Any hope for a reissue ?
>>

I'm gonna say probably not/chances are very slim. The Legacy of Revo reissue train sorta dried up a long time ago, and there are no Lilo & Stitch hype or milestones on the horizon. MAYBE you could hope for one on the 20th anniversary, in 2022, but I really doubt it, it's not that hot of a property for Disney to begin with.

I kinda want Yamaguchi to come out of nowhere and make them AY style for the EE line. But I know the most Kaiyodo will do for them are some small figurines. Maybe the best hope now are Figure-rise Standard kits from Bandai. That's in an expansion stage more so than any other brands.

Too expensive for what’s basically an accessory pack. But also pretty amazing with others. Very top heavy in this configuration. Might want to mod in support for the legs.

>I wonder what the cost is from?
Being niche. That's it. They can't sell as many as a revo of comic book or movie characters so the price per item is higher even though the cost is similar or maybe lower. Think about it, painting process is probably cheaper not having that many small detailing to worry about, and assembly process is cheaper being packaged mostly in parts.

Skull Spartan probably would benefit immensely as a stand alone toy if it included the some AB wave 1 body parts like Doom Diver. Especially the crotch piece. Without bringing in another AB, SS feels one or two pieces short. I do like the bone color more than I thought so might grab another one instead of getting the different color Shadows from Outer Space version.

how many skull spartans make that? Is that just 1 of each color?
>>
>>8223829
Yeah, looking at it that's what I felt like too. Like it just needs....basically just the waist, and feet honestly. He's in a really odd place; more unique pieces than a wave 2, not as many as the hades pod, and lacking the "Generic" body parts the wave 2 had.

Doesn't bother me because I have plenty of bodies to play with but for anyone who buys him alone, they're gonna have a hard time.

>>
>>8224182
I’ve seen them fairly low on Mandy, but shipping is murder atm, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
>>
>>8224182
I have pretty much all the skeletons Kaiyodo released. They don't use 3mm peg joints. I'll need to make a workaround part. Maybe one of those hobby joints had a way of making of different peg sizes. But a normal skull is too boring, what I wanted was a skull themed AB design head.
>>
>>8223829
crotch would be nice, but I feel what he really needs are feet. All the promo shots with just Skull Spartan parts look weird because he doesn't have dedicated feet pieces
>>
>>8224486
IIRC the skeleton's skull thats attached to the base that comes with the Argonauts skeleton is also removeable and has a 3mm peg hole.
>>
>>8224666
That sounds familiar. The base...hmm...no idea where that went.

And there are hobby joints that can have both 2mm and 3mm pegs on same joint. Colors of the bones are very different though.

I doubt it's mold. The skin on the QB Revos are unpainted PVC so impurities, stains, paint spills all stand out or get there without noticing how.

Similar to what happened with Tolmekian soldier, they tease the PO like a month ahead of time. Why? I guess Jizai Okimono and RevoGeo are pure Kaiyodo releases, no UC no KE involved, so they are free to announce anything anytime?
>>
>>8220710
retail, yes. somewhat. there is a minor but widespread annoying paint qc on the face and you'll definitely want to have pledge or transparent nail polish to tighten the pegs for the miniguns.

same as this anon said, base body is where the worth is, the fucker is thick and can pose like mad. him and wolvie are my fav AY capestuff.

Those are Kaiyodo gashapons. So are the smaller hornets in the background. Yamaguchi designed some swivel articulation in them so they can take different poses instead of being a fixed pose figurines.

Hahaha Bandai's FU product is harassing Kaiyodo beyond the eating away of sales. Imagine getting calls after calls about the product by your rival that came out faster and cheaper.

There's no doubt that Kaiyodo's looks better, but it's also over 10x more expensive, sooo....

Bandai's gacha division is really putting a lot of people on the spot lately with the quality they're putting out. Same deal with their recent Dango Crab, which put Kaiyodo's much pricier one to shame.

