ToyMarineMaker@gmail.com here, I'm loving all the finished up marines! Awesome work that continues to inspire me! I have a bunch of half painted guys I hope to get done soon myself!

More to come, working to mass produce jetpacks and I have like 5 more sister head styles in the works too. Chaos and some more cool models are on the horizon for sure. Thanks for all the support and I appreciate the feedback also!

The painted sax does it justice!
>>

People are going to do heretical things with that head sculpt.

Someone finally made and is selling a tech marine axe, so I felt inspired to go back to making a techmarine. I also picked up one of those overpriced shoulder pads.
I just need to figure out where to get and attach a robot claw, find some appropriately sized tubing, maybe rip off the the chest wings and fill it with apoxie sculpt, maybe play around with pla plate and either dye or paint all this red.

Wish McFarlane was making them Deathwatch instead of regular chapters if he's not releasing a full contingent of any single chapter.

Seconded

With what they could have saved on common parts they could make up for with Chapter adornments.

I'm guessing it's just a random chase variant of the red one like the gold/bronze versions they did in the DC line? It's gonna suck if so, because those were already kind of scarce and people will actually want these.

Star Trek got dropped after Wave 1 because Kirk and Picard didn't sell well enough. Picking out things like this instead of a more clean SM to decorate is mostly testing the waters to see if they would take off. The Necron didn't do nearly as well as the SM has and the SoB as well

Necron are pretty dull to begin with, and when you add in McFarlane's less than ideal sculpt on that figure, you get an unappealing package overall.
>>
>>8943880
The Necron could've been a pure masterpiece of sculpting and engineering and still wouldn't have sold as much, honestly, by sheer fact that it's not a Space Marine (but I wouldn't call them dull, despite for most part agreeing). That said the sculpt is fine and looks really good when properly painted, just the base paint job isn't most appealing.

I guess I really didn't like the proportions. McFarlane's sculpt looks really squat and has the look of having no neck. I would really have liked a leaner, lankier Necron, and most critically, I would have liked the face to be longer and slimmer. I would also have liked the green energy shits to have some sort of crackling paint detailing and to be more of a neon green (I know you can do this yourself, but the non-AP line should be able to stand on its own as-is).

I know this isn't quite fair though. I looked back at the New Edition trailer (which is certainly the source material for all of these) and the Necron in there DO look kinda bad proportionally. Oh well. Nothing do be done about it at this point, I doubt we'll ever get any Necron action figures from anyone else, and if we do, they won't be based on classic 40k either.

Nips have no concept of heavy steel plate and, or chainmail because never in their history has a major army ever used such things in mass combat in their lands. Westerners never steamrolled them until guns were invented so no samurai ever had to face off against the fully enclosed carapace of a knight in his physical prime. Its all decoration to them unless you're a weirdo armor obsessed autist.
>>
>>8946455
Uhh...

>>8946455
>No concept of steel plate armor

Nanban do gosoku. An adaptation of contemporary European armor designs, adopted by some members of the samurai class as a response to the rising number of firearms in armies during the Sengoku era.

Hell, even prior to this steel plate armor was being used even by peasant ashigaru in some armies. It might not have been as common as iron, but saying that the Japanese never used heavy steel armor is a straight up fabrication.
>>
>>8946470
>posts a movie written and drawn by weirdo armor obsessed autists that is currently busy letting all their properties turn into squishy shit.

Notice what year that movie was made and how no one in Japan draws inspiration from it? Notice how no nip artists that draw armor in anime shows and movies for a living don't come close to the quality of that design? Hell, you didn't even know there was a figure of that design. Did you?
>>
>>8946478
>as a response to the rising number of firearms in armies during the Sengoku era.

