>>8676315Previous thread anons mentioned brand I've never heard of - Yatming. Anyone familiar with these? How do they compare to other 80s-90s diecast?
Can someone give me a quick rundown on Mini GT models?picrandom
>>8676508In the 80s (and maybe 70s and early 90s?) they were halfway decent. Not as good as a Matchbox or Hot Wheels, but they still had metal bases and opening parts and were somewhat decent representations of the real vehicles. The quality got worse and worse over the years, although they did keep doing licensed stuff. In the mid-2000s they had some "premium" releases that weren't horrible but also not that great either, and they were hard to find. Just browse through this page if you want to see what they've done: https://www.diecastgarage.org/node/484>>8676532Really nice, true 1/64, highly detailed, good quality control, and they all roll well. In the very early days their QC had issues but it's fine for the most part now.
>>8676532Hah! love that with the card board. Powered by rice tek. :)
>>8676557Thanks for the link. What the fuck with quality. Ones labeled 800 look like cheapest chink shit while 1000 are very good. Mustang Pace Car for example has clear headlights and a lot of details even hot wheels doesn't make while others look like barely recognizable cars.
A few cars
>>8676632Oooh nice f-150. Wish I can find one (looks like each and every shop in my area jumped straight to 2021 b case)
>>8676666I'm pretty exited to see how it does on the track
>>8676632My gut instinct, after fingering all these cars, is that the Haul-o-gram, F-150 and the Grand Cross might do surprisingly well on track
>>8676557Thanks for the link Anon, looks very comprehensive.
>>8676670The casting is very nice, but on track it does not perform that well. Not sure if its my f-150, but its average after three races is the 7th place.
>>8676532I kekked. Nice pic
1st of the year!
>>8676508Early Yatming was based. All metal with opening parts and bouncy suspension like Tomica or Matchbox. Later Yatming is pretty basic Chinese crap. >>8676532One of the best all around brands at the moment. Expensive ($10-15) but high-quality, metal body/base. >>8676632That Renault 5 looks sweet. >>8678023Congrats, anon!
>>8678084Yeah, it's a kind of a dream car of mine, had a Renault Clio 1994 as my first ever car, and loved it greatly, much more than many of the more modern Renaults I had the misfortune of using before being too fed up with Renault problems to own one ever again, no matter how cheap, but the oldie worked great, and that one looks like it but better and probably is as sweet to use as the 94 clio
>>8678023Cheers! And a really nice one too.
Anyone else like the texture and paint of color shifters? Its not really visible on the pics, but eventhough the base is plastic, the coating gives them a really neat texture. Reminds me of carbon somehowAlso, its pretty neat how some change colors just by holding them in your hand
Recent pick up, hoping they make more of the Glow Racers series for 2021 than just these two.
>>8679381>Porsche 914Nice. Here's a new backlog target I set for myself: The Diet Viper by Matchbox from the early 90s before they secure the licensing from Dodge.
>>8679657Man I really need a prototype Viper in my life.
AutoArt pls you've already done the Z, Blackbird, and R32. Just one more please
any of you guys collect anything bigger than 1:64?
>>8679974The Z31 has basically no options for models. I think there's a hotwheels one, that plastic Tamiya kit, and maybe another one, but nothing decent sized and diecast
>>8680118Better than nothing I guess, still it'd be nice to have something decent sized like >>8680021 since all the other Z cars have one
>>8680013Indeed I do. >>8680021Are those 43s? Based if so.
>>8679625Have you seen or touched them? Trust me, i hate plastic tops more than anything. But these feel solid to the touch. I cant explain it. And they look great in real life, albeit not on pics. Oh well, i guess im the only one. The changing of colors by holding and touching is so fucking neat too. Today i had a blue pattern that stuck for an hr on that purple car.
>>8680189Yep (and 1/24 and 1/18 in the mirror below)
>>8680189is that yellow lambo maisto? I might have the exact same one
What does /toy/ think of this casting?
