amber collection T-Rex when

And don't tell me to buy the Super Colossal, it's not the same. The details are so soft, it's obviously the smaller version blown up with inferior articulation.
>>
>>8564180
what's the best Indominus toy?
>>
>>8564600
Depending on what you like there are only 2 options so far the DnD IndIndominus and the Super Colossal the first is nice and gimmicky and fits the 1:18 line has bad proportions as far as the tail( custom work can fix that) the 2nd one or SC Indominus fits well with the 1:12 line abd has ton of details packed into as well as wicked sharp claws and probably has more articulation than the DnD version and is much more proportionate.

Yes it was, just look at it its profile is very Allosauroid Carchardontosauridia in appearance inspite of the over emphasis on the T-rex DNA, it is not build like one at all. In fact in JW FK the Allosaurus design was changed do to looking too similar to the Indominus rex, so that can say enough on that.

Imo, the best basic figure they have done so far is the Pterandon. It has a ton of articulation, including jaw and neck articulation unlike any of the other figures infact it is rhe only basic figure to feature jaw articulation and is in scale w the 1:18 main line. The wing span is slightly longer than the roarivore version and features a different head crest more like the Dino Rivals Ptero does. Its more screen accurate sculpt wise to the JP3 Pterandon than the 2018 figure is and is great figure to repaint.

Any tips or suggestions on repainting on the soft plastic of this kind of figure.
Recently acquired this baby triceratops, the light blue shading is faded but not a big issue but the grayish beige of the horns, ridges, and toes are missing paint throughout.
>>
>>8586131
I would say your best bet would be precision air brushing. Mix different colors and test on another surface to make sure the color matches up as close to the original color as possible. Also make sure the finish is the same as the paint. I have these and the paint is matt so that's something to keep in mind.
>>
>>8584251
I love Indominus's design. It's so perfect for a dino antagonist that is more than just hungry/territorial. Sure, I love to hate Spino too, but the fact that even Indy's roar was a mishmash of various animal sounds including pig squeals just to show what a mongrel she was just made her perfect. Like a dino Mary Sue but manages to still get her ass kicked (and eaten). That said, I can only hope Giga is not the same way. I'm like 90% certain Giganotosaurus will lose to Rexy or dies from human/mosasaur/raptor intervention that leaves Rexy the last one alive still (also betting Rexy dies too), but a part of me wants it to be a tag-team fight with something even more dangerous like Blue and Rexy did in JW, thereby keeping the Rex vs. Giganotosaurus debate open.

And if Giga gets a Super Colossal treatment I'm buying it too.

Are the first JP toys still the best?
>>
>>8627745
nah. The stuff today is leagues better. Old JP is nostalgya (gay nostalgia).
>>
>>8627758
is that so?
the new ones look too plastic-y
>>
>>8627825
It's better than them falling apart thanks to rubber skin.
>>
>>8627745
Depends. Some of the older dinos (a third of which weren't even dinosaurs to begin with) are still great if not for only the fact that it's the best or only figure of that genus/family/order with articulation. Ornithosuchus was the only non-dinosaur/non-pterosaur archosaur up until recently to have an articulated figure (postosuchus is the newest entry), Lycaeonops is the only articulated gorgonopsid out there currently, Estemmenosuchus is the only dinocephalian with articulation, and Scutosaurus got redone recently but still is one of only two pareiasaurs to get articulation. The ceolophysis two-pack are fun for their size and bendy-wire bodies, same for tanystropheus. The old raptors are still fun to play with, especially the one with the biting action that we all had. Bigger dinos like the young Rex are nice for the rubber skin and more proportionally-sized feet, but the newer rexes the same size do the job better with more articulation. Big rexes like the stomping one are nice but way too much for used when you can get the Super Colossal new for cheaper.
>>
>>8627831
I have 3 of the old OG jurassic park toys (triceratops, stegosaur, and the big t-rex), I don't particularly take much care of them, and they're all fine, nothing is falling apart.
>>
>>8611394
Pissing Raptors
>>
>>8628068
is that even articulated?
>>
>>8628083
The only articulation is the head, if you can call it articulation. You squeeze the body and the head jolts up in a kind of ramming motion.
>>
>>8627758
>>8627758
the mattel figures have good sculpts but the paint is super inconsistent and varies from figure to figure. some figures make good use of paint, like the ceratosaurus, but some are super bare, such as the albertosaurus. ironically, the paint on the attack packs has been getting a lot better compared to the first fallen kingdom wave though.
>>
>>8627758

