That scale is such a non factor is so annoying. If ever there was a RED Dinobot or Megatron it just wouldn't look right at the same height as Primal. No mace is also a pretty big wtf, but that he has his shoulder cannons and wrist guns are a huge plus to me. I think he'll be my first RED.

>>9181241
At this point we should all be used to a Hasbro product shot for a real product and not a render having something wrong with them, whether that's being mistransformed or something bent up. Either way, warm water or hot air should do the trick so that's a non-issue.

Except it isn't, messing with my Primal right now.
the basic points are the same, shoulder, bicep, elbow, wrists for arms, but Kingdom has fingers, sure as one thing but fingers, but RED goes for hands
Only notable thing there is RED's arm bend is a cleaner because they added a floating elbow cap thing, so he doesn't get his famous no elbow elbow.
Legs are basically the same from what I can see, waist is obviously the same.
Feet wise he doesn't seem different from the Kingdom version at all, infact, he might miss the toejoint Kingdom has.
So really they're basically the same articulationwise.

This is literally just the same as the Kingdom one except it can't transform though? The Kingdom one has all the same features, including the arm and shoulder cannons. And why would the supposedly screen accurate RED one need swords, which he never used in the show?

These are as much as Deluxes so I don't see why anyone wouldn't just buy the Kingdom one. The Cheetors are already shelfwarming everywhere and I can't see this one doing any better.

The sculptor for RED Primal posted the sculpt. It's not his fault that this line is shit so be nice but you can probably ask him some questions
>>
>>9181270
>Does the Kingdom one have double elbows and knees?
with how his elbow works it's a single join that gets full range of motion.
Knees go to like 90 degrees, but can go deeper if you're willing to untab some things.

>>9181399
gonna say, not a bad sculpt at all. kist weird that like Cheetor it's not the cartoon model, which is the point of RED, cartoon accurate action figures.

That said, Primal is closer than cheetor, it's just the fur that really stands out.
>>
>>9181405
He was apparently only head for a little bit and Warden's last move was putting him on GI Joe.

Considering his primary job has been shitty roleplay toys over on a dead brand and a few highly divisive Transformers, we may have dodged a bullet.
>>
>>9181416
I don't think the problem with RED has ever been the sculpts. This is a fine Primal in a vacuum but we literally have a version of the same character on shelves right now that looks exactly the same except it can transform.
>>
>>9181305
When’s that? I swear to god, I am literally gagging for new info
>>
>>9181425
Yeah, I could understand if they released him after Kingdom because even though Primal will be easy to find it still makes sense.
This is just gonna lead to massive confusion at Walmart, considering there is the Regular, Netflix and RED figure out at once, probably next to each other.
>>
This little fucker is much more durable than I gave him credit for. I accidentally dropped a China plate on him when I tripped, plate shatters into 2, sends him 3 feet across the room and he’s fine
>>
>>9181416
The sculpts in general have been great. I just wonder how much of an audience the line has. I feel like kids just want Transformers to be Transformers and adults can get the myriad merch out there (figures/statues and otherwise) if they're Transformers fans that don't care about the toylines that much anymore.
>>
>>9181418
That must really fucking sting, you're doing such a shit job as head of Hasbros flagship action figure line you get booted by the previous one.

Also if he's gone I don't see RED continuing after like one more wave, unless it somehow sells gangbusters, which I doubt.

Kingdom Rhinox, Scorponok and I think Waspinator.
Unlike all the previous Maximal figures which people pretty universally loved people either really don't like them, or are mostly lukewarm on them.

Rhinox in particular made the aftermarket price for the T30 version skyrocket.
>>
>>9181443

Also holy shit, not even any paint damage? no scratches?
>>
>>9181460
>which people pretty universally loved
I dunno, man. Cheetor's reception was always lukewarm it seemed to me and I'm not sure I've seen anyone defend Dinobot's raptor mode. I personally have found just about all of the BW stuff underwhelming so far, for one reason or another. Rhinox might be the worst but Scorponok seems par for the course.
>>
>>9181474
well I am a bit biased because I like Cheetor, and people mostly dislike Dinobot's raptor eyes and hands, the rest of the figure most fucking love.

Point is even if people had issues they were minor, Rhinox and Scorponok are not only a visible step down in quality, but they just feel like they had different people working on them.
Like compare Airrazor and those two, or even Dinobot or Primal, it just looks worse.
>>
>>9181482

>>9181490
2 new RED figures got new images today, were talked about briefly, and then they're back to talking about regular Transformers, and you still post this shit? Fuck off you dumb anon.
>>
>>9181486
my point is even if figures had issues people overall liked them.
Very few people seem to actually like Rhinox and some are just picking him up for the sake of having a Rhinox, not because he's good.
And people just constantly rag on Scorponok because both his modes are boxy and kinda shit.
Dinobots Raptor mode may not be great but it's still decent and his robot mode more than makes up for it.

