Well sheeeit. I could nitpick the jet mode, but Hastak's released plenty of figures with ugly jet modes that didn't have to form a third mode. Overall, that's damn impressive for a real-world triple changer.
>>
>>10414133
Possibly. They did change some of the colors on the full-sized one to improve the look. I think it needed a larger torso too, but I'm impressed that the feet also had beast and bot modes.

I think I need to start asking you guys for recommendations, or at least get advice on how to find out what's out there that's not in active production.
I collect fembots (mostly), and found out about the Perfect Effect RC practically outta nowhere. I knew about PE from their Aranea figure... of which I have the KO Magic Power version.
I managed to snag this one for $60 AUD total off eBay after spotting it there by chance, and honestly, I think it's pretty nice at that price.
Not without its flaws, the plastic would be pretty easy to flex out of shape and it's not exactly easy to transform but it's a welcome addition to my under-served fembot collection.

The KO Magic Power Blackwidow for quick comparison.
The Magic Power one is better and worse in a few ways. The plastic is sturdier and more resilient, but the tolerances are all over the place and the weapons are difficult to plug into place when they're not in-hand.
It's a shame that the original Aranea is impossible to get and the KO has an inflated price, its design is really nice.

I was also tempted but since the two other members are gonna be purple like Tarn won't these two stick out like a sore thumb? The blue one kinda blends but the red on will look out of place. In the 1st release everyone had their colors so it looked ok but here only these two have different colors.

It looks horrible what the hell is that snout in dino mode? He looks like he's in pain, the head in robot mode looks generic as hell looks like those countless chinese gundam ripoffs.
Also was it so hard to give him those 2 side cannons in Dino mode since he even have the holes for them? Have 3 dinobots come with 2 guns and the other 2 come with 2 swords not everyone needs to have a sword and a gun.

My only hope is that the legends scale is more accurate to the concept art.

My plan is to bench the chairguy (hehe) and use the new cannon filler for the combined mode. And yeah the blue rifle shouldn't look too off.

Speaking of the cannon filler, it is molded in a slightly lighter shade of black compared to the old version's combiner parts.

I don't think it's the only reason, it is far easier to get space for a Legends collection than a MP one. Only combiners and bigger bots take more space while keeping the scale rather than every bot being at the size of a legends combiner and MP combiners being around the size of a toddler.

It's by A17/GW Studio, that one IronFactory customizer that released this non-transforming OP and some 3D printed kits. I don't think they've confirmed the Predaking for mass production yet. Even if it is a mass release, they still have an IDW Starsaber and Legends Fortress on the way so it might be an IF-length wait.

Ah crap I remember those guys I wanted that Optimus, their star saber and their customized IF drift into Hot Rod but unless you know how to deal with Taobao and other china only sites you can't get this, I wasn't able to find it on Aliexpress and they don't deal with Bombusbee or Showz.
A pity if they relaunched that optimus and those other ones in Showz or other stores it would be an instabuy.

>>10415752
Yes and no, if you lack the space then yes, however some people like myself have the space but prefer not having them occupying too much space, also a legends class figure is far easier to handle than a MP, some MP are so big they are physically demanding when transforming, legends scale even if they have a complicated engineering are easier to transform. Just today I transformed my G creation wrath and that shit requires full attention to transform it and I still didn't managed to transform it right while I have some legend figure in my desk that I transform mid work.
The reason I have the Gcreation Wrath is because he serves well as a legends movie Grimlock alongside AoE Optimus and Trumpeter Bumblebee next to MS Optimus, Newage Bumblebee and MK Grimlock, they look pretty funny looking at each other versions of themselves.

The transforming aspect is pretty core to my collection, although toyline loyalty isn't really a priority for me.
There's some room in my collection for non-humanoid transforming figures as well, so I've got both of those Number-57 motorbike kits which are pretty fun for what they are, and they were quite enjoyable to put together.
I dabbled very briefly in the Transformers model kits to see if non-transforming figures work for me but they don't quite fit what I'm after in a hands-on experience in a way that I don't really know how to articulate.

>>
>>10416426
Oh yeah, there's that pink & purple fem-jet that rivals Eris Kultur in height. It makes me laugh that the cheapest toy in my collection is also the tallest.
It's an garbage toy by pretty much every measure and the transformation feels unpleasant given the shoddiness of the plastic, but I love it nonetheless because it's cute and adorably awful. The die-cast wings are heavy and make it surprisingly nice to hold, I've currently got that resting on a flight stand in jet mode since the jet looks pretty sweet.
Thanks for showing me that image, I'll have to do a reverse image search and start looking into it.

