6 months to go from product image at a con to actually having it in hand. Sometimes it’s a year, like with Strong Guy. Since it’s a teaser image, I’d be very surprised to have it before August 2021.

>>8570584
Yep, zero new tooling here. Same bodies as the Space Venom wave Miles and the Absorbing Man wave Gwen. That’s why the heads look like the comic style. Honestly they’re not bad figures but if you wanted figures from the movie, they suck as representations. And they were hard to find so now they cost a fortune.
>>
We’re never getting a good Gwenpool, are we?

No it isn’t. Legends Gwen is garbage. Both of her heads suck, she doesn’t come with an unmasked head, and her legs look horrible. The MAFEX one is perfect like the other Anon said.

I don’t think you know what bait is. Quit fucking around Anon, we’re shitting up the thread. Just accept that I think Legends Gwenpool blows ass and that we’re unlikely to get a better one and move on.

I'm really glad I decided to get the rest of this wave, i love this lil gremlin
>>
>>8570802
wait, i thought that was someones shitty custom.

I thought that Headie Brock meme was stupid, but this figure actually deserves one.
That head is way too large for that body.

it's a bit tough because while they did a Sp//dr already as a BAF, it doesn't look at all like the animated version.

My dream wave for a volume 2:
Liv Octavius
Peter B. Parker (full suit w/alternate Squiny Eyes head)
Miles Morales (full suit)
Peni Parker (fully articulated so she can do spider poses like pic related)
Spider-Man Noir
Aunt May
Build-A-Figure Sp//dr but the Spiderverse version, and have multiple faceplates for the emoji faces (probably packed in with Peni since she'll be a smaller figure)

That it doesn't happen. Gun to my head I'd be good with an Octavius figure, but other than that, I'm good. Every character design in that movie ranged from meh to garbage.

>Pizza Spidey mold
meh, I'll grab him if i see him in store, not gonna work too hard at finding him.
>>
>>8571602
Why is everyone acting like Pizza Spidey is easy and cheap to find, where the fuck are people finding Pizza Spidey so easily for seemingly decent (i.e., sub-$40) prices??
>>
>>8571626
It's not that Pizza Spidey is cheap, it's that they have a much better new mold in the new Retro Spidey and they should just use that for Spider-Men going forward. Also if you wanted a cheaper Pizza spidey, the one from the first Retro Avengers wave was fairly easy to acquire for a while.
>>
>>8571632
I’m the Anon from the last thread who doesn’t follow Legends and just wants to collect a small Spider-Man family so I wouldn’t have known about it at release. I’d just get the retro one but the pizza Spidey has more hands and heads that I enjoy. I guess some eBay sellers just sell various Spidey hands though, so I suppose it probably shouldn’t be too hard to just buy more hands and color match them, I’ll probably end up doing that for Kaine since he doesn’t come with thwipping hands.
>>
>>8571644
Also is a pair of thwip hands even worth $13? eBay seller accepts offers but I don’t know how low is too low of an offer for a $13 pair of hands off of a $20 toy.
>>
>>8571663
gotta watch not all hands are compatible across MLs.

you could probably get a loose pizza spidey with all the hands/heads for $30-$40 if you look at ebay a lot

>>
>>8571833
HES EVOLVING! GET HIM!!!!!
>>
>>8571833
Not him but Superior is trash for a lot of the same reasons OMD was.

Spider-Man as a whole has pretty consistently been awful since OMD, with a few exceptions on books Slott wasn't writing. Things are finally really looking up for the first time in over a decade with Spencer's Spider-Man run.
>>
>>8571818
I hate those covers. Why don't they ever make them look like an actual Marvel Legends figure? They always give the character those crappy McFarlane/DC Super Heroes style hips, and worst of all, they often give the "figure" an amazing amount of accessories that Hasbro wouldn't even dream of offering.
>>
>>8571845
The artists they have drawing them don't seem to actually know anything about action figures. They straight up draw the character in a neutral pose and draw on cuts. And yeah the accessory counts would be unrealistic even for most imports at this point.

Gwenpool as a character is fanfic-tier but her actual series is fun and worth reading. Marvel should’ve done a better job at advertising that she isn’t Gwen Stacy (despite initially appearing as such on that Secret Secret Wars cover), and shouldn’t have tied her existence to Deadpool when the two have nothing to do with one another except for the time Deadpool beats the shit out of her.