He has done designs now and then for Transformers but the list we have of things he's done were all not very good. He's been on GI Joe doing kiddy roleplay toys for the movie. The weird thing was he was announced to be taking over Transformers multiple times - he even did the big sendoff of Warden in a passing-of-the-torch stream, and only now do we hear that he's quietly being replaced.

People are saying he led for the first part of next years line but I really don't buy it, since that means the reigns would have been passed last year when Warden was winding down Kingdom, and they waited until they announced him taking over to replace him. Unless next year's product is a huge dumpster fire and Hasbro is scrambling to shuffle him off the line to pick up the pieces before release.
>>
Finally found a Thrilling 30 Primal for less than $70, has no guns but I figure those third party replacements could work, got prepared to deal with the useless loose knees when it showed up.

It showed up today, and the knees aren't useless at all. They hold up perfectly fine. What gives?

They typically have the first half of year planned out and designed but the later stages are still being worked out. At this point all of next year is locked in and we will start to see listings leaked out in the fall. Given the heavy presence of Prime characters (Lenny’s first TF series) I’d say he was probably there for most of the planning but mark maybe moving things around or switching up the later half of the year. That being said I don’t thing Lenny was moved because his work on TF has been a dumpster fire. He’s had his attention split between TF and GI joe, and Joe really need the attention right now.

>>
>>9181768
I can see those breaking. The car mode is a bit of a mess, like everything that needs to connect together is positioned half a millimeter off. Main culprit is the yellow joint on the roof of the car, it's pinned in a way that makes the red piece with the spoiler not sit perfectly flush when compared to the windscreen piece. I love the figure and the robot mode is perfect, but measurements are just a bit out of wack but throws everything off in vehicle mode.

>What's wrong with it?
To be clear, I don't own it either, so there are some things I can't remark on. And I don't think anything too egregious is wrong with it. But it's a lot of small (or small-ish) things that add up and make me underwhelmed.

Despite having an example in SS86 Hot Rod itself (which Rodimus does borrow from) we still somehow have a Rodimus with both a somewhat awkward independent car and an awkward car+trailer. It's not like the transformation is anything wild, or like it has to juggle a disruptive premise like the POTP one does. Some of the accessories are nice to have and it's nice that the trailer is of a better stock than what we've had lately for Optimus, but for an $80 figure in a near-literal class of its own there are some compromises I don't know were necessary. It hits with more swings than it misses, but it was a much closer ballgame than I think it should've been, so to speak. YMMV.

Entirely new cast of characters (and 0 name reuses) with interesting rarely/never used vehicle modes.

Animated in japan.
>>
>>9182089
Wanna move away from standard size and price ranges too?
>>
>>9182078
Show I don't really know, probably focus on a small inexperienced group exploring space with a more expansive cast of side characters. And also make the bad guys more intimidating, I liked how Animated did it by having the decepticons be so much more powerful than the Autobots. It was a big deal when they actually showed up, So I would probably just copy that.
Toyline would be a very big focus. Too many Transformers series feel like the designers just drew a cool robot without actually thinking about how it would work as a toy, So I'd have the character designers and toy designers work really closely together, or even design characters as toys first and just adapting them into the character. The toys would have a big focus on interesting transformations, altmodes, and articulation, at least at the same level as current stuff.
A few gimmicks might appear, like headmasters or minicons, but no one gimmick should comprise the entire toyline. I'd like to have maybe one or two nonstandard combiners, three-member, or maybe even SYMMETRICAL DOCKING because I'm fucking tired of scramble city geewunn guys and partsforming combiners.

Season 1 would be about the autobots trying to defeat the decepticon's newest weapon, an infinite army of seeker clone with full power. The main cast is a team of autobots trying to find the 'con being cloned, so they can stop the army, this cast is comprised of Deepdive (design is essentially a G1 version of the RTS figure) the leader, Rhinox, Electro, Bumblebee, Hotrod, Redalert, and a transformer who turns into an AE-86 whos name I haven't decided yet. The setting is spread across earth and the moon. The decepticon who's been cloned is secretly a G2 styled Blackout. The first season ends with the autobot team killing Blackout, but also losing Deepdive. Season 2 follows the same team trying to keep hold of a powerful weapon, the nemesis' transformation cog. Deepdive "comes back" with a new body, but is secretly Blackout with a new body (a bit like a G1 version of the Bayverse design but different), trying to steal the transformation cog. The setting is in the desert of Nevada. The new villain team with the same goal as Blackout are comprised of Motormaster, Dragstrip, Deadend, Wildrider, Breakdown, Pyke (who turns into a Thrust SCC, the boosters become the shoulders, he's skinny so his limbs fold away quite simply, the front of his altmode becomes a lance, and he has a knight aesthetic), and a team of two who turn into a motor-bike with a sidecar. Another villain would Straxus, who is the main villain of a season wide B-plot on Cybertron following the wreckers and blaster with his tapes. Season 2 would end with Blackout now being VERY dead, but with an autobot reprogrammed seeker stealing the cog and selling it to swindle. Season 3 now has a much bigger cast with Optimus Prime, trying to turn autobot city into Metroplex, while the decepticons with Megatron, making additions to the nemesis, so it can transform to Trypticon. Season 3 ends with Trypticon and Metroplex fighting, and Optimus Prime and Megatron dying... for now. That's all I'm doing tonight.

