Welcome to the Warhammer 40k General!>Here we discuss the brand new Warhammer 40k figures!>Archived Threads:https://archive.nyafuu.org/toy/search/subject/Warhammer%2040k%20General/>Previously:>>8512500
>>8539263Is the horned skull on the axe chaos marine specific?
>>8540183I imagine you could say it's an exorcist marine's
>>8540183It pretty much is, but that doesn't stop you from creating your own chapter and reasons for why they have them. It'd be heresy, but fun heresy!
What's everyone working on or planning to work on? I got my eyes set on carchadrons
>>8540370I'm thinking of making some Justicars of Dorn, or maybe Iron Warlords. Do you guys think citadel dry is ok to use? I have some available that's the perfect color.
So I had the idea of making my AP Intercessor into something reminiscent of a custom little squad a friend and I wrote in a story awhile back. The long and short of it is that they're heavily themed into the gods of Egypt, with mine having thematic ties to Anubis.I was doing some digging and came across this, it's a custom head made for Dominus Class Knights for the tabletop game. Do you guys think some futzing could make it fit onto the Intercessor or am I better off leaving it as is. I noticed a gentleman in previous threads making customs but sadly I lack both the knowledge and 3D printing materials in order to try and "bootleg" one of these heads into something compatible for the Intercessor.
>>8540518You'd have to create a hole in this head big enough to accommodate the neck without it looking weird. I don't think there's enough material for the hole if my guess is right. It also a lot of work to do.You'd either end up with an oversized head or a head floating just on top the neck.
I know jack about Warhammer but I want to army build this guy for the meme of it yet I can't find him anywhere only the ugly version of him with the red helmet. Whats up with that?
>>8540548It was a prototype that hasn't been produced yet. We're all pretty much waiting for a regular marine for army building, but all we're getting right now are higher ranks and special units, outside of the artist proofs.
>>8540559I see, gives me time to save up for a shitload of them then. Thanks anon, you keep thinning those paints or whatever Warhammer people do all day.
>>8540537My initial thoughts were to see if I could accommodate the Anubis head and put it "over" the helmet of the marine, sort of like a mask, but it might take some greenstuff wizardry to make it look not shit.
>>8540370Getting the rest of my paints tommorow or Tuesday, and plan on painting up my White Scar which I'm really excited to do.
>>8540370I'm going with Lamenters, if I like the figure well enough I plan to do another Badab War chapter like the Minotaurs or Mantis Warriors.
Is Chaos anon still here? If you are, does the backpack you printed for pic related fit well on the McFarlane marine and can we get the STL for it?
>>8541235Yes it does, but it sticks out quite a bit bbecause the connection part for the backpack is quite longer compared to the Bandai one. You can cut that though.
>>8541235shit enter keyhttps://gofile.io/d/bv9KdD
>>8540370I was gonna paint my Marines into Imperial Fists. I'm not working on it at the moment but I was planning on turning my Ultramarine into Cato Sicarius, but gonna need a 3d printer or have someone make some parts for me before I can do that. I also want to make Kharn but again need a printer or somone to make parts for that.My current little project is finding decent options for unhelmeted heads. I've got about 3 at the moment.
I'm savin' all my cash for the Bandai Dorn boy (yeah, I'm that faggot). But I'm getting a huge kick seeing what you guys can do to the MacFarlane Marines. Keep it up, anons!
>>85413142 different helmets2 different backpacks1 chaingun If anyone wants to know, all projects so you can scale and support like you want to
Is there anyway to get the McFarlane figures without getting rapped by scalpers?
>>8541748Just wait until they're locally available. With Walmart carrying exclusives they'll get some more in store and online, Amazon probably will too. In Canada they're showing up at TRU and EB (at a big $10 markup though so don't buy it from there), and they'll surely be back on Amazon soon enough.
>>8541748aren't they available on amazon for 20 bucks?https://www.amazon.com/McFarlane-Toys-War-Hammer-Figures/dp/B081HVKLLV
>>8541753>>8541757Thanks. Last time I checked Amazon I could only find them for thirty bucks.
Newfag here, never done any painting before. Do I have to cover the figure with varnish or something to protect the paint? What do you guys recommend?
