IGN (of all places) has several RDs for 40% off with coupon code BYE2022

D'oh! Meant to type "Metal Composite" but I had just been looking at the MB GN-Arms so MB was stuck in my head, haha. Pumped for the GM though, the sliced-shield part for RX-78 is awesome too.
>>
Anyone who has the Metal Robot Destiny Gundam, how much of a pain is it to attach the Palma Fiochina hands (both the normal and effect set ones)? I love MRDs but breaking in the hands for the first time is not something I look forward to, and the effect parts on those hands in particular look like they’re gonna make it even harder to get them on.
>>
>>10201865
It's a pretty decent deal depending on shipping costs though. I didn't even know IGN had a store.
>>
>>10202384
>$13 to ship a single RD, total cost for RX-79 is $65
Alright, I guess that's not that good of a deal. But even Amazon has it for $73. The GM Ground is $54 on Amazon, which is decent given shipping, but still. Didn't domestic RD prices used to be a lot better? What the fuck happened? Is this a consequence of Bandai buying Bluefin? I kind of fell out of toys so I'm out of the loop.
>>
>>10202393
I feel like it's Bluefin. A lot of the times with other Bandai products (notably SHF) their US price usually isn't too bad relative to Japan, maybe a couple dollars more expensive (considering shipping), but offset by being way easier to get since pre-orders don't sell out in 1 minute. Like maybe from Japan an SHF Krillin is like 35 dollars, maybe 15-20 to ship, and then be 55 on Amazon or BBTS. But an RD could be 55 dollars, maybe 15-20 to ship, but then be 85 dollars. I didn't go out and compare prices before posting this, this is just a trend that I feel like I've noticed over the last year or two, if some other anon wants to go dig through listings and bullshit and prove me wrong, go for it.
>>
>>10202424
I wouldn't fault them if it's their way of adjusting for the insanely lopsided yen-USD rate.

It could be raw greed, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of other factors.
>>
>>10202424
Even now I suppose it isn't too bad if you factor in what shipping from Japan would be (even taking advantage of Mandarake's lower prices on a few recent RD releases, you need to buy three figures to offset shipping and make it worth it), but that kind of defeats the whole appeal of getting domestic distribution when that's the standard. I hoped Bandai acquiring Bluefin would make things better, but I guess not.
>>
>>10202384
>>10202393
Free shipping over $100, so gotta get multiples for a decent deal.

It's a slow general, you may not get an answer in the same thread or week. But to answer your question:
Buy the old ver ka instead. The figure is fine in & of itself (a little plain) but the thin plastic clips that connects to energy shields to the ring (for posing) are really fragile (to the point where connecting them for the first time has a more likely chance to break them than not). All my clips have broken so I've had to jury rig something to hold the shields around the figure. That is why it is so cheap if you are wondering. My ver ka has held up much better & is much more detailed.

I'm hoping the MB Dynames sells well so we can get the other two S1 CB Gundams in MB(I really just want the Kyrios), but it's been open to preorder for a while now.
Is the Dynames just not popular?
>>
>>10210245
P-Bandai MBs tend to have pre-orders open for a while. The Dynames Repair III that was a general release a year and a half ago sold out real quick, MB standard. I think they sort of teased that were going to be doing Devise Kyrios and Virtue as well, with a line in one of the promos.
>>
>>10210271
Speaking of p-bandai stuff, wonder when we'll hear news about the Chogokin DX VF-1 Angel Birds shipping.
>tfw still no TV Kakizaki
>and now I've found myself kinda just picking up Delta VFs despite knowing nothing about Delta
>and what the actual christ who the hell seriously thinks a 31S is worth as much as people are asking for!? And Bandai couldn't do a rerelease where they bundle it with the armored parts like what they did for the 1J GBP???

Sometimes I'm glad I've kept far away from picking up any of the Gundam-specific figures they do, I'd probably have lost my shit several times over trying to sate my weird autism for roster completion.

>>10218869
NTA, adding a question about hi-metal R - how big are they compared to gunpla and RD figures? And do they have any metal parts or it's just the name?
>>
>>10218874
The Macross ones are the same size as RDs or at least the VFs are, the Zentradi stuff and the Destroid Monster are much bigger. Not sure about the Dougram or Xabungle ones though but I'd assume they're around the same scale. As for metal parts then it varies from figure to figure, usually they'll have die-cast parts to strengthen areas for transformation.
>>
>>10218874
Product dimensionwise? Think HG, the major releases are small enough to be really conducive to group display in shelf.

