I'm beginning to really warm up to Doom Tower. It's still not my first choice, but I'm slowly starting to like it more than Snake Lair
>>
>>10615518
Curious but why? It looks like it has 0 play features and very little space to actually put figures. Seems like the most underwhelming in terms of what you can do with it.

He was right.
>>
>>10615496
Both vehicles.
>>
>>10615537
Color aesthetic mainly. Also, it's kinda like a Horde Eternia tower, like it's a fourth tower to rival Grayskull and Viper Tower
>>
>>10615553
Of the selection the vehicles look the coolest.

All these options are shit that won't be worth the asking price. Eternia at least made sense to crowdfund. Motherfuckers you just made Snake Mountain, none of these hold a candle to that thing.
>>
>>10615562
And that is why the vehicles are the only ones that make sense
>>
>>10615568
A fuckhuge filmation Horde tank and Attack Trak aren't even on my radar for things I'd buy, let alone at a crowdfund markup. There are far cooler Motu vehicles that haven't been made yet. Snake Lair and Fright Zone I'd have been interested in, but you know damn well they're gonna be pushing over $100-150.
>>
>>10615562
Sorry bro the line is dead on retail you have to be part of our crowdfunding we can't let our merch go to the discount section get fuck sorry.
>>
>>10615615
I have space for vehicles not more playsets. I'm happy if you have the space for whatever tho.
>>
>>10615615
I want battle bones not random toon shit but I also don't want a 100 dollars battle bones.
>>
>>10615546
How fucking hard was it to see a line being canceled at retail when there's a tremendous buildup at Walmart and they refuse to go half-off? He was wrong that it would just plain end.
>>
>>10615631
>have space for vehicles not more playsets

Then you don't have space for either Attack Trak or Horde Tank. They drew figures in there for scale, those vehicles will easily be as big as a playset.
>>
>>10615666
It's not even cancelled. Reissues will still be at retail, and so will Cartoon Collection. Scott is only "right" if you ignore that he said Origins was going to outright end and if you selectively pick and choose what counts as "only new vintage line figures that weren't released at retail yet counts as Origins".
>>
>>10615679
>They drew figures in there for scale
Part of my issue with this fan vote. They gave us the most basic preliminary sketches with almost 0 specs or details about what it is we are voting for. I don't need a fully tooled prototype but show me detailed concept sketches of interior, exterior, features etc. Like give us something to work with if you expect people to crowdfund after the fact.

Sadly I don't get much sense of how many figures would fit in the Horde tank from that. (Ideally the full Filmation Horde plus Dragstor and Mosquitor)
>>
>>10615615
>Snake Lair and Fright Zone I'd have been interested in, but you know damn well they're gonna be pushing over $100-150.

That will be worth it if there's pack in figures.
Snake Lair by itself might be only worth $80, but if it was Snake Lair with 3 stretch goal figures (assuming the all got unlocked), that'd be worth 100-150, wouldn't it?
>>
>>10615496
So I don't really even collect MotU Origins, but I'm always up for some nice big tanks. The Attack Trak is cute and all, kind of like a beefed up Mystery Machine, but it's not something I'd jump through hoops to pick up.

The Horde Crawler on the other hand looks so ridiculous that I must have it. If it's really as big as that figure implies, it'll probably even work with figures bigger then the 5" MotU:O guys. I always found vehicles more fun to mess with then playsets anyway, especially vehicles that can double AS playsets, and that behemoth should have tons of play value.
>>

Instead of the Crawler, they should be trying to crowdfund an aircraft carrier with Hordak's head on it. At USS Flagg size.
>>
>>10615707
This is the mentality that has killed other crowdfunds. Stretch goals shouldn't determine the worth of the campaign, the base product should. And if the base product is priced at a ridiculous point, the stretch goals won't be reached.

I'm skeptical that Walmart will stock several pegs of the new figures now that the cartoon is over and the movie is back to in-limbo.
>>
>>10615905
They stock all kinds of low selling crap, it all depends on the buyer and contract. The store sold 5 moss man stes in just 2 days, that's a fast $200 extra toys wasn't going make unless they bought moss man on the shelves. Plus I think people outside of the general may enjoy them, not as much as the wweternia stuff, but I see a cross over appeal.

