Thanks to the new movie we will see new toys, are you excited?

>movie toys
>>
>>10230392
No i'm anti excited. I never cared for D&D. Tabletop games are overrated.

The movie will just be a copy or lord of the rings. I have zero interest.

The figures all have massive qc issues

Further releasing toys for D&d is stupid because the game is for teens, and teens don't buy toys
>>
>>10230432
Actually D&D is barely for teens anymore, and more for 30+ year old deviants from the portland area.

Hippies don't have money. These toylines are going to fail hard, and no kids are going to want them.
>>
>>10230392
I don't care about the movie but those dice monsters are pretty nice and look like fun desk toys to me.
>>
>dice roll turns into literal boss fight

>The movie will just be a copy or lord of the rings.
It looks like a Guardians of the Galaxy clone instead.
>>
>>10230392
D&D is a dead brand in a few months. Hasbro CEO is a fucking idiot and nose diving the entire company. Higher prices, worsening quality of their products is not how you grow a company. And it's all across the board too.
>>
>>10230528
Because Guardians of the Galaxy totally invented the trope right?
Shut the fuck up.

I should have sworn I saw those in a video a toy youtuber was doing at a toy convention.
They even showed off a gelantinous cube that came that your figure can fit in it like a case and came with accessories.
I'll have to try and find it again.

Peg warmer number 2. I can't get over they're asking $25 per figure with this kind of quality.

THIS is $28 meaning for just $3 more you can buy something to shoot at your kids with.
>>
This is $17
>>
This one is $12
>>
>>10230661
To be fair, that’s how good gear in D&D works pretty much.
>>
These are the game pieces for the Dungeons and Dragons Monopoly set.
>>
Gelantinous Cube
$34
Doesn't come with figure but their Golden Archive D&D figure does fit inside it to make it look like it's being eaten.
It comes with 14 accessories. So I'm kinda on the fence about this because I like the idea and it'd be a good way to hide the shit quality of the figures but at the sametime I'd have to shell out a total of around $60.
I could probably just buy a peg warmer later and use it and save a few bucks.

8 inches tall, the accessories can be removed from the cube (which is pretty neat)
I'm a sucker for this one because I see practical use to it as well.

>>
To be clear, pic related is their original mimic plush
This one is 7 1/2 inches $16.99 (though seems to be sold out where I'm looking but it says restocking soon)
So you might want to go after the movie version since I'm assuming they'll stop doing those after the movie is done with.
The cube and the 11 inch mimic are being branded specifically for the movie.

>>10230721
Any idea of the cost? like would it be cheaper to buy the monopoly game for $45?
>>
This is being marketed for the movie.

I had no idea a displacer was going to be in it until I just came across this. Not sure if it was in the trailer I only saw it once.
>>
>>10230649
>>10230654
And you better HOPE the figure looks this "good" inside the box.
>>
>>10230746
If anyone was on the fence about getting the movie displacer plush, this is their normal displacer.
It says this is 1/2 inch taller but I don't think it is. But it's also priced the same as the movie version.
Honestly, I'd go with the movie version, choker is pretty cool.

>>
>>10230392
This has got to be the most retarded gimmick possible.

The figures of the actors are terrible and boring as well. >>10230654

The cube >>10230699
uses highly stylized and cartoonish accessories for some reason,a really shit looking color and construction method that makes it look like a cheap plastic ice cube, and only has one stand inside for one figure.

The plush are the only items that are decent, and that's because Hasbro isn't making them.

What a embarrassing line.

The problem is the fact that Hasbro has one of the most popular fantasy series ever made and did nothing with it for decades.
Just kept as a book series and left to dry out while they focused on selling Magic cards, which they also didn't bother to cross over as a toyline or anything else.
>>
>>10231044
>which they also didn't bother to cross over as a toyline or anything else.
They have made mtg toys though
>>
>>10230980
>>10231044
The only chance for Dragonlance merch is a movie adaptation of the main books and I'm sure that would suck monkey balls, so I'd rather have nothing if that means they don't make a mockery out of the books.
>>
>>10231050

>>
>>10231055
I mean Drizzt got a new figure. Idk whether that line was cancelled but it is possible to see non mainline D&D characters get afigure or two. I agree though a film adaptation is sometging I would rather not see in this day and age. Enough franchises have been bastardized by hollywood as is.
>>
>>10231047
Hasbro didn't make Magic toys.
Funko made MTG toys, because Hasbro didn't want to for decades. Of course, they were absolutely shit, which no doubt made Hasbro think they were correct in making nothing at all.

Cross promotion and multimedia was a complicated mystery for them. They had to be egged on by smarter companies, but once those companies left, they were stumped and left confused, holding onto their properties, wondering why they no longer am going.
Hasbro basically works at making happy accidents and riding the coat tails of other companies.

Man, I wish I checked this thread before I hamhanded my own lil Amazon girl. Snapped that elbow clean off. If I knew they were going to be this fragile I would've given them a hot water bath.

I got both her and the archer dude and truth be told...they're not good figures. They look nice, like they just stepped out of the cartoon. But their articulation and overall feel is just awful. Stiff joints that are apparently also very brittle. Hard plastic skirts and tunic hampering articulation. Weak grips for their boring ass weapons (which I expected), and the archer only has one gripping hand and can't even actually two hand his bow. He also has no details under his cowl piece so you can't just rip that off to free up his arms.

I'm usually a huge fan of Hasbro's stuff, their Drizzt was one of my favorite figures the year he came out. But these guys are bottom of the barrel, closer to their Overwatch figures or cheaper Marvel Legends then the fantastic Fortnite or Classified lines. For an in-house brand, and the launch of said brands new toyline, these are a sad showing. I'm going to try and fix my Amazon girl, because I do like her as a figure, but I'll be a lot more hesitant to buy any more of these guys.

