>>10316860None. Cause it'd end up poorly painted and have a soft sculpt.

>>10316950I still have this guy on display, he is that good. The paint is amazing. One of the first McFarlane figures that really wowed with the paint.
>>10316957Yeap the whole bone details actually worked really well with the mold and plastic of the time
>>10316894Nu-Todd would never
>>10316957He's really not that good of a figure. You're overselling it.
>>10317099Post yours with a time
>>10316903Who did
>>10317522Nonsense, its an ebay listing, its public, anyone can find it
>>10316860picked up couple of the ultra figures from the movie toyline. I really liked what they did with the live action suit.
>>10316903How much is that stuff actually worth? Like a thousand bucks?
>>10317582needs a cape
>>10317014$65 batmobile
>>10317789I dunno but i would view it as more of a liability than worth something given the space it would take up. Its like buying a hoarders hoard
>>10316894Thats not Spawn related
>>10317998
>>10317789>>10317987>>10316903Some of the figures might be worth quite a bit, some can't sell for $10 at a comic shop, and regardless most of the cards and bubbles are going to start breaking down and looking rough unless they've been stored in nearly museum esque conditions. That price breaks it down to about $46 per figure, not including the $3000+ shipping. What kind of spawn fan is going to want to buy an entire collection that doesn't already have a significant portion of that collection? It's just insane and will never happen. He needs to break it up and sell it by wave, and even then getting even $20 per figure is unlikely, with the exception of some of the extremely rare/popular ones.
>>10316903>Putting eBay/PayPal fees in the shipping costI could ship that lot for $300 including materials. I get that fees suck but holy shit.
>>10317796Agreed if they ever did a modern version of the film suit a cape would be rad
>>10316903saw that listing recently, they need to sell off in pieces. like another anon pointed out, any old fans already will have most of the pieces, and me as newer fan am not going to pay that much for everything in that lot to get the shit I want. 90's collectors are fucking delusional.
>>10318016Yeah It can be seen in the images some of the clamshells are yellowing
>>10318630Smaller lots of like 4-8 figures are where it is at to get the best deals without getting many duplicates
>>10318743too lazy to look it up myself, plus I like learning stuff from ya'll. What causes the yellowing?
>>10316950A lot of the figures from that era had ridiculous paint and detail. On one had, I'd like to see some of these figures remade for the updated articulation, but at the same time, the sculpt, detail, and paint would probably all be of lesser quality.
>>10318756thanks for the tip, I'll have to look into it when me and the wife get moved into new place. promised her I wouldn't buy more collectibles or extra's until then. Wasn't spending outrageous money or anything but felt bit guilty having stuff come in when we need to save up for move.
>>10318758As newer fan of Spawn I honestly wish he would pump out a "throw back" line of some sort. With the limited articulation but fantastic sculpts and paint work. I got really lucky and nabbed couple of great pieces from a local shop, clam boxes were fucked but the figures them selves were in great condition.
>>10317798>based on a shitty shopped piclol
>>10316950>>10318758>>10318770i wish he remade the 12 inch figs with articulation
>>10318840I'm opposite haha, would rather get reissues of stuff like that, or new sculpts. Although a 12 inch figure in that style with articulation would be neat.
>>10318868yeah i'd love a reissue of that big guy
>>10318868i know everybody loves 6 inch but i really love 12 inch. i really love ithell......todd should re release this
>>10316860What the fuck happened?
>>10318935hell that would be fun, I'd happily take a "retro line" of spawn stuff.
>>10318770Honestly, you can buy many of the old vintage Spawn figures for cheap as fuck. I recently picked up a few (Future Spawn, Ninja Spawn, Manga Spawn, Spawn II, etc) and they were super cheap. I paid $3 for Ninja Spawn brand new still sealed, though it was another $6 or so for shipping. Still that was cheap as shit. I paid $20 total, shipped for Future Spawn, but he's big as fuck. He's literally a disembodied torso piloting a mech suit.
>>10318983right, I'm aware I can buy the not popular toys cheaply. It's the popular ones I seek is the issue haha, thankfully some of them are reasonably priced, but then you get to the gunslinger spawn and such and those go 100 plus bucks.
