- Are you still gonna buy merchandise based on Revelation (nendo, minis, Masterverse)?
- How would you salvage the second and future installment of Revelation?
- Did you leave anything MOTU on your Christmas/holiday wish list?

Stinkor came in today. I wouldn't say he STINKS, but he does have a noticeable odor compared to other figures. Nothing too bad, but my head kinda hurts after getting a few good whiffs.
>>
I liked part 2 and I'm looking forward toys. I wish we had a confirmed list of Wave 8 origins and preorders
>>
>>9464562
I liked it too, but it’s fucked that the gang keeps Orko from going back to Subternia but do nothing to bring back Fisto and Clamp Champ.
>>
>>9464577
Lyn just wanted a free trip to Trolla (assuming that's where she is). It really is a missed opportunity for Clamp Champ and Fisto not to have also come back for the final battle.

Lots of toys I'd want from the series. I know people want the classic looks but I actually want the unique looks (that I liked) from the show. We're bound to see another MAA, another Teela, another Evil-Lyn, etc, so if they have looks exclusive to the show, like MAA's makeshift gear, or Teela or Lyn's Sorceress attires (or both their super forms), I'd be all for it. Randor with sword and pistol would make for a cool figure too.

Do you think Pixel Dan felt awkward watching this scene with his wife and kids?
>>
>>9464477
Not sure how true it is, but I took it that when she was further amped by the celestial convergence, at that point she just had all the power she needed to stay that way, and at that point had to willingly depower.

When she depowered, poor Beastman at the bottom of that drop with a broken back wondering if anyone was coming to help him. Could be a cool potential victim of MotherBoard, actually, to both save him and give him motivation to serve the Horde. Not sure how much Grizzlor would like that.

Why the fuck did Mattel approve this
>>
>>9464602
It was technically aimed towards adults, according to them. They may have gone a bit far though, especially knowing that kids would be watching. But you could say the same about some outfits, but those were received well.

You could also liken it to some nudity in a pg13 show, though it being MOTU might have caught some off guard.

That flashback was weird. Clearly implied that Teela-Na had a baby with Duncan and soon after it was born decided "I'm gonna be a Sorceress locked in a castle."
I definitely prefer Straczynski's Filmation origin for her.

Fisto memes on the rise, Stinkor investors panic-selling rn

Wasn't that only implied in 200x? I don't recall her father ever being officially confirmed, either way.

It can be the same origin with only his baby dady being changed, something like "she had a debt with the old sorceress, but she was already pregnant so the old sorceress waited until Teela-Na gave birth to Teela", nothing mayor changes. Hopesorceress Teela gets a toy.

She had a good time in the DC crossover and wanted to remember her time with Batman.

Her hat is great. They didn't touch on why she had a bat on her head though, especially per the story, as I assume Skeletor wouldn't much care for Horde imagery.

Ya, I predicted that Teela would become the Sorceress and that Adam would survive and become He-Man again. What a mess that both of those happened. What wouldn't have been a mess would be getting He-MAndra and for Adam to have died, leaving Teela and her gf as the main chars.

Why? The Revelation designs are fine and far from a radical divergence.
>>
>>9464745
This.
>>
>>9464765
They're the most sterilized and lifeless designs the characters have had. Skeletor having a colorless skull and washed-out skin and armor tones do him such a disservice. The toy having empty black eye sockets makes the Nendo look more like a Funko Pop that they do by default, which pushes it over the line.
>>
>>9464769
>Skeletor having a colorless skull
It's not bright yellow but it isn't colorless. The 200X design is more muted.
>washed-out skin and armor tones
I wish there was stronger contrast between the armor and skin colors, so if that's what you're saying I agree.
>empty black eye sockets
Fair enough, but that's not new for Skeletor either. In 2002 pupils mostly appeared for expression, and Filmation is Filmation.

The Revelation design is pretty conservative overall.

I took it as meaning that the the Power of Grayskull can be freely granted by the holder of the sword, but must also be freely given up by the empowered.

>everyone forgives her because someone was mean to her once
Nobody says or even implies this. The closest is Beast Man and Teela saying "This isn't who you are" - no character attempts to qualify her actions after she takes the sword.
Her ending felt more like the setting up of a 'repentance quest' for S2 to me. She's not shown happily celebrating with anyone, just walking off alone, leaving behind the wand. She'll probably have to deal with being the most hated person in Eternia moving forwards (even more than Skeletor or perhaps second only to).

