Where to buy
>GSC Online Shop - some figmas only are available through their online shop
>Amiami - usual place for buying, to some people, shipping is a bit higher due to packaging
>Hobby Link Japan shipping is usual lower, but their prices are a bit higher, private warehaouse is available
>Hobby Search Japan - items stay in stock the longest
>Mandarake - search figma or フィグマ
>eBay/Amazon - only if you hate having too much money. Avoid bootlegs, you can spot them as 'Chinese version'
>http://jungle-scs.co.jp/ - Seems like you can fine some good deals here
>Check the BST threads, My Figure Collection for any offer/deal

The S shape is always good advice though. The basic idea is that straight lines tend to look stiff.

Samus' articulation in reviews seems really great even if the people doing the videos barely move the figure and don't even try any poses. They barely show that the articulation works and move it a bit to and fro. Then at the end of the video they show you the figure in the same poses as the promo pics 'cause I imagine that's the most creative they can get.
The Vietnamese slave working in QC at GSC probably puts more joy and creativity in testing the articulation of the figure before sending it off on the conveyor belt than these people who are professionally reviewing toys for a living. There is a deep injustice in the world; why do these creatures exist? Where do they come from? Who put them there? And this kind of person exists in virtually every field where observing a video about the item might be useful. Do they mass produce them? Why are they all like that?

Does goodsmile always take this long? I had always gone with amiami before for my Japanese figures. I get that I'm being a total weiner, but it feels like they're dragging their feet and the longer it takes the more it feels like they'll pull some "oops, we promised more product than we could order and we are cancelling your purchase that you have no way of getting at a fair price thirteen months later, p.s. fuck you" nonsense.
>>
>>10724911
goodsmile usa? they usually get their stuff a couple of months after japan does, i guess they send them via ship
>>
>>10724911
Like >>10724916 said, if you ordered from GoodsmileUS, there's always going to be a bit of a delay from the Japan release while they allocate the stock meant for US and ship it over. They usually send over an email when it leaves the country and then another when it ships from the US warehouse.

Why do you guys think figma is holding off on releasing more kny hashira figmas? Buzzmod has already released Tengen and now Muichiro and Mitsuri, meanwhile figma still hasn’t announced a Tengen figma even though his season has been over and the newest season with Muichiro and Mitsuri is already over as well.
Did they just give up? I kinda doubt the most popular anime in Japan will stop getting figmas though, especially of the hashira characters. The last figmas were Giyu and Shinobu who were announced years ago.
>>
>>10725755
There have been plenty of super popular series over the years and they rarely completed any group of characters. I don't think Kimetsu is going to be an exception to that, no matter how well liked it is.

I was thinking it was because buzzmod was bringing the heat because their line of kny figures could be well compared. Two threads ago, I saw someone talking about how figma would make hakama pants without it looking bad, there’s another figma called Ibaraki Doji who also has hakama pants and it always looks bad and too bulky. Buzzmod used fabric for Mui’s pants which was genius and probably the only way to make hakama pants not look awkward, but the faces and overall figure kinda bother me. Guess I’m more used to how figmas look and would rather wait for gsc to announce a Muichiro figma, it would fit more with my figma collection too since I have zero buzzmods. But if they don’t ever announce more hashira figmas like you said then I’m gonna have to bite the bullet and get the buzzmod.
I heard that SH figuarts is starting their own kny line but it doesn’t look anything special
>>
>>10725823
>I heard that SH figuarts is starting their own kny line
Great, maybe Kaiyodo, Medicos and Mafex will make KNY figures, too!
This honestly isn't a series that should be that over-saturated.
>>
>>10725681
there was a nendo event thing but there's also specifically wonhobbyg, which has its own event page that's not open until 10am japan time

>>
>>10725823

the Tanjiro looks pretty good actually
I am curious to see if GSC will go soft goods on Jigoruraku Sagiri.
They have a weird way of going about it. Like I would have expected soft goods on the haoris just like Buzzmod did, but they did preferred to stick to plastic
>>

>I saw someone talking about how figma would make hakama pants without it looking bad, there’s another figma called Ibaraki Doji who also has hakama pants and it always looks bad and too bulky. Yeah that was me and another anon discussing it, I think. I brought up an older figma that had hakama pants - not that Doji guy - and I don't see how that's any better than the Bleach knees on SHF. But when I mentioned soft goods someone also had a spergout about wrinkles and "soft goods at this scale look like shit". They certainly do look better than Bleach knees.
I ended up getting the SHF Sagiri 'cause her faces are nice but I almost hope the figma will have a plastic hakama 'cause soft goods would probably get me to buy it. Yet I doubt it will happen. They're weirdly stubborn about not using softgoods like Buzzmod does

