I was a backer on the crowdfunding project. One of the key promises of the project was that backers would get them first, and that backers would have access to special colour variations exclusive to the campaign.

-They released everything, including the "crowdfunding exclusive" (that's the "CF" variations) versions at events in Akihabara a month before the release date which was when they said they'd shipped to backers

-Then they announced that they'd be taking pre-orders on their online store, and add special hand parts as a bonus for ordering directly from them. When backers asked if they'd be getting the hand parts they were told "lol nope"

-Release date came but there was a shipping delay and backers didn't get them until 2-3 weeks later

-The "crowdfunding campaign exclusive" models were never once exclusive and they just kept selling them at events, through their online store, and on Amazon (though they did eventually run out of stock)

The kits themselves kind of suck, especially the bizarre ball and socket shoulder joint. The weird (18cm) size also makes it so that it's basically impossible to get clothes or accessories for them, they're way too big for 1/12 and way too small for 1/6.

The three faces have the exact same expression and just have the eyes pointing in different directions, and there's only two types of hands (open and clenched fists). If you want the hand parts for actually holding stuff you need to buy the garage kit weapon set sold separately (which wasn't even released until like half a year after the first kits came out).

She is very good Brother but you need to watch out for her hair since it keeps falling as well as the ribbons in her pantie... underwear... these also keep falling regularly. Not really recommended but if you want, you can superglue these parts...
>>
Yey! New Thread Brothers! I guess instead of the usual reposts I'll post Original Content...

Here I show a locker! That's what is missing in this Classroom. It's so ubiquitous in Anime with School Settings it just had to be there.
>>
>>8772506
Unfortunately, the available 1/12 locker on the market is... small... too small! As usual, if you wanted something to be done properly, you have to do it yourself. A few hours later and I now have this FA Girl compatible School Locker. It's large enough to fit Frame Arms Girl Sol Hornet
>>
>>8772507
HECK! Is even large enough to fit two FA Girl Materia's... I'm still thinking of a future skit where I could utilize this furnishing but for now, it's comforting to know it's there when I need it Brothers...
>>
>>8772475
Pretty good, although I suggest a little customization - I used the extended jointed ball pegs from a white MD POM runner in place of her original ballpoint pegs, and drilled 3mm wells in place of the original hair sockets to make sure her new twintail pegs seated well. Could have countersunk the jointed piece better but I lack a 4mm bit for that.
>>
>>8772475
I don't because I have an awkward aversion for Brave series... But I want to ask a question nobody answered anywhere.
With half and half on Brave Girl armor out of Brave Series mecha (GaoGaiGar, Exkaiser, J-Decker, Goldran), which Brave mech do you want next? And do you think once we get all eight armors for Brave Girl, do you think we'll get a video game based on the concept with the girl as the main protagonist?
>>
>>8772827
I want Black Might Gaine and for them to finally give us a prototype of GaoFighGar Girl, and I doubt we're gonna get a Brave Girl game, the Exkaiser, J-Decker and Goldran armors are very lazy and I've never seen any images of people displaying Brave Girl with them. They're probably just a feature for the sake of having it be a feature.
>>
>>8772837
I also want regular Might Gaine or Great Might Gaine, but we would eventually get all eight of the main Brave machines (including Fighbird, Da-Garn, and Dagwon).

About 4 hours I think? But I work very slow. And I haven't put the other optional parts together yet.
I used a pair of hobby nippers to cut them as close as I could and finished off with a nail file since I don't have proper sandpaper sticks yet. I didn't go too hard cause I didn't wanna fuck up the plastic around the nubs.
>>
>>8774379
nice. I tend to work slow as well. it looks like you have good control with the file. I tried using a file a couple of times, but I like the hobby knife more.

I haven't built a FAG yet, but the Bandai human kits I've built like Ultraman and DBZ usually take around 4 or so hours for me.
>>
>>8774364
I think you mean you need a hobby knife, with some skill it will leave the plastic looking much cleaner. Improper sanding techniques can ruin a figure, especially when it isn't going to be completely painted.

