don't give a toss about representation but more skelitta would be an excellent thing, because she's such a brilliant doll. But we won't have her because soccer moms complained she promoted anorexia.

I just wanted lagoona to be blue, have fins and to wear cute sporty shorts.

don't care about her backstory or nationality.
>>

>But we won't have her because soccer moms complained she promoted anorexia.
Idk, there were plenty of dumb complaints about Skelita when she was first released but she still had doll releases and was one of the last collectors dolls of the first gen, so I doubt their bitching means that she is gone for good
my guess is that she must not have been a popular character/doll, calling for the total overhaul, but the pink is dumb

She being Lagoona.

G3 Deuce Gorgon doll. I actually like this sculpt better than his original (besides the cartoony big ears), what is this??? I feel so confused
>>
>>9909710
Wow. Better than I thought we would get. if this is what we’re getting I’ll be pretty happy to grab him. Although, isn’t he in a two pack w/ Frankie or something?
>>
>>9909710
Oh he looks nice, I honestly think the green skin is an improvement
>>
>>9909710
Because comb over snakes are better than mohawk snakes that why dotd, boo york and welcome to mh are the best deuce. Original head sculpt is still superior to me those new ones are so flat in depths and details

His clothes are cool they will definitally have barbie extra quality which is the best Mattel can offers for playline rn, the design is very rainbow high with the gucci jacket.

Too bad he's a amazon exclusive he may be hard to get like those Mattel zombie dolls
>>
>>9909782
Deuce being an Amazon exclusive?! Boooo! Will I grab him? Perhaps.
>>
>>9909710
... wow. I had already decided that the G3 dolls are not for me, but I want that Deuce.
>>

Yep ghoulia is target exclusive and toralei walmart, abbey is also exclusive but we don't know where for now

>>

Why are they making the signature doll of one of the main characters a store exclusive? That doesn’t seem right
>>
>>9909994
Probably because boy dolls aren't big sellers
>>
>>9910007
Doesn’t work because Ghoulia and Toralei are also store exclusives
>>
It’s actually Lagoona’s little sister, it all makes sense now
>>
>>9910053
Ghoulia wasn't popular though, dunno about Toralei though
>>
>>9910283
>Ghoulia wasn't popular though, dunno about Toralei though
Toralei was very popular with a lot of fans, her signature doll immediately started selling for high prices on eBay a few months after it was released.

But she didn’t get very many dolls because of her short hair, short haired dolls don’t tend to sell so in order to put her in more lineups they often had to give her longer hair, which a lot of fans as well as the design team didn’t like. But retailers can be picky.
Toralei got;
- signature look doll (short hair)
- fearleading 3-pack TRU exclusive (short hair)
- Power Ghouls Cat-tastrophe Target exclusive (long hair)
- Ghoul Sports (long hair)
- Coffin Bean wave 3 alt channel exclusive (long hair)
- Freaky Field Trip (short hair)
- Freak du Chic (long hair)
- Fierce Rockers 2 pack TRU exclusive (short hair)
Nearly half her dolls had long hair, and the other half were store exclusives.

Girls brands also have issues selling antagonistic/villain characters, so that may have been another factor in why she didn’t get more dolls despite her popularity.
>>
>>9910145
Did they get rid of the elbow articulation?

>>9910283
How was Ghoulia not popular?
>>
>>9910370
that's one of the sister dolls from G2
>>
>>9910370
Ghoulia wasn't popular with children, she had a fan following but that didn't stop her from shelf warming bad
>>
>>9910376
Ah, ok. I never got into G2.

>>9910390
I don’t know if that’s an accurate assessment though. Mattel is notorious for overpacking characters that are popular.
Look at He-Man and Skeletor as an example. They’re always the best selling characters in any Motu line, but they’re also always setting on shelves.
If Ghoulia dolls didn’t sell, they wouldn’t have made so many different versions of her character.
>>
>>9910418
They made so many dolls of Ghoulia cuz she's the designers' favourite. After Skull Shores Ghoulia absolutely shelfwarmed, Ghoulia became relegated to exclusives and budget dolls. The fact she never got a second diary doll despite every other first wave girl getting a second or third diary doll is a bigger indicator of how much Mattel didn't want to invest in her character versus the designers pushing>>9910376
their autism zombie girl.
>>
>>9910370
Ghoulia was fucking ugly, boring, and only appealed to manbaby autists because she was the quirky smart autistic zombie girl. Little girls don't want to play with dolls that dress like grandmas

Not the anon you were replying to, but this was brought up a few threads ago; adult fans might have liked Ghoulia, but kids (who make up like 85% of MH sales), largely did not.

