Is this an official boxset or just BBTS packing them together as a set? I don't see it listed on PSX, Showz or Bombusbee.
>>
>>10143823
I think it's the latter, or a copied template, as TFSource's listing for this has a similar description. I'd prefer not to order this from either, hoping showz picks it up.

I really want a MP size Hot Rodimus or Hot Rod to go with TransArt Arcee (assuming it ever happens, but they are doing Transmetal Tigatron) but Im pretty new to 3rd party stuff. Is the cheap KO MPs on ebay any good or is there perfect 3rd party version that would be better?

I assume you're being sarcastic. Look here. Look at all these pointy bits on the model that aren't in the concept art. Where the original design is mostly blocky details with a few sharp bits, the resulting model at a lot more sharp angles and points added. I feel like you're confusing the sketchy look of the concept art for the original designs being spikier than they actually are.

You said it was the "super spikey shit" that created the visual noise you were complaining about. Don't just blab out words if they don't mean what you actually intend to say. Instead of calling them spikey, when they are objectively less spiky than the art, say they have too many small details, or are made of too many small individual parts. Communicate properly.

I asked the other day, got a good answer, now can't find the post or archive.

I want a Gravity Builder knockoff, same size as the originals and not simplified, can anyone tell me the brand name? They're hard to find.
>>
>>10147083
Daban made the 1:1 bootleg and, yes, it's hard to find now.
>>
>>10146595
Problem with the new designs isn't that they simplified them, but that they took out the more distinct heavy machinery aesthetic and shifted them more towards the same spikey Zoids/Gundam aesthetic they gave to Predaking. It makes them stand out less as a separate team with their own identity while still feeling like they could exist in the same world. I don't think anybody expected them to be as detailed as the concept art but we all did expect them to retain the same vibe. It's a damn shame because these things gave me some Yoji Shinkawa vibes which seemed really fitting for a fresh spin on the Dinobots.

Hmm, I'm not sure. I actually liked how the initial Predaking figures looked, and then once they were painted, and especially when they were in gestalt mode, it became far too busy looking. Maybe I'll feel the same once I see these painted.

wow, neat to see someone make Drift with a decent transformation process. MMC Drift is much simpler, but definitely not fragile as long as your aren't pulling on the parts too hard.
>>
>>10147563
I'm gonna be perfectly honest here and say that I couldn't give a single fuck about the combined form A. for the reasons you already said about Predaking and B. I'm entirely over this "let's combine the Dinobots!" meme. Not one single iteration of the idea has worked or looked good yet and multiple people have tried. Not fucking every team needs to combine and the Dinobots have been fan favorites for so long without doing it. I understand the novelty if the idea but it's been done death by now and that novelty has worn off and behind confirmation it's a shit idea for them. Hell, the additional engineering and budgeting required to make it work is likely why they shifted to more "simple" aesthetics over the concept art and I don't thing the sacrifice was worth it. I'm also not looking forward to whatever OCs and drone animals they come up with to make the feet and hands respectively since I assume they'll pull similar moves as Predaking. Not gonna lie, the wolves are fucking ugly looking in both robot and alt modes and I don't expect them to do much better with whatever robots behind the feet here.

What's seriously weird about that remark is that Legacy Dragstrip has both broad shoulders and a broad chest, which are usually the bare minimum requirements for heroic proportions, but every third party figure he showed had the same barrel torso Dragstrip had in the cartoon.
If anything, the third party Dragstrips he showed had a child's proportions.

How the fuck does he have a following?
>>
>>10149347
Oh anytime old booby skullfuck can bring it up and I mean *any* time he will bring up how he thinks this toy looks like it's has the proportions of a child.

Like I don't care for the legacy stunticons, but like his complaint is just bizarre.

A normal complaint is how the poor bot is unpainted from the waist down or the usual hasbro hollow bits
>>
>>10149382
If not for the cost-saving holes, shitty plastic, bad QC, and lack of paint, though Dragstrip being a yellow blob from the waist down is a paint saving excuse you'd have to drag Hasbro's dead body to abandon, Legacy Dragstrip is a pretty good figure to represent the character.
They did design a good figure for once but sabotaged it every step up to it making it to shelves. It's baffling.
>>
>>10147917

Arms>Torso>Legs
The G2 set is about 40 less than the individual bots so if you're into that, I'd do that.

