You mean bots that make use of negative space, bitch? Some of the bay designs do that but it's rarely seen in figures due to tolerances and partscount, where its easier to just mold it all as one piece.

I hope they do a studio series version of the Quintessons.
>>
>>9783117
It would just be a third release of the Earthrise mold, and it wasn't a horribly great mold either.
>>
>>9783015
Yeah probably never. We MIGHT get The Fallen because he's a popular character, but I think Bayverse is otherwise done. There was talk of doing some videogame-exclusive characters from the 2007 movie, but if they're considering them before finishing the characters that actually appeared on-screen, I don't think The Last Knight has any hope at all.

I think the next live-action toys we're likely to see in any capacity is Rise of the Beasts. It feels like they rushed through the remaining Bumblebee cast in two waves and now they're just biding their time with SS86 until they can actually release something that has a toy commercial currently in theatres.

SS86 is a guaranteed money-maker, but I feel they're being used as shelf-fillers until they can do the Beasts figures they've probably had waiting in the wings for a year or more.
>>
>>9782867
Even in the in-hand shots, you can see the obvious pixels on the camo. It was based on an extremely low-resolution template, and it shows.
I'd also like to know why they think we need TWO Bulkheads on shelves at the same time when the first one has brought nothing but criticism from Prime and Animated fans (ie the people likely to buy Bulkhead). I'm sure completionists will pick him up, but even in an overwhelmingly autistic hobby like Transformers, I think they're overestimating how autistic we are
>>
I've got all the Wreckers on pre-order, but I know I don't want them all. I like the Fossilizers, and Topspin and Leadfoot are must-haves, but which others should I cancel?

The only thing I'd want Bulkhead for is to give his hammer to Breakdown and his mace to my other Bulkhead. If Springer didn't have the Wrecker symbol I'd want him, but as it stands I don't really want him. Which other ones do you think are worth keeping or cancelling?
>>
>>9783209
I'm only getting Leadfoot, myself.
I like the Spinosaurus, but to be honest I don't really like Fossilizers as a concept, so I know he'll just go in a bag of spare parts
>>
>>9783215
I like the fossilizers as a concept but in practice they're just really shitty. The Weaponizers had the same problems: there's always one or two useful parts and then a bunch of weird junk that you can't use for anything.
>>
>>9783198
what indication do you have that studio series is just going to stop?
>>9783203
real life camo is pixelated these days
>>
>>9783222
>what indication do you have that studio series is just going to stop?
I've actually changed my mind, a Bulldog toy will probably happen. But I think they're definitely running out of characters, and doing a Bulldog is indicative of that.
At some point it's going to have to stop, because who else can they even do
>>
>>9783232
oh yeah they'll run out someday, but it would be weird to get this far and then poop out.

Besides exposing the autism of the fandom in a way 'trukk not munky' never could? It pulled in some fresh money and gave us a couple enjoyable characters.
>>
>>9783305
Not that much. I would say they gave Hasbro unrealistic sales expectations for non-movie years, but that's toylines in general now. Bay movies have kept Transformers as a franchise relevant enough to remain on shelves consistently, and not end up like He-Man through most of the 00s and 10s or G.I. Joe in the 10s.

>>
>>9783305
I would argue that the Bayverse, especially during the second movie, gave us some absurd advances in engineering. They had to step it up in a big way to deal with these new hyper-complex designs, and while their footing was a little shaky on the first movie, they came into their own in a huge way in ROTF and the sublines that followed. We got some of the most complex and crazy transformations, absurd articulation, even paint apps were largely on point. It was a great time for Transformers toys.

I mean, look where we were before that. We were just coming off the Cybertron trilogy, which for the most part was positively primitive by comparison, and the first wave of Classics. I love me some Classics because nostalgia, but even I can admit a lot of it was fairly bad and didn't hold up well over time (the only ones I still 100% love are Prime, Mirage, and the Bee/Clify mold).

Yeah, same. I think I bought one Modulator and was blown away with how shitty they are.

Weaponizers were the worst, I don't know how they went through an entire R&D cycle and not one engineer pointed out that the 5mm pegs and ports have inconsistent lengths/depths. Even something as basic as swapping legs for a different type of leg hardly ever works, because they flat-out don't fit. It's frustrating as fuck, they could've been great.

I'm convinced they're only popular among the 20-something-year-old portion of the fanbase, because they all grew up with Bionicles and these remind them of those
>>
>>9783473
Unless they want to rehash yet another 1984 Prime every year for perpetuity until the heat death of the universe, at some point they'll have to do a Powermaster Prime/Ginrai mold.
It seems to be nearly as popular as Laser Optimus Prime, so I say give it a year or two and we'll likely see one. If Hasbro has any sense, they'll let 84 Prime lie low for a few years.

Baytrash aesthetic is objectively too busy and too western. Plots were derivitave dribble across all films. Glad the last film went out with a whimper.

