You DID manage to secure the preorder for the MONDO Godzilla Tiki Mug, right anon? It's only a measly $65 before tax and shipping.
>>
>>8639011
I guess he's not really a capsule kaiju anymore, more like a mech, but the Sevenger Z figuarts went up so I preordered that. I usually stick to showa-era releases for toku and kaiju but it looks like a solid release and Ultraman Z is a fun show. Probably wont buy any of the other releases though unless they make kaiju
>>
>>8639011
Too bad you can never find these Hedorahs for less than $100
>>
Bros I really wanna get the 2002 SHMA for Christmas but the QC issues turn me off. How have yours been? Might hold off on getting a millenium SHMA until they make a FinalGoji one
>>
>>8639461
I think your best bet is to buy a preowned one and ask the seller all about the QC issues, buying a brand new one is a gamble.
>>
>Suit-accurate Godzilla 2000 figure never ever
God dammit, brehs
>>
>>8639745
Betting right now NECA was sitting on a 2000 sculpt that they'll never be able to release.
>>8639461
Want mine? Original run, eyes were decent, had a defect where the cap for the right arm was warped so it kept popping off .
>>
>>8639934
Mine has an arm that's always popping off. Is there any way to fix this?

Clearly
You start at the spine, and the hollow head makes a convenient nose hole
>>

Don't jinx it breh. SHMA will rise again, hopefully with less shit QC.

>>8639934

What this guy said >>8640884. You got go from his back, you see? Sip nice and gentle, pepper him from his to his shoulder with little baby kisses, then lick the back of his neck. And when he's almost complete and empty, just slurp his head. Then whisper in his ear, "I love you little Goj," and you'll feel real warm and sweet inside from his hot juices you drank so needily.

what's a generally good kaiju figure for a first? i want something big and COOL, anything bipedal is a plus
>>

NECA's Godzilla vs Biollante or Tokyo SOS figures are pretty fantastic firsts. Good size, heavy, great looking figures.

Take the X-Plus pill once you get your Trumpbux. Don't waste your money on SHMA.

Paper, nail polish, or floor polish.
Basically thickening the ball joint, at least on mine that's all it needs.
>>8641012
Understandable, plus it getting lost due to the plague is far too real of a fear.
>>
still trying to decide what Shin G figure to get. I'd like to have all 3 forms and have them scale with one another, but as far as I can tell, the only decent option for that is the ungodly expensive Sunguts series or maybe some amalgamation of Bandai figures. anyway, favorite Shin figures?
>>
>>8643735
Monsterarts is probably the route you want to go.
>>
>>8644637
Yeah, realistically that may be the best choice, though SHMA's take on the first two forms looks a bit janky with the obscene amount of articulation.
>>
>>8643735
The SHMA is a fun figure but the normal form has disappointing paint, and the Awakening version is very expensive (but the best looking imo). The frozen one isn't that expensive but a lot of people don't want it for obvious reasons.
Despite the normal one's issues, it's one of my favourite SHMA to fuck around with.

Not articulated, but have you considered the Banpresto prize figure? I actually don't know how much it goes for nowadays though but I remember it looking pretty good. Don't know about the other two forms in regards to options/scale
>>
>>8643735
There's the Shin deforeals
Pretty good imo, there's some areas that sell them for $100 but beats spending $400 for them
>>
>>8643339

We weren't ever getting a trailer for Christmas were we? Not just because of the legal thing. I mean the whole "Legendary teased a trailer for Christmas with their Twitter banner" thing just comes off like an unintended side effect of having a nod to it on there that they can't take back without causing even more backlash.