Will/has the shelf space been decreased?

>>
>>10615496
>Two large filmation vehicles and a tower
Is Mattel really confident or just hoping that the cartoon line will do well at retail? I don't have the room or interest to restart and collect the toon line. So I guess I'll just vote for the Snake Lair. That lazy Fright Zone is a real missed opportunity.
>>
>>10616334

Once they finally make Two-Bad we should have every vintage figure that appered in 200X. Filmation does worse as we still would be lacking Modulok, Multi-Bot and Stonedar.

The doom tower is my favorite after fright zone(which is my favorite motu toy ever, really pissed it's included in this vote).
Like other anon said the aesthetic is top tier, and I think it's a bit larger than it appears too. Things like the clear green laser gate and the cell/medical/transformation chamber are super cool, and there's neat things like the computer consoles, weapons rack, ladder, and areas on the sides of the tower to scale it and fight off the tech tentacles. I'd also like to imagine their might be features hidden should it actually get made, like perhaps a light up function or something special with the chamber on the first floor. It just looks super cool and very unique for a playset. Something like the snake base is just another grayskull clone, and don't get me wrong, it's neat and I'd get it, but it doesn't feel like anything particularly new or unique. It's a homage set instead of something new, risky and interesting like the doom tower.
>>

Doom Tower is definitely the best.
>>
>>10616673
I feel like it's best in importance (if you care about Filmation) and visual but seems to be low on play features or even places to put figures on.
>>
>>10616699
1) movable robo tentacle arms/legs
2) opening laser gate
3) opening containment celll/mutation vat thing
4) fold out ladder
5) weapons rack
6) computer terminal
7) hordak throne

Is what we see in pictures. I think a big selling point would be if the face out front was light up. There's also a couple of places to stand on the outer walls of the tower itself, and it looks like the steps might fold down revealing the throne which means something else neat could be behind them.
Its tough to really judge from such a basic preliminary sketch but I feel like it has the most potential by a mile.

>>10616673
>>10616699

At most, it looks on par with the Central Tower as far as play features/holding figures.

Im about to put my votes in. I was procrastinating. Also couldnt decide. I dont want a snake castle, but more playsets are better and it would make a cool backdrop and we dont know what the other side will have. Doom tower doesnt have enough floorspace for my liking, but does have potential. Still slightly undecided I guess.
Why the hell didnt they do a slime pit combo with the fucking fright zone wtf ? Hope they think about that as an add on, but dont make it a shit tier or whatever they do.

You sound decided to me. If you don't want a Snake castle, you don't want a snake castle, no "buts" necessary.
You're only gripe about Doom Tower was "not enough floor space", but you didn't say you don't want it.
You've already picked Fright Zone and Doom Tower, why continue to dicker about it?

>>10617907
I cant help but dicker around, I wish there were better choices to choose from. Truth be told I am, the limited floorspace on the doom tower is a bit of a deal breaker for me - in terms of actually wanting it, but acknowledge that it has potential and is popular with many, that can be seen here clearly.
I am not big on the Snake Men - so my first feeling are, oof dont want that. In terms of playability and probably better for pics, their Castle got my vote in the end.
Cant help but feel lightly salted with the choices we got here cuz "large scale" means something bigger for me.
>>10617601
Dont want to seem like the other anon here having luls, but I dont think we are going to be seeing any playsets in retail going forward, unless they plan for filmation ones - I guess that may depend on the sales when the time comes.
>>
>>10618519

If it gets funded I wonder if any filmation fans would be willing to sell the smaller Trak to vintage fans. I have no use for the giant toon version but would like the vintage styled one for a reasonable price. Maybe I'll make it my second vote after all.

That actually got me hoping they won't actually make it a two-seater. Much like you I don't really want a giant toon version, but if it's scaled down to more toy style, much like how the Wind Raider could only seat one, to keep the size and cost down.

But I guess we'll see.

