Nine-tales and tamamo is a pair that you need.
>>
>>8675726
No, I straight up didn't like Nine Tails. Tamamo is really only tempting for the face plates and titties; I have the boobers and the faces aren't enough on their own.

>>8675707
The guy of the tweet you linked made them, and iirc the guy is not selling them yet

Oh wow. What didn't you like about her? Nine-chan is pretty much universally accepted as the line's best, so someone outright not liking her is interesting.

>The red and purple with pink hair don't do it for me
Choosing one or the other and a closer complement would've worked better.
>Horizontal boob strap is dumb
It's not even a tube top and the other options aren't a ton better.
>Armor is a confusing mess of angles in many configurations
The base Asra girls really benefited from only having a bit of chonk; this set cocks all of that up. I skipped Raptor for the same reason.
>The "so edgy, BLADES BLADES BLADES elite assassin" feel they tried to give her doesn't seem to sync with her clothing and some of the face plates are giving me whiplash
Seriously, choose.

I might've been able to get past all of the other stuff if the colors weren't off. It seems to me that Tamamo and Nine Tails have their pallets swapped.
>>
Brothers, I think Mandarake is being stupid right now but why am I being charged JPY5,000 for shipping various FA Girl loose parts totalling only 1.5K... I hope this is an isolated incident and/or a glitch/error on their end...

This is the same issue that I have with basically every Nidy design. The guy has great taste in T&A but he's also one of those guys that thinks tacking on a bunch of shit=cool.

>>

That doesn't sound like the same issue at all and I'm not sure I agree. Regardless, in this particular case I have to wonder how deep Nidy's hand actually went; did they throw they guy in a room full of MSG to design these new kits, did Koto help, or did our overlords just slap a bunch of shit on themselves, hire someone else to make faces and call it a day?

I imagine this is how it went. Basically something like "Come up with something using this shit we're already making." Nidy's designs tend to be cleaner on average when he does them from scratch (original Ninja/Archer, Iris, etc.) instead of modifying existing designs.

Been looking everywhere to scratch that model kit it h and it seems like, at least on amiami, most places are sold out of kits or pre orders close super fast. Like is this a cover thing where everyone picked up model building because they're in doors or is this a scalper thing?
In my searches I found a line I haven't seen spoken about around here, nor can I really find much info about them in general. Atk girls? Or e-model? Either way spider-tits caught my eye. Has anyone heard of them or have experience with them? Are they decent?

Amiami has some cheep pre-owned shinki's right now but a. They're pre-owned and b. I don't think they will satisfy this itch I have like a good kit.
Anyone working on something fun?
>>
>>8676070
A.T.K. Girls is the name of the line, while E Model (Eastern Model) is the manufacturer. I have a few kits from this line but haven't had the chance to build them yet, but from what I hear these kits are good quality and go together nicely. There's reviews on youtube that'll give you an idea of what they're like.

Heads up about spider-bitch there: if you can get the second version. The base kit is the same as the original AFAIK, but the faces on the new one are much better looking. Look for the "Ver. 2.0" on the box like the one in your pic.
>>
>>8676083
Yeah, I could look up a review, but I like to hear what you guys say; what people say in anonymity.
But also, thanks dude I appreciate you.

I own all of them. They are not beginner friendly kits. Pic related has you build the same finicky parts eight times, and the whole kit has minor molding defects throughout. Every a.t.k. girl has this problem to some degree, black tortoise mabe the least of all. (It's actually one of my favorite kits ever)

All said, if you know your way around basic hobby tools you'd be fine, and once they are built they are super fun to handle though the softer plastic they use (white especially) gets bent very easily.
>>
>>8676070
I bought a preowned kit from amiami before. It arrived looking almost brand new, everything is still sealed in plastic and completely untouched. This is just my personal experience though.
>>
>>8675958
What country are you in? Right now DHL is much more expensive for certain countries. Especially those that aren't the US, China, and certain European countries. You might also be pretty far from your local distribution center which can often tack on a good 1k JPY because fuck us for wanting lovely Japanese goodies.
>>8675990
Nope. It depends on package weight, how far it has to travel to the destination country, and how far away your address is from the distribution center in that country.