Do I just scrape off the little nub marks? I guess I always assumed I'd have to sand it down with a fine grained sandpaper.
>>
>>8774467
Both. If it's easy enough to scrap off then you scrape it off. Then you need to use the typical range of sandpaper grits to get it nice and smooth. Because even if you think you're perfectly cutting the remaining nub off, you're not. There's ALWAYS going to be some kind of mark or blemish.
>>
>>8774478
Okay yeah, that makes sense. I'll pick up a hobby knife along with some sandpaper sometime so I can give this kit some tlc.

Any advice for someone who's never handled one besides practice on something before I take it to a kit?
>>
>>8774485
When you get a hobby knife I'd recommend getting both the standard type and a chisel type. I was terrible at removing the nubs with the standard type but the chisel type is perfect for me.
>>
>>8774821
Not him, but I'm the opposite with my knife tips. I can trim and clean well with the standard tip, but that's mostly because the only other spare tips I have are scoring blades. Would you recommend getting familiar with a chisel tip?
>>8774814
Get familiar with cleaning your airbrush. Practice spraying on spoons and spent runners, or even just paper. And have fun!

As far as nub removal goes, this is in my opinion the best knife for it. The blade is small, so it rarely slips from what you are trying to cut. I also like to break the tips off then round the top of the blade so it doesn't leave any scuffs on the plastic if you get your angle wrong.

I buried the blade in my index finger once. It was not a fun experience.

First FA girl arrived today! I really want to get started on her asap, but debating if I ought to wait for the HG Zaku I picked up to come in first so I can get a bit of practice working with kits beforehand. Any advice for a relative beginner before I dive in?
>>
>>8776274
I just started with kits a few months ago. When are you getting the Zaku? If it's in a few days, then I'd say wait so you can get more practice in. If it's a week or more, I'd say dive into the build because it sounds like you're really excited to get into it.

Also do you have your nipper, hobby knife and/or sandpaper?

Are bionicles an entrypoint into an interest in model kits?

>debating if I ought to wait for the HG Zaku I picked up to come in first so I can get a bit of practice working with kits beforehand. Any advice for a relative beginner before I dive in?
its always good to practice on something you dont mind screwing up on, but you can probably build the model just fine without it if you dont plan on painting it straight away/at all. Its just cutting and nub removal.
Im in the same place as you and the only thing Ive been unsure about is sanding down pegs.

Yeah, got some solid nippers and a hobby knife ready to go, and I went out of my way to get a pack of nice flexible sanding sticks when I got this kit, which arrived earlier in the week. I've also got panel lining markers coming with the zaku kit to pretty up things. The other kit was supposed to be here on the 12th originally, but I think it got held up by the snow or something because the tracking site says it's still a few states away. The site says it's coming on the 14th, but I'd be surprised if it did at this point.

>>8776668
I don't really know myself honestly. I was never into action figures or model kits as a kid, but I've always loved the shit out of lego, and even moreso bionicle. I feel like they don't really give you a good reference point to start from though, considering there isn't much overlap with how they go together, or what your end up doing st the higher levels of engagement within their respective hobby spaces. I've only very recently started getting into figures and models, but it's definitely fun to see them on the shelf next to my bonks, though the stark difference in scale is pretty funny to see coming from mostly a lego-centric background.

With how I'm feeling tonight, I'm thinking now I'm just gonna hop into the FAG kit tonight and not wait any longer. I've been really dying for a project to occupy me for a few weeks now and the anticipation is kill me. I'll make sure take it slow though. Wish me luck anons, thanks for the advice!

Klan with the Super parts is a bit nuts. Those huge boosters get in the way of her huge hair, and the manual seems to just give up for sticker instructions for the chest armor and missile pods, to the point where there's no dedicated stickers for the Armored chest plate? You can use 2 for the VF on it just about fine, a little bit but whatever, but there's nothing for the center section. Very strange decision to be honest. The only waterslide decals she comes with are eyes and a V.F.G logo, no generic SMS decals or branding like the previous VF-25 came with, which just feels daft.
Klan herself is pretty perfect though, no faults with her, and they did a good job with the Super pack itself, all the tiny verniers on the Boosters are seperate pieces so they're easy to paint if needs be, wish the missiles were a seperate piece but they're probably easy enough to slap a bit of red on.