I think it's because the main purpose of the photos are to show the configuration of parts, so others could recreate them. Plus we tend to see the same people posting multiple configuration of Skull Spartan personal preference stands out. If the pic has other purpose then the posing tends to reflect that purpose.

Also that's false information since only the one sculptor, Katsuhisa Yamaguchi is the one doing the dynamical revos. He's the main sculptor and worked on most revos especially right now. But revos not made by him or jointed by him usually have no dynamic element.

It's interesting how MSD says stock acquisition but Senmu insists that it's nothing more than them investing (capital and business alliance) in Kaiyodo. Man, the ego-stroking they must have done to him (the way Senmu described it probably is only the tip of an iceberg) to get there. From a business point it makes sense to want to bring this old and well known toy company to a higher level than this sorta indie, for the niche, garage kit maker mentality Kaiyodo still has. For both sides.
I hope this would somehow result in more Revoltechs, more sublines, more IP's. Maybe get back to non-mainstream IP's like they used to do. Personally I'm hoping to see more ABS plastic robot action figures like the AY Convoy and Shinkalion Eva.

Senmu apparently just learned about uploading videos to twitter and been doing it quite a bit. What I thought was funny was when he talked about the cape of the Tolmekian Soldier being PVC, that "using cloth on figures is a violation." Well, sorry guys who perhaps thought maybe one day AY will start using cloth capes even though they show no signs of doing so. It's against company policy apparently.

>Is there any easy way to get gold in the west?
I imagine some sort of metal/gold trader will be the easiest way to buy gold.

Yeah middleman is probably the easiest. Nippon Yasan might have it but their shipping rate tends to be higher and it'll probably take longer to get to you. I'm not familiar with other stores like them that carry exclusives.
>>
Imagine a revoltech arsène.
>>
Now that Kaiyodo has some extra money, not that it might affect Revoltechs as far as we know, could just mean more WF overseas, which is more likely to happen? I'm going with a Nightow theme here. Fair number of AY of Blood Blockade Battlefront? OR faster and improved lineup in Assembleborg Nexus?

I like to bring up BBB every once in a while because what we got felt lacking in terms of lineup. The Mini pair were odd because Klaus and Zapp rarely works together and the gag of Zapp attacking Klaus only happens like 3 times in the 16 volumes I read. Figma pair was odd too, Leo is usually paired with Zapp. Klaus usually has Steven by his side. I get why each toy line did only two and picked those two but overall feels very lacking.

With the close relationship Kaiyodo and Nightow has AY is probably the only platform to have 1/12ish action figures of 3~4 characters. Looking at the design and fighting style I think a good lineup would be Klaus, Zapp, Zed, K.K. and Steven, in order of priority and demand. They have good potential for fun action figures with all the blood and elemental powers effect parts. Downside is it's not a big hit series like BnHA.
>>
>>8238269
The extra money is going to the Kaiyodo museums and events. I doubt it will have anything to do with figure lineups.
>>
>>8238285
Yeah that's what I fear. And their new factory in Kochi. But the improvements in Revo Geo could've been from this funding I imagine without it they would've cancelled or release as they were to not waste further.

Paint process is like twice or more complicated, and thanks to the outcry for joints assembly is just as or more involved than AY. And these will not sell as many as an Ironman. The sizing on his female figures is honestly one of my biggest disappointments in the line? Especially considering his guys are a pretty tall even for american 6" figures. There's no time where wonder woman is a head shorter than batman, which is what this is looking like.
>>
>>8242158
I think it's a flaw in the joint sizes. Even with the new additions there isn't a good middle ground variation in size that looks right or provide the necessary range for a taller but skinny build AY.

Or in Yamaguchi's mind males are bigger and females are petite overall. Kind of like Bruce Timm's style.

As long as it's not someone like She-Hulk ending up this small I'm okay. This WW height is like borderline for me.

