The 60 joytoy figures is a rumor, but they've been right about the terminators, so if it is true then my wallet is not fucking ready.
>>
>>9517574
Anyone got any news on their gamestop raven guard? These bitches charged me for it, but the figure is still in limbo.
>>
>>9517643
this is the third time they have pinged my card on the preorder, i just chalk it up to theyre shitty system thinking its time to send it out when they dont actually have them.
Amazon releases that wave on the 15th of jan, so i doubt gamestop will have it any earlier then that.
>>
>>9517618
put up your wishlists anons!
what do you hope is in that 60 joytoy figure list

I NEED:
-inquisitor (and friends)
-rogue trader
- imperial guard
- black templars
- rhino?
-cultists
-jeans stealers
>>
>>9517666
I want more vehicles. An outrider squad would be sweeeet
>>
I hope Joy Toy does some Space Ork Boyz
>>
>>9517793
Now that i think about it, they could come cheaper than Primaris since they are not that tall, but on the other side they are fairly wide, muscular and if they are generous enough to add design variety then it could be around the same price.
>also
I'd love to see JoyToy's take on a Warboss, specially the old Ghazghkull model or the DoW 1 Warboss design.

Is anyone getting this one?
>>
>>9518215
Hell nah. Bandai really went off the rails with that one, everyone clowned on it. I don't remember anyone saying anything positive at all after that reveal.
>>
>>9518215
If it was old school termie I would pay any amount for it. But GW pushing new shit its a hard pass for me.
>>
>>9518215
If he was the price of the other bandaid releases i would have had a long hard think about it and probably gotten it. For the price they're asking they can suck my left nut.
>>
>>9518227
Nah, you know it was GW that lobbied for the price
>>

Like many anons before me, I hope mcfarlane releases some Tech Priests and Skitarii. I want to get some necrons and make a Mechanicus level diorama
>>
>>9518215

Yup.
>>
>>9518764
I'm waiting for them to move onto specialists like Librarians, Chaplains, etc.
It will probably happen eventually.
>>
>>9518764
I'm just hoping they up the amount of figures they're putting out to around DC, spawn levels. McFarlane has a fucking cashcow in his hands with Warhammer but compared to those other 2 lines the waves have been a bit slow going.
>>
>>9518810
Same, would love to get a some special stuff, maybe we could get some characters, especially with Space Marine 2 coming out. Would like to see Titus, Grimaldus, Helbrecht.
>>9518849
I’m newer to mcfarlane, I only collected their halo line before, but, yea, it seems like warhammer is kinda sluggish
>>
did anyone get anything?
>>
>>9518764
On one hand, I really want him to release chaos space marines, old mcfarlane would have had a fucking field day with them.
On the other, I'm not sure he'd do them justice anymore.

I've got my four MkVII helmets painted including a sgt version. Just waiting on the arrival of my primaris marines. I'm going to order a beaky marine kit and paint it white(veteran).
>>
>>9517594
Nice custom. I wish I had the materials and knowhow to customize.
>>
Ignore the dogshit pose but I got the bandai white scar. I got and ended up selling off the imperial fist, and was tempted to do the same to this one, but at least right now I don’t think I will. The colors are nice as hell and it’s given me a whole new appreciation for white scars. The price is still fucking insane though, best case scenario this’ll just be the last one I buy unless they figure out their shit and stop making them insanely expensive.

Hoping too that the killteam box means that GW will start selling their minis instead of forgeworld

>>
Has anyone made any serious attempt at improving McStartes articulation? Seeing all these gorgeous customs standing and posing awkwardly just kills me inside everytime.

>>
>>9520557
>>
>>9520469
yeah, it's pretty annoying how the paint is lackluster. the airbrushing on the helmet is kinda haphazard too. it's a shame that you have to decide between either warhammer figures with a decent price, paintjob, and character variety but lackluster articulation, or warhammer figures with good articulation and more accessories (the same ones, mind, but objectively more) but pretty unacceptable paint and feel for the price. i guess i should consider joytoy for figures that have basically everything minus the scale i actually like lol.

Got five inch or maybe joes to pose him with?

