So I finally got my Virginie and my PGV girl trio is finally complete. Next I have to start working on their ride, a SW:VC Assault Tank, so they can all fit in the cab comfortably with the lid closed.

The "Assault Tank" (it's an armored pick up truck) is a great piece and I love the amount of detail that went into it. But at the same time I *hate* all the weird cut corners and design choices they made. Like how the main hatch is a removable piece when there's clearly a perfectly placed hinge seam molded into it so it could've had an actual opening canopy. Or how the driver seat is permanently raised so the driver always has his head poking out. Or how the captain's seat is actually it's own separate piece...but it's molded in the folded up position so the captain can't actually sit in it. Though it's not like they left any space for the captain to sit down to begin with.

That said, off the top of my head, this is the only armored transport type vehicle I can think of that has a proper pilot/co-pilot/captain style set up. Anyone else know of anything even remotely similar, with a fully usable cockpit that fits a crew of three or more?

>>9435225
I'm thinking it'll be the same size, if not only slightly bigger, then the original. But I also feel that this thing is Hasbro just testing the waters, no pun intended, for a possible Flagg re-release. Basically just an upgrade to the originals bunch-o-panels with a big central tower type deal. The size alone would be enough for it to garner lots of attention as a future Haslab, even if it only contains minimal upgrades.
>>
>>9436439
I don't think the Flagg is at all financially viable. It would be substantially more than anything else from HasLab.

i honestly don't want Hasbro to do giant vehicles, because they're just way too fucking big.
Takes up a ton of space and i'd rather have more accurately scaled medium stuff.
pic is what I'd love to see instead.

But I'm hypocritical and would love a terror drome, despite not having any space for it. I'll fucking make space.
>>
>>9436444
Well the Sail Barge was $500 for a 4" toy, but it had a lot of depth and levels and even soft goods. A Flagg would certainly be the most expensive Haslab ever made, but it could mostly be just flat panels, support struts and that one single tower...along side all it's other little bells and whistles. Basically, the two could end up using the same amount of plastic overall, just spread out differently, which is how the original worked.

>>9436454
For general releases, I agree with this completely. But a Haslab should be obnoxiously large, "biggest ever" type stuff. The Skystriker is such an oddity in terms of Haslabs because it is just another jet. It's the oddly small Haslab in a sea of literal giants.

>For general releases, I agree with this completely. But a Haslab should be obnoxiously large
here's the problem: retailers really don't want giant sized anything anymore.
This is why there's barely any large and medium shit like there used to be in the 80s, 90s, and 00s. Only lines like Star Wars BARELY get them now.
So Haslab should try smaller stuff, especially with 1:12 shit. Not that i care for 1:12 shit.
>>
>>9436473
>So Haslab should try smaller stuff

....you seem to not understand the concept behind Haslab. The whole point of it is to do those giant pieces retailers don't want, but a specific amount of fans DO want. These things don't see shelves, they're one time runs, direct to market items for people willing to foot the bill up front.

Pretty sure the whole point was to do stuff that retailers wouldn't take, not just giant stuff. Stuff that Hasbro had plans for and fans want.
The only theme that Hasbro really has with these Pulse kickstarters is just lack of retail support products, they never said "only giant stuff"

So, Roboskull Kickstarter finally ended, they hit every stretch goal and even added some weird collector cards. Probably ended up being the most successful vehicular toy Kickstarter to date, or at least in the 1:18 scale.
>>
>>9445736
I think it definitely helped that it works for multiple scales, plus the extremely 'out there' design that certainly attracted more than just people who'd want a 1/18 helicopter or something. On top of the fact that it looks pretty incredible and has a lot of free upgrades to the base vehicle. Plus the fact that there's vintage O-ring style, modern 1/18, and Marauders's first 1/12 figures. Especially for people who got in on the early All-Ins (or sniped them as some cancelled), there's a lot of value in (I would even say all facets of) the package.
>>
>>9445745
I'm looking forward to the extended backer kit for the Vietnam stuff more than this actually.
I suspect the extension gave them some add-ons that they were originally going to have to unlock and I'm hoping for Space Dudes or Divers.
>>
>>9445775
I'll admit I'm only vaguely familiar with the Vietnam stuff. I've been disconnected from 1/18 for some time, and also 1/12 desu. I just went in on the Roboskull because of how unique it is, and fits a lot of the aesthetics I enjoy. It's also a a fun tribute that one of the pilot's will have the likeness of the original Roboskull's creator. I wasn't originally going to, but in the backer kit I may actually get a second 6" figure so I can have him as the pilot, and another one as a trooper with the claws. I'll give it some thought.
>>
>>9445745
I'm hoping they come out with some more off the wall stuff like this. I have tons of armored 4x4s already, I need crazy skull mechs or sick dragon faced tanks or some other pure metal machine that can fit a full crew of figures.

