Tamagotchi Uni has appeared on Amazon UK. There were pictures and a larger description, but those were taken down. Looks like a western take on the Tamagotchi Smart's watch form factor, but with real buttonshttps://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BVT6TJ8YPrevious discovered documents suggest this device might have some form of Wifi capabilities
watch strap is detachable like the Smart, and you're left with a tama which looks to be basically the same size as a connection
Been messing around with the Entama alongside my V4 and Smart. I'm really enjoying the slow burn growth cycle it as, since it gives you more time to appreciate the slice of life elements. That said, I wish the minigame lineup was better. The Kindness minigame mogging the other two means I'll have a hard time in the future getting anything that isn't Kuchipatchi or Shimashimatchi.>>10372388>no DIM cards>but Mimitchi's thereHoping for a nice, varied roster here. The Pix having v3's Decotchi of all things as an NPC and raisable Ginjirotchi gives me hope for some oddball picks.Bringing back buttons is a good choice too, felt like both the Pix and Smart messed up there.
>>10372467The pix was almost exclusively characters that appeared on the mix and/or meets. Only exceptions were some raisable characters (murachakitchi, neliatchi, ginjirotchi).Bandai US doesn’t really do much original art on their own. They seem to do some, but it’s derivative of what Bandai JP provides. So I expect the Uni to mostly be characters which appeared on the Pix or SmaCards. There will be the usual cast, and the SmaCards introduced some new unique characters. The original Pix had a couple of Mary characters, before the Smart was announced. Maybe there could be a couple characters like that, from whatever Bandi JP is working on?
>>10372506>MarySmart, excuse the autocorrect
>>10372506>So I expect the Uni to mostly be characters which appeared on the Pix or SmaCards.Wouldn't mind that either, the new characters from the cards look neat, and it was neat seeing former staple teens like Ringotchi finally get some love. It'd be a lot cheaper and more convenient having them built-in.My main hope roster-wise is for better female character variety, felt like pretty much everyone but Sebiretchi and Mimitchi operated on samey humanoid designs on the Pix.Content-wise I'm not as picky, though it'd be nice to get the best of both worlds with Pix's meaty content and the Smart's form factor. The Smart itself feels pretty much like a supplementary Tama than a "main" one you run since there's less going on with it overall compared to the Pix.Not related to the topic of the Uni, but what you said about the US releases being derivative sticks true, especially when having Connection and Plus entries side by side. There's more things on the V4 that you can readily access, but the sprites and animations lack consistency quality-wise compared to how clean and polished the Entama is, and the lack of family groupings until teen stage makes raising a character feel more like a gamble.Universal family was a nice replacement for the Hatena group though, much prefer having Pyonkotchi (my personal favorite) and former Connection/Plus staple characters as skill fail/neglect options than code-locked linear growths.
Are we sure that the Tamagotchi Uni is a western release only? Because we still don't have an announcement for the next SmaCards, for all we know it could be a global release. Also, is it just me or the screen is really big? Part of me hopes it has a touch screen to interact with you Tama. The petting system is one of my favorite things about the Pix.
>>10373537I've seen speculation it might be an international release, but I'm personally not so confident. Aesthetically it doesn't match Bandai JP's tamagotchi aesthetic at all (besides the logo which has become universal). There was an interview with some Bandai exec a year or two ago who said that the West and JP regions have different demographics who want different things, which is why they've been doing separate tamagotchis for each. He was receptive to the idea of a global release in the future, but not committing to anythingScreen looks like the usual 128x128px color display to me
>>10373537>>10373554Weren't the only global Tamagotchi releases past the vintage era the Famitama, IDL and Meets/On? We got localized versions of other ones but content-wise they're pretty different. The Uni design-wise so far reminds me of the Connection era making global counterparts to the Japanese Plus series, which is why I'd assume it doesn't have card compatibility either.
>>10373537No, it's coming to Japan too. A listing appeared on Amazon Japan with the exact same images before people caught wind of it and it was taken down.
>>10373784Tamagotchi Pix appears in Amazon Japan too, but it's not actually sold there locally
>>10372396>>10372388It's really cute except for this ugly slime faceplate. WHY
>>10374335the colors and shaping remind me of space, like a galaxy or nebula or something
>>10374335I like the faceplate, but I don't like it combined with that color scheme. One or the other would be fine but combined it looks like something from Girl Tech (which might be what they're going for, but still). Hope the other colors are better.
Say something nice about my friend.
>>10374727I keep one of these at my desk and bought a second one to put on my desk at work, but I've never gotten around to bringing it in
>>10374727cute green duck thing
>>10374965picrel
The Uni is so ugly... but it's got Mimitchi and it's a new release.... Gonna get it. And I thought the regular Pix was kinda ugly. I hope it is a little bit larger on the arm band versus the Smart. Then again the demographic for the Smart explains the size.
>>10374727DSL
Why are Music Stars more expensive than V2/V3s, I thought people hated it
>>10376004Rarity, unfortunately.Music Star and Tama-Go were both very unpopular at the time of their release, but time passed and they gradually became harder to find. Music Star got new appreciation for its designs, and Tama-Go got appreciation for its novelty. Scalpers took note.
>>10376004People hated the Music Star because it came out around the same time the Plus Color got released in Japan, and because of how much it departed from the usual Tamagotchi formula. It was like if you took the V4's job system and turned it into the main focal point. Skill points matter more to how well you perform in adulthood, managing the stress stat and having to go through hoops to get your Tama to swap favorite music genres and instruments gave it more mechanical depth, but was frustrating to people who just wanted a simple slice of life digital pet. It's a lot more beloved in retrospect because of its mechanics and the noveltu factor of color Tamagotchis being long gone by now, arguably even having more content than most of the color models (besides the IDL and Ps).V2's a bit more overlooked nowadays despite its big character roster due to it still having the "growing pains" of an early Connection (oddities like the treats tab, poor game lineup and lack of features that are more standard nowadays like a family history tab). The V3's still very well-liked, sometims even a favorite, but they're common enough to be cheaper than the Music Star.