Speak up if you think MotU was at its most interesting from 1985-7.
And if you agree with me, when were you born? Did you see the vintage toys in stores when you were just old enough for action figures and notice that characters like the Horde, Snake Men, Extendar and Two Bad were all unique while these other guys had the same couple of bodies with different heads? Did you watch the 2002 show as a kid and that led to looking up the vintage era?

I'm 25 and the second wave will always be my favorite. Ram Man, Manny, Tri-Klops, Trapjaw, Evil-Lyn, & Faker are near-perfect in terms of checking off all 3 of my criteria for a "must have" motu figure.

>1985 aside from Moss Man and Stinkor being straight repaints and wishing Mantenna and Leech both looked cooler to do their concepts justice, no complaints. Possibly peak year.
>1986 loses the plot a little. Two rocks are redundant; leader of new faction a total dud but his mooks end up two of the best figures in the line; and no Evil Warriors this year; but the trio of Snout Spout, Extendar and Rio-Blast make up the single best Heroic Warrior assortment; and Dragstor is underrated
>1987 does not deserve any hate or looking down upon except for maybe the Energy Zoids because they're an acquired taste, and my only nitpick outside of it is not liking Ninjor having a soft goods hood. Might rival 1985's assortment

200X was my big introduction to the series. MEF, Mek, and Roboto were my favorite heroes and like most kids I thought the Evil Warriors were the most badass shit on the planet. The thing is I never saw any of the toys in stores. In fact the only time I saw 200X stuff in a store was when a bunch of Heman and Skeletor repaints were on sale, but because they looked so odd I was confused as to what they even were (I was 4 at the time). When I got a little older and gained internet access I researched the vintage line endlessly. Like >>10619745 mentioned the second wave is pretty great, but I cant really boil any one wave down to being my favorite. I have a soft spot for everybody, even the goofier "boring" guys. In terms of what I consider the most interesting chunk of vintage, its probably the combo of foreign or obscure variants, preternian dinosaurs, the fright flyer, and the unreleased 88'ers.

Yeah?

For me it's:
>Modulok
>Multi-Bot
>Skeletor (esp Dragon Blaster)
>Hordak (esp Hurricane)
>Scare Glow
>Leech & Mantenna in Origins
>but Rattlor, Kobra Khan & Tung Lashor in vintage

What
>>
>>10621338
Mattel shows off Night Stalker at SDCC, so he'll be going on sale in a few months.

Meanwhile, Stridors are going on clearance at retailers. >>10620443 suggests buying a second Stridor to "repaint for Jitsu" (ie, repaint it as Night Stalker.)
By the time Mattel puts Night Stalker out, people will have filled up on clearance Stridors to make their own Night Stalker to save themselves time and money.
Mattel makes silly Beast Man face because they've made Night Stalkers that will not sell because everyone has already made their own for less.
>>
>>10621380
>people will have filled up on clearance Stridors to make their own Night Stalker to save themselves time and money
Somehow I think that's just wishful thinking.

For one thing, do you know how to take Stridor apart, which you will most certainly have to do in order to paint over the whole friggin' toy? How many MOTU collectors have ever even painted a model kit? I bet most of them would just turn out the kind of repaint that would make the modeling general scream "THIN YOUR PAINTS" a lot.

Friendly reminder that Slither goes on sale in a few hours.
Who's buying one?
>>
>>10624427
I'm getting two, AND I fuckin voted for Snake Lair. Also her cape is 100% a pretool for Shokoti so that's very based. On her own she looks great, may attempt to paint some fangs on one of them.
>>
>>10624427
I think most of Slither is pretool for other toys.
>>
>>10624476
Other than the cape and trunks, what else is pretool?

The arms and legs are reused from Teela and I can't think of anyone else that could use the head and torso. And the snake tail would require another brand new character so I wouldn't call that a pretool either since it's unique to her for now
>>
>>10624486
The tail is setup for another round of snake troop builders. The box shows a red snake with the cobra hood head.

Oof, those jackasses claiming she would be up forever like Motherboard are in for a regret.