Now look at my post >>8946455 where it says
>Westerners never steamrolled them until guns were invented

As in no armor until guns were used. So no army had to face thousands of katanas and naginatas shattering or at least bouncing off a cadre of heavy plate / chainmail.
>>
>>8946486
My point is that you're making a completely asinine statement with no basis in reality outside of misinformed pop-history.
The peasant soldiers of men like Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu were outfitted with copper, iron, and steel cuirasses and helmets, and samurai, especially from 1543 onwards, were typically armored with iron or steel plates with light chain protecting their extremities.

Even in the West, your average soldier wasn't decked up in full steel plate armor. Up until the 16th century, a peasant militiaman was likely to have a gambeson/padded jack and maybe some chain, while a man-at-arms was more likely to use something along the lines of half-plate or lamellar. Heavily armored knights were comparatively rare next to men in padded cloth, leather, and iron chain.
>>
>>8946495
Steel armor existed prior to the introduction of firearms to Japan, but saw less use compared to iron and copper as a result of its rarity. Japanese warfare prior to the Sengoku period largely emphasized smaller, faster engagements compared to the larger battles seen on Continental Asia and Europe.
>>
>>8946498
I don't know who that is. I just like talking about the Sengoku period.
>>
>>8946493
So VOTOMS, Patlabor, etc also don't count?
>>
>>8946496
>most of Japan's feudal history is samurai cutting through all kinds of armor with glorious thousand times folded katanas making armor seem useless.
>faction's signature design is full plate gothic knight armor
>Nips artists that aren't obsessed with western armor consider bits of metal on the chest, head and knees as full armor.
>obviously they don't value full-plate aesthetic

There now fuck off with this obscure history bullshit that doesn't apply to 90% of what Nip actually believes faggot.
>>
>>8946514
Mecha are not powered armor doofus. They are tanks with legs. Next you'll say a man with a jetpack is comparable to a fighter jet.

>>
>>8946500
>Japanese warfare prior to the Sengoku period largely emphasized smaller, faster engagements
I like this post actually agrees that Japan doesn't use armor really because speedy victory is favored over big, long battles. Still tries to say the whole samurai armor eventually was made with metal, but it never got to Gothic Plate levels of protection / engineering which is my point.
>>
>>8946537

It works, I used 6x3s for my Stompa, while they hold do wish I had used big larger sized since the saw arm isn't as secure as the gun arm, but the head and other parks are in solid. Anything in that ballpark should work great for these McFarlane models, not sure of their exact scale though.

I always forget that the Word Bearer's have red armor. For a Chaos Undivided Chapter, it always felt like a very Khornish color scheme. But then the Black Legion have the Black and Gold covered and the Iron Warriors have the gun metal grey so not many options available I guess.

This shit never made much sense to me from a lore perspective. When in history have castrated men ever made good soldiers?
>>
>>8948296
They aren't castrated. They just lessen or remove their sex drive so they don't get tempted to fuck some thicc Xenos or turn to Chaos due to some Daemon thot. They don't undergo any of the major changes like those until well into adulthood anyway.
>>

>Alpha Legion
>Chaos Chapter
There, now that the meme is out of the way, I as a fan of the Salamanders, I am so annoyed at the fact that the Alpha Legion has the cool Dragon Scale stuff on their armor and the Salamanders don't. It looks so fucking cool and you'd think the chapter that actively hunts dragons on their planet would have more of a dragon motif in their armor.

That said the Alpha Legion is a great design and I'd be lying if I didn't say I kind of like to believe that they aren't a Traitor Legion.
>>
>>8948323
If they went that way with the Salamanders you just know they'd drive it into the ground like they do with Space Wolves
>>
>>8948340
Probably. But despite how dumb the Space Wolves obsession with Wolves is, they do fucking look cool. Embracing the Viking thing works for the Space Wolves. Its why the Black Templars are so liked too, they are fully embracing the crazed religious fervor of the whole Knight's Templar, Deus Vult, Kill the Heathens, for The Holy Land thing.
>>
>>8948346
This would require modern GW to produce more than a pack that includes two helmets and some plain paldrons with a raised emblem which is not going to happen.
>>
>>8948320
I bet McFarlane and GW are keeping an eye on sales of the non current stuff to see if it's viable to sell. The more Blood Angels sell, and the Lieutenant, the more non-current things we might see.
>>
>>8948357
To me they're just selling what GW wants them to sell. Anything GW is currently producing and focusing on would be what we'd get from McF. Their recent Ork reveal gives me hope for Orks.
>>
>>8948357
Blood Angels aren't current? I thought they were kinda evergreen.

