ninjago, monkie kid, and moster fighters all draw on a bunch of nebulous franchises. MK = anime + journey west; ninjago = anime; monster fighters = scooby doo and monster movies. They're derivative but not "licensed"

it's not a derivative you autismo. The tropes Monster Fighters use existed way before scooby fucking doo you absolute shitheaded zoomerfag.

there is nothing about Scooby do about MH. fucking idiot zoomer.

Pros:
>Crab, fish, ghost fish, excellent parrot
>Lots of foliage, good trees
>brown bits, rocky bits, good plates, rope to moc with
>Kino campfire
>A bunch of minifig accessories
>Nice idea and good execution overall (instantly recognisable)

Cons:
>One minifig in a 40 euro set
>Hut could've been a bit bigger to accommodate a bed, chair and storage
>No volleyball
>Doesn't feel like a 40 euro build

All things considered I like it but I'm not over the moon. Makes up for its lack of size with the moc usability of what it does contain.

Wow, great line up Lego. It's almost like that the 50/50 split mandate continues to make minifigure series worse, I remember we people would complain about Lego doing genderbends of previous figures because it was last, now you would get nothing but the female figures.
>>
>>10153602
On the plus side, they barely ever put the female curves on the female CMF torsos.
It's almost as if they 50/50 mandate has negative sales impacts that they're trying to mitigate
>>

I could tell you were retarded from the rest of your post but how do you not know what women's turban looks like
>>
>>10153612
>On the plus side, they barely ever put the female curves on the female CMF torsos.
Fuck you, faggot. I want my minifigures to be sexy and have curves, if Lego is going to stop printing cleavage lines, at most they can do is print two semicircle tits and hip lines.
I don't hate the gender split because I hate women, infact I would prefer Lego to create more waifigs, but Lego gives them the same body type markings as men.
>>
>>10153621
In my defense the picture was kinda blurry, and I've never seen a woman wearing a Turban before. I hate Lego's pandering to Muslims.

Belville and Scala are the shit, man. Rather un-Lego-like yet brilliant and sufficiently Lego-esque to be fun. Though admittedly the hands on Belville figures are small enough that they can and do get easily enough lost because they're truly ball-jointed, something that many major "action figure" manufacturers are yet to replicate as of 2022.

I also enjoy Fabuland, although growing up I had only random pieces of random Fabuland sets, never even a complete set. The figures looked so weird and I was sure they weren't even Lego, so imagine my surprise when I found Lego copyrights on them!

> Clikits
I got some promo Clikits items back in the day, not sure honestly where. They're a very different type of building toy than what people usually think of when they think of Lego. Hard to say as I was never really the target audience, but I can say for sure that as an adult, the bracelets and shit are just too damn small and there's no way to work around that since they're molded single-piece chunks of plastic.

> ZNAP
Not gonna lie, I first learned of this like a year or two ago. Kinda a bit too weird, even for my tastes.

People have been complaining about lack of original space themes and even then the modern space themes lacked the focus on peaceful exploration and opted for "conflict in a box". With GE not doing well, I guess Lego is right for dropping peaceful space themes. It's either conflict for kids or recognizable star wars gray ships. AFOLs are wrong...

People talk about "soul" a lot for older vs. newer sets and I feel like a big part of it is the color distribution. Older sets weren't afraid to get a bit sporadic with it and distribute them almost at random, with individual bricks sticking out more as opposed to large swaths of the model being all one color. It gives it a sense of texture and detail, even when there is none.

Most of the YouTubers either do Twitch on the side to hoover up donations, or are just privately wealthy through other means.

It's possible to build a city on a budget, you just have to downsize it.
Also Pick a Brick walls are a good source of parts cheaper than bricklink or even PAB-online, but the issue is finding a good wall.