Motherboard on the flipside is oversized even by Mastervetsr standards, Masterverse never sells out anyway and she's from a famously hated cartoon

What are your Terroar headcanons? If we go by classics lore and the snakes are amalgamations of DNA like it's Jurassic Park, I have to imagine Terroar is more dinosaurman than snake. Maybe his robot arm and legs are the result of him being blown up, too, like mecha Frieza.
>>
>>10625619
I really want to like this guy, but all I can see is a bluish-purple Whiplash with a Trap-Jaw arm. He has more mixed parts than someone as simple as Stinkor, yet somehow feels substantially less unique.

>>10625690
This is something that fucks me up. He way obvious parts reuse than others and then as I try squinting and convince myself it's a new character like with rest of that wave, Classics bio suddenly tells me that this is intentional and that I'm suppose to see the parts reuse which double fucks with me.
>>
>>10625690
I wonder if Stinkor feeling more unique to you has to do with him actually having a unique gimmick, where as Terroar is basically "look, I ripped of Rattlor AND Trap Jaw's gimmick. Do you love me?"

Maybe if he did something neither of the others could do, he'd feel less derivative. (maybe he actually was supposed to, idk how much background we have on the development of the vintage version)
>>
>>10625122
My priorities are Two-Bad, then Blast-Attak and Modulok then Rio Blast and Multi-Bot and I'm flexible about the rest.
>>
>>10625993
Hot take, but for me, Blast-Attak deserves to supercede even Two-Bad because he's the last missing piece in multiple display options:
>as noted above, he's the last to remake the doors of doom
>we have Scare Glow, Ninjor and Faker so he's the last to recreate Star Comics issue
>we have Beast Man, Evil-lyn and aforementioned Ninjor so he's the last to recreate the Power Tour
>we have Trap Jaw, Tri-klops and Whiplash if for some reason you want to recreate Revelations ep 2 with Origins

Two-Bad by comparison, other than finishing 1985 villain roster doesn't really factor into any particular teams or line ups. Even in 200x, he mostly operated on his own afaik

Therefore, Blast-Attak deserves to come first (he won't of course, but he should)
>>
>>10625803
That seems high, I usually only see mattel exclusives that high.
>>
>>10625847
From what I understand, Terroar was actually supposed to have his own unique gimmick as well in form of a toy squeaker similar to the one from fisher price's dino-roars line of plush toys
>>
>>10626050
>even when origins moves to MC they wont return the gimmicks
>>
>>10626082
What do you mean? Sy-klone, Extendar and Rokkon were all confirmed to retain the gimmicks.

Or do you just mean Terroar specifically won't be given a voice box to mimic what his toy would've done if it never got cancelled?
>>
>>10625619
based terroar post.

I always imagined him to be the snakeman medic in addition to being thr much more educated and well spoken older sibling to whiplash. Whiplash is a snakeman too but he went off and joined the evil warriors after learning the snakemen considered him an brutish idiot. Also I like to imagine Terroar sounds like Lou Tenant/Lieutenant from FO1

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8U9T8Z_Ayhw
>>
>>10626089
the latter, although Im still wary of Rio losing nis gimmick. If they did include Terroar's intended gimmick however I'd begrudgingly rush to try and snag one of MC.

>>10625072

>>
>>10626018
I would still count 200X because we have every other vintage character that showed up in the series. Also, last (toy-based) Skeletor minion from Filmation (unless you count Modulok).

He also appeared in numerous art teases. He's the last piece to recreate FF He-Man vs TC Skeletor artwork for example.
>>
>>10625803
I have never seen him in store and online stores do not have him instock at retail. I misses out on him and now Im just hoping he pops up at Big lots or Ollies like the Flying Fist and Claw Attack Skelly did. Those were also rare in stores.
>>
>>10626018
>>we have Scare Glow, Ninjor and Faker so he's the last to recreate Star Comics issue
What is it with that comic that it's so often referenced? I dont recall people saying they want to do Return of Keldor or something.
>>
>>10626185
I can't speak for anyone else, but it's simply because it's the best piece of Blast-Attak vintage fiction we have. He actually has personality and is pretty funny.