>>9519741
Tau troops are not a must but I would love for McFarlane to do that guy for my JoyToy Warhammer. I believe the scale would be correct.

>>
Showz has the Terminators up. $350 for the whole set. Jesus fuck
>>
>>9521568
I bet a good chunk of that comes from the shipping.
>>
>>9521585
That's before international shipping though so that's not true at all. You can get the set for $230 from China. Where does this $150 markup come from
>>
>>9521568
>>9521585
>>9521588

Someone needs to ask Warhammer community on twitter if they plan to make these directly available through the GW site like they did wave 1. The markups for importing them are getting rough.
>>
>>9521592
I'm sure GW will charge a markup as well and considering how far behind they are right now I can't foresee selling these
>>
>>9521588
Oh. I assumed that was with shipping, that's fucked up.
>>
So anybody know a good middleman for ordering shit from Tmall/Taobao?
>>
>>9521607
There's superbuy, but there might be a delay before they place the order for you.
>>
>>9521568

THat's not the termis. THat's:

3 Termis
2 Chaos Marines
1 Chaos Lord

That's all 6 guys.....
>>
>>9521610
Yeah but all 6 cost $230 on tmall, so that markup is insane
>>
>>9521614

Ahhhhh.

How much is the Invictor? ShowZ is $220
How much were the first wave? They didn't have much GW markup if I recall, the problem being tho that you're getting them months alter.
>>
>>9521620
I don't remember the exact price for those but the markup wasn't as bad as these chaos boys.
>>
>>9521620
Idk about the Invictor but like the Space Wolf set is only about $20-30 more.
>>
>>9521633
Being a heretic is suffering...
>>
>>9521630
>>9521633

BBTS never put up the invictor so I can't placeholder it waiting for GW to decide when they will do pre-orders.

I'm also annoyed that the delay between the release in China and when the wave 1 ordered from GW are expected to arrive. Seems to be so long.

I bit the bullet on the Invictor, but I think I should be willing to wait on the Chaos guys since the markup is so big.
>>
>>9521639

I take that back Invictor went up on BBTS when I wasn't looking.
>>
>>9521641

And now I feel stupid because it's $20 cheaper on BBTS I don't seem to be able to cancel the ShowZ one. Damn.
>>
>>9521639
I don't know what the fuck is going on at GW. Maybe they weren't expecting joytoy to make so many figures in such a short time.
>>
>>9520557
>>9520561
>>9520563
>>9520566

They seem to stand a wee bit above Spawn, and that MK Spawn is well shorter than the Marines. As expected from the first time it was scaled with the Reiver.

Seeing them out in the wild already gives me hopes of seeing if there is a chase variant or not this week.

I wanted to get into miniature painting since I got a great new job and can afford a new hobby, however I have two issues

1. I live in an apartment
2. I have pet rats

which makes doing air brushing and spraying a primer/zenith really hard. Rats have sensitive respiratory systems and spraying indoors is difficult anyway. I don't even have a window for ventilation, though I do have a patio door.. but it's freezing here. I could theoretically get a ventilated booth and use the exhaust out my patio door, but this is getting really involved for something I've never tried and am not even sure I'll like

Another option is paint on primer and zenith manually. But that leaves the smell. Which brings me to my question. How bad is the smells for paint on primers, and the paints in general, etc? Mainly worried for my rats.
>>
>>9524906
Just start painting with paintbrushes and acrylic paints like Vallejo or Citadel. There is no smell and water based acrylics are none toxic. I don't paint minis but I paint 1/18th figures and I really enjoy painting using only paint brushes.