>>8541917im not exactly experienced here but what you need to do is coat the figure with primer BEFORE you paint it, no varnish required afterward
>>8541753Their sold out in Canada atm on Amazon. TRU has em for 24,99 but they sold out pretty quick was supposed to get a restock last week but don't know what happened there. But yeah stay away from EB.
>>8542049anon, for best results, dissasemble in boiled water poured off into a bowl, then use dish soap to wash each bit. this gets the mould release off, so your primer can stick.you should topcoat when you finish painting, otherwise your paint can come off if it scrapes at the joints.
So have we gotten any more info on the Hellblaster or is it still just SOON
>>8542419It's the wave after the sister of battle. Probably gonna be a few months. no pre-orders yet even.
Does anyone know how interchangeable the hands are on the mcfarlane space marine figs? Are the joints ok with that or will they become stressed if you swap them out too much?
>>8542572The plastic on the hands are somewhat soft and the wrist joints are fat, hard and durable fucking things. They pop off just fine, if not with a little bit of force. Heat it up if it's a bit stubborn.
>>8541917A topcoat will usually help to protect the paint, but with an action figure like this you're bound to have some paint scraping off in areas at some point no matter what.
Hatmaker, could you tell me how you get these perfect holes and even the little adapters for the joints?I can only hollow and cut holes in chitubox, but thats it.
>>8540548The Red helmet variant is a marking of a Sergeant rank.
>>8542745You need to use a program like Meshmixer..Its a free program and very user freindly.Chitubox can put hole and size models but its not the best for that..
>>8543117I already use meshmixer for cutting up models, but thats it.Gotta try find a tut I guess
God my McFarlane Necron and Assault Sgt. in.Verdict: very good. The Marine is excellent for the price! I love my Bandai Marine more - more possible, different hands, just more expressive. But at 1/5 the price I am quite pleased with this one as well. The Necron is also great. Again, for $20 I am very happy with these. Excellent sculpts, very poseable. Very happy.
Working on outfittng a Deathwatch Devastator next
>>8540183Looks like a Librarian's Skull iconography. So it's probably a force axe.
>>8543433Little rough but I like it.
>>8543496Cool, I can paint it up and slap it on a red helmet and call it a day.
>>8543425Just a tip, my marine felt like a 100× better toy after I cut some of the plastic around the ankles.
So who's going to be the first to work on a storm shield?
>>8543591I mean https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3660939 exists, its blood raven though, just needs to be upscaled
I'm 6 marines in and I still want more.
Working on my custom Chapter. Been pretty fun working on this dude.
>>8543872I did kinda fuck up my chapter badge though which is unfortunate
>>8543872>>8543875Is Imortalis your chapters name?
>>8540548i want the blue one too, anon
Got my paints in for my White Scar. Im hyped boyz. >>8543872How were you able to disassemble the limbs like that?
>>8543891Just paint the red one.
>>8543893Hot water is my go to.
>>8543893Not that anon but hot water or a hair dryer and the thing pops apart with almost no effort.
Could somebody show me how the head connects to the neck and the backpack to the back? I haven't bought mine yet
>>8540179Do we know how tall the Sister of Battle is compared to the other figures? While I was initially optimistic about this line, the Necron and the Primaris being the same size and seeing Mcfarlane's "more chocolate" argument memed in the DC thread as why he made superman and harley quinn the same height makes me think this might be a monkey paw series in disguise. When Mcfarlane says it's a 7-inch line, I know what I think that means, but what does _he_ think that means, Option A, or Option B?>Wraithlord and Grot for familiar but extreme size scale examples, not wishlisting>Tyranids omitted because there is no way in hell GW will let a toy hormagaunt out into the market of conversion-capable fans for 20 bucks when a scythed hierodule costs about 300 bucks and would be smaller, requires hours of work before painting, and is un-articulated. >Honestly, we'll never get a toy wraithlord or wraithguard for the same reason because of the 150ish dollar wraithknight.
>>8543923I think closer to A than B. About a week ago Todd showed off a bunch of stuff including a Damian Wayne scaled properly so he was exactly the size Samian should be next to Bruce and everyone else and Bane who was based on a fuck huge version of him, Larger than the Devestator figure that they just put out so I think the 40k stuff will have a decent scale. If I'm being honest I kind of hope they don't do Imperial Guard ONLY because I think Guardsmen are the only ones whose scale will get fucked, only because they are like the only normal sized people in 40k. What I'd rather see is someone making like Cadian gear for like the Classified Series Joes or something, because Duke and Beach Head are a good size next to the Astartes.
