Come the fuck on Planet X. I love you. You're my shining beacon of WfC/FoC figures in this sea of G1 oversaturation, but you're killing me here. Where's Soundwave? The Combaticons? Bee? Cliffjobber? Aerialbots? I really wish they'd stop re-releasing different flavors of Grimlock and get to work on new shit.

NA and MS rushing their shit to market is leading to some stupid shit.
>>
>>9547703
Am I reading that wrong or is it just your store being scummy? If I'm understanding correct, they're still charging you full price for the incomplete prime while also throwing on an extra $18 charge to get the bay later? What a joke, you'd have to be an idiot not to cancel your preorder right the fuck now and never shop there again. ShowZ just put up a new listing for the bay-less prime that's $7 cheaper, so you can either get the no-bay version for a discount now, or wait til after cny to get the bay version at the normal price.

>Those proportions are mega fucked

I’ve always felt that way about MMC’s version. The sword doesn’t look as good, the wings look bad, the arms are gorilla huge, and the legs are too super robot ish which clashes with the overall look. Even hiding the head looks bad, since it gives him a hunchback. I’ve been happy with Planet X’s offering for years.

The MMC does have a handsome facesculpt, though.
>>
>>9547806
I feel like his proportions look fine in certain images, but that photo not so much. I don't think his large upper arms/body can be helped if his chicken mode is so thicc
>>

I'm sure what you meant to say is that everything but the legs is not super robot-ish enough. It's okay, I'm sure it was an innocent mistake.

I hate that I'm getting FOMO for PX's Deathsaurus when MMC's offering is finally getting released after waiting 2+ years.

But on the other hand, I just remembered how his face looks. I'd rather get a handsome face than better proportions and tummy area
>>
>>9547848
I wouldn't be surprised, but it may also just be they got nothing else reallyin the pipeline aside from their MP line. They've completely run out of IDW characters people want, aside from that Fortmax they teased and then cancelled. I'm still mad as hell about that too, having such a retarded method of gauging appeal and then cancelling it after it eas so hyped up, let alone cancelling it originally just because PX was making one. In the land of 3p where everyone is trying to one up one another as fast as possible, MMC had an objectively better toy and just got cold feet.
>>
>>9547848
Is the Haslab also why IF threw in a Liokaiser into their very long backlog?
>>
>>9547861
>They've completely run out of IDW characters people want
There's plenty, just the JR well is drying, and even that has characters like Skids and Nautica that could be done.
>>
>>9547848
I don't think you remember how fucking long MMC had this in development. They put pre-orders for him like two years ago
>>
>>9547862

Nah, they outright said there wasn't enough interest after some survey/temp preorder thing a year ago.

>>9547865
Eh, I guess. Feels like any hype or good memories of IDW 1 have faded by now, least going by stuff like Rung and the DJD releasing to virtually no fanfare, but maybe that's more because of delays in addition to how bad everything ended.
>>
>>9547806
I don't hate IDW designs, but I like the G1 versions of PX Ismenios, MMC D-Zef, and Deathsaurus in general way fucking more.

No, I read it just fine.

MMC confirmed early last year (before Hasbro announced SS) that D-Zef was still undergoing quality development. IIRC it was a tolerance issue with something in the torso that kept him delayed for so long, otherwise he would've been ready for production.
It's only a mere coincidence that he's getting released at this time

Possible resurgence of Jinbao's OSKO NA Seekers, this time under a new company "FG". Details say that they've changed the thruster heels to Nylon (why?) and fixed the issue with the chest panels snapping.
>>
>>9547839
Yeah, sort of. You got IDW Deathsaurus and then suddenly GaoGaiGar legs. One or the other. PX just looks cleaner.

>>9547853
I’ll agree that MMC has a better head sculpt, but I never saw anything wrong with PX’s head sculpt. I think he’s still handsome.
>>
>>9547861

But PX isn't doing a Fort Max...?

