Train fans are among the most paypig-like demographics in existence, and I don't think "normal" people are that into trains in the first place, so I don't see much ground for the argument about lego getting new people in with this set. I think they should've made a super elaborate and expensive specialty train with inflated price instead so they could cash in all the autists' chips.

>>
>>10738871
I warmed up a bit to the loco now that we've got clearer pictures, and I like it in the sense that it's supposed to be more of an Emerald Night 2 than any particular Orient Express locomotive. I'm gonna at the least mod on some smoke deflectors and make it more like pic related. I'm also fine with no Power Functions compatibility being built in since I was probably always gonna just make a powered luggage car for the thing. Figs are cool and the dark blue train doors are sexy. Overall very pleased with how it turned out.

>>10738873
The thing with Train Simulator DLC is that you're not supposed to buy all $10000+ worth of DLC that's out there, you buy it piecemeal based on what trains and routes you like. Someone with an interested in British steam isn't going to have any interest in a DLC based on a modern day diesel route in America's southwest. There's also $10000+ worth of DLC only because the DLC from 2010 is still compatible with the newest version of the game in 2023 instead of making a new edition of the game every year like FIFA or Call of Duty do making you rebuy everything.

>>10739167
>>10739174
Okay, I see what you mean now. I'm trying real hard not to bootlick Lego but I do feel that their official sets are generally better than the submissions.
The problem is that most Ideas submissions are made digitally and the football table submission is a borderline impossible design in physical practicality. That being said the official model is still pretty awful for the price.
Personally I thought the Blacksmith set was a step up from the submission. The colors and proportions are just more appealing to me but I can understand the disappointment of some. I can't really speak much on the others since I don't own them.

The main characters of the show don't have enough flaws. They are hard to relate to, and the show is boring as a result.
>>
>>10739492
It's main flaw is that it's boring.
Boring and flat main characters who act like what executives think zoomers do. Izzy is especially bad for this, she's an anime fan and k-pop stan, y'know everything kids today like. The set builds are "lol so random" for the sake of being in a dream. As RR Slugger says, the dream world feels like an alternate dimension instead of a dreamworld, for example it would be pretty broken if the main characters could literally do anything. There's no wet dream world, you know some kid is going to make an island of naked supermodels.
>>
>>10739293
it is bothering me that it doesn't have the blue eyes it should have, but bohrok were so kino
>>
>>10739364
imo i feel they died because of a few things.
the first wave was mystery figs only, vs wave 2 that had actual "sets" for the bands. I firmly believe if they came out with the sets first, they may have lasted slightly longer.
The single MF for $20 was completely retarded. the case was awesome, but the thing was filled with shitty 2x2 printed tiles that didn't matter at all.
App tax themes always fail
and my controversial one, the figures were so unique and specialized that they didn't fit with any other lego theme. So they felt out of place. Like I still love the dragon one, but CANNOT use the torso or legs because it only fits a rocker dragon.

Tried to make a theme around dreams and creativity, I harken it to chalk zone, but with lego... but the sets have no cohesion because dreams have no fucking cohesion, so the sets are just all over the place.
And could be because I am older now, I feel they are trying too hard with colors. Instead of sticking with a solid main color and accent color, they feel the need to throw in every color under the sun that either doesn't work or just doesn't look right imo.
Like the evil theme is Black and hot pink/purple, then they muddy it up with salmon pink and yellow, and then have to have white in there too, which to me looks weird and makes it too busy.
KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid...
that is why the blob set works so well it is white, and green, with black accents. simple, and effective.

technically series 2 was "cancelled" and not released in the US, but Walmart got like, one batch in stock, for the Xmas grab bins in the middle of the aisles, so if you got lucky you might have been able to get some. (Vampire Chick was one of the best figs from that set)

I remember the sets were higher-priced than similar sets by a noticeable amount. Like a set that should have cost $30 instead cost $60 and the app music reason for that cost was simply not worth it.

Taking pictures of anything you make almost always lessens your opinion of what you made since you’re putting up to interpretation by others. Remember that there is no such thing as the perfect shot, some are better than others but photographing anything you make limits you to just that picture. You are never going to encapsulate the whole moc in one picture.

Just take a decent isometric shot and post it, if anyone gives a crap they will ask for other perspectives which you will be more than happy to provide.

Castle/nostalgia-fag here.

Yes I got it - went hard. 2x big orders, one with a big set to resell at cost when it retires (should be doable, bought under msrp), and a second eldorado that I was going to buy anyway + pab order.

