Transformers Animated Rodimus Minor

Maybe the first actually good toy of the character, depending on how you feel about Energon.

A sleek sci-fi space car like you'd expect. In a deep, non-burgundy, red.
In a twist Animated Rodimus' toy is lighter than it should be opposed to most Rodimus toys being too dark.

The car holds together well, almost too well and rolls along nicely. Sham I took a picture at the perfect angle to show a gap in the windshield that is non existent for any other viewpoint.
The spoiler is the real eye catcher as it always is. Although Animated wears it slightly more subdued than most Rodimi I feel.

Everything slides into place all snugly and Animated Rodimus looks alright all stood up.

Thin waist on him like a lot of Hot Rods but his oversized sweater of a car hood hides it better than MP-28.
SS86 Hot Rod manages to avoid that, as you can see on the toy that I own.

A minor thing is that he trades out the silver Auto-badge in vehicle mode that Animated Autobots sported for a traditional red one.
Never been a fan of his somewhat gaunt face. But I can live with it.

Rodimus balances a lot better than I though he would.
Ball ankles definitely help but this is the sort of thing a lot of toys would need a toe joint for.
I can say the shoulders don't feel good. The way they're jointed is just so uncooperative.
Legs do feel good. It's been a few days since I've got to play with a toy with hips, thighs, knees and ankles.

The double bow was a pretty unique choice for Rodimus. Maybe more unique even than choosing to not have his exhausts swivel around.

I'm gonna list off some complaints just to spite >>9085837

The tusks on her head limit how much you can turn it, limiting an otherwise really well articulated head for a figure of her size.

The tail parts forms. You can put her in robot mode with it still attached but it's pretty long and she ends up on her tippy toes. Luckily there's a spot to store it in robot mode on her back so you dont lose it.

Painted rubber parts. I have concerns about the longevity of this toy, and when I first got mine her jaw was so tight I thought I was going to tear it off before it would open. Ended up taking a hairdryer to her to get it to budge.

So there you go. If you just want a fun little robotsaurus to fiddle with, sure, get her, but if you hate partsforming and rubber parts? Get her anyway. She's super charming and if you dont like her at least she's cheap

>>
>>9086201
Y'know, obvious mistransformation aside, he doesn't look too bad, actually. Scores better than Rhinox and Scorponok, anyway. I missed theT30, so this one should do just fine. He needs his BFF Terrorsaur, though; poor guy's life really went to hell after he died.
>>
>>9086556
Honestly, the only real issue at the moment are the arms below the elbow, they're way too thin, and looking at the transformation, they might have been able to make them a bit wider.
>>
>>9086405
Mine's had the problem of the tail getting stuck in either the beast mode slot or her hands. Makes me not ever want to remove it since it feels like the knob is just gonna tear off the next time I do it. Probably just overthinking but it really does suck. Doesn't help that it's a nothing weapon, even for a beastformer. Would've just taken one pin joint on the thing to make it interesting and work as a sword, or just make the end of the tail the handle and the base of it a mace or something that stores inside the torso in beast mode.
>>
>>9086201

amazing.. I wonder if the old toys hold up still joint-wise
>>
>>9086714
A lot of people are intimidated by that horse because of his transformation, but it's really not that bad if you know how to do it. What makes it hard is that it's not at all intuitive where everything needs to go, but if you know where it needs to go going in then the toy complies and doesn't try to fight you every step of the way like a lot of figures do nowadays.
>>
I looked it up and the 2 horses got in the colored horse crossover because of course they did.

I need to track him and the snake down one day I have most of the BWneo original molds but never got those two for some reason.
>>
>>9086726
I can't believe they didn't make any crossover mech for that series, would have been crazy some shit like pony transformers? that would be cool

Its unlikely that they would do a remake of battle unicorn or mach kick isn't it? even with the new beast wars stuff they seem to obscure for a remake
>>
>>9086746
>even with the new beast wars stuff they seem to obscure for a remake

Yeah probably but if an easy repaint can happy they'll probably do it. We just got Beast Wars Neo God Neptune and Skywarp (Japanese version of American Magnaboss Silverbolt, not even just a name thing ours has a white head not silver) Maaaaybe a Leo Prime will happen but that's probably even too much wishful thinking right now.
>>
>>9086755

So do you replace a figure when a newer version, better or worse, comes out? Or do you have both versions hang out like Optimus Prime from Earths 1 - X?
>>
>>9087071
You mean the slots in the middle? That's where you plug in the 2 long guns.
>>
>>9087107
Depends. I don't replace, but I'll be willing to buy another rendition of that character if the new toy is notably different. I have plenty of Generation toys that weren't faithful to the cartoon model, so I still like those and don't mind getting new one. On the other hand, now that many toys are going for cartoon look or as close to their G1 look, I don't get them if they're not almost perfect.

In the event I'm happy with the current mold and they release a new version, I might grab it if it gets recolored into something I like.
>>
>>9087110
I meant the block in the cockpit. You can take it out and it has a peg below it. It's just weird that it has that, so I feel like it's suppose to peg somewhere when you take it out of the cockpit.

