white prime is the best prime so far from the past 3 or 4 years?

I have these three. Some of you guys have been talking about paint flaking off. Which one was that? Was it kingdom? Should I put netflix prime with the kigndom trailer and ebay the extra prime?

Is something better coming? Should I hunt down earthrise prime? 35th anniversary cel shaded prime?
>>
>>8980054
Netflix is the one that replaced all the painted areas that might flake (back of the head, gun and hands). ER and Kingdom are almost the same (apparently, the paint on the gun is slightly different on the Kingdom).

ER/Kingdom Optimus is the best CHUG Optimus we've gotten to date, although granted true satisfaction comes after swapping its head with the Siege Optimus' head.
>>
>>8980069
that leaves me with the question of a trailer. Should I open both the kingdom and the netflix and sell the earthrise prime? Or is there a better 3P trailer coming? Something more in scale with the other figs?

With Clobber being a thing, I can only hope Hasbro has some more financial incentive to revisit Lugnut. Give him something that reflects his heft more. After they make Lugnut they can recolor/remold him into Clobber to make more use out of him and not worry about just investing in a one-off. Just play around with the color palette to not make them look like carbon copies at least.

A retroactive G1 counterpart like Barricade may actually help accentuate their thickness if designed properly. Just needs the right altmode. I mean, they can try the bomber jet again but it needs more weight. They definitely need to give Lugnut his nuke hands back if they do. The alternative take in the Classics one just doesn't do it for me, as much as I like its alt mode. They just help beef him up and make him look dangerous.

Man Paleotrex is like 90% perfect in dino mode but the posability of the head disappoints me. The upper joint is basically locked if you have the mace head inside it (and there isn't really any place else to put it on the dino) and the crotch part blocks the lower neck joint from looking down at all.

Just popping out the mace head is obvious but I want to try and figure out some solution to giving the lower neck joint a little bit of range to look down, I'm contemplating cutting off the 5mm peg on his back to give the hip piece more room to turn and move out of the way of the neck joint, but I'm not sure about it.

those old cartoons could never scale anything. US or japan. Those predacons are suppose to be the same height as the animal and monster headmasters. At best, they are taller than normal decepticons and a head shorter than dinobots.

Ofcourse, the terrorcons are suppose to be the same size as the predacons. Which they obviously aren't if you owned them.

This shit doesn't matter. nothing matters. Its all about the price point the bosses at takara and hasbro wanted to hit

This discussion about MP 10V has me curious. I'm not interested in getting the Optimus, but I am curious about the trailer, can it work with ER Prime? I know how the connection on MP-10's trailer works, but I don't mind getting it if there's a way to replace that with a peg.
>>
>>8980297
Being fair, Headmasters used a very different scale reference chart than the first 3 seasons. Generally, everyone was smaller in that show.
>>
>>8980307
ER Prime's trailer is a peg on the trailer popping into a socket on the truck bed iirc.

You could definitely 3D print an adapter of sorts for MP10V that could fit into the slots on MP10V's truck mode slots to get a 5mm socket on there, but whether or not that would actually work would depend on the height of the truck bed relative to the trailer, the truck bed would have to be lower than ER Prime's truckbed which doesn't seem likely

The Lord.
No uh, think it was just curiosity and interest in an older set of stuff. Heard about stuff like Target: 2006 and Straxus, etc. I don't know when I got into it, since I made Kreon Straxus pretty quick. Might've been partly influenced by The Ultimate Guide, which Furman wrote, and there was a bit about G1/G2 Marvel, so I had a passing knowledge about it. Was also told that due to weekly/monthly differences, the UK one had way more stories, so I went straight for that. It's lengthy but very rewarding, a lot of unexpected bots are endearing.

Here's a mega with a lot of stuff, from the 80s Marvel stuff, to DW and around up to 2016 of Marvel.
mega nz/folder/109wjIbL#AjQrRxYcKxQvHo0KIkb-2A
And some bios and stuff I compiled/streamlined from what's in the mega, as well as the bios that were slipped inside random issues.

The Marvel continuity's very rewarding, and I'd definitely recommend people check it out.

>>

For me I was into Beast Wars, but then rented The Movie in '97 or '98 and found a huge majority of the entire run of the Marvel series in the back issues when nobody gave a shit about them.

