oh noes old thread died>Welcome to Plastic Building Blocks General. Discuss all non-Lego building block brands, foreign and domestic, here. Show off something you've built recently!Previously: https://archive.nyafuu.org/toy/thread/9182724/
I was just checking out some of Gudi's upcoming releases, and it looks like they moved to a propietary design for their minifigures at some point. Seems to be the direction all the main Chinese brands are going to avoid Lego lawsuits.
Anybody got the Reobrix castle already? What are your impressions?
Finally finished the CaDA C61041W last week. Thankfully all the functions work, even though I'm sure some mistakes were made. It's now sitting among the other CaDAs, Mould Kings and Sembos. Hope the C61042W arrives soon.
Is Toti Royal a chinesiem brand?
I cannot stop buying Cobi tanks. Help.!
>>9409813How bad is it?
>>9411175It all started with the Tiger Ausf. E.After that I bought a M24 Chaffee, a T 34, a Panzer IV and Sherman. All in the last 2 weeks.
>>9413588Time to take control then before it gets really out of hand, that's a lot in a short time, especially if that persists/increases to the point where you're cutting into costs of living. Put together a rewards program, work out a budget, force yourself to not buy any more until you've derived some fun from the tanks you have... just a few ideas if you're actually in need of an intervention. Cobi tanks are rarely affordable in my area but I was buying several other brands' tanks off AliExpress last year, financial considerations forced my hand but storage space (a pre-existing concern) became just as much of a limiting factor.
Well, the experiment with the "GOBRICKS Store" on Aliexpress failed. This one: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/911930528After sitting in the status "cancelled" and an invalid tracking number for almost two months, I opened a dispute, and it was essentially immediately granted. It's annoying as hell to have to do it individually for each item, but oh well.Too bad. I wish there was an easy way to grab Gobricks bricks there, but it's back to resellers for me.
>>9416194I believe there's an international official store. I don't remember the name though.
>>9416194>gobricksDid you contact them every week? Those niggers are lazy and if you're not messaging them all the time until they ship your item you're doing it wrong.
>>9419808I can find better things to do with my time besides whipping chinks to do their job if they want the money.
Anyone have this? It looks fucking sick https://www.yourwobb.com/collections/military-series/products/moc-c6960-sr-71-blackbird
>>9426988> 2. Warning: can not eatwell fuck that
Why is this thread so dead? There is so much cool shit besides Lego.
>>9429650Finances have been a little tight of late, plus the one recent AliExpress order I made (a small one for some printed tiles) took over a month to arrive due to the ongoing snarls at the borders, kinda reluctant to order anything more at this time. Local sources of Chinese legos haven't had much new stock of interest for a while either.
>>9429650I'm just waiting for a shop that sells purple pieces.
>>9429650I reckon there isn't much of an overlap between being old enough to have plenty of disposable income, going out of your way to find alternatives to Lego after growing up with it and actually hanging out on 4chan of all places.
>>9430831That's a really pretty rock formation, anon
>>9429650Personally? I don’t like or want to support China. I’m willing to buy Kreo and Cobi, though.
>>9431281lmao what a retard
What's a good source of regular building bricks for cheap? I don't need special peices or anything. I just need bricks but don't want to spend a lot of money on Lego.
>>9431731Just look up "Building block", "Moc" or "Lego" and add "lot".Many shops sell lots of different pieces on aliexpress
A few moon ago, an Anon posted a Sluban (or Sembo ?) pdf catalog. Despite checking the archive, i haven't been able to find it back.It showed a nice Cobra combat chopper and a "Predator" line. If anyone has it or link ?
>>9431148Here Anon, have more of it.
>>9433025Don't have the pdf but Sluban is the one with a Predators line if that helps.
>>9433353ThanksI have taken a look at Sluban european website to confirm it's their catalog. But it's only the "kosher" stuff there.