>>10319006I guess, but honestly many of the cheap figures are still pretty damn cool, and among some of the best ones. Like a lot of lines, I think there were just less units produced later and later as time went on, so they're pricier just because there were a lot fewer of them. But really, even the actual issues of the comics that characters like Gunslinger and Mandarin Spawn appeared in carry a pretty hefty premium these days. I never had those figures, but I'm glad I have and hung onto all of those old single issues during that period.
>>10318983Looks like a Strogg.
>>10319043ill have to look at the cheaper ones sometime, sure there is neat stuff in there, thanks for tip based anon.
>>10318983What the FUCK is this
>>10319068fucking kek
>>10319061>>10319068I always loved that Spawn because it was just so stupid. It reminded me of an old 90's movie called "Virus" which was about some alien mechanical virus thing (or...something like that) that gets beamed down to a ship, and there's some group of people on there for some reason, and the virus starts infecting all the machinery and killing people, and making these gory flesh-robot hybrid monsters.
>>10319006I'm glad I like the not-popular ones and am mostly ambivalent on the popular ones (namely the staction and statues). And the staction figures I liked most (Mandarin and Raven) I was able to find for reasonable prices since they're more common than the later stuff)
>>10319162got any good suggestions of the "not popular" stuff I should look into? I have Raven spawn

>>10319168Would agree with >>10319177 although Exo Skeleton Spawn is --underneath the exo-skeleton -- a remold of Spawn II without the cape, so one might be able to deprioritize one of the two.Spawn III tends to sometimes go for over $20ish dollar prices so is one of the more popular of the earlier figures and is thus harder to get cheap.I would also add:-Manga Violator-Gatekeeper-Techno Spawn wave's Cyber SpawnAnd 2 others straddling the lines as far as 'low cost':-Curse of the Spawn (this one can sometimes get into the $20s, usually not lower)-Cyber Manga Violator (is somewhat large and can also get up there into the high $20s or more with shipping, usually did not see him lower unless it was open/damaged)
>>10319243thanks to you as well m8, I'll have to look into all these suggestions.

>>10319258> Do you know who Goblox is?!-I will tell you who Goblox is. In the year 9595, a race of deformed turkey was developed by chicken scientists as revenge against his bird brother. These turkeys would exit the womb doused in gravy; gravy filled with the giblets..from a monkey. The French craved it, and, as a result, turkey became the only food source for France which is now called: RoboFrance 29. I was later killed by the chickens! So...of course..you can see why I'm angry at those chickens.

>>10325251I'm surprised there wasn't a regular assortment one still. I guess after Redeemer and Raven Spawn there hasn't really been much in the way of repaints. I'd like to see an unhelmeted "Dark Redeemer" though, and I wouldn't mind the regular one as well, with the coins over his eyes.

>>10330504Right!
Was there ever an official reason the Skyrim and Fallout stuff was abandoned?
>>10331356This is true across the figure industry except in very rare circumstances: when lines die they are just never spoken of, no reason is given, no "this line is ending now" is said, because a reason would burn bridges, saying the line is ending would close doors. If you work in business, you would know why.
>>10330676I love the sculpt but I find she has some issues getting her arms and hands into realistic poses for holding her guns. Maybe I'm just a poselet, I don't know. Maybe it's partly not having much of a faux-butterfly joint range. Also I kind of feel like you basically have to have 2, one to actually play with and one to keep pristine because I feel like using her legs a lot will wear out that diaper and stressing the head could be an issue with how heavy the hair is (and I was never a mint in box collector, but the figure looks so good I just don't really want to cause it to degrade or lose its look in any way)

>>10331431It can be covered by the smartly placed chain in the shespawn figures case
>>10331305Can someone explain what leads amazon to change the price on a figure that isn't even out yet 2 times?
>>10332516Algorithms based on popularity. People are buying? Price automatically goes up.
>>10332544Here's the problem: Amazon has the preorder price guarantee, so people always get the lowest of the prices on preorder, so raising it to 29.99 and then going back to 24.99 does literally nothing.
>>10332544I've seen shit go down in price when everyone was buying it. Recent Uncle Scrooge drama with Disney censoring and banning one of the most famous storyline made everyone rush out and buy it before it's gone forever. The premium edition went from $225 (msrp is $250) to $125 in less than a day and stayed at that price for 2 days.Same with the Mcfarlane AMP suit. When the movie was finally released, it hit almost half price and then apparently sold out, because its page disappeared for about two months. Didn't reappear until a month or two ago.I almost bought another one, because the AMP suit is a hell of a great toy, but I already own 3 (one mcfarane and two mattels). Might just buy the flame thrower version, but that's full price.