100%. Todd has previously mentioned he was excited for the possibilities for the Warhammer license, but I bet he's treating it like he's treating DC, letting the licensor have full reign in hopes of building a good relationship with them, and possibly being able to do some personal/deep dive choices at some point. If nothing else, perhaps we'll see a Spawn inspired Ultramarine (paint), or perhaps even a Todd designed Ultramarine (like they've done with DC) as exclusives. Not sure how much the hard-core Warhammer fans would care, but the casuals would probably like it.

LOL, maybe back in 2008 when it was first created and ONLY for like the first few months.
Didn't take long for people to take up their brand loyalties to start their brand wars, and tripfags to start lording over the place.

Only difference between now and /toy/ up until 2012-2014 is the lack of community. Vague year, because it's hard to give a definitive point as to when it started to go to shit. Only a few threads on /toy/ have the same atmosphere /toy/ used to have.

Myself and a lot of people I knew had a great time on /toy/ being nice to others, and being treated nice in return. Nowhere on 4chan was every totally drama/troll-free, but for a long time, /toy/ was overall a very chill and nice place if you were willing to put in what you wanted to get back.

Sorry, but if you don't remember the brand wars with Figma, Revoltech and Figuarts, you definitely weren't here before 2010.
I had no horse in that race, as i don't give a shit about Evangelion waifus and all the generic schoolgirls being released that had all the weeaboos warring against each other.
Slowly their poison entered the threads i did care about.

Maybe you had a blast posting Shinki fanart to bump your thread every hour so you could talk about whatever inane stuff was going on there, but fuck if other people weren't angry about that spamming, especially since captcha and cooldown wasn't implimented back then.

There's a reason why Shinki shit was hated on /toy/.

Dont think i was spamming or shitposting in retaliation just because i remember that, I'm just pointing out that it wasn't as fun and games as you've obviously misremembered. Other shit was subject to that spam as well, especially General Noodles stuff, where he couldn't take a hint on when to stop.

Nevermind all the other idiotic drama with all the tripfags. Shit's worse than the moronic youtube drama, since people would harass them in normal threads. Note that i said "normal thread" because they'd create their own threads for whatever reasons.

Nah, you're just reminding me of how SSDD this entirely is. This shit never stops... aside from captcha and cooldowns. a mixed blessing.

You know if you buy a head from TMM and like cut off the extra bits on the knee pads, you'd have a Tactical Marine right? I get that people hate the Primaris Marines for various reasons, but for the most part they look no different from a standard Astartes.
>>
>>8952820
There’s lots of differences between them, actually. Someone made a super accurate smurf conversion that really shows how different they are. Hopefully someone still has that picture laying around.
>>
>>8952834
I'd like to see that actually. I know there are plenty of differences, but there are also like 10 versions of Space Marine armor and each of those have various little differences amongst themselves and they all still maintain the "Space Marine look" if you know what I mean.

But I do get missing pre-Primaris stuff. I for one am really fucking annoyed at the fact that they don't have Devestator Squads and Terminator Armor now. That shit pisses me off.

