Venoms
>>
>>9775082
Never watched this guy before, but that review wasn't bad. Pretty concise in the first half with some genuinely nice posing, then details in the second half if you want them, or you can nope out if your attention span is too short. This is probably close to what I'd ideally want to do if I reviewed toys.

Anyway, these look awesome, but I'm still disappointed that these appear to be completed figures, which means there is virtually no chance that Hasbro will revise Knull's torso and give him the ability to use those wings. That is really disappointing, cause I'm definitely not gonna use them with my Venom.

This is perfection. I felt like movie Venom's head was too small for its body, this new larger head proves my theory correct. It looks incredible proportionally, it almost reminds me of the MvC2 art in that sense.

>there is virtually no chance that Hasbro will revise Knull's torso and give him the ability to use those wings. That is really disappointing, cause I'm definitely not gonna use them with my Venom.

Yeah, gonna have to take a dremel to it, likely. I don't know the source material, but even if he never wears the wings it's absurd to think casuals wouldn't want to switch them. This whole symbiote reboot thing sounds retarded as shit.

I was meaning to post this days ago but I think the Tony head from Stealth Iron Man works best alongside that Rhodey.

NTA but Todd has began to have crappy reuse more and more. Look at Rebirth Superman not having the right boots and the laziest effort to fix it. Year Two and Three Joker's Batman both had the issue with the arms breaking because they were the same mold. I'm not excusing Hasbro for doing it but let's not pretend Todd doesn't do it too.
>>

>>9780098
Sure. The repaint thing in general is a shitty idea but they also announced that they'll be taking out Platinum figures from the regular releases and making them dot com exclusives.
Generally speaking, Hasbo reuses more of the molds. I happen to collect both so I'm not bothered by it to the extent that I'm going to stop getting their product. It's just an obersarvation.
You can make a case that Hasbro utilizes more characters as opposed to McF and that would be correct.
>>
>>9780103
Clickbait is clickbait. The three Targets close to my house all still have pegs in the aisle for MLs in addition to the clearance endcap with Eternals and AoA wave 2. All three have been reset already. This is just YouTubers trying to garner views.
>>
>>9780108

>>
>>9780108
>The repaint thing in general is a shitty idea but they also announced that they'll be taking out Platinum figures from the regular releases and making them dot com exclusives.
The Platinum figures being apart of the regular assortment wasn't what I was referring to and is an issue in and of itself. I remember seeing the whole Build a Horse DKR wave at Target but if you wanted the whole set you needed to get a grey Superman. That's absolutely frustrating. Glad to hear they're getting rid of that model and making the Plat stuff its own seperwre thing, like I've been saying for months now.

>You can make a case that Hasbro utilizes more characters as opposed to McF and that would be correct.
This is absolutely why we see mold reuse. It's hard for them to justify some Z-Lister getting a whole new mold when only a handful of people will actually buy it. But at the same time, I'd rather they reuse molds so we can get a more complete lineup of characters than getting a uniquely mocked Batman every fucking wave. Plus, the mold reuse for MLs is more heavily skewed to comic characters than movie ones. MCU figures tend to have more uniquely older parts than comic characters do. Usually due to comic characters just being people in skintight costumes.
>>
>>9780129
id rathe bafs no exist so we dont have to spend $40 for a nobody fuck ugly zlister
>>
>>9780114
That's a cope. Some of the shit pegwarms, yes, but it's nice to have variety in general.
I actually like McFarlane Toys and I would've liked to see them tackle some Marvel properties, but 50 Spider-Mans and 2 regular characters is not a good model.
They should diversify, for lack of a better gay term.
>>9780124
Dr Strange was hardly that woke aside from a "I have moms" scene that was played out almost as a joke.
Eternals would be a much better example.
>>9780129
The thing with McF is, they do listen to the criticism to some extent. Being a private entity helps more or less, even though Todd is stubborn about his decisions as we know.
>It's hard for them to justify some Z-Lister getting a whole new mold
That's true, but ideally you'd have a whole new mold. And I think Todd would also rather do that, to his credit here. But he's still reusing and not having enough variety in the characters, he just does it in a more clever way.
> MCU figures tend to have more uniquely older parts than comic characters do
True. Which is kind of a shame desu. The comic stuff is just plain better than the movie stuff.
>>
>>9780132
Unfortunately the model works and they have to make money somehow for the new molds to be justified.
>>
>>9780138
>The comic stuff is just plain better than the movie stuff.
wow a head new on the same body how fucking exciting
>>
>>9780142
>Unfortunately the model works
wrong
>>
>>9780143
It's still better. Movie figures are rarely that good unless the actual design happens to be good which is hardly the case nowadays.
Look at Eternals for example. Were those interesting designs?
In the MCU context, they might work better than what "comic accurate" suits would look like, but in toy form, the comic stuff still mogs it.
The problem is that if Hasbro starts doing more unique molds, they're going to jack up the prices even more.
At which point it's best to just get an import.
>>
>>9780147

