Are there any 2021 Playmates TMNT rumors, bros?

Yeah that was weird, you'd expecting them to tweet about it before they went up not after.
I wonder if they'll do another reissue once the factories open back up after CNY? From what I've heard is that the wave 1 issue was made while wave 2 was being produced as the factories still have the tooling.

>>
>>8776853
They highlighted this outright during a toy fair panel IIRC despite it being only in the comics
It'll likely just be
>Leonardo and Raphael
>Mikey and Donatello
All four as Rangers with Shredder also available individually
That last two pack might come with April but she's just a regular Pink Ranger without a skirt and I can't really think of who'd she come with aside from maybe Casey Jones or Karai who aren't morphed
>>
>>8777688
The T-Rex still has elements in it
You can see the Megazord's horns and those come from the T-Rex
>>

>>
>>8776853

>>
>>8777703
>April but she's just a regular Pink Ranger without a skirt
Yellow would have been better but I guess they didn't want to make one of the turtles pink.
>>
>>8777758
>Raph spent the leadup hanging with Trini
>Leo with Jason
>Donnie with Billy
>Mikey with Zack
>then they didn't become those rangers
Did this bother anyone else?
>>
Does anyone know if they release some different colored foot soldiers for the arcade set in stores? I really want the orange one.
>>
>>8777758
>>8778313
They likely just wanted to have the Turtles be as closest as they are to their official colors to avoid confusion
Yellow is close to orange
Purple has often been used to substitute black

With Shredder being separate, (and I never read the comic so I don't know who venus and jupiter would be)... does Casey Jones appear in this series?

Because alternatively, April could come with a little Megazord, or she comes with one of the turtles, and leo or raph comes with a bad guy ninja / putty henchman. I'm not sure they'd purposely create the april/ninja shelfwarmer.

tokusatsu is already a pragmatic way to adapt comicbook-style concepts. The helmets mean you can use stuntmen, so the handsome actors aren't taken out of commission constantly. If you're doing a cartoon you might as well do normal superheroes.

Space Police Department and Bacon Lettuce Tomato.
>>
>>8781435
yeah but if you use a familiar design you can sell new toys of old designs, which people will want even if they DON'T like the crossover
it's what transformers does with their 'evergreen' concept where like, the average schmoe has no idea what 'kingdom' or 'rise' or any of that shit means, but they see an optimus prime that looks vaguely like g1 and they buy.
regular TMNT for crossovers should look vaguely mirage-toyline-'87-2003. white eyes, normal armbands and kneepads, normal fucking masks. after that, you have options.
>>
>>8781446
>does the brown face still transition to a pink snout like the original? I mean the idea is supposed to be he has pink skin but brown fur, yeah? so as it thins out..
Yes, it's still brown on the outer face and transitions into pink.
>>
>>8781472
yeah that's the only one I'd care about. but it's neat they're acknowledging the old days
if they get to Ray Fillet will they just include three torsos?
>>
>>8781482
Monkeys paw: They release a separate figure for each variant taking up 3/4 of a wave.
>>
>>8781499
we got ray fillets for days n days