>>9547848

Supposedly it was meant to come out years ago until they ran into a design issue that would have led to it breaking. Didn't get solved until last year.
>>
>>9547931

I'm still surprised anyone wants him. He did nothing of note in the comics and his design is boring as hell. The only thing he got going is that he turns into a boat.

It's the design so it's not like it could be helped. I really wish whoever designed IDW Deathsaurus (pretty sure Milne redesigned him, but Sakamoto drew his appearance first? Can't remember) kept those nice looking G1-wings though.

Finally received my NA Optimus. Going to dump some photos.
>>
>>9548099
The overhanging feet don’t bother me as much in-hand but they still feel like an afterthought. The way the legs transform on this version is pretty neat, but some time invested into working out how to fold the feet away more would have been appreciated.
>>
>>9548103
Vs the Magnus truck bed.
>>
>>9548108
Optimus’s truck bed is longer, but thinner and cleaner (apart from the feet), and the back of the cab is filled out much better.
>>
>>9548110
Vs Magic Square 1.0.
>>
>>9548114
Magic Square truck mode still has some things going for it, but this is the least fun out of the three to transform. I always seem to end up with a pile of red flakes on my desk afterwards as well, that cherry red finish isn’t very durable.
>>
>>9548118
Magic Square has the thickest bed of the three but also the cleanest cab.
>>
>>9548121
Let’s look at the trailers. They’re both crap, in my opinion. Total afterthoughts in terms of production quality.
>>
>>9548124
I actually think Magic Square wins this for me externally. It has less side detail, more top detail, but looks sharper and cleaner to me. Newage’s is unpainted silver plastic that’s absolutely covered in marbling and watermarks. Really cheap stuff by their standards.
>>
>>9548133
Pretty even for the back and the doors, I think Magic Square again wins out for painting the bumper though.
>>
Hey all, is there a 3p Devastator with individual members approximately deluxe class?
>>
>>9548136
Magic Square interior. Very plain, at least has some paint apps for the treadplates. Roller is a single casting with clip-on wheels, painted silver.
>>
>>9548077
RVDA specifically said when he revealed the renders for MMC's, that they didn't want to go forward with production, because they believed PE's version would prevent people from wanting their one. This was back 4 or 5 years ago when the PE one was relatively new. Completely retarded reasoning, but that's what we were told.
>>
>>9548141
MS Roller at least has an interesting feature I don’t think I’ve seen documented elsewhere, he can store Prime’s axe on his underside.
>>
>>9548144
I like these slide-out ramps a lot. Better than the flip-out panel on the NA trailer.
>>
>>9548147
The repair drone is very cheaply done. Single-piece casting with some rough paint apps, limited articulation on the grabby arm.
>>
>>9548137
BW will probably do an OSKO of Magic Square's devastator if you're willing to wait on the possibility of that.
>>
>>9548148
The trailer supports swing out and have to be slid down to touch the ground. One side is tighter and works better than the other on my copy.
>>
>>9548154
NA’s trailer interior. I have to begrudgingly give them this one as there is so much more sculpted detail going on here, but imagine how much better this would look with paint and some tampography.
>>
>>9548156
NA Roller. Less paint, more parts, has a piece that flips out to hold Prime’s gun.
>>
>>9548103
For me the overhanging feet are barely a problem, it's the rounded, tapering truck bed that looks bad. Honestly, I think the Magnus bed looks better, only because it's a bit more believable as a truck bed. You can sorta imagine the raised platform as some kind of attachment, at least, while there's no real way to rationalize the weird qualities of Prime's bed.
>>
>>9548157
That part can flip over one more time to receive the trailer. Nice touch.
>>
>>9548157
It’s also cross-compatible with Magnus.
>>
>>9548161
You can drastically reduce the trailer’s stability by pulling the wheels off to reveal a tray to keep your accessories in.

TFC Hercules' members are between Voyager and Deluxe.
MT Giant's are small deluxe sizes i think.