>>8543878Nah, he's just a member of Immortalis squad. Chapter name is the Shattered Suns
>>8543974i think the scale is completely fucked with warhammer 40k, because https://i.4cdn.org/toy/1604465201291.jpgits pretty hard to make a toyline centered around 9 foot tall super soldiers and have them in a $20 price range, while keeping scalefags happy.they'll gonna end up cheating the same way GWS does, because stores aren't always open to lower priced stuff, especially if it's a niche line like 40k is.
>>8543909Check last thread plenty of disassembled pics including head connection close-ups.The backpack is a simple square block it plugs on to
>>8543909head is on a dumbell peg, that fits into a hollow vertical cylinder.the backpack fits using a trapezium peg
Finally got him and, coming from gunpla and actual WH40k minis, I was surprised at how hefty this guy is. Can't wait to get to painting him in OC chapter colors. Any advice on that?
>>8544666disassemble the figure by putting a limb in boiling water and then gently tugging. then shave off the mould lines, rinse each part in soapy water, then prime it, paint like a knight or rhino. then, you need to TOP COAT THAT FUCKER. if you dont topcoat, your paint can scuff off when you move the figure.
>>8541748I know this sounds dumb but check Gamestop. Mine cost $30 shipped to my house
Hell of a delivery today thanks to Rob. He threw in some cool extras, too. I'm also impressed by how light the jump pack is.
Work continues along. Pretty happy with how he’s coming out.
>>8545171Hey anon, where did you get the decal for your Black Templar?
>>8545381I followed this videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtw3KMq7Ogw
>>8545171Rob is awesome, and so is everyone else making/printing custom parts. The figure has only been out for a short time and the custom scene is already super exciting, I love it. This all would have given 11-year-old me a brain aneurysm if I could have seen it.
>>8545171>>8545428ToyMarineMaker@gmail.com here, thanks for the kind words and im glad you like the prints!I've still got a lot of works in progress, I've been swapping from modeling to painting to try to get some done. Still have parts available if people want them.I like the mythic legions guys, these weapons will look good on them too if you need more recruits for the grimdark future!
>>8545712>>8545716These look awesome. Do you follow https://instagram.com/artofsebadom? He’s been doing some really great stuff on the Mythic Legions bodies for awhile now, too.
>>8545712Hey Marine Maker, do you mind if I make a suggestion about your work? I think you should (if you can) add a trigger guard to the guns. Rounding off the handle could be useful but that's someone anyone can do with some sandpaper and a little time so its not as big a deal.
>>8545735Yes there is a lot of good stuff on Instagram. I liked that guys stuff but I'm taking a break from posting myself there.>>8546208Making a trigger guard isn't a problem, i think it would snap off if its not thick enough though. I'll measure again but I think its 1.5mm at most
Well this is my first time giving a figure a warm bath for disassembly, and that was much easier to do than I was expecting. Thank you for the two anons that gave that advice.
>>8546366>i think it would snap off if its not thick enough thoughYou've got a point, but it can be glued back on if it breaks.
>>8545716>>8545712That storm shield and power sword look so good. Do you have a specific tutorial you learned from to do that shimmer on the sword?
>>8545716>>8545712Since ogres were first shown, I've been waiting for some customizer to make ork gear and heads for them. As far as I know, no one went for it.
>>8547278I'm assuming just this, but upscaled
>>8547399https://youtu.be/XtYIf1ujsUM It would help if I actually included the link
>>8540370Likely to make mine into a Noise Marine once I get one, but if I were to do a Loyalist I'd go with this homebrew scheme.
>>8540370Working on a Black Templar. Need to up the contrast between the black and the blues, work on the pauldrons and pistol and maybe do some OSL for the lenses
>>8548624Is there a clean version of this anywhere? I'd love to plan my own custom using this.
>>8548790Should be available from here.https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/08/06/space-marines-preview-create-your-own-chapter-tacticsgw-homepage-post-1/
>>8548647This is sick, love how it came out.>>8548825Thanks!