No, the dark angels do, but for some reason they gave the plasma gun to a blood angel. In the same way the blood angel should have gotten the bolt pistol / chainsword that the ultramarine got (who is the poster child for the two handed bolter). I know it's based on the trailer, but after the blood angel I'm expecting the salamander to come with a lascanon and the imperial fist to come with a flamethrower or some other such thing.

a very good number of Mechanicus would be like that, but not in the way people claiming 'gender is not binary' mean when they say it. No Mechanicus saying such a thing unironically would beleive that concept Gender is some stupid foolish unenlightened meatbag thing. Those enlightened in the ways of the Machine Spirit would likely feel gender has no place in the realm of machines outside of terms like 'male/female ports'. They would not be in support of someone trying to be 'opposite gender', but they likely would not be against it either. They simply don't give a shit because the trans person does not beep or boop like a computer. If they care at all, they would be more concerned with trying to get the person to transition to the far superior form of the machine. Who gives a shit about the fleshy bits between the legs, whatever they may be should be removed and replaced with a beautiful and orgasmic plasma pistol.

Goddammit Todd, you have so many weapons to choose from.
>>
>>8962690
Be aware that the picture is nothing official, it seems to be some combination of leaks and speculation. Also from what can be told, this is supposedly the listing for something along the lines of "SDCC Warhammer Marine", so it was at least intended to be some exclusive. It's fully possible he does just come with the original Sergeant's weapons, but it's honestly just speculation until we see it.

I'm just sitting here waiting for a Dark Angel, preferably with a unique weapon like one of those bolters with a cope.

What? Just because of the color scheme? Look at the Blood Angels he made compared to the artist proof versions. They have all those extra bits and pieces you have to remove. Nice job! If we're being nitpicky, that helmet doesn't go with that version of the armor though. Mk. >>8965642
You can put beaky helmets on any Mk of armor. Space Marine armor is an ancient heirloom passed down from Marine to Marine over hundreds or thousands of years. A shoulderpad from on mark ending up with a chest piece from another mark happens
>>
>>8965844
Hmm, yeah, guess so. Dunno why that never occurred to me. Probably because after so many years painting minis the "proper" configurations of all the gear are burned into my brain.
>>
>>8965657
Raven Guard marines used to test-field the Corvus armor (beakie helmet) because that suit is best-suited for their infiltration tactics.

That's why most of them use it but some have the more widely-used aquila power armor.

thats complete nonsense

Salamander Anon here
I'm disassembling the AP Sister, and here's a few things to look out for
>The head will pop off easily, but it will probably take the barbell joint with it. Heating up the inside of the helmet and cutting a small slit in the joint will make taking the barbell joint out very easy
>There's a sort of "collar" piece that goes into the shoulder joint before the arm itself. I don't know if it's to simulate a butterfly joint, or what, but it just seems a bit unnecessary.
>The bottom of the corset, along with the lower robes, are a single, soft rubber piece.the belt with the pouches, rosary, and grenades, is also separate piece, but that can be popped off of the lower body cover thing very easily.
>there's also some weird choices of where rubber was used, and frankly, it's really stupid. the lower legs, from the pointing knee guards, to all around The shins and calves, down to the ankles, is rubber. The gauntlets on the arms are rubber. I have no idea why McFarlane would do that.
>the backpack is removable, it just takes a little bit more Force than the Space Marine one.
>>
>>8966089
Sorry for all the typos, I'm doing voice to text. another thing I forgot to add, is that the belt piece has a appalling amount of mold flash on it. I'm going to have to spend a lot of time very carefully cleaning this up so I don't tear the thing, because the rubber on it is stupidly soft.
>>
>>8966089
The gauntlets are rubber so that the tip of the gauntlet can flex with the wrist of the figure. It's one of those considerations in toy design, do you make it functional (as in the wrists can still function in all directions), or do you leave it hard plastic as that wrist guard would be, but not allow the wrist to move in that direction.
>>
>>8965616
I'm considering just completely sculpting over the knees desu.
>>
>>8966089
the skirt being part of the lower torso is a shame

Finally managed to find an SP Sister. And the work on Celestine begins. Head is a placeholder until I get a head from TMM.
>>
>>8967603
Congrats. I've really been trying to hold back from getting more for fodder or something.

>>8967871
Nice!