>>8679381You're in luck.
>>8680595Ha! No shit! One of my favorite castings. Have the red and green Xraycers, I'll be on the look out.
>>8680595The Lindster Prototype casting looks pretty cool.
>>8679115I agree with you, I just wish they weren't so light and cheap feeling. Here's some stuff that was on my desk
>>8680678Love that metallic color on the Countach
Also, can someone please identify this car on the left? Points to whoever can identify the right car also.
Here's a few more really random cars from my desk
>>8680695I didn't know that Saleen came with 5 spokes. That might be a rare one.
>>8680413Autoart. It has a broken passenger door so I was able to get a deal on it.
>>8680684Zender Fact 4. Right is Studa-beaker based on the studebaker starlight coupe
>>8679115I agree. The color shifters are pretty neat
>>8680779Thank you! For some reason, this version didn't have the name listed on its base. I like this casting even though its a bit generic. >>8680720This car is the reason that the saleen s7 was my favorite car as a kid, I love these intakes and curves. According to the wiki, the first edition came with 5 spokes or split 5s, so not too special.

>>8676508I have a few Yatming cars and trucks. Mine have smaller Tomica type wheels, some have suspension, and the scale is printed on some. I've never had or seen a lot of them but they reminded me of older Tomica.
>>8679381I've wanted the Power Wagon but scalpers rape the shelves. Same with the Monte Carlo SS. As for Matchbox, were lucky to see a case hit the pegs.
>>8680570Love em. Any good 4x4 is wanted.
Greenlight vs autoworld jeeps, which are better?
>>8679115Not a huge fan BUT the color shifters do have the Nickel plated axels like the older Faster than Ever cars came with. Good for customizations if you do that.
>>8681633I got lucky for sure. The power wagon and Monte were at the bottom of the bin. I was about to walk away.
>>8681651Nickel plated wheels aka FTE wheel? First time ive ever heard of it. Thanks for mentioning it! It explains why ive noticed the wheels keep spinning longer when i spinned them Very interesting and definitely worth testing out on a track
>>8680678That awesome countach, reminds me of my latest package being delayed for two weeks because of covid busyness. It has a matchbox countach in it. It might be lost completely, along with a bunch of 2000s hot wheels. Feels fucking badman.jpg

Anyone got a really old model car they have in their collection?
>>8681640just buy both
>>8682731Well the oldest one I got is a Hot wheels Pontiac Banshee from 1990, in a fucking blister.
>>8682731I have several 60s or 70s ones from my grandpa. Might be even older, gonna have to check them again some time.
>>8682731These two are probably my oldest.
>>8682821Already did, hoping to install a trailer hitch on the newer jeep and give it a trailer to haul a car, otherwise, I wanted to hear feedback and see pics beyond the same stock photos.
>>8682731I don't have that old cars in my collection due to most of them being given away to random relatives kids before I got into collecting, but I have the Hot Wheels Nissan Custom Z from 1994But, the oldest car I probably ever had, that I can remember at least, is the 1969 Custom Police Cruiser from Hot Wheels. It was a hand-me-down from a cousin, among a few other old cars, and a bit beat up, and I distinctively remember struggling to push in the alarm light at the top because I did not like it sticking out, and it hurt my thumb a lot. Sadly I liked the body shape of the car so much I played demolition derby with it and basically beat it to shit with a rock for the fun of it, I remember flattening the whole roof and the broken window pieces being stuck in the car, and then just burying it into the sand and throwing it around and into a big rock, and then into a sand again and forgetting it there eventually until said big pile of sand that was at the end of the road was carried away to where-ever it was going, probably to be used in road construction somewhere.
>>8683630The custom police cruiser
Here's a challenge for y'all, what hot wheels look like the cars in GTA? (Specifically GTAV/O)
>>8682731I recently found this yatming Lincoln when clearing out old stuff, rear suspension is busted and I have no idea how to fix it but I still cleaned it up and displayed it since I love land yachts, shame they don’t make many land yachts in 1/64>>8680695That’s a swell thunderbird and bel air,got more pics of em?