Also, can men please enjoy female characters without immediately making it sexual?
Do you really want to fuck an undead 15 year old?
Or can your pornsick brain just not comprehend the idea of a woman having positive traits other than being sexually attractive?
>>

Go back to FDS. I browse this board for the beyblades. My girlfriend asked me to look at this thread for leaks and told me to say that because she disagrees with you. Also the statement was about fucking a grandmother not a child teenagers are gross.
>>

>My girlfriend asked me to look at this thread for leaks
Why can’t she lurk this place herself then? Plus Instagram is really the most relevant place for doll news these days anyway, everything that has been posted here is just reposted from Instagram.

Also, you were the same Ghoulia-waifufag who kept complaining that they dropped her from the MH lineup after 2015. yet when you were given the reason why, didn’t want to accept the answer.

Ghoulia Yelps was the creators’ pet who got way more dolls then she should have despite not selling well.
When she comes back in the reboot, she is going to be significantly overhauled (to Pinkgoona levels) so as to not shelfwarm.
That’s just how it is, you gotta accept it.
>>
>>9911777
She does use insta, but was curious. I'll be real I know nothing about monster high aside from I agree that Ghoulia doesn't look like a grandma after a brief google search...but it also looks like they overdid the nerd thing, that has to be tempered with some other visual personality traits like how Twilight Sparkle is. You're getting really excited to own someone who is not here.

> she is going to be significantly overhauled (to Pinkgoona levels)

yep i saw the movie and they did she's now green skinned like old frankie, and she can speak normally, so maybe she will have more personality so far she was a sarcastic comic relief,

fashion wise she didn't have any 50s or retro inspired pieces and wore basic shirt, pants and skirt with hoodie and letterman jackets,
the print on her clothes were green goop, psychedelic pattern(probably brain print), black and white wave.
red was used as an accent color and she wore mainly black, grey and green.
>>
>>9912304
Why did they swap the skin colors of Ghoulia and Frankie?
>>
>>9912371
idk but they never really liked the idea of frankie being green, they almost made her beige if it was not the little girls in product testing saying she needed to be green, her g3 doll prototype is grey but she will be blue at the end.
>>
>>9911786
Ghoulia kept getting these retro outfits like 50s-eqsue. That's what I meant by "grandma"
>>
>>9912304
what is up with all the glasses being some level of horrible 60s librarian style in this movie??
>>
Finally had to accept the reality that I’ve bought way too many fucking dolls over the past few years.
- 60+ Monster High (I haven’t even counted the total number of MH dolls)
-18 Ever After High
- 5 Winx Club
- 2 Disney Descendants
- 20 LOL Surprise OMG
- 4 LOL Surprise Tweens
- 2 BMR1959
and a bunch of other miscellaneous one-offs.
Also Cleo and Lagoona’s furniture sets, EAH Raven Queen’s vanity, the Scaris Cafe Cart and Coffin Bean playsets.

I deeply regret getting into this hobby and feel ashamed that I’ve sunk so much money into useless plastic crap.
Yeah there is the option to sell some, but it’s worth significantly less if it’s all out of box.
>>
>>9910884
>bone tits
>>
>>9914112
I'm sorry you feel that way, anon. I wouldn't knock the idea of selling the dolls, especially Monster High. The older ones are worth significantly more than the newer/re-released ones, especially to repainters. You should list those if you're not doing anything else this weekend. Same with EAH. Not sure about the other dolls other than the LOLs. Those will sell, and you should be able to make back at least some of the money you've spent. I like Mercari the best out of all of the reselling platforms. Good luck.
>>
>>9913561
Ghoulias glasses were always like that
>>
>>9912371
Maybe kids associate green more with zombies than blue
>>
>>9914112
Thin out what you want to get rid of and what you want to keep and donate the stuff you want to get rid of to a thrift shop
>>
So how well do you guys think the G3 MH will sell? looking at Frankie's prototype i got a feeling she will shelfwarm quite a bit, she looks so goofy and unappealing but i bet Draculaura will be a best seller cuz thats the only one the designers seemed to have cared about.
>>
Some monster high character trademarks have been officially abandoned as Mattel chose not to renew them;
Spectra Vondergeist
Clawd Wolf
Jackson Jekyll
Holt Hyde
Robecca Steam
Scarah Screams
Meowlody
Purrsephone
Gigi Grant

Damn, I’m gonna miss them. Especially Spectra, she was introduced right alongside Abbey at the beginning of the franchise, why TF are they dropping her?
>>
>>9914623
>Spectra Vondergeist
>Robecca Steam
Damn i would have thought these two would get creeproductions, RIP
>>
>>9914515
I wanna say not great, no where near MHs original popularity but maybe a bit better than G2, I'm waiting on the cartoon to see if they have more personality than the live action versions
>>
>>9914623
Toralei's henchcats aren't coming back? I wonder who's getting retconned to take their place.
>>
>>9914623
I'm honestly shocked at them letting some of those go. I can maybe understand Gigi and Scarah, since they were late additions, but a ghost is a good, basic monster, and since they are re-designing everyone, why not keep the name Spectra? Also, Rebecca had a crazy cool body; why not take advantage of that for a collector doll down the line?