Don’t worry, I can’t see figma doing fabric hakamas. I’d love to be proven wrong since the buzzmod Muichiro pants were the perfect choice but figma just uses fabric for capes and entire dresses as far as I know
>>
>>10726021
I can definitely see the wrinkle issue that anon pointed out here. They still look way better than the alternative, though.
>>

This is SHF Sagiri. Terrible knees but again, unless the figma goes soft goods they're bound to look not much different than that. And honestly figma has been a bit of a letdown with the faces. They can nail cute moe characters but they sort of shit the bed with more mature looking styles, mainly Power's face sculpt is atrocious.
I wonder if they're not making Yuzuriha at all or she's simply not annouced yet.
>>10726036
>I wonder how stable the dye in the fabric is over time, particularly in regards to UV damage.
My main concern is whether the fabric will stain the skin tone of the legs. This would be my first Buzzmod so I don't know if they have a bad record regarding that
>>
>>10726021
>uses fabric for capes
but only sometimes. the only figma I have with fabric elements are Nobara (Leagues above her SHF in terms of quality btw), Lancer Artoria and a few of the styles ones. For some reason despite her cape being expressive Ruby is a plastic cape character
>>
>>10726040
I'm really glad they didn't go soft goods on the socks here. My idea with Yoko is that they were considering sexy poses where she's taking them off since she's more of a coomerbait character than an action character
Honestly Mitsuri has a bunch of perfect choices. I approve of the way they did her sword with a wire instead of a few pre-set poses. I like the plastic socks, plastic shirt, fabric haori and fabric skirt. I think they did everything right with her. My only gripe is the swappable legs for a full knee bend, but the standard legs have a very good knee bend on their own so I won't complain too much.
>>
>>10726046
Was Meguca Sayaka the only time they added both a plastic and fabric cape?

Has anyone used GoodSmile Europe yet? Are they legit? How was your experience with them compared to the other branches or stores? And did you have to pay customs or do they ship from within EU?
>>
>>10726040
Yeah, those christmas socks are a deal breaker for me.
>>
>>10726068
Used, but no results yet.
It's a June 2024 release.
>>
>>10726086
To add, they ship from Luxembourg and some other EU countries according to the FAQ, so no import shit.
The only dubious thing so far is them using Shopify.
>>
>>10726068
I wanted to use them to order DX Arcueid so I can avoid extra taxes, but the site is so crappy that I just decided against it. I hope they improve the store so it can at least have a way to see your orders instead of having to search your mail.
>>
>>10726089
Don't they have BBTS tier markup though?
>>
>>10726086

>>
>>10726101

>>10726089
Ok cool, no import customs is a point in their favour
>>10726098
Yeah the website looks pretty bad, they should get around to making it nicer
>>
>>10726099
that depends it does look to be slightly more expensive than ordering from japan (by 9 bucks) BUT if you save customs it will be cheaper. Recent order of a nendoroid
53.11 Euro with shipping included + 23,xx customs fee to mafia postman.
>>10726106
isn't vat included in the price already?
>>
>>10726101
Prices on site are without VAT, it'll be added once you have to pay.
For my country it's 21%.

>>10726099
Depends I think. The (non-figma) stuff I ordered should be cheaper just because it's not being shipped through EMS now.
>>
>>10726112
only reason I provide nendo as an example is because it's the only thing I ever ordered from the official GSC store so far so the actual price from amiami might be slightly cheaper but it's still aids pricewise to ship to europe
>>
>>10726116
so the nendo would be around 63 bucks + shipping.... man what shit hobby we have
>>
>>10726112
I fucking hate customs charges 'cause I don't even know what the fuck they're charging. It seems completely random
>order €100 item
>€12 fees
>order €48 item
>€17 fees
Doesn't matter if the store undercharges, it's completely random. I have a couple bigger orders coming and I'm so fucking stressed. Whatever number I may have come up with doing the math is completely useless. It could be half of that or twice that much depending entirely on whatever random retardation
>>
>>10726121
Here they generally ignore including shipping costs when doing SAL or Airmail, but with EMS they'll include it in the value, which is why I hate GSC keeps using it on these tiny single-figma shipments. Sure they say flat rate, but that's not on the packaging slip..
>>
>>10726121
When I started the hobby I was ordering from ebay a lot and never got chardged with customs until like one day I got a letter from fedex to pay 70 bucks customs. That was only one order too so I was really shocked. So I found out how it really works and why I was never charged before.

