Old >>8961397 thread (some leak stuff and a load of bs too)

Line is ok but what if it was a little better like the ole Kenner days Rubber dinos and real dino damage?
>>
>>9019795
So is this worth getting as far as figures?
>>
My Extreme Chompin T. rex has a loose leg (the leg that has the DNA code on the foot)
Has anyone here had this problem as well?
>>
>>9019893
Loose how, like the Spinosaurus or like its going to fall off?
>>
>>9019795
TFW wish they made a full 32" Spinosaurus of rubber instead of the small 23 in EC figure
>>
>>9019988
My Spinosaurus's joints aren't loose at all

My rex's leg moves if I just jiggle the toy up and down though

The 1/35th will be the more affordable for those who don't have a huge or unlimited budget giving more options to add other Tyrannosaurs to your list instead of breking the bank on one massive figure but I'm sure many will

I am going to be one of the only people whp buy this only for the rex and doesn't give a shit about the car or Lex.

I've been wanting a decent sized movie accurate rex for a long time now, and this one looks like its the ticket.

i dont watch camp cringe but i fucking hate how the Ouranosaurus looks like in it.

JWE Ouranosaurus was perfection, now hes just a hadrosaur with a spinosaurus sail that is for some reason aggresive to humans. that fucking show sucks balls

I bet dominion Giganoto looks different than Game Giganoto too

Does anyone feel like the sculpt work and quality of dinosaur from the Mattel line is falling apart? The first batch/run was a total breath of fresh air. We get decently screen accurate dinosaurs with good sculpt. Yes I know there are some problems, like the large raptor feet or innacurate T-rex BBQ brown color.

However, as they move away from the screen dinosaur and take liberties, the dinosaurs just become more and more cartoony proportions, with zany neon colors and not remotely realistic at all. At this point, no-screentime dinosaur like pic related is indistinguishable from unlicensed Chap Mei dinosaur.

Yes, so tired of the brown JP rex though the brown running rex by Papo holds more interest for me then the green these days. I guess it doesn't really count as it looks more like a King Kong V-rex or Hypo rex than the JP rex. I'd have no problem with pic related though

It is unironically better than some of the movies. That is true. I expected it to look absolutely nothing like her period and have like the completely wrong outfit on with some sort of goofy expression on her face.

This would have been passable like a decade ago, but their contemporaries have left Mattell in the dust when it comes to 1/12 figures at the $20 price point.

Why do they never give these figures cool accessories and why do they always make the dinosaurs teeth dulled? It's like they're playing by a completely different set of rules than all of their competitors are.

Mcfarlane, Hasbro, NECA, etc do not have this problem and they're targeting the exact same people.
>>
>>9046848
All companies have dull edges to sharp points when they're making mass retail toys. Some NECA or McFarlane figures are sharp, but maybe those '15+' figures are under different rules, though I don't think they are.

And the accessories they include are just the ones they're choosing to include, I don't think there's anything else to it.
>>
>>9046848
When you're selling toys to a mass market and "kid crowd" safety stuff is even more strict. Adult collectibles can skirt around it mostly.

No prob. I will say the clip version isn't bad by any means, it will still hold, it's just a little more wobbly because it's not clicked in place to the same extent as the peg, and again it only really clips on the section between the wings and legs, because that's the only area on its body thin enough to fit in the clip. It really depends on what you want. I honestly would get both if you can they're both great.

I tracked down the video just to get an answer to this, he customized it himself. He added the black trim to the windows and the writing on the tires. He also showed that the sticker on the hood of the car was apparently supposed to be positioned closer to the windshield but they fucked up and put it "lower" so there's parts of the sticker that don't really match up with the curve of the head.

No, the T-Rex would need to be much bigger. Rexy as shown in the movie can chomp down on a person all the way to the legs, so if you imagine how big a person sitting in that Jeep would be, it'll give you an idea of how much bigger the Rex would need to be.

Way to big man I really wish people working on this stuff weren't so retarded or willfully ignorant of the knowledge and real facts on Dinosaurs Atrociraptor was only 6ft ling same size Velociraptor Mongoliensis
>>
What does glib mean?
>>
>>9086078
It depends on when you ask. As of the first movie, they are meant to be fairly realistic clones of the original dinosaurs, and were more or less scientifically accurate for the time. As time went on the idea of them being less accurate in-universe took hold (JP3 has Grant continuing research on actual raptors because he insists the ones Hammond made have nothing to do with the real historical ones). By the time JW rolled around, Wu straight up admits the dinosaurs aren't at all accurate and were specifically engineered to resemble the popular conception of dinosaurs and would look very different if they'd actually made them accurate.

So basically they were meant to be in-universe accurate but as real-life discoveries changed what that meant, they got retconned into being intentionally inaccurate in-universe.

>>
>>9089787
I wouldn’t say they look like shit, but they’re not really spectacular either. I think it’s best to wait for the movie to judge the final design, since both the reference maquettes which leaked a while ago as well as this rendered image might not give an accurate representation of what they actually will look like in the movie.

Both the books and movies make it clear that the dinosaurs aren't true to life. They ARE clones of dinosaurs, but the gap-filling and other modifications make them arguably something else, not quite real dinosaurs. Definitely not simply animals made to look like dinosaurs though.

The books have a scene with Wu and Hammond arguing and Wu pointing out that they've not resurrected dinosaurs but rather recreated an approximation of them(pic related, left side).

The movies took longer to specifically start exploring the idea, but even in the first movie they mention how they had to fill in gaps with frog DNA and modify the growth rate and what-not(the book mentioned a wider variety of animals being used, movie simplified it to hammer home the sex-changing thing). Jurassic Park 3 has Grant say:

>"Dinosaurs lived sixty five million years ago. What is left of them is fossilized in the rocks, and it is in the rock that real scientists make real discoveries. Now what John Hammond and InGen did at Jurassic Park is create genetically-engineered theme park monsters, nothing more and nothing less."

Then Jurassic World in a way brings back the Wu and Hammond argument(pic related, right side) when Masrani confronts Wu about the Indominus breaking out.

Sure, for the time the dinosaurs in both Crichton's book and the JP movie were relatively accurate, but it's not like they were free of liberties being taken. Crichton for example renamed Deinonychus to Velociraptor because the name was "more dramatic" and the production kept that up, even asking John Ostrom for his notes on Deinonychus just like Crichton. The movie alsoadded the frill to and shrunk down the Dilophosaurus because they didn't want audiences to confuse it with the "Velociraptor", and the book had already added the venom spit. Among other things.