Viola arrived rather quickly. So far, I'm actually rather impressed at how different some of her torso articulation is. It's certainly not perfect, but not as terrible as I was expecting. There are a handful of parts that have needed glue, but that's not a big deal for me. I'm just glad that the plastic is easy to work with, save for the red runners. She's probably going to be subject to some heavy modifications.
>>
>>8778821
Aye. The line isn't like, complete crap or anything. There's some interesting aspects to it. It's just that they should totally be WAY better than they are considering their cost and how long they've had to improve on them by now. Some of their designs are REALLY good after you've put some work into them though.

Still, the QRD was appreciated. Now that I've done the gauntlets (the reason I got her), I retract my acceptance of the plastic quality. Luckily, I think I'll paint them anyway. But the double-jointed elbows, the FAG/MD hybrid waist, pretty cool features to see. What's interesting is that taking a close look at some parts reveals how they were molded directly from SLA 3D-printed parts. Gives me encouragement to whip up custom parts.
>>
>>8778821
>>8779195
Like i said before, primula and voilet are not very good. The white and flesh parts are actually quite nice, but that is counter to the poor quality of the black, and shit quality of the red. Those red runners from those two kits have the worst quality i have ever experienced in a plastic model.

MEANWHILE, Voilet's red is almost perfect, and Iris is a great kit in most aspects. I only hope cosmos and the loli keep the quality of those two and don't regress to ball chan levels.

Also i find that thanks to how soft violas white plastic is, its it's really easy to shave down her sides to make the torso flow a bit better between the top and bottom.
>>
>>8779213
I may have to try Iris sometime, then. She's awfully sexy, so that's reason enough. Thanks, Nidy2D. You've got me looking forward to keeping an eye out for the new ones now. I really ought to lurk more frequently.
>>
>>8779213
>Those red runners from those two kits have the worst quality i have ever experienced in a plastic model.
Not who you're talking to, but how about the recolors for both kits. IIRC there are versions of each that don't have red plastic, so I'm curious how those hold up in comparison.
>>
>>8779414
I'm willing to bet that the other color variants are all the same. Any of the shinier runners felt bad to cut and clean. The shiny red, black, and white all felt like that. Any runners used for the main body were softer and more forgiving.
>>
>>8778782
As someone with back/neck problems, listen to this anon.
>>
>>8779414
>>8779464
All the color variants use the same type super hard plastic for those runners. The molds themselves are the majority of the issue since (especially on viola) the parts don't assemble the way they are supposed to without modification. Primula's feet and anything on viola that is composed of primarily red show this the best. Hell, the chest armor peg on my viola was broken out of the package.

To further elaborate on viola, her body is actually pretty good, albeit with some boneheaded design decisions. For instance, her leg armor locks her ankle tilt into an unusable position, it can still go back and forth, but the shape makes it so poses in anything that isn't flat footed will topple over from glancing at it. Her claws aren't toleranced properly, so the shit tier polycaps practically disintegrate from use. The armored head has big gaps between the face plate and ear armor where hair should have been, but instead she just gets big holes.

Primula, since she doesn't have any extra bits beyond a couple of armor parts, actually feels a bit better than viola. She isn't better than viola. At all. She has the same dumb ankle design, but with worse feet with pointless toe articulation. Bare in mind she has heels. A toe bend UP with heels. Her torso is more complex than almost anything spare figurize asuna, and it kind of works ok for a back bend, not much for forward but its ok. Her articulation is fairly normal, but she is pretty much a brick without a stand. Personal gripe, but i wish she had a shorter body type, it would fit her dumb happy faces better.
>>
Since I talked about the bad ones i might as well talk about the good ones.