Season 1 is the Autobots and Decepticons going to earth
And the toy line starts with the basic characters you’d need or want
But maybe make the Seekers smaller flying vehicles so then you can sell a lot of recolors for army building
Season 2 is more Cybertron based and space related in general
With some characters from 86 and would introduce some characters that will have influence in the next season
Like how animated had team CHAAR with Cyclonus and some Beast wars characters
Season 3 involves Time Travel and has Beast Wars Characters and characters like Galvatron show up from the future
But they eventually go to the past
Someone from the future does and then creates a worm hole like in the old Marvel comics and then they have to get rid of Galvatron and Cybertron returns to relative peace

I’m basically just copying TFA for the story because that’s my favorite version of Transformers but the toy line would be more like the WFC trilogy line
I personally think these are the best figures so far

Give it a revisit if you haven't in a while. I thought S3 to be dark, drab, and weak, but I happened to end up streaming some rando eps for friends and they were all bangers. It's not as bright or necessarily memorable as some S1/S2 episodes, but there's some underrated moments. The Big Broadcast of 2006 has uh, not-as-mentioned but still insane scenes for Galvatron.
>>
>>9182376
I rewatched a couple episodes back in February, I mostly remember things I didn't like about it, like Rodimus' disinterest in everything, Grimlock's flanderization, Daniel being too involved in everything and Galvatron's lunacy. All that's without the garbage quality animation too.

I stopped before the singing one, I couldn't sit through that one again.

Nimoy was great, shame he never got to reprise his role as the Mad Tyrant. It would’ve been a dream come true to see a Welker Megatron fight a Nimoy Galvatron on the big screen before the two schizos clue in and decide to kill everyone else then resume their melee.

>Rodimus' disinterest in everything
>wasn't rooting for him all the time, and finding his growth and sometimes reluctance about the Burden interesting
Ok, let's agree to disagree on the first part.
>flanderization
He's a bit good-natured since the movies, yeah, albeit a bit like a baby. But maybe consider that to be just his relative maturity as a person as well as friendship/fondness with Rod? Hot Rod called him a bozo and literally tard-wrangled him with a lasso in the movie I think, and was literally BEGGING Rodimus to wake up in the 5-parter when he was half-dead. So while Grimlock was made in the middle of Optimus' tenure, maybe Hot Rod sort of proved himself to Grimlock... who also turned into a baby. Just trying to give positive but plausible spins on things.
>Daniel being too involved in everything
I still haven't watched all of season 3, so aside from him and Wheelie destroying an Autobot mausoleum, thought the humans were generally helpful? Watching some S2 eps I noticed how Spike was actually pretty helpful most of the time.
>Galvatron's lunacy

Oh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I don't see what the big deal is about the new Takara "lines". Lipstick on a pig doesn't change the fact that it's a pig, ya know? I've half a mind to buy his figure just to give him some love. He's not my fave and I'm currently indifferent about both his modes (subject to change), but no one deserves this. I don't think he died in Marvel, but in UK he DID get stuck in limbo for two years, trapped in some unseen nightmare, while Galvatron ran amok (and about) all the while.
Hope he gets more love, for people who own him as well as for people who write/draw him. Fuck. I might go out of my way to love him if his figure comes out.

Never forget when hasbro tried selling literal upscaled KOs of legends figures at the tail end of Beast Hunters, without any articulation improvements at all. I may not like ER Starscream personally, but it at least improved on the older Classics design. If pic related had any sort of basic articulation like Elbows or knees, it wouldn't be so bad, maybe a good base for an RiD Filch custom or something, but instead its a stiff plastic pile of sadness and disappointment. Even the worst of POTP, the worst line in the last few years, is still better than this

I knew it was some sort of European exclusive, didn't know about the different price points though. I was mostly bringing it up as a pretty extreme example that, no matter how much you may like or dislike the current state of TF, we're still far beyond the worst the brand has been compared to the likes of FOC or the AOE toylines. Even then though, there's still a few gems that shine through in the worst lines.
>Random note this is why people shouldn't mock others length in the "fandom" because there is always something to learn.
That's a big part of what draws me to TF, there really is a shitload of weird or obscure stuff out there. I keep stumbling on obscure repaints or licensed figures, like those Sports Label figures or the Bearbricks. I really need to track down some of those. My non-TF fan frens always get a kick when I show them some of the goofier stuff I find
>>
>>9183037
Fine I guess what I meant as recognition was making new molds for the at least a third of the season 1 cast as recognition, as opposed to reissues, Optimus Primals and Megatrons, and five actual new molds of other characters from season 1.