Jackson&Holt were shocking at first, but it makes sense. Frankie is now they/them, so there can be no love interest, because any love interest could be read as gay. Also, Clawdeen now has the "oh no, I am a human in monster school" angsti, so there is nothing left for Jackson. Clawd being let go is disappointing, but not surprising. Clawdeen can't really keep her angst and have siblings, and the new MH clearly has no desire to keep any of the good couples together. Now I'm fairly certain that sooner or later they will confirm that the only couple they kept is the worst one aka Lagoona&Gil.
>>
I get the feeling Mattel execs mandated a MH revival but no one at the company is enthusiastic about it, so they're phoning in a lazy effort. They probably assume it'll fail anyway so they're doing it shit on purpose. The reissues are deliberately crap because "someone might sell them as originals if they look the same" since these toy companies mistakenly give a shit about preserving the aftermarket for some reason, even though it never benefits them.
>>
>>9914763
>The reissues are deliberately crap because "someone might sell them as originals if they look the same"
What do you mean by “deliberately crap”? The Creeproductions are fine, most of the slight alterations they made were objective improvements (fixing the placement of the eyes so that they’re less crooked/walleyed, slightly longer hair for Clawdeen, the arm pegs are thicker and more secure and don't fall out as easily as the first wave ones did, no more elastic hips) and they have the same fabrics and details, Mattel didn’t cut corners.

The only major issues were that they were under-produced and exclusive to Walmart, but that’s not an issue with the dolls themselves.
>>
>>9914763
I wouldn't really say they're phoning it in, these dolls have a lot more effort put into them compared to the Gen 2 dolls
>>
>>9914161

Skelita has “bone tits“ so that her clothes will drape and fit better on her body, not for any weird coomer fetish reason.

I will not tolerate any slander of Skelita Calaveras in this house. She’s one of the most conceptually-daring and visually striking characters MH ever released; her unique body mold with molded in pelvic lines, individually separate vertebrae, toe and finger bones is a genuine work of art and I still can’t believe a design of that caliber was mass-produced as doll for children to play with.
Her faceup is so detailed compared to the typical MH doll with the dots and swirls of sugar skulls, her fashion style is bright and colorful, combining Mexican folk art motifs with skeletal shapes and southwestern leather.
She was lovingly designed by Natalie Villegas, who wanted to share parts of her own Mexican heritage with kids, adult collectors, and anyone else who might pick up a Skelita doll.
Even her personality is reflective of Mexican culture; Skelita is an expressive artist with a reverence for tradition, and a loyal friend who honors her family and community.
She deserved to have twice as many dolls as she did, she was such a great character and to see people assume she’s “promoting anorexia“ because she’s a skeleton or that she’s “Cultural appropriation of Day of the dead” (even though her designer is Mexican and actual Mexicans love her) is so sad, because those stupid accusations are why Mattel might not feature her in this upcoming G3 reboot.
>>
>>9914623
>Spectra
I hope this doesn't mean they'll try to push the bland as fuck attempted Spectra replacement from G2, Ari. I love Spectra's weird ultra-cheekboney Victoria Beckham-y face mold, it's a shame they won't even try to translate her into the new style.
>>
>>9915495
I mean... she is literally just the Monster High version of Skeletor, when you think about it. He has a body but with a skull, she has a face but a skeleton. Like they were going to slyly suggest he's her father but never went through with it.

It would be a better idea than "Skeleteen" was, anyway.
>>
>>9915716
>I mean... she is literally just the Monster High version of Skeletor, when you think about it. He has a body but with a skull, she has a face but a skeleton. Like they were going to slyly suggest he's her father but never went through with it.
Just because she’s made by Mattel and a skeleton doesn’t mean she’s related or Skeletor. Not all skeletons know each other, Kenneth don’t be racist

Which Fierce doll do you guys think is the best design? I want to buy one as a gift for my doll collector friend but none of them are really calling me. I think Bee might be the best, but Neon's facepaint is really cute.

I'm not an expert but based on my previous experience it seems like the first thing you should try is hot water and soap to see if it will dissolve. If it does start to come out it could take a few rounds to clean it completely; try to avoid boiling temp water since it can further damage the hair. It looks like it's already a bit damaged so what you can do with it depends on the condition after the glue comes out.

If the glue doesn't come out with hot water then you either live with it or reroot the fringe. Nail polish remover/acetone/alcohol will destroy the hair.

Hmm it's so interesting - everything - 1/6 hands feet/shoes and acessories are too huge for this doll.
BUT at the same time head is way bigger than 1/6 heads.

Which means..i might just go and put Sirius Black head on a skinny 1/6 body and it will look nicely (might have do some modding with neck-holes may be)
Because it will be much easier to just have 1/6 body with all kinds of acessories already existing for it than trying to get something that fits this specific body.

