How the HELL did this guy get the wheel attached to the turret? The turret is made by jamming three bars into a wheel, which is quite straightforward. But then that wheel has to attach to the turret's main part/body. It seems to likely connect the wheel to a 1x1 brick with a stud on the side (a SNOT brick or headlight brick or whatever you call them). But how to attach it?
Those wheels stick onto axles built for them but they don't stick onto anything else. Not a hollow stud (won't fit), not a bar/lightsaber blade (way too loose). What the fuck do those little wheels even attach to besides axle pieces and how the fuck did this guy do this?

Flickr has an optional setting that disables downloads of your pictures, but only paranoid autistic people enable that, the pic anon was linking to doesn't.

I mean it doesn't work to right click and save kek. I think some allow download button but with others you have to go to page info-media.
But really I just used that pic because it was a warthog pic I already had, and I wanted to link instead of just posting a pic so people could see different angles (he has a few pics and a vid of the warthog)
but again I found a solution (1x1 brick with technic pin hole + hollow stud 1x1 round plate + the old (1990s?) version of the wheel piece)

Is anyone else considering ditching Lego, at least for a while? It seems like the prices are skyrocketing and minifigures are so sparse compared to even just a couple years ago. For example, the Creator castle only has two knights and a blacksmith (i refuse to count the skeleton because they're more of a prop than a person) at the $100 price tag. I expect that kind of move from licenshit, but why not throw in a couple more knights for fuck's sake?

Um... it doesn't involve fucking the wheel? Like yeah the three bars are a bit of a tight fit but the wheel is intact. And fitting the wheel onto a hollow 1x1 round plate works normally just like fitting any two bricks together. Are you autistic irl or only when you post on 4chan?

The thing about purists that confuses me the most is that they think everything non Lego is beneath them except when said third party bootlego company is American, has 'brick' in their name and charges people 5+ USD for a single minifigure. That set can be had at costco for $40 and a baseplate version for the price of your picture (a ripoff)
Unfortunately, you will never find the pieces you think it should have for whatever it is that you're building. I usually had to bring up a part list just to make sure I wasn't going insane trying to find pieces.

But my suggestion for MOCs is to buy a 3in1 or other set that's closest to the theme and colors you want to build with. Build it once to get technique ideas then disassemble for your moc project.

Thanks! I use BL but as the filename said they don't list minidoll arms separate from the bodies for some reason so if you want special arms you'll have to buy the whole upper part.

>>9079957
How the fuck do minidolls even ride a horse? Their legs are stuck together.
Same basic concept as a minifig on a horse, but there's a wedge that goes between the feet instead of the two studs to hold the figure in place. Minidolls with the full-length skirt piece can't use saddles and have to ride sidesaddle because the skirt isn't split like legs.

And while we're talking about minidolls, reminder that there are FOUR different types of minidoll torsos and two different types of minidoll arms:

>Adolescent female (small bust)
>Adult female (large bust)
>Adolescent male (smaller frame)
>Adult male (larger frame, larger pecs, larger shoulders)

The standard mindoll arm fits adolescent females, adult females, and adolescent males. The adult male arm fits all torsos but is larger than the shoulder of the first three torsos. Conversely, regular minidoll arms on the adult male torso look scrawny.

they don't want money, they want to turn everything into a soapbox so that it snowballs into change that they see fit for them. it's like their high, if you recall the movie "Happy feet" the whole live action segment after people saw the tap dancing penguin, it was a huge montage of eventually fixing the story's conflict of "fish shortage" that's what i think they fucking believe all their soapbox products and shows will happen.
and it pisses me off because it gets in the way from actual creative ideas with fresh new stories with whatever the hell their messages are is cleverly subtle and not in your face with it (if there is one)

hire by merit is god damn dead.

Just wanted to share with you all the unlitigated Hell that has been unleashed upon me these past couple weeks.

so my mom bought me a surprise lego set for me passing my GED, a graduation present if you will
it shipped for the first time about 2-3 weeks ago and my mom gave the address of our PO Box but the guy shipped it through UPS so it got all the way here and then they sent it back literally the day of delivery
so then I had to get with the guy who sold it and turns out he’s like a 16 year old kid who can’t drive and it took him 2 days of meandering to get it shipped back out, the first day he couldn’t go bc he had church, the second day his “mom forgot”, etc etc
the day he got it shipped out he “went up the road” to his neighbors house and asked them to do it - mind you this is a nearly $300 package.
at the 11th hour the neighbor finally shipped it and it literally got on the truck for delivery it was fucking here and then there was a “delivery exception” because he didn’t put my name on it. he didn’t put my name or phone number on the package. he put half of my address on it. It had my house number, my state, and my zip code. I had to get on the phone with UPS to change the delivery address, and they told me “rest assured your package will be delivered to you tomorrow.”
yeah so 30 minutes later the tracking updated to say the package is being returned to the sender. I called UPS and they said “there’s nothing that can be done, you will have to contact your shipper”

part 2 coming momentarily
>>

so I contacted him, for the third time, and my options were pretty much
1. drive to another state and pick it up, or 2. get a refund

dude seemed insanely hesitant to even try to get it shipped again, granted i bothered him nonstop because he is impossible to get ahold of and he always has an excuse for not getting it shipped. i told him i would handle it this time and pay for it myself.

