Poland never ceases to amaze me. We barely ever get anything new, but a figurine from 2011 just randomly popping up in a L'eclerc bargain bin? Sure. And for 40 PLN no less, which is like half a Core figurine nowadays.

I've never even seen or heard about this guy before, but I'm quickly falling in love with this design. My only problems are his weird plastic (although I knew what to expect with a Cyberverse figure, it seems to be a given) and his tiny little feet. But besides that, wow, feels like a lost early Universe/Henkei figurine aesthetics-wise.
>>
>>9962513
Is that true? I assumed most people here came looking for a transformers thread, rather than just posting in whatever’s on the front page.

My heart wants to say Starscream but I don't want the pain of seeker collecting all over again. I just wish they'd made him as good as possible from the get to since they were gonna repaint and retool him to infinity anyway.

Wouldn't mind a Soundwave actually, especially if they gave him hands that could open a la Jhiaxus and he was compatible with the Siege casettes. The exclusive boombox version with some minor touch-ups, essentially.

Basically the post-movie Archer era trying to mix g1 characters with more Bayformer aesthetics. Same deal with Wreckage, ROTF Lockdown, Voy Bludgeon, Voy Mindwipe, ROTF Deadend and Hailstorm.

It's pretty obvious when you see how quickly new threads fill up with posters regardless of if the old thread is page 5 or page 9.
Also, we get people making new random tf related threads if the general isn't on the first 2 pages.

That's because they're stupid sheep that can't think for themselves.

During the week of SDCC Gofag was away for some reason, perhaps getting a ancestry test done to see if he had any Jewish blood in him, and the threads were perfectly healthy even way past bump limit.

Posters go down in goanon threads. Long time posters leave and do not participate. To those wondering about Tarn and Bludgeon potentially sharing a mold, it's pretty likely for a few reasons.
Several incarnations of Bludgeon have had tank treads on his shoulders. the bayformer one, RID2015, and Cyberverse. Just like Tarn
Secondly, the G1 toy has an arm mounted turret, just like Tarn has.
Lastly, any Tarn toy is gonna have major compromises to his transformation given that it's pretty complex and probably wouldn't work for anything short of a commander class, and Tarn's a voyager.
In fact, considering we're getting a leader class armada megatron, who has tank tread shoulders, and could VERY easily be modified to become Tarn by just having his tank treads fold in half, a lot of signs point to a shared mold.

However, so far no voyager in legacy has had a retool. That's a pretty big knock against the idea.

Wouldn't really help, my Walmarts are awful at stocking exclusives and when they do get them, it tends to be one or two cases (except for the first BW Reissues, they got a fuckton of those for some reason). Hell, the only reason I got Netflix Bee was showing up the day they opened up a the box and that was because the guy who got first picking saw me, and left me the other one they had since it was obvious that it's what I came for.

This van mode is honestly worse than ER's. At least ER looks good from certain angles.
What were they thinking designing a transformation that left him with clear plastic tabs on the roof? How are they even going to fit a siren on Ratchet?

>you end up buying so many Optimuses over and over again to get something kind of good.

Only if you have no impulse control and want every shiny that Hasbro/3P waves in front of you. Most people just want a good g1 set + favorite characters and not the "best" iteration.
>>
>>9964754
The problem is you don't know what will be the best iteration. People jumped onto earthrise Ironhide thinking it'd be the best they can get, now look. Don't think people won't feel the need to upgrade since now all the flaws in the old one are made obvious.
>>
>>9964754
>Most people just want a good g1 set + favorite characters.
And to do that, most buy multiple versions until they get the "perfect" figure or they all match aesthetic-wise. Surely you aren't this new to Transformers collecting.
>>

>People jumped onto earthrise Ironhide thinking it'd be the best they can get

>>
>>9964758
But the Earthrise one was just a retool of the Siege Cybertronianone. The only way he was "perfect" is if you are comparing him with the shitty CHUG one from the 2000s. Ironhide is a popular character, there's frankly going to be better future versions down the line. It doesn't justify the outrageous effort people went for that figure.

Somebody's (pretty good) attempt to make Elita's combined mode more feminine, requires all fembot CW limbs for slenderness.

see, this. couldn't we have just had this, but with proper hands with wrists and thumbs? you can make them fold away so the ant legs look better. you could even make thinner forearms and shins to make the ant legs look -even better-
and the ant hindmost legs would look better if their tips weren't missiles.

Somehow I always liked the toy head a lot but never cared for how he looked on the show; on top of that the Legacy Inferno head is just ugly.
Hopefully the rerelease has good plastic because decoloration hits BW Inferno's red plastic something fierce.
>>
>>9965092
decoloration? like, whitening? I've seen that happen to red plastic before left out in the sun, but that wa slike, the plug that goes in a downspout-diverter.