Still waiting for someone to dump the Keitama and Entama smacards
She is finally at age 100. It was a fun challenge and I plan to send her to her planet next Thursday.I hope my next Tama is another female because I still want to raise a bunch of them, if I get a male I will take a short break from the pix and run my Digimon X1.
>>10377743Nice, congrats! I always liked how most modern entries let you keep your favorites as long as you raised them right. Who do you plan on raising next?I'm also currently trying to do the same on the V4 while trying to pick up items along the way. Honestly surprised my first two gens were Mame family characters considering how skewed the family system is. Also>DMX1Based
>>10377852On my Pix I mainly want to raise Lovelitchi and on my X I want Crusadermon. Other characters I want on the Pix are Momotchi, Awamokotchi and Coffretchi
>>10374727cuuuuuute
>>10372388The more I look at it, the more I like it.
>Digimon 20th merges everything from v1-v5 and adds more>Tamagotchi 25th still selling P1-P2s instead of combining them with other vintages like Angel/Garden or merging the v1-v4.5 ConnectionsIt hurts.
>>10380124If it makes you feel better Digimon 25th is selling V1 and V2 separately like Tamagotchi... But in color, with tons of QoL and more Digimon.
>>10377743Update: got a pink egg with a female Tama. Time to get Lovelitchi and get a new battery for my X1, because I'm going to run both.
>got a M!X for Shimashimatchi>Meets fan app has him anywayWell now I feel stupid. Was always more a fan of the goofier designs of the Connection and P1/P2 crew over the dolled up girls, so at least there's Ura Togetchi, Maskutchi and Oyajitchi to screw around with down the line.
>>10380658P1 and P2 are the only gens that the tamas have a continuity between their evolutions. The other tamagotchi versions the way they evolve is completely random.
>>10380752While I loved the P1/P2 design philosophy, I wouldn't go as far as to say they were the only ones with coherent growths.I liked how the Plus series (Japanese Connections) handled evos, even if there was less overall to choose from compared to the international release.Keitai Akai had a coherent fruit, and Japanese mythology theme to tie into Makkakka Town, with almost all the teens being fruit themed, and characters like Darumatchi and Tengutchi that were exclusive to it.Entama splitting the evo lines into families was a very clever way of keeping consistency with growth charts. Kuchi family especially has a coherent theme, with the duckbilled designs being prominent from the getgo and the characters generally feeling like a natural progression. I feel like it did the best job with character designs beyond just adults, but that might also be because they had to tie it to the slice of life/school and jobs mechanic that specific entry had with the slower growth speed. It's one of the few things I feel the English Connections changed to be more interesting gameplay-wise and meatier roster-wise at the cost of cohesion. The V2/V3 has about triple the amount of adults the Keitai/Akai has, but aesthetically feel somewhat random, and the V4 made the baby/child stage universal, but also made the growing up process more random seeming (along with having the shortest growths pre-modern era)
>>10380658The Mix anniv is still a really good tama because of the locations and the pre-adult characters all being nostalgic fanservice
Gen 1 completed, and it looks like it's Kuchipatchi's time to go home. Overall thoughts so far on the Entama is that it's a lot more polished and maintains the slice of life theming much better than the V4. The family grouping from the get-go makes growths feel a lot more natural, and the mail system actually having slice of life events that explain what's going on helps flesh out the world instead of getting literal shit mail that drains your happiness. Even minor things like the C-click animation or getting money from mail/minigames is presented with better, snappier sounds and animations. The slow growth rates also make the new features the Entama has shine more and allow you to grow attached to earlier stages, which is a stark contrast to how speedy the V4 is. That said, the "gamey" aspect is a bit lacking, in that I feel like raising Intelligence and Style points will get incredibly tedious compared to Kindness due to how luck-based/lengthy they are in comparison. I liked how the V4 had minigames like Jumping Rope to help raise random stats to better balance your total in case one didn't click with you. Jobs don't have minigames tied to them either, so it feels like a more cosmetic role. I still haven't been able to experience some of the mechanics like cooking or using any non-school/work item yet, so if I still have no luck with the daily shopkeeper I might buy those items with code generators.Overall, I'd say it's a better virtual pet than the V4 in terms of raising/slice of life presentation, but the V4's got better gameplay. I got another Kuchi boy, so this gen I'll be going for Nonbiritchi.>>10380955I do love that Banzo-hakase's lab, Uratama Town and Makkakka Town are all visitable locales. Makes me want to run an Akai again down the line. Red Debatchi and Memetchi are strangely nostalgic and I'm sad to see the former go.
>>10380790Nice, I didn't know about this difference in the Japanese and the international releases. Do you mean the picrel chart?
I need Uni news, stat
>>10381539Yep, that's the Akai's growth chart. It's worth noting that the international V2/V3 has a fifth adult growth tier which is obtained from poor physical care (ignoring hunger calls and timing out when making unneeded calls) and good emotional care (maintaining happiness and praising when crying), which gives them an adult roster of about 30 compared to the Akai's 8 (10 if you count secret and costume charas like Wooltchi and Paparatchi). Most of the V2/V3 added adults were either ones that originated from the P1/P2 like Ginjirotchi and Kusatchi, Osutchi/Mesutchi like Pyonkotchi and Pyonchitchi, or ones made up specifically for the Western releases (I think Decotchi from V3 was the only one who made another appearance instead of being scrapped entirely). This led to a bigger roster with a lot of replayability in terms of getting different characters, but the growths also felt thematically inconsistent and because evo pools were shared, getting the ones you wanted came down to luck.It wasn't until the V4 that Western releases tried to line up with the Japanesregrowths, although the themed baby/child stages would be replaced with Osumesu babies and children for more randomized growth patterns, and Pyonkotchi and Pyonchitchi would stay as exclusives you get from failing to meet required skill point totals but otherwise taking perfect care of your Tama (in the Japanese Entama, there were no "failed" evos).
>>10376786>>10380658Always found it funny how Shima and Toge keep returning as Entama fan favorites despite Bandai originally pushing Memetchi so hard.
>>10381865Nice, thanks for the info anon. I'll take a look at this Akai Tamagotchi.