Iris has two flaws. Both are fixable with moderate modeling skill. First, her hair joints suuuuuuck, they have long thin pegs and everything about them is too tight. To fix them, shave the peg diameter and shorten them enough that should pressure from the hair get to be too much they simply fall off. Not the best fix, but its better than fixing a tiny joint. Her other issue is some mold defects on the light purple parts. They aren't as bad as on viola, but are still a bit annoying. Other than that she is awesome, great poseability, feels solid, and is actually pretty fun to build. A stand makes her shine, especially considering how expressive she is. Great kit.

Rose is great. I have my rose on a stand. Rose needs a stand. She is super top heavy, her weapon modes are unwieldy, not helped by her armor jutting out in random directions. Her materials are alomst perfect, there is some strange stuff going on with some nub placement but its not anything i haven't seen on other kits. Some stuff is too tight, but nothing is loose. Aside from her head and torso articulation being blocked by armor and not being very good respectively, she poses fine, again her armor blocks a whole lot of poses. Her hair joints are realy ugly, her feet are super weird too. Her un-armored body has some strange proportions as well, wich is totally not made worse by those weird ass feet. She uses essentially the same arms as the other fiore kits, has very long slim legs and has a super short torso... seriously, her feet are almost as tall as her whole lower torso. God she is silly looking... I really like Rose, she is weird, but its a character filled weird. It's like some of the less humanoid zeon moble suits, shes unique.

Hello frens, i just wanted to check in and see ... which store is recommended for koto Fag/megumi kits, and any other kits to look into? I have a Gundam May kit wanting to be built, and I’ve seen the A.T.K. Girl kits on Zaku and I think youseegundams channel. I’m familiar with UsaGundamstore and HLJ, and not too much of a fan of AmiAmi’s site layout but I’ll use if recommended. Thoughts?
>>
>>8780091
Hello Brother!... You may want to check Mandarake once in a while because people who is unfortunate enough to go through hard times, sell their products there so you might encounter some out of prints kits there...
>>
>>8780091
AmiAmi has pretty much all Fag/MD and gunpla kits, but once something is out of stock it takes a while to appear again. If something is sold out then look on Mandarake.

First off i assume if your familiar with usagundamstore your from the us. Secondly >>8780117 is a dumbass, use mandrake as a last resort. You should be able to find most mass release kits fairly easily. Key is most since sometimes you may need to pop on yahoo Japan and do a bit of searching to find the best price for kits that have been out of print for a while.

Usagundamstore, gundamplanet, bbts, amiami, hobbysearch and hlj are the most reputable in my experience. They all have flaws, but its all your going to get stateside. Usagundamstore seems to have less stock than the others, bbts likes to cancel preorders, hlj has a website from 1996. Gundamplanet is well rounded, but is much slower in getting stock than everything save bbts who get stock a month or two after they say it will be. Hobbysearch is pretty much bootleg amiami at this point. Both get stock on release both have low prices, but then have nuts shipping that offsets the price. Amiami also sells "preowned" items at discount. This really just means the box is a bit dinged up or a part might have popped off the runner. The preowned stuff is great, you can get what is essentially a 60-80$ kit for 30$ sometimes.

For exclusive/limited/rare stuff yahoo japan is best if you wait for deals, lots of listings come and go quite regularly. I got the remodeling sets for lancer and launcher there for 100$ before shipping, and nightmaster architect for 70$. Mandrake has an alert system to tell you when something is in stock somewhere, but i find it only alerts you once the item is sold out again.

Don't use ebay. Thats a quick way to get ripped off. I regularly see the bullet knights on there for 200$+ wich is practically highway robbery.

Usagundamstore, gundamplanet, and bbts are all stateside so their shipping is usually the best if you feel like waiting for the kits while everyone who ordered strait from a local Japanese store has theirs already.
>>
>>8780396
If it where just the frosting issue using a hairdryer on low to gently heat the part should do the trick. Otherwise you'll probably just need to put some thinner on a paper towel and dab the topcoat off.

>>

Mandy will rape you with their fucked up shipping prices.