>>8965616
This only convinces me we might get a more traditional looking version with a few slight changes to the base body. Gives me hope for future variety
>>
>>8968055
The only way we might get non-Primaris Marines is if it's going to be a Horus Heresy subline. For the 40k line its going to be only Primaris. And hopefully Chaos
>>
>>8968275
Shame but I'm loving the line so I'll keep going
>>
>>8968338
I just hope now that Covid is winding down the pace of releases will pick up a lot
>>

I like those wings. I wonder what else would be good. I got a pair of these evil batman wings that would look sick as a Celestine custom.

Yeah, they're from the Ult. Vulture ML. I wish they were just a tad bigger and splayed outward a little more but I think they're good enough until I can find something better. I'm trying to see if I can figure something out to make them a little more articulated, but I'll probably just stick to fitting them into her backpack. Gotta find a good fit for her halo and sword too. Gonna have to shave down her sleeves and fill in the gap from removing the bit in the chest. Not sure if I'm gonna resculpt her chest or not though as she doesn't normally have the Fleur-de-lis on her tits.
>>
>>8968437
ML Archangel wings would be bigger and more articulated

I thought about that but I don't feel like paying 45+ just for wings. Plus I want wings that go more out and up, if that makes sense.

Ah, to think, in my youth, during the heady late 90s, where nothing but Mk. VIIs (and perhaps the odd Beakie) covered the land, I stared longingly at the cool Mk. IV helmets in old catalog pictures and wished I could have just one. Now I can't stand the sight of them thanks to Primaris. Like a mother seeing the echoes of her dead child's face every time she looks at her husband, there's just too much history there now.

The bayonet was a nice touch over the first prototype. I’m hoping for more chaos in the future.

ToyMarineMaker@gmail.com here, I hope people like some of the new stuff. I've been working on more chaos gear but have to fix a couple printers so it will take me longer than expected to post those. Most instruments to come!

I'm trying to open up my ebay auction for international shipping, I'm working with a few users to get it to charge the right amount for shipping costs so it's not ready for everyone yet.

I got a star wars guy i'm going to turn into a guardsman with a helmet and lasgun and a little paint too!

The flayed ones look pretty rad, not gonna lie. That said easy pass for me. Hopefully we get some Chaos, Orks or Terminator Armor soon. Or just more reissues of the AP Marines.
>>
>>8974146
They couldn’t spring for a new sister head at least? Necron looks neat. No marine this time?
>>
>>8974154
>No marine this time?
Well, we still have the raven guard in >>8961902
But it might be the same thing as the Blood Angel Lieutenant, a walmart exclusive, or worse, a platinum chase figure like the white battle sister.
>>
>>8974146

Flayed One looks tempting.

That being said, I was expecting more skin added on top of it.
>>
>>8974146
I thought the flayed one would probably be pretty dull, and I was right. Not very ambitious, and it's got the additional issue of being based on the new Necron. Some old Flayed Ones actually had partial corpses strapped to their backs and shit, that would have looked so good in figure form.

Also, am I crazy, or is the AP a totally different torso and head mold than the standard release?
>>
>>8974290
It is different. Much like the other Artist Proofs where details are removed, like crests and what not, I guess they gave this guy different parts so they'd look more interesting next to each other.
>>
>>8974398
Wow, that's pretty cool of Todd, molds are expensive so that's nothing to sneeze at. It doesn't really make me want these boring Flayed Ones any more, but I acknowledge he's done a cool thing here.
>>
>>8974416
It's cool but let's not go crazy, the Flayed One uses the same bottom half as the Necron Warrior.
>>
>>8973479
Bro, those guardsman bits are awesome. If todd isnt gonna make guardsman any time soon I'd definitely try to make my own with your parts
>>
>>8974447
Still, good to know that if we get re-use that we'll also get new parts accompanying them here and there. Makes me think a bit of the Blood Angel mold with all the dings on it. They didn't need to do that, but it's a nice little thing. Shows there's some care going into this line.