Devastator balls can singularly and subjectively prove American movie taste is dogshit. Bay is too full of himself. Glad his exploding garbage is done shitting up movie theaters and the franchise as a whole.

Knightverse however has been putting in good work bringing the brand back in line. Knight chads are of superior taste and pull way more pussy. No proof of argument needed on indisputable facts.

They're connectors to make over-the-shoulder cannons. The elevator shoes are for stability.

Very Stank 6 members configuration, would need 2 very new types of mold and general transformation for CW type transformation guys in the middle, and potentially new ones for all the other ones as well, which Hasbro likely isn’t willing to spend on Monstructor of all guys
>Pic Related is another fix up guy
>>
>>9784066

Jesus christ if that's above average he needs to get higher fucking standards, the entire front fuselage just isn't there, it's a fucking empty shell that only looks good when viewed from above, the wings are way too far back and look goddamn awful and let's not forget the giant cube of kibble at the bottom they literally couldn't figure out how to square away so it's just there. This is from the same people who gave us Cyclonus, I know money is tight but that doesn't excuse any of this. The bot mode is good, I'll give him that, but I swear I can see bits of it yellow already in that video, but who can really say for sure given HOW FUCKING HIGH HE HAS THE GODDAMN CONTRAST TURNED UP. JESUS.

>So are there Transformers that have an actually good jet mode

Well, Cyclonus for a start. The only downside is that he has SEVERE yellowing problems apparently, but that's not really visible in the Plane mode.
But between this and Blitzwings jetmode and how fucking lazy Springers Helicopter mode looks it seems like Legacy is the one where they fucking mail it in with flying alt forms. A strange hill to die on, but whatever.

See I definitely think it’s gonna be retooled into skyquake but not as simple as the digibash implies

I think if Hasbro makes a skyquake, they’ll do it the same way Newage made a Depth-Charge figure out of their Cyclonus, simply by reversing it. Clusterfuck of am image pic related may be, I tihnk it works

Or just make it a G1 style TFP Skyquake and just change a couple bits to make it more real jet like I dunno, either way it could work

Sure... but in Springers case there's at least one good version of him that does all three modes relatively well. They already KNEW how to make Springer's Helicopter mode work and they just... fucking didn't. It's literally just the front half of the car with the legs rearranged. They barely fucking TRY to hide the front wheels! This from the same people who went to all the fucking trouble of making Hot Rods wheels split for his recent Voyager!
It's like they felt that they HAD to toss the Helicopter mode under the bus and doubled down on it. I wish they had retooled the T30 and called it day.

>>
>>9784259
DRIVING DRIVING
>>
>>9784287
I was pretty impressed, more than I though I'd be.
It's basically a more functional version of the MP
>>
>>9784287
I always appreciate seeing designers just sit and talk about their stuff, without any of the marketing fanfare so in that way the presentation was kind of genius, like hasbro doing their own early video review, and the guy seemed a lot more chill/less annoying than most shitty youtube toy reviewers so I give him that. It even kinda made me regret passing on the set. I still think Victory Saber is kind of a lame combined mode but Star Saber and Victory Leo are both pretty neat individually, and the fact that other figures can wear the wing pack is a cool extra, even if the platform shoes aren't compatible with any other figures "for now", whatever that means
>>
>>9784287
It's ok, they added a ton of good things, Star Saber barely has abduction movement for the shoulders and it annoys me immensely. The sword being clear was something I already knew about, but the connection for it being so flimsy only makes me more worried that it could snap whenever I try to remove it so I have to pray the tolerance for that area is basically perfect.
>>
>>9784276
Oh nice, he’s got hinged fingers. Has Jhiaxus ever held the matrix or is that just something they’re doing for more voyagers now?
>>
>>9783994
He looks pretty friggin great honestly, space jet mode is a little wonky but I don't hate it, and I'm just impressed at how clean and solid that robot mode is. I don't think I saw a single major hollow area and it still manages to be sizable. Opening hands is also a nice touch
>>9784172
This works entirely too well
>>
>>9784328
A lot of people are saying it's for a remold/partial remold as Thunderwing .

