Couldn’t decide if I wanted to make a diorama of Articuno on Seafoam Islands, or Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave, I put it to a vote and Seafoam came on top. (Works out as I already have ice effects/fake snow/resin for water/etc) Wish me luck, lads. I will post pics when it’s done

one day, i'd like to see the collective willpower of us ignoring someone
>>
>>9464423
The Jazwares account said Rayquaza should be out "early next year" so hopefully pics will surface by Jan/Feb. I hope they add Ray to the Wave 2 lineup and it's a 4 figure wave if they keep with the 3 figures per wave. (Even then, one of those 4 rumored Wave 2 figs - Zapdos, Tyranitar, Lucario, Blaziken - would get bumped) I don't want them to release Ray and two others. This line can't be that slow to get us figures :(
>>
>>9464551
Yea when we first saw the 4 on the back of the box and zard was a sort of early release, thought we'd get those 4 by the end of the year at least. At this rate we might not even have all the rumoured figs by the end of next year.
>>
>>9464603
That's what I'm afraid of too. Even if they did a 4 figure wave every three months, that's still not many per year at all. At 3 per wave, it'll take us forever to get some highly needed mons.
>>
Wow! Figma Selene finally sold out on the US Pokemon Center site! Only took what, 3 years? Hopefully they put up Marnie, Raihan, and Gloria soon.
>>
>>9464708
Sucks to be the guy who probably waited to get it, not that it was that good.
>>
>>9464708
Well people had over 3 years to get it at MSRP so there shouldn't be any excuse for missing it. I hope they announce a new Figma for Legends Arceus. I'd love a Dawn in that look.
>>

go for it, I'm not brave enough to unseal my Tomy Greninja and add the joints. I had a second loose one I could have done it to, but I think I gave it to one of my students before lockdown last year
>>
>>9462731
So how well does Select Articuno stand on its feet? Can its be folded in at all?
>>
>>9464776
I agree! If one of those has to get bumped, I hope it's Lucario and they used the time to scale it properly (ha! wishful thinking but I'm sure it'll be taller than Charizard). Or if Lucario is going to be comically oversized no matter what, bump Blaziken since the Torchic from the Clip n Go wave got bumped too.
>>
>>9462731
Oh wow that’s my pic! Thanks anon
>>
>>9464729

I'd prefer someone from DP/BDSP cause it'd be the classic look. Idk how I feel about the Legends designs yet. Now watch it randomly be Volkner and not Dawn or Cynthia.

I bet they'll lead with a female if they do any BDSP/Legends related Figma.

I was really hoping they were doing "old gen, new gen, old gen etc"
But they didn't go back to old gen....

Gold and Rosa are my top wants, but wouldn't say no to other protags.
>>
>>9466212
I wouldn't rule it out but I'd say a character's odds go up if they're related to a recent game or they're in the anime. May hasn't appeared in anything in a while and would be a fairly odd pick. If I had to bet I'd say the next one would be one of either Dawn or Cynthia.

>>9466702
Yea it seems like they're just matching releases with recent games. Might have to wait for some sort of remakes for them to loop back to older characters.
>>

Decided to get Marnie from amiami since she is in stock, I haven't played the game but she's cute and Red needs a friend.

Nice group. Vaporeon and Venonat are very undersized but it's a nice collection. I have the bank Snorlax too and I like it more than the Tomy one due to its size.
>>
>>9467664
I usually prefer the figures with more joints too but for Snorlax is seems kinda pointless. Aside from making him stand or sit, what other poses would he be worth putting in? The articulated head on the Tomy is nice though.

I think it's one of those new character from those 2 anime films that had ash with a completely different cast of friends.
I've never watched them but I hear the 2nd film was good.
>>
>>9469000
Moncolle Morepko and Hangry Morpeko were repaints of each other which annoyed me. They're pretty large. A bit larger than the Jazwares ones so I think the Jazwares one is a better fit scale wise and also has a cuter pose.

I'm a scalefag and I like customizing figures. Is there any relatively 1/12th scale Pokemon Plamo sets I should pick up? I've only picked up the Dragonite set a few years ago and hate how tiny it is especially when Jazwares has gotten better with their variety of types in the 1/12 scale.
I know Gengar and Greninja are relatively within scale but I already have their respective Tomy/Jazwares figures, but I am curious if there's any more plamo sets that would work.