I often have DHL shipments that are in the 3400-3800 range for shipments including a kit or two and some accessories/doujinshi. Bigger things like master grade boxes will eek a bit closer to 4k. However, I also live in the US and am VERY close to the nearest distribution center.
>>
>>8676070
Never be afraid to buy pre-owned stuff from Amiami/Mandarake, etc. The pre-owned label on otaku merch basically means "yeah, it's probably actually in perfect condition, but if it isn't we'll mark down any obvious flaws on the product page". As for A.T.K Girls themselves, they're fantastic kits. Their faceplates are lacking, but that's largely their only universal issue. They're getting better with each release bit by bit though. If you like the design then get it. You won't be disappointed in your new plastic waifu.
>>
>>8675499
Business in front, party in the back Edition.
>>
>>8676255
The bulk of Mandarake's secondhand stuff is "damaged box" condition because they have crimped corners or subtle price label scars that get them rejected by OCD collectors.
>>
>>8675499
Are these model kits or action figures? How big are they?
>>
>>8676297
Depends what you're on about. If you're referring to the OP image, they're Frame Arms Girls, which are non-scale model kit ladies based off the 1/100 Frame Arms line of model kits. They're about 6 inches or so, give or take a bit of height.

Been collecting various import figures for awhile, figma, figuarts, revoltech, etc. but i've been growing bored with them and tired of the increases in prices with less accessories.

i've been eying the kits posted here for awhile and grabbed this one off amiami for around 4.8k there. this will be my first kit girl ever and my first model kit since i put together what i think was probably beginner grade gunpla in the late 90s early 2000s.

any one have this one? as a beginner anything i should know? Thanks in advance for your help
>>
>>8676424
The Volks girls can be annoying to put together, very tight fit on some parts that will need some sanding/filing. I know the legs on my Iris have a tendency to come apart as well, not sure if that's the same for Victoria there as well. Generally I'd advise you grab a cheap and cheerful gundam to get your bearings on before you jump into your girl.

They have better anatomy proportions and comes with the shoulder joint reinforced made in POM and ABS, for all the anons that broke that joint, mostly the C&P ones

Why does HLJ never restock Witch? It can’t be that I miss her every time. Magical Girl comes into stock constantly. How can anyone tell if it’s because Koto overproduced and they’re shelf warmers or the opposite, that they’re so in demand Koto keeps putting out Magikkos? Not gonna lie, it's kind of upsetting that your first experience with a plastic little lady kit will be a Fiore. Fiore are notoriously mediocre to the core. Cool designs, shoddy engineering for numerous reasons. It's not a problem if you're familiar with model kits in general and don't mind putting in the extra work to make them proper, but there's still more aggravation with them than you'd get from the other typical lines. Which is a shame since they've had a few designs recently that were pretty cool but dragged down by, well, being Fiore kits.

>>8676966
Magical Girl is the one always getting continuous production runs because the community overwhelmingly cannibalizes the kit for customs (she has one of the best bodies to strip down and build a custom from the ground up). It's not really a matter of which of the two people like more aesthetically. People kind of just started buying her up for customs, so Koto keeps on spitting them out like wildfire. I'm sure we'll see that slow down when all the body M.S.G option sets finally release and we're able to use those to strip down any girl we want for customs.

Viola and Rose both are average as far as quality goes, they require less work than a.t.k. girls for sure, they are like early migami device where the joints where so tight it they would shred from posing but filing the joints and shortening pegs rectify the whole problem.

Viola and primula are a dumpster fire. Nothing on those two work right...

>>8678193
Megami device, go for archer or ninja. They have just the right complexity where they are very satisfying to build and the end result is a fun figure to handle.

Frame arms girl, Gourai 2.0/kai or stylet 2.0. Both kits require almost no work outside the assembly process and both are rock solid.

Also I have no issue buying pre-owned kits, I've done it with a number of Desktop Waifus, but shinki's and the ilk is pushing it for me. If I recall my gourai was pre-owned as well and she too came as an untouched kit.
>>
I bought the Fiore thinking that if nothing else I'd have a head with 8 faces for a headless body I have. Given the response I've gotten this is probably going to be a something I fuck up as a beginner and that's ok I was ready for that to be the case so if I have to sacrifice this body to learn some things then so be it.