Latest catalog (?)https://view.publitas.com/sluban/sluban-catalogus-22-1/page/1
Winter 2020https://view.publitas.com/34938/1046167/pdfs/7401e4cd789205c53440f0efc6af14f9e7108b6f.pdfMight have been this one
Got those Sluban Predators sets a couple years ago during the initial lockdown, great-looking designs and I really dig their take on the Predator in their fig style, though it makes him the same size as everyone else when he should be somewhat larger. I had some clutch issues with both, but especially with the APC set.
>>9434179The APC's problem is the side armor: with Lego it would already be a bit fragile, while Sluban's slightly softer clutch has been a source of frustration. After a particularly irritating accident I ended up gluing a few of the parts together, wasn't ever going to decommission the vehicle for other use anyway and it's worth the reduction in headaches.
New Make-It Blocks sets showed up on the Dollar Tree website. Some interesting parts included in the sets (the moped. the motorcycle fairing, the BURP...). No figures included, though?
>>9434723That's not a BURP, anon. This is a BURP.What you have there is a LEGO-47847 piece, which as far as I'm concerned is worse - it's a confused mix between being decorative and structural.
I got all details i wanted on those Sluban sets. By combining predator's UH-1 with AH-1Z (especially tail and turbine/rotor assembly) you can get a modern UH-1Y or a Vietnam era Cobra.I'll use those as templates to build with better bricks. If Sluban quality is still MEH.I remember also seeing tan and olive drab Cobras on Ali maybe from other brands.
I love autistic germans https://www.bluebrixx.com/de/military-models/104125/Biber-Bundeswehr-Xingbao
>>9434889My mistake. I thought BURP was an acronym to describe any Lego rock element.
Thankfully this one arrived before the new Lego patent kills the sales for good. Definitely much more fun to build than C61041W, but a damn shame that super cars with working gearboxes might be a thing of the past unless someone comes up with a new piece or design.
Does anyone know this brand ? Those sets are look alike to those from Sembo but seems simpler. For now only found 3 stores that sell them but more expensive than Sembo stuff. I will refrain till i find a cheaper option for the whole lot.
anyone know of a good chink(or cheap) equivalent? im probably getting the cobi pt-109, if i have some money left after Christmas
>>9437651>tfw pajeet stick fight set but no murican sailors
>>9434179>>9434192Predator looks great>>9437239>Thankfully this one arrived before the new Lego patent kills the sales for goodThe WHAT now?
>>9437682https://worldwide.espacenet.com/patent/search/family/065036768/publication/EP3737481A1?q=pn%3DEP3737481A1>A toy gearbox comprising at least one gear shaft (1, 2) rotatably supported by a gear support construction and having at least one spline, and at least one gear wheel (21, 22, 23, 24) rotatably arranged on the gear shaft (1, 2), a first clutch member (50) being attached to the gear wheel (21, 22, 23, 24) and rotatably arranged on the gear shaft (1, 2) and a second clutch member comprising a driving ring (41, 42) being fixed against rotation about and slidably arranged on the gear shaft (1, 2) and comprising a guide member (45) and at least one claw clutch (46, 47) for selectively engaging or disengaging with the first clutch member (50) and thereby engaging or disengaging the gear wheel (21, 22, 23, 24) from rotating along with the gear shaft and where an axial cam (10) arranged on a gear shifter axle (11) being mounted in the gear support construction and having an axis of symmetry extending parallel with the gear shaft (1, 2), so that the guide member (45) on the axially slidable driving ring (41, 42) engages with the axial cam (10).tl;drSelling models that infringe this patent isn't a good idea. The CaDA Master sets can't be sold anymore. Shops aren't willing to take the risk and it's close to impossible to find certain sets.
>>9437281The only thing I know about Qunlong is they were the company Hasbro partnered with for those China exclusive Transformers sets to tie in with the Chinese TF cartoon. http://qunlongtoys.cn/
>>9404988I've been looking at some 32x32 city baseplates and for some reason every chink plate I see, the normal plate is 25,5cm and the road plate is 25,6cm. Is that an oversight on all the stores or are chink roads bigger? how bad would that look side by side on a grid?
