Am I wrong in remembering BK to have better toys than MCD? MCD was always trashy, only ones I can remember are the Shrek3 ones. BK had pokemon and marvel superhero squad

Does anyone think they could maybe help me find a particular line I remember seeing and wanting a lot as a kid? I don’t remember if it was a McDonalds or Burger King line. I think it was a pretty large set (I wanna say 15-30?) of these hard plastic animals. I vaguely remember some of them being metallic/robotic.

I can easily picture my younger self getting real excited about these. The cards are cool and the pokeball shoots those little disks that have a built in rock paper scissors type game for 'battling'. Plus the back has a clip so it's a nice fashion accessory you could wear to school and make all the other kids jealous.

Now I'm a man-child so I cut off the clip on mine and made it into a belt buckle. I wear it almost every day.

i will never forget this toy. was in some summer camp in elementary school when these were happening. we had a field trip to one of those cookie cutter local amusement parks with mini golf, go karts, an arcade, laser tag, and other fun shit kids go wild for. anyway, the arcade was fucking huge and had a built in mcdonalds. for lunch every kid ended up getting these inspector gadget toys. but for some reason i also remember getting large fries and big macs. i only remember this because some kids didn't want their food so i stuffed my backpack with big macs and large fries to take home. anyway, i started by going around to all the girls securing their inspector gadget toys first since i knew they wouldn't want them. then i started using the duplicates to trade with other people and convinced others to join in helping me assemble it. my last piece came from going up to the mcdonalds and telling them i was just missing this one and exchanging an extra for it. i not only completed the build but unintentionally became a fatass in the process.
>>
>>8333233
Damn. Unless those cups came full of “Give your kid coffee for the first time,” it seems disingenuous to claim that each one has “McPlay Power.”

Anyone know what happened here? The LEGO Movie was massive marketing success, and seemed like it had the full confidence of LEGO the whole way. It’s almost unthinkable that it would have Happy Meal toys that aren’t even toys.
This screams of “the real toy was recalled at the last second.”
>>
>>8333358
They couldn't do real lego as a toy anymore due to it being a choking hazard.
>>
Why did McDonalds start doing less with kids meal toys? Too expensive?
>>
>>8333396
>>8333358
>>8333233
what they should have done was make Lego brick studs line the sides of the cups. No choking hazard because it is all one piece, and it still has play power if the kid has legos at home.

They honestly could just make Duplo builds with unique molds and figs like the doofy Emmet and Lucy that came with that one LM2 set. At the very least they'd be compatible with SOME form of Lego, as opposed to shit like their 06-08 Bionicle "figures".

I’m a zoomer, but as a little kid I was autistically obsessed with the inspector gadget movie starring Matthew Broderick. I don’t know why but I would rent it every single time we went to Blockbuster. My uncle worked at McDonald’s during the inspector gadget tie-in and managed to make a few of them. I remember he gave me one for my birthday one year and i nearly shit myself. I couldn’t have been any older than 4.