Welp Amazon put my order on no definite ship time. I'm once again reminded why I don't bother buying western figures here.
>>8545712hey just a FYI your email and posts are being shared on reddit discords so if you get a influx of requests thats why.
>>8550792ToyMarineMaker@gmail.com here. Been working a lot so I had to take a few days off and some people asked for stuff but it hasn't ship yet.My main goal was to help others. I shipped over 75 helmets and a bunch of gear at my own expense all over. People came through and donated though to various causes.I'm still working on improvements and new items. I really, really want a heavy bolter! Until then my deathwatch guy just feels underpowered, but he's ready for battle now!
>>8551087That looks so fucking good, dude!
>>8546691It's meant to be easy to take apart you faggot.
>>8551299You're full of shit man, take your angst and channel it elsewhere, not lashing out at a random anon who merely thanked people for advice.
>>8551299The mcfarlane setup is less about being easy to take apart, but more about being easier to assemble in a factory.
Can more people post their work? I love seeing the painted marines
>>8551698My painted LT with his miniature counterpart.
Thank you again, Artificer!>>8552663Looks spectacular
>>8551698Sure anon, here's my WIP. Not sure what other color i should go with, but I'm happy with it so far. Special thanks again to >>8551087 again for sending me these awesome parts. First time painting and I'm already hooked.
>>8552864I love the colors. It reminds me of the 90s.
In case anyone is interested in the scale of TMM's weapons
>>8552864what the fuck are these sharp ass trims, the fuckHow did you do it?
>>8554357Wait nvm, I thought thats greenstuff, still sharp work though.
>>8552864Is that an 80’s computer deco??
Folks who have painted theirs. How are your hips, knees and elbows holding up?Ive found that my ptopcoat, paint, and primer is all coming up all in those tight rub areas.
>>8554475I did primer, paint, gloss clear coat, semigloss clear coat. I havent really stressed it but it doesn't immediately come off. I would like to know if someone gets something more durable for sure!Working on some modeling for grenades next
Death Korps of Krieg army builders when?
>>8554475>How are your hips, knees and elbows holding up?paint the blue one
>>8554614Those grenades look incredible! How are they attached?>>8552864Holy shit, that grey-and-beige combo looks awesome. Just slap a rainbow onto that shoulder pauldron and you have a nice lil classic Macintosh homage that would look amazing next to this Caesar.
Has anyone else's feet came off like this?
>>8554849One of mine came off like that, the other popped off at the ball. Both work perfectly fine.
Anyone got the current link for AP boy? All i see are the jacked price ones.
>That feel when you find an RTX 3080 before an unpainted Marine.
>>8556250Do you know how many AP Marines you could buy for the price of that Graphic Card? That's why its easier to find.
>>8556250>tfw it's the oppositeYou'll find one bro, just like I will find that rtx3080
fucking Amazon has now announced there's a delay shipping my order when it was supposed to be arriving by tomorrow... should not have trusted a man without hair
>>8556440Out of curiousity where are you located. Exact same thing happened to me. Shouldve gotten it last week now my shipping date is pending. I would love to just go to a store and buy it but its TRU and GW exclusive up here and both I've talked to have gotten literally 1 unpainted marine since October.
Just waiting on my Storm Shield
>>8554823>>8554360>>8552918Glad you guys like it, here's another shot! I think I'm keeping the colors this way, maybe I'll put a black wash on the unpainted grey areas.
Everyone's stuff looks cool!I'm new and this is probably a -really- annoying question but...Are Vallejo paints good? Or should I got with the citadel ones? I was going to possibly try to get some T'au or Necrons to see if I like 'em.
>>8557572I would like to second this anon's question but specifically about primer. I can probably find Citadel primer with some effort, but obviously more general use stuff from places like Walmart and hardware stores is easier to come by.Is it just worth it to get Citadel primer in terms of quality? I'd rather not buy stuff from the hardware store, find out it sucks, then go buy the Citadel primer afterward.
since sister of battle are coming to the stores, someone has made some 3d models of accesories for theme?like some spacewolf shoulders or slaanesh breastplace?