>>8682731Few from late 60s to 70s. From left to right GMC tipper truck, 1600TL, Charger MkIII Concept, Capri, some car transporter, Javelin and Firebird.
>>8683873What's special about it?
>>8684290Honestly I have no clue, nobody seems to have any idea what this super special 2020 ZAMAC Hilux thing is and why it exists, why only the Toyota Hilux, why only in 2020 and so onThey do seem to be somewhat rare since I have visited countless of shops that also carry Majorettes and have only come across 4

I need help finding a very specific model from a very long time ago.It was a hot wheels, probably from the mid 80's cause it had those flat chrome wheels with the three grooves in them, the best I can describe the model, it looked like a 60's porsche or ferraria, or ford gt prototype touring car shape with the clam shell opened on the back, and there was a v8 with velocity stacks, it was a light / medium blue, and it had little orange triangle all over it that looked like pizza, or cheese crackers.

Even more considering that nowadays models even lost the originality of the OG ones, where yes, you can still easily get what inspired a specific car but still there where some original aesthetic cues mixed together. Today they are just bland knock-offs and that's it.At least hw fantasy cars (one can like them or not) are something creative, new, special in their own way.
>>8686267>what is so special about gta v/online cars?Looks good enough/as good as original model, loads of customisation, fun to fuck around on the race track.
>>8686267Have any examples of these knockoffs you're referring to? I can think of a few generic castings that wouldn't look out of place in Grand Theft Auto, including Matchbox's The Buster. Because the cars in GTA are actually interesting, unlike awful unlicensed die-cast.
>>8676315Just found pic related at my work last night. My first super of the year. I sold it to buy other cars.

>>8682731I have a few. If we're talking about the OLDEST of the old, it might be the Tyre Fryer (Blue car on the right), or the Lotus Super Seven (Orange). Unfortunately, the early Matchbox cars from the early 70s don't have much color variation throughout each year. So to low-ball the idea, these are from ~1972.Other cars: The Baja Breaker is heavily oxidized, but this is the original '78 paint. This beats the oldest HW which was a yellow Chevy Citation from 1982. The last one is the De Tomasso Pantera from 1975 when it first released.

Got this one from a neighbor awhile ago. Preddy cool. My father has quite a few Corvette's in boxes somewhere.
The MV Agusta with the Mahoromatic Maid is diecast too, which is really nice, even nicer when you consider it came out in 2004.Where's AutoArt fit as far diecast models go? Are they generally considered good or? They seem to have a lot of cool stuff and I've got their Devil Zhttps://us.autoartmodels.com/aamds.php

But I can't find it anywhere else, including Amazon, and even other AutoArt models after release go from $300 to $600 so I'm guessing they really do want 2.4kUSD for it.

I finally got around to picking one up today but holy shit that's a hell of a surplus. Why did this set fail so hard? I sometimes buy a duplicate hot wheels or matchbox to have a carded example of, but I have to really like the casting. I started off being a cardboardfag years ago but I'm now a dlmfag. >>8689540The only johnny I bought at Walmart all year. >>8689682There are many competitors in both resin and diecast at that price point. I know GL makes 1/18s but I don't know anything about their quality, I only have some of their 43s and 64s. >>8690988I think collectors are snatching them the second they see them. I haven't seen any since the case with the 86 and Alfa.
>>8691489>A man of culture, I see.I try.
>>8676315After tonight, this year has started off incredibly with about thirty cars. The three cars on the right are T-Hunts, and I have also found the StarWars Land Speeder, the Barbie Dream Carrier, and many others.