It wasn't an ideal set. And fuck lego, but that's the game. I went big on the forest hideouts & blacktrons.

Also bought some dragon masters shields & a vintage majisto for when i customise it.

It really was not popular among castlefags...
>>
>>10739619

Monkie Kid and Ninjago are both literally perfect and the only complaints people have are dumb shit like "grr, I don't like mechs" and "Ninjago ate all the original themes" which can be dismissed out of hand because they're criticisms of the state of Lego rather than of the theme itself. I got all 3 sets from the new Indy wave (I still can't believe that's really all we're getting) and they're all great. The temple escape set is a solid 9.5/10. All of the traps are really fun to play with, and probably the most fun part of the build too. The boulder mechanism is really cool, and there's a very satisfying "clunk" every time you twist the knob back to set it back into place. Makes up for the lack of a regular dropping ball piece on a rail like the old one had. The whole feature with the idol is really cool too, definitely the most complex mechanism of the build, since it controls the light brick, the idol, and the falling head statue all with the same knob. The light brick also makes the set really cool in a dark room, with the light shining directly on the model. The set just looks really nice overall, the colors are great (better in-person than on the box I'd say) and I love all the foliage. Highly recommend if you're a big Indy fan.
>>
I'm sorry, but modern Lego is the best it's ever been, and Star Wars is the best theme. You might not like it, but it's true. I also love Rey and the Star Wars sequels they are actually, unironically pure kino, the greatest Star Wars movies ever made and honestly the Lego sets are by far the best with the best Lego minifigures ever made too. I also love Disney, go ahead call me a "mousecuck" or whatever your reactionary responses will be to this post, and the Disney sets are also some of the greatest Lego sets ever made, and modern Lego completely MOGS older lego garbage from the 90s it's 100% true, sorry it makes you seethe.

so I recently got back into Lego, and I've been collecting the star wars helmets but I missed out on the tie pilot / stormtrooper / scout trooper ones. The scout trooper is still reasonable but the other 2... holy shit why are they so fucking expensive?

I can definitely either gets most of the pieces through pick a brick or through bricklink for MUCH cheaper, It's just asinine that just bricks, no exclusive parts or minifigs, are selling for almost $300 for the tie pilot and it was just retired like 2 years ago.

i mean I just parted them out on bricklink and I can build 99% of both sets for around $50 each in parts which isn't bad.

the Tie Pilot though has printed 4x4 radar disks with the empire insignia and they're... fucking $55 EACH cheapest on bricklink.

Does anyone have an alternative for this part even if it's third party? like a sticker that I can use to replicate them with?

When they retire Lego Titanic next year are they likely to bring it back occasionally as a limited edition?
I ask because the set as it is is peak, I wouldnt see any way lego could revamp or make a better version of it, so i was wondering what Lego usually do here
>inb4 ultimate dust collector
Its actually for me and my history buff mum who wants it
>>
>>10741931
no way, once a set is retired it's done. the only exception for that was the early 2000s when lego experimented with bringing back various 1990s era sets briefly on lego.com.

honestly if you really want it now is the time to get it, especially since it's double insiders points right now.
>>
Forgot to add though I don't think it will retire next year, it seems like one of those sets Lego is going to produce for a LOOOONG time since it's exclusive so no need to worry about it clogging up store shelves.
>>
>>10741933
Hmm, any chance of it being discounted when retirement date is released?
I find it interesting lego don't just do a re-release of sets like this though. Maybe they'll do some smaller version years from now like the taj mahal sets
>>
>>10741937
True, thanks for your help anon
>>
>>10741943
It's unlikely to ever be discounted a large amount, at most you might see a future insiders sale that discounts it like $50-100 at most. Lego only really discounts stuff when it's not selling well and the Titanic is a pretty popular set, it's always sold out at my local lego shop.

Neilmed or Fess, they're not really different. The Fess one has a wider hole to pour salt in, the Neilmed one tightens a bit easier. You'll probably want to get one that comes with some sachets to start off with so you can get an idea of how much salt to put in, too much or too little are unpleasant. But the sachets are a rip off, you can buy table salt from the supermarket for about a dollar per kilo which works fine as long as you measure it out properly.

I have bought custom replacement stickers before but never for parts that were officially printed. You can check ebay, that is where I get my customer replacement stickers. Your other option is to just wait and see if Lego releases the expensive part again in another set in the future. Then the price will come down and that will be your time to strike.