Yeah, I think it looks pretty good. I kinda want to give it a try myself considering I intend to get the fembots eventually anyway and Elita-1 would be the only double-dip for me.
>>9964754#
>Most people just want a good g1 set + favorite characters and not the "best" iteration.
Yeah, that's what I'm mostly doing. I make exceptions in rare cases like above where double-dipping adds a whole new mode, 3P stuff enables a cool Junkion army, a couple extra guys allows for a team (Sweeps/Cyclonus), army-building Allicons and Sharkticons, or using extra beast mode decos to have a little more fun and call them OC's. Haven't done a lot of any of these since they're mostly ideas and I'm more focused on getting my Shockwave guard together.

wait really?
>>9965215
yes. that actually looks like an ant, not a scribble from a beginning artist.
the main compromises to reality are the thickness of the limbs and the size of the spikes, but they gave him equally large knee spikes to try to make it look even and realistic. There's also those visible robot pelvis parts, which would have been better integrated into part of the ant 'waist'
>>9965199
wait really? I thought the non-clear parts were always pinkish... I guess mine has lost its color then
>>
>>9965215
note that the rearmost legs are mistransformed here the robot toe is left in place, and the missile (which forms the rest of the ant leg) is missing.
>>
>>9965233

There probably isn't anyone out there who agrees with me, but Classics/Henkei Ironhide is my favorite. Yes, he has flaws, but I still really like his design. There's a lot of cool stuff going on, like the techno-mess under his chest window and clear/chromed taillights. I also really liked his dual blaster/sword weapon, and he had a lot more articulation than other figures at the time. This guy has swivel hinge wrists and ankle rockers, he can really pose.

I can still appreciate figures with flaws, and this is a great one in my book.
>>
>>9965383
>>9965354
The original movie had to start production pretty early, which is why it seemed to showcase so many later episode transformers like blaster, perceptor, astrotrain, etc.
It's possible that while writing the script they didn't yet know how many dinobots would be in the show

>>9965440
well once again you have it wrong. While yes, the bigger eyes are not accurate to fire ants (or digging ants in general), they are accurate to SOME ants, and were definitely not a 'deliberately unrealistic' detail. More of a mistake.
whereas antennawise.. real ants have much longer antennae than either toy, so the older longer ones are more accurate. I know you want to push this idea that the push for accuracy has ruined these beastformers, but if that is true, it's by complete accident. because the results we're getting, the mistake parts are not more realistic.

>>
>>9965465
well given that his name is inferno, at least someone had that on the brain. and the vague look of the head, mandibles, antennae, and thorax kinda bear that out. but it is entirely possible he was made as generic ant with the idea to recolor him.. and they might have, if he hadn't shelfwarmed. i would have bought the hell out of a black one
and this new one, crappy as it looks, I might get its recolor. as long as it's not trying to be inferno, it's not so bad.
i don't think anyone back then really thought about species-specific shit with ants. they had to look this stuff up in books, remember
>>
>>9965463
why are we even arguing about this? it's fuckin stupid. It's clear that in the Xtreme 90s, they made a sculpt that would look cool over realism. An now, for whatever reason, they have decided that realism is the ticket for homaging a 90s Xtreme-era show. That's what's truly baffling.

Beast Wars altmodes were never great about realism. Most of them just tried to look as cool as possible.

>>9965599
Ants have such beautiful bodies
>>
>>9965603
There's a difference between Fire Ants (which rea native to South America and have made their way as far north as Texas and Nevada) and Red Ants (commonly seen pretty much everywhere). Fire ants are orange with black, have large jaws, and a retractable stinger laced with venom in their abdomen - this venom leaves a severe burning sensation and is what gives them their name.
>>
>>9965625
they really are ellygant as fuck.
there are even spiders who are doing their best ant impression and trying to fit in

>>9965631
well that still wouldnt be too hard to make a good Inferno out of. it's the same basic idea as the red ant's body, just seems to have more of a waist and a smaller abdomen.

Claw Jaw is pretty great, no real problems if you like how he looks.
Terrorsaur lacks bicep swivels, that aside once again what you see is what you get.

This set of figures is basically a prototype Transmetal 2. Its funny how Takara and Hasbro would keep cross referencing eachother with the beast lines

>BW loosely based on JP designs like Guyver and Mircroman
>HasKenner does BW with them, Takara makes their own Beast figures for BWII
>HasKen sees Galvatron and the cyborg beasts in BWII, coopts the sparkcrystals and hybrid beasts bot Transmetal IIs
>Takara sees the Transmetals they're making have three modes, uses that for BW Neo, Magamatron is a big fuzor
>Hasbro takes the Beasts vs MAchines setup of BWII for Beast Machines>Takara sees Hasbro wants new vehicleformers, start making their own, also make Gigatron who's like a blent of Transmetal/Beast Machines aesthetics