The retro wave spider-man is subjectively the "best" spider-man because it has an added diapgragm joint. Though its neck and hip joints are limited compared to passed spider-men
Failing that, Spider-Man from the Hobgoblin BAF wave, colloquially known as 'Pizza Spider-Man' would be another subjective best

Unless you weren't just talking about Legends, then the 1st release Mafex is the best
>>
>>8572622
It’s literally just “what if Spider-Man was evil and this isn’t just a shitty throwaway what if story”. I don’t know why people were pissed when it happened, and I don’t know why people still think it’s a completely worthless Spider-Man story after half a decade of him doing the same shtick with relatively little innovation. Slott’s not amazing but Superior Spider-Man is actually different and interesting, and Slott may not write a great Peter but his Doc Ock is far better than most. Plus he made him an actually cool villain, instead of “The Wizard but he has metal arms”.

>>8572722
It would have made far more sense for Marvel to have pushed an Asian Spider-man over Miles. There's a far larger market for it, and Peter's traits (assuming they want to keep it similar to Peter's) of a science-loving acrobat would be very relatable to the average Chang. But unfortunately in Marvel's world there are only white and black and green characters.
>>
>>8570581
That stilt man head could be a really good 90s Wally West head
>>
>>8572832
And given the size, it could even fit proportionally on a McFarlane DC figure.
>>
>>8572824
There’s three black people for every Asian person in America. Bump that number up to six if you include Hispanic or Latino, which I do since Miles is half Latino, half black. And the comics are being sold largely in America.
>>
>>8572835
I was thinking of making a custom 90s Wally. But I have never customized a figure before

I will say that I had a friend bring me a gunpla of the OG Gundam, and between the one of it, Wing Zero, and another from IBO, I only needed crimper to cut pieces from the frames, and tweezers to help place smaller decals, and they all hold together like a figure. The only one I have ever had issues with was a cheap 4" one the same friend brought me the first time she went to Japan almost 20 years ago.

Yeah, it’s just that some molds are better than others, and the better molds of in-demand characters tend to become more expensive on the aftermarket. Personally, I think they should just take the best molds of their most iconic characters, i.e. Spidey, Venom, Avengers, Wolverine, Cyclops, and just indefinitely produce them as part of their own ongoing Legends line, but I know they’ll never do that.

Were there any particularly bad QC issues with this figure? Probably zero. At best I can see them doing a season 1-2 Wolverine in the orange costume but that's kind of it. It's a great show but traditional X-Men fans hated it when it came out and never gave it a chance, so it's always carried this weird stigma of being the redheaded stepchild of X-Men shows.

Incidentally, Wolverine and the X-Men was made by the exact same creative team except they had much less creative freedom. So if WATX feels like it was designed by committee at Marvel to shove in as much shit as possible, it's because it literally was.

what gave you the idea that they're coomer toys?

But yeah what you see is what you get with the AY toys. I have greatly enjoyed my AY Spider-Man but it did take a few days of in-hand posing to get used to the revo joints. I'm less thrilled with the AY Venom because he falls apart easy (I guess because his parts are chunky).
>>
>>8570920
What's wrong with him is that Hasbro cheaped out as usual. Spider Verse was incredibly stylized, and Hasbro knew they wouldn't be able to reuse those molds for anything else, so they just used their standard buck and proportions, which looks totally wrong. Even then, they could maybe have still pulled this mess out by exaggerating the size of his hands and feet more, but nah, they're still half-trying to adhere to the relatively realistic style standard they've set for Marvel Legends. It's just a half-assed product.

I have the Mafexes on preorder, but god damn, this actually looks even better. My only real issue is that I don't care for the sorta dopey expression that they gave his unmasked head, and he only comes with one (Mafex has one with the mask rolled up as well).

The sculpted clothes actually look great though, and all the clothing colors are more accurate than the Mafex.
>>

The engineering is top notch, Yamaguchi's figures always have insane poseability in mind and are engineered toward that end (sometimes to the detriment of gappiness/sculpt, but this has gotten a lot better in recent years). If you want figures that can do incredibly deep, compressed poses that pretty much no other line on the market can manage, then yeah, this is the line for you.
>>
>>8575505
In other words, stay away from it. The line sucks.
>>
>>8575475
Yea ideally I wanted both but I think the Sentinel just cuts a really nice silhouette, especially with the knees. And while it's probably minor to others, the fact that they gave him the cartoony looking fingers on the alt hands is the detail that settled it for me. I also like his accessories more. I wish he did have more faces but eh, I can deal with is. There's some good 3D models of the characters out there that I'm betting some third party guys might make some alternate heads.