UGS is fine as long as you're not POing. Had my order fucked up too many times and they don't even give you a full refund for their fuck-ups.
BBTS is pretty good but unlike UGS, they don't have a coupon. Shipping is cheap though, so compare the prices.

For places outside the US, HLJ, amiami, 1999 are the places to go.
I mainly use HLJ because of their warehouse thing.
>>
>>8780644
As opposed to male plamo girls?
>>
>>8780644
Hatred?... Maybe some people are upset because some pre-orders are gone very fast (example, the Black Wolf Mech Girl from AmiAmi) and/or maybe expensive price but except for the horrible faceplates sculpt of Bandai Mecha Musume... I do not see any reason why hate Mecha Girls so much Brother...
>>
>>8780645
I'm with you on those choices, but I've never had Mandy kill me too badly with shipping prices, especially from their Sahra store. AmiAmi on the other hand not giving an estimate on shipping costs has fucked me over a few times, but having new, sale and pre-owned items all in one place is great. Just some swings and some roundabouts to add in.
>>
>>8780649

No, because of some graderaging shitposters
>>
>>8780659
U lucky then.
Mandy made me pay 4k yen just to ship 1 MD, 3~4k for figmas, and that's before covid.
I'd never use them unless it's something completely out-of-print.

As for amiami, I usually use hlj's estimate and add 200 yen to it.
>>
>>8780644
You mean the gundam girls or the entirety of ‘anime girl plastic model kits’?
>>
>>8780676
Damn, 4k yen? My last Mandy order for a FAG and some M.S.G bits was only 2k, and back last year when everything was real bad I got 2 FAGs and another toy for less than 3k yen. Weird there's such a big difference in prices.

Depends on region and what they’re shipping. Also store and what box size they even have available. Sahra is their warehouse so has everything marked accurately for shipping but everywhere else is a tossup on if the store employee stuck picking your choice off of a in-store shelf and packing your figure to ship it has a suitable box size available.

Mandarake is still a really good place to buy figures second hand in general. But there are better places to get still-in-production kits like most of the lines we talk about in this thread.

So glad all these kits are selling out in 5 minutes in the middle of the day while non-neets are at work.
>>
>>8784244
Honestly, they probably simply just never put any orders in for them. This could be for numerous reasons, but as somebody that has missed out on stocking his store with new product for reasons as simple as Bandai not fucking advertising when they'll be accepting orders I can see something similar happening here. I doubt HLJ and Amiami willfully chose not to stock them as the Sol family are guaranteed sales, so it was most likely something simple like this.
>>
>>8784256
Never mind, I'm an idiot. There are only 2. I am seeing listings for one of them minus the DVD
>>
>>8784426
Guess I'm ordering through a US site. Thanks, that's not a bad theory
>>
>>8784166
You keep posting your 'advice' when it doesn't apply to the majority of people in this thread. Most of us are pretty fucked with local sellers, gunpla is a niche and girlpla basically does not exist where I'm from save for literally two retailers who bother stocking Koto things and that means 'buying local' comes at the cost of rape markups and another two months waiting time just to twist the knife. Euros are fucked, Bonglanders might as well be told to get another hobby.
>>
>>8784563
To further your point, barns and noble as well as think geek where actually stocking some gunpla for the past two years or so. Around October they removed their displays and stopped ordering new stock. I asked the think geek general manager why they where no longer stocking gundam and was met with the responce that model kits are too niche of a product to stock. At think geek. Where they sell 50$ pvc voltron figures and have a 10 meter long funko pop display.

Outside of a specialty store you can't even buy gunpla let alone a model kit of a character from a japan exclusive game from a company nobody stocks products from.

I live in a major city. There is not one place in the whole city that sells kotobukiya kits. The next state over there is one. In the whole state. Its a six hour drive one way. "Just buy from your local hobby store" is not only ignorant of the countries other people live, but it's actually kind of offensive that someone who professes to love and enjoy this hobby would willfully ignore the situations that other hobbyists may have.