I think I want to get one of the MD archers. Looking at some things that's the first one that jumped out at me and seems to be recommended.

The ATK girls are amazing in design, but the plastic that they use is very brittle or too soft. Takes so much love to built, and it is something different.
>>
Skytube's ABS plastic in the Dark Advent kits feels a little different from Koto's formula. Is it the surface finish?

Also Koto's latest kits seem to have some newer blends of polystyrene in the runners. Ayaka's 'A' Runner (for her hair) has a slightly more durable and flexible feel than Old Koto PS.

They literally change the shape. The upper torso sets change the positioning of the oppai, the neck, and shoulders. It's supposed to be more accurate and "cute" now according to Koto (they're right). The waist set gives them the new booty tech (better looking butt) and better hip articulation.
>>8678193
Any version of Asra Ninja/Archer is good. They've got a decent amount of plastic, but nothing too crazy. The SOL sisters are the same as well. Pretty much all of the MD kits represent the line well, but these particular ones are pretty straight forward without having too much insanity for a first girl (like Asra Nine-Tails) and they -generally- don't have any noticeable issues as of their reprintings.

Speaking of Dark Advent and customs, this user found a novel way to make a flexible and barely transparent top for Krakendress. I'm not sure how well it would hold up to panel lining, but it's very tempting nonetheless.

I don't into moon-runes, whats the clear putty they pressed the chest piece into and what material is the "cloth", then how do they remove the cloth without damaging it/ the mold?
>>
>>8680113
The putty is Oyumaru, also sometimes called Instant Mold. It's a reusable modeling putty that gets soft when warm, so it can't be used with anything that generates heat like resin. The cloth material is wood glue, with a bit of white acrylic paint mixed in.

It sounds like he had to destroy the mold to remove it, because the glue piece isn't very durable and can't be pulled out of the mold without risking it tearing. There's probably a better way to do it, but the end result is cool so who cares.
>>
>>8680141
>because the glue piece isn't very durable and can't be pulled out of the mold without risking it tearing
Sounds like mold release would've been appropriate to use, or maybe even a silicon mold that's more flexible.

Noob question: Just received the MSG top set today and the shoulder joints comes in 2 type of plastic POM and ABS. What's the difference between them?

I think POM is stronger than ABS right?
But it also says paint doesn't stay as well on POM. Is that correct? Would it stay on POM if I use more layers of primer?
>>
>>8681253
POM is far tougher than ABS, and is unpaintable by normal means. However, it absorbs plastic dye very easily.

Has anyone else who has gotten krakendress rania had issues with several of the white parts cracking or even splitting?

No issue with mine, Quality of Krakendress is simply amazing,Built of the white parts were so easy, maybe it is because it is summer here in Melbourne, and the plastic is warm.

You either clip the pegs to a diagonal, make them shorter, or nip the peg slots once so that there's no more tight friction holding everything together. Just enough that it won't fall apart unless you drop it from a height.

>maybe it is because it is summer here in Melbourne
ok i'm kind of jealous because my balls are freezing here in the states
>>
>>8681273
Yes, its a known issue, it cracks from hanging. This is comon with pearl colored plastic especially when its used in joints and structural parts like krakendress.

The ball joints for the tentacles are cracking, aren't they?
>>
>>8681313
You need to thoroughly inspect yours. The sockets on the ball joints that hold the tentacles flexes too much when assembling, commonly resulting in stress fractures that aren't particularly obvious at first glance. Unless you took action to prevent that of course. The arm that connects the hood to the spine also has several break points to be aware of, but a break on these parts would be easier to fix than the socket issue.
>>
>>8681668
All three sockets, on both pieces, and the peghole for the armatures holding the tentacles. And the hinged socket that plugs the whole helmet assembly to the backpack. And the hinged socket that's in the front of the helmet piece. And the pieces on the side of the helmet into which the gold plastic sword holders peg into. And then all three ballsockets that are on the ABS spine piece of the backpack, the POM one is at least holding up there.