>>8692383That Silverado is one of the better regular treasure hunts we've gotten in a while, change my mind
>>8676315Started collecting again last year after losing interest, and holy crap, I'm glad I did. There's so many cool models coming out that I didn't have growing up in the 2000's, I've never been too big of all metal/rubber (though I understand the hype for adult collectors who are in it for collecting and not both that and playability), but I still have a few Autoworld/Hot Wheels premium. My go to is standard Hot Wheels and Matchbox though. Matchbox has always been my favorite. So much variety and the detail is killer.
>>8679381I'm honestly surprised I found the Bugatti first before the 914. That's the last one I need for the 2021 A case for Matchbox. For some reason when the Target employee brought the case out, I didn't see it in there? Maybe I didn't look close enough since I almost missed the Bugatti Divo inside.
>>8692710>change my mindNo. Treasure Hunts are shit.
>>8692986Imagine completely disregarding multiple cars because of a logo
>>8693080Have you looked at them lately?https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/2020_Treasure_Hunts_Serieshttps://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/2019_Treasure_Hunts_Serieshttps://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/2018_Treasure_Hunts_SeriesI think Mattel has been intentionally making them terrible to give kids a chance to find them.
>>8693198Unimog, Circle Trucker, Custom 56 Ford truck, SilveradoBazoomka, Twin Mill, Humvee, Stingray, Bronco, Fast Bed Hauler, 67 CamaroOk I admit 2018 sucks thought
>>8689491>>8691489Thanks for the input, I just need to get mine off my desk and I thought those cases looked really solid.
These arrived today.
>>8695369Dat blue Ferrari with gold rims makes me jelly.Good catch, anon.
>>8695617Thanks! Got it for around $3, not sure if that's cheap or not.
>>8695641>not sure if that's cheap or notIt's actually pretty cheap for a model looking this good. HW collectors community went full Corvette selling boomer after Ferrari yanked the licence away.
>>8695641Pretty sure that one is $12ish on ebay so that's a great price!
I've gotten some feedback that this is an interesting topic.https://youtu.be/hll84fIbLt4MiniGT is trying to bring back tobacco logos, but may or may not be doing it sucessfully. The Camel Trophy Defender 110 has the proper logos but they've removed the Camel script from the pre-pro images of this release: http://www.minigt.com/product-detail.php?pd=219
>>8697267Interesting stuff. I didn't buy the Spark 1/64 Rothmans Porsches because they did not have the Rothmans logos.
>>8695752>>8696976That's great to hear. Thanks!
It took me this long to find even a regular th, have they made them less common than before? If they have, that's pretty neat, they have been way too common to really be anything
>>8697808Congrats. This one is probably one of the best looking TH.>have they made them less common than beforeTry to hunt during morning hours. Not the 100% winning strat but it will increase your chances to get the stuff.
>>8697493Same for me. It's stupid. The assholes that make these laws must think everyone they represent is a hopeless idiot.
>>8697808Guessing from the short card, I'm gonna say you aren't in USA. There's your hunting problem
Found some nice rides at Wally World. And mailed off for my Gamestop collectors edition Econoline Pickup. Deadline is jan 30
>>8699080Yah, though if there's nothing else, at least nobody else seems to collect these and there are 0 scalpers>>8698619real hissing hours
>>8700066Or I should have said, nobody seems to collect the recent wheels. When it comes to collecting in general, I've noticed that people tend to collect old stuff rather than recent or new, as in all collectors I know of tend to go for old, beat up matchbox and hot wheels cars in flea markets and dream of finding redlines or other valuable old cars, but would not even know what a super treasure hunt is if they came across one in a store
The champ is being towed into place
>>8700163And this is the race track, excuse all the mess we're clearing out a storage room, slowly
>>8700165Sadly due to technical launcher limitations a few cars have to be excluded from the race
>>8700168And the current contestants
>>8700176Someone tell these two to stop being so equal, 5 draws in a row already
>>8700181Pile of shame of those who fell out on the first round
We have a live animal on track, maintenance department called for removal of creature so race can resume
>>8700189Fantasy castings are not doing too good this race, but the map of them is definitely the roborace robocar
>>8700195And the finals, also send help to the champ
>>8700196And the champ of this bunch is the french loaf, and now goes against the grand champ
>>8700200And a new Grand Champion is borned, congratulations Renault Sport RS
>>8687074That casting is a classic! The older style Matchbox are awesome.