>>8544090That image is incredibly misleading. 1. That's not a GW model2. They're all on some custom base, so the heights are hard to actually gauge. 3. Something's weird with that model's legs. I don't recall any DW character with proportions like that. Possibly a bad attempt at 'true scaling'4. That last one is a Terminator, which is supposed to be taller anyway.
>>8557683>Not Even Remotely DorkyWhy thank you friend.
>>8556472Canada. I ordered a painted and unpainted Marine for my brother's birthday, told him to expect a present shortly after it because 'the gift' wasn't in-stock until Oct31 and it would take a few days to get there. It should've been there by now and fucking Amazon sends me an email telling me 'lol dunno when it'll ship pls stay tuned."
I could've made an iron knight easy if the shield was on the other side.
Sometimes I dream about McFarlane releasing a 30 inch imperial knight as a statue.
Working on the second gift Marine, thanks again TMM
>>8541917The artist proofs are already primed, I think. Acrylic model paint is fairly resistant to wear, but you could give the fig a light spray with a matt varnish when finished.
>>8558661My bad, they're not primed. Don't buy overpriced spray paint from GW. Any cheap spray primer from a hardware store will work just as well. Grey generally works best, but go with white if you want a white/yellow paint scheme.
>>8557572>>8557620Vallejo paints are even better than GW paints. Citadel sprays are okay, but horrendously overpriced. If you find a colour you love, by all means get it, but basic grey primer really does work just as well.
>>8558678Perfect, thank you very much.
>>8558326Sounds about right me and you are in the same boat. McFarlane pretty much told us to fuck off.
>>8558678in terms of strength sticking to the model, Vallejo are easily the weakest of all the acryllic model paints and Acryllics are already the weakest of the model paint types, so not sure what >>8558661 means by 'fairly resistant' as they come right off if you look at them without primer and topcoat. so even being the weakest of an already weak type of paint is not a huge negative overall really.however, their strengths that made them always reccommended by gunpla groups over citadels was not their resistance but the fact they are the absolutely most beginner friendly for hand brushing of any brand with maybe citadel coming in second. and the biggest reason being the ABSURDLY cheap price point.however since Primer is NOT paint I will agree, NEVER buy citadel primers. i have yet to encounter major differences between the modeling primer brands, so buy the cheapest one it wont hurt. what can hurt is hardware store primers, sometimes they produce a much rougher texture on the model. Not to mention so many of these 'primers' are now 'half n half' paint and primer combos.
>>8558873Us leafs don't have it easy when it comes to toys. I saw one Ap marine at a privately owned collector shop here. $70. At least the Painted marine was decently priced at $30
>>8559338Canadian friend, go to TRU or wait for Amazon.ca to get them back in stock. $25.
Any expectation forbwhen the blanks will be restocked at not scalper price?
>>8560848It's one to a case, but wasn't GW getting solid cases of them?>>8559349https://www.toysrus.ca/en/Warhammer-40%2C000---Ultramarines-Primaris-Assault-Intercessor-Action-Figure/D41FB908.htmlhttps://www.toysrus.ca/en/Warhammer-40%2C000---Necron-Warrior-Action-Figure/9459585D.html$20 dollars at TRU.ca. No blanks unfortunately.
I think I messed up. My first time painting a figure from the ground up.I started by popping the figure apart, sanding down some mold seams and trimming off flash. Then I primed it with Mr. Surface Primer and waited about 2 hours. Then did a pass of Mr. Base White 1000.I’d assume that I need to do another pass of white to even it out, but now that the first coat is dried, I’m really skeptical about doing any more, since it really looks like something that’ll chip right off once I try to put the figure back together (even after topcoat).Should I keep going, or strip it down to start over with different primer and white base coat? I haven’t done any of the parts not pictured yet.
>>8564174Does Captain Brighteus slap brother Amuro with power glove whenever he doesn't want to wear the Gundamis armor?
>>8558913Bulldog Adhesion promoter and Duplicolor Adhesion promoter is superior to any other primer for plastics that I've come across so far. Both are clear primers, no color at all. Bulldog creates a thicker shiny coat which helps stick any paint, and I mean any paint, even the crappiest paint. Duplicolor leaves a matte coat and it's super thin, almost like a prep for that surface and works extremely well with Testors and Citadel, spray lacquer too, but not crappy paints like apple barrel.