For imports normally they have to mark the parcel as such and write down the value and then attach it on the parcel itself and ship it so it can be processed normally and you get charged. But if you buy from based neets from japan on ebay they don't know that shit and will just send it out unmarked. Same goes for some companies but you have to find one first and get lucky. Amiami and GSC will always mark the parcels.
>>
>>10726131
>But if you buy from based neets from japan on ebay they don't know that shit and will just send it out unmarked.
Just remember that even Japan Post is gonna start cracking down.
https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/ead/index_en.html
>>
>>10726130
>>10726131
I have ordered from like 4 different stores so far and I got charged entirely random amounts on every single order.
One store did not include shipping costs and declared the item as a much lower value but I got charged more than that value in taxes. If I actually had bought an item worth that much I would have paid more in taxes than the actual item. Fucking insane. Now that I have a €250 order coming it's keeping me up at night. I assume I'm gonna get charged about €70 but who knows, it could be €150. It's completely made up, aside of VAT they just tax you to their hearts' content with made up bullshit "clearance fees"
>>
>>10726139
Which country?

>One store did not include shipping costs and declared the item as a much lower value but I got charged more than that value in taxes
Could be a case of them calling bullshit and taxing from a set list they got.
Some countries will even open up and google the wares if they doubt the value.
>>
>>10726053
agreed, but every other aspect of the SHF fails, poor plastic quality, shiny, ugly joints, rigid soft plastic skirt.
>>
>>10726143
I doubt they'd be this thorough. Also the item was listed as "plastic model kit".
But if you order things from China, they always slip through. HMMM...
>>
>>10726168
>But if you order things from China, they always slip through. HMMM...
If you just mean Ali, you're actually paying VAT at checkout. Though for some reason even with DDP, they still takes ages to get through customs...
>>
>>10726172
No I mean anything coming from China. If you order from eBay, Japanese orders get taxed, Chinese orders slip through. Always. It's almost as if there were shady deals going on

Yes. That's part of the markup reason. But the important thing is that you don't need to pay the bullshit prices some carriers ask you just to de the paperwork for customs clearance. In my country I need to pay more than 20 euros for that plus the actual customs tax. It's a total robbery.

On the subject of customs, the reason you get hit sometimes and not others may be related to laws in your country that dictate how much you're allowed to spend before it gets taxed
Years ago, in my country, you could spend up to around 45€ and the package would never be held by customs because it was law that imported goods up to that value would not pay duties
Then they lowered it to 20€ and a few years back they changed it again to all packages, regardless of value being retained and taxed, even if free (in which case you have to fill out special forms, I think)
As for value, when the max amount of 43€ was crossed, they would usually hit you with a percentage based on the country's taxes (there's a specific term for it in my native language but I don't know it in english) plus a huge fee for handling the paperwork, usually 20
Then when the maximum import value was lowered to 20 they also lowered how much they charged you. Now that everything you import must be held and taxed, they charge you 5 bucks for doing paperwork or using their services plus 23% tax
HOWEVER using certain companies like DHL is pretty much suicide and getting scammed. They do not care about the rules or laws and function outside them in countries like mine. They'll charge 23% tax plus a very high handling fee plus hidden service fees and storage fees and they're very anal and sketchy when asking documents, essentially asking for very specific forms or screenshots and receipts that aren't usually required when using postal services or doing customs work yourself
I believe in the USA, DHL has a great reputation because they can import goods to a really high value without paying custom charges. I think it's a ridiculously huge value that you'd never reach from just buying a couple figures at a time, so DHL never hits them with theses fees, But for Europeans, they're extremely nasty and shady because of this nonsense
>>
>>10726364
Yeah DHL sucks cocks for international shipping.

Of course it is. But as I said, that's something I pretty much accepted over ten years ago. And after Grand Order arrived, the chances for a full stay night cast pretty much disappeared due to the huge amount of new characters.
Then again, without Grand Order the line would have died long ago.

I remember that. What a false hope that was.

I'm sure anyone who started collecting back at the beginning will understand my somewhat dettached point of view. Remember when the release of Rider was a huge surprise because until then the only servant releases were four versions of Saber for almost three years? And how the Archer prototype was pretty much cancelled until the UBW anime convinced them to make a new sculpt and release it? And finally having a Gilgamesh and Lancer felt like a dream come true.