I decided to create a third, we’re going to give this another go, and I’m going to personally create the label myself and pay for it (the shipper has been reluctant to pay a single dime for anything, I had a hilarious conversation where I told him to take an uber to the UPS store and he said "i don't wanna spend $20 on an uber though.) and then email it to him to use, and we’re going to do it through USPS. that way there is absolutely no way it can go wrong.

I want it to be known that the first time it got shipped out, the guy said "aw man, I gotta wait for the UPS truck to come by" implying that he would wait for somebody's mail to come and run up to the truck and hand them the package. He did not know about UPS stores until I informed him of them.

This is an actual conversation I had with him. I'm the green one. If the third time doesn't work out I'm just going to get my money back, this is insane. Please pray for me bros

at this rate it's about the victory of receiving the package after dealing with this shit for 3 weeks. i don't know how the fuck she did this or what site it was on because ebay would've had this shit handled in a snap. seems like it was done under the table, not sure. she knows my collection so, it is likely something i would be interested in

Lego again at trying to be things that are not lego.
If I had 200$ and a wish to display a typewriter, then I'd buy a real one!
>>
>>9079173
Yes. I've put up with a lot already, but there's no excuse for this drop in quality. Other than one of the big Creator sets that are from classic themes, which is about one set per year or a Ninjago set here or there, I'm out for now until quality comes back. Lego is going to need to fall on their butt financially before that happens though I'm afraid.

>>9080469
>"it's just one set!" they said back with Big Bang Theory
As expected, it's not going to stop. What's the point of this beyond making some political statement? I'm so sick of fags calling attention to themselves and getting near children.

>>9081548
Yup, add getting political onto the list of reasons why I'm dropping Lego also. I'm sick of the culture war itself and EVERYTHING becoming a battlefield for it.

>>9081782
Very nice!

>>9082332
>hardly even looks like Lego with this much SNOT applied
Meh, at that point, you might as well buy an actual vintage typewriter to display and even use if you want. I guess it's neat that you CAN make a model like that, but they've jumped the shark about what Lego is. This reeks of some AFOL going "B-but it's not a children's toy, look!" to me.
>>
>>9082344
The face is modified though. I'd like to avoid heresy
>>

Same desu.
I think I have enough of a hoard to work on MOCs for a while, other than small purchases for very specific parts or clearances I think I'm also out. It's sad that we have come to this.

in retrospective, i should have stayed "ditching lego" but i bagan talking about lego in other places and in here and it got me back to it, and built the grey and dark blue one in pic related.

i guess i have bad timing though because everything's gone up in pricing but quality is declining or has been declining.

but thing is, i've got like, 5 ships i wanna build for real, so no turning back i guess

(also, are dark azure and magenta pieces good an wont break into a million pieces like reddish brown? i know i have to worry about dark red pieces too as well)

Quickest way to sell my lego collection?
>>
>>9083717
bulk listing on fb or craigslist. but you're going to probably get less than if you were to piece it out, but that will take time. or if you have a resale store like bricks and minifigs you can take it there but it's going to be at a price that they can make a profit off it. so I guess it depends if you just want to get rid of it, if you're desperate for money, or if you want the best price for it.
>>
>>9082639
Holy shit the more I look at this the more it looks like a chinese bootleg set
>>
>>9083717
Put it all in one crate and sell it on craigslist at a hugely discounted price. Selling things quick always entails selling them cheap. You're not going to get a good return by selling them cheap.

On a related note, I sorted through my lego collection from childhood recently and I was surprised by how much trash and junk was in it. Probably 20% by volume. That's why bulk sales are so cheap.

But didn't originate from. Arquitens is a relatively new design from the Rebels era (I think it was designed for Star Wars Armada, that might be the Raider, can't recall), Slave 1 is great for people like me who slept on the last releases, and that troop transport is from the 80s.

The figures are Mando, but who doesn't resell the figures in this day and age?

Ziploc bags inside other bags Russian doll style >>9081458 and all held inside stacks of Sterilite three-drawer containers.

I like Sterilite because they're cheap and you can pop the top off and stack another set on top of it. The main downside is the casters start to bow out if there's too much weight because the plastic sheaths start to bend. I solved this by making some wooden carts for the casters so now they can be easily rolled around the room.

Different strokes, I guess, I'm pleased to get a smaller Slave 1 to fit on a desk, and the Arq will hopefully have some good play features.

They're pretty affordable, so worse-case they look shit on a shelf and can just be reworked or sold later.