Moral of my story is simple; johincels advice is complete shit and almost always is.

Learn to read. You clearly didn't read what I had to say either. 4chan is deeply rooted in the English speaking internet so unsurprisingly a girlpla thread is going to be mostly westerners. Americans ITT struggle with merch being states (countries) away; the few British people in here don't even have that luxury or things like Think Geek (for that matter, the UK is almost a barren land for anything anime besides the most normie shit like DBZ and it's always statues at ridiculous prices or tacky printed T shirts). A few people including myself have asked about spare parts here and every time you tell us to go check a Facebook group or something. Most of us don't even touch that cancer but even if we did there's no one nearby selling off their extra faceplates and we won't pay ridiculous shipping just to half-used goods off YHA. I check Ebay UK for second hand MD and there literally just one guy flogging limbs for £10 each which is just insulting.

There's really just not much of a community in america. I've tried to sell extra kits on FB and craigslist, but almost nobody knows what they are or cares. You just don't see them around. I'm lucky enough that there are a couple of model shops around me, but even there they only carry gunpla. They've never even heard of Koto's model lines

>>
>>8788716
Definitely be excited. The little lady you have there is probably one of the only decent mecha musume Bandai has put out (it's definitely their best one anyways), and Koto's kits absolutely blow it the fuck out of the water. If you haven't picked a kit yet either choose a Megami Device or one of the more recent FAGs.
>>
>>8789122
awesome! yeah I've been scanning the in-stock and upcoming kits in the FAG and Megami Device lines. Pic related is one that really stood out to me, and I put an preorder in for it.
>>
>>8788716
If you're using the stickers for her faceplate, remember to get sticker/decal sealant to secure it properly.
>>
>>8789217
nice thanks for the tip. are faceplate decals common for FAG/Megami kits? I got the sense they weren't.
>>
>>8789253
By default all Kotobukuiya kits have eyes and mouths preprinted/painted, though they do come with extra waterslides if you decide to paint your kits. The Bandai kits are the odd ones out with making decals a requirement.
>>
How difficult are Megami Device models for a beginner to assemble? Archer looks neat, as do Exorcist and Tamamonomae.
>>
>>8789414
Some small parts, quite hard (and therefore somewhat brittle) plastic, sanding joints is advisable here and there.
Not as beginner-friendly as HG gunpla, for example, and cost significantly more.
>>
>>8789414
>>8789421
With the proper tools the smaller kits are essentially beginner level kits. Wism/chaos and pretty/ex are all relatively small simple kits. They are as complex as a 2010s hg gunpla.

I say this with the caveat being that care must be taken with the tolerances of the kits, a needle file is pretty much necessary.

A beginner building these kits must be aware of proper nub clean up as well. Two snips to nubs is needed to avoid ugly crush marks where the nubs where removed. This can be done in many various ways, the most common being cutting the part off with a standard nipper leaving a 1-2 millimeter nub, then cutting the majority of the nub down flush with the contours of the part with a single blade nipper (godhand/gundamplanet nippers are the most common). From here a fine grit sand stick or hobby knife is used to clean any leftover nub or mark.

If you have built very many kits or been to gunpla foums before im sure you have heard all this before.

Seriously though, the price for these is a biiit high, new fumina was a little cheaper and definitely came with a lot more plastic. May may not have been as intricate as these seem to be but she was less than 20 dollars.

The price is probably because of the license, but the dbz kits are cheeper too.

Well duh these can't be as cheap as Gundam related kits or DB kits. The numbers they sell are vastly different since those are insanely more popular than this new, ehh Bandai original? IP. They don't have the budget for entirely unique sculpts. This whole thing feels experimental. Maybe 30MM was the safer test to see how original IP does, this is the more risky step 2. Considering the context of the show, them using such things would be uhhh interesting? It's a late night drama I guess they can go violent with it. It's just so weird they're fighting each other and not some zombie horde or Putties type enemies.