Indeed I do, it's a lovely toy and was the first Transformers purchase I made as an adult. It's actually what got me back into collecting Transformers as the stuff from my childhood was thrown out not long after my parents broke up years ago.
I unfortunately got a bit heavy-handed on the transformation so one of the back panels is now bent out of shape and misaligned. Doesn't bother me too much since it doesn't affect her robot mode and she looks amazing in that form.

The Beast modes suffer from the simplification, but for what Alixpress charges for it, it's an amazing set. It's misassembled color-wise in a lot of spots between the individual bots, but nothing you can't fix with just a screwdriver.

Not him but it seems to be a stereotypical boombox that's not based on one specific thing.

Sometimes the toon gets it right to the toy more than people would notice. From what I see, both the toon and toy have the same cassette dock shift.
>>
>>10418742
I didn't buy NA because they tried to sell me three sets of mediocre bots on top of the suit which has its own fee.
The boxset evens out the price and it even has the new parts, but the individual bots still don't really match up to MS, especially Hook. Combined mode edges out MS, which is interesting because the suit has built in shoulders but its range is not much better than MS. NA is better but it's not by much and that's baffling to me.

>I don't care for the transforming gimmick
Weird, I don't understand why people that don't care for transforming collect transformers
there are plenty of non transforming bots out there
>>
>>10418940
I 100% agree (transforming is what makes Transformers cool and fun!), but some people have become attached to the characters (for whatever reason) and the transforming aspect is less important to them than the design.
>>
>>10418940
Well when a Gundam transforms, it looks like a folded up robot.
>>
What I wish someone did, is either soundwave or blaster, but as WORKING CLOCK RADIOS.

I wanna have knobs and buttons that do shit and have working speakers, we don't need a cassette tape reader, just a cheap fm or am/fm radio and some speakers, make the articulation have stops if you need so nobody can twist the limbs too far for the wiring inside, just fucking make them into working audio units so I can have a lil working boombox that becomes a robot who isn't a clunky 1908's toy that dwarfs all my other bots while being underdetailed.
>>
>>10418950
That was costed out in the transition to Transformers.

That's not what I want, having one that acts as a storage drive unit isn't the same as not needing to connect shit to the boombox to hear music from it.

I wouod have thought some third party would give it a go, even if only to make soundwave say voice lines, it would allow a cheap radio to be soldered in if there was already some level of soundboard and speaker integration.
>>

As a teen, I had a Deluxe Universe Starscream.
I... "lost" him, so I bought a new unopened one last year.

I noticed that his legs were different. They're made of regular plastic, while I remember the one I had were die-cast, I think.
Does that mean it was a knock-off? It's kinda bothering me.

Neither of those options have what I'm looking for. Also as bizarre as it might sound I like the way transforming toys look even if I rarely transform them because all the panels and depth and parts make it feel more three dimensional and "real" than a nontransforming figure where it's obvious it can't transform.
Just as an example, a lot of non-Transforming versions of Daizyujin/the 1993 Power Rangers Megazord often make the Sabertooth Tiger's legs into just a facade or the tail of the triceratops far more flat without the detail of the tail gun being separate.

>>10420564
It's a strange paradox of quality.

The mold's great, it has strong ratchets, poses great, but the plastic feels like early-3P grade, it's not particularly dense, and some of the alt modes are a bit iffy. To be fair that last one is pretty symptomatic of all Sixshot figures, I've never seen a one 3P or otherwise that really did the alt modes well.

Bottom line, it's still a pretty great figure, was good enough to get me to sell my TR Sixshot after getting it, which was always a case of settling anyway.
>>
>>10420646

It's just nitpicks but I don't like how shiny the fur is compared to the gunmetal parts, so it kind of clashes to me. Maybe it'll be better in person though. I liked the toy robot head more than the show model too but that's the shows fault.
>>
>>10420757
Understandable desu. TransArt is basically known for fucking something up almost on purpose.

TM Primal: His gun holster is really...terrible. Barely holds the gun at all. For me personally they sent 2 of the same face in robot mode. I've heard that the robot feet pegs for the surfboard are delicate too. Mine hasn't broken though.

TM1 Cheetor: Backpack tabs in, but not to anything that looks intentional. It's by friction on some slippery vacuumized metal plastic. Robot hands are also engineered extremely weird.

Ravage: Rubber hands and accessories just fall out. It's like the plastic of the arms hate the pegs of the hands. They're long too so it makes almost no sense.

TM Megatron: I love/hate this figure because the mold itself is beautiful and the paint they used is great. But, they missed a ton of detail that is in the show and it's weird because they're usually detail oriented. The light up eyes sucked, they left the chrome bits off the shoulders and thighs, they did little to no painting of his helmet or face pieces, the 'skates' are extremely fragile, the die cast of the feet dig into the leg paint no matter how careful you are, the robot arms are almost too weak for the weapon. I ended up painting mine a bit and am trying to find a decent way to 3d print the extra missing detail pieces.