But yeah, it'd be cheaper to 3D print a city in most cases.
>>
>>10154909
Curious if it's due to oversupply or under demand. Retailers are primarily motivated by stock throughput so I suppose walmart cutting their margin that hard is indicitave they bought way too much inventory.
>>
>>10155122
you might be fucking yourself buy letting bricklink select parts, multiple versions or some bricks, some old some new, if you built using the old part on studio you might be inflating the price
Lego os still expensive though and whole cities are expensive as fuck

It's not rare expensive parts, just the quantity. Trying to find a couple shops that have everything I need in the quantity I'd need it means I'd have to go for one of the bigger ones with marked-up prices, or just order 20 different parts from 20 different shops and lose any savings to shipping costs
>>

>To me, a set out of the box isn’t necessarily the finished product.
This is a terrible mindset. Of course people should be encouraged to expand on sets but that doesn't mean Lego should half ass things and hide under the excuse that buyers can make it better
>>
>>10155207

(I also don't buy online because I'm scared the Amazon box somehow gives away what's inside especially since my neighbouring aunt often picks up my deliveries when I'm not home)

Which set should I buy? I'm not interested in mad expensive dust collectors and I'm obviously limited by what's in my local store. I'm thinking about the city lunar base... Thoughts?

Games Workshop managed to get this right, the designers have control over what sets get made regardless of executives, rules writers or even the people that allocate the prices requests.
Unfortunately some of the designers are retarded, or sets get bewilderingly over priced so it's not a perfect system, but Lego's approach of deciding the prices and the budget as the first step of the design is honestly kinda gay

I'm not exactly against it, considering I enjoy the consistency of what you get for that price range, instead of Lego throwing stuff to the wall and seeing if it fits. What however can go fuck itself, is when designers skimp on arm, leg and back printing to cut down on parts budget.

>>
>>10155310

What fucking consistency?
There's a huge disparity in the value between sets within the same price range and the price getting set prior to design results in stuff like wonky vs boxes for action themes or low quality or unrelated side builds eating up a lot of the price, or side builds that could have easily been a set in their own right get bundled into expensive sets.

they run X service and dont want too anymore so they look at how many people get on at what times, they find the most popular times and remove those from the schedule
then after a few months they say 'look X service isnt profitable we need to cancel the route entirely' ignoring the fact that it only became unprofitable after their fuckery, this is the same thing, actual real castle themes do sell, tranny abominations like nexo dont, pointing at nexo and saying 'well this didnt sell well so no one wants castle' is like saying 'no one wants to fuck that man in a dress pretending to be a women, therefore no one wants to fuck women'

I work in a toy store and I had the misfortune to build the motion pikachu set to put in our window. Do NOT buy it. It's so bad. The mechanism to make it move is just fucked and half the time it doesn't work. And if you do manage to make it work it "breaks" and to fix it you have to remove a bunch of pieces to access the inside. It's just terrible. Also if you make a mistake and you need to separate two pieces.. Good luck! Because the brick seperator sucks and the pieces are gripping to each other HARD. You Classicfags never fail to make me laugh with how much you can’t stop sniffing your own farts.

You cry and piss your pants because TLG isn’t being “creative enough”, but display 0 creativity yourselves. You’re incapable of building anything out of LEGO that doesn’t resemble your childhood. Nexo Knights, regardless of whether you personally consider it to be a “real” Castle theme or not, actually tried something new, but because it wasn’t EXACTLY like your childhood, it’s shit. What you really want is for them to bring back your childhood themes, something that is NEVER happening, so instead you use these convenient excuses to mask your intent.

You filibuster entire threads because someone dared to post a no-no fact or opinion. No one is allowed to discuss LEGO themes or sets that aren’t from or resemble your childhood. There are no good MOCs besides recreations of your childhood. The only good Minifigure faces are the ones from your childhood. All LEGO figures with realistic skin colors and proportions aren’t “real” LEGO figures because they’re not from your childhood.

And this is why no one likes you. Every time I make the mistake of coming here foolishly hoping that things will be different, I always see the same song and dance. You’re such bloody hypocrites that you don’t deserve the few bones that do get thrown your way. Either fuck off and make your own Classic LEGO General or just shut up already.

Are you from usa? Small hint from me, try to finish build with using your existing parts, youll probably build something like main keep and be missing around 20% of required bricks, order them, finish construction and if you will want some larger build just do extention/modify existing build. It teaches you more creative and fun ways to build, not just slap 10 of the same wall sections.

Nah man. With all the new elements available and the progress they've made in set design they should be able to make a castle theme that rivals the moc gods... but they keep doing standalone sets that are prohibitively expensive. It's not about getting the same sets, or getting an entirely new IP... it's about expanding positively on what we like about the stuff from indeed our childhoods AND keep it affordable for the childhoods of today.