>>10230980
Man, I don't know much about actual D&D Lore, but I do know I love me some fantasy figures. If they put out a good ol Valkyrie girl or that gaudy armored knight, I don't think I could pass on em.

wotc/hasbro has been trying to sell 5 packs of kobolds for 40-60 dollars when there's cheaper alternatives literally e v e r y w h e r e.
They're specifically preying on new players ignorance to scalp them.
You can get 50 orcs and dwarves from em4 for 20 dollars. you can get a bucket of reaper bones for the same. you can get OODLES of mage knight figures on ebay for literal cents.

The dragon is a great design. The paint is lacking compared to the equivalent Mcfarlane megafig. The wings are great but they cheaped out on the head legs and tail. Wings look like they are not articulated.
Alternate folded wings would be an acceptable solution, maybe even preferable to articulation.

I've been waiting for the kickstarter for these dragons. Any idea when it's going to open up for orders?

Cyberzoic kickstarter is supposedly going to happen in October. I am curious how many dinosaurs, armors and riders, and dragons will be on offer and how waves will be split.

>>
>>10279968
Not that I'm too thrilled with the quality of the line (my Diana is a bit shit) but I'd rather have silver than flat blue just because the cartoon was too cheaply animated to add any kind of shading.
I need to get back to the show, it's fun.

>>

Usually a toy's glasses are in front of the eyes and higher up the face. Presto's a rare instance where the character wears the glasses low. I'm not saying I like the result I just wonder if there are any instances in the scale where someone has eyewear like Presto does.
>>
>>10279968
Really, that's grayish blue.
Back in the 80's, remember, the animators had to paint those cells by hand, and believe it or not, they did not have ALL that much choice available. They can't exactly paint a metallic shine on his chainmail so they picked the most "grey adjacent" color they had, which just so happened to be that bluish tone.
Not to mention any miniature painter that does non-metallic-metal (painting metal bits without using metallic paints, but rather normal acrylics) does, at some point, use blue between the black and the light grey when painting silver.
I understand your point but it was always "meant" to be shiny silver.

Hell if I know. That's also not the greyish blue from the cartoon, it's just "blue". By the looks of it, the same blue as the bad guy's helmet from the pic above. My guess is they just reused the same paint there too.
>>
>>10279968
Although I agree that it should be a shade or 2 darker, I'm ok with it being silver.

I plan on getting this smug pos. Probably the only one I'm looking forward to.

I did pick up Diana recently. Her and Bobby were the only ones on the pegs at the time. I don't mind the paint style they chose. It lends itself well to the cartoon look.

Just wish the line either had better articulation or was like 5 bux cheaper.

This has to be one of the biggest toy fuck ups I've ever seen. The same exact company did a better looking shimmery cube with their cosmic cube release just a little earlier. Both the design and execution of this are horrible. Should have had a sculpt that looked a bit more slimy or like melting candle wax, with fewer pieces so it doesn't look like a snap together box. Add in something cool like a skeleton figure to stick in the center. You're welcome hasblow.

To this day I still regret all those times I passed this badass up while at TRU. I kept "waiting for a sale" and it never came, these guys never got any kind of discount because they were too awesome to be sold for cheap.

I did get the new D&D dragon, but he's too....flat. I don't mind the 5 PoA (more would've been nice) but he is just way too skinny to really be intimidating. But he'll still make a good mount for any number of my fantasy figures.

>>10280655
It's almost absurd how much the quality dropped from this guy to the animated figures. Drizzt was one of the best figures to come from Hasbro in a long time while the animated D&D guys are probably some of the worst I've handled. I would've picked up the whole team, but after finding out the archer guy can't actually arch and then having my amazon girl's arm snap right off (she now has a skeleton arm), I'm pretty much done with the line.

.....maybe I'll grab the red head, I could always use a cute ginger rogue in my collection.

I don't know the quality of the movie figures yet though so I can't really complain about them. And I know you're being sarcastic about a line "full of civilians"...but I actually do want some generic fantasy people for my villains to bully about so I think these guys are great. I do hope we see more actual adventurers though, but I don't know much about established D&D characters to care about specific ones.

>>10289413
It's like the accessories were made for the animated figures, yet the cube itself is (barely) based on the movie version. If the accessories were more realistic it'd be a worthwhile accessory pack, or maybe it had a full skeleton figure you could take apart or something. But with the weird cartoon gear and that awful cube, this set is just bad.
>>
>>10302267
This line is DOA. All the qc issues helped sink it faster than ever.
>>
>>10307613
.....well they made the whole main cast and the main humanoid villain, so it's not like it had many places left to go. I'm sure the movie line will stick around for a bit, and hopefully after that a classic D&D line of some kind. Ideally, they'd make a line of classic mosters as D&D is one of those franchises where the monsters are more important than the heroes. But I doubt Hasbro would have the balls to run a toyline of all monsters.
>>
>>10230654
>if only you knew how bad it was

modern fantasy sucks so much dick man. Im starting to sincerely reminisce over shit like hansel and gretel and snow white and the huntsmen over the drivel being spat out now.
>>
>>10307844
True, Shadow Demon and Tiamat are the only other recurring characters from the cartoon, one would be tricky to make a toy of, the other would need to be a huge Haslab project. It's possible they could make toys of some generic monsters or of one-off villains from specific episodes, but if they were planning that, they'd probably have put some in the first two waves. It probably is planned to be an 80s nostalgia line that's just those two waves and nothing else.