>>9087121
Jetfire has seats for Titanmasters in the cockpit and backpack. That block is essentially a filler piece.

I figured that he'd be comfier to hug since there's no scratchy squares of velcro on the outside. Cuddleability is important in a stuffed toy!
>>
>>9087237

I'd be cool with this only if they call that version of him "Volkswagen"
>>
>>9087107
I have a small collection of displaced toys, and it's been growing recently as I've bought SS86 stuff. RTS Jazz, Generations Kup, RTS Perceptor, Classics Cyclonus etc. I like having some of the older stuff though, Classics Octane was always cool to me even though I've got a better one from Titans Return now. Nerf gun Megatron has long-since been cycled off my main shelf but I'm never parting with that thing, he's great.
>>
>>9087254
I own both. Siege looks good on the shelf I guess, but its badly put together. Especially for that price.
T30 has some scummy metalic paint on accessories, but is overal in my opinion a better figure.
Also depends on what look you like better. Im partial to the updated valkyrie look of T30. And siege Jetfire is a bit big for no reason.
>>
>>9087254

Both have optional armor upgrades, both look good.

>T30
Cons
-Lacks some basic articulation like waist, wrist and ankle rotation.
- Plastic can feel a bit cheap and he has big hollow gaps on his limbs.
-Chrome paint will chip, be careful with his torso hinge.
Pros
- Sleek altmode.
- Not fugg huge.
- Clean deco.
- G1 toy homage

>Siege
Cons
- Hes huge, as big as a combiner.
- Heavy on greeble detail.
- "snow stains" paint on his legs.
Pros
- Tons of articulation.
- Handles to carry bots under him.
- Working cockpit.
- Effect parts
- Cartoon accuracy

Kingdom actually looks like a bootleg due to the dayglo colours and the insect legs/antennae. Only thing I think it has is the Legends paintjob on the head and the ability to put the wings up as it doesn't have the flap gimmick the T30 had. Easy of a pass as Rhinox. Honestly making me worried for an eventual Tarantulas but I guess there's no prior figure to do worse, besides the original 1996 toy.

I have an inexplicable desire to see a version of Waspinator who’s unkillableness is played straight/as badass instead of as comedy.
Where he’s just this an unstoppable determinator who refuses to give up or stop whatever mission he’s on, no matter how much he’s stabbed, crushed, blown-up, or dismembered in the process. He just keeps on going with a single minded focus and unwavering tenacity. No matter how many times someone (seemingly) kills him, eventually he’ll somehow be back to try again.

Based Kingdom enjoyer. Waspy looks like it'll be a lot more fun to play with than T30, if only based on having knees that bend more than 45°. Why? Because I don't want to mess with a figure with no waist, less than 90 degree knees and a shoulder transformation destined to break? Waspinator in WFC doesn't convince me. The color palet. The "hollowness" in some parts of the figure. The articulations. Looks really weak to me. While the rest of the predacon look good, the arms just do not fit with the overall figure; kind of a blocky arms.

...It just that it's not for me. Really weird this Beast Wars Kingdom line. Some figures are really good. Maybe the best of the line. But others could be the worst ones too.
>>
>>9088114
I think I saw more worrying about clear plastic than actual broken toys.
>>
>>9088092
If it was a stress mark, it would have a very faint outline and be in an even shape. In your photo, it looks like a deformed L and there's no outline.
If you can't see that in person, I'd recommend you clean that area as best as you can and look at it again.
>>
>>9088130
So it’s more likely to be a scratch or processing factory issues or something? I tried cleaning it earlier but it seems like it’s actually just prt of tue plastic itself
>>9088125
Isn’t that something valid to worry about?
>>
>>9088114
Kingdom in particular seems to have had a noticeable uptick in breakages.
Almost every toy seems to have something specific that can go wrong.

Tarantulas survived. At some point he builds a spacebridge back to Cybertron, and chucks Waspinator into it to test it; Waspy arrives on Cybertron just as Megatron does and ends up as one of the first sparks he extracts.
Not mentioned in the show, but presumably happens at the end of Primeval Dawn, which is referenced in other material and is considered semi-canon.
>>9088044
>Ape-man catapult
Explicitly stated NOT to be the case by the creators. The proto-humans just kicked him out of their home; he wandered off for a while on his own until the second phase of the Beast Wars started up.
>>
>>9088033
The BeastFormers, despite the organic outer shell are actually capable of surviving in the vacuum of space unassisted. It might destroy their organic outershell but it'd cause no damage to them. Primal's initial plan to destroy the planet buster involved him flying back to Earth after jetisoning from the pod. So its very possible Waspinator flew back into space and the journey took him millions of years.

Blown apart, with only his feet left, but not vaporized. It's not the first time he survived that kind of damage on-screen, so there really was no reason to assume he was gone for good to begin with. That aside, as >>9088374 says, he ends up getting revived by the Vok he absorbed, gaining all of Tigerhawk's powers (exactly what he wanted in the cartoon anyway, just without the 'getting blown up part' first). His ultimate fate is unknown, since I don't remember him getting killed in the Universe storyline. Either way, he starts up a second phase of the Beast Wars shortly after Primal and co. take off with Megatron, and eventually makes his way back to Cybertron with a small army of new Predacons he got from all of the remaining Stasis Pods that were left behind; the Maximals, led by Primal Prime, follow him back, also with a small army.