>>10332651i have it.Good toy, but not worth owning multiples of. might add weapons to it, but only if i see someone else customize it. I'm not one for planning shit out.
>>10332544This should be illegal.
>>10332516>>10332544>>10332585>>10332635>>10332635>>10332665noi sell on amazon, amazon has a price match, amazon is a little bit like ebay (but everything new,) , other sellers can sell, so lets say a figure is place by amazon officially at $30, but i place mine at $44, the amazon automatically matches to $44(but the other way also happens. if i place mine at $22, amazon has to lower it from $30 to $22)
>>10332723>so lets say a figure is place by amazon officially at $30, but i place mine at $44, the amazon automatically matches to $44One can find many, many examples right now where this does not occur, anon, like pic relatedWhen I've seen Amazon price match it's been to line up with sales on Walmart or Target
>>10316827Just found out they brought back Dragons. How hard do you think it will be to find last year's gold label variant?
>>10332960Amazon had the lowest price for the deluxe version of Life and Times, while everyone else had it for $175+. $175 was for used copies. I doubt even eBay had lower prices. So Amazon prices do change, and go down, when shit is selling well.
>>10333308Which one? There's two of them now. That green Eternal that was a McF site exclusive and then this new one they solicited that's a repaint of the Beserker.

I dislike to interrupt the love but there has to be some hate.It is looking like the Spawn line is going to go to $29.99 MSRP for a standard figure later this year, and some retailers already adjusted (Gamestop, EE at first then adjusted back, BBTS) while others are offering this wave at $24.99 for now (Target, Amazon, EE now) but 2 of the 3 indicate they know about the $29.99 price. Was hoping it was just BBTS and Gamestop being dicks and EE copying their move, but that isn't how it looks now. Not even Hasbro is to $29.99 for a standard figure for more niche collector IP like GI Joe Classified and that is frankly obscene for the quality of the engineering on the Spawn line. The actual engineering checks and articulation testing would need to get a lot better to justify that. Like they'd have to actually make the ab crunches work properly getting closer to a normal human range rather than giving a slight bit forward. They should have made sure the arms actually have functioning but not ugly butterfly joints, and the built in thigh swivels at the top are never impeded by the sculpts to the point where you get almost no swivel on some figures. These sometimes aren't even painted accurately when called for (Medieval Spawn for example). For 30 I'd probably sooner buy re-releases of the old McStatues like >>10318840 if they were painted remotely like the originals, as opposed to figures that may have the articulation POA of a modern figure but don't have the proper range, making many of the points of articulation useless. Like I can't even get an ankle rocker out of something like Raven Spawn because of the choice of the soft overlay covering his entire ankles.
>>10335125Not to mention the obvious corner-cutting on paint that figure has.If McFartlane wants to charge $30-35 he needs to up his game on paint and accessories too. More hands, more weapons, alternate heads.
>>10333602yeah, I'm mostly agreeing with the guy and offering an example of how Amazon isn't following prices from other stores, but rather, it's their automated system's algorithm making the change in price, where more purchases = price gets lower to entice more buyers. It seems the highest prices are when it's restocked, few of them are selling, or it's close to selling out (a dozen left).
>>10335125The Spawn line is a collector line for McFarlane. They're sold in comic shops and you can only find them in the seperate collector section at Target/Walmart. So their prices have always been higher, same as NECA, Diamond, Mezco, etc etc.In this case, you can't really compare the Spawn line to Hasbro's stuff, because 99% of Hasbro's stuff are children toys, same as McFarlane's DC figures, thus sold in quanties of hundreds of thousands to millions. Spawn toys are sold in tens of thusands. They're in a completely different market, and since price isn't dictated by Walmart/Target, they're allowed to increase price to where it matches their costs.
>>10335136Frankly I'd want them to focus on the hard part first, actually getting the articulation right. "More plastic" is easy and often McFarlaneToys' go to when they want to up the price, like with She-Spawn, Manga Spawn or Throne Spawn. accessories, hands, heads, etc don't require them to improve fundamentals. You still get the poor poseability. I wouldn't mind paying $30 for good posability and accurate paint.