Also since I'll have the Legends Peter B Parker for now, the sculpted clothes will mesh together better when they're on display together. I hope Sentinel does their own Peter and Gwen and hopefully Olivia. I'll definitely grab them.

Like >>8575490 said, aside from Spider-Man, which was the first figure and had some truly bizarre design decisions, I have found most of them to be very enjoyable and dynamic figures with endless play and posing value. If you're not into that, and want a really "perfect" looking figure with no seams or obvious gaps and shit that can just sit in a Detolf looking nice, then maybe it's not the line for you.

No no! That was also one of the crucial selling points for me! The Mafex hands look kind of generic, flat, and pseudo-"realistic," like they didn't really stylize them and they feel too small. Sentinel really put some nice angularity into the fingers and the base of the thumb where it meets the palm, you can feel the compressed energy there. A good hand sculpt is really important to me, hands are such expressive things and add so much to a figure.

I sorta do think Yamaguchi figures aren't for everyone. The super stylized sculpts aren't everyone's bag, and like I noted, very visible joints and occasional gappiness aren't really seen as a huge problem for the line, it's all in service of the range of motion. He also has this problem less these days, but a lot of his older sculpts especially flat out look bad when standing in a boring "neutral" stance. They're made to be dynamically posed, and if not used as such, can look like crap.

You can still enjoy them if you're not great at posing. But that is where the most enjoyment for them lies. And if you already know that you would rather have a more "display" type figure, it's probably best to gravitate towards that rather than figures that don't mind looking very toyetic for the sake of features you don't even care about.

x-men evolution is awesome because
1) the unique designs
2) 00s aestetics with goths and trashy looking teenagers of that era
3) the relationship of people of that age and the whole idea of feeling like an outcast/minorities problems because X-men usually was talking about these issues a lot so many fans could relate to that (from lonely nerds to actual minorities)

Probably slim. She's regarded as the breakout character of the show and there's a misconception that her popularity led to her being imported to 616 Marvel, but X23 was only in two episodes and didn't really make much of an impression on people. The only reason she was brought into the mainstream comics was because Marvel realized they could cash in on the idea of a female Wolverine. She was significantly redesigned as well, so if they wanted to make an Evo version they'd need to make it a unique mold. As it is, X23 as a whole isn't as big a deal as she used to be so there's not much of a chance of her getting the Deadpool "we need to make every variation" treatment.

Also the real breakout character on the show was their version of Toad. He stole every scene he was in.

Her knee is not meant to be bent like that. You bend the big, non-gappy ball to its furthest first, then the smaller one as additional bend if you need it. Harley in particular also has the knee pad which obviously does not conform to the shape of a knee because a knee pad is not a knee.

Then why do it at all then? Tons of lines can do a 90° knee like you're doing and a lot of lines can do greater than that with a simple double joint, WITHOUT having a hollow socket that's obviously meant to house a chainsaw missile.

You know... not EVERY thread on this site has to devolve into a petty argument about nothing.

What’s the most obscure character you want a figure of? I can think of a few, maybe even too many in fact.

I call this wave: “Wait... who? Are these even Marvel?”

The knees look perfect well beyond 90º though. The real gapage only starts close to 180º at which point no knee looks good.

Have a bonus pic of Psylocke with arms crossed while I'm at it. Her shoulders look worse than the average figure, but she can do fucking this.
>>
>>8577270
Okay, I recognize Solarr (JUST because he was on X-Men that one time), The Dreadnought, seen guy on the bottom left, but who the hell is top left and Human Ice Torch Man?

Top right was in Byrne Fantastic Four, right?
>>
>>8577469
thank you for proving my picture.
it starts to gape at when it needs almost double over, and pretty dumb when theres plenty of figures with double jointed knees that dont look like theyre falling apart with the same level of knee bendingness

i cant say anytjing about that psylocke though, aside from her ugly face, but thats just my opinion
>>
>>8577535
They don’t ever NEED to double over you fucking retard, go back to /pol/ or whatever retarded little shithole you crawled out of, get a hobby, go outside, do SOMETHING other than sitting at your computer desk pissing yourself laughing at how epically you’re trolling le nerds on a goddamn anime forum. It’s pathetic. You are pathetic. I almost feel bad for you.
>>
>>8577535
why do you ignore the proof that it still has the same range of movement without getting gapped up?
>>
>>8577563
only person ignring proof is you and that other guy who seems to be a newfag

nice gap, blindy
>>
>>8577586
>this shit again
She’s wearing kneepads, you neckbearded goblin
>>
>>8577586
Proof of what? That picture isn't any more gappy than a double jointed knee with kneepads.
>>
Wish you retards had this kind of energy towards standard double joints which look like shit 100% of the time
>>
>>8577605
Weird, my Rhino wave Ben Reilly’s knees look fine, see >>8573163
>>
>>8577595
like i said, it makes it look like it's a prostitute's prosthetic leg.

