>>10228177>ANIME Ginn is a easy and fun figure to play around with, and tempted to get more with the cheaper prices I see it go for on MandarakeHaven't had the chance to take pics in a while, but I'm also enjoying the Ginn! My one criticism would be the difficulty to get it standing due to the backpack, but that's the design of the MS. And you gotta get a second one to outfit it with the ZAFT weapon set parts, haha.>>10240074I highly recommend the Zaku II Kai (0080 model)! I'm a bit biased as it's one of my favorite models, but the RD is excellent with a superb spread of accessories with multiple display options. Does have hip joints that are tad too stiff, but they get smoother if you work 'em back and forth a bit. Also, pretty much all the MSV Zakus are rad as heck, but unfortunately they're web exclusives that are pretty pricey now. GMs are superb too! Can't really go wrong with any of the various models.>>10240557>>10241248I preordered it but both of you are absolutely correct, it's gonna be a bear to display and will likely spend most of its time boxed up or collecting dust. My reasoning to preorder though, is that this is probably the only opportunity to get it and if came to regret passing on it after release, the aftermarket prices will likely be prohibitive. Shipping costs alone are gonna be astronomical for aftermarket GN Arms. On US P-Bandai, I'm paying 10 bucks for shipping (combined with 4 other items that ship the same month too) and you just can't beat that! That's what I tell myself to distract from the pricetag anyways, haha.>>10241064Oh dang, grats on the valk!
Shining and Lupus Rex are the only good ones in this lineup.
>>10240538Yes, and I have been selling parts of my collection to purchase a 2nd one because one of the promo videos had a bit at the end that makes me think Type D is going to be an option set, and not a full release.
>>10241574huh this line still going? i guess it sells
>>10241585You're a madman. Where are you going to find room to display 2 GN Arms at once?
>>10241574>Ignoring based AerialLupus Rex is a hideous design.
>>10241593I suppose I have 7 months to figure it out. I recently moved and have some space to get some display shelves. Billys from Ikea have wide enough shelves for me to put the figure in longways, but they're only 11 inches deep so I don't how much I could get out of the GN arms other than a side profile.
>>10241612They fucked up the Aerial. You're better off buying the Robot Spirits instead. At least that one can do the Bit gimmick
>>10241587It probably does ok business just from foot traffic at Target and comic book stores. Remember these are designed to be cheap and accessible like Marvel Legends. And a few of them (e.g. Ez8, Sazabi) do manage to punch above their weight in the price range.
Someone should've warned me the HMR Roundfacer has a spring loaded chest piece gimmick, because I'm having a hard time curbing my enthusiasm over how it keeps misaligning itself. It's a cool way to implement a deformation effect into the toy's articulation though.
>>10241876>curbing my autism*
>>10241574How have they not done a green Zaku yet
>>10241626Madman.
>>10241876ah, sorry about that. I've gotten used to it and never think about it. at least on mine, usually a light finger-tap from one side or the other will center it again.
>>10242065Well that's not going to help me with the fact I ordered several of them!By the end of it all I'll have at least 3 of the 40th anniversary version (and only at least 3 because the 4th is in a limbo where I can't tell for sure if the seller had a clerical error and reported nonexistent inventory, they were quick to respond they were looking into it when I asked but I haven't heard any new developments so far and I'm not a fan of badgering people incessantly as if I'm somehow the most important customer in the room)
>>10241670They're better than Marvel legends lol
>>10241574>Aerial doesn't have the Permet markingsGoddammit, just like the RD. Guess that'll be a Target exclusive.
>>10242104ha! you really jumped in headfirst. and wow, that's a lot of Insteads. you're going to end up with like nine of them?
>>10242241Yeah it's pretty much "40th Anniversary Instead with Combat Armor" at this point, it's been very silly.
>>10242344I'm pretty sure the Insteads were exclusively used by the Feddies in the anime, so that's like, 13 against 1. . . . Which is also like in the anime :D
>>10242428They'll never approve independence from their federation.
>>10241568I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the suggestion.
unsure whether to look into preordering Sentinel's new Gurren Lagann- now with 45% more anime accuracy and 100% more gattai gimmickry- or keep looking for one of the older onesyour thoughts/advice, Sirs?
>>10241574I'm pretty firm on believing that gundam universe is a good idea. If some kid is watching something on youtube or whatever, being able to walk into a target or whatever and buy a big, sturdy representation of their favorite robot for 20 bucks is great. But christ, I just wish they weren't so bad. I've gotten at least one from every wave, and they're all just full of unforced errors.