>I always liked Luna and i want this but damn...it looks too much like a "pretty barbie dolly"...
That’s just how dolls look, anon. They’re simplified and stylized. If you don’t stylize it it you get weird uncanny valley “celebrity dolls“ like the Addison Rae one a few images above.

>>
>>9922905
Bad Robot doesn't have much for monster options so it might actually be the Cloverfield monster, only other options are Super 8 or Overlord
>>
>>9923025
Yeah, that’s why I am even letting myself hope. I feel like Super 8 is more likely since that was the kid friendly one, but I haven’t actually seen it and don’t know what the monster looks like. There’s no way they’d do Overlord, no one but me cares about that movie (I however saw it two days in a row in theater lmao) and it only had nazi zombies. But I’m not sure how Clover would work as a doll
>>
>>9923081
One of the taller dolls probably, a small secondary set of arms, maybe red pigtails for Clover's face sacs, face makeup to evoke the teeth, tail, weird hands, maybe the highheels can be stylized buildings and she comes with a parasite pet. And her clothing resembles seaweed to represent Clover's ocean origin. Or a Slusho shirt/skirt!

>>9923111
I would cry if she had a little slusho cup

>>9922459
He’s essentially a Ken doll, Ken has slightly petit proportions compared to generic 1/6. A lot of 1/6 stuff is made for “guy toys” like the Phicens and other celebrity likeness dolls so I think that’s why you’re seeing discrepancy. He’s still 1/6, just not hyper realistic. Stuff made for Ken and some Integrity will fit him.

the doll looks like a 40years old american actress that somehow still manages to look young so she plays young girls in movies.
(probably lots and lots of plastic surgery + blood of /v/irgins got used but you get the idea)

Luna is too important to me to ignore this. "sexy dolly-faced pretty american girl" is the least thing that i associate with Luna but i get why she looks like that.

>Is it difficult to take his head off?
It's pretty easy. I was a beginner earlier this year and after head swapping several dolls I'm pretty confident now. You want to heat the head first to soften the plastic, either with a hair dryer or hot water. My preferred method is boiling a little water and pouring it into a mug, then wrapping the head in a ziplock and dunking it for 2-3 minutes, so the water can't get inside of it or ruin the hair; if he's the same structure as Dumbledore, his neck peg will look something like this, and the most dangerous part are the "arms" of the peg which can catch and tear the neck. Since Sirius has molded hair you can probably strip his shirt and dunk him right in to make sure the water warms him up all the way through, but keep in mind some water will leak inside and could burn you when you pull it off. Let him dry out really well before putting his head on another body so you don't have trapped moisture, because vinyl can mold.

If you use the hair dryer method, don't make it so hot that you burn yourself or start warping the doll head. Start at lower temps and work your way up if it doesn't get soft enough. Focus on the base of the neck.

You can also search up "ken doll head swaps" on youtube and there are lots of videos of people removing the various types of heads. Even within the same line there can be releases of dolls that have different types of neck pegs, so since I don't have a Sirius myself I can't tell you exactly what he has in there.

Getting it to fit on one of the other body types might be the trickier part, since the neck pegs are completely different. Best of luck!

>>
>>9926631

>>
>>9926614

Cleo is very pretty, but Lagoona is a let down. Both of them are indeed even cheaper looking than the first 3 ghouls, as >>9927721 said. There's less layered fabrics, less non-printed details, less accessories. They are far from looking like the price point they are being sold at.

Still, I'll probably try to get Cleo, since it is a nice enough re-interpretation of her signature look, her new accessories are good ones, and her face is lovely. Lagoona on the other hand is a hard pass; the look fails to fit her character, even if I can see what they were aiming for with mermaid dress for water monster. Maybe I'll finally bite the bullet and grab Dawn of the Dance Lagoona, with her sweet mohawk and amazing shoes; to me, she looks more luxurious and collector worthy than this.

>>
>>9932927
I feel like them being boring is kind of an inevitability, especially at the pace they're putting out new characters
>>
>>9932755
Maybe because i listen to too much kpop for my own good these missed the mark by so much as a kpop group, they are super uncordinated with their designs as group so they aint styled even remotely properly, they dont seem to have a theme either (and there its at least 3 different themes going on with them) like it would have been fine if they all had the same colour shades but at least make it so their outfits are matching.

And i gotta ask but why are the 3 korean girls so dark skinned? Like kpop beauty standards are insanely rigid and these girls being so dark its just highly uncommon, they could have made them a malaysian or thai pop group if they wanted to make them darker skinned, but they dont look korean to me.
>>
>>9933141
Koreans can have dark skin but the pale light skin is the beauty standard and is especially enforced with K-pop, you can actually see a lot of difference in how American advertisements show the K-pop stars vs. the Korean version which typically has them edited to be much lighter, since these are aimed at Americans they probably didn’t see need to make them quite so pale.
>>
>>9930089
Gave her more of a kitty face and added a bell
>>
>>9930081

>>
>>9933164
Its more like an extra odd choice to make both the japanese and korean dolls so dark skin when its very obvious to anybody with eyes that koreans/japanese are usually a shade or two lighter than these chicks unless you go to the country side ofc, while Lily Cheng was lighter skin (i would argue that there is more chinese ppl that are darker skin than ppl imagine).

