You wake up in a timeline that actually isn't awful and they're making a brand new Bionicle animated series - it will be a subtle adaptation of G1 with creative liberties taken in terms of the plot to keep things fresh and not a straight adaptation, and you are the one who gets to choose which artist will inspire the show's artstyle. Who do you pick?
Me personally, I would go for either Genndy Tartakovsky or Derrick Wyatt.

I can't find the picture with multiple masks, but here's one. I remember a red Kadin too. They're all made by bobthedoctor27, who paints a lot of masks for his MOCs. His dark blue and dark red are very similar to Lego.

Remember in the comics how Zaktan's body was composed of microscopic Rahi called protodites? This is seemingly referenced in Bionicle Heroes DS. During the Zaktan fight he'll turn into a sort of green mist after taking enough damage.
>>
>>8976834
I remember it being referenced in the VNOG too

Mister N's Drop a Brick blog at
>drop-a-brick.blogspot.com/2019/09/mnog-chronicle-prologue.html?m=1
is a treasure trove of easily-digestible early Bionicle. Be sure to read the first six chapters that have been translated into English, and if you've got a browser with automatic translation functionality, I recommend continuing on to Mister N's VK blog (which is in his native Russian). Also attached in the prologue is a link to an "Early and Unused Story Concepts" document, which is also worth a read.

You have checked Faber Files right? Or this document? It's about the early story plans that changed during development, especially the biggest changes and retcons that happened in 2001 around the time of the Maori controversy.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NvpUPA8aOulNvSMq4kpX82bDbugJ2mbOL6cVfMXPNoc/edit
There's that recent YouTube interview with the Creative Capers directors and producer, which goes into detail on how the movies got made and how Lego worked from the inside. They showed some interest in releasing an art book or making a documentary about the development of the films, if they could get Lego's approval. The directors' audio commentary for Mask of Light isn't too heavy with info but it's got some neat trivia if you can listen to it.
There's this nice fan retrospective on how MNOG was made too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmHmFmPM5Hk

I'd honestly just pick a safe and obvious choice, and go with the style of the Ghost ads, with some inspiration from the Miramax movies, especially Web of Shadows.
But for scene
>>
>>8976908
>But for scene
I may as well finish this sentence if I accidentally posted it. For scenes where characters explain legends or see visions, I'd go more surreal and experimental with the visuals, rather than reuse the old "stones in a sandpit" concept.

I contributed last thread, but I'll add another now. I'm not sure when I made this guy, but it must have been at least 5 years ago. Probably closer to 10.
I gave him multiple weapons that can all be stored on him or removed, including this sort of chakram thing with a representation of the Solis Magna system on it.

And here's another image with some weapons swapped around. The thing on his right arm combines with his "wings" to make a gun, because guns are fun.
I also remember coming up with some kind of basic backstory for him. I think he was supposed to be a Great Being who disguised himself and entered the GSR to pursue Velika, but I don't remember any more than that.

Judging by the background you throw an unreasonable amount of money at Vidiyo, why would you complain about misprints then? Just buy less Vidiyo dude.
>>
>>8977355
And here I thought me buying 10 of these lgbt fortnite fig blindboxes was bad. Telling you this is not something you should invest in. The next wave of blindboxes will have only few unique tiles, rest are repeats of wave 1. (That is if the product images are correct) Or maybe you found some beatboxes super cheap, in that case more power to you.

I'm not gonna rant and complain but this moc is a good example of a problem I have with a lot of mocs, being they often don't have a well-defined silhouette and seem like a blob of parts to people who can't pick apart individual pieces just by looking. My wife for example will often be confused by mocs I show her until I point out where everything is on a given piece, including heads, limbs, orientation, etc. I didn't really notice this as an issue until she got interested in my hobby and asking questions like that, so now I like to keep it in mind when designing.
>>
>>8983216
It uses too much white is the problem I think. Where one part ends and the next begins is not clearly delineated.

I believe that "value of life" is a sort of morality stat that determines how willing they are to kill (higher value means they will only kill when absolutely necessary). My point about the hips being too narrow is that the Vahki pelvis piece is the hips. You've bulked up the thighs nicely, but the actual point it connects to the pelivs is too narrow. I'm sure some people would be able to see the inika shoulder armor as the hips but to me the ball joint is the actual one - almost two studs narrower than the shoulder joint. As a general rule of thumb when desiging female-coded mocs I find that the hip joints being parallel to the shoulder joints makes the best looking proportions.

eljay-tier autism that makes you think your moc has to fill in every little space else it will look "gappy"
>>
>>8990040
Not an anon who does that because I don't have them. But from what I've seen they are mostly used to cover boney pieces, say for example those CCBS ones.
So I guess it's simply to give the moc more body and to cover hollow spaces instead of looking like a skeleton, provided you're not building a skeleton moc lol.
>>
>>8989998
Nice. I saw something similar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acnWy-tl3ng
>>
>>8990040
It's unironically best described as a meme; it's a technique that has been passed between different people via mimicry and without much explanation.
>>
>>8990040
Ignore the other anons, they have autism and their mocs most likely look like shit. People use tires simply to "beef" limbs up, sometimes, especially if you're going for a tougher, stronger look for you moc, you might wanna add more "meat" to the limbs. Tires are a pretty easy way to cover up the thin axle and fill the gap between the armor and the bone. Sometimes people use tires to add extra texture, or to break up the colorscheme/balance the accent colors.