It was an experience getting the Budiansky issues and having all the core cast but written in that more kid-friendly style in some pretty bad storylines and then reaching Furman where it was all lesser-known characters but with stuff like The Matrix Quest and Unicron.

Please explain to me the logic behind how someone preferring a titan-class Scorponok, that was only relevant in the Japanese continuity, is somehow a g1 boomer, yet somehow preferring the scale only relevant in the Marvel comics is not being a g1 boomer, despite it being more likely a g1 boomer would care more about the comics than they would the Japanese shows.
>>
>>8980390
Get the Energon Ultra class Scorponok?
>>
>"Scorponok should be a smaller toy because Marvel comics!"
>nobody ever asks for a Trypticon small enough for the Dinobots to beat up
>>
>>8980504
Not him, but I think Scorponok is more consistently a smaller dude than a titan. Unlike, say Trypticon, who is always a large guy. There was also IDW, and I think he had a role in Dreamwave too. Then you get stuff like Energon where he's large but not giant, and then that's not even counting other name uses like BW and the movies.

Titan's don't usually have a lot of character outside being big dumb brutes. I think when Scorponok is a titan he becomes like he does in the Netflix show. You really lose all character traits of being a new Decepticon warlord. Plus as others said, he doesn't really look good with other headmasters or other characters.

Plus stuff like >>8980505 is a little demeaning. That's sorta like saying "You don't need to have that Armada Prime, just get bendy prime."
>>
>>8980535
Actually you're right. Titans are terrible and lose all fun after about 5 minutes and then you put them on a shelf. They should do more smaller versions of them

Plus, Beast Machine had three different versions of him that got toys: cloaked, Noble/Savage, and Grand Mal.

Oh, and the Masterpiece.

Also, I think Takara's pack-in comics treated the Legends version of Titans Return voyager Megatron with the purple G2 colors as having been BW Megs, but I could be wrong about that.

The Matrix turning into Allspark is directly from the original comics though. The Matrix wasn't anything in the G1 cartoon except "the matrix" and "it held wisdom and could nuke Unicron", it was the comics that made it important, and it started with the creation.

>Hell, Simon Furman himself did that when he took over.
Gee I wonder what Furman worked on, was it the comics? That just proves the point more. The comics were the original basis for most of the lore and characterizations, regardless of their quality. To act like they weren't the foundation and to only idolize an animation error ridden cartoon is retarded. Stop acting like the 1984 cartoon was the first and only TF piece of media in existence.

Then all of the BW cast would be around Headmaster/Battlemaster height (or all of the G1 cast would be Titan height). They're intended to be two wildly different scales in-universe, so it's not feasible to actually make them the same size or their actual scale - what we got was the best possible compromise.

That little garbage muncher may be a coward with a bad attitude, but he does genuinely value the lives of his fellow Maximals and does have the best tactical mindset.
>>
>>8981310
I think I know the episode you were talking about, Chain of Command, and the vote for leadership was between Dinobot and Rattrap, because Dinobot tried to assume command. So yeah the episode had Rattrap take leadership, but I'm not sure if that would give him second in command role due to the emergency situation. I'd say that was more so just that, the emergency situation. Especially since the earth Maximals aren't any army unit with command structure.

>He took charge when Primal was dead
No, Rattrap did. Rhinox stayed in the Axalon and went searching for Primal's spark while Rattrap and Dinobot fought over who should take charge - and Rattrap won the argument. Primal also repeatedly puts Rattrap in charge of things when he's not around, and at one point entrusts him with an espionage mission that involved him pretending to defect without telling any of the others about it. Primal trusts Rattrap the most out of his whole crew, despite the fact that he and Rhinox were old friends; especially more than Rhinox, because Primal always knew exactly what was actually lurking behind his calm exterior, as he mentions when Megatron temporarily causes Rhinox to change sides. Rattrap was always Primal's go-to guy up until Beast Machines, where Cheetor matured and stepped up to the plate.

>>
>>8981398
Rattrap being trustworthy and Rattrap being a leader are two very different things. His trustworthiness is not at all at question here. But Rhinox has had his fair share of leadership moments too in Primal's absence. There was the episode where they were all blind and Rhinox lead them out, and in your example of Rhinox searching for Primal's spark, he was still the one relaying orders. He even forces Dinobot to submit to him as Dinobot tries to assert his dominance in his typical fashion.