Either way as a kpop inspired group they aint hitting the mark and when i saw that Tara was Blackpink inspired i at least expected the other girls to sort of match thats inspo but nope, i imagine these are their 2nd outfits (sort of how neon green and silver girl first showed up in their 2nd fits) so perhaps these girls can be salvage cuz between their outfists and their rather dissapointing make up i see them as the least popular of the bunch.

Its MGA they are gonna charge at least $40 (probably 70 in australia)

Collab with Sideshow on the RTB101 body - a new story doll basic and then 3 dolls with different looks portraying ‘digital models’, then there’s an ongoing collab with a doll shop owner doing ‘virtual doll convention’ events and bringing out ‘her character Grace’ - which is the Sydney head sculpt on the RTB101 body with new makeup and hair. She has hosted 2 rounds of Ellowyne releases so far. 3rd one coming in August with the announcement of a brand new character, a black doll friend, but to me it just looks a lot like the Ellowyne sculpt done in a darker vinyl tone and not much like the old mixed/black friend Lisette who had varied features like Prudence and whoever the ‘frenemy’ character was, I forgot her name even.

Robert Tonner said in an interview that he has a contract for ‘the next couple of years’ with that doll shop owner for Ellowyne releases, but she seems more focused on her new baby and on the Grace character than Ellowyne. She’s got a YouTube channel.

Small rant : I hate the monster high comeback and how flawed it is.
And the worst part is the stan excusing everything because they been starved for dolls and content for so long.

My last straw was this designer hipocritical responce and the way she handled valid criticism since pennywise and the twins.

Countless people had tagged Mattel and the designers over the scalper things and they know about it and when they did something about it haunt couture clawdeen was on their website for 2 days,

now they let the scalpers scalp so their flop design like dracula sell out in minutes and create this fear of missing out for other collectors so they spend $75 on $25 playline dolls

and then the designer had the nerve to makes stories on how clueless she is and how proud she is that the dolls sell out when only 20% of the collectors will have one.
>>
>>9941680
>some people pours talc inside the head and at the roots, you can also use goo gone but just inside the head
The problem was glue they ADDED to the hair which dried, not glue leaking from the head. Talc/goo gone are for when the glue holding the hair in starts liquifying. Washing the hair with soap and water is a REALLY COMMON suggestion for removing the glue they use for styling the hair in box.

The idea of confronting a big sweaty man at a convention and accusing him of scalping is so funny to me. Imagine telling him to go and return his 50 dolls, or getting security involved. This was an issue that Mattel should have addressed from the beginning before money exchanged hands with the public.
Imagine being a professional designer trawling the comments to "dunk on" and not thinking you look fucking retarded.
>>
>>9942601
Not to mention why didnt mattel put a limit per person purchase at the actual convention floor? Like they are really pretending fans havent been complaining about scalpers getting out of hands for months at this point?

I just feel bad for the people behind that dude who watched him buy 50 dolls knowing they had stayed at a massive line for nothing.
>>
>>9942869
If that were the case why even limit it to 2 on the site? They could just sell them unlimited then. They at least want to appear like they care, it's getting to the point they can't pretend they just don't know about it anymore.
>>
>>9942992
There’s one business model that would significantly reduce scalping; why doesn’t Mattel take pre-orders before manufacturing so they can more accurately estimate demand?
A lot of Japanese toy and collectible companies do this, why can’t they?
>>
>>9943236
I wish for this all the time. It's so much less stress than a FCFS sale, and it still maintains the rarity because LOTS of people will still be dumb and miss a preorder no matter how long its open, but at least the people who really care will get theirs. All I can think is there's some reason they have to manufacture up to a specific number and no more than that. I could see some companies bragging about how fast their product sells out but it's passed the point of looking good for them.
>>
>>9943236
I mean Mattel Creations did preorders for their merman Ken doll and people are /still/ waiting for their dolls to ship out.
>>
>>9943442
Really?? I almost preordered that one, glad I didn't now. I wonder if it got a low number of orders so they're de-prioritizing it for better selling products. >>
>>9943442
>>9943545
Is there proof to that? I ordered him and, if I remember right, got him sooner than they said he would ship. Of course this was a while ago so I could be mistaken but I got him without issue. Though I agree, they should have kept the trident or something. For his price there should have been more to the doll. But I couldn’t turn down a hunky merman doll.