I've been trying to reinforce the cracked sections with a slurry of plastic cement into which I dissolved pieces of the runner, but it's almost like every time I come back, I find something else that's cracked. This really sucks, because the base figure is solid, and the design of the armor is gorgeous, and I put a decent bit of effort into painting a bunch of details in.

There’s white, black, A, B, C, D.
A is for ASRA, it’s the colour with the most yellow cast
B and C are hard to tell apart sometimes in pictures but B is for Bullet Knights and looks very pink toned while C is like milk-bottle white, for Snipe/Scout.
D is Koto’s orange tan.
>>

So
>A: ASRAs (all except Tamamo), C&P, WISM Assault
>B: Original BKs
>C: WISM Snipe, Scout, Hell Blaze Lancer, SOL Hornet
>D: WISM Grapple, Tamamo-no-Mae, Helll Blaze Launcher, Roadrunner, SOL Strike Raptor
I need to unbox Edel to check her closest match. Right now you can only get bare limbs in tone A but Tamamo will be coming soon.

They actually did improve a wee bit recently with those China-exclusive girls from that game crossover or whatever it was, so this one might be better than the stuff they put out before too. We can only fucking hope because I want them to finally get around to making some damned proper Gundam girls.
>>
>>8683301
>making some damned proper Gundam girls
That's probably difficult. From twitter staff chats there seems to be a dedicated CAD team for those gundam girls figures. No matter how good the sample looks it will turn into shit because the team is doing their own thing.
No miracle is going to happen if the team is not going to change their attitude.

>>8683388
I think everybody just kind of forgets about that one because of how utterly basic the kit was. It was basically just a "normal" girl with no accessories. Highly forgettable. That said the kit was pretty fine for what it was.
>>8683364
Agreed. These sorts of tiny details with rounded edges are an absolute fucking nightmare to paint by hand. If they don't want to do pre-painted parts then at least give us some part separation to make painting it easier. Bandai just wants us to suffer.
>>
>>8683364
Ah, but you see, color separation would require putting more time and resources into the kit, which in turn would require a price point higher than $30. And there's no market for that.

Nope.

No market for high quality musume kits whatsoever.
>>
>>8681896
I figured, when i put mine together i had already heard about the hood armature breaking in multiple spots, so i heavily reduced all of the pegs to the point of having almost no risistance.

I did not on the other hand, think of sanding out the ball joint cups until cracks started to form all over them. Fortunately, the sword holders on the hood where so loose on mine to begin with i dont think that will be an issue, to knock on wood...

On a note thats mostly my fault, while putting the wireing through the chest squid for the leds i did, i droped it the chest plate breaking one of the chest squids main tentacles. It was kind of a pain in the ass to fix...

The thing that kills me the most about this kit, is that had the skirts and hair been soft plastic (like the gn strips on exia) the kit would have actually been good. Well... good-ish i guess.

The joints are set up really really really wierd, she has this super far back disjointed backwards ab crunch but almost none forwards, and to use it the whole torso looks like it exploded.

Its like the designers had a pre made inner joint system planned for something else but decided to put it in asuna for some reason...

She can't even use the joints she has thanks to all the shit on her getting in the way. Her hair has this asinine ball joint setup that makes the hair almost imoble and her bangs (when they dont fall off) block any meaningful head rotation.
Using the white skirt means she suddenly has three ridged sheets stuck on her hips, and her red skirt looks like robot armor posed or not.
>>
>>8683534
The A-series MDs, Architect, and Baselard/Zelfikar don't have that stupid hair joint problem, or at least it isn't as severe for them.

>>8683527
Mixing hard and soft plastic hair parts is a recipt for discolouration disasters, even with paint. hard and soft plastics have different properties for retaining or being affected by paint. Better make it OPAQUE uniformly soft plastic and conceal POM joints where they won't show carefully.

It's strange how inconsistent Bandai is with their girl kits. The Build Diver ones I've built recently have all been fine, but whenever they attempt to do more than that they just seem to falter.
>>
>>8683607
Ok? Why are you telling me this? What does baselard/zelfigar have to do with bandais shit hair design?

