Bandai changed the fucking game with the Ikimono Daizukan series. Every other small animal/bug gacha instantly became nigh-worthless in my eyes. Even perfectly fine and decent sets that come out go unbought now, cause "what if Bandai does this animal next?" It's unreal.

Back in the late-2000s, I (and many other /toy/ soldiers) bemoaned the lack of super articulated normal animal toys. It took a while to get here, but man, was it ever worth it.
>>
>>9390522
Oh yeah, I know there are lots of other great voices in the gacha game, I was just talking specifically about super-poseable animal gacha. Which Bandai is dominating right now.
>>
>>9390519
uhm.. what? I'm not following what your grievance is about these. I get more upset but how quickly they they go out of stock, like the Rhino Beetles. Hell even the rollie pollies are hard to find now
>>
>>9390526
Grievance? Bro, I was talking about how much I love them! I was just saying Bandai is so good at what they do that they've ruined all other animal gacha for me.

>>
>>9390569
What this guy said 100%.

There are lots of other good bugs gacha but Bandai blow the competition out of the water, and I never look at those other gacha again, except if they got a much larger size than Bandai's (the Hercules beetle is sadly small).

My only complain is, it's Bandai; they're super predatory to the point my homies call them Bandit.
>>
>>9391908
One problem I have with Bandai is that some of their gasha are only on sale as exclusive (P-Bandai, I think s named this type of release)

I mean, they do look pretty good, but I wish they'd just stick to one definitive series and really fill it the fuck out instead of constantly rebooting and remaking and forcing you to buy the whole damn roster again. Well, I guess Converge is sorta that, it's been around for ages and keeps chuggin along. But they're too small for my tastes, and have no articulation.

Assault Kingdom was the best of them all, I'm still sad they killed it. Universal Unit was like a slightly worse version of AK, and they killed that quickly. And now we have G-Frame, a clumsy, stupid line that forces you to find and buy two boxes to make a single complete figure, has weird proportions and styling, and is just big and pricey enough that you wonder what the fuck you're doing and why you didn't just buy a HG kit instead. It's baffling.
>>
>>9392241
>Assault Kingdom was the best of them all, I'm still sad they killed it. Universal Unit was like a slightly worse version of AK
Were they not very much identical? I thought it was just a rebranding. I have a couple from both lines and they're about the same, quality wise.
>>
>>9392210
>>9392241
Also want to point out that Converge, Gashapon Senshi, and (possibly) Micro Wars are still running. So now we're going to have four SD Gundam lines running concurrently, all at slightly different sizes and levels of articulation. And that's just gacha alone, not even counting the slightly larger and more complex SD kits on the market.

FFS Bandai, just make up your mind and stick with something. At this point I am very afraid they're also going to ditch Cross Silhouette, which is the best SD line since LegendBB.

Assault Kingdom was fully completed figures, you just clipped the hands off sprues. Universal Unit were like little kits, you had to clip a shitload of parts and assemble the main figure. The completed figures were similar, but I thought UU felt a little creakier and crappier to handle.

Sometimes they even sold the same thing on P-Bandit and it's much pricier than normal retail store.

There are other things, such as selling sets but with uneven figure distribution, it's annoying.

They changed the boxed versions to be P-Bandai exclusive.
The Capsules are still going to be released normally.

They also have some P-Bandai exclusives. Recently they have started doing DX versions of normal sets that include exclusive items.
They are also releasing some exclusive characters, weapon sets and face sets on P-Bandai.

They've also been releasing some licensed sets that include a extra face per character if you order on P-Bandai.

Forgive my pic since I am a dumb phone poster but thoughts on the ultimate luminous line from bandai?

I love the detail, don't mind the assembly as fiddly as they are, but they fall apart too easily, I have to cup the char zaku 2 if I have to move him and even then the soles of his feel fall off and the gundam has the added issues of the thrusters being so fragile

What am I to glue these together to they don't crumble, if you did use up is super glue fine or is there something safer?
>>
It's weird they don't do these in America. Imagine if they had a bunch of Gatcha in front of Target? Kids would like them because it has the surprise element
>>
>>9401444
some places in australia do thanks to zing (owned by eb games/gamestop) and nerd shops but unless it's something that's "in" say like demon slayer and shit its a hard sell, especially since they'll do stupid markups just because it's imported unless the shop owners actually know their shit, like the china town anime store owners because they're anime nerds too

If target was selling them not only would they be over priced but the theft would make them want to rethink the investment, a funko pop or beanie baby is a lesser loss

there is also the factor of "everyone is doing it", if shit ain't viral on the news it's gonna sit there much like the hotwheels mario kart toys I keep seeing in my australian mario kart, I swear I shouldn't of been able to hog the box for myself for 20mins going through the box using blind box codes but everyone was more content with the other shit 2 stands away from me, think they were oozies or some gummy ugly shit

Mandarake may offer singles without the need for a proxy. Amazon JP, YJ, Rakuten would also offer singles but you usually need a proxy for those, yes. Sales of singles usually require you to wait until after release.

Also, Bandai Candy Toys are sold in boxes of 10 or 12 but it's not random, they try to stuff the maximum number of full sets into the box, like pic is a box of 10 with an assortment of 5 types so they simply pack two of each.

With Mobility Joint series 1, it's a box of 10 with assortment of 8 so you'll get 2 extras that are also same in every box. Typically it would be the Gundam

The first link in the OP is toysanta that sells non-random singles after release date, other than that just lurk around mandarake after release date and hope it pops up there.
But bandai candy toys are usually fair in assortment, besides, it's gundam; selling the spares are real easy. I would suggest just buying a box and offload the ones you don't need.