also: at least one of the three variants changed color in water, right? would that have to be yet another variant? or did they change into one of the others
>>
Why the FUCK doesn't Playmates rerelease the entire carded original line in stores? It would sell so quickly they couldn't keep them on the pegs. Kids love TMNT, adults love TMNT. It makes no sense that they haven't done this.
>>
>>8781514
There's 6 variants for Ray on FigureRealm, 3 of which with the colour change feature.
>>
>>8781526
They tried that at TRU
>>
>>8781528
How far did that line get?
>>
>>8781527
baffling. has anyone ever had an interview or something where they ask what happened there?
>>
>>8781530
The way some of these look, it almost feels like a miscolouration on some of them.
>>
How do I get into collecting the Classic line? There's so much shit to wade through, even more than vintage MOTU it feels like. 99% of the figures I find at antique stores/comic stores are missing their accessories. Do most people just collect them without their accessories?
>>
>>8781526
I would pay good money to get the Sewer Spittin' Turtles again without having to pay $30 for each accessory separately. The old TMNT line deserves a repro line of weapons.
>>
>>8781529
Not far. As expected, no one ever saw the turtles in the wild but the pegs were covered in april and the occassional splinter for a million years.
>>
>>8781529
Not sure. I was just starting to dip back into collecting the last year TRU was open. I saw a couple base Leo and Rocksteady, and a bunch of the military themed turtles (I think mostly Don).
>>
>>8781545
Picking them up local in second hand stores can make getting the basic figure relatively cheap, but accessories are always harder to come by. Little kids lose shit alot. You can get a lot of them on ebay but people know that shit is in demand and charge accordingly.
>>
>>8781551
I've been into 4 antique stores over this weekend and it's crazy how many figures I can get for cheap that don't have any accessories. They're on average around $7 per figure which is nuts. I picked up around 10 figures and the only one that had a weapon was mutagen man who I paid $10 for. I love how colorful the line is.
>>
>>8781551
I remember cleaning up my floor from my '92-'93 room as we prepared to move out, and filling up a whole gallon ice cream bucket with tmnt weapons. Those suckers just ESCAPED.
>>
>>8781556
i guess that's what comes from that combination of
>they made fucking millions of them
>but they also sold millions
theyre not rare, they're just rare unused
>>
>>8781557
It's always a wild feeling looking back on figures I had as a kid online and seeing the accessories I lost in the first few days.
>>
>>8781561
I know I mentioned it last thread but it weirds me otu seeing a complete samurai leo with the seemingly colorclashing red armor pieces.
>>
>>8781545
>Do most people just collect them without their accessories?
Mostly, yeah. If you're a hardcore purist, you'll buy them on ebay or something for a premium with accessories, or you'll buy them for even more money to get them "mint in box", which you secretly know means you're just making sure the accessories come with it for when you open it.
>>
>>8781587
also I have to imagine that, by this point, the old rubber belts / water reservoirs on the spitting ones / entire bodies on the movie figures are starting to decay/harden/powder/melt
>>
>>8781561
It’s so nuts. What the fuck was wrong with my little ass? I must have been a fucking neanerthal. If it was an accessory or a Mighty Max miniature I lost that shit forever within 5 minutes of opening the box
>>
>>8781612
It's just a thing with little kids, that stuff isn't important to them yet. Plus their spacial awareness is garbage.
>>
>>8781640
my toys were worth everything to me, they were teh precious
but yeah I recall I had trouble forcing weapons into hands sometimes. and if they didnt have some kind of storage, i mean, shit was gonna fall out. I had a fucking -toybox- back then, and parents were sticklers about cleanup, so.. in the box it went. I only just finally cleaned that toybox out about 9 years ago, it was.. pretty nuts in there. a lot of mysterious balls of wadded hair.
>>
>>8781654
At least your little brother wasn't pissing in it. That ruined a lot of toys for me.
>>
>>8781688
aw maaan that would suck. I mean yeah it washes off, but when it's old it's all sticky and awful, and presumably gets into all the crevices..
my little sister did break my stuff on the reg though
>>
>>8781545
>>8781587
Its a shame so many TMNT accessories are lost to time because there were so so many of them, and eery single fuckin one, no matter how small or inane, hd some playmates intern write up a name and descriptions for it on the package.
>>
>>8781729
yeah they may have skimped on paint (especially for the many miniature sidekick pals) but they sure didn't fuck you on quantity. No wonder they got lost, it was physically impossible to hold even half of their shit unless it was Casey Jones with his golf bag (the movie figure can't store everything in the bag at once, making me want to check again and see how much he was toting at once in the movie). It was certainly neat how the original sprues could double as weapon racks, but.. it's not as if they could stand up neatly on a shelf, even if you HAD a shelf.
and the belts were held on with pure rubber tension from a tiny little nub, so
>>
>>8781745
Movie Casey can store everything except the hockey stick, but I think it's too long for the bag anyway. The weapon racks were a wonderful cost saving measure which is one of the reasons why they could just jam pack the figures with extra stuff, brilliant decision on Playmates part.
>>

I kind of always Donnie being brownish.