>>10382946He's here too: >>10382481My favorite vpet is still RakuRaku DinoKun from Watercore, the company sadly went bankrupt but they had a lot of nice vpets.I really like the evolution chart of this pet.

I have my first Smart coming in. My friends love theirs more than their Pix, which has me excited. I loved the Pix, except the camera stuff.
>>10384025I feel like I missed some key feature with the pix. It felt like it didn't do much of anything. To those who love the pix, what did you love about it? When I run it again in the future, I want to enjoy it more.
>>10384025>>10384425Biggest flaw with the Pix I'd say is its massive size, which makes it a pain to take around and care for compared to the Connections or even other color Tamas (they're similar in size, but Pix has just a bit more bulk). Content-wise it's actually one of the meatier entries since it has multiple different games, job training, furniture decorating, and a glossary of Tamas/items/foods you got to complete. On a personal level I wasn't fond of most of the roster (too many cutesy humanoids, especially on the girl side) but because there's no longer gene mixing, classic characters that weren't able to translate well like Ginjirotchi and Sebiretchi finally got to return.I especially liked the partying and play date features the Pix had, felt like a clever way to modernize the connection mechanic. You don't have to be nearby anyone, since you can just scan a QR of a friend's Tama and invite them over to play or share gifts.Funnily enough I got tired of the Smart very quickly-- the UI, even after learning it felt way too slow and it didn't feel like there was enough to do. The SmaCard model is conceptually nice but in practice it ended up feeling very segmented since you had to give up everything on your older card, character included, whenever you wanted to scan something new.
>>10384425Pix has more things to do - there's albums of characters to meet, food to cook, items to obtain, which get filled out as you play and gives a sense of progression and completion to aim towards. There's no reward for filling the lists, but it still provides a metagame objective beyond raising each character. It's nice having the store rotate items based on time of day and a daily theme, reminds me of the earlier connection stores but with less RNG.I'm mixed on whether I like the rotating theme for the arcade - it does provide more variety, but inevitably there's one set of games I like the most and I just don't really play if it's one of the other days. The careers are okay, but I preferred the v4+v6's implementation of "go to school as a child/teen, then get a job as an adult to earn more money". It's disappointing that it doesn't support downloadable content (therefore no potential for custom content). The camera is a neat novelty to include some discovery-based play but I could do without it.The Smart on the other hand is just so barebones compared to earlier color versions. There's very few locations and very few things to do at those locations. The amount of dialog they added is nice - actual conversations with your tama, not just NPCs at locations, but that doesn't mean much if you don't speak japanese
Anyone else hate how the vpet aspect of Tamagotchi's being slowly moved away from? The teen->adult growths only last a day now, and on gene mix and Smart versions caretaking doesn't even matter because you're guaranteed a crossbreed/DLC character.
>>10382481Memetchi is a default character in most tamas
>>10382481>>10386160Yeah, she's not tied to the Entama at this point. She's more powerful than the ones who just barely made it onto a PBandai-limited SmaCard that only comes in a two-pack.
>>10386160>introduced as a female mascot character>anime comes out and gives her a bitchy personality>immediately mogged and outshilled by Lovelitchi the moment she's introducedKind of a sad fate, honestly. [spoiler]I miss Makiko being in the virtual pets
>>10386192Violetchi was the cucked one.
Violetchi and Memechi should be girlfriends.
>>10386192>I miss Makiko being in the virtual pets
>>10386264Why did she get purplewashed?
>>10385084Something I really like about Uni is that they are going in with the watchbands thing. I hope that they continue to do it and even release compatible watchband for gen 1, gen 2 and nano as an accessory.
>>10386288The international V2 had another flower-themed character in its roster. Rather than call the original Furawatchi from K-Tama Flowertchi and the new one Tuliptchi or whatever, they decided to call the new one Flowertchi and rename Furawatchi to many other names before eventually deciding on Violetchi. I'd assume the color change was to cement her being violet-themed.>>10386264I was always surprised at Violetchi being used as a "second girl" mascot pre-Lovelitchi, like being in the Corner Shop games and having her own Pure Family group in Famitama. Always felt to me like Mimitchi and other girl characters were more naturally popular despite the push.
>>10385120>DLC characterJust like the P's and 4U?
>>10388223Reminds me, I wonder if we'll get custom Smart (or Uni if the Wifi compatibility allows for it) DLC down the line.
I married on the fan app Mixing Meets but sadly I had to take the batteries out to take a break cause I got sick. But I'm glad that Mixing Meets is available. I think I'll probably start up my Tama On again soon. I'm curious to see how my baby tamas will turn out. I seriously can't wait till more Tama Uni news comes about. I'll definitely poke my head back in this thread from time to time.
>like Hinotamatchi>can never keep HinotamatchiIt hurts man. I love my little lad.>>10388914Cool thing about mixing Meets is that it brings a bunch of characters that weren't even in the Meets originally as marriage candidates. When you pick up your On again, it's worth checking out if any NPCs are around. As for the Uni, I'm glad they're going back to the classic 3 button system. I'd assume the Smart's touchscreen was a pretty unpopular feature.
>>10388925I feel you, Hinotamatchibro.

>>10389494Characters are more complicated because there's additional data - character sprites have multiple layers, there's a data table for how all of those layers are positioned relative to each other for each possible character pose, anchor points for accessories on each of those frames, a unique c-press animation, etc. It's possible but nobody's made a tool for it. To do it properly requires more than just sprite replacements

>>10392357They were released at a time where japanese tamas were full color, had 32 adults and supported downloadable content. The Friends has minimal content and a lot of it can only be unlocked by connecting with another Friends device
>>10392841Yup.
Kinda wish they'd bring back the potty training mechanic from the 4U. I know cleaning poo is a thing since the first gotchis and an important game function, but the way it was done in the 4U didn't seem too bad.
>>10393917I'd also like the toilet training feature to come back, or for future tamas to give you a beep warning before they shit on the floor, and give you a couple moments to send them to the toilet. The On/Meets lets you send them to the toilet when they have to go, but the screen has to be on and you have to be looking at it to catch the very brief, visual-only notification before they go on the floor. If Tamas could manage their own toilet needs, some other care could replace it.

There's a whole lot of charm to messing around with the items there and having a goal to work toward beyond getting the Tama you want.