>>
>>9471964

>>
>>9472221
Import. Buying a case of 10 is cheaper than buying a set of the 5 on the secondary market. Then you can sell your extras to recoup most if not all of the costs.

>>9472208
Yep, I think Gardevoir is due next month and Cinderace is around March
>>
>>9472197
Thanks, I'll definitely keep an eye out for them.
Is pic related passable in scale? I'm only tempted if it looks okay in a group shot with my collection but if not i'll pass
>>
>>9472296
I never bought it but I remember seeing pics and it looked around 5" tall. So too tall for a super strict 1/12 collection bu maybe you aren't that picky. The best articulated one is still the VAH figure. It's about 4" tall. One anon posted a pic of that next to the Select Charizard in the last thread

Hell yes. I've been asking anons about this since last year and I'm glad some are starting to look at other figma's as NPCs.

I have the Swimmer figure for water types, the kimono girl as an Erica grass type, and the pop singer would be fun to pick up sometime. She has a tsundere vibe. I like that her purple outfit matches ghost type colour palettes and her grin matches Gengar's.

I also preordered this regular Nadeshiko. Her outfit is really cute and she has a hiker and rock trainer feel to her, as well as an ice type. I have this 1/10 Onix and I plan to build a small Pewter city gym diorama for them, with little rocks and a sandy coloured base. I'd like to get that puffer jacket Rin for ice types too, but EU customs makes it quite expensive now to order them.

I just assembled mine tonight. The first wave where I’ve had bad QC and breakage during assembly. I don’t know who thought the assembly for Glaceon’s bangs was a good idea but those pieces snapped for me. So did my Arceus neck peg.

All assembled, Alakazam is the clear winner here, with a weak wave otherwise. Arceus is also impressive but will only work in displays with Lugia, etc. In my opinion, the weakest wave of Shodo so far, but some good tech being displayed.

Hopefully this isn't the last wave. Haven't they normally announced subsequent waves before the most recent one has been released?

Does anyone here have those Re-ment pokemon diorama things?

I'm looking for a Pichu that's about 1/12, but I think they might be too tiny.
I'm in the EU and can't find that battle figure set with Komala here anymore.

Others alts I can find here are Odoro (Dancing?) and some Eggs, that are listed as 3~4cm. I think that size might work with the WCT and MonColle Pkachus I have.

i got my Marnie in the other day and also bought one of those Pokemon Select Charizard's
>>

Blue/Green, Giovanni and Lance for males. On average how many Pokémon figma have we gotten each year like 1-2? There's always new games taking priority (Marnie, Raihan) so someone like N or Blue while realistic still feel like it'll take forever to get to.
>>
>>9477498
Not even that many. There's only been 6 released since 2018. Red in 2017, Mizuki and Lillie in 2018, then Gloria, Raihan, and Marnie in 2021.
>>
>>9473555
What shipping method did you use?

>>9475417
SAL was closed worldwide by September 2020 and EMS would be insured. Even when the coof just started, most of the time you couldn't pick the shipping option that isn't accepted in your country.
>>
>>9477494
Mine should arrive tomorrow, but gonna postpone displaying as I'm waiting for another fig, and where I have the pokemon figma is all the way in the back.
Got the Select Charizard as well last week, little disappointed with the quality of it though. But that's probably because I'm so used to figma/figuarts and WCT was always a quality roulette.
I had to use a voucher to get it down to the normal price the US has.

Damn thats the first one I've seen with a paint defect. The paint on 99% of them were perfect. Since it's in stock on Amazon and Target still, it should be an easy return/replacement
>>
>>9478259
No, This is going to be a huge problem on Articuno Select, mine's got it's beak scratched during my most basic handling. It did repaint it though in a colder tone of gray. Yet, eyes are also a big concern as those aren't any easy to repaint without a proper decal or tampo.

I think it can be explained with relative logic, if you took notice, The body and the head are from a near soft plastic; this kind of plastic doesn't preserve paint on surface, also it's going to get sticky very fast as time goes by.

The white belly-bearded part is hard plastic, so it might last longer, but the general tone of the figure might torn towards a yellower base, also excluding the wings.

I can only recommend that you take a picture (save it as back--up) of the right eye and print a mirroed copy in decal paper, for the size and small curve of the head it shouldn't be too noticeable the replacement, also I recommend you to buy a copy of Articuno so you can live knowing you still have an original one (calling of my autism).