A church/wedding chapel perhaps?
Did they already have a modular auto mechanic or was it only one of those creator sets?
A museum with various exhibit floors.

Honestly, I agree she gets "uglier" in the sequel but she can still look attractive in game. That said, it's the hairstyle that really fucks her up and does her no favors in the sequel.

Need one of those “Dave and busters” type places. When I was in Japan back in 2015, I got to visit one. Multiple stories with tons of stuff. You can skip the arcade part and just do the bowling alley and table tennis. Maybe even indoor batting cages.

Like another anon mentioned, this is just a hobbyist who makes their own creations, it's not an official set. Official Lego mechs almost never look this good and detailed, but it really goes to show what the medium is capable of. Sometimes the hobbyist will post instructions though so you can piece it out and make it yourself.

If you want to get into Lego mecha scene, there's a lot of readily-available "frames" that you can build armor plates and stuff on top of. They usually have a pretty small part number and you can plate them with whatever stuff you have on hand. You can google stuff like ReFrame (though I think the creator charges $5 for instructions but you can pirate them) and lego mech frames in general.

Bloated set. One tower is enough, the second one is just a repeat of the first one. Even the the lame trees repeat themselves. I really hate repetetive designs. You always keep doing the same steps over and over.

can you give some that are sold?

I don't like the idea of Forestmen having a big castle. I think something like small ruins adopted for a base, or a tower carved in a giant black tree would fit them more. Just not a massive castle sitting right in the open.

Also mkdanon where do you get your Lego? Last 5 years have been pretty dry as Krsh seems to be the only retailer that supplies it. They throw out/resell their old stock online afaik, which is a shame cause in the past I've had phenomenal finds such as Gadunka and 2012 Gungan Sub long past their retirement.

Danes are considered Germanic people, right? Therefore the Lego poop thing makes sense, Germans practically invented poop fetishes and all their toilets are designed for poop """inspections""" Yeah, they like to take apart their poop before they flush it to smell and investigate their "health"

It doesn't seem like that bad of an idea, especially since Lego has done this sort of thing before.
It could be like modern day England, where castles are tourist attractions.
If Lego wanted to capture the DnD audience, like they seem to be doing, they could do a set with a fantasy LARP group.

It’s to simulate the white filter found on many Nintendo-developed Switch games, the entire world is enveloped in a thick fog to mask poor performance and low-res assets. See: Mario Odyssey, Mario 3D world, and Zelda Botw. I guess Lego decided to replicate this in the Mario sets
>>
>>10743675
exactly half of them would be female

Hey, have any of you guys bought anything from the official lego.com pick-a-brick thing? Do they have like minimum orders or anything? I'm doing a special project and I need just a handful of select pieces, and I'd really rather buy from an official source than some dong on eBay.

Yes I have and going to in couple weeks. No order limit, but they add a charge if you go under a certain limit. Also bestseller and standard come from different factories and have their own limit charges. Over 55€ gets you free shipping.
>>
>>10743718
>>10743788
this and...

bricks from bestseller section are shipped fast, while you may wait couple of weeks before they send you the standard ones. Sometimes it's faster sometimes it's slower. They count bricks preciseley, so you wont miss anything like it happens in 90% of bricklink orders (or I'm just unlucky). When you order like 100s of the same brick, you may end with couple extra, as they probably weight those instead of counting.

Krsh used to be pretty good. A few years ago I would to be able to get old series CMF mini figures for 190 MKD. They seem to be consolidating operations now and smaller locations are moving to the big malls being built. I heard Lego has cracked down on their large discounts now. As for me I get them used at the flea markets and find them on the ground by the trash containers and at local flea market when it is closed.

>It could be like modern day England, where castles are tourist attractions.
Yeah that's what I was thinking of; I spent a weekend at Dover Castle in the summer (English Heritage rent out the Sergeant Major's house as a hotel/airbnb style thing) and they had a bunch of re-enactment stuff going on there for kids during the day. Could have sets based around that premise with civilians and people dressed in period costumes doing educational stuff.
Lego could have their cake and eat it too because it would be a perfectly reasonable way to have a disabled knight or a Princess with a hearing aid.
>they could do a set with a fantasy LARP group.
That'd make a great set, even if they went full retard and made it look like those goofy american pool noodle swords it could make a fun playset, but Lego City LARPers would probably be one of the most well received one wave City subtheme.

I've wondered this myself. I feel like Lego must pay these cute influencer girls to promote the hobby to normalize it to women and normies.