>>9445775
I almost forgot about that...and I'm glad it was extended. My bank account has been hit hard these past few weeks, and MTF being smart enough to not let their backerkit overlap with the Skullitron was a fantastic move and just another reason they're one of my favorite toy companies around.
>>
>>9445794
>MTF being smart enough to not let their backerkit overlap with the Skullitron
Plus the fact that there was collaboration with them on the Roboskull project, I doubt they'd want their to be any overlapping of funds. Hopefully all these figures turn out well, including their much anticipated 6" line that feels like it has been in the works in some form for a long time now.

Not sure if anyone is interested or even remembers this project. But the M.A.R.V. 4x4 is actually up for sale. It was a failed KS that sat around for a while, but the guy running apparently just went ahead and made the thing anyway. It looks pretty nice, has a very beefy vibe going, and comes in a few different color choices. If I didn't just drop so much on the Skullitron thing, I'd probably grab one of them, but as of this moment the toy budget is drained. Hopefully they stick around until after the holidays, as I can always find a use for a good, basic, heavily armed 4x4.

The plastic on the “wagon cover” or whatever fits over the bed is a little thin but the rest of it is decently sturdy. It feels like classic plastic toy truck. It’s not as hard a plastic as like GI Joe vehicles but still feels as sturdy; much more than the Joy Toy one. This thing with the paint details from the Joy Toy truck would be perfect. It’s smaller but you can fit more guys in this one.

i already own two of Hasbro's hummers and at least one of the PTE humvees. My other one may or may not be an Elite Force hvm, since they were also pretty light.
So i really don't need another hmv. PTE's are cheapshit, btw. Really brittle hollow cheapshit. Elite Force's are more solidly built, but have brittle plastic as well. I forget what the underside of the one that think might be EF's looks like, since they have a real underside and PTE's are just has the negative showing.

I want a MRAV because i don't have MRAV. Someone mentioned the JoyToy one, which i thought about buying, but looks too much like a monster truck vs the Wayward Goat's that looks the real deal.

I have a boatload of vehicles, with these being the ones that would fit in a simple comparison for my Russian radar truck. I have another Abrams, another Bradley, another Warthog, an LAV, another of the green trucks, a bunch of the same model HISSes, another acid rain mecha, construction vehicles, even more scale cars, and boxes full of GI Joe vehicles. Plus whatever I'm forgetting, like an EF Little Bird... star wars vehicles.... etc.
Variety is spice.

oh, and i just remembered i DO have a MRAV looking thing, the Mattel Jurassic Park vehicle, but it's a gimmick toy that pops open so nothing can sit inside it. The back is open, so at least shit can lay in there and can work as a dio-piece.
>>
>>9436439
The only two that come to mind for me are the Aliens Armored Personnel Carrier & the Star Wars VC Mandalorian Troop Transport. The former is truly incredible, easily the best and most detailed and spacious vehicle I have in this scale (not saying much as I have very few) but is also by far more expensive than many alternatives. The Mando troop transport is nice and I actually like it just a little more than the tank because it fits more people comfortably in general and the two pilot chairs up front are pretty much the same. It’s spacious enough to fit most of my Acid Rain guys as long as they’re not wearing backpacks or bulky belts.

seconding I want a pgv painted nude figure. I've seen the blanks, but never figured if I could head swap a painted head.

The boss fight bodies are okay, but the heads are shit and it's so hit or miss to mix and match with a hasbro head.

You can swap heads onto a PGV body from pretty much any 1/18 figure.