I think OP's just reposting leaks that were already out for some time. The snake thing seemed to be called Nozuki before the released ones had it as Warbat. Probably doesn't even get a name in the actual movie unless they did that in the reshoots.
>>
>>8648680
Wasn't it originally called 'Nozuki' or something like that?
>>
>>8642207
Both really good figures but King Kong vs Godzilla is still my favorite Neca Godzilla, he's hefty and feels way more expressive than the rest of the line.
>>
>>8643735
I have pic related for sale if you want it. Scales well with the Banpresto one which is my personal favorite. The XPLUS ones are too expensive and the figuarts are also not the best.
>>
>>8649067
I'm going to let that anon get it if he wants it, but what figure is this one? I dig it.

Ah probably a bit out of my broke student price range, but thanks for the offer anon. Looks like this guy >>8649139 might be interested though, very cool figure.
>>
>>8649640

Out visiting today, and one of them got me another '54 Neca. I have the 1954 already, and he's one of my favourite Godzilla figures, but this one is completely bollocks. He's got two right arms, something wrong with his back, a loose tail, weird scuffs everywhere, and of course he's walleyed. I guess I'm glad he came to me, instead of some kid who wouldn't know how to fix him. No idea what to do about his arm, though.

This. I remember in my good old hard times, when this kind of money was hard to come by. Now they're just throwing it around. I almost feel insulted.
>>
>>8663513
>>8663717
Shut up faggots. $600 is a small fraction of the money that has been stolen out of my paychecks by the government this year. The people who don't deserve the money are already getting it from unemployment, welfare, WIC, NEETbux, etc. Not trying to be political on /toy/, but even working people deserve to get their own money back in order to stimulate the economy. Maybe Godzilla toys aren't the best use of that money, but most people would spend it paying bills, buying household supplies, or ordering takeout from restaurants. Christmas is already over, so most normalfags wouldn't blow it on consumerist junk.
>>
>>8663513
How about you eat shit? The country is going into debt regardless, at least do it to help the actual people in this country.

It looks like the bill passed, even though the president is trying to make revisions to it (probably won't go through). Jet Jaguar is up for pre-order on at least one reliable site, to be released in June.
The three Godziban were listed on BBTS and other places as place-holders.
Some Japanese website called BicCamera listed the rest of them and the Godziban ones. I don't know how reliable BicCamera is, but several reliable news sites are reporting it so I don't see why to question it. Those may not happen till later in the year though for all we know.

Why is all of this getting so expensive? I was thinking about buying some of the older things a year or two ago, and now it's completely unreasonable.
>>
>>8690052
Demand vs. supply. If you got only 3 or 5 people selling it they can pretty much make up the entire aftermarket $$$ too. Not saying it's actually valued that high, but people tend to put higher price tags on items when there's hardly any competition. Also, godzilla merch is expensive because of how difficult it is to get a hold of once a production run is completed
>>
>>8690067
Godzilla is one of those franchises that have people ready to throw money like nothing. Same thing with Transformer collectors, Saint Seiya, Dragonball Z, etc.

>Same thing with Transformer collectors
I'm only a fan of one particular iteration of Transformers, but that did entail purchasing a 300+ dollar version of my favorite character, a different kind of plastic dinosaur than we typically post in here. I'm so fucking petrified of accidentally breaking any one of this fragile thing's paper-thin panels that I haven't dared to transform it yet. I don't know how you work up the nerve to do it with something like this.

My most expensive Godzilla purchase was just a little over a hundred. Granted, I stay away from the high-end stuff until there's a good sale or a great deal for me. As much as I love Biollante, I can't even make myself feel any desire for her Monsterarts. I hate this hobby sometimes.
>>
>>8690116
I can stop any time I want!
>>
>>8690117
>but that did entail purchasing a 300+ dollar version of my favorite character
...BW Megatron?