I've had the Smart for a few weeks and I know I'm not supposed to, but I kinda love it. I was playing my V3 for weeks before, and this feels like a color version of it. I actually like it more than my Pix. I'd like the On more I think if it wasn't so laggy, and was smaller.
>>10396251>I'm not supposed toWhy not? Just like what you like. Anything inparticular you like/dislike about it and the Pix? As for the On, I heard from people that the Mix is a much laggy version of it at the cost of no online, but that doesn't fix the size issue.>>10396236To be fair expressing any interest in the IP or the Tama gets people screeching about terfs and politics instead of the actual thing. At the end of the day who gives a shit, Bamco's a Japanese company anyway
>>10396353Size is a huge factor, and design- I think the Pix is just ugly. I think the plastic feels cheap at that size, and it's just jarring to look at. The Smart is easier for me to use without the dumb weird touch buttons and the camera was fun for five minutes with cooking but anything else, it just disappointed me. The four or five colors weren't accurate. I like the ending for each run- the whole going back to the home planet. That's cute.
>snagged another Digimon ver. 20th>have to raise a buncha Koromons and connect them before I get my Weregarurumon eggShit. Well, it's not like I'm gonna raise the thing immediately anyway since I've got the mandatory V1 and a V2 running to try and jogress em.On a similar note, any good sites to get Digimon vpets? I know ZeninTCG has the ones currently in production, but trying to snag a Pendelum or anything of the sort has been an absolute nightmare, albeit not Tamagotchi Connection levels of bad.>>10396251>>10396362The Smart's size is definitely one of its biggest pros, it's got the color and smooth animations of the Pix, but on the size of a Connection. Very glad the Uni's taking pages from that instead of the Pix, where I feel the form factor was at its weakest in spite of the content. Also>V3Based, I love how the V2-V4 rep the P1/P2 and Osutchi Mesutchi crew. 2 and 3 especially feel like they perfected the traditional vpet raising aspect.
>>10396390I want a V4 very badly but they're so expensive. And if I do see them show up somewhere, they're bought so quickly. But I love my V3 and tend to go back to it after doing a run on any other tama... except the Smart. On the Pix I hit adulthood twice and was ready to move on to the next one. Same with the ON. I've had my adult on the Smart for several days now and I still love her! I ordered more SmaCards. I hope the Uni will be the same, with just a bit more... although I'll be honest I think it looks ugly as sin. Specifically the colors and the weird blob-like window border.
>>10396394Yeah, the prices of the v4 are pretty absurd, it's hard to snag one that's priced fairly. V4.5's also a popular pick, especially since the game lineup's stronger than the base V4, but the character lineup doesn't appeal to me as much personally. If you can't find a regular V4, a 4.5 would also be a good alternative if you're fine with the different roster. The skill point and job system on v4 is a lot of fun, since it gives you more to work towards than the usual perfect caretaking/intentional neglect. The only gripe I personally have with the V4 is its bias towards Memetchi's family grouping (a double edged sword of repping Osumesu's cast, the Japanese counterpart Entama has a much more fairly distributed family system), although my own run ended up getting Mame characters back to back, surprisingly. In terms of cheap Connections, the Japanese counterparts like Entama and Keitai/Keitai Akai are much more fairly priced if you're interested in those, although they have their own sets of pros and cons along with Japanese UI.As for the V2 and V3, I liked how pick up and play it feels as an entry. Running a gen doesn't feel like a hassle, and the large roster always keeps things interesting. The V3 definitely feels more refined of the two, having better spritework for legacy and exclusive characters, although V2 keeping it faithful to the originals has its own charm tooz and the game lineup's much nicer, making it fun to earn points. I always liked how the V2/V3 felt like "siblings" to each other, since the two end up creating a complete looking roster, with each one's exclusives typically being counterparts to the other (either opposite sex Osumesu, or having the entire P1/P2 roster bar Maskutchi).
>>10396394>>10396679It annoys me so much that they don't do reruns of these Tamas. They probably still have the serverside/client side content, it's not hard to keep a simple site up. I'm pretty sure that a connection rerun would sell pretty well. They could even do a V7 thing with everything from the previously gen so they wouldn't have to rerelease every version. They have market for that, gen 1 and 2 are selling really well aren't they?Maybe it's still not nostalgic enough?
>>10396739Also, v6 use gen 1/gen 2 shell. They could rerelease everything using these shells, they wouldn't even need to retool everything, just make sure to brand everything right. The antenna is cute, but it's okay to not having it, as v6 is proof of that.
>>10396553>want them to rape you or you're a bigotthis is actual schizo levels of hyperbole, please reread your retarded posts before submitting them in the future so you look like less of a lunatic. I have your best interests at heart
>>10396739I'd assume the problem would be putting effort into releases that weren't international. Of the Plus/Connection era Tamagotchi, only 2 were international, the V1 (Kaettekita Plus) and V5 (Famitama), the rest, while being inspired by Japanese releases, tended to be very different in gameplay. If they were to do a rerelease, I'd hope for Bandai to go the Digimon route and add more to them. The Ver 20th Digimon vpets combined everything from V1-V5 and then some, so a Connection with the roster of the V1-V4.5 + JP counterparts would be neat, although I'm not sure how 5/6/Tama-go would work since they're pretty different gameplay-wise.They could also just go the single version but colored route like they did with the 25th anniversary Digimon. In any case, just rereleasing them without any upgrades wouldn't hurt either even if it's not too exciting, considering how overpriced the Connections are now.
>>10396897Creating rereleases of each version would probably be non profitable. Ideally they should do as you said and include everything from every release in single special edition. They would just need one codebase and the memory nowadays are more than enough to handle all the data. They'd also need to remake the website to support HTML5.Doing that would make gen 1 and gen 2 kinda obsolete, though. Still... they really did a gen 1 and gen 2 rerun though. If they used the same shell could it be possible to release multiple versions of it in a budget? In any case I don't see how that wouldn't be profitable.
>>10396911>In any case I don't see how that wouldn't be profitableI meant, if they released it as a V1-V4.5, like you said, because in this case it would just be a single, special release.
>>10396862I'm just talking out of experience, man.Whenever you show a neutral stance or just a slight disagreement they start crying BIGOOOOOT, BIGOOOOT.They've proven that they'll only accept you loving them and nothing else. It's ok to hate when they do it.You don't have a say or choice in the matter but they have aaaaaall the choices and rights in the world. You either love them or hate them and you don't love them (which isn't to hate them) they'll force you on the hate group. Also jannies apparently deleted my post, seems like not even 4chan is safe of them forcing themselves upon us. They say they want true equity but it seems to me more like a role reversal. Straight men are on our way of becoming a minority now, this is what they wanted. It's controversial to be straight now.