Looks like she has Emi hair blend, i wish she got a little of black in her blend too
>>
>>9944146
Wow that is amazing. Guess I got lucky with my order.
>>
>>9944036
What is the account of the designer?
>>
>>9943862
This design is just so boring after getting the rest of Shadow High this year. Like I don’t think it’s bad by itself, but it looks like Veronica Storm in the black and purple dress from Ainsley.
>>
>>9944294
it's rebecula13 on instagram she's a Monster high designer since the third wave of signature, she did rochelle, twyla,... and her name was given to robecca

>>9944304
i think the problem with rainbow/shadow high is their Head designer Micheal scott, he just can't do a line with the same format as OMG with new characters in every wave, he's better with a line of recurring characters, project mc2 was a really consistent line, but with rainbow high a lot of shilouette, concepts and pieces are reused because there's too much stuff coming all at once.

they should have done what monster high was doing in 2012 and 2013 and mix main characters and and new characters in the lineup, and introduce new character only when necessary,
why create 20+ pink dolls when they can use bella, stella, daria and kia and change their looks when needed,
they could have also updated the first two series with new head molds
>>
>>9942104
I hope all of these "blue out" and these shits are reduced to poverty.
Scalpers should hang.
>>
>>9944420
Yeah I think the Rainbow High community has made it clear that they really would like some repeat characters or fashion packs over new dolls constantly but it never stops. I can’t imagine wave 5 is even that far off since they teased it months ago iirc.
Tbh this would be my suggestions:
- scrap jr high and do a mini 1/12 line instead. Maybe it’s just because I love the scale but there’s also a shit ton of 1/12 stuff out there in the hobby market so a really nice play line doll would kill. Basically the Nendoroid Doll/Obitsu equivalent. The Jr High like makes no sense, why would I want the exact same characters but 1 inch shorter? I don’t care if the minis are the same characters (they probably would be) or new characters, though I don’t want little sisters unless they’re going to make them cute and not put them in lingerie. But they’re MGA so no shot.
- Fashion Packs, duh. They’re fashion girls going to fashion school, how is this confusing. They could definitely sell an outfit for $15 but I don’t know why they think they can sell shoes or a purse for $10.
- why is it called the Rainbow High accessory studio when it’s a box of shoes? What is the studio part of this? It should have been a kit, like 3-4 pairs of basic shoes or 2 purses, plus some paints and press on gems and charms to make custom purses.

I’m really curious where they’re going with those dyeable dolls, I think the idea is good but I don’t have high hopes for the execution. They’re not going to put strong dyes in a kit for kids so I doubt anything will end up darker than pastel unless you buy your own dyes. I also am imagining an absolute disaster of dyes staining the dolls.
>>
>>9942869
Integrity and Mizi do that as well and they have less problems with the core fanbase.
>>

Has she always been private? If not, lmao'ing at her life if this is what made her go private
>>
>>9944619
From what I've seen after she chastised the fan for not "saying something" when some asshole came thru the line with a wheelchair full of 50 exclusives a bunch of other stans started bullying the original fan and it started shit. I wouldn't be surprised if she locked.

Just curious but are these gonna be walmart exclusive?
>>
>>9945942
Yeah they're Walmart exclusives
>>
another big reason why the monster high comeback might stumble, there’s no Toys R Us anymore.

Monster High would have never succeeded without Toys R Us, hell they were the only retailer who was willing to carry the line in its first year of production.
A lot of characters wouldn’t have been mass-produced in doll form at all if they hadn’t been TRU exclusives, like Scarah Wydowna and Whisp getting I Heart Fashion dolls.
>>
>>9946119
toys r us are coming back to the US this years in Macy's, they even found a sign i'm going to do a master post with everything we know so far.

Does anyone know any good sellers for doll hair on eBay or Etsy? I’d like to reroot one of my doll’s hair, but I’ve never done it before. Also does rerooting require a lot of skill or is it just kind of time consuming?
>>
>>9949754
I've bought from TheDollPlanetHair on Etsy a few times and was pleased ! It's not very hard just time consuming.
>>
>>9949204
so why is she purple skinned? i think i missed something

>>9949782
DollPlanet is apparently up to some shitty promo tactics. Great selection and service but depending on your ethics you might not want to buy from them.
>>
>>9947890
How did it go with the slumper party line? They were Walmart exclusive, and in Europe, available through Amazon. These will probably be the same.
>>
>>9949204
reminds me of a Morlock
>>
>>9949204
The purple skin certainly is....a choice
>>
>>9950115
We never got them and amazon only had them from re sellers, i only own brianna and i got her from oztoystore but she was like 140$ (same price in amazon really)

So now am sad that its likely we wont get them.
>>
>>9949859
I think she its supposed to be african american but shadow high monocrome pallet might be limiting on how to portray black folks without it looking bad... altho she remind me of Cupkkake
>>
>>9950363
African American? What the fuck? What about Luna Madison twin sister of Sunny? Her skin is like a brownish gray and she's not strangulation-victim-purple. I think this doll is just purple for the sake of being purple, like how those shadow high rockers have neon skin.
>>
>>9949204
>>
>>9950502
I mean Ms Onyx its literally pitch black and she its the only black characther on S1... Luna and Sunny could potentially be SEA and not black (i personally see them as SEA not black), i personally believe that SH weakness appears with how to despict afro characthers without making it look potentially offensive... the purple its a bad choice bcuz its the wrong shade of purple for this doll a darker shade like Mulberry/wine would have been better or maybe some boysenberry/plum not whatever this is...
>>
>>9950535
I thought Sunny was tanned Korean and her name was just Sun Hee
>>
>>9946840
HIDEOUS
>>
>>9950363
It’s like Shanelle is how to do a black doll and Dia is…absolute not.