>>10726520

Let the hatred flow, anon. This is the fault of displayshitters and in-box fags and the mouthbreathing toy reviewers who influence them. They're gonna make figures with swappable pre-posed limbs so you can create 3 poses total, they will come with a neutral face and the rest will be store exclusives scattered among every other figure in the cast. All because of normies. Normies ruin everything.
>>
>>10726634
I mean, I've never been a fan of chibi stuff, but if Amiami and MFC are anything to go by, Nendoroids sell more than any other import action figure line. More than Figma, Figuarts, Mafex, or etc. Gojo outsold even all statues on Amiami in 2021, which is nuts. Makes sense they'd put more of their effort there and in PUPs that are both cheaper to produce than Figma.
>>
>>10726673
nendos can be cute and some PUPs can look cool but I just cant get my head into the mindset of not preferring an ACTUAL 1/12 figure, like the appeal of having an accurate version of the character you can play around and pose with straight out of whatever media theyre from, it just wins by a landslide for me and I genuinely dont understand how most people dont feel the same

unless its the price then yeah, but gsc could easily lower prices and probably make more money than they are now because theyd sweep up more normies
>>
>>10726673
I don't even hate Nendoroids but the reason for Nendo dominance isn't that they're chibi, it's that they don't need to be posed at all. Nobody poses them in those display photos, they're just standing there like funko pops and this appeals to normies. Same with PUPs. Normies just want pre-posed statueshit they can plop on a display and never touch again.
>>
>>10726684
>gsc could easily lower prices and probably make more money than they are now because theyd sweep up more normies
You should assume that they know the market way better than you do. There companies are competent and they run statistic analysis and have way more info than you do.
The reason for all the jewish shit they're doing with action figures is probably that the market for them is shrinking because posing an action figure is too difficult and challenging for normies, therefore those relatively few people who are still willing to buy action figures need to be milked as ruthlessly as possible. PUP and Nendos are basically cheap statueshit. A normie with more money to blow will buy 1/6 statues. Action figures come with all sorts of problems. If you give them cool articulation then the 20IQ reviewers will complain that it's too difficult to pose. What does an action figure offer to a normie except problems?

Most japanese otaku also prefer statues, it's not only a western normalfag thing. And even if I'm not into statues myself I completely understand their reasoning (statues being bigger and more eyecatching, not wanting joints to break the sculpt, not caring about the act of posing and just wanting to have a nice looking representation of some character they like on display...)

Articulated figures have always been somewhat of a niche, specially articulated anime characters. Hell, the figma line was what popularized it in the first place (most previous attempts looked like ass) and it only started in 2008.

I used to despise statues, but the older I've gotten the more appealing I find them. My collection's about 85% action figures and 15% statues at this point. Sometimes it's about the character/series lacking any decent action figures(Dananronpa), sometimes the effects it comes with can kick a bland character design up a notch(JJK), and other times I'm just too lazy/depressed to take the time to mess with all the alternate parts import figures come with and decide on a cool pose.
>>
>>10726774
Don't give them ideas goddammit
>>
>>10726775
The only reason I bought a couple statues is that they're cast-offs with nice titties. Otherwise I simply don't understand why you'd buy a statue over a figure other than the larger size. The fact I can't interact with them makes them extremely boring to me no matter how fancy they look.
>>
>>10726769
>I realise these facts but its still very hard for me to grasp and accept how figures are not more popular. Only people who still enjoy their childhood toys seem to expand into import toys as opposed to adults newly entering into these lines.

You yourself answered your own question, the vast majority of people stop caring about toys after a certain age so when they start getting interested in these things they go for statues. We're in the minority, as simple as that.

>>10726770
I hate the isekai genre with a passion but at the end of the day if you collect japanese imports you're at the mercy of what is popular over there, they're obviosly going to give priority to these things. That's something one must accept. People here wouldn't want to accept it but the idea behind Pop Up Parade was a total success. Decent looking statues at economic prices is going to make way more money than any action figure line.
>>
>>10726788
The thing is that action figures right now seem to be past the stage where they're a niche market. They're getting both warped to appeal to displayfags (swappable pre-posed limbs, sculpt being a priority over articulation) and milked to unbearable levels (store exclusive shit and other jewery, general price inflation). They're bound to implode soon as is the case with everything in this sort of situation where the customer base is too narrow to compete with normies' awful tastes.
Honestly I would have probably drifted quickly into model kits but both Gundam and stuff like Frame Arms Girls have little appeal to me. Kotobukiya released a robot series with crazy articulation and I'm very happy about that, but they're also annoying me with the same store exclusive crap that GSC is doing except you can't find the exclusives anywhere but crappy sites like nin-nin.