I think your fears of yellowing plastic and all that shit are a bit over exaggerated. The figure is abs and pvc like just about every other figure. There's no reason it will hold up any less than other figures. The head on my Articuno is not a super soft pvc so I don't see the paint adhering to that being an issue.

i got one pretty cute, kind of undersized for with figma but i pretend he just evolved or is like XS sized from lets go. either way, i like making him, stand, sit, stand more aggresive or even run. (cmon chase that meal)

if you dont mind it being somewhat smaller its nice.
also it has a soft belly.

so im back from being distracted. finaly got myself the articuno here in europe, its huge and i like it a lot. id only change the neckjoint otherwise super satisfied.

im very happy with both 6"i found sofar, but thinking of skipping greninja.
did rayquaza get an estemated month yet? or the next 2 waves gotten an idea when to expect these yet?

I have the same feelings about Articuno. They should have done the neck joint differently but that's the biggest flaw with the figure. No news on Rayquaza other than being told "early 2021". No news on other waves or if every figure will be released on its own a couple weeks apart like this past three figures.

>>
>>9462731
I think the plastic pokemon figurines are terrible, although I do like the plush ones.

The plastic figures are not based on some kind of table top war game or whatever so there's not really a size standardization - not that you really could since some pokemon are much bigger than others and the size of the printers would have to be the same so either you're printing tiny things wasting time/production capacity or you're printing a giant one wasting resources in comparison to the other models and then you'd have to what? sell by weight, even though the majority of your costs would be based on design time where size wouldn't matter that much.

I mean what do I do with this? I put it on shelves? what if my shelves break or something happens to them? digitally I can put my pokemon i pokemon home and they can have different stats etc. these don't have different stast. I can't really trade or do anything with them. They become a ball and chain.

i hate games that are work without learning and ball and chain without growing value.

physically seeing the pokemon is nice but in this day and age I don't understand why you can't just have a service where you pick the size/dimensions of each piece and choose from a variety of poses that the pokemon company or whomever can make and then say "I want you to print Bulbasaur 14 at size x and I also want Snoralx 5 and Lugia 8 all at size x"

I mean why the hell not? we have 3d printers now these things are like $959215 a piece or some obscene amount that is way more than printing costs... if they actually designed their multi million dollar printing facotires to be more like this they could easily do it.

whatever

The HOME app is pretty useful for getting a rough visual of how big something should be. The human in the comparison is about 4'11" since he's the same height as Machoke. Pulled up the entries for a bunch of pokes with figures.
>>
>>9485566
You clearly don't know how mass produced items are manufactured. Nothing remotely similar to toys or action figures is mass produced by 3d printing. It's way too costly for what he consumer would expect to pay and the quality wouldn't be the same as an injection molded plastic figure like you're used to buying at the store. What Jazwares (and many other companies) do by offering different sized figures at different price points is the best they're able to do with the price constraints they abide by if they want to have a presence at retail.
>>
>>9485380
I've been tempted for awhile to get my 6 favourites for awhile but I dont have a good place for plushies aside from my bed which I'm reluctant to do.
>>
>>9485566
LOL! Would you want to pay $50 for a 2" tall Bulbasaur that was 3D printed and hand painted but still doesn't have the same smooth finish as a plastic figure, or a 2" Jazwares Bulbasaur figure for $3. Pretty obvious why toys are made the way they are.

Judging how the Hoenn ones look next to that packaged Pikachu, they are scaled correctly. The Kanto starters are a little small for 1/12 scale so your argument should be that those should be larger. These Hoenn ones look perfect.
>>
>>9487508
>>9487555
For 1/12 scale, 1" in figure height equals 12" for character height. Dex lists Treecko at 1'8", so a perfectly 1/12 scaled one would be 1.8" tall. These Hoenn figures look to be scaled perfectly.
>>
>>9487614
>>9487618

the jazwares figures are not 1/12 tho, they wont scale with the 3" figures and most of the 2" line, hence they are not in scale
>>
>>9487377
Hoenn lads AND Snom? Wotta bargain.
>>
>>9487677
still a better scale than fail world. except for the battle action line