Unless you hide it well.

Only reason these chucklefucks were caught was because they had to keep on lying year after year. If it was a single time, they could have gotten away with it.

Also, since the CEO pulled this shit here, it's likely he did it before with other companies he took. Hence his better than average success.
So who knows what other shit he had gotten away with.

Who's auditing? When was the last audit? Who's in charge of said auditing? Why hasn't Disney auditing shown ANY variation from the rest of Hollywood's "Hollywood accounting"? How deep are they looking into the movie's "advertising" budget? Hi Scott!

Which Target is this? I went to Manhattan Beach CA yesterday, same thing, NO pegs for ML. Went to the valley a few days prior, same thing, just some Eternals on clearance, NO peg space for ML.

I don't care if Target takes away ML for awhile, LA sucks for collectibles, I just order most online anyway
>>
>>9780795
I think this one was in Santa Clarita. Either that or Pacoima. I mostly go in the Valley since I live there and there's like 15 Targets within a few min from me. The MoM wave basically sat on shelves here for a few weeks, then seemingly this peg removal happened and everything was clearanced.

Also my parents didn't hate me enough to name me Scott, how dare you.

And I wouldn't mind them moving it online, I have better luck there anyway.

Have you ever been to Frank N Sons btw? I keep wanting to go but it's like an hour drive and I don't wanna go to a glorified indoor swap meet to pay eBay prices.

Public companies have to get a mandatory audit every year. Their financial statements, their expenses, revenues. Operating Income, COGS. are u really being this dumb or ignorant?
Do u not know what KPMG, PWC, E&Y do??

They do independent audits of public companies because to protect the investing public & make sure no one is cooking the books. Or like idiots like u believe buying their own tickets & hiding it.
>>
>>9781066
In any ticketing industry the easiest way to find the retards is looking for the ones who think a company buys its own tickets. Maybe this would have worked decades ago, but not now.

Surely these "audits" of publicly traded studios like WB, Paramount, etc have CAUGHT the cases of "Hollywood Accounting", RIGHT? Since you ignored that part in my last post.

Hey, has that audit shown a profit for Return of the Jedi yet?? You are such a simple minded fool. Not a SINGLE audit has caught these issues, they ONLY get brought to light when individuals sue for the money they were contracted to receive. But hey, your audits are infallible right? Time and time again, right? Idiot.

Also, your picrel is literally cited as an example of Hollywood Accounting, you fucking retard. Read the link I provided.

Apostrophes don't denote pluralization unless it's at the end of the word. In this case, the apostrophes implies possession. That's also wrong for him to do, but not in the way you are scolding him for, stupid.
>>
>>9781112
Thanks queen. Can u prove that Any of these studios actually paid for tickets??

If not Fuck off. Everyone does accounting tricks. For example if u think ur gonna have a bad quarter, you can delay ur expenses as deferred or Advance a payment u are expecting to get. So it looks like u had a good qtr, but everything being held the same It will be undone the next qtr. So u only just delayed the inevitable. Yes accounting can be fucky but Disney is not buying tickets for their movies. If they were, Black Widow & shang chi & the eternals that they were hyping it up wouldn’t have been beat by a Nuclear Lizard & a Monke
>>
>>9781138

>Public companies have to get a mandatory audit every year.
LOL, and so what?