>>9438918They should all be 255 mm - 32x8 mm with 0.5 mm "give" on each side. But even if they for some weird reason aren't, they should still fit fine, just without the 1 mm gap that's typical of Lego baseplates. In worst case, sand down the sides slightly.
>>9438924thanks, gonna buy it anyway and see how it goes, my grid is 6x10 - 32x32 plates, maybe at the very end I will start to have some problems, in any case a bit of sand paper will fix it like you said
What are the better bootlego brands for friends and elves sets?
>>9439008For Elves, Bela is great. The only thing that's not 100% are the minidoll prints and some Technic parts. I assume it's about the same for Friends.
Has it become harder to search for unlego on aliexpress? I feel like it was way easier to check brands and find things before
>>9439494It's always been something of a chore if you're just browsing for sets by keyword. I find that having something like a catalog number makes searching far easier.
Just came across this on baidu
Has anybody here heard of an online store called capes4minifigs? I was looking to get a bionicle Vezon set recently and his cape rises up the price considerably, but I found that these guys make reproductions for like $5 each and ship worldwide. They say they're made of 100% polyester, and from a youtube video I found (it's one of the first results when you look them up) it seems to be very close to the original fabric.Does anyone here have experience with them? I'm heavily considering going for it.
what is the best modular style building I should buy right now? I have most of the lego ones but I have an itch for more.
>>9446581If the style doesn't matter at all, the new huge BlueBrixx half-timber house. 5300 pieces, 190€, very detailed
any new gobricks buying methods? or do you still have to navigate moonrunes?i started working on my moc again
Can anyone recommend me a mech set
well sam's club have knock off lego drone for 99$
>>9449038Why not.. buy a real drone?
>>9450058because building a drone from "lego" bricks is fun i guess.
>>9431281Isn't most of the Lego stuff made in China too?I support Cobi where i can but their offerings are very limited overall.
>>9446931The interior is absolutely fantastic.
>>9430831I really really need that Blaustein.
>>9405076>>9411175>>9413703I love how since the one thing lego won't do is military shit, all the lego clones go overboard with all being military shitI wonder if anyone is going to fill in the knockoff bionicles for coomers niche
>>9435327>even chinese are wehraboos
>>9453097Chinese bonkleshit is a thing, yeah
>>9453122I meant sets that are coomershit on purpose
>>9453143Those retards should be range-banned.
>>9453143Asians are kinda prude though.
>>9453097Why would anyone do that?!?
>>9409813>CobiOh no.I bought one of their ships on a whim and was really expecting some jank chinesium with awful feeling blocks. I was really surprised with how well they felt. I now have a Scharnhorst on the way. I'm also looking at one of the carriers too.
>>9453097no one besides broke, libtard americans care about bionicles
>>9453300then why there's so many of them?
>>9454218>The retarded american is mistaking niche fetish shit as wide spread
>>9454242He meant so many asians, not so many coomer sets. The answer is simple: Being prude does not stop you from fucking your wife and making children. In contrary, a prude couple might only do vaginal sex while the lights are out, whereas an open minded couple might do all sorts of crazy things, not all might result in pregnancy.
>>9454561found the american
>>9454561It has a few connections with Technic parts where you need skill and/or a good grip, so 8+ sounds about right. It also has nice printed parts, even over multiple pieces (top row, consisting of two Lego11153 parts in the middle and a 5x10 half-round slope I don't recognise at the top and bottom) and round ones (the Lego-86500 parts in the bottom row).
Put together Cobi's M4A3E8! I've now put together four Cobi Shermans, haha. The Easy Eight bears a striking resemblance to one from a certain movie, but it looks great! Love all the equipment and ad hoc armor piled on the hull. The build for the HVSS suspension was really well done too.
>>9460008Two complaints; first, the tracks are tight and don't roll very smoothly, but that's a minor gripe. My bigger issue is with the gun mantlet. They should have used a new part or built something up with bricks, as the rounded piece they used looks quite wrong on this model of Sherman. There's also a pretty large gap behind the mantlet, which again may have been addressed if they built the mantlet up with bricks instead of that single mantlet piece.Still, overall a neat model and a fun build!