Then there's always the downsized KO of CW Devastator. Megatron in pic a Cyberverse Deluxe, but a little on the smaller side.
>>
>>9548164
And you can yank out the repair drone to pair up with those wheels to emulate that thing MP-44 did.
>>
>>9548166
The cockpit opens but sadly there isn’t a footspace cut out, so I don’t think this will seat a Dianaut for people into that kind of thing.
>>
>>9548168
The cockpit section isn’t held on by anything other than tension. It likes to fall off a lot. I’m considering just gluing it into place.
>>
>>9548169
Don’t think I’ve seen this done before. The stabiliser arms fold around to meet the ground and the sides of the trailer. Nice, simple solution to that problem.
>>
>>9548171
OK, now to show everyone why I don’t rate these trailers. Courtesy of 2006-era Takara and Macross designer Shoji Kawamori, here’s the THS-02 trailer.
>>
>>9548177
Prime’s jetpack integrates into the front of the trailer as a cooling unit.
>>
>>9548179
The ramp is spring-loaded and activated by that small grey tab on the side of the trailer. It activates automatically when you fold the sides down.
>>
>>9548181
The stabilisers automatically fold out and down when you crack open the trailer.
>>
>>9548182
The combat deck. Look at all that detail and silver paint.
>>
>>9548185
The repair drone can actually get its arm underneath itself, unlike the more recent efforts in this scale.
>>
>>9548189
Opening cockpit with a sculpted and painted interior.
>>
>>9548191
Fold-out handles so Prime can use it as a mounted gun.
>>
>>9548195
Fuel hose with bendy wire. This integrates into Roller too.
>>
>>9548198
Probably my favourite feature, compartments for all of Prime’s alternate hands.
>>
>>9548201
Roller: fully-sculpted, fully-painted, integrates with most of the trailer accessories and has working four-wheel steering.
>>
>>9548204
Still one of the best versions of Prime’s gun in my opinion. Handle folds away, magazine can be folded to use as a Gundam-style grip or removed entirely.
>>
>>9548204
How many figures can stand on top of the trailer if it were used as a riser? 2 or 3?
>>
>>9548210
Now for the important bit: how do these stack up?
>>
>>9548214
MS 1.0 has much more Chadly proportions than either NA offering.
>>
>>9548219
In terms of articulation they’re identical from the waist up. Waist down though, is a very different story. While I liked the solidity of Magnus’s legs when I first received him, his ankles look far more disjointed than Prime’s and don’t have a comparable range of motion. Prime also gains toe and heel joints, opening up his posing options quite a bit.
>>
>>9548226
Magnus’s an crunch is quite basic, similar to MS 1.0 but the joint is metal. Allows for a 90-degree crunch if you’re willing to kill the sculpt.
>>
>>9548219
I was rather surprised by how similar they are in height. Had always thought NA was scaling according to THS02/DX9 Dutch.

>>9548226
noooo not the headlights!
>>
>>9548229
Prime on the other hand can explode at the waist. He still has the metal bar Magnus does, but also a dedicated forward ab crunch and a pelvis crunch beneath that. Couple that with the universal hip joints and improved hip skirts and your only limitation is how much you’re willing to break up the sculpt.
>>
>>9548234
Get those ab joints into play with Prime’s nicer looking knee joints and added toe articulation and you can get some really deep poses. Prime also feels somewhat more premium than Magnus, like they really went the extra mile with the tolerances and paint.
>>
>>9548236
He also has a Tamashii stage-compatible hole in his nether regions, so not even gravity can hold you back from making this thing pull off poses Prime was never meant to.

I’m unlikely to pick up MS’s 2.0 unless there’s a decently-priced version without a trailer, my personal rule is never pay more than $100 for a Legends figure. This NA Prime is more than nice enough that I don’t feel like I’m missing out on much, though.
>>
>>9548231
It’s the same with their Megatrons, too.