Rhinox is more comparable to an Ultra Magnus role, can lead, knows how to lead, but takes a back seat most of the time.
>>
>>8981409
I think ultimately Rattrap fits more as a second in command than Rhinox simply because Rhinox lacks that drive of leadership (which he himself acknowledges). All the brains and brawn in the world aren’t useful when you don’t want to use them.

Plus Rattrap being an annoying snark, constantly questioning Optimus’s orders, helps prove and test those orders to make sure Optimus is committed in his goals.

It still bugs me that they pretty much assassinated his character in BM. Hey, don't get me wrong - I actually liked Beast Machines, especially after rewatching it years later and actually catching a bunch of things I missed. It was weird, and it took Botanica getting injured at the very end for 'old Rattrap' to come back - which was during the first part of the finale. He wasn't himself for literally the entirety of the series.

>>
>>8981409

Eh, I don’t know about ‘evil’, just that the distinction between the Maximals and Vehicons was one Rhinox sided with Megatron over Optimus with.

Similar to that autistic logic-above-all thing Shockwave has, especially in Prime. He was quite agreeable and forgiving when a logical argument was made to him.
>>8981472
I think part of cutting Rattrap’s back talk in Beast Machines was the justifications the writers would need to give Primal to defend his organic fanaticism. By not having anyone (or at least anyone effective) call out Optimus on his BS, the writers didn’t have to justify his decisions hardly at all. Another sign of a series that had veered too far off from what made it good.

Yeap, sort of like what we were (or at least I was..) speculating about Hot Rod vs Rodimus prior to the reveal.

I mean, it's technically accurate to SOME model, just a bit overextended. Saw a fellow shave Kup's chin and he looked fine. I think people are pretty founded in their dislike for Blurr. It's just cheap feeling and doesn't accomplish much over the TR version other than having ankles and not having to take his head off. Coming out on the same wave as Hot Rod too just makes it all the more painful to be aware of his existence.
>>
>>8981778
His proportions are seriously messed up. He has skeleton arms and giant hands and a flat torso, none of which the animation model has. He's basically like somebody designed a Kup out of some very vague memories of somebody's fanart.
>>
>>8981788
>Face
Understandable, but that is how he looked in the film.
>Wrists
The bicep swivel created by the peg actually acts against a wrist swivel, which would make it very annoying to move and pose it unless the tolerances were just right. Plus, being removable means third parties can create their own with very easy swapping.
>Backpack
I’ll have to disagree here. SS86 Kup has one of the most solid/cleanest backpacks I’ve seen recently. It folds well, plugs in, and even helps keep the wheel arch things in place.

I get that Blurr might not be everyone's favourite, but it hurts that the lovely movie crew (despite Hasbro trying to make new toys for them) are underwhelming to others, myself included. but sort of like with poor Wheelie, I feel Blurr's already getting too much hate. TR Kup was at least based on Marvel colours, whereas for Blurr they sort of went IDW but really they just cheaped out. And now he looks like Jay Leno with no wrists. I hope there's no qc issues with Blurr or Grimlock.

>>8981844
Ah, are you the chin-shave anon? Because Kup looks nicer here. You said you'd do more work after, is this part 2? And afaik both heads/faces ARE technically based on a certain frame or model... it's just that they happened to pick like, the worst and non-iconic model..

Altered the original? Hm. Well, here's the only other thing I have for his model, although I think this was more relevant during TR/Legends days. Hm, it's pretty bad that he needed that much reworking. His body doesn't really look like "Kup" either, too slender and smooth, he should be more blocky, I think. I'm fine with TR Marvel Kup but wouldn't mind a Legends-looking mainline one. Some day.

4chan is not an elementary school. There is a culture of "if you're being an idiot, you're going to be called an idiot", and there's an expectation you'll be mature enough with thick enough skin not to be all that bothered by it. The expectation is everyone is 18+, and no one should need to sugar-coat their words or feelings for the sake of protecting the fragile feelings of others, because everyone should have grown out of that fragility.

I thought Rhinox was brainwashed? Even after he broke free of Tankor's programming, I thought he was still altered.
>>
>>8982059
Officially, Rhinox wasn't brainwashed and knew what he was doing. No one liked that, and every piece of media after BM has him admitting he was wrong and wanting to be a good person once again.