It's a Legends scale figure, they're all Micromasters.

I often wonder what a non-Legends scaled figure from Newage would be like, even Magic Square has an MP Optimus.
>>
>>10150170
Non-legends Newage would be DX9's stuff. A leaked Chinese chat even said that one of the DX9 Menasor designers got fired because he was caught moonlighting for NA.
>>
>>10150176
I've never owned anything by DX9, from the outside looking in they always seemed to be a very middling company.

Didn't DX9 have its own line of Legends scale figures? I remember they didn't make a lot of waves in general.
>>
>>10150180
Yes DX9's War-In-Pocket line, and the lead designer is known to be NA's founder. The Chinese gossip says that he left DX9 being unhappy about their owner cancelling the WIP line. The owner felt that they wouldn't be able to compete the newly-formed Magic Square, by mostly ex-UT staff (DX9 and Unique Toys was bought by the same guy early on). That's supposedly where the grudge between NA and MS come from.

I didn't mean it like that.
It's not that they are like micromasters because they are small but that they combine by attaching them to half a complete and completely separate figure.
I thought the Toyworld was ridiculous for having pants but the Newage Devastator is just the a half complete Devastator with a couple of Constructicon-shaped holes.
>>
>>10150506

>>10150503
>>10150514
Yes. for the $20-$30 it is everywhere, its incredibly worth it.

I bought mine in the summer around june. The only issue I had with mine was cleaning the flash (extra bits of plastic from where it was molded). But you dont really have to do that. I just cleaned it up because I figured for a $20, if I fucked something up, it wouldn't matter much.

TL;DR Yes, get it. Its fucking awesome and all the figures are pretty posable.
>>
>>10150514
Anon's saying that's originally DX9's Hulkie and it has been KOed by no less than 3 companies in 3 sizes all with different modifications so it depends on what you want really.

>>
>>10150576
>dont pay attention to this knob.
Get fucked. I stated facts, facts don't care about your bitch feelings. The 1:1 one is cheapest but has loose joints. The next one is slightly bigger & mostly better for the few dollars more it costs but Scavenger's scoop chest doesn't fit in right. Weijiang's is biggest & the best quality but has become rare. Swallow horse dewormer if you don't like it, closet homo.

The transformation looks kind of interesting two, with back of the robot arms forming part of jet's front vents.

I'm glad that MS is putting out Soundwave again. Don't know if I want to jump on the cassette bots, but it seems like they stuffed all the important characters into a $30 package as opposed to the shit they did last time. Guess there's no Laserbeak with the Soundwave but I'll work with the NA one.

Seeing this gives me hope for those terrible dinobots. People told them that those colors looked like shit and they switched it giving it a way better color scheme, now both the rhino and the robot mode look like they will kick your ass rather than looking like they are wearing some life saving jacket and Predaking looks badass rather than looking like he shat on his leg, even that strange yellow part in the horn is gone. The only downside is the color of the sword should have been all gold like razorclaw's axe instead of that orange that makes it look like a toy and contrasts a lot with the whole aesthetic of the figure but once the first one was out nothing you could do about it.

Now I'm really looking forward for the legends one, just hope they still change those feets for a more clawed look to match the hands rather than keeping that 2 cannon look.

The feet and hands are a nifty way of handling the ever-present combiner kibble problem, and, honestly, five-member combiners are very hard to do without compromises. Either the torso guy has to be ridiculously huge compared to the rest of the team, or the combined form has to have small thighs. Just look at TFC Ares, the Razorclaw is much larger than the other members, and the combined form's thighs are still only about half as long as the shins.