The example of Microscribe from earlier had the CEO of the company destroy all records of that audit, including breaking into the auditor's building to steal shit and changing the documents there
No one found out any of taht shit happened.

Plus, that CEO involved a lot of other high up employees and their own accountants.

Again, after YEARS of fraud, and suspicion on why their company was doing great while all other similar companies were doing bad, they were still never caught. It's only after LAY OFFS 4-5 YEARS LATER, that one of the conspirators squealed and people started getting arrested.

pic is the type of brick that was sold as a hard drive by Microscribe. They put 26,000 of these into hard drive boxes, shrink wrapped on pallets, and NO ONE FOUND OUT.

In short, fraud is very easy to do and you're only caught if you run out of money to hush up everyone involved.

>prior to the 1930s, the direction and scope of auditing was solely determined at the discretion of the auditor; until the enactment of the federal securities laws, it was clearly focused primarily on the detection of fraud, a subject that continues to receive a great deal of attention.
>Following the stock market crash of 1929 and the ensuing Great Depression, Congress passed the two acts of federal legislation that would change the worlds of investments and auditing forever—the Securities Act of 1933 and Securities Exchange Act of 1934. This momentous legislation required all SEC registrants to have their financial statements audited by independent CPAs

>Do u not know what KPMG, PWC, E&Y do??
>>
>>9781502

lol
dumbshit kid logic

> By 1926, more than 90 percent of industrial companies listed on the New York [Stock] Exchange were audited, even though the Exchange did not require audited statements by newly listed companies until 1933.
So even before there were federal laws passed in the 20s and 30s, companies wanted to be trusted by the public, thus were already auditing themselves to prove they're not frauds.

I couldn't find anything. The older stuff (Secret Wars) never had the black dots, and the modern stuff (Symbiote Spider-Man runs) that people cite as having the dots, actually never has the dots on the hands.

Not sure where people are coming from with that nonsense.
>>
>>9781635
I couldn't find any in a quick search either, thought maybe there was something I missed. Really odd. Maybe some shitty old Toybiz figure they all cum about had a black dot so now they think they all should.
>>
>>9781611
>>9781619
I must be going crazy because I could have sworn there was a dot. Not saying you're mistaken I just recall it being that way. Not from reviewers or anything. Honestly that's cool with me. I don't have to give a shit about the hole anymore.
>>

did you guys even read those issues it came out in?

I think it depended on the colorist, but a lot of the artists did draw the shooter, which was shaded and/or given more detail in close ups. So it wasn't always necessary to draw it or color it. It's akin to how the normal functional webshooters are only actually detailed (sometimes under the glove, other times over) when they're close up too, or being pointed out, but there's no sign of the button in 99% of shots of his hands.
And then the shooters disappeared altogether, because peter found out the suit can do shooters for him. No need to spend money for the chemicals to make his webs.
Or maybe the shooter only came back when he ditched the symbiote but kept on using the black suit design.

It's been like 20 years since i last read these comics, so my memory is fuzzy.
>>
>>9781662
Care to post one with these visible shooters? And that's from like 8yrs after the costume was introduced by an artist that hated the costume.
>>

>>

One hand has it and one doesn't, seems like it was intentional. Can you find a single other pic? I'll even take another from McFarlane. The famous web cover doesn't have them.

In what universe is Gwenpool "woke"?
>>
>>9781683

>>
>>9781678
since i don't have the issue, who knows if it's intentional or not. Considering the mass of webs on the other hand, it might be covered, maybe McFarlane thought it was too far away to be noticeable, or the colorist/inker didn't catch it.

Here's another page. Notice how subtle they both are, but they're still clearly drawn in.