The base figure is from a line called Planet Green Valley, which got hit hard with years long production issues, burning out it's creator and causing the line to release with a trickle and mostly be sold directly from the guy making them.

However it's been...lets say modified...with an "enhanced" chest piece and what looks like custom boots and "shorts". Not sure where all that stuff is from, but I'm sure ebay is involved.

The figures themselves are pretty great, the official releases come with lots of stuff while the direct releases are usually more trimmed down. But they're not particularly easy to get a hold of for various reasons.

I only have four myself, all from the original pre-order run. I'm just glad they're out there for others to get, but having to DM a guy on Facebook or however you actually get these things isn't really something I feel like doing lol.

get someone on Etsy or Fiverr to paint the blank heads for you. also the new ones come with printed faces so you just need to paint the hair.

Why not? Weihua is a cool lad and totally reliable.
>>
>>9486509
Don't get me wrong, while never having dealt directly with him myself, I've only ever heard the best things about the guy. The fact that he ended up having to distribute all of these figures directly himself just shows how reliable he is and how much he wants others to enjoy these figures he put so much effort into. Not many people would put that much effort into making sure people got what they paid for, especially after all the headaches he went through himself with the production issues.

Personally, I originally only wanted a trio of the girls, which I got. My fourth was just an impulse buy because the blank figure looked so nice and came with tons of stuff.

Even if they were readily available in stores, I'd probably hesitate to buy more. But having to do emails and middlemen and all that, I'm fine with what I have so I'll leave that to those who really want these fantastic figures.

Do you have the Mind Controller? Have you had any QC issues overall? TELL ME NOW!!!
>>
>>9486659
lad, I have three Mind Controllers, two of them still on card. I have never had a single production issue with any PGV figure, they are really well-made. There was a bad batch which Weihua had destroyed rather than sell them.

paying for them is a pain, yeah. I have to go through an intermediary who I don't even know, I feel uncomfortable bothering him, he's a well-known toy youtuber who knows Weihua.

This here Virgie >>9485973 had a left arm that just snapped right out the package. Notice her missing the wrist part of the glove? I put her hand on an extra blank arm I so I was wondering whether that was an isolated incident.

Hm, never had any issues. Did you warm it up in hot water before giving it a good workout?

I’ve been dying to get some proper base or diorama to keep my army and I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts or experience with those Scene in Box sets, like this large watchtower for example. My honest main issue is that I’m running out of places to put them but theoretically once I move stuff aside and get the tower up and running that I can use it to store much of my 1:18 stuff.
>>
>>9490740
I heard these particular ones skew much closer to 1:24 than 1:18. The product page lists it as compatible with both for some reason despite the fact that it totally wouldn't work that way.
There's the Joy Toy mech depot stuff, but to get a big base going it's gonna cost ya. And there's no bunk room option which is the deal breaker for me.
>>
>>9490747
That’s unfortunate but thanks for the heads up. I was also eyeing the joy toy ones but like you said it seems they only wanna sell it to you all chopped up. Maybe I’ll cave and grab some of the comfier pieces like the lounge but I guess I’ll stick to my cardboard and dollhouse for now lol
>>
>>9490779
Care to share a pic of the lounge? I'm thinking of grabbing the observation tower and then scouring the internet for like cots and makeshift looking computer consoles to make a sorta "end of the world refuge" type joint.
>>
>>9490797
I may have been generous when I called it a lounge but here’s two for you, the “Meeting area” and the “Medical area.” They seem kinda small but they do look at least detailed and somewhat comfy. Sorry for the late reply, work got busy.

Maybe not the most advanced or comfortable looking beds in the world, but the World Peacekeepers bunk sets are fantastic and fairly cheap if you're just looking for a place for your troops to hunker down. And if you don't like the idea of bunkbeds, well it's a problem a good pair of snippers could easily fix!

Honestly, World Peacekeepers make the best basic buildings and dio stuff. The Joytoy and the Complex stuff are great and all for the more detailed stuff, but they get way too expensive.

Also, look into the Fortnite sets, their panel based building system can make some really nice looking backdrops and facades with just a bit of work and creativity.