Got the Hades upgrade. Took like 3 hours to install everything, only genuinely difficult part was Killbison's disassembly since his turret really makes reaching screws difficult, and Jallguar's thighs are INCREDIBLY tight with the new joints. There are springs to upgrade the tightness of the combiner mode/Jallguar's hips, which work great. Was incredibly apprehensive as the rest of the combiner joints were all swapped from rachets to swivels, but they work. Honestly work too well. Over the years, because of really bad tolerances on the original figs, the posts that hold Jallguar and Leozack's arms into eachother in combiner mode snapped on me, and even if those were still intact, I don't think that the torso can handle the new shoulder tolerances. Like trying to rotate the shoulders causes the entire torso to pull itself apart, so you need to brace it as hard as possible. Also causes Hellbat to unpin himself since he was never stable in combined mode to begin with. Guyhawk can sorta keep himself together, but the wings just do their own thing. That all being said, the new knees and hips are perfect. Zero issues with stability, and even with the shitty integrated feet, he has no issues whatsoever hitting most any pose you want. The upgrade in that regard is fucking insane and I can't believe how much better it is.
Can't wait to get D-Zef in to put next to him now. Just insane finally having this thing work after the individual bots sitting on my shelf for so many years. Don't think I've combined him since maybe 2019?

>>10157011
Considering even with Victory Saber and Deathsaurus getting official figs, the chances of any Victory toys, let alone another Liokaiser getting made are close to zero, and you already have Hades? Yes. It would in fact be a fantastic idea and will net you a somewhat compromised but still fantastic looking combiner you can actually pose.
Playing with him on and off today, the only real issue besides the joints (which are loosening up a bit) still being too tight for my pleasure, is that the hip skirt tends to bang into the plates on the bottom of the thighs.

Different scale plus based on the renders, I assume that it's gonna be heavily partsforming.

On that note though, does anyone have the rerelease of Saurus Ryu-Oh? I've been heavily considering it to augment my Victory shelf and have heard decent things. Zero desire to try to hunt down the Pretender shells so there's that. They just look really 6/10 as individual bots.

There are so many show only characters who deserve toys. We were going go get a combining Devastator with these 3 guys and Bulkhead. Any of them would make me happy really but Sari's cynertronian form is probably the one I want the most. Then these guys. And a massive sized Lugnet.

We've already discussed that here multiple times. Liokaiser, Star Saber and Deathsaurus are often shown to be the same height, which means the Haslab releases are really closer to Legends scale and since IF combiners are around 9"~10", it'll scale good with them.

I am not a scale autist and even Victory scale is shady at best. Liokaiser balloons during his first appearance and then shrinks for his second. Like Star Saber is shown to be roughly Liokaiser's height one episode and then Victory Saber is shown to be that same size again later.
That and I just don't care for the chunky aesthetic of IF's stuff and think it clashes horribly with anything that isn't itself.
>>
>>10157258
Your shit taste is your own problem, it doesn't change the fact that there's an alternative to Hades coming out. You also better not be >>10157228 either because FPJ's Dinoking is Legends scale-ish too.
>>
>>10157258
That is true. IF makes some nice designs but they definitely have that "this is a small figure" feel just from looking at them. Not quite super-deformed but in the ballpark.
>>
>>10156807
I think Mainland China skipped Animated as well, and HK followed the Japanese release which was cut short, so you probably have to wait for a Western 3P to do Animated. The only Western 3P that is still active is MMC though.
>>
>>10157277
Insanely aggressive response for an innocuous comment there, bud. And yes I am aware of the size of the bots, just that there's literally zero chances of anyone but Hastak making a Dinoking or Monstructor, and considering there's exactly 1 mould reuse to be had there, that's insanely low, so I'll take what I can get.
I just never heard anything about it when it was coming out because everyone was reluctant to dip their toes in not knowing if the shells would get released.

>>10157347
I honestly kind of want to believe that DJW passing will ignite something in some of the designers still in the west. There's alot of love for the show, and it feels like now is the time, if there ever was one, because hastak has proved they have no intention of sticking to that aesthetic for any new animated characters.
>>
>>10157366
>ignite something in some of the designers still in the west.
Nothing much you can gain setting Western designers on fire if they don't have the connections to Chinese factories. Unless if you're talking about 3D-prints, which you can DIY.
>>
>>10157388
There's always a chance new companies can boot up if they can speak the language, or people can sell designs or ideas to MMC. As for 3d prints, didn't someone make a 3d printed Devestator component a year or two ago? Swear I remember seeing something like that.