Thread Qs, my thoughts:
- Hopefully I can snag an Orko from the upcoming 2-pack. Since near 100% the two "mystery figures" in wave 4(?) are Sorceress of Zoar Teela and Sorceress of Horokoth Evil-Lyn (which is why they were hidden, because spoilers), I'm not holding my breath for a Masterverse Oracle or pre-cataclysm Orko (as he'd probably have to be a pack-in with another figure again). Would like a Nendo Oracle, fat fucking chance on that, though.
- I want the answer to one question: WTF is Evil-Lyn doing on Trolla?
- Yeah, but my chances are nil, since they're all collection white whales.

I enjoy reading constructive comments from people who both liked and disliked a piece of media I've just seen; it's an interesting part of the experience for me and can often modulate my own thoughts on aspects of it both positively and negatively.
Posts like this, however, are a pox on any franchise.

Get rid of Kevin Smith, offer his job to J. Michael Straczynski, pick up with the Horde tease, include Adora.
I'd also like to know why Evil-Lyn went to Trolla.
>>

>>
>>9465028
Just snagged a Mosquitor and a Webstor, but I'm not sure if any of wave 7 is grabbing me. I've only been picking up the figures that really give me a certain nebulous feeling of 'personality'. Wasn't sure about Buzz-Off, but in reviews he's maybe got that with the goggles off. Sorceress is a cutie, but feels like not a lot of figure for the princely sum 18 of the Queen's dollars my local store is demanding for this wave.
>>
I like muscular Evil Lyn. I can’t want for the fanfics where she rapes Prince Adam. I hope we get a figure of both them.
>>
>>9464936
He-Man is directly addressing Skeletor's obsession with them being in this fated battle together and He-Man is basically saying he doesn't give a shit about that. Kevin Smith wasn't the writer for episode 10 so idk what to tell you. Even if you wanted to call it a wink and a nod, I'd agree, MOTU is a lot more than just their conflict and to say it is basically ignores all the other factions and all the other characters.

>>
>>9465050
I'm going to be dead honest and say yeah, some of them dont grab me, so i dont grab them. I'm not as much of a completionist as I may have let on. I skipped Orko because he just felt...mismatched? Like I get that he is a beloved character, but his origins figure just wasnt doing it for me. I saw the single carded Sorceress at both Targets I visited, but I already have Greyskull, so i skipped her for the same reason as you. I didnt even jump on the BA versions till they ended up at Wal-Mart.

The aforementioned price hike will also be a factor going forward.

I know what you're gonna say, "but Filmation colors", and I'm sure she has appeal for those of you that care about that, but for me one Sorceress is as good as another and I personally don't find much appeal to single carded Sorceress. >>9465059
As lazy response as expected but, no, lmao; the show still didn't feel like it knew what tone it was going for, leading to a schizophrenic feel between or even within scenes, and stuff like the sex scene felt as unnecessary as Teela's sidecut. There was way more that I enjoyed than disliked, though, even if it failed to reach the (unexpected, afaic) heights of the CGI show. Beyond the plot, I feel like Revelations might be the best MOTU has looked outside of the work of Obrero, George, Norem or Taylor.
>>9465073
Yeah man, the worst thing in any line is feeling the 'need' to be a completionist. Collecting a complete line is absolute joy for some, but can start feeling like work and a source of anxiety for others. We've gotta collect at the level that feels comfortable to the individual - I've been guilty of getting burnt out on lines I was happily collecting most of due to suddenly feeling the need to grab everything else for the sake of it because I was already 'so close'.

>>
>>9465184
Tripfags like you make this board insufferable
>>
>>9465188
I wouldn't say one is better than the other, but I'd put 200x, Nu-Ra, Revelation, and CGI on a similar level of coherent storytelling, but that's just storytelling becoming a bigger focus, so I wouldn't talk down the old shows necessarily, though there were some shows in the 80s that had some pretty captivating storytelling. OG and She-Ra can be on the next level. I can't really judge NA since I haven't seen it in full, but from what I've seen (I think 6 or 7 episodes) it'd be last. Would take way too long to justify what I said, but if I look at these with an objective and unbiased view, and also one that isn't of a tv show critic cause hell if I know how they judge things, I'd say the above.
>>
>>9464553
I like some of the Revelations designs, so I'd probably buy more toys based on them. I haven't seen the show though. Sounds like its not what people expected. I'll just stick to the filmation shows and comics for now.
>>9465028
Did you see any new Minis by chance?
>>
>>9465208
It isn't a sequel, just kind of inspired by the events that unfolded in Filmation. Skeletor seemed smart, but also naive. His fighting IQ was high though, his fights were pretty impressive. Though as some others have pointed out, he should have just continuously thrown out his Skelcon mist. No one would have been able to even get close to him. Hm.... could have been an excuse for Sy-klone to show up...
>>
>>9465021
I might pick up Skeletor then and see how I feel, since they're using the same buck for Viking He-Man and Barbarian Skeletor too. But for something that's clearly trying to be the DC Multiverse/Marvel Legends/etc. of MOTU they don't impress me.