>lack of detail in paint, sculpting, accuracy
>constant QC fuckups
>half the shit they make never gets released

You're not just wrong; you're stupid too
>>
>>8628373
Oh yeah, I'm stupid for liking the more playable toy, for being thankful most carnivores have an articulated mouth, "poseable" feet and limbs, thus not stuck in one pose like quasi statues; I'm stupid for prefering hard durable plastic to rubber that will not last that much; for having finally screen accurate human characters and vehicles, not only from recent movies but the first ones too that have decent articulation; For having the choice on a huge selection of dinos and for prefering the line that has a motherfucking braquiosaurus.

Sure mister high brow elitist, continue to enjoy your gay nostalgia it's all yours, I'll be here enjoying all this stuff and being thankful it exists and sorry if I'm not anal enough for reeeeing at a misaligned pattern of paint.
>>
>>8627758
No. The quality of the Kenner figures is higher than anything Mattel has put out. There's no comparison. The only thing I'll give Mattel is the humans and vehicles, the few they've bothered to release, are movie accurate. Mattel's Tyrannosaurus sculpt, with the exception of it's head is trash. Ironically the Kenner Red Rex is sculpted accurate to the film with exception to it's head.

Kenner's only failures were

1) Not releasing every human, vehicle variant and dinosaur for their respective movie.
2) Not having completely movie accurate humans, vehicles and a few dinosaurs like the Gallimimus.

They’re roaring back! Jurassic Park 3 with Re-Ak Atak sounds. They fight, bite, and roar like never before. Spinosaurus has a bone to pick with T-Rex. DINO DAMAGE! That’s gotta hurt. Hungry raptors hunt in packs, so watch your back. Will the hunters bag their lunch? Are humans history? You decide. Look for the mark of Jurassic Park.
>>
>>8648386
Yeah pretty damn close but I would wait till 2022 for a real figure as it is rumored to be in the movie which can be speculated that the Spino will get a new sculpt or all new larger gimmicky figure but the main thing in 2022 is going to be the Giganotasaurus for sure.

>>
You have my sympathies when Universal makes their inevitable nostalgia baiting sequel/remake of Back to the Future. But that also explains oddities in the JW movies, like the Rex’s coloration looking different from the first JP. Definitely have a feeling that Universal did not archive a lot of their assets from the original movies or at the very least don’t allow the filmmakers to look at them.

Yeah if the have an all new sculpt so many things off w the sculpt they did. The teeth are too big, the eyes are over sized, tail is too short, head may or may not be too big, and it has buck teeth! For all these reasons mentioned already the spino is most in need of a new sculpt Hasbro did a better job w likeness than Mattel has w the Spino so far. I wont accept the idea of a super cossal till the main issue is taken addressed and we get a proper main line figure. They did a good job w the rex as far as sculpt goes but they failed w the Spino. As much as they promote the rex every year they seem to aviod promoting the Spino it must be an embarrassment even for them as how unlike the on sceen counter part does not resemble what they came up with.
>>
I didnt buy a single of them, but i really liked the sculpt -minus the retarded clown feet on theropods/ornithopods- of the blindbags.

I didnt buy a single of the other Mattel Toys too, yeah they look good, but they are expensive and take to much space in my collection and im already out of space.

So, it would be cool if they would release the blind bags again, maybe in a set or something, but with better paint jobs (doenst even have to be super detailed) and better feet.