How do you figure? An affordable line like pop up parades show's up and completely blows past figma in popularity right away. Even with the super popular Dragonball SHFs, there's always more banpresto figures and many figuarts zero. If you've been following imports for even a year it's incredibly apparent that articulated action figures are a niche of the figure market, which in itself is a very niche hobby. Even with anime culture being more popular than ever, it's still ultimately a niche to general audiences. Ask your co-workers that are your age, or late 20's into 30s. If they care about anime at all it's more likely they remember stuff from the early 2000s, or if it's current stuff it's just JJK, and even then most of them would balk at spending 50 bucks on a toy.
Articulated figures are a niche sub-genre of a niche hobby, and GSC is wise to it which is why they charge what they do.
>>
>>10726743

>>
>>10726831
>Articulated figures are a niche sub-genre of a niche hobby, and GSC is wise to it which is why they charge what they do.
Yeah but there comes a point where you're milking too hard and also removing things that make figures worth buying (articulation, face swaps) which drives people off. I have no intention to buy Nendoroids or PUPs so I'll probably cut down or quit. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
>>
>>10726838
>and also removing things that make figures worth buying (articulation, face swaps) which drives people off
What makes a figure worth buying for us doesn't reflect what the majority of people wants. That's the whole point of this.

>They release the same amount they always have if not more,
They don't. Even if you count generic stuff like Figma styles, the amount of releases have been dropping in recent years. Excluding rereleases/deluxe editions, there were 37 Figmas announced in 2023, 44 in 2022, 54 in 2021, 60+ in 2020, etc. If anything, they're winding down to the amount of releases they had earlier in the line's life.

Wild that Figma is fairly consistently using double joints now, especially with fairly old tech. It does work well usually, so that's fine though. I almost imagine they'd have done some sort of double figma disc ball, just with smaller ones.

Makes me wonder why the hell they didn't do it for Isaac Clarke. Also sucks they weren't doing this when Doom Slayer was being made. He could use the double knees.

I just went through actual releases, not announcements, on goodsmile info's figma page for the last 5 years, 2019-2023. I did not count DXs, re-releases. Figma style bodies with multiple versions (such as china dress in different colors) I counted as 1.
>2019
61 releases
>2020
62 releases
>2021
60 releases
>2022
64 releases
>2023
54 releases

So this was a slump year. 2024 has 22 scheduled releases using the same counting (no DXs, releases, etc,) and currently has 23 releases lined up through through June, with a 24th in August. So they still have the second half of the year to fill in. I'll admit I was wrong, I hadn't actually looked at 2023's release output yet and just saw the all time high of 2022 and assumed we were still on that track. When it comes to announcements I'd always been used to being disappointed anyway, back when we got a fuckload of them of every event it was a lot of fateshit, and I'm not a fatefag, so when I see only 2-4 figma announced that I care about it just kinda feels like it always has.
But I still don't think 1 slightly lower year is a sign of the end times. 2024 could still full up to more than 2023's releases with how inconsistent the monthly number of releases have been, but I doubt it'll hit 2022's high of 64. Even if we hovered back around 50ish releases, that's probably around the mid 2010s, which wasn't bad either. Or maybe I'm just a giant figmafag who will defend the line until it putters out I kill myself

That's what the new hit trend Acrylic Display Stands are for!

>>10727061
Wild, but I've noticed a decline myself.
Past three years, I bought in
2021: 27 figma (of which 7 older releases)
2022: 19 figma (of which 2 older releases)
2023: 12 figma (of which 3 older releases).
Also just 2 figma pre-orders left.
>>
>>10727061
I feel like those numbers are a bit optimistic. I only went through 2022 and 2021 specifically on goodsmile.info, but excluding DXs and rereleases I got 57 for 2022 and 44 for 2021(a whopping 20 of the 70 releases were rereleases, maybe because of covid) when counting only figures and vehicles. However, looking at it by releases, it does disprove the straight decline I thought the line was on. Regardless, like you said it's not the amount of releases that's the problem. Early-mid 2010s is when I bought most of my figma because that's when they were releasing the most stuff that appealed to me and to sweeten the pot, prices were 1/3-1/2 of what they are now. Lately, I've mainly just been backtracking on older figures I missed.

figma in the OP was one of the worst figma I've gotten, actually.
I mentioned it before, but this figma fresh off pre-orders arrived looking like a bootleg with the issues it had.
GSC replaced a few parts, but they might as well have sent a whole new figure.
Still stuck with the playdoh hair though, but I bought her for headswap anyways.
>>
>>10727145
QC is solid. There will always be faulty products no matter what you buy but GSC replaces it in that case. Build quality is in most cases the best in the industry. Most figures look like cut out of the game/anime. There are tons of shitposters samefagging right now though so you'll probably hear bunch of bullshit and half truths.