Also notice it's different than how it's usually drawn. The normal black suit has the hole almost at the base of the wrist.
Again, i dno't have these issues (i read my older brother's comics) and it's been 20 years, so my memory is fuzzy on the whys and hows.
>>
>>9781691
Those look like regular hand lines on a skin tight suit, too inconsistent to be anything he's drawing on top.

>>
>>9781695
mcfarlane may exaggerate and suck at anatomy, but his knuckles begin and end where they should.

Also the lines are in line with >>9781662 . The shooter is clearly drawn in that panel, so this page is consistent with the other page.
Same with his knuckles.

It's very purposeful and anyone who reads or even follows a story for TV shows or movies should know that these consistent things mean that's how shit works.
>>
>>9781700
I'm talking about the lines on the back of your hands. And these shooters would be inconsistent with the style done in Secret Wars. Don't get defensive.
>>
I think the real precedence for a black hole being on the hands actually comes from Bagley's version of Venom. That seems to be the most version that most consistently has holes on the whites of his hands. Other versions of Venom and Symbiote Spidey don't seem to depict the holes as consistently.

This makes sense because a lot of people consider Mark Bagley the definitive 90s Spider-Man artist and Venom was used quite a bit during that era.

All this seems to suggest is that there should be a molded opening for the webshooters and not a dot. That's why I brought up the Marvel Select Venom.

It's hard to see but in picrel, the hole is molded, which accomplishes both the 2D look, as well as being semi-realistic about where the webs are coming from. It's a much better execution than simply painting a black dot, which never made sense and was inconsistent in comics.
>>
>>9781706
When he actually draws the white parts I mean. Bagley wasn't necessarily consistent with actually adding the white parts themselves, but when he did they had the holes.

..........................................
>>9781703
I don't think you guys understand how drawn art works.
You're too used to having 3d models from your video games being scaled up and down, so the detail never really changes, but drawn art has a lot of implied lines that don't get drawn when they're away from the "camera" or maybe it's not necessary to even give attention to it.

Also, how many toys even sculpt in the implied buttons at the palm or the barely visible slit for the webshooter nozzle to stick out of? Do they even sculpt in the nozzle?
>>
>>9781718
>..........................................

What is it, subby? What part of what I said don't you understand?

>I don't think you guys understand how drawn art works.
I've drawn indie comics for 15yrs, but please, enlighten me.
>>
>>9781718
To point:
Here's some Romita art where the webshooters aren't even detailed, yet are clearly supposed to be there because he has drawn the webshooters for other panels in many other pages and books.

So a toy should have those details sculpted/painted in, because it's supposed to be there, unless they're going for some artist accurate figure.

hi.
>>
>>9781727
Are you going to admit you thought the lines on the back of your hands were knuckles? Did you also not take an anatomy class along with not taking one for art?
>>
>>9781718
I have a pretty good idea of how artists portray different levels of detailing depending on the distance from the subject. It's not hard to understand that there is more detail the closer you get. I was just pointing out that Bagley's Venom most consistently has the holes on his hands when he draws the white patches. Even at varying distances.

Good job, subby.
>>
>>9781736
>Yeah, and i think that when the boxes are missing, it's probably just a mistake from the colorist or inker.
Possibly, but Bagley has always been one to make weird mistakes. I remember one instance of Ultimate Venom having the white spider on his costume for a single panel in his original USM arc when Ultimate Venom is not supposed to have the white spider at all. Most likely due to his how fast he cranks out his art, so you can't blame him. Gotta meet those deadlines.
>>
>>9781740
>Bagley has always been one to make weird mistakes.
i think Bagley has some really wonky issues with anatomy and perspective, but missing detail? ESPECIALLY for a cover? ehhh... he's not careless. OR is that some interior page that was used for a cover?

neither of these have anything to do with the fact that most legends lack extra hands and heads

>>9781871
The fact remains that a side eye head should never be used as a default.
Also, diapers. Why McFarlane keeps using them?
>>
>>9781874
The diapers is one thing I actually prefer, he just doesn't do them as well as he could. The crotch area of most ML look terrible, and the diaper can be used to hide joints that might give better articulation.