>>8687022Restoration on these isn't extremely difficult. Drill the rivets, get some paint remover, and watch a few YouTube videos.
>>8687022The one on it's side is a older Mattel Hot Wheels Crack Up model. They had these back in the day. This I wouldn't mess with for restoration unless I was extremely good at it.
>>8700219I remember those, had a blue stocker smasher myself
>>8700079>but would not even know what a super treasure hunt is if they came across one in a storeHoly shit lucky you. There were so many scalpers working in a toy stores/toy sections in my area local HW collectors groups started blacklisting them.
>>8700208>baguettemobile enjoying the gold>while dodger shaggin' Scania truckfu
>>8700411Oh wow, that sucks. Though the only downside with my situation is that demand is not so great so we get cases randomly instead of every time a new one comes out and refilling the shelves is usually relying completely on if the worker at said store feels like refilling the shelf or leaving it as is, rather than always keeping the pegs stocked>>8700424Disregard truckfus, acquire gold
>>8700411I live in singapore and i had never once seen a treasure hunt in stores
>>8700208Love that casting. :) nice stuff Anon and nice dog.
>>8700208>>8700527i drive this in gt sport
HW collab with LB Works is real
>>8700213>>8700219I'm not planning to 'restore' it. I somehow like that totally worn paint and patina. It goes well with blocky body of old copcar. The only one I want to fix is white Dodge without wheels.
>>8697808>>8698619>Doge brosMy first rt/10 and my first TH. Not that i care too much about it being a th but since the casting with this livery looks so good, it's a lucky coincidence. However the paint looks so thick that it completly hide the head and fog lights>>8699197Are these sold only in US? My amazon only shows "sold out" pages of early waves
>>8700785What's the appeal of LW?All of their works are just slammed cars with oversized fenders. It's lame
>>8701036US is the main market. I don't know how much has been aimed at international markets
>>8701416>All of their works are just slammed cars with oversized fendersThis is the main attraction, cool shit slammed and EXTRA THICC.And kitschy AF.
>>8701416Surprise, retards have shit taste and like garbage.
I have huge collection of old 80s-90s diecast. I'm from post-soviet union country so they are mostly chink shits but there are few gems like Majorette or Matchbox, Siku, Corgi and HotWheels too, These were very valuable for a kid growing up behind the Iron Curtain - usually they were gifts from relatives living in the west EU as they were never officially sold there. Hoewver we had huge 15-20 packs sets of various cars. While there's no problem to track licenced ones, does anyone know producers of chink shit?I know brands like Pioneer and Sunny but that's it. Note that they are unnamed but still recogniseable enough to tell the model they are based on.
>>8701689I know they copied a lot of welly castings.
>>8681314I've always called them monocoque race cars. Since that is the biggest thing that sets them apart from other cars. The centered/singular seat of the car.
>>8701814>I've always called them monocoque race cars.F1 cars are also monocoque race cars. They are called LMP race cars now but I'm not sure it it was always like this.
>>8701923I just call them fugly
>>8701934Well, they are race cars. Noone cared about the way they look. That's why they are covered in stickers and ads. They are fast driving billboards and that's it. Still not as ugly as open wheel tho. I like road-going version os LeMans cars. Mosler or Nissan 390 give me late 90s/early 2000s supercar vibes.
>>8701953>R390 GT1[TD6 soundtrack banging in the distance]
Is green light too big? I recently received this 90s Ohio State patrol car, and it's nearly there same height as my tlv Terrano/Pathfinder. I doubt a 90s sedan is as tall as an SUV.