>bandai candy toys are usually fair in assortment

What? No, HELL no.
Bandai got the worst unfair assortment compared to other brands.

Shodos and those insect gachas to name a few.
>>
>>9404277
Yeaaah, I've gotten some really bad luck buying those Bandai assortments. Like getting almost all dupes.
>>
>>9405093
Well to make it worse, Bandai assortments are actually not random. Or at least each different retails have different assortment distribution.

I often purchased a whole case of Bandai's candy toys or gacha for gacha machine, and trust me, they're not random at all.

If you got so many dupes of one type, it's not bad luck at all, because it's really on purpose.

Why are there no gashapons outside of Japan?

Like most of them aren't even anime/too weird shit and should appeal to the public, so why are we left with bubble gum & plastic rings for a dime?

Like I said in an earlier thread, there are gacha (even in licensed Tomy machines) all over in California, but the catch is they only carry very safe, boring normie sets that are virtually never desirable. You will never find any cool or interesting shit in these.

Gamestop has also recently installed gacha machines and are selling some relatively cool and current gacha (like Exceed Zaku heads).

Haven't stumbled into a GameStop carrying one but hoping the best for it spreading further.

But why can't we afford to carry non-normie stuff in those? Why exactly would white people reject something like a bread gashapon? It's just 1-5€ after all.
>>
>>9450221
Gashapon is an established and well-understood trend in Japan, and has enough fans and regular buyers to sustain itself. I work retail in the US and I can just hear the moronic customers now.

"But why bread?"
"That's so random."
"I don't want a frickin bread on my keys."
"I can't even read any of this shit!"
"$4 is too expensive, maybe if it were $1."

You'll probably get a few curious bites, but by and large something like this would crash and burn. The US is too stupid to handle such esoteric themes.
>>
>>9450241
Oh, and that's even before you get parents complaining about the random pulls. I sell some blindboxes at my job and you WILL get people complaining that they didn't get what they wanted, even if they knew full well going into it that it was a mystery pull.
>>
>>9450241
yea you'd have to sell it has a hip quirky ironic dumb fuck WWE or Mario branded mini bread series or give it an angry face like what happened with the box art for kirby releases

Is there some die hard fan with a youtube channel/website scouting locations for vending machines? Or any means of finding out about where even the simplest of dispensers are located?
>>
>>9450299
>I've yet to see someone try to set one up and fail hard.
Probably because anyone who knows enough about gachapon and has enough money to fund such a thing also has enough common sense to read the market and know it would be a huge waste of time and money.

Hey, I’ve got some complete noob questions that I hope y’all can answer.

Are Desktop Army and Aqua Shooters figures the same size?

What is a reasonable price to pay for an Aqua Shooters figure shipped to the US?
>>
>>9459313
Are there any more shots of this display? I assume that creature at the front is that translucent figure from that video. I'd love that. But what are the rest of those (aside from the 'angels' at the top).

What a cool line, I'm really liking what these guys are doing. I hope these aren't hard to get a hold of.

Guys... what is wrong with Bandai's Gashapon division that they made this for 19800 yen...? 2 near statues, both around 20cm, with what looks like less than impressive paint and sculpt. How did this happen and why is it happening?
>>
>>9473059
Guess it's like the Candy Toys division branching out into straight-up plamo. Would be funny if they had to squeeze their premium shit into gashapon balls like Bandai Candy throwing in a piece of gum in the box.
>>
>>9473059
God, thats like a $15 tier figurine. Videogame collector's edition pack-in looking shit
>>
>>9473113
But they also did those Warhammer figures which, while expensive, were decent. These at double the price of that original marine makes me wonder if they're carved out of a precious mineral.
>>
>>9473059
You should've known by now how predatory Bandai is, I'm not surprised at all, their items are all overpriced as hell which is a shame since lots of their line are great.

Anyway they look like shit alright but you sure they're made by the gashapon division?

A little disappointing that this only comes with one of each of the new beetlebois when the last set already had 3 hunkulese beetles
>>
>>9478551
i really wish this were like the other beetle releases where the volume’s options are all differen than the last volume’s. instead this is more like the turtle series now where 3 out of 5 are old sculpts repainted slightly different and the new ones are just the 2.

An interesting read about how the gashapon toys make profit.

tl;dr
The Robot Concerto line sold well but didn't make profit, it was too expensive to produce for the 500yen limit.
>>
>>9479179
At least the beetle line retools the sculpts, the Hercules has different horn pattern than before, the only straight repaint is the Yamato/Japanese rhino beetle.
>>
>>9480823
>https://gashapon.jp/blog/?p=12834
Gonna give this a read, thanks for sharing.

Without yet having read, makes me wonder how lines like >>9459329 or Shodo make a profit. I know the latter is also a candy toy and not gashapon, but both lines (among others like the articulated insects/lizards/other animals) seem so far ahead of anything else out there for 500yen that it's a wonder they're able to hit those prices and keep going strong.
>>
>>9481392
One of the reasons why Gachapon and Candy Toys are made in waves and assortments is because the costs are spread out per case. You'd have some items that are >500, some <500 and they balance each other out. Having retools, repaints and repeats in a case also helps lowers the cost.
>>
>>9481425
I'd have to assume the brunt of the profit comes simply from volume. All the Shodo Pokemon are all new molds, for example, and so were the Shodo Digimon. But they were also both smaller than the Shodo Riders, perhaps because there's minimal opportunity for molding re-use. Still, lots of new molds and hitting those cheap prices is quite the feat. Comparatively, the Shodo Digimon are going to be produced again by BOA for $15usd each compared to 900yen, I would think because of the much smaller volume of product. Or perhaps just greedy, idk. Either way, I'm all for it. These companies are working their magic and getting great products out at low prices.