Let's keep nexo as a castle theme as an example here. Nexo gave us:
> vehicles vehicles vehicles
> semi-space designs
> low adaptability to old castle themes both for individual elements and entire sets or constructions (cant expand my castle moc collection with it without killing the vibe)

What we wanted from a new castle theme:
> more army building crap (weapons, armor, mounts)
> more expansive (semi-)civilian sets a la medieval blacksmith
> more objects like potions, food items, animals, instruments.. stuff to fill the rooms
> more detailed castles that contain lots and lots of bricks
> lusty princesses, sultry barmaids and a female knight dominatrix (waifigs)

In a sense, Lego totally does know how to do these things. Lion Knights Castle, Medieval Blacksmith, Harry Potter stuff, some series minifigs... All the elements are there. In fact I'd say Lion Knights Castle shows exactly that. Theres army figs, theres civilian figs, a bakery stall, an ox cart, a beer keg, musicians with instruments, female figs... Set ideas actually just flow from these:
>Medieval Tavern with a band playing
>Brewery
>Medieval farmstead
>Medieval market (yes, I know it exists)
>Medieval blacksmith
>Medieval mining operation
>Just fucking housing
>Wizarding set with potions, books and fantasy beasts from harry potter
>Wilderness sets with ambushes, wild beast encounters, robberies, bridge crossings and even mystical sets (sword in the stone, lady of the lake, crone in the woods etc)

There is too much that can be done for it to not be done.
>>
Hey lads, I bought a lego set that I want to leave out on my desk, but I'm conscious of it picking up a lot of dust
I assume this is why display cases were invented, but are there any alternatives? When I search for display cases I just get stuff that seems priced a bit silly for what they are. I don't mind getting the cheapest possible shit just to prevent dust building
>>
>>10155158
Lego should only focus on play themes.
The 18+/Icons rebranding of Creator Expert is a shitty excuse to bring more overpriced shitty sets like the HW Express and Eifel Tower.
No clue if any of these are unpopular.

if i try and build something really fancy and impressive straight off the bat i will never finish it, if i build something basic that i can easily finish and then keep upgrading it will come out a lot better in the long run

Thats why building small/medium and adding extentions is best. Sarting with massive moc (even basic one) always gonna look unfinished/basic, but if you moc parts (keep, wall and tower with garrison, wall and tower with stable ect. You are able to have nice finished builds while you add more and more part/flavour to the growing moc.

If classic space is "exploration focused", what exactly are they exploring, and for what purpose? We never see colony ships or space mining equipment or cargo transports, just a bunch of ships that look more like starfighters than anything and some ambiguously-purposed surface rovers. Even the few bases we see seem to exist for the sole purpose of launching ships and satellites.
>What about Rock Raiders?
Technically a space theme but they don't seem to fit into the standard classic space world. All the RR vehicles are designed with open rollcages, and none of them wear spacesuits. Every single other line shows planets that require pressurized bases and air tanks to inhabit, so it wouldn't make much sense for their mining equipment to require you to stumble upon a breathable air-filled cavern system. Not like they sought one out intentionally either, the "lore" from the RR game is that they just so happened to crash land on a planet they could breathe on. If breathable atmospheres are so common that you'd base your entire space mining operation on their existence, why don't we see them in a single other space theme? Seems more likely that they're set in two separate universes/continuities. Also helps that Rock Raiders doesn't interact with any other themes in marketing/supplementary material, whereas you can find commercials that show M-Tron and Futuron together on the same planets and similar.
>>
>>10157822
The Rock Raider roll cage vehicle design would make sense even on a planet they couldn't breathe on since rollcages > glass for protection from rocks, they'd just wear space suits inside them I guess.