>>8701953HW is coming out with the r390 road car soon
>>8702550>>8702553Early Terranos are pretty small. I'm sure the GL vics are maybe 1/63ish but it's close enough for me.
i really like ugly shit. any recs?
Got my first Boulevard (and my very first Twin Mill) from a local hobby shop. Wish I could find Alfa-Romeo from the same mix.
>>8702682Yeah, go down to wal-mart and look at what's on the pegs.
>>8701416only zoomers like LB Works
Some highlights of a recent haul, Walmart felt like it was mostly the same 10 cars on the pegs, usually fresh every other week. But was able to come out with a Zamac and a random CVS stop pulled a TH at least.
>>8703215Deym I dig that RV There car. I need this particular version in my life.
>>8703215I don't get the Zombotsit's just a robot laying down with wheels on it
>>8703808Go back to trans gen
>>8703808fuck off, pedo.
>>8703842Do I get to take the Zombots?>>8703958You know you love it
I could never tell if i loved or hated the color scheme of the 1973 Countach from Matchbox
>>8702780i have the alfa romeo and its a nice car. i really wanted the AE86 from that set but lucky i recently found a AE86 but its a non premuim car which is even better because premium models suck for racing
>>8702780Nice, I should probably give up on boulevards being in any shop around here and just order one online finally>>8703215SIlverado, Bandit and Tankinator, nice, and the rv there yet looks pretty good as well, if only I could stop being salty about le fake middle wheels and actually like it, but I will never stop shitting on mattel for going the cheapo way, especially when matchbox and even majorette has no trouble adding 6 wheels to some mainline cars while Jew wheels jews out>>8703808which stands out among regular toy cars, not to mention it's a very oldschool kind of a casting capturing that 90s blocky robot looks. nice chink boobas>>8704244I love it, it's got that old school feeling to it where it could be an actual street credible car seen out and about, or a fantasy paint job for toys only, because it applies to both. I miss the times when color and tampo choices were like this, rather than the modern ones where you have clearly toy car stuff and reality stuff, and reality usually is just a race car with much advertisement or le black with a little bit of chrome lines here and there, and fantasy is just a diarrhea of tampos or a humongous cartoon character face on the hood that nobody would slap on their car irlBring back the retrofuturism, like a Lambo Centanario Roadster that's painted while with a black dot pattern on it, and then a few triangles of faded yellow and neon turquoise placed semi-randomly here and there in an unsymmetrical setting, and a single bright lime green off-center racing line, and then some text on the side in bright pink, in that swinging 80's disco style font. And gold color ultra hots for the wheels.
Ok everyone, post the best looking car in your collection. For me, it's this one, to me this is a race car done right. Great tampos, not too little or too much of them, nice colors and mostly red and yellow. Perfectly balanced imo
>>8704479Here's the car that came in close second, I like the purple and pink a lot more, but the hood, top and bed are just too barren. If they had continued what was going on in the sides and applied it sensibly on the top as well, this one would have been the more attractive one, but alas
>>8704479The only thing that's not so great is the wheels, imagine this with the black wheels that have goodyear on them in yellow
From the new 2021 corvette 5-pack
>>8704457That was refreshing to hear. I have a new appreciation for the wilder colors
>>8704480I find the circle trucker to be a neat casting overall. Though i think they fucked up the grey treasure hunt in pic related
>>8704689>>8704244Cool castings friend
>>8704667>>8704669Not saying I burn coal but that black car looks better than the white one>>8704689good old wild oldies>>8704691I like it too, but feel like it has yet to come out in a color scheme that does it justice properly. I'm kinda mixed on the th, on the other hand I like it, but on the other hand it's just so bland and mediocre
>>8704667>>8704669Dat stingray prototype is dope af. Sweet casting by itself, but this black body and bright red interior is and absolute killer combo.
For all the non-americans, how much are Hotwheels cars where you live? They used to be $1.6 for one but Mattel’s increasing the price to $2 for a car from this year. Feels like I’m being scammed, having to pay double the standard amount.