I'm in a love hate relationship with AB's. I love the concept and design of these guys, have a few sets but hate that the quality control for these aren't very good so some holes are super tight or super lose, and often time I'm not creative enough to make anything cool.
>>
>>8245569
Swamping around the joints, even flipping the pegs at the same joint is surprisingly effective sometimes. And with tight PVC heating is always effective.

>>8245562
Nooooo not enough. We barely get a new one each year.
>>
Does anyone have or know where I can find breakdown images of AY figures? For joints and such.
>>
>>8245569
Heat gun is practically a requirement if you intend to do a lot with them. The issue is that they're made of a softer, more pliable plastic than most things to prevent them from breaking or being damaged by all the swapping of joints.

If its too loose, heat it up a bit and then squish it in a bit, trying to squeeze it uniformly from all angles. If its too tight, heat it up and insert a joint or peg and then let it cool.

Quick thoughts after 30 minutes with wonder woman: she might be the best 6" female toy I've owned, but she's absolutely too fucking short, yamaguchi plz
>batman's chin hits her forehead, they almost look like they're from different lines
>articulation is nuts, I did a double take the first time I crunched her torso forward
>stands alright, but dainty lil feet don't help things
>neck can indeed look long, but the head is supposed to collapse in on it like harley's. more articulation=longer neck, pic is with it extended
>the hair being split in half might actually be genius, I'm not sure yet but I've had zero problems with it getting in the way or looking disjointed

Isn't WW an Amazonian? She should at least be as tall as Batman. It's pretty obvious these are sculpted in isolation when you look at her next to Harley >>8241903
>>
>>8248782
It always was possible, even back in the early days. I've been collecting Revos since the line started, and it was pretty much never a problem to put them in vanilla standing poses. Every time someone would claim Yamaguchi sculpts just couldn't do it, I would look over at my shelf where I had Ingrams, Gainer, Starscream, GL, etc. etc. just casually standing around having a chat. Casual posing has of course gotten easier as Kaiyodo's joint placement and types evolved, but yeah, people always blew this issue out of proportion.
>>
>>8248986
Yeah, people do actually have different head sizes, but Diana's head is so much smaller than Harley's that they almost feel like they came from different lines.

Their actual height difference is about right (Harley is 5'7", Diana is 6") but I guess Yamaguchi made her head smaller to push that super leggy heroic look. Whereas Harley's bigger head sort of fits her goofier, fun look.
>>
>>8249012
Are all the yamaguchis supposed to be in scale with each other? Her tiny head could just mean her scale is different.
>>
>>8249026
No, they're not, the scale is all over the place through the line. I think people just feel it's jarring because Diana is literally the next release right after Harley and they're from the same universe/franchise.
>>
>>8249012
>super leggy heroic look
That would make sense. I'd be interested to see a photoshop of WW scaled up like 15-20%, I think it could look good.
>>8249026

>It always was possible, even back in the early days
Well it was case by case. The ones Yamaguchi made that had monoshaft hip articulation, the two pares of cut swivels, were likely to not have the freedom of standing "straight." And a lot of times the arms could not go perfectly down but on an angle. That's what the meme answer came from, and it was very early day memory and these anons don't look at the entire line, just their one or two favorite character and drop judgements.

Ingram was sculpted by another person (Tani Akira? the mecha guy) so that's more atypical than a complete Yamaguchi Revo.

And it doesn't help that the promo picturesm posed by Yamaguchi, are always in dynamic poses even when standing, so idiots thinks anything they don't see in those 10 pictures the figure must be incapable of...
>>
>>8249026
They try to when they can or care, might be the best answer. But by scale you mean exactly 1/12 off of official stats, then no. It's more of a relative scaling, like Wolverine being shorter or All Might being bigger. Probably has more consistency than Figuarts and Figma, but those two have made far more figures than AY.

The limitation also comes from using a fix set of joints. Same goes for the other two lines I guess, but it's hard to match certain heights if that requires making new joints slightly bigger or smaller.

1. This definitely feels a lot like Hades pod; very different from your standard figure in the line. Somewhere between vehicle and character.