Origins has a bunch of issues even taking into consideration its more modest ambitions, but it's also carved a niche and has made some savvy decisions that endear me more to it.
>>
>>9465214
>but that's just storytelling becoming a bigger focus
Yeah, for sure - even the 2003 cartoon is somewhat of a midpoint in that shifting approach. My point was that perhaps part of why the new show received a lot of praise here is that it was more on a level with the more well-regarded entries in the franchise than we (or at least I) expected from initial leaks. The total lack of promo hype and/or anything to live up to will likely have helped, too.

By congratulating who ever comes out ontop.
>>
>>9465240
For sure. The only expectation was "He-Man", and in that it reminds me a lot of franchises like Transformers where new iterations of shows are often completely brand new. It even further reminds me of Animated, because people got so up in arms about how different it was, but once it aired it turned out to be a good show. For most anyways.

I am a bit surprised at how willing some seem to be to accept these changes though, especially when a haircut for Teela in Revelation threw so many into a rage, compared to a new Teela not remotely like the original in the CGI show. I don't mind new interpretations like that (probably why I just took Revelation Teela for what she was and wasn't expecting her to be anything but that), but I am surprised it seems like the majority were so open to it as well.
>>
>>9464839
Revelations is little more than Nu-ra done up in a castlevania esc "we really care about this franchise" paint job.
>>
>>9465239
I think, for me, the Masterverse figs have a physical presence that works for their height and more 'realistic' styling. They mix comparatively leaner (but still massively muscled in real terms) arms with an extremely powerful-looking core, making them evoke the actual world's strongest men when I look at them.
I can't speak for how the articulation compares to the other lines you mention as I don't own any, but I've found the Masterverse figs to be extremely expressive at least.
>>
>>9464602
Not to be that guy, but mattel is pretty pozzed. Go visit the barbie aisle of your local retailer to see what I mean, or hell, just check out their social media. Anyways, for as rotten as revelations turned out, atleast we got mcx and origins out of this awful brand "revival".
>>
>>9464988
Unless Teela brought preternia back and all the lost souls when she made everything right again, Evil Lyn standing with the group looking up with a shit eating grin made no sense.
>>
>>9465255
Ah, fuck, Animated was a great show - need to rewatch some time (great toys, too).
Yeah, I think that's a key difference between the two Teelas - they were both new takes, but one was purported to be the 'same' Teela from Filmation.
I personally felt the same as you going into Revelation, but I can get why other anons were like "This ain't my Teela" when the hype train was insisting that she was.
>>

I think it's been great. I've enjoyed both the media and all the form factors of products to varying degrees. I'd say it's been pretty good so far.

Their relationship is incredibly abusive, which is also why Evil-Lyn acted the way she did after she got the power. She's used to lies and manipulation (like Skeletor 'feeding' off of her while in her wand and skewing her actions, like grabbing the havoc staff's head before heading down to subternia), so it probably seems normal for her to do this in kind to Skeletor.

I doubt we'll get her end of series getup, but fair chance to the other 2. For Duncan I'd want his regular Revelation look over the classic. Aside from Orko I can't think of any dramatic changes in clothes. Also I want an Adam... Not sure why we haven't even got a hint of one when he's such a focal point especially in part 2, and it's stressed that it's Adam who's He-Man.