My most expensive SHMA was only a mere 13k pre-owned, which was a stupid good deal. Things like Monsterarts I don't mind breaking open the wallet a bit because I know they'll be stupid expensive anyway later on in the future, so it's either a 'I get it now or potentially regret' case and knowing that I can at least make my money back if I ever sell it.
Biollante is definitely not worth that much in pic related, but you haven't considered the reissue? Granted it's still expensive and apparently not as nice looking, but I think that's really the last chance to ever get her for an okay price.
>>
>>8690136
The MP BW Megatron, yes(sss). He looks great with my Godzillas in beast mode as he is, but maybe someday I'll attempt a transformation. I've heard bad things about SHMA reissues, and the price tag is still a bit much, but I have thought about it.
>>
>>8690146
I hope you didn't buy him recently, I would've just got the KO instead lol.
Yeah her reissue pricetag is definitely inflated, but she'll inevitably go back up in price (not as much as the original). Alternatively you can use that money for...whatever. I don't actually collect vinyls to know what other options you got for her.
>>

The Kiyru movies were basically live-action anime stylistically when you compare them to the older movies. Really, all of the Millennium movies were like that except for maybe Godzilla 2000.

SHMA isn't even worth it anymore unless they do another budget Godzilla, or a character you really love. I kind of regret preordering the Biollante reissue simply because it's so expensive. It'll look good with my NECA 1989s, but I don't think I'm gonna buy SHMA anymore after I receive it. X-Plus is what you actually want for something that is cool to display.
>>
>>8690498
I'm still floored at how bad the eye printing was on the re-releases. I don't know how you fuck that up.
>>
>>8690537
I'm sure the pandemic had a lot to do with it, since all this shit is made in China, and some anons have said that the price of plastic is also increasing. I'm sure it was just one cost-cutting measure they implemented. The paint on SHMA was already starting to suffer back in 2019 before covid, if not earlier.
>>
>>8690537
Eye placement has always been a problem for the SHMA line for some reason, although some releases were definitely better than others.
>>
>>8690498
>>8690537
I'm glad I'm done with the SHMA line. I doubt they're gonna make the few I want (not Godzillas) and I got no more display space for any other figure.

I understand it's more expensive to produce figures, but I'm not buying it with the quality:cost. There are many figures Bandai is making that haven't suffered a quality hit nor have they been as expensive (in comparison to prior releases).
>>
>>8690767
I liked SHMA, but the articulation is such a gimmick that doesn't even make any difference unless you're recreating movie scenes and doing toy photography. I'd rather just buy X-Plus to get something bigger and more screen-accurate if I'm going to spend that kind of money. I'm running out of space as well, and can no longer justify buying toys I don't absolutely have to own until I move into a bigger place.
>>
>>8687903
The trendmasters stuff has held up so well. I love the Baby godzillas so much. I buy them everytime I see one around the thrift stores.
>>
>>8690767
>>8690776
I'm happy with my SHMA collection but I bought things as they came out. If I were a kaiju fan getting into collectibles now, I'd just recommend xplus, so long as they have the room to display them. I enjoy articulation but the price difference between SHMA and xplus has become too small, especially at secondhand prices, and the articulation isn't that big of a deal.
>>
Is that NECA King Kong any good?
>>
>>8691965
I think so, for $25. I wouldn't want to pay too much more than that. He has a good range of articulation and is fairly good sized. I just wish he had a closed mouth and some giant handcuffs. Otherwise really good.
>>
>>8690776
I'm not the biggest fan of Godzilla or kaiju movies in general (I think they're just ok) but I have a decent sized SHMA collection. I buy them more as action figures than representations first and foremost so inaccuracy doesn't bother me too much.
I'm not even sure why I enjoy them as much as I do.
>>8691092
I've never paid retail for any of my SHMAs aside from SFB Kiryu, and there are rarely any figures I would pay the latecomers tax for let alone would buy over an X-Plus.
And then there's SHMAs like Gigan that are really neat
>>

Humidity tends to be bad for figures long term. Can cause plasticizer leakage and mold. Its why so many people recommend keeping a dehumidifier or keeping your toys in a cold, dry environment to keep them lasting longer.

Oooh, you collect boxed figures. I was like "how can a humidifier cause plasticizing to an open figure?" It really wont humidity a room that well but it looks and sounds cool.
