That looks really good, but the figures heads look way oversized?

Does anyone know of a brand that makes vehicles like pic related? The color doesn’t matter, just that it’s minifig scaled.

Pic related just arrived. While i'm not a fan of "technic" constructions in general, i love bullpup rifles.. so yeah, i just had to buy this.

Will start building it this evening. I'm curious how it s going to compare with the Panlos QBZ-97 rifle.
And especially curious about the "firepower" thanks to the electrical components.
>>
>>9020449
how do the motors come into play ? flywheels or are they pulling back a spring?
>>
>>9020456
if i get the instructions right, it should be responsible to make the gun fire in semi-auto mode. i did not see a spring inside, so the motor will move the mechanism alone.
But if/how well this works.. no idea yet.

You guys know any good bootlegs that make the tiny turbo sized sets Lego used to do in the mid-late 2000's? I miss them and would like to see more sets I could use for parts.
>>
>>9021882
Sluban makes a series of mini-scale car sets. They're not exactly in Tiny Turbos style, more like a Choro Q aesthetic?

https://aliexpress.com/item/4001208967064.html
>>
>>9022022
I recognize some of those from a Decool package, like the green mini and the blue Emmet's car.

Decool also had those tiny turbo-sized Ferraris.
>>
Anybody own one of these crazy over-engineered brick separators? The hammer is particularly overkill, but it looks cool.
>>
>>9022022
Aside from that, does a store like Dollar Tree carry any good "Lego" sets that have the types of parts for making either styles? (The wheels/tires, plates, etc.)
>>

>>9024908
Personally, I don't think Dollar Tree is an economical way to go about building a catalog of parts. I mean, they do sell an assortment of micro builds, but they average about 25 pieces a set. That would be a great price-to-parts ratio if we were talking Lego. The trouble is the builds really suffer from lack of parts and look barebones. You're not building anything remotely substantial like a Tiny Turbos car for a dollar.

This Block Tech set from Five Below on the other hand fits the bill pretty well. The price-to-parts ratio breaks down to 33 parts per dollar. You get two mini vehicle builds and a bunch of robot-making parts. Also, there's two different sets for a total of four vehicle builds. Is it more expensive than a dollar? Sure, but you're getting something closer to what you're seeking for the money.
>>
Is there anywhere to buy individual minifigs from companies like Enlighten? I've got some custom figs I'm working on and I'd kill for the two ladies from High Tech Era and the two elf molds from War of Glory.
>>
>>9025289
I don't think so, unless somebody sells you theirs (and no, you can't have mine). The sets the High Tech Era ones are in can be pretty cheap though, and you get the set too. Hanna (the blonde one) is in 2702 and 2709, for example. Clara (the red-head) is in 2715 and 2721, which are more expensive, granted. No idea about which elves you mean, but there's one in 2304, and that's pretty cheap too.

This looks really cool.

took a month to get here and about 2 hours to build, it's pretty cool looking 2bh. I was pleasantly surprised that it has a 2-speed transmission.

cons
-no instructions (they probably would've been shitty anyways)
-bagging seemed haphazard, had to open 5 bags for the first few steps
-usual fitment issues but bike still holds itself together
-red of stickers didn't match red of parts
-one part was missing (not bad for a knockoff set), enough leftover parts to make something work
-rubberband "belt" between motor and transmission slips a lot so you can't see the cylinders moving
-transmission kinda finnicky to lock into gear sometimes
-track stand doesn't hold rear tire off ground like I expected

pros
-sticker numbers were accurate to official lego instructions
-stickers looked very legit, typeface was accurate
-tire rubber was high quality
-plastic in general felt high quality (close to or matching real lego feel)
-included brick separator

also, the pictures in the manual showed the chain really slack and I was worried I would have the same problem, but mine was nice and taut.

I did not apply the stickers and i noticed that i have not enough batteries.. but besides that it is finished.

I'm totally satisfied with it so far. It even came with a sling.
It also included an optional piece of rail to install on top of the handle to apply a red dot or scope (not included).

At this point, the biggest difference between this and the Panlos Type 97 is that the barrel that sticks out in the front here is shorter, and it is also supported by a technic axle for the full length, whereas in the Panlos rifle the barrel is longer and without an support inside it, so it falls off easier if you are careless.

