That way you can pour out and scoop up pieces instead of having to pick them out with your fingers. Harbor Freight has a brand called Storehouse that makes that style of box for very cheap. Sterilite drawers are nice because it's a modular system you can link together to make tall stacks of drawers. Uline bins are uline bins and will be an extremely functional system for all time regardless of if it's for Lego or not. Mix and match as necessity dictates.