I say major because in the realm of outliers, the HMR Monster MK II is huge in a way that actively reminds me a lot of that time Bandai did an HG for the GP03 Dendrobium Orchis, which is my go to point of reference for "mecha designs so big that you can't do them at greater than 1/100 scale unless it's a garage kit, and even then the resulting statue is going to be a living room centerpiece inevitably used and abused as a coffee table."

HMR size varies by subject matter. Pic is HMR Xabungle (1/100 scale) and Dougram (1/60) with RD Z'Gok. Most HMR have metal feet and some metal in the joints and internal structure.

Yeah I'm kinda risking an impulse buy here for reasons similar to getting the Destroid Tomahawk from Arcadia:

It's Battletech-adjacent.
I have some familiarity with Dougram the series but I'm one of those weird people who gets into mechanical design and merch depictions first before getting into the shows they hail from, too.

The series has been incredibly popular and the Aerial gunpla completely sold out which is a first I think.

>>
>>10221135
Without knowing what the parts look like in full, either its fucked as you've assessed, or maybe a screw isn't properly fitted somewhere I dunno.

But I think this one is structurally defective and in that camp of can't conceivably unfuck where I myself have filed my own anecdotal experience with Banderp quality:
>that time I bought a DX VF1A Max but one of the die cast feet-nozzles wasn't installed quite right so the two halves are misaligned and really sets my autism off beyond imagination and because it's one of the metal parts I have no fucking clue how to or if I even can unscuff it
>>
>>10219193
I would have bought for half the price, but 33k is really too much...

>>
>>10221762
Keep in mind 1/3 (or even 1/2) of that price is going to Bandai.
And Bandai might consider releasing a SMP version of that later.
>>
>>10221402
>Aerial gunpla completely sold out which is a first I think.
Not just Aerial every single G-Witch kit so far has sold out damn near instantly it's insane how well it's doing.
>>
>>10221765
Man given the prices they want for that SMP SRX I don’t even feel bad about what I paid for the sentinel one. Over $400 for a fucking model kit that still has to partsform, never mind how much of the color separation will be stickers based on what they’ve done with far less complicated designs. I wanted to get it because there is no way Bandai would make a transformation as convoluted as what sentinel did but for that price I will just wait hoping the SoC team decides to make one to spite both sentinel and the shokugan branch, that seems to be how bandai rolls.

I think I’m in for the Ialdabaoth, would like to go in on the Valefor too but that price on top of being an exclusive stings.

They're all on backorder right now at HLJ and for the first couple of weeks it was nigh impossible to find them at retail in Japan. There's a bunch of pictures of stores just filling G-Witch racks with either Guntank and Asshimar kits instead since they're both being memed on for Gundam Evolution right now or with some brand of chips called Aerial.

>>10221979
Terada teasing the Apotheosized is probably going to do more harm than good for sales of this thing. I'm extremely tempted, but knowing the objectively cooler version of one or both of them could be in the pipeline, especially since in Ialdabaoth's case it's just a few new parts, makes me wanna hold back.
At least with the Valefor exclusivity, the R-Gun was also a store exclusive, and places like BBTS and Show-Z both have a ton in stock, so I'm not worried. That being said I severely doubt Apotheosized Valefor is coming, considering it'd be triple the work an Ialdabaoth would be.

>>10221947
Yeah knowing it's smaller and the only real benefit is a waist on the R-2, slightly better (but ENTIRELY PARTSFORMED) waist on the SRX, and some effect parts, it makes the price tag of the SRX quite reasonable. Even seen alot of JP hobby twitter calling out how insanely overpriced it is.

It's a shame the Jet Core Booster is locked in with accessories you don't really need doubles of. I would of got at least 3 otherwise.
>>
>>10222235
Only reason I'm going in is this year is bereft of shit I want. TBS and Transformers are both down the fucking tubes the last year, Damashii isn't doing MS I want, and basically every other line is either too expensive for what you get or not directly pandering to me. I've been begging for genuinely good OG toys since I was in fucking grade 10, and the Riobot SRX actually delivered on what it promised. Helps that the yen is as bad as the Canadian dollar right now too. 330USD would be fucking insane but it's effectively 330CAD assuming both of those values stay the same come October.

lolno. Bandai said both G-Reco and IBO exceeded expectations. And this is provably true by the fact IBO has been getting new kits for 5 years after the show ended. The HG Sigurd released last summer. And we might still get more with a new Gundam frame and the proto-vidar being added to the mobile game, and another unnamed Gundam frame lineart being shared by the designer

So the only real bummer is that the big red rocket pod you mount to Dougram's right cheek is kinda loose fitting for me and I'm not sure how I want to go about fixing/fucking it.