>>10242888get it brotherI though it was set to release on December last year, how far back did it get pushed?
>>10243104Is that a new release of the lightning mb pack?
>>10243122>>10243104Oh it is. Sick, im glad I bought the noir.
>>10241574Tallgeese II is always nice to have.
GP03 just arrived and I love it. Will definitely get GP04 when it's out.
>>10242888I'm getting it.>>10243051Supposed to come out this week I think.
>>10243104Oh so it's just a recolour, was confused with what's new from the teased pic but nice to know there's no difference other than paint.>>10243129Wait you can combine 2 of them together to make a makeshift Crossbone pack?
>>10243663>this weekit's over.......
>>10243697No wait I take that back, it's just the rifle assembly being attached onto the arms just like how it always was.
>>10242888>already have the Chogokin re-release and the metal CCS versionCan't decide if I want to keep my pre-order or not
Post some toys
>>10244097Post some well posed toys first
>>10244097I wish Yamato/Arcadia went a bit harder on ground crew figurines for the Macross line and didn't just have them be Destroid exclusive.
Been thinking about dipping my toe into some Macross DX Chogokins. Was looking at the Max YF-29 and the retail release of the Hayate VF-31AX next month. I’ve heard the whole line is a mixed bag of QC, but what sort of stuff am I getting into?
>>10244097I haven't taken anything in ages so have this ancient picture
Trying to find a Scopedog for a reasonable price that isn't a model kit feels like a shit shoot. Are the old Takara Actic Gear figures worth checking out?
>>10244289The 31AX's fit and finish for the arms has historically been off by a bit leading to arms that don't quite seem to tab in right which ends up sucking massive dick when up until that point the 31 sculpt was perhaps the most well engineered DX Valk sculpt in Bandai's catalog with excellent fit and finish all around. The YF-29 tends to develop loose joints but that's a quirk of the Frontier line in general, the Delta toys are rock solid in comparison, even the Kairos Plus is still rugged as fuck joint wise. Past that, there's still the Bandai QC silliness that comes with the scale of production they operate at. But if you can live with it... well, even then you have to endure scalper hell for any of the figures not in production. But the VF-1 Valkyrie is definitely one of the highlights of the DX lineup. The non-AX 31 family is also quite good but at this point every single one of them and/or the accessory parts sets for them becomes a scalper hell scenario; there's the 31J with Fold Projector release that's probably the most affordable of the Siegfrieds but you'll have to live knowing that the Super Parts for the 31J are a pretty penny themselves nowadays. The 31AX Hayate re-release might prove to be worth keeping an eye on though. At the absolute worst it has the most support for accessory options, as it got both Super and Armored parts released for it, in addition to the Super Ghost set. It just remains to be seen if the arm fit situation in fighter mode gets any better.
>>10244341Threezero is making a 6in one
>>10244386Yeah, I had eyes on all those super packs for the VF-31AX, Zettai Live speaks to my soul, and being able to get the base 31AX for MSRP now sans special stand makes getting all the add-ons seem like a much better deal. As for the Durandal getting loose joints, I’m a bit of a fiend for Metal Robot Spirits, so as long as it doesn’t get loose any faster than they do I’ll be fine (and worst comes to worst there’s always the Valk mode being a display option). Still holding out hope for a VF-22 or Gamlin’s VF-17, those are my top two Valk designs, just a shame they’re a bit too niche to ever be done justice these days.
>>10244402It's just the way the 29 is constructed, it's very "diecast ball joint floppiness" if you get what I mean. The renewal VF25 sculpt, being derived from the 29's engineering, inherits those issues as well, and by the time of the 29 Max and the 25 Worldwide Anniversary the mold for those toys seems to really be getting ragged or something, or maybe Bandai's contracted manufacturing plant at the time got sloppy with their output. As for me, I'm in the private hell of holding out for a modern take on the VF-11. The Thunderbolt just speaks to me, it's just this utilitarian no frills grunt of a machine and I love it.
>>10244341Bandai's had a HMR in the pipe for a while now. Remains to be seen if or when it releases.
>>10244321>the fabled blue Z'Gok!kinda want one. love the Z'gok mold.
>>10244073>Chogokin re-releaseI'm still pissed about this- the SRC would've been nearly ideal if it weren't for those giant Torgo knees.
>>10244341Bandai have been teasing Hi-Metal R Scopedogs for a while now so expect those soon. There's also some 1/12 scale ones that have functional cockpits.