>>9460032Even if the movie is shit, the extra stuff attached to the tank adds alot to its look. I think they did a great job with the running gear too. Compared with the regular M4 next to it its absolutely clear what version of Sherman this is.
>>9453863Cobi has probably better brick quality than Lego because all their stuff is made in Poland.
>>9460008I have both the Easy Eight and the Jumbo and was a bit disappointed. They look good but had a few missing parts each and the build was a bit fiddly compared to other cobi tanks like the Tiger or the M24 Chaffee.
>>9460032wait, they do have ammocans for the 50cals, why do they always include those ugly ammo belts reeeee
I don't check up on this thread much, but the Dollar Trees near me are stocking boxes of 100 bricks. So I built an anime cat girl for $20. She is over a foot tall and holds together pretty nice. A handful of the bricks were scuffed and weird, but for a penny each I'm not mad.
>>9462654That's some cool brick-work. How did you design it?
>>9462835Bricklink's Stud.io has a thing to import 3d files. I just found the model and ran it through the program. It lets you pick what pieces to use so I used the ones that come in the packs. 2x4, 2x3, 2x2, 1x4,1x2, and 1x1s.
https://www.modbrix.de/products/modbrix-9024-haunebu-2-0-reichsflugscheibe-ufo-427-klemmbausteineProduct page is up for the second Haunebu set supposed to be available for order very soon
>>9464996Not a huge fan actually. I have and liked the first version, although the quality was not as good as other brands like Cobi, Qman or Cada. The render looks great with light blue energy beam below it, but the actual pics show it in trans clear.. that sucks. I guess i'm gonna pass on this.
>>9465126I also have the first model, and it is shit i agree. I did ask modbrix, and they said they have improved on the design and quality of the new model. Now they could obviously be lying, but desu i was gonna buy it anyway. I'll report back when i have built it
>>9465126why is their so much plastic block hobbyist and wehraboo overlap
>>9465947Is there? Its two sets. For every Wehrmacht tank you find at least one of soviet or western allied origin.
>>9465947Because Wehrmacht stuff has by far the most style. Just compare a Tiger to the US or Soviet tanks.
>>9465947bruh it's a fucking nazi ufo it's funny
I have this thing and honestly I'm unsure what to do with it, there's one other person selling the same fuckup on ebay so at least I finally have a price to compare it to.
>>9461105I've been enjoying them, I bought a few more sets. Trying to debate on what I want to get next, its a shame they have an assload of discontinued sets.
just bought this for my city, does anyone have it? hows the quality? and does anyone have a better idea for a base? I don't like the tiny central station, it won't make sense on my city
>>9472416could be fun to cannibalize this for some sort of cyberpunk city
>>9473197you gave me a great idea for my next project, a cyberpunk megabuilding
>>9473197>>9473949speaking of the devil
I just came across some new sets on the Qman website. The Onmyoji theme is getting small second wave. All the sets appear to be vendor stalls from the game, I guess? I need the bunny girl... for reasons.
>>9475490In addition to the previously announced Naruto sets, Qman/Keeppley is releasing a line of Brickheadz-style sets based on the main characters.
>>9475493Lastly, there's some sort of collaboration with something called QQSpeed? Looks like a mecha racing anime of some sort.
>>9475498Looks like sets include two models per box? Sure are a lot of specialized parts.
Post the girliest weeaboo building brick sets. I want to make an edgelord suffer.
>>9475490that minifig looks great>>9475498qqspeed is a shitty mobile game afaik

>>9475501>a lot of specilized partsmore like no bricks altogether, at least i cant spot any,the closest thing to system are clips and mixel joints, not even the monkeykingbar-thing is made from round bricks
>>9476895comfy set someone got an ali link?though those replacement hands are super cursed
>>9477364You could try searching via their set numbers - KS001 to KS004 according to brick4.com.
>>9433228Where did you get this from? I like it.
30 maplebucks from TRU yesterday, how can Lego even compete?