This is a bandai kit, their plastic colors are "normally" dead on. The soft plastics on the 00 kits (ten year old models) are perfectly identical to the normal parts, minus some texture inconsistencies that can easily be gixed with topcoat if its even an issue. The part of the hair that gets in the way is the side bangs anyway, the issue with them could have been solved simply by adding a ball joint to the base of the hair. Instead they didn't and she can't turn her head.
>>
>>8683675
I really do think may was done by a different team, she has too much different from the others...
>>
>>8683471
Oh, no, you misunderstand. I'm not saying I can't do it by any means. I've been painting kits of varying production quality for two decades now. I just HATE pieces like this is all. Preference, really. I just like being able to take a piece and either mask it (this thing is way too small for that) or pick up the separate piece, do the job, and put it down. Though, admittedly, I realize I've gotten somewhat spoiled by kits in the past few years (mostly MGs and RGs) that separate itty bitty detail parts regularly.

Theoretically yes, im waiting to try this until mine actually break breaks, but once both sides break off im going to drill a bunch of intersecting holes and run solid copper wire through them then remove the detent from the cups so the balls no longer flex the socket assembly. The last part is the whole reason for this mess to begin with.

So uh... Brothers... about this Grandma Gourai... I really didn't have very high expectations about this but after I got my hands on one... I must say, I am impressed... the box may be slightly damaged and no manual or documentation is present but GOSH... she is a thing of beauty... as long as you do not mind the discoloration on the plastic. Without manual, it took me quite a while to figure out and put her together. With everything put together, there's no way she will be able to stand on her own with all that top weight added and the long gun isn't gonna help either so a stand will be necessary.

I have no context on Busou Shinki lore but given that she does have WW2 Germany things going on with her, I'm gonna assume she's one of the bad guys... a very cool looking bad guy (or girl).

Will I buy another Busou Shinki when given the chance?... Probably but only if it tickles my fancy and will not aggressively pursue them as vigorously as I did with FA Girls where sky is the limit because I know Busou Shinki is a deal line / franchise with no future whatsoever and using dated tech, it will only end up broken in my ham fisted hands Brothers and Sisters...

That's... an MD, right? Her and the priest-looking one are MDs? It seems weird to me that they're packaged with MSG parts for some reason. Are the heads FAG compatible? I might get one for that hair and to make resin casts of the titties.
>>
>>8686673
Yeah, they’re MDs. Bullet Knights Executioner (the one pictured there) and Exorcist, they’re known for being the two designs that recycle a ton of MSG parts.

I’ve never bought MSG before so I quite like the idea but others understandably think they’re lazy.
>>
>>8686673
>It seems weird to me that they're packaged with MSG parts for some reason.
They're just cheap alternate versions that are easily made

Kind of funny because this is what Chinese knockoffs were doing, making pirate copy FAGs with pirate copy MSG stuff and touting them as new original stuff, and then Kotobukiya just starting copying what they were doing.
>>
>>8686690
>>8686699

I personally like to think that I'm paying for the color matching. I don't like painting as much as others do, so offering the MSG in sets of matching colors with a girl is fine with me.

reforming or revoking of Section 230 is allegedly on the horizon, most think it will get removed since a lot of smaller players (Such as Parlor) won't play ball with what big tech and government demand of them.

If fully revoked all sites would be responsible for what their community did which would mean all chat groups and what not would cease to exist due to the company fearing lawsuit

In the early 1990s, the Internet became more widely adopted and created means for users to engage in forums and other user-generated content. While this helped to expand the use of the Internet, it also resulted in a number of legal cases putting service providers at fault for the content generated by its users. This concern was raised by legal challenges againstCompuServeandProdigy, early service providers at this time.[13]CompuServe stated they would not attempt to regulate what users posted on their services, while Prodigy had employed a team of moderators to validate content. Both faced legal challenges related to content posted by their users. InCubby, Inc. v. CompuServe Inc., CompuServe was found not be at fault as, by its stance as allowing all content to go unmoderated, it was a distributor and thus not liable forlibelouscontent posted by users. However,Stratton Oakmont, Inc. v. Prodigy Services Co.found that as Prodigy had taken aneditorialrole with regard to customer content, it was a publisher and legally responsible for libel committed by customers.
THIS IS FROM BEFORE 230 EXISTED

bandai has obvious signs of jewing rather than putting effort in quality anymore.