It's reissue Raph not being lime green that really bugs me. Why is he never lime green any more?
>>
>>8782174
he's rarely LIME green in the sense of electric green, but the old toys were mostly a green that you could easily compare to a lime peel (though limes vary a lot) definitely not this.. 'greasy soap' green.
and donatello's always been brown, but it seems they shifted him a bit too red. more chocolate, less poop than he used to be.

Huh, I thought they'd do two two packs.
>>8783008
Same
>>
>>8783052
Nah in the Fwoosh interview it’s confirmed four pack, the frogs will be two 2 packs, released with some time in between them (probably ace duck) and chrome dome is absolutely massive compared to even android krang
>>
>>8783065
Ah neat, I didn't watch the interview since I don't buy the toon turtles.
It looks like a good set for people missing them, a few times I've seen people in here talk about how they're struggling to get the turtles.
>>
>>8782954
Cloth, so I guess I will be buying this in the hopes they are fully painted underneath and I can just tear their costumes off.
>>
>>8783076
They are normal underneath, giving collectors another chance at the animated version of the turtles but with cool accessories and the swappable head pieces.
>>
>>8783084
Hopefully this is going to be a neca shop preorder because there is simply no way target is ordering more than a few of these per store with a $100+ price tag.
>>
>>8782210
He was always kind of a medium brown mixed with olive green, still a green but distinct. The rerelease was just straight brown, no green in sight. Raph just looked sick.
>>
>>8782954
Far out dude, you get Michaelangelos Weird Pizza cap.
>>
>>8782954
I probably grab this just for alt heads. Then resell or recolor my turtles. I'm always wanted 1/12 turtles with different skin colors but Super7 ones is to tall for my collection.
>>
>>8782954
It kinda bothers me that the coat and hat aren't the same colours but not enough to deter me
>>
>>8783164
Looks like different shades to me on the show neca is still king
>>
>>8783198
Oh yeah it's accurate but still bothers me.
>>
I wonder if theyll do the lime green version of these disguised turtles.
I like the brighter green better, as their dark green "toon accurate" turtles are too dark.
>>
>>8783233
No way. That's not to say you couldn't put the coats on those figures, but this is definitely a "catch up" for folks, I can't see them doing the alt colors again so soon.

>>8782954
ah neat. I just recently saw chinese bootleg knockoffs of raph's trenchcoat and hat, with appropriate pants added, that fit these toon figures, and I was like 'neat. that's what bootlegging is for'
>>8782960
haha yeah they will never admit their nonsense has never added up
>>
>>8783144
>still a green
I would say the original was definitely brown-brown, but looking again, I can see how you'd call that 'still green' I mean... color labels are super subjective
>>
>>8783226
I feel like trenchcoats are usually this very light canvas while fedora hats are typically much darker brown... and yet, you have a point, a lot of cartoon characters wearing that outfit, it matches. Inspector Gadget, Zenigata, etc. They somehow got really light hats to go with their coats.
>>

Yeah it depends but normally the hat is darker than the coat.
I think the issue I'm having is is that the cost is too light, like if it was a darker color but not exactly the hat color my mind would go "this is fine".
This is all just personal autism anyway, I don't expect it to bother anyone else.
>>
>>8782954
Wait what the fuck yet another shade of green for these toon turtles? I was hoping it would be the same shade on the previously released hero/villain 2pack ones. Or the SDCC set. Is this another shade or am I just tripping?
>>
>>8783360
alright, with the mini turts, 50 bucks does start to make sense. I rescind my objection
>>
>>8783365
Isn't it the same colour as the SDCC box set?
>>
>>8783367

The turtles are the only team I've ever had that mindset get the better of me.

God damn. At Target today, they had at least a dozen Splinter Baxter two packs. I've never seen the Turtles or B&R, but this pack was fully stocked in the Neca section AND an end cap in the actual toy section.
>>
>>8786698
Let me guess, they were also less than 100 bucks each?
>>
>>8786710
They were at Target, so yes.
Like, why is THIS the set to get this sort of stock? Feels an awful lot like seeing all these ps5 controllers sitting in stores and no systems being available.
God, I hope if there isn't a preorder for the four pack, they're as prevalent as Splinter.