Bros is there any website or aliexpress seller that I can buy nazi legos from that will get here in time for christmas? Im willing to pay more than usual to ensure it gets here in time. Im in America
>>9477687Oh, fun. A rebranded QMAN 1729 "Air raid heavy armored tank". Anyway, against Qman/Enlighten/Keeppley ... they could, but they want. I mean, it would require just to make less profit, stop pretending to not release war-themed sets (*cough* Star Wars *cough*), listen to the existing customer base's wishes, and release a whole range of useful SNOT parts for creative build techniques. So essentially unpossible.
>>9477861Pretty sure Dragon Blok is a general distributor of Chinese legos brands in Canada, they also do Wange sets and others.Yeah everything you said, plus stop pandering to the woke tards, fire everybody who was involved in vidiyo (preferably into the sun), stop trying to bully other plastic building block brands and distributors and instead compete with them directly at the product level... And while we're dreaming, perform public penance for their many, many sins.
does anyone know a good moc set for a hospital? don't need to be an exact hospital set, just something that can pass as one. I need one for my city but it needs to be equal or less than 32x32 studs long. This one from jie star looks nice but it's too large
>>9478093Why not get it and modify it for your purposes?
>>9478155you are right, but it's very expensive for something I will probably only use 1/3 of it, so if there was something else already being 1/3 of it and 1/3 of the price would be great
Anyone knows if someone out there makes a Lotus Seven/Caterham close to the Lego one from 2016? All the supercars ande sporty stuff is nice but I'm a nerd and I need my nerdmobile, and fuck people starting their auction prices for the original one at 100 bucks.
>>9477357it could be their version of Lego's "constraction" figure: a Technic skeleton covered with specialized panels and little to no system elements
>>9477687I have loads of that military series by Qman, and the minifigs are just adorable. The builds are quite good too. Sadly the price increase for chinese block sets is really noticeable here, so i did not buy anything recently. If i would see that tank for that price on sale, it would be an instant buy.old pic related
>>9478639Not fond of their figs myself but the builds make up for it. Really digging that big submarine that opens up into a base, just like that old micromachines set I still have kicking around somewhere. That UN line was the last Qman one to have lego figs wasn't it.
>>9479565>Euro>out of stock anywaysWhy must fate be so cruel.
>>9479608>That UN line was the last Qman one to have lego figs wasn't it.I'm not sure with their release schedule, but the UN line overlaps with their new range of UN sets, with the new type of figure.
>>9479565>>9479628Your only chance is to sign up for the email notification and instantly buy that shit once they restock. The good bluebrixx sets like this one are always sold out really fast.
>>9479670Just glad we got some before Lego's legal bullying kicked in.
>>9479679didn't all lego designs patents expired? don't think they can do much if someone make minifig
>>9479686No idea really, just know that Lego won a major legal battle in China and now most stores on AliExpress still selling minifigs go to great lengths to conceal the full nature of such wares, while the bigger Chinese brands have transitioned into their own minifig designs. Seen some experimentation along the way, though these are more like Legofied Playmobil figs really.
>>9479695>Lego won a major legal battle in China and now most stores on AliExpress still selling minifigs go to great lengths to conceal the full nature of such waresthat explain so much, I always wondered why they censored the minifigs on set pictures, or even stores selling minifigs only put the head or body and not the entire pic of the minifig
>>9479722Some were already doing that but since things went Lego's way just a couple years ago, everybody has had to take steps to toe the line. I think China is loving the hell out of it, they're winning regardless of how things go.
>>9479749bless the chinese, they can do whatever the fuck they want and we get stuff lego would never dream of doing
>>9479686minifigs are still theirs in the western world.
>>9479686>didn't all lego designs patents expired?the point of contention isn't patent. lego asserts the shape of their minifigure constitutes a 3-D trademark, which has no expiration for as long they exist. this argument has been upheld by courts internationally.https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-33147827
How long do qman/keepley typically produce and keep a product available? I want to buy their naruto stuff as my first foray into not-lego, but cant spend a lot right now. Want to make sure I dont miss a set and have to pay scalper prices
>>9480898A few years, I guess. I could get most of the 2018 "High-Tech Era" sets - though not all of them - this year at the usual Chinese prices, so those had a good production run too. I'd imagine a wildly popular license like Naruto will get an even better one.Qman already produces lots of sets for two big markets - Chinese and Russian. They don't seem to believe in artificial scarcity, especially not now that they try to expand into the EU.