>P1/P2 rereleases still going strong>Ginjirotchi made it to the Pix>most of Smart's card roster is nostalgiabait, him includedBros... Does he have a chance?
>>10398260A chance of what?
>>10398306A chance.
>>10398260Yeah, a good chance.
>>10398260Pix was mostly recycled mix/meets assetsUni has a very good chance of recycling SmaCard characters so he could very possibly be in
>>10398428If they're recycling Smart content, I honestly hope they bring back the interior designs from it.The default lineup, like the Japanese-style, cool, monochrome, and plant interiors are some of the best ones. Nice and normal, but pleasantly designed and not too basic.
>>10398647One thing I disliked about the Smart living rooms (which is more a side effect of the design of the Smart in general) is that they put all the emphasis on the bottom right corner. They did this because your tama sits in that corner at all times rather than running around the room, and they did that because of the rigid touch regions
>>10398700Compared to a similar mix wallpaper - the Smart has the ground take up a larger percentage of the screen, and the perspective is a bit different
Another comparison - picrel, living room on Mix 20th anniv
>>10398703The same living room on the 1996 Friends SmaCard
>>10398703>>10398704>the Babytchis are goneSOULLESS. Judging by the Uni screenshots, it seems like we'll get more Smart-styled rooms size and perspective-wise unfortunately. I just hope the idle animations aren't as bland as Smart's.
Do you know if there are a watchstrap for P1 and P2?
>>10399606There is not.
>>10400618Yeah, I've found some third parties for Nano and Smart but nothing official.
Preorders for the HP Nano are back up in Japan.Preorders for the blue shell are sold out on Amazon USA.
>>10402997>selling out despite the discord banning any acknowledgement that it existsTHIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING
>>10403607Most normies are unaware of Rowling's views and are shocked when they're told; usually all they hear is "Rowling said some controversial things and people on Twitter are mad at her" and so dismiss it as people overreacting. In Japan, one of the hardest places to live for trans people, Rowling's views are completely unknown and Harry Potter is still a huge brand. That's why Bandai Japan went ahead with the HP Nano collab and made Bandai America follow in step, despite some BA employees being upset with the choice to go through with it. As I recall, one BA employee has been gathering complaints from American fans to show to upper management.
Everything about the Tama-Go irritates me.The main body is ridiculously expensive now even though no one likes it and it's not that old.The character roster is stupidly small, yet there's data for a bunch of unobtainable characters on it. Half of the Gotchi figures are for characters you can't get on the device.Half of the Gotchi figures are dirt cheap and half are rare and overpriced as fuck, even opened and damaged. It's like Bandai itself knew this shit was a mistake.
>>10403867I think that, also, some people love HP to the point they kind of don't care about the controversies attached to Rowling. It might sound pretty dumb, but I remember that there was a meme at Hatsune Miku wrote HP, and it was probably just a silly way for them to try and distance the brand from it's author has much as possible. On a bit of an unrelated note, does anybody knows if they pay Rowling for merchandise? I know that some authors sell the merchandising rights to a third party (the publisher in the case of a book) but I'm not sure if she is one of them or she still have those rights.
>>10403867I don't understand why people who have a problem with Rowling bother complaining to merch manufacturers. Those people shouldn't support her products themselves, but how do they maintain the delusion that their disapproval will ever stop HP shit from being made? HP is too big to be killed, and companies don't care about people.
>>10403893Rowling does receive royalties/licencing fees/etc when her IP is used for anything. There are plenty of recent articles about how she got paid for Hogwarts Legacy and shit. It's not like the HP Nano doing well or not is going to make any difference in her already-mega-rich life though.
>>10403902Thanks for clarifying, I just hope that the people boycotting HP learned from the Hogwarts Legacy mistake and don't harass people interested in the nano. I don't want people on Twitter and YouTube saying that they bought 20 Harry Potter nanos just to "own the libtards" or whatever.
I just got my Friends in the mail. I didn't realize this thing was so fat. I got the shell I like best of all the Wave 1 and 2 options, but goddamn of the shells for this model are so fucking ugly. West-only tamas were a mistake.
>>10403882Tama-Go feels like their first attempt at doing what Digimon VB and Smart do with physical chip DLC. A pretty annoying move on their part, I prefer having a meatier Tama from the get-go.>>10404051>West-only tamas were a mistake. For what it's worth, V2-V3 take the Keitai and add a lot more content like universal items, easier access shop, and a much bigger roster, while V4 gamifies a lot of Entama's content, has more to do, and makes caretaking matter more, though at the cost of some slice of life elements.I'd say they're typically seen as the better versions than their Japanese counterpart, though that's not to say the JP ones are bad, and I do love Keitai Akai's thematic consistency. If you're talking about ones that have no Japanese base, Music Star seems to get a lot more love nowadays compared to the Plus Color (which released around the same time). I have no clue what the Friends is like though, since I never owned one, but I think the reception was overall pretty negative.
>>10404664People only like the Music Star now because it's expensive and has some attractive shells, so they feel special for owning it.
>>10404723I liked the v6 when it came out because of the rhythm games and music city website integrationIt took the V4 school/job concept and created a metagame where you are aiming to unlock all the trophies over multiple generations, which gives you a greater goal to work towards (like a precursor to tamatomo)
When the Smart showed off Milktchi for the first time, were there a lot of comparisons to Cinnamoroll? She's like a straight up fusion of Cinna and Kitty.
>>10404782There's a Sanrio SmaCard which has a Milktchi-Cinna fusion
>>10403867Most normies either don't care or agree with her. Mentally unstable men don't belong in womens spaces. Kindergarten level biology knowledge shouldn't be controversial.Rowlings opinion is actually the mainstream but we're not allowed to say, which makes the trannies seem more common than they are.Why not buy a toy just because the creator of the franchise passed grade school biology?
anyone has kei-tama and en-tama smacard dumps?
>>10405557Nope, you have to pay the P-Bandai tax just like I did.
>>10405609How are we supposed to do that when they're not sold anymore?
>>10405653You pay the secondhand market price, which is ridiculously high because it was a P-Bandai exclusive. That's the tax.
>>10405661Just upload it dude. You're not going to gain anything by keeping it to yourself
>>10402997Preorders for blue are back up. Red is sold out now.
>>10396390Best place to grab older stuff tends to be mandarake, price wise at least. It's all preowned but typically in very good condition and they make a note of if it isn't. You just have to be patient and wait for things to come into stock. You can also try places like JapanYouWant but they tend to be way more expensive not to mention the owner has pulled a lot of pretty scummy shit
>>10406448JYW's gotten pretty exploitative in the last year or two. If something's in active production the prices are reasonable, but as soon as something's discontinued and desirable they raise the prices significantly. FWIW they followed the market which went full clown world on facebook during covid, but they used to be better than that. They also pick out specific models to artificially inflate, usually the ones which are more desirable for normies/tamamoms (eg sanrio), even if they're still in productionAlthough, the black-and-white japanese models tend to be reasonable two-digit prices, even when unopened. There's low demand because western normies don't care about them, so the prices reflect that. Somehow JYW manage to still find new supplies of those; they're possibly one of the best places to get them now, you just have to keep an eye out for when new stock gets listed
Is JYW those guys who were literally the only online store ever to put a minimum £200 order limit on the UK after Brexit for some reasonFuck those guys
When did the character design philosophy for Tamagotchi shift? I have a hard time finding any adult I like in modern releases that isn't just Kuchipatchi or some other legacy character brought back.
>>10407360>When did the character design philosophy for Tamagotchi shift?Probably when the anime began with Loveli and then added Melodytchi, Kiraritchi, Yumemitchi, etc. Nips have boring taste, so the majority of fans probably like the conventionally cute Tamas the best. It's not a perfect metric because not every Tama was part of it, but the year old SmaCard poll has 7 out of the 11 top spots taken by relatively-humanoid animu mascot types.
>>10407468>Ginjirotchi and Oyajitchi beat samefaced anime whoresBASED
>>10407468>Kusatchi more popular than the Miracle trio>the only anime girl in the top three is Pianitchi, objectively the best one out of all of them (and whose mom is hot)Neat.
>>10407468I'd have to wonder what a Western poll of this would be like, I'd assume a lot of Connection staple characters like Masktchi (the Kamen Rider girl one) and Tarakotchi would rank in instead, since the V1 crew never cycled out over here.
>>10405146Kys
>>10407360When they made an anime targeted at little girls in the late 2000s
>>10408491Girls fucking love Kuchipatchi though
>>10404723>V4 on steroids>only liked "to feel special"Nah fuck that, Music Star was way better than the shitty ass Familitchi
>>10408622Sure, but during that era they kept churning KAWAII UGU samey looking girly tama designs with sparkly eyes, fancy hair-dos, clothes and accessories specifically to appeal to little girls
>>10410511I liked how oddball the Connection cast was, characters like Ponytchi and Maidtchi give off a feminine/human aesthetic without being bland samefaced bobbleheads. The latter would definitely be as samey as the rest had she been made nowadays. On a related note, gene mixing fucked up character variety too, a good chunk of the cast are all those cookie cutter copy paste trash just for compatibility purposes when part mixing. It's a popular mechanic, but I'm glad they gutted it instead of making it a staple.
>>10410729Mimitchi and Sebiretchi are the most beautiful Connection girls.
>>10410787Mimitchi originated in the P2 though
>>10411386That's okay, she's still on the Connection, and no other girl is more powerful than her. YoungMimitchi debuted on the Connection, drastically increasing her charm factor.