Nanmu and W-Dragon are another cut above Rebor and Papo, hitting the 70-90 mark. Paint apps are killer, though. Even better than larger statues from companies like Sideshow and Chronicle.

There's no way they do a proper rex in the amber collection. It would cost way too much.and be way too big.

I've personally given up on scale. Said fuck it and got a Papo Rex and Spino for my Jurassic display.
>>
>>8680970
Gallimimus would be great for the scale and people would buy a lot of them to army build. This is how you make money and grow the line Mattel. Are you listening?
>>
>>8681578
I doubt they are, they can't even be bothered to make but like 2 new figures a year.

I don't know whats worse, Hasbro having the license and shoveling out trash, or Mattell having the license, actually making really good dinos in the amber collection, and then only releasing two of them.
>>
>>8564180
So has the Amber Collection released out side of America yet?
>>
>>8681575
If people are willing to do haslab sentinel for as much as they did people would throw down with Mattel creations for a Rex. The after market value on them may be pretty huge.
>>
>>8681584
What will probably happen in a few years is that Mattel will be in financial trouble and Hasbro will buy them. Then we get marvel legends type Jurassic. Which would be cool in the future.
>>
>>8680807
Does Mattel not have the license for a 1:18 scale Ford Explorer? I know they make Matchbox cars of the JP Explorer. I just one one in scale with my GI Joes, SW, and JP 1:18 figs and dinos.
>>
>>8681594
A crowd funded t-rex could do really well since it would have a lot of appeal outside of just Jurassic Park fans.

>>
>>8691841
The problem I have with this one and the Bite 'n' Fight is they used two different browns for the shading on her back. One is the dark chocolate brown on the head and snout which actually works with the base color of the plastic. The other is the diarrhea brown on the back of the body and it doesn't work at all with the base color.
I guess the new Rex's colors are closer to tinted promo photos like pic related, but the fact that they go together pushes it over the BnF for me.

The Amber raptor has oversized feet... this is a Mattel problem not a universal or balance problem. I really hope at least with the Amber collection they stop these ridiculous proportions.
>>
>>8693955
>>8693951
Not much to say on it other than the teeth are proportionate, its much bigger, has more bumps and scales, othwr than that its still the same Carnotaurus sculpt w less poseabilty no neck articulation, no gimmick other than being big and it might be able to swallow things. Its head to body ratio makes it less likely due to it not having a large head like Indominus or Rexy or a ling snout like blue.

Large feet means the toy has a higher chance of standing up on it's own, for therapods that means you can orientate the body closer to the ground rearing up.

Too bad the paint sucks and the sculpt is soft. It should really get a proper re-release if it's to stand-in as the Amber version. A fucking huge rex figure for $50-ish burgerbucks was a gamble considering they had numerous rexes already, probably didn't bother with the detailed sculpt as much in case it wasn't a hit.
Thankfully it was and now we're getting more Mega/Colossals with crisper details (I have both rexes and the Indominus and the later is so fucking detailed by contrast). If that supposed leak of the Giga is true about it having a horn I can only guess that the whole 'these are hybrid creatures' explanation will account for that feature. Would prefer allosaur-like brow-crests over a nasal horn/crest but I'll still get the Giga.
>>
>>8693951
Is this 1/12th sized? might pick it up if it is.
>>
>>8694741
Very good point. Even just comparing the sc blue (the second super colossal figure) the jump in detail is pretty huge. Also if i can recall mattel were not planning on doing any more super colossal figures after the rex but then the rex ended up doing really well.

Mght be 10th or 8th if its the same size as the rex it listed as 101cm = 40in the Carnotaurus irl is 30ft in length making this bigger than 1/12th scale so to big like blue but not scale wise as big as blue closer to 1/10th or 1/9th.
Scale has really just been a coincidence for Colossal line only the rare times like the Indominus and the rex has it actually worked to the advantage of another line