>>9480905>>9480898This.If its released this year, i expect it to be available in 2-4 years still. However, prices do raise. Not only because Qman is getting more expensive, but transportation and everything made from plastic is getting very costly.
>set use's a custom partWell so much for just copying it and and buy all the parts off BL
Fuck I'm so mad about how the lawsuit turned out. Lego absolutely deserved to get undercut for making shitty soulless overpriced sets and ugly licenseshit. Now all the cool military themed knockoff legos will have weirdly proportioned minifigs that won't fit in with the normal lego ones.
>>9487430There's still plenty of normal military minifigs around, the bigger fallout from the legal battle was a crackdown on exact copies of existing Lego sets, which has only taken a couple of the largest players out of the game really. Sure, Enlighten/Qman has gone the safe route with their retarded chibi figs but the sets are solid and one can always source figs elsewhere. Anyone know if QuanGuan will stay the course, would love to see them expand beyond WW2.
>>9487430>>9487459when did that lawsuit happen? I still see plenty of normal "lego" sets being sold on china
>>9487488https://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/news/2020/january/lepin-case/The outcome was decided January of last year:https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=b5885af2-96d3-41f9-b7c4-1ec17781524dAs noted earlier in the thread, some brands have taken measures to differentiate themselves enough from Lego by changing their minifig designs, while others have simply gone semi-underground by concealing the full nature of their products. It's unclear whether Lego has been able to enforce its claim to ownership of the minifigure design; the case in question seems to be about direct copies of specific minifigs, among other things.Lego making any kind of headway in China is relatively recent in general, one can expect the fallout to drag out for years since the Chinese aren't known for giving a shit about intellectual property when there's money to be made. Lego seem to get this too and have been focusing more on waging unfair economic warfare on western distributors of these brands; there was scandal in Germany earlier this year when they threw their weight around to get some guy's shipment impounded, haven't heard how that's been going but there was a fair amount of backlash against them for such a blatant dick move.
>>9487530unless lego strong arm something like ali and other stores it won't matter much, chinese will keep selling the copies and people will still buy them, fuck lego
>>9487459>Anyone know if QuanGuan will stay the courseI think so, because even BlueBrixx who used to take out the minifigs from the sets before shipping them, now sell QuanGuan minifigs on the website. Last couple of sembo sets i've gotten from them came with minifigs too
>>9490658Bluebrixx seems to have some kind of deal with Lego, otherwise i can not think of any reason for this.In the past, they put up videos on youtube, about the penalties they had to pay to lego, because some of their sets included minifigs, but out of the sudden they go full on yolo and sell direct copies? Very strange.
>>9492038eh i think its more like a fuck you to lego, legos recent action have Given them some really bad puplicity and unlike the previous cases bluebrixx isnt a small company run by one guy. their sister company had a landmark case with model cars and licensing, so they have the csh to fight back.
>>9492371They are not small, and they fight back, but they lost a couple of lawsuits against Lego already and if you look at their western sets in collaboration with xingbao (pic related for example), they clearly choose to play save with those... (i.e. ugly new minifig designs). And out of the sudden they stock Sembo and QuanGuan figures and sets including them. Its strange.
>>9492384bluebrixx pro sets are made by sembo, thats why they have their minifig designs, bluebrixx specials are packaged by themselves
>>9492510>semboXingbaoBut you might be right.
>>9437881That's such bullshit. A MOC can't be patented.
>>9437670wait what set is the pajeet stick fight?
>>9492510>bluebrixx pro sets are made by sembo, thats why they have their minifig designsThat is not what sembo minifigs look like. pic related is what a sembo minifig looks like.