>>10411627>>10411628>Sebiretchi's in the Uni>not in that roster imageI wonder who else made the cut. Also looking at the second image reminds md of how clean most of the Smart's base roster looked, very unique compared to all the Lovelitchi clones.
Is the Tamagotchi Collectors BST group on F*cebook active? Is it worth making a FB account for if I'm hunting for US and EU Connections?
>mechanic on the v2/v3 where you have to mate with a second device or get worse adults each generationAll my pain. I so wish I hadn’t lost my childhood collection.
>>10412321It's pretty easy to ignore that mechanic, as long as you get a Naughty adult or better, your next gen has the potential to become a perfect care adult. It only becomes impossible if you get a Frail or Stubborn adult, which means you can't get a perfect care the next gen but can have the opportunity if you can avoid getting a bad care again. You can also reverse care mistakes with perfect games (a pain on V2 because the game lineup's not that good but pretty manageable on V3) if you messed up during growth.
>>10411692That's not a roster image, it's a promotional image from a few years ago that was made for the 25th anniversary.
>>10412088It's active but the prices have been awful for years - tamamoms trying to maximise their profitunfortunately it's still the best place to find most connection era models
What's the password for the Moon Terrace RAR?
Kind of sad how the V2 feels more like a celebration of Tamagotchi's roots than the 15th anniversary IDL. They really dropped the ball there
>>10411627So, if I'm understanding correctly, the Uni WiFi will be used only for decorations and accessories? That's kind of underwhelming, maybe some people will find the way to load custom characters.
>>10413036Any custom content on an english tama is a huge win, tbqhSmaCards have been annoying to customise because all the content is bundled together, you can't just download and keep individual items. Uni feels more like the iD or iDL in terms of downloadable content (going by the description)
As long as one of these fellers makes it in and can be kept, I don't need custom characters. Still, getting custom content like that would be the cherry on top.
>>10413072I think Pochitchi and Shimashimatchi are possible since they appeared on SmaCards, so Bandai US would have less sprites to draw in order to implement them
I hope we get Pianitch on the Uni, it's been way to long since she was part of a roster and she is really popular, not sure why they are not releasing her, I was waiting for her to be on a SmaCard but at this point it feels like they abandoned the Tama Smart.
>>10413509>was only in a Ps deco piece>and the fucking FriendsI feel for you, mate, that's gotta sting
>>10413516I think she was also on the 4u with one of the cards/downloads.
>One Piece tama is finally here>it's got a tiny screw instead of the push buttonI knew this would happen but I'm still kinda peeved. Still, loving this thing. Just got Jump Point Chopper.
>>10414018Do all of the Nanos now use a screw, or just the ones that get sold overseas? I noticed that my Mikutchi bought in the US has a screw, but all of my older, Japan-bought Nanos have buttons.
>>10414122I think it's some sort of U.S. law where these sorts of toys containing batteries need a screw to prevent idiot kids from eating them. I have Nezuko and amber JP tama and both have the push buttons.
>>10411627Place your bets: are those the only two shell designs we're going to get, while the rest of the SKUs are changeable watch-bands, or are we going to get more shells? As a side note, I was disappointed by how little variety the Pix got in shell colors. I miss bright yellow, red, and lime green standard releases.
>>10414331I'm a fan of those tacky 90s/2000s designs the Connections had. Wish the modern releases weren't so stereotypically feminine. The Smart's neutral, clean design worked wonders, shame the Smart itself is a boring card cashgrab.
>>10414331Wouldn't surprise me if those are the only colors we get. Smart only had 2 colors outside of the special editions, and Pix Party only had 2 colors total (purple and pink, like the uni). Pix had 4 so it's possible, but I don't think we'll ever go back to the era of countless printed shell designs that are impossible to keep track of
>>10414348>Wish the modern releases weren't so stereotypically feminine. This, I know it's a franchise for little girl and all, but more neutral design and color could the nice. Hopefully we get more Uni shells soon.
>>10414495Tamagotchi used to be a lot more neutral, it was a combination of pushing Digimon as the boy counterpart (with Connection 2004 shifting the tone slightly towards cute, slice of life elements) and especially the 2009 anime that turned it into a pink glittery moeblob fest. You can see the shift in philosophy in both shell designs and character designs after the anime, the Plus Color and Music Star retain pretty neutral shells and character choices, while the Tamago and iDL onwards are much more girly.
>>10414678The TamaGo isn't girly, it's gender-neutral amd kiddy. The Friends is 100% girly though.
The tipping point was the iD - introduction of Lovelitchi + Meloditchi and a jewelry-inspired shell design.I agree the Tamago was also more of a general kids toy rather than targeted towards girls.Tamas went off the deep end after that and stayed that way until the anime finished. Japan seem to be doing their own thing and toying with an older market now (Smart's marketing material used older kids and young adults instead of little girls). US seem to still be locked into more of a traditional "pink aisle" little girl-centric mentalityMeanwhile Bandai still has other product lines like picrel (precure heart watch) which are very reminiscent of the stereotypical girly aesthetic of tamas during the 10's
>>10414810The Smart's focus on an older audience really shows with its entire thematic, with the entry taking place in a big city, reframing the arcade games as part-time jobs, ordering online through Amazon and Uber Eats parallels, and a more unconventionally designed cast (although you can argue this was done to sell the popular legacy characters via cards). It was something I appreciated a lot about the system, the willingness to go all-in on a sort of college-age feel.
>>10403867>That's why Bandai Japan went ahead with the HP Nano collab and made Bandai America follow in step, despite some BA employees being upset with the choice to go through with it. As I recall, one BA employee has been gathering complaints from American fans to show to upper management.I heard about this. But all those supposed Bandai America employees don't exist. There is literally no one at the new Bandai Toys & Collectibles company that isn't a Japanese plant or or being baybsat by someone from Japan. Japan took over pretty quickly after they merged Bluefin and Bandai America together. Most of the "American" Bandai America and Bluefin employees were let go or voluntarily left when they merged last year.

Surely if she read over the script or saw a draft of the video she could have pointed out all kinds of inaccuracies spread throughoutA few things which are more subjective but annoy me>he's dismissive of the connections overall and the changes between major versions (at least he won't contribute to their prices getting any worse)>doesn't emphasise the parallel product lines of JP/West, just lists them all chronologically as if there's an inconsistent back and forth between color and b/w>thinks the Mix's concept is flawed but calls the Meets the peak tama, when it's just a reskinned Mix with bluetooth dlc support>doesn't even mention that SmaCards exist when it's a major feature of the Smart (I agree with his complaints about the Smart's UX though)

>>10421543Downside(?) of connections is they have the oldie stage, so if you keep your adult for too long you're punished with a wrinkly old tama who is harder to marry offWhen I was a kid I had a year or two of mostly raising oyajitchi + ojitchi, and trying to find someone at school who had an otokitchi

Are the Gen 2 Tamas worth getting, do they hold up? I never had a Tama and heard the older ones haven't aged as gracefully gameplay-wise, but, d-dammit I really like the new shell designs they have...If not, should I get a Go or try my hand at getting a Connection? Is it possible to hack the Connections to upgrade/downgrade them into different versions? I'd assume not otherwise they wouldn't be as expensive, but, might as well ask..
>>10421895The first two gen Tamagotchis are pretty fairly priced, but there's not a lot to do with them beyond caretaking. They're a pretty decent entrypoint into the series since they're not too overwhelming, but don't expect to do much with it beyond feeding, playing a numbers game and discipline.Connections can be debugged to speed up time at your whim, but you can't change their version. The V2 and V3 are popular for their content (more games to play, a shop system) and roster, being some of the best ones with classic vpet gameplay. The V4 and V4.5 have a skill point system that determines growth and jobs.