>>9950510
This looks better but she’s still ugly desu. It may just be the outfit though
>>
>>9950535
A deep purple grey would be so much nicer
>>
Spirit Halloween is going to be selling adult sized classic MH costumes this year as well as MH merch
>>
>>9950879
Good. Gonna buy them all, get some gal pals round and film a porno
>>
I still don't understand what the fuck shadow high is. The lore of the dolls is that they go to fashion high school, I don't understand why different kids at a different fashion high school have fantasy skin colors. This stuff worked in monster high because they were literally monsters. Isn't one of the gray girls literally related to one of the normal skin girls?

I'm probably thinking too hard about it but also frustrated with how shallow the thought that goes into some of these lines are. I feel like that's why RH is so same-y, they can't move past the "high fashion teenager" in their design choices and are making colors for arbitrary reasons with no real thought behind it. Purple doll should have been at Blacklight High or something, with a set of dolls designed around the color, not just shoved in SH because she has a weird skin tone. If they did more high schools maybe they could introduce more fashion diversity.
>>
>>9950535
Did you forget the rock star girls and Robin?
>>
>>9951010
A big problem is that they keep pushing out new characters, like the concepts are all nice but there's zero draw to these characters beyond design
>>
>>9950879
oh sweet, i'm buying all the accessories for sure (i bought some of the kid-sized mh purses before just because they are so cute... but they hold so little). and maybe a drac costume if it's the classic one and not the new design.

apparently the spirit stores around here are opening in just a week from now, wow that's early as hell.

>>9951010
when has mga ever been good at lore? that's one place mattel always had them beat
>>
>>9951012
I mean Shadow High not Rainbow High characthers because of SH cannot give their monocrome line natural skin colours (they could do a sepia or autumn thene characther and give them dark skin tho), plus they still give one of their darkest doll bring pink lips for no reason
>>
>>9950563
I think all the S1 girls are supposed to be racially ambigious, i think thats the reason S2 was under so much scrutiny on race and representation because S1 "didnt" have any.

I remember seeing arguments that neither Sunny nor Skyler were black even tho of that group Skyler looks to be the only black one, then the whole are Jade/Violet asian or white... without comfirmation they could be asian or bi racial or black.
>>
>>9951010
shadow high is all their dolls with fantasy skintonnes that all, they're the same brand with just that distinction.

>>9951223
For fashion dolls brand, the dolls should always be the priority not the lore or story.
if its good that a plus but a good story can't save mediocre dolls
>>
>>9951363
>shadow high is all their dolls with fantasy skintonnes
Why though? Why do all the kids at that school have wacky skin colors? There's nothing in the universe that suggests that these are anything other than regular kids.

Idk, other than the mono dolls, I haven't been especially impressed by anything in the SH line after. The color choices feel arbitrary and purposeless. Are they just trying to get ahead of the MH relaunch? If so they miss that those dolls are not just purple or pink or green for no reason. Are they trying to go "true rainbow" including the doll's skin colors? Why do it under Shadow High then?

I feel like we'd at least get a "oops, the paint machine broke and splashed everyone" reasoning, but there's no explanation. They just felt like making some of them purple and pink.
>>
>>9941194
I don't know what it is made of but it's really soft. It does feel like there's some kind of gel/glue on it but I don't feel like she needs a shampoo like I feel with RH and OMG dolls whatever it is there's only just enough of it in her hair.

>>9941680
I know american girl dolls have kanekalon hair. My castle licca's hair is way softer than any of my AG doll's hair. Not saying you're wrong, just sharing my perception.

samefag but the only problem with Licca's hair is she looks like a baldie when you part it any other way than how she came. She would benefit from having her scalp painted before it's rooted.