2. They've definitely adjusted their plastic. Its much softer than before. Old ABs were always more "Gummy" than many figures but he's even softer than that. Because of this its easier to get pegs in and I didn't have to break out the heatgun once! They are looser of a fit than their older counterparts, but not so loose as to be useless or flimsy.

3. The array of parts is actually quite good with that core piece being quite a stand out. It seems custom made for enabling larger than normal constructions by giving you a TON of peg holes and looking good from basically every angle. I was surprised that the silver topped jaw piece actually has 3 peg holes in it, all very close together. Allows for a lot of flexibility in its use.

Overall, I think its quite a good figure and will provide a lot of nice variety in terms of pieces. Its quite the evolution of earlier concepts and I'm now very excited to see what the next figure they announce will be. I mean, I always was...but I'm even more excited now.

Oh man, I know. posing figures is to complex, I feel like I spent my whole life in posing a figure. Statues are easier to use because these come posed, this is disappointed :/

Are you the mong who tried making the same argument in the Coomer thread about Psylocke?

Women in general may be smaller than men, but Wonder Woman specifically is an Amazon, known for their height. Psylocke for that matter is also decently tall for a girl, and her figure doesn't reflect that.

Apparently this was designed with mostly completed prototype way back in 2007 but didn't get the chance of release till now. AB development stories are wild.

Revo Geo should really give up before loosing more money. Or stay away from bugs? Skip to T-Rex skeleton? Bandai has Ichiban Kuji of bugs, not articulated but looks really good.

Normally Kaiyodo makes something unique and sells and by the time other companies do something similar they quit. Not sure if this expensive high-end product road they're taking with bugs will do well compared to some IP.
>>
>>8248896
post more of your pose photos please, its pretty cool

Do AssembleBorgs work nicely as generic Kaijin for Toku figures or are they too small by themselves and I'd have to buy multiples to build a 1/12-ish monster

They're roughly the height of an shfiguarts or marvel legends figure, maybe a head shorter. Depends on the figure really.

I used my spare revo stand that has the claw on my venom, because of that. It helps because when you're balancing and adjusting, the claw arms are what moves instead of a straight peg in a hole being bent.
>>
>>8249512
i preordered the hornet because it's one of my fav bugs and i love how the revo looks vs the gacha but im sure im a niche case willing to spend on a realistic poseable insect. do hope they wont quit it entirely but certainly needs to pick their battles.

Bandai, stop! Kaiyodo can't take it anymore!

Starting to wonder if Bandai did see the Revo Geo lineup and intentionally pick what to do to fuck with them? Yo can make the argument that these are just popular stuff to go after, but at the same time Bandai releasing them beforehand is suspicious. Don't announce them and do nothing for a year I guess.
>>
>>8250892
Yeah, I just saw that today, I think it looks really good for a model kit that comes with children's magazine.
>>
>>8250892
Bandai's arguably outdoing them too. Who wants to pay $55 for a crab that doesn't even have poseable legs when you can get a fully poseable one for $5? Anyone paying an extra $50 for what essentially amounts to a snazzy paintjob and slightly larger size is a fool.

I don't want Revo to quit though. I want this animal arms race to rage on. I have been waiting over 10 years for good super-poseable animals, and I need this trend to continue.
>>
>>8251810
yeah it's a game of niches and the number really thins down when the gacha option is so excellent. In my case, I actually do want a "giant" hornet figure and the paintjob and materials on it, especially the clear compound eyes is right up my alley but definitely understand how the bandai option is much more feasible, especially considering most people collect and buy more expensive toys with more "emotional" attachment due to being based on shows.

what are the best places to buy assemble borgs stuff

Assemble borg anon here.

Right now...https://www.1999.co.jp/eng

They have the largest in stock variety of figures for good retail prices and have just opened up DHL shipping. You can also do surface shipping if you want to go cheap; I just received a package via surface shipping and it took exactly 2 months (may 1st to july 1st)

Alternatively amazon japan; though their prices are more varied, to say the least.