>>8790839
Is there even a wave 2 for the girls? That means more teams, so maybe. Assuming 12 episodes, the kits are 3 months apart, maybe that's all there is.
>>
>>8790620
Always good to see them.
>>
>>8790867
Devices like that actually exist. They aren't for striking so much as making sure your gun isn't knocked out of battery if you do something dumb and end up grappling while you have a gun. Someone probably is still going to get hit in the face though, let's be realistic.
>>
>>8790867
There's only the single wave for now, but bandai is primarily a toy company, so if the kits sell well enough bandai would absolutely produce a second season/wave of kits.

Im half split on it being the gun gals ip. The name of this show is gun girls, thats too close to not be the same ip, i would think. Plus its the 10th? anniversary of gun gals to boot, so...

Redecos maybe, but we don't know if this is an original ip. The show may end and tell bandai to fuck off.

Shouldn't be possible to make towers of guns, a rifle can mount the small mc gun on top and one of the other comanders guns on the bottom.

It technically might not be by virtue of it being a tie-in with the show, but I can 90% guarantee that Bandai had a major part in the show's development. Bandai most likely are the ones providing designs and concepts and approached this studio to make a show around it, as opposed to them buying the license to make products of an existing property. It would be similar to how Sentai and Kamen Rider are technically owned by Toei, but the designs and gimmicks for them are from Bandai/Plex themselves.

Looking at the trailer for the show itself, the idea of gun girls transforming from human size to hand-scale is neat, but it seems kind lame for the small forms to just be the models themselves standing motionless. It would've been cooler if it were like K-Tai Investigstor 7, with the small robot girls being animated CG models interacting with the live actors.

I very seriously think that this concept would work far better as an anime than live action. Especially with how camp it is likely to be.
>>
>>8790620
I think i finally realized why this game looks so jank to me, the textures on the girls look horible, and the models themselves are really mushy looking. With the nice lighting and level textures the girls look like ps2 graphics.
>>
>>8791877
There already were two anime about high school girls playing with toy guns and they both bombed horrifically. Maybe they figure they’ll be successful if they go the live action route
>>
>>8790644
Asuna, for the piece of shit that she is, was about 26 dolars. That was for an ip bandai definitely doesn't own, and was a completely new kit that came with a full sheet of waterslide decals. These share most of their parts aside from upper torsos and parts of the head, hell the faces use the same molds even.

The extra cost probably comes from the tampos on the faces in all likelihood.
>>
>>8790867
>>8790940
These kits are already in two "waves", two in may, two in june. Given the style of show, there will probably be a fith commander, and an upgrade of the blue commander close to the end of the shows run.

Waves aren't really a thing to companies outside the west. For instance, thats why preorders for frame arms kits are one at a time, and not all at once. It has also helped hasbro specifically cheap out on the figures over time since the figures have to fit in with the others in their waves. Eg marvel legends and black series star wars not having extra hands and accessories. Transformers suffered the worst in my opinion though, since in the 90s when the idea of size classes came around there where five or six, alowing for multiple sizes of figures with differing levels of complexity. Now there are 3-4 classes of undersized overpriced junk.

You mean Gal Gun? I think the concept of this show and that game is far too different to be the same universe. Plus the names in Japanese one is ぎゃるがん in hiragana, this is ガールガンレディ in katakana, they added the Lady to be sure. I think they want it to be considered a separate thing.
>>
>>8791973
I think we both know that. At least I knew what the other anon meant with wave. You think there's a secret 5th? I guess it depends on how long but dramas are usually 12 or so ep in Japan? I can't tell if this has selling power after the show ends. Who knows it could be the best show ever made lol.

I think we see everything they've planned, perhaps more gun parts to push selling the main rifle, the most expensive product.

And for power ups, the grenade launcher gives them armor pieces so I bet there will be more attachments coming via different guns. But it could be all dependent on sales of the first batch. There, batch is a better word.
>>
>>8791877
Do we know if the actresses are already famous or if they have careers outside of acting (idols, etc.)? It might be that they managed to snag a contract with some famous drama actress and want to market that. Either that or one of the sponsers is a music label or talent agency and they're trying to push up and coming talent to give them exposure. Having some new idols be in the cast would be an excuse to make it live action instead of just having them voice act in an anime.