Not a huge lego fan, but my brother got me this Batman cowl recently and I had fun building it. Used to own some sets as kids, but we kept dismantling them to the point it cannot be rebuilt without missing or broken parts so we stopped buying lego. Now I'm itching to get some sets. But the problem is the themes are mostly licenses and there's nothing that interest me. I remember wanting Power Miners, Agents or Hero factory but they've been discontinued. Is there any chance of getting them, or do I have to overpay or get it from some 3rd party?

they're old enough that not even third party toy stores will have them in stock, buying second-hand used lego is pretty much the only option
if you're looking to get into lego currently you should look into creator 3in1 and maybe creator expert

Yep, the problem is with buying Lego in general in 2021. But the lesser offense is buying affordable yet heavily scalped sets (Benny's squad) or buying non-licensed sets that are essentially scraps from long-gone in-house themes (creator ship)
However, buying books for children with little value except for a so-called exclusive minifig is as shitty as paying for licensed sets, I concede that.

Update to this story.

Package arrived at fucknut's house today, I called him after it was delivered and was met with the reveal that the package had busted open during transit and half of the set's pieces were gone. It was the 06 Batcave. He didn't bag the parts or put any kind of bubble wrap so they were all rattling around loose in the box, and when it busted open they all got out. He was reluctant to give me my money back, saying that it simply wasn't possible because he had already spent it. I had to threaten to open a paypal case with him and somehow it got in his head that he would be arrested if he didn't give it back, so I waited nearly 2 hours on the phone while he begged his mom to help him and give me my money back. My refund is now pending and I doubt I will be able to get the set elsewhere unfortunately because it's like $500+ complete.

Poor bastard asked me if there was any way for him to get the worth of the package from UPS and I asked him if he had put insurance on the box. He said he only put $75 worth on the box because he didn't want to pay more for shipping. Told him he could only get $75, and I couldn't really help him. I can't help but almost feel bad for the fucker, his sheer incompetence lead to both of us getting burned in the end, but at least I will walk away with my money back, perhaps I can save up or find another deal. At least my mom was being thoughtful when she found the set.

Sounds like you actually lucked out. This isn't a person who takes care of their belongings, so the set would have pretty certainly been in shit condition either way.
>>
>>9085768
The pictures showed that the set was shockingly in pretty good condition despite missing a couple parts. A part of me thinks that on the second fucking trip back to his house he realized he could sell it for more $$ and decided to pretend to have it ripped open. I just can't imagine as many things falling out of that box as they did. The pictures he showed me, there was maybe 100 parts left total. It just kinda took me by surprise. Surely to god someone would've noticed the box leaking parts everywhere. Regardless, I'd rather pay $500 elsewhere than ever give that kid a fucking dime

Which profession would you like to see have a dedicated set made of? Understandably we mostly get sets based on "action hero" professions like cops, firefighters, astronauts... or anything that lends itself to vehicles like pilots, sailors, construction workers, etc so I cant help but feel we're missing out on some cool job displays that at most exist as CMFs.

What are some activities that have enough associated substance to make for cool sets? Some examples at the top of my head would be like a Chef's kitchen, Gardener's yard, Gravedigger's cemetery, Artist atelier...

Any ideas?

The clinic itself and maybe a vet's version of an ambulance or doctor's car with spots for animal carriers (That small things like rabbits can fit in) Clinic would have a reception area, People sitting with their birds, doggos and such and small recuperation area with aviary stands and animal beds.
>>
>>9086499
minidolls are cute!

Tell me why /lg/ hates this set again?
>>

>>9086426
I wish this was a theme. Seriously, it would be ideal as a collectible. Even more than minifigs or modulars.

I was just reading the other day about how you can make your own models using Lego pieces. Have you considered trying that?
>>
>>9086705
Absolutely unheard of, dont spread such heresy anon. That and I dont have many lego animals beyond doggos nor a ton of spare pieces
>>
>>9086626
Real nostalgia fags like yellow castles.

There is already a city vetrenarian over the Corner Garage. We need a farm vet set that comes with sick cows and goats for him to nurse back to health.
>>
>>9087351
And a play feature were the vet shoves their arm up the cows ass.

No, the movie was mostly set in Minnesota and the tv series has more blacks than exist in the entirety of North Dakota.

It seems like it, judging by the photo. My ghosts definitely don't glow that brightly.

On Bricklink does anyone know how the Completion percentage bar on the Want List works? Does it ignore the want quantity and just increase the percentage when your Have value equals the value in the Want field for each individual item? I am inventorying a set that has multiple hundred of the same part and when I add 100 to the Have field the percentage bar doesn't change at all.

>>
>>9085908
I would suggest reworking it so the curved pieces are at the very bottom on top of the blue tiles, and the angled bricks are higher up. The rocks closest to the water level would be the smoothest because they'd be eroded more, and the rocks above the water level would be jagged. Nice work on the shaping!