>>9492784>>9493962yeah ment xingbao, bluebrixs is xingbaos europe importeur. bluebrixx pro sets are made by them for bb and bb get special packaging for some sets (since xingbao recently copied legos 18+ package design)
Running out of space sucks. Was thinking of removing a couple vertical dividers so I don't have to put all the 1:8 scale cars on top. Might still end up that way because there are a few more 1:8's I want to get.
What's your favorite alternate minifig design?
>>9505724the one you can move shoulders, knees and waist
>>9505724none, they all look stupid
>>9480549Fuck Lego. You want million dollar? Denmark is pig disgusting.
>>9505724i like the Qman figures with their chibi aesthetic. the heads can be useful in 1/10 scale figure building in my experience.least favorite? probably a toss-up between Cobi and Block Tech. Best-Lock figures are cursed as well.
>>9507110Best-Lock figs are cursed in the best ways possible, at least. The sets are among the worst I ever had though.
>>9480549Fuck the EU. This is obvious protectionism for a failing industry.
did anyone ever bought a receiver from chinese sellers? does it work with the original lego controller?
When I bought knockoff legos as a kid it didnt even come with all the pieces on the box picture. Has the knockoff lego industry improved since then?
>>9513321Depends. Brands like Mega Construx (formerly Mega Bloks) have improved their QA so missing parts or missing bags have greatly reduced. It still happens from time to time.
>>9513321I never had a problem with missing pieces and I bought every single brand for 5 years now, sometimes I even get more pieces than needed, not even spare, just more pieces
>>9513321Depends. Some brands are shit. Some are better than lego.
>>9513341Mega construx is not a lego knockoff
>>9515176The argument could be made (and was made by Lego in a lawsuit that failed spectacularly), but it's neither here nor there as Lego itself is a knockoff.
>>9515192That is also true, good point
Are there any of these Among Us sets round your town? They are great for the monochrome/space figs and a couple parts like windows. though the bricks are bad at connecting.
>>9519556Happy Holidays Anon!Enjoy the builds!
is the daily buggle from chinese brands good?
The year's almost over. What were your favorite sets of 2021? Did you make any custom builds? Anything that you're looking forward to getting in 2022?*Pic unrelated
>>9525589At this point I just want to die
>>9525627ok but what did you build
>>9525589I mostly do custom builds, here is one of my favourites from this year. I mix whatever brands I got.My personal highlight is that recently a Bluebrixx store with a gazillion loose parts to pick from opened in my city. I went there 5 times in the past 3 weeks.
Another build I like is this little crab fren.
This steampunk guy also uses different brands in technic pins, axles and liftarms especially
>>9526696How is the quality of the bluebrixx loose bricks?
>>9526960Decent. Not as good as GoBricks, but it's pretty good. Their Technic stuff might have some issues, I found toothgears that didn't fit on axles. I'm planning on reviewing them a bit closer soon, will post here as well. Picrel has Lego and Bluebrixx.
>>9526960They use Xingbao bricks, so it's pretty midldle of the road. My BlueBrixx sets have been pretty hit or miss in terms of quality
>tfw 10 years ago this was the extent of my Lego-sized modern arsenalOrders from MinifigCat, BrickTactical and BrickWarriors are incoming; thinking about getting another of those mixed piles of guns off AliExpress sometime too.
Gonna get me some GoBricks, boys.
>>9526706>>9526708>>9528474wow, hold the fuck up. Chinks actually sell old Bionicle pieces? Not just axles and hero factory shit? Please tell me or link a shop if they do
>>9540104Idk why you would think that, when I mention pins, axles and liftarms here >>9526708 and that I use both Lego and Bluebrixx here >>9528474Read again and hold your horses, my dude.
Is there any way to see the full offerings of not-lego Chinese companies?
>>9541848browse hundreds of hours on Aliexpress until you have seen everything.
>>9477687Where in Mapleland are you? I'm easy coast and I've been. Looking for a set like this. Nothing at my local TRU
>>9543608Alberta, TRU here has been stocking DragonBlok stuff for a while.>easy coastkek
>>9543628That was a hilarious spelling mistake. They have dragon blocks but fuck all. It's always a plane, boat or fire station. Nothing else. Giant Tiger also stocks it.