Without going into the politic discussion, there are still some of the older Enlighten Medieval sets to be found.

There is also their "The War of Glory" series which is more or less World of Warcraft inspired.
Some sets are pretty much shit (they took too much inspiration from Nexo Knights for them), but others (Zeppelin, Griffin vs Hippogrypt Glaive Thrower and a couple others) are pretty good WoW sets. And some even (Smithy, Dwarfen mine) are just good medieval sets.
Most of this range is available at Ali and Yourwobb.

The german Youtuber "Johnnys World" who works with Enlighten/Qman reviewed this series a while ago (because he also complained about the lack of medieval sets for children).
Enlighten told him that it did not sell this well, so they canceled the series.
Apparently they are working behind the scene to release some medieval sets again.

His biggest critique about the "War of Glory" in particular was that it lacked an evil faction. Its "good" Humans (+Dwarfs) vs "good" Elves.
He also disliked some of the bigger vehicles.

A couple of years ago, I built an off-road vehicle for my girl gang out two Brictek sets I got for cheap on Amazon. It was kind of a building exercise, and I limited myself to using only the parts in both sets. I was mostly satisfied with the truck at the time. There were things about the vehicle that I didn't like. There were gaps so large that you could see through the truck at certain angles. There were multiple places where the build was held together by a single stud or were highly unstable. I didn't like how the gun was just clipped to the rail and didn't rotate.

I thought I did okay in spite of the limitations I put on myself. Still, it bugged me a little knowing that it could be better. I recently found myself with a boatload of spare pieces from another build that I completed, so I thought I would try correcting some of the issues that I had with the truck...

The Mk. 2 corrects all the problems of the Mk. 1. Weak points in the build have either been reinforced or rebuilt. The gun has the capability to rotate without impediment, and a gunner can either sit or stand in the turret. The biggest drawback of the new design is that it reduces passenger capacity from 4 to 3. Moving the hand rails from the top to the sides of the truck means that additional gang member can hang off the sides, and it doubles as weapon storage.

Thanks! The Cobi figure, the sabre, and the unnerving human skull all came from an old Pirates set I had lying around. I was expecting her to be a minidoll based on the packaging, so I was a little shocked when I discovered just how tiny she is. She also came with a rubbery skirt piece, but I opted to leave her in leggings for full range of articulation.

So first time buying sembo, got pic related.
It is pretty good but some connections are a bit weird, like having a single stud to connect a 1x2 piece on the side of the cannon, the cannon itself also can't do full 360 rotation because the headlights are in the way.
The figures are nice and with good prints. Also came with a lot of guns and stuff (there are more than pic but I already tossed them in my parts bin).
Stickers were mostly snug fits on the pieces but some were a bit bigger but it isn't that big of a deal, the only issue is the front panel which has 2 stickers that are across 2 pieces each while everything else is contained to its piece. Also the cover of the cannon was black with a black sticker which made it essentially invisible so I replaced it with a light gray one instead.
It came missing a black 1x2 grill but I had a spare so I replaced it.
Threads don't move as smooth as I wanted but it works well enough.
>>
>>9047279
Actually now that I think about it the fast food stores I had before were sembo but not labeled as such, either way sembo has good quality bricks so I will be buying more in the future.
>>
>>9045659
>Isn't that a friends-like clone?
The Lego Friends minidoll is taller than tee average minifigure, while the Cobi counterpart is the same height as a minifigure. The Cobi female minifigure also has independently articulated legs. Lego minidolls only have the single joint at the hips.
>>
>>9047144
I would say to buy the smallest set with your desired elf slut and think of the rest of it as parts for use in a future custom build. The chances of finding somebody willing to sell you the single figure is remote, and the sets are no longer in production. It's not going to get any easier to find them.

It was pic related on the box.
>>
>>9070575
I wonder how they stand up to playtime. The construction is more flimsy than Lego, and those get cracked arms and sides constantly.
>>
>>9070933
Sounds like a problem with the seller. I've noticed that some of them leave out "bonus" accessories to save on postage. I once ordered a Sluban set that was supposed to include a printed foamcore diorama base and brick separator, but I didn't realize it until seeing some video reviews of the set years later. I was annoyed, but the omission of both didn't prevent me from building the set so I let it go. Leaving out figures and decals probably would irk me even more.