Advertising probably played a large part when looking between Revelations and CGI. To me Revelations suffered from too much "creator advertising" as I would call it where a company or creator lets slip too many personal details behind a project, decreasing the intrigue and mystery for said project to simply stand on its own and be judged accordingly. Insignificant details like "We made all the women bulkier because X" are ultimately irrelevant because it has no bearing on the plot/writing/characters yet gets pushed as if it's actually something important to discuss. Same goes for anyone who tries to advertise LGTBQ+ or skin color as some sort of selling and brownie point when nobody in their right mind gives any iota of fucks about that person's sexuality or race

As far as I could see there wasn't really much advertising, creator or otherwise for CGI so that plays into less "baggage" when stepping into watching it. That along with the radically different interpretations of the characters and concepts made it much easier to swallow and ultimately accept. The humor can be a bit childish here and there but ultimately I think it knew to have fun when poking fun at itself and other franchise aspects.

They'll make an Adam sooner or later. I'd say, assuming Revelation gets picked up for a second season with its sequel bait, more Revelation figures are even more guaranteed than they were already. I imagine they'll get more sparse as New Eternia gets thrown in, but they have a lot of material left to mine even without introducing the Horde or Snake Men. Whether we'll actually get more Revelation is anybody's guess.
>>
>>9465564
Evil-Lyn is showing too much skin to be Nu-Ra, and Teela got to fulfill her Sorceress destiny (finally) and also keep her warrior heritage. I liked it.
>>
>>9465573
We didn't get the immediate renewal like some shows do, but hopefully it can skirt on by. Kevin Smith seems to think a S2 will only get greenlit if it hits the numbers of Part 1, which I don't know if it is. Doesn't seem to be as much noise. I think it should be pretty clear to Netflix that splitting up the season was not the way to go.

>It was just so bad. And it'd only get worse.
I'm morbidly curious how you think they'd make a season revolving around Hordak, Mantenna, Grizzlor, Leech, Modulok and Mosquitor invading Eternia worse.
>>
>>9465655
I thought they couldn't screw up a story of Skeletor finally getting the power, but hey, here we are.

>>9465655

No She-ra due to rights.
Teela vs Shadow Weaver.

Hordak barely does anything and 2 seconds of Mosquitor voiced by Pixel Dan and his only line is "Succ!".
>>
>>9465655
She-ra arrives and is the central figure the plot and its resolution hinges on, He-man continued to be relegated to supporting role
The further immasculation of Skeletor being made a bitch for Hordak, who in turn will end up becoming a bitch to Mother Board
Mantenna, Grizzlor, Leech and Modulok relegated to minor nonspeaking cameos the same way they did all those guys from episode 9.

You're a fool if you think Hordak will automatically equal quality

>>9465679
>I only want He-Man and Skeletor!!!!
Christ, what are you? The guy who orders the stock at my Target?
>>
>>9465637
The biggest problems are Teela and cramming too much into ten episodes. A second season might shit the bed some other way, but there's no reason to think it'd replicate either of those issues, especially since too much shit in too little time is a widespread complaint. Unlike, say, 200X which probably wouldn't have gotten much better with a third season, I think Revelation easily could with a second. But they fucked themselves by putting so much stock in a cliffhanger for four months and I'm not sure a renewal is all that likely now.
>>
>>9465680
>>9465683
We've literally just seen the results of what happens when they are not treated as the central figures in their own show.
Stop defending shit.
>>
Not crazy about some of the choices they made -- Evil-Lyn coming onto Skeletor, the "take my point" dick pun, the "killing everyone in Heaven" thing, also Skelegod's armor is really lame. But at least Clownfish TV and their retarded band ragecucks get it on the chin for being wrong about the arc of the show -- and wasting months of time sperging out over nothing.

200X is still the best. It's got everything you could want. Kino aesthetic, more serious AND more lighthearted but always in the right places, more time spent exploring the other characters' origins and homeworlds (yes, 200X did that before Kevin Smith), and some great arcs about the origin story, the Horde, and the Snake Men. The toys were also excellent.

You wouldn't have to subscribe or pay a fee, whatever subscription they have in mind for MOTU isn't yet in effect (though when it is, I think you'll get early access to some separately allocated early stock, as well as I think a bonus exclusive or something). Mattel Creations for MOTU at this point is basically just a storefront, sign up, put in your details, and you're ready to order. They'll put things up for sale, and you'll have to be there to buy said stock. That's all. At no point will you be guaranteed any day-of-sale items, even when the subscription becomes a thing.
>>
>>9465707
Not him, and I don't have that one, but the same company's city street one. They theoretically fold away easily, but they're made of a stiff cardboard that at first wants to fight you going from being folded up flat for packaging purposes to being set up, so I assume it's similar in the opposite direction until it's been broken in, but then I think it would be difficult to keep it standing again.