Otherwise, yahoo auctions and mandarake.

Hades pod is 510g, skull spartan is 303g.

I wonder if AY Spider-Man 2099 is feasible? I think the design works well with Yamaguchi's sculpt and action prowess. Downside is he's a who? to the main Japanese target. However with Spider-verse movies that's a matter of time and we know Mafex is going to make one eventually. AY likes to make certain characters before others have their chance. I'm thinking how could we get a better engineered Spider-Man because they will never remake the same character. Alternate costume beyond a simple color swap is unlikely too.
>>
>>8253560
We got Gwen well before the Spiderverse movie right? So I feel like it's possible.
>>
>>8253568
I think that was a gamble that they lost, only salvaged once that movie hit Japan. Pretty sure he made that before a hint of knowledge she would be in a upcoming film. I feel like the line hasn't done anything that bold since, movie appearance, MVC nostalgia, iconic robot, and one of the most successful manga at the moment. Maybe Deathstroke was more adventurous but he's an amalgam of everythin Yamaguchi loves. It's like they learned they shouldn't make characters only comic book readers will know and that kind of killed the fun of them revealing something totally unexpected.
>>
>>8253560
If they do this we need a new spider-man sculpt with the butterfly system they used on IM and WM
>>
>>8253667
Don't forget Batman, he did it first. With tight suit + no armor I think Yamaguchi would do the same thing as All Might, the usual side segments on ball joints. Easier to move the entire shoulder joints forwards and down for that one spidey pose.

I don't think Pixy will come with everything we see in the background, otherwise she'll be a 10k plus AB set. It's possible, but casual fans won't bite and a female action figure like this they want more casual buyers onboard. So if she's going to be separate with some weapons and small body parts, maybe that 4 legged tank thing will be included with the dog? A bundle of support units, around 5k yen. Unless they're really pushing for a cute mascot toy for cheap and saying FU to AB fans, you got your Spartans already.

It's been like this since series 2 ended. Pretty much all of Nexus run when it started beginning of 2013. After Armoroid things really slowed down. They fill the gap with reissues, and putting old stock onto the general market. Fully new sculpt comes along with 1~2 years gap. New bike was a year after Armoroid, Jarkroid about 2 years later, IO sisters a year later, Skull Spartan 2.5 years after that.

You think if I kidnap nightow's kids we'd get them faster?
>>
>>8256215
It's probably not him. If it was up to him there would be tons, the guy loves his toys.

I think it's poor distribution, not enough buyers so they don't spare that much funds for assembleborgs. So they only budget a new mold every year or so. Only solution is to increase the fan base, but to do that they need to invest heavily with ads, promotions, hell some narrative media? Actual paper books sold at regular stores could do wonders. Only people finding these are people who knew they exist. That's shitty business. Nightow can help there if there's a manga, one volume is fine, of Assembleborgs. But that's a lot of work. Stop motion animation, short videos shown where it matters, might be the best way. When a mangaka on TV was shown to be using Mr. Assemble as a pose reference, that figure immediately sold out after Kaiyodo's phones kept ringing.
>>
>>8256215
It's never his problem.
Remember we are getting toys with designs from many years ago?
I'll say it is mostly Kaiyodo's scheduling problem and funding problem.

Nah all of those old revos that were decent and are more niche IP than major brand popular are hopeless. Best we can get are reissues but that depends on the IP, or if they still have the molds.

Ones that potentially could happen if the stars are aligned, are Capcom characters like Dante or from SF (Ryu, Chun-Li, Zangief, etc). For the MvC theme of AY if they really want to go there. Then maybe Kinnikuman if we get an anime or movie out of the new manga arcs.

The one small flaw for me is that she's small. It kinda works if you ignore how tall she should be, and accept that AY males are all giants where as females are all petite women. Not quite there yet where they look like different scales. Can't wait to see what happens when All Might (or Cable?) joins the ranks.