>>
>>9525527
Sucks for you, I’m not having any issues.
>>
>>9525506
Todd needs to get his ass in gear and release marines in the deluxe version, something akin to what he did with mandarin spawn. More paint apps, couple more weapons maybe.
>>
>>9525506
Honestly I wish Todd would release more Marines, a marine a wave with different helmets and weapons would help cover the cost of more unique molds in the wave and I doubt many people would complain.
>>
>>9525514
I have the first set of WH40K JoyToy figures and they are more articulated than McFarlane. I speak about the Bandaid ones as I don't own one. They are also made and have some nice paint apps. No QC issues so not sure what you are talking about. Sounds like you are talky out your ass.
>>
>>9525527
Which joints? Mine are still basically new, only issue I have is on one of them the waist ball joint keeps falling out because the hole is crooked or something. I also have a set of the joytoys on PO as well, so I'll be able to compare how they measure up next month or so
>>
>>9521048

>>
>>9525678
JoyToy crap is infamous for not being able to stand the test of time.
>>
>>9525729
The shoulder joint on mine is annoyingly loose, I can't get his arms raised up much since it just slumps back down.
>>
>>9525751

JoyToy is a brand well known for their horrible plastic that snaps from regular use.
Ive had a few figures break just randomly, but thankfully they came with extra joints, because even JoyToy knows how crappy their plastic is.
Newer figures don't have those extra joints, btw. So i've only managed to fix those that broke because i bought multiple JoyToy figures in the past that came with the extra joints.
>>
>>9525758
I mean overall I really like the figure, especially given the price. I was just a bit annoyed since it reduced the already limited articulation that the figure had.

I don't like dinky little toys. They just feel fiddly and cheap and irritating to me. These JoyToy marines are not that. They are rather on the tall side for 1/18 figures, towering over nearly everything else in my collection in that scale. They also feel REALLY bulky once you strap on all their gear and get them in squad formation.

Aside from one or two things that keep popping off when limbs are put in certain angles, I am beyond pleased with the plastic quality, look, feel of the joints, and just overall polish. I have to give particular praise to the paintjob and sculpt--they have this magical chunky quality to them that make them feel like supersized miniatures. It's absolutely perfect. I had heard JoyToy made "just ok" toys, so I was worried, but these are my firsts from them and I would rate them like, a 9.5/10. Absolutely worthwhile in my book for any 40k fan.

Also i think the recruit edition has simpler models, to answer your question.

Good start so far. Finding the balance between "getting it done timely" and "being happy with it" is something that comes with time.

Head to /tg/ and find the 40k thread. You can ask questions to your hearts content. Its still 4chan but beginners asking questions is something ive never seen shunned or shit on for

>Jesus, why are the Joy Toiy Black Legion so much more expensive than the Imperial Marines?
Bruh, are you being serious? Ok, I'll humor you. Look at the existing Marines. Fairly generic, small changes to loadout here or there, but nothing major. It's basically just the same mold shit out four times with small changes that do not require remolding, like pasting grenades on the chest or swapping in one unique piece here or there.

Now look at the Black Legion guys. Like 75% of the parts on each of them are unique sculpts. In fact, the only parts I can see being reused are the feet, the arms, and one thigh. They are also much more elaborate and detailed sculpts than the standard Marines.

I am not a rich person, but I understand paying for quality. JoyToy is doing some fantastic work, and while they do make you buy big packs, the cost-per-figure works out to totally reasonable for what you're getting. I do think the Black Legion pricing is a little funky, but only in the sense that I think either the Marines are a little too pricey or the Termies are a little too cheap. Can't decide which yet.
>>
>>9527787
No offense, thank you for taking the effort, but this is not actually cheaper. This is $118.24 + 7.36 shipping. ShowZ is a little cheaper and has free shipping.

Ali - $125.60 shipped
ShowZ - 114.99 shipped
>>
>>9530782
I live in Canada so shipping I don't get free shipping. Also with aliexpress you can shave a few dollars here and there with coupons that they offer every other day.
>>
IT'S 2022! WHERE THE HELL ARE MY DEATH KORPS?!?!
>>
>>9531008
Still cheaper, they say that the shipping they're currently using for Canada typically costs $6-8 CAD. Making the ShowZ total range from $119.69 - $121.29 USD. So still cheaper than Ali's $125.60, even if only by a few bucks.

Also, much as I love Ali, the shipping takes forever. ShowZ packages usually reach me in less than a week (once it even got here in 4 days).