Imo they've gotten generally worse. I got lucky for most of my stuff, but there's always a few things that tick me off. My Yumi Yotsuya was missing a large fin on her wings and a covering for her cannons, paint was splotchy, and her hair looked like clay. It was a widespread issue too, the point where they had to offer everyone a full replacement.

My Mejiro McQueen's arms disconnect at the slightest bit of movement, had to heat it up to narrow down the ball cup so it'd stay better. Her toe joint came right out of the box, apparently because they forgot the lil peg that goes I'm between.

And then pic rel felt like they didn't think it through. Her legs are basically paralyzed due to her hard plastic jacket and because of her accessory of sitting down, she splits in the middle on the slightest shake.

Tl;Dr got lucky on a lot, but it's pretty bad when I do get QC

I took the statue pill recently... I understand it completely now. A dynamic well posed statue under good lighting can have a lot of power behind it, especially if you have micro details like clothing creases and what not that can't be replicated on an articulated figure. It has to be really detailed though, I doubt I'd ever go for an anime statue.

It feels really weird that the only japanese figure line that's got quite a large majority of its main cast and even weird bit characters is the SHF DB line, even if over half of them are P-Bandai.
Like nobody else even comes close, figma has a few that get a good way through but then just stop dead once its past the immediate limelight. Nendos aren't even much better but at least there they'll throw out a Misato or Lina Inverse or Saint Tail out of nowhere. Hell they did all seven rozen maidens years after that series was extremely relevant and years after they stopped that line dead at Shinku/Gin.
>>
>>10727465
Snail shell is just polynians for people who prefer boobs and flesh over grey penis bulge robots.

>>10727476
If only someone started a line of figures with flesh boobs and penis bulge girls...
>>
>>10727475

>>
>>10727475
It's cuz the DBZ line is maintained by Western collectors who want to have a "gotta catch em all" display. It started simply with wanting to have all Z fighters, then various forms, then villains and now the line is at a point where collectors feel they're so far in and so invested that they can't miss a single release or that they might as well grab as many side-characters as they can before they get a character that "finishes" the collection like a Kid Buu or a Janemba
That kind of collecting mentality for action figures is rare, even people who obsess over a single character and build shrines dedicated to them will usually focus on a lot of random merch but not action figures so the chances of a line hitting it big enough that you can have a huge cast or an almost complete roster is really low
That said, GSC/Max Factory are also just weird about certain decisions, like avoiding Shinji, Kaworu and Misato but making Gendo, in his Rebuild design to boot. Feels like it's chosen by staff members who want to work on their favorites rather than trying to please fans or put out a "full team" release
That said, over the years, there's been some IPs that got pretty extensive rosters in the figma line
>>
>>10727492
have you seen what Freeing chose to make Figma of? They are fucking weirdo
>>
>>10727489
Madoka is probably the closest, but I think Nanoha got most of its cast too, since it got multiple Nanohas and Fates in addition to a good chunk of sidecast.

Miss those days in the early 2010s, honestly, when there was a high quantity of releases that were cheap and simple but effective. Lucky Star making use of headswaps to essentially give twice as many characters was a good touch even if some of them didn't line up bodywise, still was nice to get something for those secondary characters.

Gendo was FREEing, right? and the only eva figma before were the 2.0 figs made in like 2009, so while you got basically definitive versions of Mari and Rei you were stuck with that awful test plugsuit Asuka since they didn't bother with the normal design for her. Its just somewhat baffling because you can see there's strange hangups the line would get on for years before something new would change the focus.
For years there were complaints of too many Generic Schoolgirls with generic schoolgirl accessories, and too many mikus, then there was too many fate characters, now its not enough of anything.

Lines get completely hung up with little word, not that SHF is a stranger to that either, going by their sailor moon line being relegated to endless reprints of the animation color versions of the senshi with no signs of reissues for Tuxedo, Super/Eternal Moon, the Super Senshi or Black Lady in sight. But it felt kinda dirty for Persona 5 to get basically the entire main cast while 3/4 took YEARS just to get their protagonists.