Aaron Archer left around 2012, the rest of his crew were mostly gone by Combiner Wars, John Warden lead the Prime Wars era and was replaced by Lenny Panzica for like a year.
There's definitely shifts in sensibilities(Archer specifically didn't want to just redo G1, Warden was all for it), but the budget cuts are the biggest issue. Archer hinted at leaving due to the budgets being slashed considerably. Granted Archer also liked gimmicks. There's definitely more efficient engineering and focus on articulation these days, the toys just aren't as impressive owing to size and less paint.

>>10159647
>the definitive G1-toon fanboy

He never was, He was always one of those 80's kids who wanted a more "mature" style. Basically the cartoon with more dynamic proportions and detailing.
It really shows that Bobby is one of those adult collectors that only really came back after the Bay movies instead of before then. I don't think he ever really shook the feeling at being self conscious over toys, where as big fat nerds his same age who stuck around and have been collecting since the Web 1.0 days have no qualms about collecting toys. But Bobby spent so much time as a normie he's afraid of looking weird, which is why he postures so much and treats his collection like a model train set with dioramas and shit.
Like Bobby is the kind of person Dreamwave was made for.
>>
>>10159656
Nail on the head. Except it was the people he hangs around with that changed his mindset. He started hanging around statue and HT collectors who's collections looked like expensive collectors pieces. That's what he wants now. When his friends come over he wants "oohs" and "ahhs".

God this brings me back. I guess the new 3d printed one overrode the memories of this in my brain. Still looks fucking amazing. Sucks that the 3p scene is so driven by china nowadays that this thing has virtually zero chance to ever be made.

I will never forgive KFC for botching the first and only attempt to make a Brave character in the current 3p era. Not even a single fucking Shadowmaru or Hiryu despite both of them having multiple available toys from multiple companies to be repainted from.

who buys these clear versions? I don't get the appeal
>>
>>10160163
I said the same thing the other day
the same people that like translucent game consoles I think
>>
>>10160169
Translucent game consoles at least have the novelty of being able to see the inner workings of the console. You don't get that with TFs.
>>
>>10160190
NA uses better material
>>
>>10160187
mech toys always have the best implementation of clear plastic, it's just that transformers don't lend themselves to the look because there's never room to sculpt mechanical details.
>>
>>10159995
>>10159990
At least we got a RG Gaoigaigar and Goldymarg. Yeah it's kits, but I did RG GGG and it's great.
>>
>>10160237
But everyone hates the clear shit on mecha too. Last like 3 gunpla threads on /toy/ and /m/ were bitching about Pbandai dropping a shitton of clear kits after the con reveals. No one wants that shit, ever.
>>
>>10160163
To be fair, NA has toned down the numbers they release for clear stuff, they aren't shelfwarming anymore like their early stuff.

>>10160227
3Ps usually use polycarbonate because they don't need to worry about the BPA-spook.
>>
>>10159995
I'd be funny if they use one of the 3P Sixshots for Shadowmaru, but have it be licensed by Sunrise proper.
>>
>>10160021
I got mine from first batch, whoever put the QC sticker on the diecast hood without putting plastic underneath it can go eat a bag of dicks. Other than that my new favorite. Transformation is satisfying and we can just ignore the meme copter mode.
>>
>>10160163
I bought clear Starscream for obvious reasons but the rest? Not for me. I will say that they do look kind of neat but I would still rather have the normal/toy decos for everything. I'm not made of money and even legends class start to take up space after a while so they just aren't worth the novelty. My guess is that they're for the real die-hards with plenty of both. That or people who already have most of those characters in other scales and like to have a collection of entirely clear mini versions. Either way, the folks buying them just be the types to buy all of them, not just a few, which would explain why they find it worth the cost to keep making them.
>>
>>10160462
I hope the company didn't shut down or anything, I'm still waiting for mine
>>
>>10160386
The ones that are hated so much are the colored clear kits (every color is replaced with an equivalent clear color) because you can't make use of the clear parts, you can't really paint them to anything besides opaque, which defeats the point. Mechanical clear (full transparent outside, metallic inner frame) are fairly well liked, you can either leave the outside parts clear and paint the frame in metallics, or airbrush clear colors on the outside to make your own color scheme. A lot of veteran modelers really like mechanical clear because 90% of the time Gundam's have their skeleton covered with armor so you typically only paint the outside and ignore the inside, these kits completely inverse that.
>>
>>10161086
Also colored clear is typically put on kits that don't even have inner frames

Hello, /3pg/. I collect G1 and I don't own any third party TF's, but the Zeta seekers have really caught my attention because I can get them for roughly the same as complete vintage G1 bricks and much less than licensed MP's. How are the Zeta seekers viewed regarding quality?