Compare thst to his minicomic where he barely talks and is more like an afterthought, or a slew of magazine or comic strip appearances that virtually nobody knows.
>>
>>10626195
Then saying we need him to recreate his comic is kind of self-fullfilling propecy, isn't it? Like saying that Strongarm is needed so we can recreate She-Demon episode.
>>
>>10626198
Not really? With Strongarm arm that episode is his ONLY appearance. The Star Comic isn't BA's only showing, it's just the best one

The names we use for them now were created by Scott or someone during Classics. Thry were unnamed in the material that they were discovered in with the sole exception of Strobo because he was actually in a random magazine comic from 88 or 89.

You'd need a lot of bosses to recreate the easily-pleased sense of joy I got from Tokka and Razhar from the movies and D-listers existing alongside the main 1987 villains in Turtles in Time and The Manhattan Project for NES.

So if we assume 10 levels and you don't fight the Horde...

Mer-Man (either a water level, or what makes fighting him different is that you're on stepping stones in the water and he pop-up attacks)
Beast Man on Gryphon
Trap Jaw & Spikor in a smithy or the like (most fans would want Tri-Klops, but he'd be so boring)
A Faker for each player
Blast Attak (does damage when he explodes, then the two halves tag-team you, a bit like Arcade Game Krang)
Kobra Khan with sleep breath, gun, etc. (most fans would try to work at least King Hiss into the same level)
Saurod & Blade
Evil-Lyn
Skeletor in multiple forms

That's 9 levels, 11+ bosses
Not sure what would be next-most interesting. Webstor crawling on the walls and webbing you? Stinkor's stink harming you in melee range (would players even have ranged attacks?)? Scare Glow's scare seems hard to implement, Two Bad would be boring, Ninjor might be boring and Jitsu is worse, Trap Jaw can grapple like Clawful and do more besides, Whiplash would be too boring if we could do Rattlor and other Snake Men...
Filmation villains are probably no-go. Draeg-Man? A vehicle fight where you're chasing Pig Boy with the Havoc Staff and Goat Man defends him?
>>
If we're getting POP only in Filmation style, how much you would be upset over lost gimmicks? Anything else you would miss?
>>
>>10627810
All the PoP characters I want never had toys anyways.
Unless you mean giving Razz a breast reduction. I would rage quit so hard that I would sell my Motu collection.
>>
>>10627761
>and you don't fight the Horde

But then you don't get a Hordak boss fight where he utilizes both Hurricane and Buzzsaw powers, and where's the fun in that?
Even if he's the only Horde boss, you need a Hordak fight
>>
>>10627810
I just want to brushy
>>
you know what would be neat? if ramen tkys came out with a bunch of origins compatible figures based on D list MOTU characters and concepts that would never have a chance appearing in origins otherwise. draegoman, goat man, mammoth man, witch lady, basically everyone vintage never got to and mattel is going to maybe make one or two exclusives out of.

>Who would be playable?
Presuming it'd be based on Filmation, Adam, Teela and Man-At-Arms would be locks for the core playable cast, but you still need a fourth. Orko feels more like the guy who shows up in the background to give you support goodies. Cringer is definitely a rideable. Maybe Ram-Man? I always vaguely got the notion he lives at the palace. He seems like he needs a minder.
>>
>>10627865
>Even if he's the only Horde boss, you need a Hordak fight
Good point.
>>
>>10627633
I'm gonna go with some "out there" character choices.
Aside from He-Man, playable characters will be picked based on "are we throwing a nod to fans of each era of the original line?" and "whos power/action features would result in the fun and unique fighting styles?"

Playables will be Ram Man, Mekaneck, Sy-klone, Snout Spout and Sorceress.

Maybe not the most popular choices, but Sy-klone with spin based moveset and Mekaneck using neck extension incorporated in his moves would be more fun to play than Duncan. And Sorceress would be a more fun token female than Teela or She-Ra because you could give her moves where she partially or totally transforms into a falcon, like maybe a super kick move where her foot turns into a talon when it connects
>>
>>10628025
Extendar would be strictly more (fun to play) than Mekaneck, though.
>>
>>10628039
Yeah, but since I set myself the "1 per era", I had to choose between him, Buzz Off and Fisto, and of those 3, Mekaneck would be the most fun imo.
You're not wrong about Extendar at all, btw.
>>
>>10627761
To be fair Scare Glow would allow for a nifty “spooky” stage.