I believe the entity called Boogiepop is male, but he inhabits/possesses a girl, which I guess people are trying to equate with transgender. The wiki for Boogiepop also says he's a split personality that's so visually separate from his host that people can actually tell him apart from Touka just by appearance.

Either way, I think it's inaccurate to call him trans. Real bummer that it seems to be shelved. I love the design

>Meanwhile the only ones making themselves known on their Socials are those who want just Saiyans
Yeah that's the majority of DB fans on social media
But there's definitely enough people who are into secondary and even tertiary characters or else Bandai would've abandoned the idea long ago
After all, Bandai is the company that starts a line, announces and shows off fully painted prototypes, only to cancel everything after 2 releases, sometimes even just 1. If nobody was sustaining Cui and friends with sales numbers, Bandai sure as hell wouldn't be making them

I really loved demon's souls back in 2009 and I thought she would be an instant buy for me but I was hesitant to even buy the knight because of the redesign. only went through with it for the large sword of moonlight. maybe it's the texture on the wax covering her eyes or the fact her feet are caked in shit.

so annoying, its why i bit the bullet and bought the old vash revoltech, cause I know if we get any new vash figures odds are itll be of the new design
>>

It's just kind of been replaced with other Gacha trends. Happened to Fate Grand Order too, it doesn't seem like it's getting as much compared to the newer competitors
I just wish we could have the next big trendy fad be people mass loving old anime shows again so these companies pay a little more attention to releasing classic and even obscure characters. But Japan seems to hate old IPs unless they're ingrained into the culture like Gundam and Kamen Rider

Id be lying if i said I wasnt excited for more Nikke figmas but Japan going for a retro revival would be even nicer. Id definitely grab an ova version of Deunan Knute or Kanuka from Patlabor.
>>
>>10728244
Im almost the opposite. I buy just for the characters design and what franchise theyre from is pretty secondary. A Seras figma would be awesome though. Itll also force Max Factory to make a big titty character which is a very good thing.

Their price goes down very often, the good thing for being model kit is that company can do reprint as many times as they want and that keep the price down

>Deunan Knute or Kanuka from Patlabor.
Those would be great. I'd also go for Dirty Pair. They've been so close to getting figures but one set was cancelled and all the other stuff ended up being static model kits
>>
>>10728618
Dirty pair would be the likeliest retro characters to be made and Im all for that. Id get them no questions asked.
Who else is actually feasible? Its quite amazing Space Cobra and Golgo 13 have already been made. I feel like Cutey Honey, Bubblegum Crisis, Akira and Slayers have enough fame but literally anything else becomes too obscure and needs a lotto to be made.
Protect gear and Hellsing are also way overdue for modern figures. Ill be getting that fluted armor protect gear guy for now.
>>
>>10728635
I think Vampire Hunter D probably still has enough fame to get a figure if we're going by the light novels. But if they're banking on adaptations to make a figure alongside it, pretty much no chance, sadly

I buy a lot of figma and I don't feel like quality has gone down as a whole. You'll have posters saying it's perfect because they never got hit, and some unlucky people will call it shit because they got unlucky. Every so often there's a genuine QC issue and you'll know because people everywhere will talk about it, most notably realistic portraits tend to be the worst, but here >>10727144 you can see they nailed Mads Mikkelsen. When it comes to plastic quality and whatnot, I rarely break any joints on accident. I got Doom Slayer or whatever they called him, and his little joint for the pod thing did break super easily, pretty much right out of the box. I think that's the only issue I personally have had in the last few years, and I usually pick up 6-12 figma a year.

Anyone got the rundown on how good Cliff is? I have one shipped out and on the way but wanted to get another to use as one of his spooky bois.
Is Amazon jp also reliable? Bonus for any coomer anons who can tell me if blonde Eimi is worth it.

I got Yuzu and Sagiri, not too thrilled by the Sagiri reviews so far, these figures look rushed with lots of QC issues and sloppy details (faces is why I bought Sagi and they're basically a gamble). If they will suck and figmas will be better, which is likely, these will be the first and last SHFs I get.
Not sure why GSC has announced Sagiri and Gabimaru but not Yuzuriha

I hope they dont fuck up Pepeshas face. Literally the most beautiful SHF ever made.

