I honestly kind of hate JP for how successful it is. Much like Jaws, we owe all these fun dinosaur/shark/monster flicks to its very existence. But they're both so big now that they overshadow all the competition and thus anything new or interesting that could be done with these concepts. Dinosaurs Attacks and kaiju shit > JP

What did you pledge? You are either getting a 1/18 or 1/35 Scale Trex or a combination in the available colors. Check out an available Raptor or Ceratopsian from the previous releases. The Ceratopsians are really nice and a good indication of what the paint and quality of the Rexes will be.
>>
>>9338654
They always look better in person, but still.

How can Mattel look at the stuff McFarlane and Hasbro are doing at the same price point and think that these are okay? The humans have somehow regressed. I really don't know what their problem is since some look good and some look like shit. Do they have a down syndrome artist that did Grant, Ellie, and Owen?
>>
>>9338899
Mattel's always had this problem, their DC line was plagued not only with inconsistent quality, but inconsistent size. Towards the end they put out an Alfred that's taller than most of their Batman figures, for example.
>>
>>9337759
Where did you get that Spas-12?
>>
>>9338654
That's it, I'm washing my hands of this line. Not gonna settle for mediocrity since it's the only option. Maybe if they make another dino that doesn't look awful I'll pick it up, but the humans are a fucking disaster.

All of the Amber and Legacy dinos look good.

The humans though are a massive disappointment. I'm pretty sure they're literally just upscaled versions of the 3 inch ones with mattel not taking in to account the upscale needs more paint and detail added.
>>
>>9342653

Not a action figure, but NECA did a pretty decent Compy. Looks 1:1 like the movie prop, but sadly not 1:1 scale, but i always pretend its a juvenile.

Mattel sucks worse than Hasbro with there paint all Hasbro gets remembered for is the mess in 2015 but before that they had better figures than Mattel has bothered to scape together in the past 3 years, this line is trash!
>>
>>9339732

yeah, anything that isn't related to the first movie - because god knows they won't do legacy for TLW/JP3 gets a pass. JW is dogshit from top to bottom, so I have no issues skipping on things from those movies whatsoever
>>
>>9345884

Sorry, my bad, i meant PAPO, not NECA.

Papo makes relatively good Dinos, better than Schleich and other shit. Some of their sculpts look almost 1:1 like the Stan Winston models.
I have one of their Compys in my Whites Tree Frog tank and visitors already thought it was a real little dinosaur.
>>
>>9346359
I wonder why Hasbro didn't give the franchise the same treatment they have all their others. They rolled out collectors figures for Ghostbusters when the market has been oversaturated with those for years, but hardly did anything for Jurassic.

My only idea is that they thought the fanbase wasn't big enough to warrant it.
>>
>>9348537
Mainly because they lost the Jurassic license by the time they started doing stuff like Plasma Series for Ghostbusters. Back then they just had Marvel Legends and even Star Wars Black Series was just barely getting started.
>>
>>9339330
>>9342616
Not that anon who posted the picture, but I think that picture is from collect jurassic's collection. He said in an podcast interview with victoria's cantina that you can find weapons packs in this scale at five below stores for a decent price. I'm gonna look myself.

Start at the 01:03:06 timestamp, around 01:03:37 he shows it. Hope that helps.

Jurassic Park version of TJ Omega here. Time for another exclusive review just for /toy/.

This thing is just awkward. It's legs are really spindly nd its arms are way too thick. I'm pretty sure there's a wire in the tail but I'm not testing it because I don't want the soft rubber to crack. No joint behind the head so has limited posability, the entire neck has to move along with the head. The paint job isn't good. Obviously way more green than in the movie. They couldn't even be bothered to make the nails a different color.