Tires are not suitable for every moc though, you gotta know where and how to use them. People who slap 5 tires on each limb are retarded, but so are those who seethe at the mere sight of one (1) tire on a moc.

his silhouette is extremely aesthetically pleasing since he has more humanoid proportions than most sets. his colour scheme is great as well and pretty unique to him. he's also just got a big sword and no projectiles or gear functions, so people who are fine with only having poseability appreciate his simplicity. overall he's just cool, and while some people dislike him for the reasons i listed, I think more people lean towards liking him.

Well, people already began hating on him some time ago when he made an "all lives matter" post and asked people to be respectful of each other, for which some loonies in the fanbase labeled him a bigot.
Odd to think that years ago part of the fanbase turned on Greg and gravitated toward Faber as "the" Bionicle guy, and now for various reasons Faber's becoming hated on too. Maybe people like Bob Thompson made the right call by not getting too close to the fans.

People just didn't like his writing, they got tired of his BS retcons and plot twists, like the Red Star zombies, Great Being villain mastermind Velika or the Matoran developing sentience due to Velika's programming sabotage. But there was already a loud portion of the fans who hated his writing style long before that. Given that Greg used to be Bionicle's most public official figure, he got to be the target for all kinds of criticism, whether it was warranted or not. A bunch of fans even keep saying he ruined Bionicle.
And since Greg wasn't part of the original concept creators for the franchise, whereas Faber was one of the main figureheads of its development, there was a time a while after G1 ended that people just flocked to Faber and his original concepts and began bashing on Greg even more.
>>
>>8991675
>He moved on.

No offense, but that’s kind of BS. He still desperately hangs on to Bionicle G1 a lot of the time, constantly “canonizing” things that didn’t need to be canonized, going back bad making massive retcons to things that had already been established and accepted for years, making up off the wall answers to things in a poor attempt to make people think he even had an answer for it in the first place, attempting to de-canonize things even though it’s been over ten years at this point.

Seconding this. Velika mastermind is far better than the shit that happened in Metru Nui with Vakama and Makuta or Mazeka or Takanuva's dimension travels. Velika's scheming reminds me of MNOG Makuta.

So people were talking about bootlegs a thread or so back. It's always been something I'm interested in at least when it comes to ones with unique designs, and right now I can only find 2 that fit this category on aliexpress. Most are straight copies of G2 designs. Sad.
Look at these cute defenders. Can't find them on aliexpress anymore but they are pretty neat.

Yeah, some of their originally designed knockoff CCBS stuff is actually pretty neat. Like s knockoff, but orgibally designed Toa Ekimu, and a set some people call “Son of Kulta,” which looks really nice (which I dub “Skulta”)

I have all three of those, they’re super shitty
>>
>>8993405
They have a certain charm to them. I find that if you replace the parts that have official pieces and keep the unique knockoff parts they hold up much better and look a whole lot nicer. I have "Toa Breez" and "Son of Kulta" and they're honestly pretty kino

Why are the chinese knockoffs better sets?

Definitely Derrick J Wyatt. His simple exaggerated style allows for the most background character customization as well as changes/damage to characters. It might not be 100% accurate to real life/the toys, but it’s still great.

Anyone, as long as they follow what MNOG/Ghost did and NOT the Miramax movies. That means NO mouths, NO eyebrows on the masks, no exaggerated expressions. And avoid turning Teridax into a fat t-rex (that wasn't entirely their fault, but still).

And, while it's not exactly about your question, I'd like to say a thing or two about the soundtrack and get something off my chest. I've never liked Nathan Furst's work for the Miramax movies. There, I said it. It's technically good, sure, but the "epic high fantasy" orchestra music was such a major departure from 2001-2002's mysterious and vaguely intimidating electronic score and just didn't fit my idea of Bionicle at all.

Tl,dr: more MNOG/Ghost, less Miramax. And good lord no mouths and no eyebrows, I beg you.
Tl,dr the tl,dr: stop trying to turn Bionicle into LoTR for kids.

It does, actually. It's a rare one. I think it's a mispring but I'm not sure. Different anon btw.
>>
>>8995957
Probably a misprint. Bricklink doesn't show yellow.
>>
>>8996049
Bricklink doesn't show a lot of bionicle mask colors, most of the mask pack ones are unlisted.
>>
>>8996136
They're unlisted in Known Colors, but not in Lots For Sale, assuming they have any for sale.
>>
>>8996273
Which I suppose explains its absence. For what it's worth I think it is a misprint though, now that I think about it.