Also I forgot just how hard it is to get the Tomahawk to look like it's moving, the articulation is quite limited and is best suited for firing stances rather than moving around.

New additions from this past week, today, with one more arriving tomorrow. Impulsed on a RD Eva Unit-08γ because of gifted cards/e-certs to Leafland's Amazon.

ANIME Ginn is a easy and fun figure to play around with, and tempted to get more with the cheaper prices I see it go for on Mandarake; but trying to hold off and wait and see what other GINN variants Bandai might commit to release like the OCHER Type >>10203267 that I seriously want! Though hell, what I really wanna see is Daggers...
RD Aura Battler Leprechaun was just a freebie the Ginn seller wanted to get rid of due to some cigarettes smell(not as bad as some others) and loose joints that I'm still working on.

RD SAC 2nd GIG Tachikoma I just wanted to finally get after liking the the SAC_2045 Tachikoma so much, when I'd never seen that latter's series hahaha!
Gundam Universe Leo, because I love Leos; so whenever Bandai deigns to release something for the poor MS. Will at least try and give it a chance. So >>10226847 I'll say it's okay enough... For the MSRP found in a store like Target, Walmart; but would be better at the 1-1500 Yen I've seen it go for a couple times on Mandarake.

>>10222769
Damn, if you were a fellow leaflander in or around the GTA; I'd might want to setup something. Been considering a second Jet Booster when I get mine eventually, but didn't want to bother with the MS accessories myself.

Damn, what a great engineering release. Hope they bring more of the small opening hatches to future releases.
>>
I've been having so much fun with that HMR Dougram that I went and scoured the internet for anyone still selling the 40th anniversary Roundfacer.

I mean, I could've settled for the original release, but the 40th anniversary has
A) a really snazzy box like the 40th anniversary Dougram
B) not one but TWO! Instead AFVs for even more combined arms fun!

Much with the show itself, I'm shocked the Dougram figures were even made if I had to be honest. Everything about Dougram feels like the nichest thing in the world nowadays (admittedly back when it aired, Dougram had a lot more marketable novelty going for it, but even the show proper feels like something that is either the world's slowest paced kid's show or a Saturday morning cartoon for college political science students) and I think it's reflected perfectly by how the Dougram HMR line seems to live almost entirely within Tamashii Web Exclusive land since every release is easily a potential shelf warmer product.

There's also that Real Type Dougram that releases soon and I'm trying not to blow my load here because the redesign looks snazzy as fuck.

They used to, I recall the Victory Gundams having softer antenna and also having a spare.

But it is really easy to fix soft warp part and you can't fix a broke hard plastic easily

I don't mind the decision, but damn at least make the removal easy instead having to force the part

We are not talking about old 20 USD figure but 35+ figure here.
Though they seems to fix it with the heavy gundam with even harder plastic

Bandai flip flops on this depending on product line. I really wish they gave the option of either both material types or consistently provide spares for hard antennae, but whenever they provide just floppy ones it makes me frustrated.

I would also recommend the Destiny (I just got one myself) but be warned the wristguards are annoying as sin to switch in and out, and the backpack can be a little awkward to pose due to clearance issues.

I’m too lazy to fix that image orientation but you get the picture.

The site that's the most hivemind conformist? Odd take.

M8 I swear to God my package better be taking its sweet time departing Australia only because they're making sure to bundle it with authentic Australian Drop Bears.

Australia doesn't exist m8

>we now come to you live at Sydney where locals say a large explosion has devastated the local airport
>witnesses claim to have seen a cargo worker struggling with what appears to have been a 1/100 scale toy of what appeared to be a space colony from the classic Japanese anime "Mobile Suit Gundam," moments before the explosion.
>when asked for details, one bystander replied "Oi I told that schiz cunt to cut it out with that 'space for the spacenoids' if he knew what good for 'im, but no old m8 hadta sieg those zeons."

Got my Zakus in after a two day delay. Love all the weapons the Zaku II regular release comes with.

Crikey.