Maybe I need to rewatch BM then. My memory is a bit faulty on it, I must have found it so OOC I just rejected it
>>

Yeah, the show basically established he knew what he was doing as Tankor, liked it, and was going to continue doing it after the Tankor personality was gone and crown himself king. They even had an episode just to establish he wasn't brainwashed and this was who he was now.

I haven’t watched BM in years (hell, never even finished it) but my takeaway was that Rhinox was ultimately a bit of a fundamentalist in terms of the sanctity of Sparks and Cybertronians. Beast modes were fine, and even the Transmetal forms were okay (since the spark chamber/brain module were still 100% technological). But the fully technorganic Maximals crossed a line because it brought in the possibility of fully organic transformers- ones that weren’t fragments of Primus. And fully organic transformers could outbreed and outcompete ‘natural’ ones, and lacking a true soul would be little more than monstrous beasts. Kind of like an inverse ‘Cybernetics eat you soul’ sort of view point.

It was that coupled with the Tankor personality overpowering his old one that made him an antagonist who was ‘aware’ of his actions. Ultimately though I prefer just having BW Rhinox be himself, so...
>>
>>8981793
Nothing because whoever designed the faction symbol made it look so weird and I hate it
>>
Hey fellow BW fags, what are you supposed to do with Powerpinch's robot legs in beast mode? I feel like he poses better with them lined up with the tail but they don't seem to plug in anywhere but I remember a lot of old BW stuff had that problem. Also what's the actual method for manuvering the legs during the transformation?

Trypticon shows up all of once in Marvel G1 (twice if you're reading UK G1) before he gets called back to Cybertron because Rat-Bat's a energon enerjew and never appears again. Scorponok on the other hand is the second-most prominent Decepticon leader in Marvel G1 besides Megatron, with Shockwave shortly behind him. You're comparing an apple to a singular grape

Tankor was basically Predacon Rhinox from that one BW episode, so what I like to think happened is that Megatron's shell program permanently reformatted the sparks into Predacons, which also explains why Silverbolt became such a huge edgelord in the second season. When Primal and Megatron reformatted Cybertron at the end of the series Silverbolt got his Maximal personality back because that reformatted the sparks back into Maximals. Had Tankor not been dead at that point he would have turned back into BW Rhinox.

The cons really do need a big roster or grunts to not look pathetic

I want to see a small team of cons working in unison as well as the average group of plucky autobots who learn the power of teamwork blah blah blah. Too often all cons are assholes just barely restrained from tearing themselves apart, which yeah I get it because they're bad guys, but bad guys can work together effectively too.
Aren't most of the con combiner teams held together by little more than the shared love for breaking shit?

Always wished the cons would get written as something other then retarded psychopaths. The closest I can think to that not being the case is the aligned continuity making (and TFA vaguely mentioning) the cons started out as a political movement/revolution that went too far or took a wrong turn during the war. It’s a decent origin beyond “evil fuckers incorporated”.
Always thought a idea could be the cons are started by someone else and either right before the war or during Megatron takes over giving an excuse for the cons to be flooded with crazy, destructive, disloyal, and unstable bots

A classic military coup against a rotting government works, allowing Optimus to rise to prominence when official leadership falls to the relentless onslaught and rallying the people behind him as the species takes sides for the next gajillion years of civil war.

And what exactly did they claim?

Because G1 starscream sells unlike the average bay character who appears on screen for 2 seconds and then dies

I mean why is it a leader class figure? G1 Starscream is not big enough to need a Studio Series Leader.

One of the reasons why I always prefer the Quintessons origin is that I can see the civil war starting because of the different backgrounds of the different lines of cybertronians that rebelled against them creating two schools of thought that couldn't reconcile once they start trying to figure out how to deal with their independence.
The Autobots, having been servants, want a planet that keeps to itself and respects the lives of those who don't tread upon them; the decepticons, having been the universe's main military tools of many other planets for centuries, want a militaristic planet that strikes preemptively against anyone that could prove a threat to Cybertron.

That way you can have your grey morality meme without assbackwards contrivances like functionism or having random bots being born to be Primes.

You'll need the Airachnid Microverse playset to get tiny Polly Pocket Megatron.

Sorry, Arachnid. I'm so used to correcting people on the heli-spider-lady's name I overcorrected on an actual word.