>>10335484GI Joe is a collector line, anon, even if its Hasbro. The standard figures are still not 30 bucks. And it doesn't matter if they're "allowed" to increase price. What actually matters is if people will pay this increased price, and given how many Spawn figures I've seen on sale, many likely won't.
>>10335473> more purchases = price gets lower to entice more buyers.Large amounts of purchases should indicate demand is high, indicating the item is underpriced compared to its value to the consumer, and thus lead to the market adjusting the price up to get more out of buyers per product sold. Economics 101. Not sure what crazy logic says that if something is selling like crazy you lower the price even more.
>>10335620It doesn't cost more money to articulate the figure better, it requires talent and competence. They have the right joints(well not the hips though), they just haven't implemented them correctly. It doesn't cost extra to leave more room in the torso so that your ball can crunch forward. It doesn't cost extra to have more than 2 ratchet positions in the ankles.People hate on Anthony, but he's 100% right on this.
I was excited about medieval spawn but it looks like shit. Give us III with better articulation
>>10335622>GI Joe is a collector line>in the children toy aisles>full support from Walmart and Target>exclusives to make these stores order more products in the hundreds of thousands to millionsStill literally two different market places for GI Joe and Spawn. Collectors may buy these lines, but the scale in orders between the two lines is lopsided as fuck.Hasbro would not be producing the GI Joe line if they were selling under 100k. McFarlane does it all the time, hence taking DC Direct under their wing.Hell, Hasbro doesn't even sell 1:18 GI Joes anymore because they know it would strip sales away from the 1:12 line. To sell a cheaper toyline would hit their revenue numbers and Hasbro fears upsetting investors if their revenue drops.>given how many Spawn figures I've seen on saleAs pointed out in another thread, low prices, especially from Amazon doesn't mean it's selling poorly. Just last month Amazon was selling the $250 Life and Times of Uncle Scrooge for $125 because people were scrambling to buy the storyline because Disney announced to the creator they were banning the last two issues. It was half off, because of high demand, not because people weren't buying it. This is generally how sales work, hence stores tradtionally holding sales for movie toys when a movie is released. So we often saw a toyline being released for retail price, two months before the movie comes out, but when the movie was finally being shown, they got discounted, to push for dat high revenue stream.Whether something is actually shelf warming or not, and being clearanced off, is a bit more complex than what you think. See the Star Wars sequels and how that shit stayed on shelves for YEARS, and got offloaded to discount stores like Ross, MArshalls, and TJ Max.
>>10335651It actually does in general cost more money, because you have to hire different engineers who know how to do all those things and who also can figure out clever ways to get around issues with sculpts of specific characters' designs to still get good range. These engineers would be more competent and experienced and will thus on average demand higher salaries. In rare cases you will get a talented, experienced engineer who will work for less due to special circumstances (specific working arrangements, working on a property he is a fan of, good work environment, life-balance, etc.), but that is the exception, not the rule.
>>10335665That is a hand painted prototype, the consumer versions looked very good, but never looked THAT good.
>>10333602>>10335473>>10335646I've seen their price lower after I set mine lowWether is selling high or not. Even older figures, I post it low, a day later Amazon lowers theirs. Regardless of how much it's selling.
>>10335671At minimum, half of the GI Joe stuff is relegated to online shops and/or Hasbro Pulse, and even the one big vehicle they did was a Haslab project. And even the stuff that is supposed to be widely available, never really hits stores. You basically never see effectively 80-90% of this stuff unless you buy it online.
>>10335691I can see amazon lowering the price by like 1 dollar if a third party tries to undercut them, but I don't see third party sellers going to 15 bucks on a 25 dollar figure and amazon following suit.
>>10335678Lol if plebeian customizers are able to improve the range of torsos on Mcfart figures, just by popping them apart and chopping bits of plastic away with a dremel, it CANNOT be that fucking hard or demanding to hire someone who knows how to design a toy that skips that step on the customizers end. >Todd paying $10,000 more salary premium for a guy who knows to leave more room in the torso interior for a ball-joint to workKek.