>>9548213
Just for you, anon. You might be able to squeeze three smaller figures on there if tried. There’s very little difference in size between the THS-02, MS 1.0, and NA trailers.
>>
>>9548248
Hybrid style convoy is one of my favorite package releases since it came out. I need to get a second one sometime. It's what started my love of small detailed figures.
>>
>>9548265
I love that figure so much, even if the truck mode is complete trash. I’ve had my original since 2006 and it’s seen better days, I wouldn’t mind picking up one of the reissues either.
>>
>>9548067
Imperfect or not, I still kinda want this. I wish PE was more active.

>>

Sixshot and Overlord were OS to fit with the actual IF scale, so not CHUG scale. Starscream was OS but none of the other Seekers were. Jinbao has done T2 Megatron and they are now doing OpOp, so they seem to be interested in BW. They are also KOing figures that are 2 years old or so, there may still be quite a wait on newer stuff.
>>
>>9548322
For me MT was always a place holder for something better to come along. The unpainted swirly gray plastic used for the shins, feet and gun had no place on a MP figure. Not to mention those thigh ratchets.

i've had my MT for almost 4 years and it's my favorite desk toy ever, still as solid as the day i bought it and it's had dozens and dozens of transformations. Don't see such durability with the FT stuff.

RIP maketoys.
>>
>>9548322
The only advantage I see over MT is not having swirly silver plastic. That was always a real blemish over the perfect that was Downbeat.

Fanstoys looks pretty much as good, but I don't see why anyone who already owns Downbeat would switch to the Fanstoys version.

I have him and galaxy. They are why I love legends so much. When you can take a big chunky boy like galaxy convoy and have him be a good toy at 4 inches I don't need massive ones.
>>

During the early-mid 2000’s my local comic shops started stocking a lot of Japanese import Transformers, which was what really got me into the line outside of some childhood nostalgia for G1/G2. I had a few of the Japanese G1 reissues in the white boxes, but the Hybrid Style, World’s Smallest Transformers and Micromaster combiner blindboxes were and are some of my favourite TF toys of all time.

I’d honestly love to see a company take a crack at World’s Smallest Transformers, retaining as much of the G1 toy aesthetic as possible but adding in full articulation. Probably a pipe dream but that would really hit the spot for me.

>>
>>9550229
Just keep in mind that you are 100% rolling the dice with 3p combiners until a full release has been reviewed. That being said this and the other one look objectively better than Takara's offering this time, so it feels like less risk than usual.
>>
>>9550234
Eh I don't know about that. I know people have their issues with the Toyworld/Zeta (Moonstudios is Zeta) but nothing about them has been catastrophic.
>>
>>9550229

Just the two. Though it looks like the next two are in production. Granted we don't know how stable the thing will be. Zeta/Moon have a decent track record, but combiners of this scale that don't use super pants or shell torsos have not been successful in the past. It should at least stand though.
>>
>>9550242
Yeah I just think directly comparing what we've seen to the Takara one is night and day worse than it's ever been. That and we can at least see what the TW and Zeta ones look like as opposed to waiting god knows how long for the Takara one.
>>
honestly when was the last time a 3p combiner had some kind of deal breaking issue in one of its releases?

Full functionality in robot mode and it adds ankle rotation. This does require removing the ankle pins but that's actually fairly easy. Use an appropriately thin pin punch or nail, give them a whack or two with a hammer on the back side of the leg, pull out with pliers.

I will admit I hamhanded one foot and accidentally tore the rotation part off one, it's held on by a screw, and that screw is under a pin, so to fix it took a little effort but JB Superweld can work miracles with stripped threading. I don't mind doing stuff like this because I am insane, but I would hate for others without a toy mod/surgery kit and possibly-autistic dedication to be in my position. Be careful with it, don't yank on the foot lol

MMC
>take Head with Headsculpts

PX:

I was really excited for a non-shit IF Soundwave but this just looks lackluster
>>
>>9558548
You can tell why they avoided releasing it during the NA & MS Soundwave round some years back.
>>
>>9558588
All the same those were 2020 releases, and this one was first on IF's 2019 docket.