>>8564174Lol I was literally planing on a Char/Zaku paintjob. Too bad Ill probably never get one of these thanks to McFarlanes shit distribution.
>>8561002You should let paints and primers CURE before going to next step. So should have let the primer sit a day before moving onto paints. And likewise let paints cure before the top coats
>>8565168Ok. I’ll take it slow from here on. If I have to strip it, so be it.
>>8556576>>8556611>>8558506ToyMarineMaker here, these are looking great!>>8564237Wow thanks for the expert advice! Looks like they might have Bulldog this at a nearby autoparts store. In between working I modeled up a heavy bolter with a belt that prints flat and then can be heated to shape. I'm looking forward to finishing this guy up!
>>8565546Awesome looking Heavy Bolter- but do you think it would be possible to make one with free-moving links?
>>8557679anon, that first one is a metal Vallhallan ice warrior. its made by gw.
>>8565546such fucking sorcery.
>>85576791. that's an old IG model2. they're all on a single width piece of plasticard on top of the normal base3. that's a truescaled marine made to be as tall as they are in fiction next to an average guard model4. yes that is to help show how big the truescale marine isalso>deathwatch character>characterplease don't expose yourself like this
>>8565514Set him free. 4 real he’s a fun figure. It’s meant to be played with
Black templars when?
>>8565514What good is it in the box?
>>8566241Where are those little skulls from? I could use those for my Space Wolf
>>8566501Looks like a Predator
>>8565546Remember to test the product on areas that won't be visible. Especially stuff like this that is meant for automotive work, never know if that anon might be trying to get ya to ruin stuff.I will say though, that the product claims to be a massive multipurpose use in automotives including vinyl so it is probably more likely to be safe for plamo then many automotive paint products. But never can be sure until you test.
>>8566501I seen animal skulls like that in that size when perusing Hobby Lobby's jewelry section for crosses and skulls. Think they were with the native american themed stuff.
First time hand painting (I've spray painted gunpla before, but I've never hand painted with acrylics until now), but I'm really happy with how my White Scar shoulders are coming around. Still need to do a couple small touchups, and paint the emblems but I'm happy with the progress so far.
>>8567059That’s really clean for hand painting.
>>8556611Is the file for the new helmet avaliable anywhere?
Another WIP. Just trying to figure out how to get rid of print lines.
>>8567799You should cut those thigh flaps while you're at it. You can do it relatively cleanly if you're careful.
>>8567083Stuff like that that has a lip isn't that hard, to do the edge you just get a flat shader brush and turn it on its side and it pretty much does the work for you. Now, what requires real precision hand control is painting the inside edge of that trim.
>>8567799>Just trying to figure out how to get rid of print lines.Sandpaper.
More progress on the Space Wolf
A nice concise list that finally gives me inspiration to paint up my gray marine and 3d prints. I'm going with veteran or veteran captain.
I forgot to order alligator clips, what's another tool I can use to hold up the pieces for when I get around to the painting of my Marine?
>>8572013a toothpick and blu tack.
>>8572057cork is easier to hold than a toothpick and i get a lot of those from parties i go to. You can also use old medicine containers or those little drums gum come in, like mentos or ice cubes
>>8572307Those are good for big flat surfaces that won't be painted to adhere to, not as easy to attach to something like the pauldrons where the only anchor point surface is too hard to reach for a cork. One trick in gunpla when in need of clips was running a sprue over a flame and quickly smooshing the melted end onto the part, it snaps off without leaving a mark when you are done. Unfortunately this is not feasible for action figures without sprues.
>>8573010this is why people attach the pins to the mini first and then put on the cork.you can do the same with alligator clips or the toothpick mentioned earlier. It's a lot harder to do on a medicine bottle or gum drum
I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to searching up 3d printed stuff. Where are people having success finding weapons for then marines.
>>8573784Thingyiverse,MyMiniFactory and Cults 3d are all good sites..
>>8573784I think there is a guy ITT that sells them.
Has anyone shared stl files for alternate weapons? I know the helmets are floating around, but I haven't seen a download for any handheld accessories.
>>8573883He doesn't sell them. He gives them out for free and just asks that you donate to some art school, which is optional anyway.