I don't get why they chose he-man to make a big womens empowerment thing out of when the obvious choice is to make it insanely gay. How do you make a big dumb subversion thing out of the gayest cartoon around and you choose to make it about womens feelings and not beastman aids?
>>
>>9465756
Maybe Netlix presented them with only two options: Gay or Women, and they chose the latter. Either that or Kevin Smith's just a hack who ripped off the Death and Return of Superman and cucked it all up with his women empowerment simping shit he always does. I was for whatever reason thinking about how he does it in many of his movies, such as Chasing Amy, or even making the descendant of Christ an atheist female abortion doctor.
>>
>>9465690
I found it really shit how Evil-Lyn gets a redemption in the show, after she took part in helping Skeletor kill He-Man and Mossman in the first place. And the former of which turned out to be the King's own son, and she also tried to overthrow an entire government and by every right should have been executed for treason and crimes against humanity, but LOL someone was mean to her once and she has a vagina so it's ok.

It's like, what if Jeffrey Dahmer regrets eating all those people? I guess he just gets redeemed right?
https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2006/september/34.125.html

>This book tells the disturbing yet redemptive story of how, by God's grace, an atheist, pedophile, and mass murderer repented and believed in Jesus Christ. Roy Ratcliff—the erstwhile preacher-turned-prison-minister who baptized Jeffrey Dahmer—discovered through him this deep sense of grace that flies in the face of our compunction to condemn, voiced by one college professor who said, "If Dahmer's in heaven, I don't want to be there."

>Ratcliff says he became convinced of Dahmer's sincerity during seven months of prison visits. "I feel very, very bad about the crimes I've committed," Dahmer told Ratcliff. "In fact, I think I should have been put to death by the state for what I did." A fellow inmate killed Dahmer in 1994.

>Ratcliff called Dahmer by his first name, Jeff. "He became a real person to me, so I referred to him the same way I would anyone I knew personally," Ratcliff said. "He was ready to die. I was the one who was unprepared."

I guess what I'm saying is, from a plot point and in context, it's retarded.

That part 2 recap show also seemed like it was filmed at the same time as the part 1 recap show. I didn't bother checking if they were wearing the same clothes, but I'm pretty sure Lena was in the exact same spot for her interview segments, and she was shown the wave 1 Evil-Lyn figure as if it was new.

Definitely lots of examples of movie reshoots, like Whedon's cut of JL. Maybe there are, and they'd probably come with delays, but I don't know of any animation reshoots.

>Why do we (and apparently Kevin Smith) care about these people and their clickbait videos?
I have no idea why their video in particular got traction. I also don't know how their account has so many subs. Either way, they were one of the first to post a video. Smith really should have just ignored it, but instead he responded which caused the "KEVIN LIED" even though he was more just beating around the bush because he didn't want to give anything away. Worthwhile lesson to just ignore those kinds of comments, it isn't worth the hassle and people like that will just twist words, their own or those of others, until it fits what they want to say.

I realized in reading through the thread how pointless it will ultimately be to discuss revelations. Like with everything else in modern society nowadays, your opinion on some ultimately forgettable product will come to color people's idea of you no matter what. So instead of taking that route, I rather ask this. /MOTU/, what is your ideal iteration of MOTU? For me, I'll always fall in the no-man's land between the mini-comics and filmation. This is pretty much why I hold 200X and the Freddie Williams comics in such high regard. Both works present Eternia with a perfect balance of cheesy charm and serious appreciation that is rarely seen in other iterations. Every other show/comic either skews too goofy or too serious for my tastes. i guess I ultimately just want a kind of "evergreen" iteration of the franchise. A He-man for all seasons in a sense.

Oh, sorry Anon, i didnt look. My heart literary skipped a beat seeing Mosquitor and I quickly fled the scene with my stuff in excitement. What is the new lineup anyways? I do like the Minis (especially that the acessories work well with Spinmasters 1/18th Batman line).