Ah man, would be cool to see a theme that was Futuron ships transporting Rock Raider crew and equipment. Would explain what the classic space guys were exploring and how the Rock Raiders got about in space; they're all just interstellar corpos
>>
>>10157822
I always imagined they were mapping out the Galaxy. Whenever a resource rich planet was found a civilian organization like Ice Planet 2002 or Rock Raiders would be formed to mine it for all its worth.
>>
>>10157837
Even if you do assume they'd just wear spacesuits in the vehicles, the Tunnel Transport is a helicopter and the Chrome Crusher seems to have a visible combustion engine. Both would need an atmosphere to function
>>10157840
>Ice Planet 2002
They don't mine though, just another faction that does nebulous "exploration".
They've got the big spaceship that doesn't seem to serve a purpose at all, a truck that just launches satellites, a base that just launches satellites, a snowplow, and some miscellaneous little speeders and buggies.
>>
>>10157822
>what exactly are they exploring, and for what purpose?
Everything! They go anywhere, everywhere, wherever your mind takes them. :)
>>
Thinking of making a Lego Space Mining theme, mixed from my old Mars Mission and Power Miners stuff, but a bit of other stuff thrown in plus some new bricks I am gonna have to buy, I want to give it a less eyesore color scheme than power miners and have the terrarain partially be a focus, with it mainly made out of grays, browns, and reds with the grays being the rocks, and the aliens being more on the level of medieval Europeans in terms of tech and making small castle settlements out of the rocks that the humans are mining, like 8th-11th century stuff vs the usual level of human tech in mining, is that a good idea vs regular castle shit and such?
>>
>>10157822
>Technically a space theme but they don't seem to fit into the standard classic space world.
Apart from Space Police 3 taking place in the classic Space continuity, every other Space theme takes place in it's own continuity. There's s too many contradictions for every space theme to take place in the same continuity.

I like the idea that rock raiders are actually on the same planet, but they don't need all the ice gear because of the thermal gradient as they mine down towards the mantle.

In my case the form for one side was used on both sides, and in pic related both left/right sides are present but they were swapped backwards in assembly. Something something good enough.

I think I saw something like that at the Barnes & Noble yeah, I was like 6/7 but I thought it was in poor taste

I don't understand why the galaxy explorer needs to be any larger when it's already pretty big for the features inside. It doesn't seem like the giga version even adds that much in terms of interaction or acessories. With so many pieces they could have easily made a richly detailed launch pad or dock instead.

The reason Boba Fett's Throne room only comes with one pig guard instead of two is because the Slave 1 set has a pig guard in Carbonite.

I heard that Wal Mart was cancelling the $50 Galaxy Explorer orders but mine has already been shipped for $43.

Maybe it's for people that opted for a pick-up?
>>
>>10158850
Why can't you just get it? It's not even remotely expensive. $40 for unopened.
>>
>>10158068
Shittiest star wars set, it's actually unbelievable it ever got produced.
On the brightside, expect it to be on the clearance isle at wal mart in a year or so for like $15-20, would be a good time to pick it up to sell the minifigs and keep the parts for MOC.
>>
>>10159635
At least it kind of works as a display piece, which is better than you can say about the First Order AT-ST
>>
>>10159625
Pick-up and from-store delivery orders sometimes get cancelled when a specific store is out, probably just individual stores selling out quicker than expected. I ordered mine for delivery a few days ago and got it fine
>>
>>10159583
I gotta stay realistic anon, I also have to figure out what the aliens look like besides poor, and what timeframe I wanna cut off the yellow heads at, likely gonna start small with the sets though like a little cruiser

Why are Star Wars sets so popular when most of them are just ugly gray boxes with barely any color?

I thought it was like an unmanned drone, explaining the lack of a cockpit, but it all made sense after seeing the movie.

AT-AT is $135 at Best Buy. Not the huge one mind you, but still, $35 off MSRP.
>>
>>10159956
So it's retail from before the price increase?

Because star wars is based (original Trilogy) and it's mostly zoomers who grew up with 3D Clone Wars who like this garbage.

also
>Mfw missed on Captain Phasma fig
>Sequels were so bad that Lego will most likely never revisit them unless there's some game/show/cartoon set in the sequel fan fiction
>>
>>10159961
It was $160 before the price increase
>t. Bought it off lego.com before the fakeflation hit

It's a pretty nice build, comes with a few nice figs to fill it in, but oddly also comes with a scout trooper and speeder bike (lmao what?) But there's also a nice little Luke fig that has a grapple gun play feature when you can lower him or raise him under the ATAT body with a little gear mechanism. Something the $800 huge ATAT doesn't do.

I had an old ATAT driver and old Snow trooper with backpack fig that I added in, added a First Order flame trooper, and then got a used Snow Speeder set off an ebay lot.

Oh wait. Andor is watched by adults only.
So, 500 dollars.

There's a canonical list somewhere I don't remember. All I remember is that blacks were spies, red were pilots and yellow were engineers. White might have been scientists.