>>9544057Are they also the Wange sets, rather than the Qman sets? Even on deep discount they're not really worth it, though I am partial to their great blockhead figs.
>>9544068Got that one at Crappy Tire incidentally, half-price so only 30 maplebucks but overall was fairly meh, wrote pic related up a couple years back. I have had a much better naval experience more recently: a modern destroyer that's also a DragonBlok set that was originally by Wange, also found at Crappy Tire. The clutch was much improved as was the quality of the parts. Ended up buying two as the first one I got suffered a bit of a fall and I haven't been able to find a couple of the pieces since, plus they were only $21 apiece. I found that LOZ has little cars done with mini blocks which are 3/4 the size of regular parts. Unfortunately, they are blind boxes and 4€ a pop, so idk if I'll collect them all. Cute tho.
For people from Germany: The Asterix sets which were already available in Lidl France some two months ago are officially coming there too. At least for the online shop; no idea about brick & mortar stores.https://www.lidl.de/p/playtive-clippys-asterix-obelix-bibi-tina/p100339124From what I saw in reviews: middling quality bricks, but a lot of them. Lots of stickers. Some rare or unique colours, like very light grey.
>>9549532QMan has several sets of 4-ish-wide "standard size" brick vehicles, if you're into it. Set numbers 180x.
>>9550502Thanks, but not into standard 4 wide. I like Tiny Turbo 4 wide, so smaller than minifigs. That makes the LOZ mini bricks interesting, because it gives me more room to play. That teal taxi for example is 4 mini studs wide, but 3 regular studs. This also provides more variety in wheel size. Gotta stick to one system or the other tho, as regular and mini bricks are in no way compatible.
>>9550498It will be a great opportunity to get a wooden fortress by buying the set several times. Its not listed in that link, but it belongs to the series and i'd argue that this is one of the best sets, part wise.
>>9550625It's on the same page, just different article because of the price. And you can also get that horse stall too, which looks nice even if I don't care about the theme or minifigs.https://www.lidl.de/p/playtive-clippys-asterix-bibi-und-tina/p100339125
Speaking about Lidl:https://www.lidl.de/p/playtive-clippys-set-m/p100337581I just found pic/link related while surfing around there. Looks pretty cool and has plenty of nice parts for sci-fi builds.
Bought 2 more blind boxes of cars by LOZ with mini blocks. The folks at the Bluebrixx mega store were friendly enough to weigh the boxes for me so that I don't get the taxi again. Fun! I'm liking the purple truck, the other one wasn't completely thought through. Got me some ideas for own creations tho, so it was worth the money.
Anybody got an idea if someone made "caveman" or "barbarian" or similarly themed minifigs? There's a Lego Series 11 one, of course (pic related), which I could get for some 2 to 3 Euros, but I'd prefer some variety.
>>9557906Winner Jurassic World: cavemen against poachersyourwobb.com/collections/winner-jurassic-world-seriespk4v4
>>9558230Hadn't even heard of that one, Winner sure has some interesting themes.>that uruk sword
>>9558230Nice find, anon. Too bad there seem to be just four cavemen prints in the whole small set list, but it's better than nothing.8048 Dinosaur Tribe Supply Ship - 2 cavemen, 1 other8049 Dinosaur Capture Helicopter - 1 caveman, 2 others8050 Dinosaur Capture SUV - 1 caveman, 2 others8051 Dinosaur Capture Jeep - 1 caveman, 2 others8052 Dinosaur Capture Truck - 1 caveman, 2 others8053 Dinosaur Tribe - 2 cavemen, 3 others
>>9558885Maybe you can find some of the older Enlighten Pirate sets, some of those Islanders could work as Cavemen i guess?http://www.enlightensets.com/sets/Enlighten/Pirates%20-%20Legendary%20Pirates
Went to the Bluebrixx store again. Bought mostly reddish brown and leaves, among some other parts. 20€ for the lot of it.