>>9951694
So she has a ton of hair it's not thin by any means but I can't style it in any way because of how she's like bald when you pull it up or anything you really have to keep it how it was styled when you get her.
>>
>>9951690
Licca hair OP here, yeah I still haven't figured it out. I watched a bunch of videos about the hair types and still have no clue. The Castle hair is my favorite, like you said, it holds style really well but is still so soft. I had doubts about anon's kanekalon suggestion because a lot of vids say it gets poofy, though maybe it's the product they use in it that keeps that controlled? I've rearranged my Jenny girls a dozen times and their hair is still fantastic, but some of my other dolls started getting frizzy as soon as I take them out of the box.
>>
Licca chan literally uses Saran hair yall. It's just not fucked up with cuz Takara doesn't put product or glue in the hair and they root it in with a chain stitch instead 9f whatever the fuck Mattel does.
>>
>>9951646
>Why though? Why do all the kids at that school have wacky skin colors?
Why does it have to make sense? The cartoon is just a commercial for the toy line and the toys aren't designed with lore in mind - they're designed to be a good looking doll. Have a headcanon if you want - it's just as valid as a cartoon for children as backstory to why the dolls look the way they do. But I don't know why a doll line designed around rainbow colours has to make sense like it's the real world. Just roll with it. I bet you don't complain that Winx dolls are unrealistic because they're fairies or Ariel dolls are bad because mermaids don't exist.
>>
>>9952687
Not that anon but it's not so much that those colors for skin don't naturally exist as it is just very out of nowhere to include all of the sudden, RH dolls started out fairly grounded and only after the introduction of SH did things start going wacky. I'm not saying it's bad to give them unique colors or be wacky, but I agree with anon that it's just very out of left field and doesn't seem to have much reason put behind it.
>>
>>9933393
>golliwog
Are you 150 years old holy shit
>>
>>9951694
>this is the level of Licca castle rooting thickness
Trash and to think I wanted to get one, thanks for saving my money anon

>>9951702
>it's not thin by any means
If you can't make two side pigtails without bald spots, than the rooting isn't thick, period.
>>
>>9952721
I am that anon and yeah, this. It established itself so firmly as “popular modern fashion only” which is so based in realism, with no foundation like fairies or magic to explain why they would be fantastical colors. Like, I would have expected modern professions or “popular fashion through the ages” or something like that before purple skin, since it’s a more logical leap. Then on top of it all the fashions are still so same-y.
>>
>>9952782
How do I say this it's like thick on the top and doesn't appear thin until you try to part it some other way. Which is obviously rightfully going to be a deal breaker for a lot of people but I'm not doing Licca's hair I'm putting her in outfits and looking at her pretty face so it doesn't bother me.
>>
>>9952721
>doesn't seem to have much reason put behind it.
The reason is the dolls look cool
>>
>>9952782
My own castles have similar rooting but I don't intend to change their default styles so I'm fine with it. It also helps the hair lie down flatter in a more realistic shape. I still vastly prefer it to all my american dolls.

>>9952181
No need to be sassy about it, I asked 6 days ago and no one gave a definitive answer. Google was useless. Thank you for confirming though, saran was pretty high on my list.

>>
>>9945942
They look awful. Shadow high just all round sucks
>>
>>9953139
meh, I thought the greyscale stuff was cool initially
>>
>>9953137
It's from those Mini Brands Toys surprise balls. They were a few bucks off at Target when I was there last week so I bought a few. I think that's the best thing I got out of them. I might buy more but like on ebay and not surprising next time I got too many doubles.
>>
>>9953142
One series of greyscale is cool. Five or seven black and white dolls are cool. It's less cool when there are like fifty of them.
>>
>>9953130
That's probably a part of it, like another anon said MGAs strength was never plot or lore, so they probably just don't bother this time around
>>
>>9951363
I dont disagree that doll design should take some priority, but I dont think it's a particularly good idea to release new characters constantly and slack on story or character building
>>
>>9953007
The fantasy skin tones come from their mother line poopsie rainbow surprise so there's that plus their first drescription was that at the end of the rainbow was their high school and that sound pretty magical to me

Like the other anon said the reason is that the dolls look cool, they aren't limited to being a specific monster and are just fashionable blue or pink girl that can wear anything
>>
>>9953608
Anon, the toys in that pic with fantasy skin colors are literally fantasy creatures. Which makes sense. The point is in RH it doesn’t make sense. I don’t connect to any of these dolls because they look WEIRD. The black and white ones were kind of cool but the ones since then don’t actually look very good.
>>
At this point they might as well be aliens from Jupiter or something
>>
>>9953703
I was happy with normal skin tones… I don’t love any of the grey characters, but I think Natasha and Shanelle are great and I don’t mind the desaturated characters like the Neon and twins, but holy fuck am I not interested bright fantasy skin tones. Why can’t the line just be consistent instead
>>
lads, every time i see rainbow high dolls in stores or in videos pictures whatever i’m blown away by the amount of detail they have at such an affordable price. i was mind blown by this shadow high commercial the first time i saw it. but god damn the faces and eyes are just way too big for me otherwise i’d be all over these dolls.

i’ve never posted on /toy/ before i just needed to share these thoughts somewhere. i really want one but i also don’t.

>>9953608
Why are all those dolls Caucasian? I don't see a singular nigga in that lineup. Are they saying niggas can't be fairies?