It was a sealed box I bought from a local store though.

Maybe newer Sembo sets have the "square" heads?
I have a couple of older ones (like purchased around 1 year ago) and it was 100% lego clone figures with the tanks.

The figures on top of the Maus tank are Panlos figures, they were included in that set.

Nice, be sure to share when you do. Been meaning to get a King Tiger to round out my late-war Waffen-SS armored platoon but expenses keep coming up; a Panther would be nice too but I don't like Quan Guan's take and finding Cobi sets at a reasonable price here is spotty at best.

Definitely set for artillery, have nearly every gun Quan Guan has made and a few by other brands.

No clue. There is something missing in my life, and I haven't figured out what yet. I never really felt like I fit in with my peers and society in general, and being extremely introvert doesn't help me deal with peoples daily bullshit. I've always felt most at peace with myself when alone, out in nature or just working with my hands. I may be on the spectrum, but I don't know, lol. So for now I'm going to buy a fuckton of bricks and BUILD!
>>9083843
Lego didn't use to be made in China. In fact EU forced them to lower the standard, because the quality of the plastic was deemed too high compared to the rest of Europe.
>>
>>9083872

>>
>>9083880

>>
>>9083880
>>9083930
Sounds like TLG propaganda, honestly. Is there a source on the EU compelling the change? Don't mean to imply anything, just that TLG has been doing a lot of greasy stuff (from stealing the original plastic brick design from KiddieCraft to waging legal warfare on a German non-Lego legoes distributor) and I wouldn't put it past them to misrepresent why their product quality is in decline.
>>
>>9083930

>>9083943

All I can find is the EU safe toy directive: https://ec.europa.eu/growth/sectors/toys/safety_en
So it may just have been used by Lego as an excuse to why their quality has been lowered.

just got and built the qman rocket jeep from their newest Thunder Mission range.

Its a nice vehicle, but i will probably remove the rocket launcher on the back, or modify it somehow.
>It comes with two soldiers, with different faces, but identical body/leg print.
>Lots of stickers (which i did not apply yet)
>it has a working suspension in which the technic parts are connected with rubber bands
Sadly i'm a retard and managed to sling one of the rubber bands through my room while building it and the cat got and destroyed it. No spare rubber band was included sadly but i should have some spares from other sets

One of the parts is damaged pretty noticeable, you can see that spot on my picture right next to the open door in the front.

Overall a nice litte set with good play features (adjustable rockets, doors/roof can be opened, suspension).
On the back of the instruction there are 4 more sets (numbers 22011-1 to 22011-4) than visible on the OP picture. Its small 150-170 pieces sets, but in comparison to their previous small "-1 to -4" sets, this time they all include only one minifigure whereas the police, swat, wildlife and UN sets previously always had 2-3 figures included (which was a good way to get 3 figures for 3-4€).

If anyone is interested:
Tank transport: 22015 - 5 figures - 829 pc
Fighter jet: 22013 - 3 figures - 375 pc
MRAP vehicle 22014 - 3 figures - 603 pcs

Stumbled across a couple of interesting things while checking the Dollar Tree website. First is this 100-piece assortment of bricks. Looks to be just bricks. No slopes, plates, tiles, or specialized parts. Also no bricks larger than 2x4. Minecraft-y colors. Still, 100 bricks for a dollar. Depending on the assortment of bricks, it might be worthwhile.
>>
>>9086171
The other thing that caught my eye was this assortment of mini sets. You get one mini build and one minifigure for one dollar. And the builds look to be not too bad. I'm not crazy aboul the way the figures look, but it looks to be a pretty good deal.

Aliexpress has a couple of sellers that sell classic medieval knight figures.

Quality is not high end, but its ok. Especially considering that they are out of production for decades and second hand prices are insane.

They are supposed to use the best quality bricks on the market, better than Lego.

Since most of their sets are (sometimes stolen) MOCs, brick quality alone won't help if the original design is flawed for whatever reasons.
No idea if thats the case with your Star Destroyer though.