There is no way they will be simply based on the price the 4 pack will cost. A store will order twice as many of something that costs half the price because it’s easier to move. This 4 pack will be an absolute shitshow, no question.
>>
>>8786873
Is there confirmation that the disguise 4 pack is coming to retail?
>>
>>8786138
shit man, sorry to hear that, but dont give up, keep bugging them, dont let them bullshit you like that.
>>8786182
heres the toon diorama they had up for preorder.
and yea, how many times i told myself to wait on impulsively buying something, to wait for a deal or to simply mull over the purchase, and then lose out on a figure. so sad. but im not a rich guy so I accept that im gonna probably miss out on some things.
these turtles, i dont think ill be too sad to not have em, i do really like the interchangeable parts of the head, and thats the big draw for me. like i said, i prefer lime turtles over spinach green ones though.
>>
>>8786721
yea same here, i saw S&B and tragg and granitor at my local target too. i ended up getting them online before seeing S&B in person though. it was a real shock.
i know this sounds weird. but i think its because normies dont think splinter or baxter are cool, and that their height makes them too much like a kids toy (as if toon splinter or baxter would be as tall as a turtle.) it also explains seeing tragg and granitor, they arent really cool looking to the average person.
>>
>>8786850
again, it's probably the carrier. god knows what weird shit is happening in your country, maybe monkeys got in
>>
>>8786881
not bad, looks just like the old backgrounds. also just a good shelf. how much is that? i imagine theyll do one for the sewer lair too.. with that famous background sign that just says 'animation'
>>
>>8786996
They preordered for $150, I imagine they will go for a lot more on the secondary market.
>>
>>8787021
that's kind of a lot for some nice painted shelves. is there something I'm missing?
>>
>>8787340
They've released several versions of the street diorama now. The first one was with the SDCC movie Turtle set. They released one with a different paint deco later as a regular release item. I got it for Christmas in 2019 and I love it. I use it all the time. The most recent version is the toon version that was posted earlier. I'm sure they'll continue to use the molding for it and make more variants. I wanna say the regular release was $99. I got it from my brother who in turn got it from BBTS.
>>
>>8787340
It's modular, it's huge and deep and allows for lots of display options.
>>
>>8787762
I wish they'd release an "expansion set" for the diorama that added more options for the walls.
I'd like a broken wall so we can have a figure crashing out from inside the build or maybe just a normal opening door so they can walk in/out
>>
>>8787773
The toon version had some other additions the first two versions didn't and with the TMNT accessory pack, I can only hope NECA does something like this. They'd need to release 3 different versions of risk screwing over the people that have the exclusive diorama sets.
>>
>>8787773
I think they intend to at some point. I'd buy a set with a dumpster in it or things like that.
>>
>>8786805
>>8786829
This. If it's USPS they said waiting for pickup for a month from gamestop than one day it was here.
>>
>>8781992
Later in the lines life, not a popular item when released. I don't want to say it's "rare" because false scarcity is a thing, but it surely was not produce in high numbers like the original party wagon. It's safe to say it did not make it to a lot of homes.

A big thing with after market second hand toys, is they get sold when people know what they are. Every one knows the ninja turtles. At flea markets and such, it's just a big van toy.
>>
>>8787767
oh okay, it doesn't look very big. if it's huge and deep, then >>8787762 yeah 99 sounds reasonable.
>>8787773
this makes me think about when I was a kid and I spontaneously decided to just take a big piece of cardstock and paint a bunch of buildings on it, using cut out paper to make little opening doors, and then drew and cut out every character I could think of and made them populate the scene.. I think it was the last day of 1st grade, when they stopped even pretending they were anything but daycare and just said 'meh do whatever'
>>
>>8787863
i find it amusing they recycled the turtle van mold in a way that's pretty obvious but still did a good job of hiding it.. and makes sense since the channel 6 van is what the turtle van was made of in the first place (But in the cartoon donny did some fucking wizardry there)

Sadly it's pretty much packed away as I redo the basement. Tearing up the rug. Clearing some mold in a corner from a burst pipe and cracks from the stairs. I think I took this photo back when I repacked some of them in better boxes. Thankfully none of it got wet. I had two cases of figures. A few years ago I found two more at a thrift store for less then ten bucks. They were missing the inner plastic so I just used them for vehicles. Though I actually have original boxes for some of them too. I even put the Technodrome and Sewer playset back in the original boxes and into an indoor storage unit.