At this point a RX-78 is mandatory, but which one to get..
>>
>>10235040
the original A.N.I.M.E. release had a re-issue a couple months ago so it's probably in stock at a lot of places without being a ripoff
>>
>>10235040
Get a Perfect Gundam. Then get a Perfect Zeong.
>>
>>10235052
Yeah, that seems to be the go-to right now.
>>10235092
Perfect gundam maybe, Zeong....maybe God dammit.

Find yourself a ver anime RX-78 that doesn't have the dumb random divots in the cheek armor. Why did they do that with the first one?
>>
>>10235424
Yeah, that really bugged me, too. Lots of people weren't bothered by it, but damn, didn't look at all like Gundam to me.

There's a bunch of unnecessary details on the figure, but it's really noticeable on the face.
>>
>>10235424
So...which one doesn't have that?

Fin or no fin for this Zaku?

Can anyone who has the MRD shinkiro tell me how "clean" the gold plating on yours is?

The Gundam Universe releases are soooo slooooooooooooooooow. I hope we get something from Zeta, F91 or V in the next wave.
>>
>>10238778
I was thinking about this today as well will there be another wave? If there is I think the next wave should be something like: Epyon or Wing Zero, Gouf Custom, and maybe green Zaku II all those designs were popular in the west. I would really love some Zeta stuff I wonder if it will happen I mean they did a non transforming Wing Gundam so why not Zeta it’s just that Zeta seems kind of obscure for the west I think. I bet it would sell okay people will just see cool looking Gundam
>>
What's a good pose for Chars Zaku? Need something to round out this.
>>10237059
That looks pretty good.

Full armor RX78 recently got a reissue and should still be available at most places:

Fuck Gundam.

Anyone?
>>
>>10239036
Don’t have a pic on hand but I checked mine today and didn’t see anything like what you have in the pic on my copy. Only thing I have on my Shinkiro is a little gold paint bleed onto the chrome on the left arm.

>>10239052
Do you think I should file a complaint to Mandarake? They advertised it as "unopened" but it clearly wasn't
>>
>>10238915
I wish I could to be honest with you.
>>
>>10239104
Different anon but if you got it from Mandarake I wouldn't try it.
Though, it's probably worth mentioning I treat Mandarake as purely a used goods store and am very skeptical of ever finding anything new in box from them.

Out of curiosity, ks there like a collector's window or something someone could've seen the figure through without opening the box? Such as a highly autistic original owner who would've sold it to Mandarake the moment they noticed some paint defects before even opening it?

. . . Are you on a weekly subscription plan now?
>>
Are the zegapain mecha good? Or is the clear plastic a nightmare
>>
>>10239794
It's impossible to have too many Zakus

>>10239701
Now that you have a good base of accessories with the OG release, keep an eye out for the First Releases, they're usually 1-2k cheaper.
>>
>>10239794
I just like Zakus is all, and want more.
>>10239997
I will do that, eventually I would like to branch off into GMs
>>
>>10239852
Let me guess, you randomly found out it had an RD line, saw how cheap they're going for, and temptation kicked in for you too?

Because I've been eyeing Altair ever since finding out there's an RD.
>>
>>10227460
You and I think a lot alike brother
>>
Be honest, did you get the GN arms type E?
>>
>>10240538
No but only because I have a longstanding No Gundam Please policy for figures.
I'll do gunpla, but Gundam is a money pit I can ill afford to get into. So I'll admire it from a distance while bemoaning that FMP didn't get XL booster packs for its MB line.
>>
>>10240538
I was tempted but no. I'd need literally a whole table to display it and it would probably live it's entire life in the box gathering dust.
>>
>>10240557
Hmm same

M8 this isn't a drop bear!

>not flipping the image for extra keks
I am disapointed
>>
>>10241075
Look i was already giggling when I ended up pulling it out of the box upside down as is.
Also the Delta valks are amazingly engineered fuck me I actually lost my marbles and bought a 31AX Bogue despite knowing the 31AX mold is a very temperamental one for fit and finish QC because I decided I'd just make a sort of mashed together version of Delta squadron where some of them are Kairos and some are Siegfried.
I got the J with Fold Projector but haven't done any pics with it because I can't come up with a good boom box pose that can keep the projector from sliding off though.
>>
>>10240538
If I bought this I'd just end up letting it collect dust and then reselling it.
Beautiful though, wish I had the space for it.