>>10335671Why is Hasbro producing Indiana Jones figures from the old movies if they steer well clear of less than 100k? Or Dungeons and Dragons figs based on that old cartoon? Because guaranteed those aren't selling 100k.Are these two being subsidized by the incoming movies even though they aren't figures directly for those movies?Second I've seen DCMV and Page Punchers in both the collectors section and kids toys sections. Often stores will just shovel anything that isn't moving there to clear out space. It isn't a hard and fast divide. As far as Spawn figures on sale, I was more thinking of the ones that were for single digits on EE or close to that on GS, less so than amazon. Although the $19 Overtkill Amazon had for a bit was a pretty crazy price. (Still not worth it though.) Now $30 Violator I will admit was probably worth it.
>>10335646I'm not an economist or even a store manager, but we routinely see sales for products when shit is at the height of its popularity.Stores like Walmart and Target have traditionally put movie toys on sale the week that a movie is to be released. Why would they put those toys on sale if the movie is going to drive sales like crazy for the next month whether its on sale or not?Because they'll sell a lot more products that way.Dem sexy revenue numbers to make investors happy, because even operating at a loss doesn't matter, hence companies like Amazon not turning a profit for 15 years and still being called one of the most successful companies to ever exist. No doubt, stores like Walmart and Target are turning a profit, whereas Amazon was taking all those losses to gain a consumer base and steal market share away from Walmart and Target.Amazon is making a profit now, but check out dat slim margin. So despite putting shit on sale, they're still making a profit (one way or another).
>>10335702>Dem sexy revenue numbers to make investors happy, because even operating at a loss doesn't matterThese behemoths are probably so bloated and disorganized they no longer need to abide by normal laws of supply and demand and things are sold near a loss just to shoot up temporary revenue numbers even if it hurts true profit in the end. When the general public are the investors I suppose that also hurts since they don't pay attention to how the company is run at all and will do incorrect things like confuse revenue for profit.
>>10335678>It actually does in general cost more moneyIn general, that higher price comes from the amount of pieces that are molded. As we've seen from Kaiyodo, the sculptor is also the engineer. They're not paying more money to engineer that shit. NECA, Hasbro, Bandai, Mezco, etc etc don't have some expert engineer being paid high cash monies to engineer the toy, because they also use already on staff employees doing that shit, if it isn't the sculptor himself doing it too.>>10335701>Why is Hasbro producing Indiana Jones figures from the old movies if they steer well clear of less than 100k? Or Dungeons and Dragons figs based on that old cartoon? Because guaranteed those aren't selling 100k.Indiana Jones is a huge property. That built in fanbase of millions buys shit up just by existing. Animated D&D may not have as many fans, but they still exist in the millions and they hope NEW fans will buy the animated D&D figures simply being cause it has Dungeons and Dragons on the packaging. It's a better tie in than fucking Bananas and Apples having a D&D sticker on them. OR rather, it's no different than how Marvel movie waves feature comic book characters in them. >Second I've seen [... ]Page Punchers in both the collectors section and kids toys sections. It's likely they just incorrectly placed them there or it's one of those endcaps where they also stick DVDs/books/bananas along with the toys to push sales for X. Endcaps are sometimes paid for for marketing purposes.>>10335692Hasbro Pulse definitely does not account for half of merch sold if Walmart, Target, and even Walgreens carries the line. Hasbro's store probably sells fewer units than BBTS. Company stores basically act as a remainder outlet, but at full price.
>>10335729That's even worse then since it means every sculptor who they outsource to for bottom dollar would need to be good at toy engineering, and they definitely aren't. Also the way McFarlane's articulation has its own style still leads me to believe they have a template drawn out by an engineer for the sculptors. Changes like going from ball wrists/ankles to sculpted wrists/ankles was not a bunch of outsourced sculptors getting together and doing it.
>>10335744>That's even worseWorse than what? It's literally how every known company operates, including the highly poseable Revoltechs a small fanbase spooges over.Your fantasy of how toys are made doesn't exist. >template drawn out by an engineer for the sculptorsagain, an engineer doesn't exist, unless you refer to the head art director as that engineer who created the template when sculpting the very first figure in the line. Pic of how a sculptor follows said template, who also decides how much sculpt to leave in, which may or may not be modified when producing the prototypes for the molds.
>>10335754>subby moment

>>10335830>On clearance before they're out
>>10335830Target doesnt make sense