It gets all subjective really fast however. Case in point, I can draw from much more massively produced shit that was over priced and cheaply made Transformers from 2014 onward.

Other subjective issue can be on amount of product produced, amount quality control issues in the line, or even just the gimmicks. It's fine to enjoy what you like but let's not get too passionate into this kind of shit.

How about a more fair comparison: FOC, Generations, same as WFC trilogy(I really hate that they reused the name, makes talking about it so much more confusing than it needs to be). I'd say that objectively just about anything from that line would be worse than modern figures in terms of design, articulation, and build quality. It just wasn't a good time for the brand. There was still good stuff though, I like a lot of figures from that general era, but FOC leading up to AOE had a lot of crap
>pic related, I kinda like FOC Shockwave but he isn't very good
>>
>>9183146
Not to say WFC has been perfect, ER really didn't click with me and had a lot of patterns that bug the shit out of me. And I think ERcee might be one of the worst transformers ever made. Still had a few good figures though. Like you said, taste is really subjective, and different people value different things in a toy. I'm just trying to say, things could be and have been worse. I mean Transformers almost fucking died in the 90s.
Am I getting too passionate? Sorry if it seems like it. I just kinda like talking about toys and don't know how to summarize. The point I was trying to put across is that I think things could always be worse, and there can be some sort of value extracted even from some of those worse areas. although I might have not gotten that across very well. I try not to take stuff too seriously, everyone likes different stuff and I try to understand why someone might like or dislike something I don't

That being said, T30 has better paint since it adds Black to the color scheme that helps to break up the pink and white, and T30 has better weapons.

Yeah at first I thought it was already yellowing but they painted it like that. Oh and hey, he has the gut gun.

It looks pretty good actually, looking at that comparison with the MP in bot mode he's quite accurate. I don't like the paws in Tiger mode though, Tigers have bigger paws than that.
>>
>>9183710
White tigers/polar bears/literally any purely white animal that hangs out in wild enviroment often have a certain dirty dusty tint at the end of their fur, due to naturally dirtying themselves up.

Should Rattrap have been a small deluxe like Cliffjumper
>>
>>9183787
It's surprisingly rare to see all the beast wars cast together for scale shots. Don't know if that was just happenstance or the super toasters could take it
>>
>>9183195
Do you mean the DS game?
>>
>>9183780
I imagine it's more that the hind legs had to still fit in his robot shins so they couldn't make them much wider.
>>
>>9183780
well if im the designer i'll just leave it hanging vertically, but keep the tab for people who wants it crossed
>>
>>9183794
From what I have calculated myself, Rattrap's size is more or less fine, the real problem is that they made Blackarachnia fucking huge, she should've been only a little bit taller than Rattrap.

But like, Terrorsaur will be a Airrazor retool, so Predacons will have bad scale too
>>
>>9183473
They won't believe it, "he's" a boogie man now.
>>
>>9183741
I was a few years too young for actual Beast Wars toys, but these guys really appeal to nostalgia to the various animal toys I had as a little kid with texture molded into them. Especially the lightly articulated set of father, mother, and child of various zoo animals like gorilla, elephant, lion, and tiger. Poison Dart Frog and Crocodile when?
>>
>>9183797

You're both right. Rattrap should've been a small Deluxe, but Blackarachnia -is- too fucking big. Both of them are the ones fucking the scale.
>>
>>9183861
I honestly prefer Rattrap's Core-size than if he were a deluxe. I know it's not show-accurate but it does feel "right" to have a rat character be smaller.

A Transmetal Rattrap though? Better be Deluxe. Core would be too small to ride for Dinobot.
>>
>>9183861
Scale is a funny thing. Like the size of the characters in the show and in the original toys were way different (Scorponok and TMII probably being the biggest examples being Mega-class in toys but tiny in the show).

I mean his original toy and character model was a repaint and the Masterpiece borrowed a lot of engineering from MP Cheetor. It’d be stranger if he WASN’T an upscaled deluxe with extra engineering due to size class and differences between tigers and cheetahs.
>>
>>9184009

I'm struggling to think of any shared engineering between the two. Can't be more than a few shared, robot mode only, parts.