I let them warm up to room temp over the night and during the day as I did other stuff and they were all mostly fine.
Shredder and Mutagen Man had no stiff joints, only Bebop's elbows were stiff and for Leo it was just his left elbow and left knee and some hot water fixed that easy.
Also I have no idea how to get that shield in Bebops hand, I'm gonna have to heat the hand up a lot to do it, they really should have made the handle a peg imo.

Yeah his hand has way too tight a grip for a handle that small. The handle should have just popped off or something.

I prefer to play with my toys but you do you

Yeah, I get wanting to do the vintage accessory exactly but chanting it a bit would have been better and it's a shame Rocksteady will most likely have the same issue.
Anyway that aside I'm mostly happy with wave 2, they're all really nice looking, especially Bebop and MM, they're sculpts are great.
Also nice trips.

nothing you are saying is helping anyone or anything, it did not even address the actual question. You re just spitting out meaningless word soup in some weird effort to pretend you are smart somehow. when all you did was proudly declare autism to a creepy level.

Get help

Rocksteady's shield had a nice cylindrical peg in back. Being a SEWER LID (Fucker must have been strong), they had to just weld a handle onto it.
Bebop's trash can lid shield (lazy piece of shit, that won't stop much) had to use a trash can lid -handle- which are flat and basically meant for fingertips and thumb to gently slide under, or else a flattened hand. It's an unsuitable and uncomfortable grip for trying to present the lid forward as a shield.. especially for big meaty mutant warthog fingers. So that's their problem.

So anybody get any of the "Variants" re-issues of Wave 1 Ultimates yet?

Curious to see if the QC on Raph and the Foot Soldiers are better this go around. And what the actually "variation" is in the weapons.
>>

it seems to be realllly slight modification of the shade of brown of the weaps

my movie Casey has that seam slightly open, i was able to just push it back together. the thighs are still slightly loose, but no problem.
>>
>>8793998
It doesn't really want to close. I don't want to glue it. So I am just going to let it be.
>>
>>8794035
agh sorry to hear that. I would definitely glue it if the hips felt wobbly, and if they feel fine then yeah I'd leave it alone.

Between Super7 and NECA, looks like the turtle train ain't stopping anytime soon.

That's nothing

Jesus, is that number counting rereleases? Unless they're going to start doing 2003 or Next Mutation stuff I don't see how they're going to reach that number.
>>
>>8795150
between all the typical delays and 'the factory's fault', we'll get 25 at most
>>
>>8795228
That sounds like a more reasonable number, maybe the 50+ is just planned stuff rather than things they know for sure that'll come out.
>>
>>8793764
I'm still pissed I missed out on that. Why the hell did they tweet about them hours AFTER they went up? Fucking bullshit.

And they're really cutting it close on revealing what the new April looks like before release. I don't want to pull the trigger until I know for sure I actually want her.
>>
>>8795228
Thank you for showing what an idiot you are.
>>
>>8795464
Yeah the announcement time was stupid but I don't think those will be the last reissues of wave 1 since Thundercats is getting reissues of its 1st and 2nd waves.
>And they're really cutting it close on revealing what the new April looks like before release.
Yeah and the longer they wait the bigger the reaction is gonna be since people have big expectations.
I'm planning to abandon this place for awhile because we all know how it's going to be.

Saw these today and about shit myself. I know it’s a retarded price, but is this a fair price? I can’t even find listings for it anywhere.
>>
>>8795589
There is one listing on ebay right now for one that's $480 but there is no box.
>>
>>8793764
Waiting for EEs 15 dollars for one fig "Super Saver" shipping to drag it's ass here.
>>

Is that the number of different characters, or the total number of individual toys they're planning on distributing to every target in the US? (Zing).

Serious note though... who the fuck is left? 50 different toys? There must be a lot of overlap in there, like repaints and stuff. I'm hard pressed to think of stuff that hasn't been done yet.

I mean, for what it's worth, the company seems to have learned from their mistake quickly and are more open to announcing the typical month-long window moving forward.

I only caught it because I randomly checked BBTS and saw them on the front page, and ralph was still already sold out. Had to get mine from EE.