Like fuck the whole mask mandate, but it definitely helps cover my face when I make goofy smiles when I find something cool. Im pretty sure the staff at the Target by my workplace just know who i am and are glad I put stuff back on the pegs and keep the aisle as neat as i find them, along with not asking them to check in the back. >Filmation Timeline
This card was drawn up while it was still largely considered a direct sequel; to change its wording on the fly would be a tad disingenuous. Also, I weigh Ted Biaselli's words that it was meant to be such save for three (more than three, imo) changes. They killed off/scrubbed out the remaining Filmation canon immigrants (the Sorceress, Orko - to a degree - and the entire Trollan race). I count it as such. I'm not saying everyone should, of course, as such things are subjective, and wholly based on one's pov.
>straight to gay
Mea culpa, I slapped the final chips on a previous draft. Amended.
>flashback episode
Perhaps not a full one, stem-to-stern, but the number of flashbacks in the first half make this one stick for me.
>Clownfish
It's a tricky one. Their source (for the first half, at least) was more right than not, though CF probably misinterpreted and embellished plenty for outrage clicks. They certainly didn't issue any apologies for whatever they got wrong.

>>
>>9466265
Another thing with Clownfish is their leaks occurred when part two was still in production which could have lead to changes in it but they be small ones if any, like the bit at the very end. We do know the VA was called in for part two at a later time after part one so there is some merit to argue for it. But I think it should be very stressed how little they be able to change up in such a k short time

Yeah, i do, and I think it's both a leftover quirk from my time at Wal-mart and just a general nice thing to do.

Now that I think about it, yeah, i do think they had a whole peg of the Revelations ones (Skeletor, Whiplash). I think this was their big Black Friday restock where they filled all the pegs (except for Star Wars, which is rarely stocked). The only thing missing from the current lineup (and i mean new stuff, so no Greyskull) was the Wind Raider and Wave 2 of Masterverse, but based on shelf space there really isnt anywhere to put them. Can't wait for all that Space Jam and Ghostbusters stuff to be removed.

This post is getting long, but I want to add one more thing. When I post my haul, I'm not doing it to rub in that I have something or to brag. Im sorry if that's how it comes off, but I post the haul because I want to show off that Brick and Mortar retail is still viable, and that if you miss something online that IRL stock is showing up. I want to be a bro and say "X is now available in stores" or "X has landed on the east coast" because I do enjoy these Generals.

Minicomics, but more fleshed out and with some references from Filmation and CGI.
Have He-Man be a barbarian warrior who comes from the Tiger Tribe, Man-At-Arms is a scavenger of ancient technology, Teela is the clone/daughter of the Sorceress and destined to one day become the Sorceress herself, Skeletor is a conqueror from a parallel world of all skeleton people who recruits native villains to serve his cause, eventually have the Horde show up as a band of intergalactic raiders.
It would be kino.

One thing I feel like every iteration of MotU had just ignored is Castle Grayskull's technological aspect.
Like, the toy has computers, a space suit, laser turrets, but cartoons and comics mainly just make it vaguely defined "magic". I've always kind of liked the idea that the secrets are actually just sci fi weapons and space travel technology which is beyond the general understanding of Eternias more primitive inhabitants. The rejection you have to revelation was there for 200x too, that show also retconned a ton of shit on the franchise and people hated the changes, but then accepted them with time, well I'm sure there are some hardcore autists out there still hating Keldor, King Greyskul and Lyn being daughter of Scareglow.

Do you think kids who like the cgi series would ever countenance toys like masterverse or Origins or classics?
>>
>>9467210
Yeah, I've seen it with transformers, fans introduced with the bay movies and animated show (way cartoony art style than the 80s show) have moved to the main line that keeps doing classic designs.
>>
There's a variation for CGI Orko apparently with a winking eye.
>>
>>9467264
He shall be known as Flirty Orko
>>
>>9467203
Keldor does suck, to be fair.
>>
>>9467264
Wait, there's a variant that doesn't? All of those that I've seen thus far (ol/rl) have had the wink.
>>
Why do the villains in kids shows always have to be incompetent boobs?

Yeah, a combination of the fun I had building it, the inclusion of the OG 'faction swap' gimmick and the price meant I was ordering another before I knew it.
>did you made a RoadRipper of it?
No, but that is a sweet build, brother - did you OC that? Love how you've implemented some of the pieces. Might just have to have my own attempt at copying it when I next have a day off.
Are you the anon who was having fun with MCX, TFs and Siege effects parts here recently?
>>
>>9467200
I guess if you were expecting them to be like their Filmation counterparts. If you just take them as their own characters, then that's just who they are, just like in the CGI show, and in 200x, and in comics and in the Minicomics.