>>
>>10735366
I'm not sure anymore. SHF prototypes seem to be entirely different than the final product.
>>

Depends on the budget and line
Berserk SHF ended up cutting corners in some areas because development+license cost probably made them really expensive. And there's a certain limit Bandai has to keep in mind when determining what they'll price a figure
For example, in order for Griffith to be a complete figure with accessories plus cloth cape plus entire big horse plus special material on the horse's cloak they had to skimp out on matte coating the faceplates and it generally has a cheaper look compared to the prototype. They could've maybe charged more but then an already expensive and high 13-14k release would've been even more and Bandai would risk losing sales which would hurt more than simply saving some cash on not topcoating his face and still having a price-point most fans would be willing to pay
Then you have low-cost, beginner friendly SHF and those turn out almost always great because Bandai wants to make a good impression and because the budget for development and license cost are usually better than something like Berserk
figma doesn't usually have problems like these, they price high and rarely skimp out on giving the figure a good matte finish. But it does bring about other issues, like lack of accessories or the recent weird design choices like ab crunches and those Gura elbows. And sometimes they just put out a stinker with sculpt problems like Denji's face
Honestly, it boils down to almost a crapshoot whether a figure will be good or bad these days. The only consistent thing is increasing prices
>>
>>10727435
Turned out to be a 5k yen kit.
16cm tall though, so she'll dommy mommy all over the smaller figma.

Only other 1/10s I have are Act Modes, but they all have headgear sculpted in. RIP headswap.
>>
>>10735342
I wouldn't worry. It'll be soft gummy plastic.

So with this and SHF Malenia, my Vyke won't be left to fester alone much longer. Good thing the line isn't dead despite Vyke's deep discount.

>That Sakura release was bullshit.
In what sense?
>Too bad fate is dead so no dark Sakura.
Yeah. the reason I did not buy that Shinji+Sakura package when it released was because I was certain we would be getting Dark Sakura, but it never happened in the end.
>>
convince me that guns are gay and cringe so I don't waste money on tomytecs retarded meme accessories that I'll never play with and disassemble and photograph

asking for a friend though, what is the the cheapest place to buy them inside the eu? can you buy gun packs with a rack included or are they all separately sold?

Racks and other display sets don't generally come with weapons kits.

See thats the problem. In theory Ami Ami or HobbylinkJapan are as good as prices for Little Armory get but I really dont know with your continents fucked up jewy import customs.

The only good gunpack for Figma that isnt Little Armory are the Marauder guns and the Dragon Horse tactical sets. Marauders gun racks are also some of the most affordable out side of doing your own DIY. The scale you see with most other gun packs is often better for Mezco and Gi Joes due to being too large.

Bootleg Figmas can be a cheap way to get accessories as the accessories are passable even if the figure itself isnt. You can also get hasbro star wars black series guns in bulk and for cheap and they mostly fit Figma.
Other than that most my guns just come from collecting Figma and other lines. Robot Spirit guns, Mcfarlane Halo Reach and of course Shf all fit Figma

Only specialty stores deal with importing those.
You shouldn't be worries about importing miniature toy guns anyways though. I had no problems importing the MMZ - which would definitely show on the airport scanners as a gun, but it transforms into a scale figure lol.

What are your favorite figmas with wings?
>>
>>10735822
Got my figma rimuru on the way and they come with bat wings but theyre the first winged figma Im getting. Unless you count the nanoha girl with the wings you attach to her shoes, I like how intuitive and straight forward the peg on is for them considering how fragile and finicky they look at a first glance impression
>>
>>10735822
of course my girl sakura, even if they aren't posable
>>
>>10735822
Akuma Homura wing, It also helps that it can be used on any figma.
>>
>>10735822
The only figma with wings I have is Shameimaru Aya. She is an alright figure, and the camera accessory is very nice to have.

>>

I've got Sakura and God Warrior and I love them both equally
Although I don't actually display God Warrior with his wings because they're fragile and take up a ton of space
>>

Gwendolyn is the regular version so her wings are more a skirt than anything

I haven't paid any attention to figma for a while and holy shit have they gotten expensive.
>>
>>10737936
Yeah even with the conversion rate in our favour I'm paying more for figma now than when the yen was strong
And shipping's a nightmare too because lots of companies are still clinging to Covid prices and passing freighter cost increases onto us
Then VAT and customs for people in Europe... it's getting seriously out of hand. Harder and harder to justify dropping so much cash on figures that are coming with less and less stuff and more QC issues
Not just figma, either, lots of brands are going this way. Sad to see
>>
>>10737952
And my response to it has been that I've been buying more model kits than impulse-buying figma designs. Though some companies tend to believe they should price them like fully assembled figs anyways...

Completely, just make sure it's shipped by amazon so you don't have any problem with the shipping or customs.