Loving Slamurai. got him and snake mountain at Frank n sons the other day. Haven't opened mountain because I literally do not have space for it to go. :(
>>
>>10628597
So is slamurai really worth it? I have ninjor and he was a bright spot of that wave but budget and space concerns I'm just not sure if I want to spend $20+ on a repaint.
On spending, I really wish I could've got two lady slither. I don't open the exclusive figures but damn she looks awesome. I just want her on my play area for months.
>>
>>10628727
>So is slamurai really worth it?
I say yes, only because I love him personally. I dont have ninjor so i cant speak to the repaint situation but i do want him for the yin/yang type vibes.
I love how white and clean slamurai is. and the nunchucks are sick. only thing is his skin color is a bit orange-y

A MOTU beat-em up would only really work if there's a fuckload of playable characters a la Castle Crashers.
>>
>>10628966
No. What you mean is a fighting game. You need alot of enemies to beat up for a beat-em up game.
>>

>ramen tkys came out with a bunch of origins compatible figures based on D list MOTU characters and concepts that would never have a chance appearing in origins otherwise. draegoman, goat man, mammoth man, witch lady

Of all those, surely Goat Man is too much of a low hanging fruit for Mattel to pass up on, right? Except for the head and possibly armor, everything can be reused from others

>I like how TMNT does their 1 foot soldier model in the new game. Wish the same developers would make a MOTU game.
The different-colored Foot Soldiers in TMNT beat 'em ups have always been charming. I sure wish Mega Bloks had released their Fred Wolf/Konami sculpt in all those colors.
>>
>>10629153
Agreed actually, I still like him in MOTUC even with the snarling face but if he makes the Origins run it would be cool to get something closer to >>10629104 this time.
>>
>>10629104
I've always liked that Whiplash variant and would happily pick him up if MC sold him. I know the focus is shifting to filmation versions but I hope we still get a few variants from the old mini-comics, concept art, and golden books. There all great sources to pull from. I still really want a magenta mini comics Faker, such an easy repaint c'mon Mattel!
>>
>>10629302
Mattel gave the impression in a Q and A with adultcollector that non-Filmation and non-vintage options would still be happening in Origins, so at least SOMETHING will get mixed in
>>
>>10627810
Most of POP gimmicks are minimal (Frosta's spinning staff) or just odd (Bow's heartbeat) and even when they play to their powers they feel a bit off (Mermista shoots water from her necklace, Perfuma makes flower emerge from her backpack-cannon-thing). They're not as integrated into their designs like many motu characters who just can't be imagined without their gimmicks like MEF or Extendar. If you told someone they were originally cartoon characters and then toy designers tried to figure out how to give those characters' figures gimmicks, they would believe that. I guess Double Trouble"s gimmick (if they would make her) feels important but those 2 faces so underwhelming even that feels questionable.

So who needs theirs...Mermista needs swappable fish tail. Entrapta could use articulated hair. Netossa's cape hopefully looks at least a little decent at a net weapon. So I'd say the only character who would be likely screwed is Spinerella.
>>
>>10629455
I don't know how many POP collectors exist, but it'd be a dick move to them for Spinnerella to be anything but vintage recreation with more articulation. She's significantly rarer than Netossa and the other 1987 figures, selling for as much incomplete or with repro accessories as the 1988 MotU Laser figures do complete.
>>
>>10629500
She could even have her original gimmick since it's a separate accessory, like Clamp Champ.
>>
>>10629500
General impression I get from PoP collectors is they don't give two shits about the vintage line, they just want cartoon accuracy, so I can see them being fine with no gimmicks as long as it's filmation
>>
>>10626519
Seeing how expressive Skeletor, it's a real shame that He-Man heads arent nearwhere close to that. He basically has neutral, kinda angry and kinda angry open mouth.
>>