>>8575373It was an optional request at first, but as he expanded his parts list and started printing bigger things, he had specific donation amount requests. It's still on the honor system, so you can scumbag it, but come on. This guy is doing so much work and printing and mailing shit on his own dime, don't be that fucker. Just be good and donate.
>>8575439I have and will continue to donate when I get stuff from him. I'm just saying he isn't selling them. Mostly to cover his ass because GW is fucked and sends out Cease and Desists over the most minute shit.
>>8575439When does he come around? If all it takes is some donations I'll happily comply.
>>8575572ToyMarineMaker@gmail.com here, yeah email me if you are interested in something and I will see when I can send something your way! As noted, email me for details and those items are sent with the understanding you are going to make a donation to a worthy cause.I did drop a few items on ebay to gauge interest recently too. I am only selling a portion of the items that way, ones that allow for selling or ones I modeled myself. The ebay stuff is also pre-primed via airbrush if you want to jump right into painting. No clue on legality otherwise. I do see some WAY overpriced (in my opinion) items also showing up on other sites too but then again, warhammer has never been cheap.I'm glad to see some cool works in progress and more painted stuff out there!
Anyone have any ideas on techmarine arms? I'm thinking about salvaging some from a mastergrade ball and chopping it together with the marine pack.
>>8576437Looking through my stuff, the astrobot backpack/weapon sets aren't a bad match. Just some bluetac and it's good to go. I'm still looking into those claw clamps they have.
Both the Marine and the Necron are back in stock on Amazon,
>>8548647thats pretty good
>>8580303Ooh shit, this looks amazing! Where did you get the fur? I've been looking everywhere for this kind of thing to add to my own Space Wolf.
>>8580303Based Paw Patrol
>>8581372For a second I thought that was a Pimp Coat.
Os there anything to worry about painting over the blue guy instead of the unpainted one?I take it i should still wash it. Do i prime over the old paint?
>>8581925blue guy is unpainted
The Necron was just restocked and now it’s almost out of stock.
>>8581372>>8581615I thought it was an overcoat. From the thumbnail I really thought it was supposed to be an NCR ranger.
>>8581615>>8582180Yeah, I'm probably going to remake it; it's a first attempt
>>8582180God, I want an NCR ranger so badly.
I need your input. Would the price go up if I waited until December to get the Marine or the Necron? I have the money for both right now but something else I want is on sale.
>>8583463never mind necron is gone
>>8584092It has a nice, crystalline color shift in person
>>8584096Thanks again, TMM!
>>8583463prices in general will always go up, but the WH40k line seems popular enough that McFarlane will be sending out enough merchandise even as variants to get more product out there. He did the same shit with MK Spawn, so if you don't mind different accessories, you can wait.
>>8584139Thanks for the input. My birthday is coming up soon so I’ll get some money and buy them then. Why the heck do the Necrons sell out so quickly? It hasn’t even been a week since they restocked and they’re already gone.
>>8584257army builder.or it could be he's short packed?Both?
Here's my carcharodon so far. I'm still working on his harness, his chapter badge, and some tribal tats. I also need to redo some paints like his shoulders.
>>8589057Damn that looks amazing!!!
>>8584092>>8584096>>8584101I really like your paint. What do you do to give it that rough look so it isn’t so flat?
>>8591504Wet-brushed the entire figure with Mechanicus Standard Grey, followed by wet-brushed Russ Grey, followed by dry-brushed Fenrisian Grey. Did panel-lining with Agrax Earthshade, followed by sponge-chipping with a tiny bit of Administratum Grey.
Two questions:Can necron's head be safely removed? And are there any 3D models of cryptek heads online?
How are you guys avoiding paint rubbing/chipping at the joints? I'm too scared to paint mine like I would with a Warhammer mini.
Other Canuck bro you have any lucking finding an AP yet? Amazon order is officially at 2 months with no update.
>>8591728I don't think I'm the same Canuck you're referencing, but I ended up finding mine at TRU. I cancelled my Amazon preorders at that point. The Necron's listing has shown back up on Amazon though, that's perhaps a decent sign that they're going to be showing up on there soon.
Can somebody post pictures of Necrons while I'm waiting for mine?