I predict a Metal Build Zeta this year.
>Angelbird VF-1As are starting to ship>still no word of the 5 I orderedFucking fuck I have no room for this
>>10245608My wallet can handle only so much.
>>10244140KekDon't worry, he'll spam his shitty posed pics even harder now.
>>10245707They better not, Or else. Or else what? Exactly.

>>10247927Nice
>>10247927Yuck
>>10245608I'd rather they ditch the transformation gimmick for a more solid figure if they do. They won't though, since it gives them an excuse to jack up the price.
>>10247927I find it unacceptable that they refused to include the activated GUND system parts for the price they're charging. No doubt they'll announce an "awakening ver" later this year on Pbandai with all the bells and whistles included.
>>10245608Wouldn't Zeta be better off in Fix Figuration? And why the fuck does Bandai need like 5 different product lines for "toy, but with diecast internals" anyway?
>>10248370MRDs are smaller, cheaper and usually sculpted in a direction towards anime or lineart accuracy.I think the GFF line approach is to look more realistic and emphasize the machine aspect of the designs.MB is stylized redesigns and nowadays just seems like they've gone the chinese plamo builder route of "how much shit can we slap on this mecha?"
>>10248652Unless it's an Ebikawa design in which case it's reasonably on point with lineart.
>>10248652>MB is stylized redesigns and nowadays just seems like they've gone the chinese plamo builder route of "how much shit can we slap on this mecha?"Youre not wrong. I collect MBs and red frame is the prime victim of this. Dragonic and this, especially this, are the worst. I love RFK but they butchered the tactical arms with that insanely shitty handle.
>>10248660>>10248661The MB line started with Ebikawa's designs which makes me think that's the reason why the MBs based on his work are more reserved and in continuity than the others.I don't know if Junichi Akutsu or Okawara give any direction when it comes to the SEED MBs. But Ebikawa is very much involved, the MB line is like his Ver.Ka.
>>10245707You're mean
>>10248685It could also be that there's natural overlap on Ebikawa's style and the MB line's love for exposed metal elements, while other designs would be reworked to better emphasize those elements. Or something.
>>10248685It's a shame the line is so Gundam focused. The Arbalest, Gernsback and Laevatein are some of the best MBs.
>>10248935>tfw no FalkeWhy would you do this, Bandai.
>>10248935yeah i think the mazingers are great too, the upcoming dunbine looks like the most interesting MB in awhile too
>>10248935Still fucking pissed the XL Boosters for both it and the Laevatein still aren't made yet despite being teased during the expo reveals or whatever they're called.
>>10249404Oh man you too?Yeah finding out they got as far as display prototype has really gnawed at me for a while.
>>10249404>>10249575>2023... I am forgotten
don't lose hope anons. the metal build lancelot albion was first teased in 2013 so there is still hope. bandai just needs more time.
>>10249582Yep, that makes sense Bandai.Do XL boosters for RD and model kit, but not on MB.Yep. Seems legit.>it wasn't legit in the slightest

>>10250015>>10250016>>10250019He's a good lookin' fella
>removing a small pegged in item from figure>it yeets itself across the room to God knows fuck whereWell, guess I'm investing in that 3d printer after all, I have no fucking clue if this one flung itself into an open trash bag of all places and I'm probably better off just trying to fab my own replacement.
>>10250295What was it.
>>10250305Half of a bracket for holding the sheath of a monomolecular cutter for a 1/60 Alter AlMecha M9 Gernsback. For some reason back when they sculpted out the figure a decade or so ago they thought that the bracket clip thing should be two halves that peg together, and not a hinged part like what the Metal Builds would go with later on. Worst case scenario I'm going to go find the cheapest used equivalent on ebay and cannibalize the parts. I'm pretty sure the ancient decrepit original release Arbalest figure in that same line has the same set of brackets and that thing was rendered obsolete by a later revised reissue.
>>10250016Looks good, but I'm glad I got the white one with the weird booster legs instead. It's just a more unique looking design.
>>10249144Are there any pics of it yet? I can't find shit other than Metal Build Billbine and Sirbine.
>>10250335he prolly means the sirbine
>>10250401sexo
Is it just me or is the GM Cold Districts type really hard to find secondhand? I never ever see them for sale on AmiAmi or Mandarake and on Ebay they have relatively high prices.I've got the vanilla GM, GM Cannon, Light Armor, Command, Type C, and most recently Ground, but I'd really like a Cold Districts to round out my "unique grunts".