shit like that shouldn't be seen from the front, which so many figures are able to hide pretty well and still have the same range as that
silohette wise it creates a look like the leg is hanging by a tendon. unnatural as fuck, but that's just how yamaguchi loves to engineer his transformers.
>>
>>8577516
In order from the top left:

Sunstroke - A criminal frequently operating out of the American Southwest, he can absorb sunlight and use it in a variety of way like blinding light or heat projection. He uses said heat projection to create updrafts and fly. He frequently shows up almost as an “Easter egg” in splash pages of evil teams like Red Hood’s gang and the Masters of Evil.

Nebulon - part of an alien race that appears human but is actually a giant golden cephalopod. His race hunts the Galaxy for planets to strip of their resources. Super strong, super durable and able to project and manipulate various energies like solar blasts and generic Star-beams. It took the entire might of the Defenders and Avengers, along with his own wife’s betrayal, to end him.

Doctor Sun - Chinese scientist that developed a process to sustain a human brain in a robotic suit but was betrayed and used as the first test subject. Consequently, developed psychic powers from the experiment and forced to survive on human blood. Given his need for blood he reasoned that vampires would make a suitable army, so he went to war with Dracula. Eventually his mind was trapped in H.E.R.B.I.E and the FF4 killed him.

Lightmaster - Physics professor that turned to crime in order to prevent budget cuts to the university where he was employed. Developed a solar suit capable of flight and light manipulation.,. You’d think such technology would generate far more money than petty robberies but you’d be wrong!

Equinox - Aka the Thermodynamic Man! A young African American man exposed to to his father’s malfunctioning lab experiment, was left with power over fire and ice. Conveniently fought Iceman and Human Torch. Also has super strength/durability because why not?

Solarr - mutant with the ability to absorb solar radiation. Comes with the usual sun-based powers but also can make mirages... because desert.

BAF The Dreadnought - ...cool looking robot created by Jim Steranko.

Keep in mind that Harley is wearing a knee pad making it look like there's more gap in pics when it's just the knee pad protruding out. It doesn't look unnaturally gappy.

If you handle them correctly, the revo knees keep a good look very, very far into their bend, and at the point at which they open a regular double knee looks very unnatural as well.
>>
>>8577616
>like i said, it makes it look like it's a prostitute's prosthetic leg.
No more so than any other double jointed knee

>silohette wise it creates a look like the leg is hanging by a tendon. unnatural as fuck, but that's just how yamaguchi loves to engineer his transformers.
pic unrelated I guess
>>
kill yourself already subby holy shit
>>
>>8577630
(cont.) I mean, not all double joints reach past 150º at all (or even 135º), and those that do tend to look like the knee is a long bone like the femur and the tibia effectively making the leg into 3 segments.

just stop. the top of the leg has a hollowed out area.
no ands ifs or buts about this, unless you're totally delusional

The psylocke figure has nothing like that, nor does that Aegis figure.

You;re just a deranged fanboy who needs to deny there's a large empty socket that isn't found on many toys to feel better about your purchase, and thta;s just pathetic.
>>

Old man checking in. Think he was The Web, a Carlston Comic character. DC bought the rights and remade them in the 90s (The Fly, The Shield, The Web)
I got mine from a Kmart back in the day.
>>
>>8577690
tons of figures that have knee pads like that are similar. Stop being a contrarian.

Of course they don't. It the top of the knee pad.

Probably Madam Masque. I tend to not really go to obscure with my wants because I like for there to be some kind of chance of them getting made. Although if I had to go really deep I'd go with Paste Pot Pete if only to fuck with a friend of mine who, if you ever mention a C-List or lower character he goes on a tirades about "who will they use next?! Paste Pot Pete?!"

Only edgy/obscure characters can be zombies now. This is why we didn't get funko pops of zombie captain America and iron man and why the new marvel zombies comic has spiderman as the uninfected main character