>>8591541you can pop off pretty much any jointed part from a McFarlane figure because they're just barbell joints. Ball joints on two ends, so they're pretty easy to take off.The plastic is very sturdy, so you shouldn't be afraid of breaking anything. Just watch out for longer posts like the shoulders, because those joints go pretty deep into the shoulders.
an ork figure is pretty much a given right?
A couple customs from another site.
>>8540179What happened to those 1/6th figs they announced? It's the only scale I collect these days.
>>8592628i beleive they were tied to kickstarter, but could be wrong
>>8591541>And are there any 3D models of cryptek heads online?Yes, look at thingi, they are for 28mm miniatures but you can easily upscale them
>>8592602Damn is all that damade like cut into it or just painted or a waterprint like all the other little details? That Dark Angel is fuckin nice though, could use a tabard and hood.
>>8593749>>8593840Looks mostly painted to me. Whoever did this clearly has talent, but they went overboard on the weathering in my opinion. Yeah, I know armor like this would probably get fucked up real bad in battle, but your job as an artist is to design the damage in a way that is both visually appealing AND does not distract from the design itself. It's the same criticism leveled at people who cut and burn Gunpla because "that could really have happened in the field!"The helmet on the Dark Angel is really nice though, I will say that.
>>8593858Personally I see the issue being that whoever painted these painted them in the exact same way as the models which doesn't work on bigger figures. They went and added to many different shades which is done on minis to indicate stuff like light pulling out and shadowing detail. And all the edge detail pulling out the edges of the armor. Works on the minis because it draws attention to the seams and edges of the armor which you wouldn't be able to see on the minis due to their size. You can see detail much easier the bigger the model/figure/statue etc is. As for the battle damage I think it would have been easier to just create the scratches with an xacto knife instead of painting them but I could be wrong on that working. I've been looking up how to add battle damage on Minis and gundams and stuff so I can add some damage to my marines when I finally get off my ass and paint them.
>>8592602Went overboard with the paint. Less is more.
>>8593890Be careful if you're actually cutting/damaging the plastic. 7/10 times this looks like garbage. Make sure to plan your cuts carefully and not just go willy-nilly on it.
>>8591760My Amazon ordered shipped right as I was logging in to cancel it >>8592196god I hope so
Where does one get more info about that heavy bolter kit an the other armor bits that were posted?I dunno squat about 40k, but I wanna make an overly armored heavy gunner marine.
>>8596157A guy ITT makes them. >>8575881
More progress. Just needs his chapter badge and some grime and I'm happy with it.
>>8599337Looking fucking good Anon. I think ToyMarineMaker has some power axes if you're feeling that instead of a chainsword.
>>8599371The default chain sword feels so fitting, honestly.
>>8599337Damn! The chest looks so good! Where did you get those straps?
>>8599536I got them from a 1/12 racing belt I tried to modify into a harness. It didn’t work out. I ordered TMM’s circle harness, but it ended up breaking in the mail, so combining the two worked out really well.
>>8599337hey buddy i think you got the wrong door, the leather club is 2 blocks down.
>>8599337ToyMarineMaker@gmail.com here, that guy is looking great, awesome work!Sorry to hear the circle harness broke in transit, I may have to switch to boxes for some of these items instead of the padded envelopes. One guy said the post office cracked a heavy flamer in half, which is hard to do! Glad you still made use of part of the harness, I think it looks better.
When is hellblaster coming out? Painted and unpainted
>>8599800No worries. Also thanks for all the extras you've been throwing in each order. I'm really excited about the heavy bolter set.
>>8599800Got anything new comin down the pipe there TMM?
>>8601960A sneak peek of what's next is missile launcher, big plasma gun, combat knife, and shotgun. I'm getting better at the 3D modeling and I am working on prototypes of all those in parallel so I can try to get those done soon.I had to take a break on the power sword, shield, jetpack, and a couple other things because they were being uncooperative for reliable quality printing but I'll get those wrapped up. I also have ideas for some new helmet styles and chaos items.New stuff is on going to land on ebay under the auction "Warhammer 40k McFarlane Space Marine Choose Your Custom Gear Lot Action Figures" of which some goes to charity and the rest is to help pay for resin and eventually a faster printer.
What Necron dynasty are you going to make first?
>>8604772Man, that NECA Heavy gun is a nice fit.