>Frosmoth
One can dream. I've wanted one ever since we got the bandai kids Snom a few waves ago. Frosmoth is one of those few mons that would look pretty neat as a kids figure, but a Scale World or a Jazzwares would be great as long as they don't ruin it with some lame play feature.
>>
>>9487677
Then what scale are they TRYING to make their figures in? Pretty sure everyone accepts they're doing an attempt at a vague 1/12 scale.
>>
>>9487677
If they weren’t trying to go for 1/12 we’d probably have a 4.5 inch pikachu by now
>>
>>9488240
I agree, it's pretty clear to me too that they were always aiming for 1:12 scaling. Their Select Charizard and Articuno being pretty damn close to that too also makes me believe that was their goal when possible.
>>
>>9488352
Though to be fair, they did put bewear and lapras as 4.5 figures (really hope jazwares remakes those as 12 inch figures) but it was their first wave and they wanted the alola legendaries to be the 12 inch figs so I can somewhat see why they did that.
>>
>>9488483
That was WCT back then before Jazwares had purchased them. They were a much smaller company, with less resources, but yeah those should have definitely been larger. It's looking like Jazwares may finally be slowly pivoting towards putting figures in the correct lines where they scale best as of lately, especially with the introduction of the 6" super articulated SKU

All your pics look so nice. Great collection! I don't like how the Kids figures look next to the regulars but you said you're going to be replacing them over time. Some like Paras, Poliwag, Cottonee, Sewaddle, Minccino, Caterpie, Metapod etc already have good 1/12 scale figs available from various companies so at least you wouldn't have to wait for a company to make those guys.

Speaking of Unown has there ever been a line that did all the letters? I have the tomy and its also G, I'm guessing they choose him to be the main Unown cause it stands for gamefreak. Having a set of all the letters where you can spell out words would be really fun.
>>
>>9488795
Zukan made the whole set but it's pretty small scale. Probably okay though for most setups. They are kinda hard to come by though.

Yeah Zukan anything would be wayyyyyyyyyy too small for 1/12 stuff like Figmas or Jazwares.

Just reorganized my shelf, It’s dark in photos but looks fine in person. Unfortunately/fortunately I have more figures coming in. I printed out some rocks I found on thingiverse for the fire Pokémon but I think I’ll just model the rest of the rocks and platforms myself moving forward

They're pretty small but not too bad all things considered if you're looking for scale. Especially when compared with Moncolle. Here's a picture of the only set I have compared to some normal/large Moncolle.

>>9489547
This also helped me to realize my Celebi had fallen over.
>>
>>9489547
Yeah those work for Moncolle, but the anon with the unown and I were talking about 1/12 scale like Jazwares and Figma figures. All the Zukan stuff is way to small for that.

Some nice stuff there

I really like your collection anon! Which figs do you have coming in next? I'm really curious to see the rocks that you've printed and what's your ideas with the Fire pokemon.
I had a similar idea. I have this Onix >>9475195 that I wanna make a small corner diorama for, kind of like the pewter gym in pic related. Maybe print out some sand texture as a vinyl base and populate it with two or three brown rocks. The brown tamashii ones are too expensive now for just a diorama, so I was thinking about printing out some papercraft boulders on card as a cheap alternative.

When is Shodo Wave 8 going to be announced? Surprised we havent heard anything yet
>>
>>9490057
I hate modern /toys/ layers of irony
>>
>>9490028
If you mean the select 6 inch one, then Charizard is also great. Greninja on the other hand isn’t that good, the Tomy one is much better.
>>
>>9489980
Unown is fine we didn't need like 60 Alcremie variants though.
>>
>>9490028
>>9490330
Articuno and Charizard are good. Greninja is bad. Articuno is about the same height as Charizard, so close to being in scale too. Stupidly, Greninja is taller than Charizard, so get the Tomy figure instead like the other anon said.

I'm worried...We were getting an announcement for the next wave long before the upcoming was one released.

Solid choice. Hope all of the other rumored ones are still coming though.
>>
>>9490919
Very nice! So now we have 10 Select figures from retailer listings that haven't been released yet if you include Rayquaza. I wonder how the waves will be broken down or if they will all just be reelased one at a time like Charizard/Articuno/Greninja were. If Moltres and Dragapult are due in August like that Gamestop listing says, I wonder if we get all the other mons between now and then?
>>
>>9490919
I hope we get the galarian birds eventually, Galarian Zapdos is my favourite
>>
>>9491163
Seems very unlikely desu. You can't make just one, and taking up three slots in the line that gets so few figures a year seems like something that won't happen while its this young.