Armada Starscream isn't sharing molds with Jhiaxus from what we've heard rumored, right?
>>
>>9784287
Throughout the video, the designer mentioned areas that parts clearance was taken into account prevent other areas that could scratch painted parts of the figure. The only thing I'm concerned about is the gold foil that is going to be on Saber's jet mode for Star Saber getting scratched up when you dock with the V-star for the combined jet mode.
>>
>>9784224
they were meant to compete with MOTU
>>
>>9784334
what does thunderwing need hinged fingers for? This stuff interests me
>>
>>9784334
>A lot of people are saying it's for a remold/partial remold as Thunderwing .
If you watch the video, you can tell exactly how they'll do it. Before you fold the chest down and the arms in, there's a significant gap of space that seems perfect for the inner robot to connect.
Also the little black squares on his chest line up with thunderwings, and the folding up of the wings make sense considering how Thunderwing's pretty much disappears, while Jhiaxus' are usually pretty visible. In fact, from the back, his wings are substantially visible in the comic.
It seems like a very strange choice unless they intent was another figure.
>>
>>9784370
To hold matrix as Thunderwing.
>>
>>9784169
I'm already going to Jhiaxus but I would bu two Skyquakes and MW Starscream
>>
>>9784378
boy a lot of dudes get their mitts on that thing don't they
surprised they havent pushed any heroic important prophecied grrlbot who has her own, better matrix or something. it'd be funny seeing boobycups open up and reveal that thing
>>
Welp, got the Legacy Laser Prime. Worse than I expected, I knew he'd be bad but I didn't know the sides of the truck (which I know are painted) tab into bits once they form the sides of the torso, meaning the paint will chip right off and will be noticeable in vehicle mode. Also expected, the painted black on the toy is two different colors, the one ones for the truck nose are black while the rest is almost a dark grey or something. Head barely moves thanks to the paint and it pops off really easily since the neck has no clearance.
>>
>>9784390
Thoughts on the arms?
>>
>>9784392
Nothing that hasn't been said before, it sucks. It's not even that the shoulder articulation is separate from the pylons, it's the fact that the shoulder is way too low and it looks awkward as hell in most poses. It feels like this guy was designed by someone who's never worked on Transformers before.

The only praise I can give it is the trailer, despite being gimped beyond belief, it's still decent enough.

>>
>>9784627

>>
Jhiaxus just looks like a block with wings. The figure's a joke.
>>
How come I am seeing Legacy on the shelves but I still haven't seen SS Soundwave or Brawn or any of them? Didn't they come out much earlier?
>>
How Jhiaxus is supposed to transform
>Nosecone flips up to reveal downward pointing face.
>Head and a strip of his undercarriage swings to line his face up with the cockpit
>legs form the sides of the bomber mode and swing out and down for robot mode
>rear part of cockpit, ship side, wings, and tailfin mounted thruster folds down to form the back and arms
>Wings slide up against tailfin thruster

Instead they went with basically a seeker transformation, because Jhiaxus is a fancy seeker.
Lore-wise it makes sense, but lookwise it doesn't.

But hey, 50% of a good jhiaxus toy is about 25% more than we've ever gotten, so...

Jesus christ are you insane? The ENTIRE FRONT FUSELAGE IS A FUCKING HOLLOW SHELL WITH NO BOTTOM AND THE ALT MODE IS 50% FRONT FUSELAGE.
They literally could not figure out what to do with the arms so they're just turned into an incogruous block of kibble that the whole thing just sort of sits on!

...wait a minute. I KNOW THIS FUCKING TRANSFORMATION. It's LITERALLY step for step Skytread/Slamdance's top halfs! The only thing that's different is that they added legs to it, AND LO AND FUCKING BEHOLD it's the legs/engines part of this transformation that actually looks all right!
Sweet fucking christ I'm talking about HALF a Deluxe class Duocon here, it has a transformation from something literally a quarter of it's price point, maybe less! It is completely baffling how they just left it like this. If this was a Core Class I could forgive it, but not a fucking $40 voyager!

That said, the Robot mode is very good, and definitely where all the effort went. But compare how much more effort went into Voyager Hot Rod compared to this and it's just depressing.

I reckon partsforming is great fun on the occasional figure like the fossilisers, where the whole gimmick is that they tear themselves to pieces and build back up.

I do agree though that there are some figures with partsforming that feel more like the designer just couldn’t figure out what to do with a chunk of the vehicle.

NTA but I'll be real, I never liked Omega Supreme. He's a cool robot design but his transformation is too partsformy, and coupled with the fact his most mobile portion is his arms (with most of his body being immobile in alt mode) he just seemed too impractical as a TF to me. Personally I think the best version of OS is the Animated incarnation, although the Energon design was cool too.

>>
>>9785625
Because evergreen was a mistake
>>
>>9785372
I don't have Legacy Prime, but I do have Siege Prime and the original Laser Prime. Siege Prime is pretty close to Legacy, since Legacy's legs are obviously a retool of the former's and the trailer hitch port is in a similar spot in truck mode. Having tried it out, it only half works. The peg fits in the hole fine, but the hitch is too far forward and the trailer is practically touching the cab. So Siege Prime can technically pull the trailer, but he's only going to be making incredibly shallow turns with it. Legacy Prime likely won't be much different.

That's interesting. I tend to get fixated on redundant engineering in TFs that for whatever reason still makes it to the final figure (not whatever reason, obvs cost factor) and I thought we had a case of it here with what looks like a hinged door that is locked in place. (When I say redundant engineering I mean things like CHUG Galvatrons shoulder hook or the pilotless Transmetal 2 cockpits - which may have been more to do with redundant lore.)