This thing never should have made it to release. IF should have completely gone back to the drawing board and started from scratch.

He looks great, but you'd have to be some kind of retard to buy this instead of waiting for the metallic version that'll probably also have transparent windows. Last year I was dumb enough to but the normal version of MS Megatron because I had only just gotten into legends stuff and now I regret it and am now seriously considering buying the metallic version of megs to replace him.
>>

Who's the left one?

>Last year I was dumb enough to but the normal version of MS Megatron
Yeah that happened to me too, and it happened with Soundwave as well. So yeah, of course I felt bad for a bit for missing out on Perceptor...until the X version was announced, so now I'm glad I "missed" the first one.

Generation Toy's Hot Spot, out...soon? Maybe?
>>
>>9558525
my gripe is the paint on this release. something about its application makes it look cheap or like it will scrape off easily

The one thing I would maybe consider waiting for is the one that makes up the hips. He's going to make or break the thing, and this isn't a combiner with a whole fake crotch, so it's a different set of QC issues than some previous combiners at this size.

All they really needed to do was tuck the ribcage of the rat mode up into the backpack a bit but it looks like they used fake parts for the bot mode's shoulders. Like it looks fine I guess but there's so many caveats and shortcuts from the look of it that I cannot give a fuck about this thing.

Yeah I got lucky with TM Primal. I accidentally ordered the reissue with translucent plastic and I don't want that. Ended up finding someone on TFW who was selling. Got him on there. I still haven't gotten the reissue from TF-Direct and the fuckers won't let me cancel. Ordered Oct 3.

No...not really? You most likely just need some precision bits, like a PH0 and 00. If you can find a driver that maybe has a ratcheting feature that might also help.

Screws you just unscrew like any other. Pins will require some thin rod and a hammer to knock out. And then some pieces just snap together. It's unlikely you'll find pieces that are held together by glue.

If you don't buy Deathsaurus now you'll regret it like all the people that missed out on Carnifex.

Is this they first time they showed it unpainted? Looks much more complete than I was expecting

Also fuck I was supposed to have bought some gundam kit by now or something to practice building a model kit on.
>>
>>9560656
I just built the Sentinel Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann.

The build was easy but they rely way too damn much on stickers to do the color work.

I've only build the Devastator from these guys, an acquaintance got the hot rod but it disintegrated on them apparently. Hopefully this one is better quality?

I wish I wasn't retarded and could do complicated model kits

These other pair of boobies are the ones that got delayed, ETA mid-Feb now.
>>
>>9560783
There are some posters on the Chinese boards saying/showing that they've received theirs so it seems a small number was dispatched.
>>
>>9560673
That's odd, I built the IDW Hot Rod kit last week, zero problems. Actually I would say it was very much an improvement over the previous Furai kit I did, Drift. The instructions were better, I didn't end up with what feels like a quarter of the kit but in a different colour left over on the sprues when I was done and the colour separation was much better, there's only like 9 stickers plus the Autobrand and they're all for super small areas. Not sure how your mate 'disentergrated' it but it's not a fragile kit and I can't see how it would happen
>>
>>9560921
Not the other anon but I really want to get the Rodimus kit but I've never once done any sort of model kit- could a total novice still do it and have it come out even somewhat decent?

Dickbot's up next after the leg bots so we'll find out soon. He's pretty huge and robust-looking so I'm not too worried. I just hope he isn't sharing any hip joints with the robot mode because it would probably make it a pain in the ass to move him if soo.
>>
>>9561495
Personally, looking at the size of his legs, I can see that being the case, much like with MMC's Onslaught.
>>
>>9560673
The polycaps on the first ones did disintegrate on my optimus and idw megatron but not starscream. Ive been more careful with posing it since i expect them to wear out

To the contrary its release date is still January. The only reason why American sites are showing later is due to shipping issues.