Rattrap: They for whatever reason released a second version with better colors for the neon orange bits. The Beast mode hind legs are extremely hard to move without ripping off the wheels. I've seen people snap off the arm on the figure too. I also had to fill some of the ball joints with plastic to pad it out because he was loose after like 2 transformations. Ottherwise great looking figure.

TM2 BlackArachnia: This one I thought was going to be a winner even with the backpack removal which doesn't really bother me, BUT...there is no wrist swivel, her joints are tough, there is tons of reports of breakage of the spider legs.

These pics and a silverbolt have all been teased by TA; and given their commitment so far I think we'll have most of Season 2-3 within 5 years.
Transart is definitely not perfect as a company, but I respect the hell out of them for sticking to their lane. Way too many companies lose track of plans and it becomes hard to commit to purchases if you can't plan a display around them.
I don't collect Legends myself but I think part of the reason they got so poplar is that New Age and Magic Square set out to do the 84-85 lineup in Legends and has proven to do so in a short amount of time. Where as people still have empty spaces where they planned certain MP G1s from takara and 3P to go.

Easily the best jet mode and transformation out of any of the offerings. DS and the Takara strong arm you into a toon display (like mp 36 and acoustic wave from fans toys) owning both maketoys and the ds, if the was actually able to be transformed without ruining the paint and being a frustrating nightmare and wasn’t completely matte throwing off my shelf it might be worth considering but for now it remains a gift for people who don’t transform their figures.

There's the BW Masterpiece scale for toon accuracy started by Takara several years back and it's mostly supplemented on the 3P side by TransArt toys
>>10420775 >>10421289 >>10421385

Hasbro started doing brand new molds of old BW in their main lines starting in Kingdom like 3 years ago. They've also launched reissues of the old Kenner molds around the same time. Not much 3P adjacent to these beside 3D printed addons, best if you go ask the other gay thread.
>>
I know this is a long shot but i'm hoping someone can help me. A while back i saw a picture in this thread that I believe was Lio Convoy (I don't know much about transformers) He was on one knee and holding a big weapon, maybe an axe? I want to say it didn't transform, but i could be wrong about that. Does anyone have any idea what figure that could have been?

It was Lio convoy (with the big lion head on his shoulder) in this pose basically, but instead of a sword it was big axe i think. Or maybe a spear

I never owned the IF Slipstream, but it looks like it is a small retooling.
Thigh swivels are a welcome addition to any figures articulation (particularly at this scale), so it's a welcome refinement.
I feel like a further enhancement with wrist swivels/ball joints and a waist swivel wold make it practically perfect but at this scale both of those would be difficult to achieve.
I'm not complaining though, and if IF came out with more repaints I'd be very tempted to pick them up.

I'm thinking of buying a well-articulated Thundercracker. I'm considering the masterpiece mold(s) at the moment, but do you guys have a better recommendation? Preferably either G1 or IDW-inspired. I once considered getting the WFC PlanetX one, but It's a bit too skinny for me.
>>
>>10429551
I think the Deformation Space seekers are the best looking ones you'll find, however the transformation process is highly annoying for some people
>>
>>10429551
I like the V3 MP, it's really well articulated if you can get past the lack of a waist swivel. It's for sure the most expensive option though (and it doesn't come with the stupid stand, takara is too stingy with their proprietary stands)

Hello Carbot doesn't follow that trend for its female characters. Laranja, Greenfarm and Nighthopper are just a few examples. If they weren't voiced by female VAs you would never know their gender.

The cartoon version lacks the painted face that a lot of people wanted. MS's solution was to make you buy "Toy" Swindle for that face.
Neither of them still have the smiling faces.

So that pink KO slash arrived today, it's ostensibly pretty crappy even at its AUD $36 price point.
It's missing a bunch of paint apps present in the promo images, and the paint it does have has worn off in places.
The plastic is also in pretty bad shape; mould lines, uncleaned flash and sprue nubs in various places. It desperately needs going-over with a hobby knife and some sanding pads.
So the question from here, any advice or guides on how to fully disassemble/reassemble or to paint transformers figures? Because outside of those issues it's actually kinda fun having a pink dinobot in my collection I just wish it was a little nicer.

Just got a shipping notification for this bad boy, not normally a fan of the g1 toon mps but soundwave is my favourite character, the toy parts look great and it was only $170 on showz

Once i took the chance and ordered my first product from showz i dont know how i ever put up with the insane upcharges on domestic stores, i still check for sales but the price gouging is insane, $250 on tfsource for this dude

Anyway, any one here have this guy? What should i expect, what should i be careful of? My first fanstoys purchase

Some things aren’t tabbed in correctly out of the box. Any reviewer should tell you how to tab it in properly or your toy is gonna be loose.
The tapes turned out badly in the first run but maybe not this time.