>>10248935The figures are good, the stands suck ass though. For how often the Arbalest and such are jumping around they have awful stands that couldn't possibly do an aerial pose.
>>10250401I've never watched a single episode of Dunbine but I'm completely in love with the Sirbine design. I can't think of any other mecha that I love without any context of the source material. Is this going to be hard to get? Is it the kind of thing that sells out instantly on AmiAmi or will it be a P-Bandai release that US buyers have some time to get their hands on?
>>10250780I think this will be a regular release.They don't tease/display P-Bandai exclusive MBs
>>10250780It will probably sell out instantly on JP sites like usual. I think getting it domestically through US retail will be pretty easy though, dunbine is incredibly niche here and the price tag will turn off most impulse buyers.
>>10247927I Love how the Exia really looks like a cool Big brother and Aerial a cute sister.
>>10247927Never bought a chogokin before. What are they like compared to MBs?
>>1024428931AX Bogue came in the mail today, you wanna see what the cursed QC lottery could look like?I'm excited myself, personally. Just gotta get home first.
What's a good way to clean diecast metal stuff like Chougokins? I took my Kurogane Finish Big O out of storage and the pistons have a bunch of little spots that look like rust dotting them. My last apartment was a humid nightmare so I'm worried that it may be rust.
What are some lesser known mecha figures(i.e non Gundam, macross, eva, etc) that have this tacticool "commando" look with a bunch of guns, weapons and other equipment?
>>10250763Yeah those "stands" are more just supports for them to safely stand on their hangar diorama baseplates. You can kinda sorta bullshit some ground hugging ninja runs though, for what it's worth.
>>10251965Armored core? Omega Boost had a figure I think... uhh... Xabungle?
>>10251965Front Mission and Joy Toy
>>10251965Pretty much anything Full Metal Panic, but most especially the Metal Build M9E Gernsback with its utterly outrageous amount of extra weaponry so you can kit it for any situation your imagination could dream up.
>>10251087I've not had a Gundam Chogokin, just the Gipsy Danger. It has a little bit less metal than my MBs, I don't think the elbows are metal and there's no backpack to have metal joints in, but other than it's pretty similar. Paint apps and decals everywhere, looks really nice as a display piece, just doesn't feel like it's quite as sturdy.
>>10250511Still mad they didn't do the ground GM.
>>10252033For $400something secondhand you too can join the Hugo Gernsback rat pack!Just be careful with the shoulder armor on them. C-clips are not the most secure mounting system.
>>10252624>tfw i left my mb arbalest at the office before the lockdown and now it's missing
>>10252640Damned Amalgam spooks
>>10252624What are those cords that connect to the Guns for? I can't imagine they're power cords since the arms they use in FMP are just scaled up conventional weapons.
>>10252838Unclear, at least for me, the one guy who read the books rather than watch the anime. It's most likely a power cable, the 57mm Bofors gun shown with the cable jutting out of it? Mechanically identical to the very same Bofors 57mm in the real world, or so I've heard. That'd make it an electronically fired autocannon, so instead of some firing pin smacking into a primer setting off an explosive reaction and all that you instead have an electrical zap that does the work. And so my guess is that the cable is to provide that zap.If it isn't that, then it's probably for fire control data linking. The 76mm sniper cannon in the past has been portrayed with a cable shoved into it, but hell that could be the same case of electronically fired action. The weapon systems in FMP can get a little crazy though, since while they ape the aesthetic of infantry weapons they actually tend to derive from the combat vehicle arms industry, like the aforementioned Bofors battle 'rifle'
Why didn't they just label this and the crossbone under the A.N.I.M.E line? It's basically what they are.
>>10253262So they can release a slightly different deco as Ver A.N.I.M.E, duh.
>>10253262Does it come with effects parts?
>>10253284Yeah it has these neat hands to let you do the beam spin from the movie.I don't even think the Metal Build has these.
>>10253262They didn't feel equivalent to ANIME figures at all in terms of engineering or sculpt. I think this was an attempt at a cheaper subline with less focus on accuracy like old RDs used to be but both figures bombed.
>>10253306>I don't even think the Metal Build has these.MB doesnt ever come with effect parts outside of the full package SF/Destiny
>>10253262It is out of scale of the anime line. It needs to be at least a head shorter than very other OYW suits. This thing is like bigger than RD gundamA shame because The figure is great though. It certainly is the best thing on the market for F91 considering how horrible HGUC is and lack of decent range movement with the MG 2.0. the 1.0 is like better looking HG in term of style, but it isn't the proper F91 look