>>10425430With the turquoise buttons, it's clearly paying homage to one of the most popular V3s too. Some of the new shells give me a hard-to-describe "too modern" feel, but this new space themed one is very charming.
Something that always bugged me about the V4 was that they got rid of the slice of life idle animations the V1-V3 had. Children would roll, children and teenagers used to practice the jumping minigame, teens and good care adults sung songs and danced, and worse care adults would skip out on either bathing or brushing their teeth, with the worst ones watching TV. Close-ups also happened naturally at times, as nice as C-Click animations are.It all added a bit of flair and changed up the pace instead of just having the tamas bounce around.

I'm sick of all these P1s and P2s.
>all these P1s and P2s>when Connection V1-V3 is pretty much the original but better
It's nice that Keitai and all the international Connections can connect together, but the friend list looks pretty strange. Thinking about it too, I do wish hiragana was available in the English tamas since it effectively bypasses the rigit 5-character limit for names.
>>10426851What is the best version of the Connection? I want to check one out but all these versions make choosing one overwhelming
Happy Birthday, Kuchipatchi!>>10427054Personally, I'd say either the V2 or V3 for classic caretaking, or the V4.5 for content. The V1 has been completely obsoleted by the V2 and V3, which has the entire V1 cast with more content attached.Without Tamatown, the V2 and V3 are pretty interchangeable, having a roster of 30 adults and items you can buy at the store that any adult can use. The V2 has a cast consisting mostly of the original P1/P2 Tamas alongside a few newcomers and Osumesu characters, while the V3 has more obscure Osumesus and oddball characters exclusive to the version. The V3's games are usually seen as much better than V2's, but the V2 also has a slot machine game adults can play to easily rack up money. The V4.5 uses a skill point system to primarily determine growth into adults, and has more features like your Tama being able to go to school, get a job (which adds another game) and get mail. People tend to prefer the V4.5 to the V4 for its many bugfixes and balancing out the family groupings-- in the V4, you'll almost always end up in Memetchi's family grouping, but it's more evenly split in the V4.5.I'd say if you want the usual caretaking stuff, to check out the V2 and V3's character lineup and get the one you prefer, while if you want something more involved, to check out the V4.5.

Real tamas were much too expensive for most kids so 99% of them bought these Dinosaur tamas, except they were knockoffs with the dinosaur and the 5 buttons (including the temperature controls) and that's all referenced in the comic since it's most likely the one the writer bought for his kids.
>>10428387>so 99% of them bought these Dinosaur tamas, except they were knockoffs with the dinosaurTurma da Mônica? (Monica and Friends in America). These Tamas you are talking about weren't knock offs at all. They were manufactured by Watercore, IIRC they were a South Korean toy company. They produced some of the best vpets of its time. The one you are talking about is called RakuRaku DinoKun and it's still my favorite to this day. Hana Hana Mi is also very cute, it was produced by the same company. Sadly, they went bankrupt. They were popular in US too, they were called Dinkie Dino.I threw mine away in my teens because I thought it was broken, lately I've learnt that the problem was the polarizing screen, it was only a matter of buying a new polarizing screen by cutting and swapping them. I still regret it, I should've kept it, even if I thought it was broken, along with my LEGO.These pets, RakuRaku Dino Kun, Hana Hana Mi, Yuki Penguin, the one about that boy and Tako Seijin (the street sellers used to market it as the "Varginha UFO Incident vpet" (lol) were all produced by the same company, and they are all great. There is a great blog about them, It's called Dinkie Pets - RakuRaku DinoKun & Friends (https://dinkiepets.tumblr.com/).I'm planning in collecting all of them, but they are extremely high priced. There's a knock off of them, it's engine/IC board/branding is called Hitorikko.

>>10430158Looked more into it.Her first chart was a V2 growth chart back in 2005, so that's 18 years ago.And according to her, she's been collecting since 1997.No wonder she's everywhere, she's been here from the start.
>>10382946>>10383002das racis
Probably a retarded question but I figured this would be the place to ask, what are the "best" tamas? I've started getting back into tamagotchi and just have a basic Gen 2 one, but I'm looking into some of the other models with more features but have no idea which one to go for
>>10434279P's is (was?) a common answer because of the amount of custom content it supportsMeets/On has its fans now (though anecdotally it's the more recent fans who have that opinion)At this point there have been so many tamas with so many different core mechanics that there's no single answer, because different demographics resonate with different tamas
>>10421605I miss her, bros
>>10434339>appeared on the smart>as a keitama/entama friends exclusive npc
>>10434279I think most of the tamas considered best are old and cost 200 bucks second hand. I'd say to check out the tamagotchi pix. It's pretty good and you can get it on Amazon for like 40.
>>10434508Pix is pretty good, which makes me think the Uni will be better (and you won't have to deal with inconsistent touch buttons)
>>10434356>your favorite Tama appeared on a new tama>as a npcI have a feeling most anons can relate to that.>>10434573I will miss the interactions that touch buttons allow you to do, like petting you Tama.
>>10435524I miss the Osumesu characters, there were lots of charming ones but outside of a few adults appearing in V2-V4, they're pretty much nonexistent.Same goes for the P2 cast, but they at least get NPC appearances.
Will the FB BST group ban me if I make a fresh account just to use that group? I have no desire to use FB otherwise.
>>10436242They'll treat you with some scrutiny, but if you make your account look legit - get some friends, fill in details, use a real photo of yourself - they should be cool, or at the very least ask you some stuff before letting you in.
Still waiting for someone to post the bins for the Entama/Keitama and Pixar smacards, which are the only ones I'm missing
>>10436702Can you post a link to what you have? I was looking around for bin files the other day and couldn't find it.
>just snagged my all time favorite V1 (JP) shell in bnip condition for 40usd>and a bnip Haneruchi 1 for 30usd, for completionist sakeJYW can still be surprisingly reasonable when it's for the less in-demand versions. This feels like a complete steal compared to how much facebook tamamoms are charging for scuffed used connections