Jesus Christ, I was one of those people who didn't like the Invictor Warsuits at all, but I involuntarily drew in a sharp intake of breath when I saw this photo. The perfect balance even though this thing is huge, the fact that it's HOLDING A GIANT STORM BOLTER, my beloved Space Wolf colors...shit, I think I just sold myself on this thing.

Also, in these new shots we can see the pilot closer, and...well, I was hoping the Space Wolves' lack of edge highlight was because it was an early proto, but here we can clearly see the warsuit has it, but oddly the figure does not. That makes it feel a lot more intentional. This is a strange choice, and I'm not really diggin it. The edge painting was one of my favorite parts of the line, and it's a bummer I won't get to experience it on the Space Wolves I'm ordering,
>>
>>9531621
Yeah the lack of edge highlighting for the space wolves was a stupid fucking idea on their part since the chaos Marines have it too. I know they mentioned something about the space wolves having metal joints, but I think that only applies to the marines and not the invictor, and they could have had BOTH metal joints and edge highlighting and just charge a little bit more. I usually collect 1/6 figures and sometimes when the chinese community bring issues like this to these toy companies they do get some things changed before release, but I'm not familiar with joytoy and with how fast these figures get released, I'm assuming their not that going to be that flexible with changes to the final product. I'm hoping it's just a mistake and they were rushing to get these promo shots done on time though.

>>
>>9532135

Bandai could put slightly more effort into the paint apps considering the prices that are being charged for these. The articulation blows mcfarlane out of the water.

I also dislike the fact the weapons are oversized (I've seen this problem in the SW SHFiguarts too)
>>
>>9532270
Not to defend either company because they both have problems but Primaris weapons are horribly oversized and GW doesn't seem to have given either company direction on whether to use heroic scale or actual scale or anything at all, especially considering how random the art of them is.
>>
Out of the three companies currently doing figures, who do you think will do Primarchs first, if at all?
>>
>>9532540
Joytoy 1000%. Most likely Booty Guilliman. They're just knocking really solid sculpts so fast.
>>
>>9532540
Primarchs might be a little bit too big for the scale bandai and mcfarlane's going with. Also, I don't think I've seen bandai do non-anime faces before, but I've only really bought their gundam model kits before. I could see joytoy doing them since they're already doing big ass figures like the invictor. Hopefully they'll make a Mortarion figure and plague marines to go with it.

White Scars are neat, but this looks even crappier now that JoyToy has shown their hand. It's not only not worth it, but there are substantially better options now.

im concerned that the blue metallic paint will scrape off those hands, also doesnt it look like they were applied to the wrong hands as well? looks like it was applied to gripping hands instead of the spread ones.

So like, what's up with the sockets on the hands for the joytoy guys? The ones out of the box are huge and barely stay on, while the others are tiny and I have to heat them to get them on every time.
>>
>>9538867
Dunno, but as a related note, check the balljoints on yours. One of mine had a burr that was improperly trimmed off the sprue, and it was making hands pop off super easily. I cut it off and its better now.

I would have liked to see a better hand connection in general though. They never feel like they "snap into place," and they come off way too easily.
>>
>>9538904
I have no experience with 1/18 figures, but how do other companies deal with this?

I'm on the edge about those. They are not my chapter and there's nothing particularly notable about them, they just look really fucking cool.

I want em, but I'm not sure I can stomach it after ordering the squad of Space Wolves and the Warsuit...that's a lot of money. They feel frivolous since none of them come with really special accessories, and they're not a chapter I collect. They're an impulse buy basically.

Just got my death company. First joytoy figures for me and I really love these! They look really good in person and the only complaints I have are that one of their guns still has the "ultra" printed on the side, and the wash for the gold on the chest is bad (looks like it dried up or something), and theres a bit too much white sprayed on the blood angels insignia on the shoulder pad, but these are pretty minor and can be fixed whenever I feel like it. Articulation is pretty good and they just look cool as hell. Can't wait for my ultramarines and invictor.