Here's scale compression. I think it looks okay with both individually. Probably no way for Malcolm to hold it like he did in the movie because its too big. The compie is a piece of shit that is impossible to make stand. Overall I think that it is a fairly poor representation of the the baby rex.

well that's because there's not too much to talk about that's Jurassic-related right now

general Dino stuff goes in the Dinosaur thread where there's the ongoing Tyrannosaur kickstarter

Saw reveiws for the Muldoon seem alright close to accurate Grant nope nada messed up face but the glasses can help hide it if you still want it.
>>
>>9379065
>>9379067
The faces are so inconsistent, some of them seem like they have some faceprinting, and some of them seem like they're just straight painted

This is the laziest shit. Their cheapo WWE figures have better faceprints. Glad I cancelled my preorders.
>>

Hear me out. What if Hasbro didn’t lose the license? They’re doing really good with their 6in lines with Marvel, Star Wars, Ghostbusters and Power Rangers. What if they still had the Jurassic License I guarantee it would be at least marginally higher quality. Another thing is that Hasbro is doing retro Kenner lines where they retool the old molds with Star Wars and even Marvel now. What if we could’ve had that with Jurassic if we just gave them more time to fix their shit?
>>
>>9382006
People hated Hasbro back when they had it. They never did jackshit with the license and I doubt they ever would have made anything remotely close to as good as some of the amber/legacy dinos are.

Mattel really makes no sense because on release will be killer but another will look like dogshit. I want to think some of it was rushed out, but we know they've been in the pipeline for 2 years now.
>>
>>9382105
Personally I think Mattel's biggest problem is how often they just put out repaints. Their attack pack/basic line sculpts for most dinos are decent for the price but those first two preposed raptors need to be retired, stop using those terrible sculpts.
>>
>>9384428

Not only those two, but Mattel needs to actually make new sculpts in general. Troodon is a stretched out raptor, as is Therinzino and Ornitholestes. Even the fucking compies look like Raptors

Is there a way to safely remove the neck and the tail on the Legacy brachiosaurus? I want to put it back in the box, but they aren't budging.
>>
>>9386624
Nope. Just like the tails on most of the larger carnivores, they're not designed to be removed.
>>
>>9386659
Goddammit.
>>
>>9386624
>>9386659
>>9386780
I can't guarantee it'll work but you could try

>soak in hot water/use a hair dryer on the base of the neck/tail where it connects until the plastic is a little soft
>twist
>stick a very thin screwdriver into the gap
>slowly slide the screwdriver in
>they should pull out when gap is wide enough

you have to be very delicate about it
>>
Just got my JP3 raptor in. This is my first Amber Collection figure, do they usually have loose joints and dried-up glue on them?
>>
>>9388375
I don't have any of the Amber Collection figures, but I know you're not the only one to have quality control issues with the line.
>>
>>9388375
Yes. It can be a crapshoot on the joints, but I've had some with glue mess or mispainted parts.
>>
>>9390657
>>9388375
Bought 3 Amber Nedry figures 2 had misprint Jurassic park logo's.

I guess I won't be buying any more then. It also had a large unpainted pink patch on the teeth and it's right foot was literally splitting apart at the seams.
>>
>>9391135
Any time I've contacted Mattel they've give me my money back. I've got Muldoon, Grant, and JP/// raptor coming this week, I will report my findings.

The Amber Collection stuff didn't used to be like this though. It probably started going downhill with Ray Arnold/Dimorhodons. Ever since there's been major problems with all of them.

Its meant to resemble the original catalogue advertisement image used for the Dino riders Rex but was never seen on the final product. Its something Silva wanted to remedy w this line.

I had to get a second Blu from bbts when the first one they sent had a stuck claw that broke and a messed up eye.

If I plunk down $30 or whatever for the smallest dino before Friday will I still be able to buy the KS exclusive rexes in the backer kit?
>>
>>9391503
I think so, yes. Just have to add it on after.
>>
>>9391503
yes and hopefully backer kit will remain open for several after so we can finalize our list of items

I bought one and the ID card tampo was squished. Initiated a return and the second one had something wrong with the coat. So I had to take the coat off the first one and put it on the second one to get a semi decent Nedry.

Yeah that doesn't surprise me. Like I'd said, I've had some weird eye issues on the raptors.

So when are Grant and Muldoon supposed to start hitting stores?
>>
First time seeing Hammond in the wild. Is his suit supposed to look grimy?
>>
>>9402822

Sadly. That’s Mattel’s job at “adding detail.” However you can easily remove the grime