>>8791995
I could see there at least being new gun parts and maybe even upgraded forms of the main girls. Even if it is only 12 episodes I could also see Bandai continuing to release models after the show's run. IIRC there were seasons of Build Fighters/Divers that featured Gunpla that wasn't released until after the show ended. Of course this depends on whether the show/models do well in the first place.
>>
>>8792097
I got the same feeling that these girls are existing or new idol group, the theme songs will be done by them, all that media mixing stuff.

As for models post show, yeah it's been done and possible. But those are gundams. They might have more in case this does sell, but perfectly willing to never speak of if it flops.

This sudden reveal and the late night spot also screams low budget and promotion fees so I think they're not expecting much. For that I also think the cast are all new talent, much cheaper that way. Cheaper than animation maybe, if this is mostly shot at an empty school.
>>
>>8792097
>actresses are already famous or if they have careers outside of acting (idols, etc.)
I did a quick search and the main is somewhat famous actor (I have no idea but she's been in many stuff) and rival girl was in E-girls. I think those are the only "names" for this show.

>>

Apology if me explaning waves came off bad, people used to them may not be aware they are something largely exclusive to American and European toy companies.

My logic for a fifth commander is simply the 5th ranger trope, most shows designed to promote "toys" use it as a big draw late into the shows to either add excitement or drama depending how its done. Hell, it could even be a villain commander.

I did not notice the extra armor on the grenade launcher until you mentioned it. I can definitely see the big final upgrade being the main commander with a new gun attachment like the grenade launcher, just with more armor than just the head and arms.

No need to apologize, thanks tough.
I don't think this show has that kind of budget. And the true villains might be the commanders, them manipulating this death game and all. Except Alice Hatsune Miku of course.

I'm a little disappointed this show doesn't have costumed enemies like typical Tokusatsu shows. I thought for a moment it was bringing back that Tokusatsu Heroin genre that had its moment in the 80's. Those were more Magical Girl style though.

I can see the black one potentially being evil, simply from the color scheme, but the general designs of the pink and yellow girls really doesn't scream "villain" to me. Especially since pink is apparently the rival team.

The way the kits are devided up so the arms, legs, and parts of the head are shared would make it pretty easy to get more characters, hell they probably only need one new runner.
>>
>>8792376

Two of the gun ladies have costumes with visible cleavage which gives me a boner, so I'd say they made the right move.

Black one is the sadist, you're just pawns do what I say show me blood type of character. So I think her being the villain would be too obvious. It could be the Ryuki route, winner gets a wish (and hero wish everyone back to life?) or teams are from parallel earths and loser gets their world erased Bokurano style.

I think the trailer had a line like "don't trust the commanders" so I got that feeling. Like Madoka Magica twist.

The more I see these, the more I consider trying it myself. Anyone here have any experience with adding them to a kit?
>>
>>8792863
What is even the point of those top and bottom sets? Like which MDs actually benefit? They seem to be aimed at people who keep them naked, so is there any point if you want your MDs to actually use their armour?
>>
>>8794490
iirc all but the magical girl/witch have the hips not covered in armor
>>
>>8794490
What are you talking about? The new thighs not only look better, but add significant articulation to the hips. They also change the proportions of the kit further away from the old shinki noodle body.

The only kits that can't really make use of them is the asra kits due to the armored legs colliding with the thicker thighs, and even that can be fixed by trimming off the colliding bit of armor.
>>
>>8794490
All of them. The new thighs are 99% backwards compatible with all past MDs, they make them EXTRA THICC, better articulation, it's very customisation fodder so people don't have to buy a whole new kit just to get thighs in a certain colour.
>>
>>8794544
>>8794583
The crotch pieces being generic means they're missing detail the normal kit pieces have.
>>
>>8794678
I've seen plenty of people on Twitter use them with the girls' original crotch piece and they almost always look fine without any adjusting