Got the squad fully assembled. Forgot to mention but I didn't have any issues swapping out the hands, could be that they fixed that issue?
>>
>>9546784
God, these look good. Where'd you get em from? I went with bbts so I prob won't see mine till March or some shit.
>>9546824
>could be that they fixed that issue?
So the sockets on all the hands are the same size? Cuase on the incursors it seemed like the ones on in the package were stretched out, and the rest were a bit too small. That's a relief if so.
>>
>>9546846
Got them from lockertoys, they do charge more for shipping but it's because it's by air so it'll arrive sooner too. I need to check the sockets again to make that comparison, but I didn't need to heat up the hands to swap them in or out, worked perfectly fine.

These are 3D printed resin parts right? Isn't resin notoriously brittle? Very beautiful prints nonetheless.

I have no idea, just got them off a forum.

Yeah, that sounds like it's fixed then. Cool, cuase this was the set I really wanted.
>>

are they legit?
>>
>>9547324
I got mine >>9546784 >>9546824 from them. I got it from them because I heard they have some kind of contact with joytoy (can't confirm if this is 100% true though), so if I get a crap figure I was hoping I could get some sort of customer support for it.

I meant I got the pictures off of a forum. Someone on tfw2005 said they're going to ask the creator if they're going to sell those parts.

>JT have chaos termie mould
>no planned termie releases
I know GW are anal about pushing only their new stuff but thats BS that they wont even allow JT to make easy money by releasing loyalist terminators.
>>
>>9548375
It almost feels vindictive at this point. Like the reason they made primaris is because marine players never bought new models, mostly because all of the marine kits after 2011 were absolute horrid shit most of the time. I wouldn't be surprised if their current CEO or board had a hatred for them being such a large chunk of their userbase and spending si little money.
>>
>>9546920
Printed resin isn't that brittle, unless you designed something brittle in the first place (like very thin/spindly parts). You still shouldn't throw it around or drop it on hard floors or anything, but no more so than any high-end toy. I have many resin printed pieces and they don't feel particularly fragile.
>>
>>9548378
>Like the reason they made primaris is because marine players never bought new models... I wouldn't be surprised if their current CEO or board had a hatred for them being such a large chunk of their userbase and spending si little money.
I didn't know that about GW having a hard time selling SM during that period. I was always under the impression that GW loved SM players since they seemingly buy up all the new stuff. I guess thats a recent thing that came with primaris.
Still, I dont understand why they feel it necessary to phase out oldmarines in terms of merchandising as they still are iconic to 40k and probably always will be.
Its not like people can't make the connection that oldmarines were "upgraded" to primaris marines and would think its a whole different franchise.
>>
>>9548419
What do you mean? GW has been doing this since rogue trader days.

Remember how RT era marines used to look, then how they gradually changed as they got into better metal sculpts and plastic sets.

Hell look at what GW did with Deldar, when they got their update and EVERYTHING changed because their sculpts came on so far between iterations. It was the same aesthetic sure, and you can see where they changed it to make the new sculpts impressive, but if you side-by-side them there's significant differences.

If anything I think GW was forced to rebrand marines because they were so popular, if they'd released a couple of sets which didn't use the old marine base parts then they'd have gotten pushback because they were making marines less compatible. By cutting it off they got to get ahead of that and jus say "Yeah we're doing it differently now, but the models are better sculpts."
>>
>>9548375
Are aggressors supposed to be their replacements? Because they just don't look as cool.
>>
New intercessors just came in. A few QC issues (paint scuffs on the chest) aside, they’re pretty great.
>>
>>9548788
repeat that in english please, way too much reddit speak for me to handle
>>
>>9549409
They look amazing! I'm still waiting for my smurf boys from showz but I got my death company now. As for the paint scuffs, I've managed to scrape most of them off from my guys using my nail, not sure if you wanna risk that though.
>>
>>9549447
So are the scuffs on top of the paint, or is it the paint rubbing off? I "solved" the issue by painting it over.
>>
>>9549495
For me the scuffs were on top of the paint, there was some excess gold paint on one of my guy's shoulder pads that I managed to easily scrape off. Another one of mine had a very little amount of red on top of the helmet as well (I could have just left this one alone desu), and I scrapped it off no problem as well.
>>
>>9548794
I think so, sadly. And I just find Aggressors straight-up ugly. Unlike the threatening hunchbacked silhouette of Terminators, these guys just look comedic to me. They look overburdened and fatigued and chubby, and between the GIGANTIC gauntlets and ammo belts and missile racks and somewhat awkward poses, they look like they're struggling just to stand upright.
>>
>>9548788
Yes, I remember, but I honestly see that as different. That was like a refinement, the newer stuff was like Rogue Trader Remastered sorta. Cleaner sculpts, more defined details, less mushiness, but still retaining many of the same design elements (newer armor marks nonwithstanding, of course, because that was always a thing).