TL;DR: I'm kind of retarded.

Was there ever an actual explanation for why he was called Blitzwing instead of Starscream?

>>9785718
you know what, that's fair. and weird. but it still KIND OF transformed, right?
>>
>>9785855
I have a feeling he was originally going to be Starscream early in development, IIRC the first trailer showed him in Screamier colours. Regardless, it's basically because killing a major character like Starscream that early on would have put sequel plans on the rocks, and the average moviegoer neither knows nor cares who Blitzwing is. Though honestly it's hardly the worst nameslap ever- Ramjet would have been more appropriate admittedly but given they never even call him by name in the movie it doesn't really matter. I just wish his SS figure was better, I was hyped for a good F4 Phantom TF and we got...that.

Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Thundercracker

The small version. Since CW had two Thundercrackers.
He's on the large end of Core class, we called it Legends class back in the day, and rocks a very Thundercracker-y colour scheme.

For some reason Hasbro always get's Thundercracker's colours right when they might otherwise fumble a bit with Starscream.
The red and white on the wings and that clean and crisp silver is so good. I love to see it whenever Hasbro uses it.

The nose cone and tailfins are made of that rubber that collects or generates or whatever that film of white residue.
5mm hole in the back mena you can fit whatever oversized arsenal you want onto this tiny aircraft.

Transformation is stupid simple.
Robot is basically just a downsized version of the leader toy. The intake titties are what distinguish that mold.
His body shape is much less boxy since it is based on a comic design.
Something I really like is the amount of unneeded sculpting this toys has.
The underside of the wings and the cavity the nosecone folds into are full of detail.

Articulation is kinda bare bones. Ball-jointed shoulders, elbows and hips and hinges at the knees.
Thundercracker's null rays are on combination 3mm/5mm pegs, so you can give them to other toys to hold.

that said, in the first movie, it was often hard to tell ratchet from bumblebee in some scenes. he was just an off-yellow, and there was too much shakycam.. they made him greener after that. I guess they didn't want him to be red and white because ohnoes only optimus can be red, but that's stupid.. white and red would have stood out perfectly in every scene, not confused with anyone else.

>>9786083
there's no good way to do any kind of largely-hollow vehicle especially in these movies striving for realism and not having size-changing (... except when they do. but those all seem to be their own special sub-class.). You have to just have the big empty thin-walled rear area collapse down into nothing.. or the big roomy interior of a gay little smart car, those too..
if the toys ignore that impetus and instead fill that hollow space with robot parts (which i mean how would they not), any visible vehicle parts will now be out of scale, since they'll be smaller on the toy of the robot than the robot mode looks in the movie.

you either put floor polish in the joint to tighten it or to loosen it. I think tighten. because it dries to a thin sticky film that adds friction. yeah and then like, you put grease in a joint to loosen it
some people say to put superglue into a joint and then wiggle it like mad until the glue dries, so that it can't fuse the joint shut, but that terrifies me. i've seen dry superglue still fuse things together. it's cyanoacryLATE, not cyanoacryontime.

Use a toothpick to apply small drops to friction points, it flows easily into small gaps and excess can be wiped clean. Move the joint around to get the gloss in, it needs a few hours to dry. If one application isn't enough, do another. I've used it on nearly every toy I own, it's barely noticeable unless it gets wet.

I am strongly against using super glue for joints, it's just too risky, but you can fix loose 5mm ports and posts with a very small touch of brush-on JB Super Weld. Let it dry fully, of course, before testing.

Amusingly, scalpers are the only way to get it now. Fits the hobby I guess

My one bottle will probably be a lifetime supply
For sure it will last long enough until a definitive replacement comes around

Golden GAC 200 gloss medium is basically the same thing as the pledge but much higher quality and lasts longer.

Pledge has always just been a low-grade acrylic polymer coating for flooring, artists acrylic mediums are that only in much higher quality that won't yellow the plastic over time like the Pledge occasionally would. Thin with water as needed and just apply it in thin coats, allowing it to dry inbetween. I usually do 2-3.

gettin a little overzealous, mein katzen.
but you technically have a point, since every thread begins as a spam thread as long as people don't have the balls to make a new legit thread themselves.

What does "as needed" mean in the context of a substance I have no knowledge of or experience with?

As much as you need

The stuff comes thicker than the pledge so you need to add the smallest amount of water possible (cause you don't want to dilute it any more than necessary) to get it to be a good brushable consistency. It doesn't have to be perfect since you're not going to see it of course. If you're nervous I recommend taking a paper plate or something similar and experimenting with it first so you kinda get a feel for it. It's very forgiving though, the worst that can happen if you thin it too much is you'll just need to do more coats.