- jewing digimon with repeated little to no quality improvements and repetitive contents

- super sentai toys become blocks of meaningless and justifying its for kids

- kamen rider toys going jewish collect them all route ever since decade.

- at least 100usd or more for quality effort that isnt worth that much on many other releases in their p-bandai shops

it has become one of those big brands getting away with ridiculous prices for nothing much
>>
>>8687292
Not all is bad Brother... Bandai still releases expansion parts for Gunpla at relatively cheap prices... parts that are usable for custom kitbash and stuff and some of the modern HG is on par with part MG or even RG...

Most of their products in the entry level are of good quality and good price so we still have that to thank Bandai for...

That might only be one outing, however, considering the female Animagear contains the consciousness of a human protagonist in the story, or at least act as a remote communicator of sorts. It's a bit hard to understand Animagear's "story" because one, it's in moonrunes, and two, it's for very young audiences in the first place, so this situation might not last long.

There IS a 1/100 HG Epyon with a segmented whip that you can use. However, that one doesn't use a wire and instead only has hinge joints between segments. Unless articulation is wanted for her braid it could be cheated into being a solid piece taken from Edelweiss. Also using Inno's kit for fox ear parts as a foundation. The troublesome part is making her long hairstyle with articulation, it would have to be done like AGA Kaede.

For her tail, probably can cheat by using stiff wire from a Bullet Knight kit and using it as the core of a white fluffy tail keychain charm of the right size.

See, I didn't know this. I'm >>8688178 and not Johncel, and in my experience Wing kits have historically been available for pretty close to MSRP. I assumed that was still the case cause I actually got a 1/100 HG Epyon for about retail on ebay last year.

Also, I didn't know that the whip in >>8687948 was sourced from a much more recent kit since I haven't been following Build Divers. My first thought was to recommend something similar from a kit that I thought was still common and in expensive.

Sounds like anon plans to pin the sockets one way and turn them into fixed pinned (riveted?) hinge joints.

Also I checked Rania's runners from her instructions and her shiny white plastic armor is made of polystyrene (PS), maybe that's why it's not as durable as Sophia's entirely ABS dragon rigging.
>>
Anyone have experience back ordering from deepdiscount? Waiting on materia white and innocentia red, new to the hobby so im still trying to find the better sites. Didnt realize these were backorders
>>
>>8689470
Not even remotely close my dude. Pinning the balls would ruin the transformation.

>>8689427
basically, while the two side sockets are broken off, drill two parallel holes along the bottom edge of the middle socket and push the same diameter wire with a coating of super glue through the holes. Once the middle is done i glue the outside sockets back together and repeat the process of drilling two holes along the bottom of those sockets ect

Here is my shit diagram:

Top view ○=○
Bottom view =○=
Side view sockets unu
Wire side view _-_

Thats a really shit diagram.
>>
>>8689427
Also, remember, the sockets have a detent in them to keep the ball in. Removing that will remove all the stress on the socket in the first place.

Hindsight is a bitch though.

The wire should make the part stronger, it theoretically wont alow the part to crack along the bottom of the sockets anymore. Really, once the detent is removed it shouldn't break again since the stressed breaking the part is coming from inserting the ball.
>>
Before I forget to post about it; don't bother with the knockoff decals floating around eBay. Whatever material they used is resistant to the decal softener I'm using, so it's just as though I've laid stiff plastic over the face. Pic related. They're usually very dark too because to avoid a watermark I assume they turn up the contrast before they print these out, so it's just far inferior all around. You get what you pay for.
>>
>>8689727
>Really, once the detent is removed it shouldn't break again since the stressed breaking the part is coming from inserting the ball.
If you remove the detent, does the ball apply any force on the inside of the socket when you insert it? I haven't built mine yet so I can't say if this is the case, but I'd be afraid that the ball is wide enough to stress the socket by itself even without the detent.
>>
>>8689706
>>8689727
Aaah, so this would require that the part itself be not just cracked, but actually broken down into four pieces, am I following correctly? For some reason I was thinking that you'd like... drill holes on the sides of the socket piece use those to have kinda staple-shaped bit of metal anchored into the holes.