Are there any European online marketplaces for secondhand tamas that allow non-Euro customers to shop?
>>10372388There was a Tamagotchi Uni teaser trailer posted on the UK Tama Instagram. Shortly after it was deleted. I was trying to post the video from the Tamagotchi Discord and it didn't go through several times, though I did take a couple screenshots from it.
Mimitchi is the best
>>10437670Awesome anon, thanks. >>10437848I really hope that's a release date. It'd be fucked up to tease a pre-order date but I wouldn't put it past bandai.
>>10438278Seems a bit quick to go from teaser to launch in 1.5 weeks? I think they're just teasing the announcement (which will also be when preorders start)
>>10437848The JP Instagram account just posted it too.
>>10438285oh shit, it's on jp twitter tooare we finally getting a global tama release again? or could this be fans filling in the gaps and it's actually just merch or something
>>10438289wait nvm I'm an idiot it's definitely the uni
>>10438292There's a flyby of the uni in a black and white designif this is a global release, I hope there's more colors beyond the US "pink aisle"-targeted garish purple and pink
that chant in the video is weirdly catchy
>>10437848I've missed out on a few new releases but I think this time if it has a nice colour I'll snag it soon as it drops. I think there was a black?
Hoping the character lineup's more varied than what they showed so far.Sick of humanoid whores
>>10438335All the trailer shows is evergreen characters, smart characters and neliatchiI'd like to believe there's new characters and they're just not showing them yet
Which one of you buried your tamagotchis in the 90s?
>>10438334The only color ways confirmed for sale so far are Pink/Lime-green/Blue and Purple/Pink/Blue-Green.
>Keitai>shopkeeper comes twice a day selling only one item>sometimes items are dupes, wasting your time>can't even use the items you do get because it's all tied to characters>barely any character variety, about on par with a V1>barely any idle animations throughout the dayThis thing sucks, I feel robbed.
Strange how they keep bringing back Sebiretchi. Was she even that popular originally?I don't mind at all because she's actually one of my favorites, but it's a bit of a surprise to me.
>>10438459She's the fan-preferred female equivalent to Kuchipatchi. She's relatively popular.
Is the Tama Uni the first time Japan will get Neliatchi?
>>10438571Excluding the japanese version of My Tamagotchi Forever, yeah
>>10438369>Lime-green/ Blue-Green.those colors are chartreuse and teal
>>10438284Yeah you're probably right. I forgot it hadn't actually been announced yet.
tamagotamagotamagotchi~
>>10425326no joke this might actually be one of my favourite shells already, blue & gold/bronze is my favourite colour scheme, i love the translucent plastic, the buttons being a light blue are really good, and it feels very 90s/2000s but still modern
I hate the box design of the tamagotchi pix
ta ta mama go go tchi tchi
>>10425279non non nonnon non
>>10421793>What's the appeal of tamagotchis? taking care of them>What are you supposed to do with em?taking care of them
>>10423532The characters look cute, they really should've invested in a new shell design instead of copying.>>10421856Thegen 1 or gen 2, cheap, easy to find, can find new, you'll have the original experience
>>10421856Unironically Digimon X. Good amount of content roster and gameplay-wise without being too bloated with gimmicks like the Pix's camera. Good carrying size. The P1/P2 remakes keep the fundamental mechanics, but the happiness raising minigame is a pain and they die if you overfeed them snacks.
>>10439294I wonder how different the packaging will be for the Uni in Japan vs the USJapan has done very modest and small cardboard boxes for a decade now, and the US has been the complete opposite
>>10440069I really hope they they just put some of the characters on the box or something and not a bunch of little girls.
>>10440146>sorry, best I can do is one little boy alongside the little girls
>>10440069>>10440146>>10440184God, the packaging situation sucks.I get it. Tamagotchi is evergreen in Japan, and the $60 price range for them has been the standard for almost 15 years. Every press cycle I'm reminded there are still millions of Americans that have no idea Tamagotchi has been producing new models since 2004, they just think it was a fad that died in the 90s. And we need a stupid large box so parents buying these things for their kids see the price value, because Americans are stupid like that. I get all that.Just make the packaging look nice. The On's packaging was stupid huge but it was tolerable. If I see pictures of kids on the Uni packaging like they did with the Pix, I'm going to vomit. I don't care what the marketing departments think, it looks tacky as fuck.
>>10440241If we're lucky, the pix only had little kids on the packaging because they needed subject matter to demonstrate the photo feature. Uni doesn't have a camera so we might be spared that indignity
>>10440241
The possibility that the Uni will have a small roster with others releasing later via Wi-Fi scares me a little. So far all the promotional material only shows the same Tamas.
>>10440432Downloadable characters via wifi would be a godsend for accessible custom charactersSmart has been bogged down by the complexities of SmaCards bundling content together, and requiring a ch314a programmer to rewrite a card. Downloadable content via wifi would be as good as the bluetooth on the meets, if not better
>>10440432>>10440470>can add in literal who never evers from the pastHoly based
Full sized teaser is up on their twitter nowhttps://twitter.com/TMGC_net/status/1662654935656198147
Tamagotchi invasion has begun.
I love the idea of tamagotchi's being bratty and bothering you when they don't need anything
Does anyone know how to run the DevilGotchi app? I have the .apk and J2ME but no idea how to run it through that
>>10440470>>10440483Honestly I didn't think about custom content at the time. However, the only information we have about the wifi capabilities is just accessories and decorations and we are not sure if you can download new characters yet.
What do you guys think the odds of the Uni having Hybrids again is?
>>10441290I think they are done with that gimmick
>>104412900
>>10441290Hopefully never.
Lately I'm addicted to these Famiclone toys, they're just so cute and cheap. My supervisor and my cowerker have Tamagotchi's, I thought about getting a fake one but still don't have one yet
Do the newer releases not have discipline anymore? That's a shame. I thought it was pretty funny that tamagotchi's could annoy you and you had to discipline them for it.
>>10442443Yeah, they ditched it once the color-screen Tamas started.
>>10442457That sucks I thought it added a lot of personality to them
>>10442443Not exactly a disciple mechanic, but my Pix always wants to go outside, go to the arcade or make the same fucking white sunglasses every time I check it.
happy gotchi
>>10442682Congrats on Tongaritchi! Take good care of it!
One week until official Uni reveal.
>>10443644hoping to god they show off more colours than the two that have been leaked so far, there's 10 variants so i'm hoping there will be at least a couple of shells that look nice
I remember when I was a kid I thought you wanted to maximize the tamagotchi's weight so I'd constantly feed it snacks
sleepy
>>10444350I know there's more content in later Tamagotchi releases, but there's something real charming about the P1/P2 cast.I also miss sideways Kuchipatchi, I know they changed him for gene mixing and accessories but it's such a downgrade
>>10444538Poor Nyorotchi
>>10443908>there's 10 variantswhere'd you see that?
>>10444816the leaked patent also had 10 variations filed, just the serial numbers though so no idea what any of the others are like yet
>>10444538I like the very simple visual cue of the beaks. All the healthy characters have mouths, all the unhealthy characters have beaks. Very simple way of distinguishing how well or how poorly you did.
Why the fuck won't Scamdai rerelease the Devilgotch? Reeeee