>do people like the robot?
Absolutely, he's one of the better figures from Siege. Seems they just made a ton of 'em. Plus, they made an alternate black version of him (A Galactic Man homage) that people may have opted for instead of his standard purple, meaning more purples left on the shelf despite being the exact same mold.
I remember there being some whining about his addon-bits, but he's probably one of the only bots I'd find it acceptable for; after all, it seems perfectly in-character for him to invent a hover platform that enhances his mobility in bot mode and can combine to him as power armor for increased offensive capabilities in both modes. So very...logical.

Transformers Beast Machines Megatron

The undisputed lesser of the dragon Megatrons.

I say that but I do really like the sculpt work.
I adore the head and the dangerous dragon talons.

Colours are funs. the pillar or red that he is stands out incredibly well against the grey wings.
The construction is not fun. I wish the arms attached to the body.
And that neck.
It's just a mess of gears and springs that never does what I what. It was probably constructed by Satan and I hate it.
>>
>>9088544

Megatron does a bit of transforming. It's not a complicated toy by any stretch.
The dragon arms are mostly a carnival of failure. They don't look good in dragon mode so that they can facilitate not looking good in robot mode. But I suppose most of everything visible here is a write off. An obligation.

I can appreciate Megatron carrying on a little bit of the Transmetal 2 styles.

I wonder if you could use Transmetal Waspinator as the "Paildramon" to Trustinator's "Dinobeemon". Not a perfect match because the third mode is a plane instead of a motorcycle though. Should size classes be used as level with Baby and Baby II as just Protoform, Basic/Scout/etc as Child-level, Deluxe as Adult-level, Mega/Voyager as Perfect and Ultra/Leader as Ultimate-level?

Beast Machines certainly was unique with its antagonist. You gotta give it that.
There's something about this particular flavour of greeble that I like. Maybe it's the contrast between the small cluttered area and the smooth everything else.
Oh and I haven't mentioned it but this boy has crazy good light piping.
>>
>>9088562
It's a pretty good shockwave figure at least, I don't think there's really been any complaints on the actual figure. It really just comed down to if you like the add ons and think it makes the price worth it. I do think both the regular and galactic-man look pretty good, so it will probably come down to personal taste for you

Galactic Man is pretty fun. That red lightpiping looks incredibly evil with his black coloration. Fun feature with the Siege mold is that you can still get the G1 Handgun mode out of him by flipping his ship mode upside-down and rearranging his optional part with his 'tailcoats' into a proper handle for him. Definitely recommend getting him in either color.

Hope you enjoy Shockwave, fren. He's a good mold and a decent-sized Shockwave, extra pieces make his good gun mode into a good spaceship mode. In robot mode, ehh..

I got this fuck's autograph on the relevant Botcon comic along with the Minerva custom class figure. Then I turned around and sold that shit for $1,000. lol twice.

This was the year before the custom class shit became way more freely available I think. I remember the Soundwave/Jazz figure being obnoxious to build the next year and not many were actually completed because it was so difficult to complete.

I've owned a few of those. It always bugged me that just as they were starting to get the hang of it they ended the line.

Figures I owned:

Wolverine - Pretty decent. Very basic transformation and articulation, it's one of those ones with a bit of frustration depending on what order you do things in but once you get it right, it sings. Plus, he's made of a really sturdy plastic, makes him feel invincible. Maybe because he's an off-road vehicle? They made him in three colors, I got the black and silver because I wanted a Decepticon car to threaten my autobots and he looked damn good doing it. The yellow and blue one has a nice bright quality but I don't trust that yellow paint.

Captain America - Really quite good. He turns into a humvee which is kinda genius and he's got a spare tire that turns into his shield when you press the star button and that's really fun. The transformation really indicates that this is Hasbro guys who've *handled* transformers and know how they're supposed to work but they just don't have the history and the talent pool that Takara does. They were gonna do Captain America as the Punisher and replace the spare tire with a machine gun and fuck, what a missed opportunity. There also used to be a pretty common custom where people would make him into Swindle, and it fit really well. That's the sort of build he has.

Ghost Rider - Tragic, absolutely tragic. They straight up copied the Animated Oil Slick toy, which is a great idea and they should have continued developing on it, but instead they hampered his leg articulation and made him just a wreck. Plus, the gummy plastic on the skull was really awkward. Ended up trading him on the BST.

Always wanted to get the bike spiderman, the muscle venom, and the Hulk but all three got really hard to find right around the same time. And it absolutely bewilders me that as the MCU became not just a thing but The Thing Hasbro never got Takara to go in on starting over properly.

Honestly, I bought him and was utterly disappointed. His transformation felt pretty underwhelming, his head-sculpt with I thought would be better in person just didn’t work for me, the bit where his legs swing behind is a bitch to get right, the way his feet are positioned makes posing him much harder than it should be, along with the ratcheted legs making it even more annoying to pose and overall he just feels much, much too light for his size