I think ultimately the biggest issue to me is that Primaris is fucking ugly. I've never met anyone who preferred it to the older minis, at best they just accepted it. I dislike the new proportions, the changes they've made to the armor, and the fact that they're "overwriting" rather than "supplementing." If Primaris had been just an optional addon I would have been fine. But the fact that GW is using ONLY PRIMARIS from now on in all media and pretending all the old stuff doesn't exist is bullshit.
>>
>>9549409
JoyToy is really doing some magical work. This is quite possibly the first time I've looked at Smurfs and thought, "holy shit, I want them."

Eh speak for yourself, I do like Primaris in genera, and while they are still lacking some of the flavor the more unorthodox chapter had, they are still great.

The only thing I wish they keep or update but not so much are terminators. It seems old marines fanboys are just too stubborn to accept new shit.
>>
>>9549628
Primaris proportions are way better.
>>
>>9549628
There are plenty of people who liked it apart from the OG ones. They were Forgeworld OC exclusive models for like a decade before they were introduced into mainline.
>>
>>9549931
Ohh, I kinda like that chest-face it's got going on, very Gurren Lagann feeling. That plus the four wings make it feel like a weird fly or mosquito robot, which I really like. But I have also heard very bad things about the feel and construction of those mechs, so I am uneasy about dropping $100+ on one.
>>
>>9550065
>It seems old marines fanboys are just too stubborn to accept new shit.
I dunno what to tell you. I'm a pretty easygoing person, and tend to just roll with change in the majority of my life. But no matter how I try, I just can't find Primaris good looking. It feels like I'm just trying to lie to my brain.

New joytoy gravis reivers and chaos marines
>>

>>9550646
wtf joytoy stop, I literally can't fucking afford it anymore.
>>
>>9548788
I was more referring to the merchandising GW has allowed recently with the McF, JT and Bandai figures

idk if its an apt comparison but I look at the current Halo toyline and they still find the ability to make figures of the Halo 1 Mk V armor Master Chief despite it obviously not being current.
So why cant GW relax in just this small section of third party official merchandise?
>>
preorders will be up for hellbrutes, bladeguard veterans, and redemptor dreadnought on 1/20 too apparently.
>>
>>9550646
>>9550727
JoyToy are really going all out with 40k, not that I'm complaining.
I imagine they'll be sitting pretty after they get all these new sculpts out just releasing repaints of them, I hope the other chapters don't get left behind outside of their unique units.
>>
>>9550646
I hate all of these designs except for the Chaos stuff. GW's Termie "replacements" have never looked good, and they still don't. BUT, I will grudgingly admit that this is the best these designs have ever looked. JoyToy is doing their best working with bad source material.

Also, I really like their Powerfist sculpt, it just looks right. None of the 3D printed options so far have done the fingers right.

So are there any diecast parts on these? I'm a little curious that people are saying the upcoming Space Wolf Intecessors have diecast, cause they look to me like the same exact molds.
>>
>>9551777
No diecast on these death company guys, but spikeybits had an article talking about the space wolves and they translated what joytoy said about them: "The space wolf combat unit has as many as 21 joints on the basis of restoring the original settings, plus 25 joints for the replacement of equipment at the waist of the character. The joints are made of new-strength steel material technology, which is sturdy and resistant to play while ensuring the integrity of the shape."
https://spikeybits.com/2021/12/new-space-wolves-and-chaos-joytoy-figures-spotted.html

Too bad space wolves look like they're not going to have edge highlighting, so I'm skipping them.