Though, at least for some of the heroes,I feel like they got the character traits pretty well compared to Filmation, just turned up a few notches. Teela was extra headstrong and stubborn, Adam was still extremely heroic in his actions, Duncan was a father figure and inventor and man of action, Orko with his good intentions but inability to do right (until his shining moments, anyways). The villains felt a bit more different in their portrayals, like Evil-Lyn was the one to call Skeletor a boob rather than him to his henchmen, and obviously the verbal and physical abuse being portrayed much more aggressively here.

>>

Beast Man from Filmation was a pretty non-character from what I remember, just a punching bag for Skeletor's verbal jabs. He did occasionally do his beast master shtick. They chose to make him the noble beast (noble simp more like it) which is weird, considering he's a villain. The other option is the savage monster, 'whipped' by Skeletor because he's the Alpha. I assume if there's another season they'll explore him and his motivations more. As is, he came out of nowhere, then basically became Lyn's simp for no explained reason, then after "becoming a beast" for Lyn, was thrown off CG's bridge and was never seen again.

>Nice; that would be sick. Was Castle Grayskull as fun a build as it looks?
Definitely yes. The way the front half of the build implements all the vintage play features plus the Classics orb room and secret door on the ledge is really satisfying. The other half of the clamshell is also fun but less so.

I think the point is, if all MOTU will be in the future is figs like those CGI figs, I have no interest. Bringing in new blood only has value to me if it fuels my interests.
>>
>>9467345
>assume if there's another season they'll explore him and his motivations more

I doubt it. I think he's dead. Yeah, you can argue "no body, no kill", but the pit around grayskull is supposed to be either deep or bottomless, so I don't see him coming back
>>
>>9467346
The thing is that TMNT, My Little Pony, and Transformers all have major reworkings across the decades.

While the lore was all over the place due to toy/comic/animated canons, MOTU has been pretty much mostly the same thing up until recently.

I would hope kids would like the older stuff, even if they don't favor it over their first series. I does feel like a bit bigger stretch to go from CGI > 1980s show, than Bayformers > Animated > Beast Wars > 80s.

I keep hearing that some large amount of girls bought MotU toys in the 80s, prompting She-Ra. Is any of that true? Any sources? I find it hard to believe, but maybe I'm just ignorant. Here's the data I could find relevant to that:

Two mid-80s Mattel executives give contradictory recollections of a customer survey reporting what percent of MotU toys were bought for girls.
Lou Scheimer, December 1984: 30% of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe viewers were girls.
Roger Sweet (book and "The Toys That Made Us" episode): MotU sales in 1985 were $250 million. She-Ra toy sales were $58.2 million that year (The She-Ra Collector's Inventory, 2006). Assuming a 1:1 correlation between She-Ra and female MotU fans, that would support a number of 23%.
>>
>>9468745
What could be the reasoning behind girls liking motu anyway? Was it just because it starred a big hunky muscular man?
>>
>>9468764
Women aren't attracted to that kind of body
I suspect it's because they were fun toys
>>
Just opened up Masterverse Spikor, my first figure with this more regular body (previously the non He-Man and Skeletor from wave 1) and I like him a lot. I'm not sure if I just lucked out but all the joints are perfect on him and he moves fantastically. Damn though, his gripping hands are tight as shit, gonna just warm them up to get that mace in there.

It is, but I'd like TC Skeletor a lot more if the dragon was part of continuity with Dragon Blaster Skeletor. Like make the armor the same sculpt in metallic purple and have the clamp mount on his backplate with its head looking over his showwnx4ulder.

I think it's in part the small minority of people who whined about MUH EXCLUSIVE after Mer-Man came out with very few changes. I recall some toy YouTube cuck whining about it pretty hard. I have the LoP Powercon set and my girlfriend loved that Mer-Man so I was fucking stoked when they put him out at retail. The decision to make Beast Man red was kinda goofy, like sure those were concept colors, but I don't think anyone prefers red.

I've found that being patient is the key with this line, and I see the LOP boxset as a good example of a prelude to this. Between waves not showing up earlier in the year and FOMO I was very tempted to pay that scalper premium for a few things, especially almost dropping $50 on Mosquitor. But with patients and persistent (and a retail job/too much time), you can own all the non-online exclusive stuff.

Im probably very wrong about this, and i dont disparage others for buying it, but dropping $400 on the LOP boxset with the hindsight that LOP variants can and will be made for mass retail feels to me like paying the scalper price to assure you get something ASAP, versus hunting it down for a retail price and maybe not finding it.

Also, I do like the red paint over the orange. Makes it feel like a different character.