What makes it better than Maketoys Downbeat?

Downbeat's been one of my favorite figures ever since he was released, despite the legs being a real pain.
>>
>>10161353
Just the way it looks. Only thing really from what I can tell is that the articulation is slightly stiffer on FT.
I plan to grab a Downbeat once FT puts theirs out actually. Hoping for a Premium grab but I might settle with the regular. Only reason why I want Downbeat is for the little extra articulation it has.
>>
>>10161367
I'd strongly recommend Downbeat, he's pretty great, even if his legs are really no fun to transform.
>>
>>10161117
They are fine quality wise - the sculpt, articulation, and hardware in them are all very dated compared to what is around now. I would suggest the deformation space seekers instead desu.
>>
>>10161367
I've got Downbeat. Trust me you won't be happy with him. The hard ratchets in his thighs makes it impossible to have him in a natural standing pose. He always seemed like a place holder for something better to come along.
>>
>>10161422
>makes it impossible to have him in a natural standing pose
Yeah that's not my goal here.
>>
>>10161339
Hole they're not stupid enough t9 be, know, or have family that are rioters then, otherwise they're going to the same organ harvesting plants they have running in their concentration camps.
>>
>>10161471
Anti-lockdown protests aren't anything new, though the recent video of them outright telling Winnie the Pooh to step down (without wearing any face coverings as an attempt to stay anonymous) is baffling though.
There was also a random western woman at the protest lol
>>10161405
Also seconding the DS seekers, especially since you can get them dirt cheap if or whenever they're on sale. My main gripe with them is the lack of unique alt faces between them.

Magnaboss and Tripredacus (Jointron) were in Beast Wars II. And if they make those versions it means we could get maracad and sombreros and guitars because Jointron was Mexican which would be amazing.

>>

>>10161996
Wait, even the Legends version is going to have gorillacock? I thought that'd be small enough it wouldn't need extra members, especially since no dogfeet or crabhands.
>>
>>10162537
It's not a bad way to make a combiner if you want all of the components to be roughly the same size. Anyway, they also have a scheme in China where you can get like 50% or something off the legends version if you buy its big counterpart, so the big monkey already hinted about the small monkey.
>>
>>10162537
It would be difficult to keep all the members the same relative size to each other and give the full Predaking similar proportions to the big version without either keeping the sixth member or adding combiner kibble pants.
>>
>>10162511
Probably based on the Legacy version.
>>
>>10162537
Proportions don't magically change when you shrink them down.
>>
>>10149418
I still wish they could have had his torso/hand parts transform into SOMETHING. It's awkward as fuck to pose them separated since there is just this disembodied torso hanging around I can't put anywhere.
>>
>>10162507
https://youtu.be/lPHcm1d2IkU
huh I never knew that, and he looks kinda cool animated as well
>>
>>10162621
If they cut out the hand and footbots, it was reasonable to assume they'd just use Razorclaw as the body as usual, since they've clearly had to alter things already.
>>
Any update on Shigeru IDW prime? It looks really good, and doesn't have the GCreation problems
>>
>>10162683
Then that would mean adding shit to Razorclaw so he could do triple duty as wings, arm, and pants. Why would they do that when they already had the gorilla? They cut out the hand and foot bots because it's nigh-impossible to do them at such a small scale. They'd basically be triple-changing minicons.
>>
>>10162683
>it was reasonable to assume they'd just use Razorclaw as the body as usual,
In what fucking world are the size of thighs and crotch comparable to removing transforming hands and feet into regular hands and feet?
You're basically asking for the Torso and Legs to do double duty at a smaller scale just because.
