I got the Scooby Doo mystery machine set as part of Gamestop's "random stuff we're selling" 50% off sale. It's a good van. Daphne & Velma have to take off their skirts to sit down & Fred;s collar is extremely difficult to get on because it's hard plastic that feels like it's almost at breaking point getting it to flex open. The little light brick uses those bright as all hell CREE bulbs & can hurt like crazy if you look at it directly when it's on. Sadly no padding in the box so it all rattles around. It was $18 which is more than fair.

It has no Scooby or Shaggy, I had to get a basic set on Amazon for them. Why didn't they use a Playmobil dog for Scooby? Him being on-model to the cartoon doesn't mesh with the rest of the line at all. If I really want a Scooby dog figure there are plenty already. It also has a sort of disco dancer /cult leader guy with a ghost sheet that clips on.

Blind bag ghosts, smaller sets, some medium sets, big haunted house, but mostly classic 70s stuff. Where's the Hex Girls? Huh, do they even have merch despite how popular they are?
>>
>local online store has some blind bags for $2 each
>buy 3 of each series they have available
>for each three in a series I opened two were doubles

Honestly ticked off

>Huh, do they even have merch despite how popular they are?
Now that you mention it, I don’t think they do. Weird considering they appear in a lot of incarnations. The “spell on you” song is playing in my head as a type this. Had there been any updates regarding the Scooby Doo line?

They have a Funko Pop 3-pack. Just like Shanate, doomed to get that & only that. Knowing WB they'd probably use the "Guess Who" model sheets if they ever did, where Thorn looks like Abby from NCIS & replaced her bat necklace with the Batman Beyond emblem.

I won't be getting most of the sets but did find the witch doctor set on Walmart for $12, which has a weirdly hot bikini Velma figure. I saw some eBay listing from Europe for a wave 2 blind bag set, which has pirate Shaggy, detective Velma & karate Daphne.

the scooby sets have been pulling me in closer and closer into the playmobil sphere. the sheer absurdity of the naruto announcement has only accentuated my curiosity in the line. do you think it could get any wilder from here? also Im interested in the dino rise series.
>>
>>10106653
We got Ghostbusters & BTTF. The GB sets are awfully expensive though & the Real GB sets are just strange- it's a cartoon color version with a vehicle no one ever used in the cartoon, yet no Ecto-2(remember that? The weird Cobra FANG clone they used one time).

Mine arrived. Fun build, the wheels fold up for flight but the flux capacitor inside is a bit disappointing, it's hollowed out so clear plastic can light it up, but it looks absent otherwise.. The top brick also wobbles in its post. You get the hook. Few stickers, the rear bumper section though is a bit hard to line up but at least these stickers are plastic so they peel off easily if you need to redo them.

The figures are okay for what they are. Odd they'd even mention "plutonium" on the box stickers but then again, Playmobil, executioner figure with chopping axe, so yeah.

Their vehicles are roughly 1:18 so you can usually find better figures to pair with them, though the only way you'll get anyone in a driver's seat is to cut it at the waist. But all I know of for BTTF are those shit ReAction figures.

Just by looking can tell the plastic is low quality. However, considering the Wild West became rare-non existing, it might be a decent replacement.

I got the 71016 Asterix bard's house.
I guess it could be a bit less expensive since the construction is quite simple with an ok amount of accessories, but I've got to say that its form factor makes it feel very large and pleasing. This house is becoming a landmark of any display you put it in. I kind of wish the tree was modular so that you could order an additional section for a ridiculous height, but yeah, it is quite impressive as is. This shit is 38cm to the top of the roof and 45cm to the top of the chimney.

The new articulated slim body skirt legs are great and I hope this build 100% replaces the static skirts.

I also got the fire superhero. The muscular chest piece sucks a bit since it just clips and hangs loosely around the neck and is only firmly held in place by the cape.
Pyralia loves the smoke and huge fire effects he comes with.

Not sure there's much point in bootlegs when Playmobil is so affordable for the most part. They've rereleased some of the old Western sets btw, on the UK site at least.
>>10126024
Oh cool, they can actually move the legs? The fixed ones had some nice designs but not being able to move them was always dumb. I wonder if the old ones can be modified to use these new parts.

Yeah, they looked articulated in the promos, but it was hard to tell for sure because the joint could be a black line.

>>10126764
I've got to be selective with money and space. I considered getting the chief's house, but I don't think I will. Just the bard's house for now. It's iconic from Asterix, it has a unique look and could also work as an eccentric man's house in other settings, and on top of that is has a relatively small footprint and it's not so expensive. I think I might get the blacksmith's too if they make it. There's a pic of the fish dealer's already somewhere, so it seems likely that they get to the blacksmith next.

>Where is the wizard from?
Some old blind bag, I don't remember which series specifically.

anyone know what cheap set i need to get a pizza?
>>
>>10134906
Ehh... hard to say, it's such a small piece that the cheapest option might be buying it from ebay or whatever. I mean, right now the official store has the 6392 pizza guy for 3 bucks and there's the spare part service if available, but if you are limited to retail I'm not sure there's a convenient Special Plus running around now or something like that.

The 70363 Scooby Doo set has a pizza
The 70336 pizzeria is a fantastic set with a great price for what it comes with...

>>
Daphne & Velma from the Mystery Machine set have removable skirts so they can sit, but bikini Velma from the Witch Doctor set has a solid skirt that won't come off. Popping the little ankle "grass" cuffs on was also a huge nightmare.... why doesn't Playmobil use softer, more flexible plastic for such parts? Those damn sure felt like they were going to crack.

>>10121105
Speaking of little clip-on parts, one of Marty's wrist cuffs was mis-molded & wouldn't clip on. Playmobil might have sent a replacement part if I requested but I just glued it in place.
>>
Finally got to pick up this sands set after wanting it for so long. It doesn't disappoint. The eye effect is really cool , whenever you haven't played with them for a few hours it takes a while for their eyes to turn, and as they slowly light up green it is really genuinely creepy, like watching a toy become zombies in real time.

Nigger jokes aside, they do this a lot whenever they want body parts with more than one major color.

>>10227124
There are several videos on youtube with preferred methods. Some do it super fast by bending the figure, others put extra care and use tools...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alKmqeGDwOk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v-KHxuW5N0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDp6zI3ai8Y
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Y8KYaO-83o
...

I personally just use the forceful bending against a blanket.

I think blind bag figures are made to be disassembled easier, but you can do it with regular ones, too. I also think some figures disassemble a bit more safely with the arms pointed forward and the head rotated to the side, so it's a good custom to put them all in that position.
>>
>>10232172
Thanks.
>>
>>10211211
This pose and angle looks nice. I find fiddling about with super articulated figures to be such a pain, the only thing I think Playmobil could maybe be better with is Imaginext style ball jointed shoulders.
>>10232172
After they started doing the blind bags they should have just used that system for every figure going forwards, it makes no sense to keep producing 2 different head types.
>>
>>10234019
>This pose and angle looks nice.
Thanks.
>I find fiddling about with super articulated figures to be such a pain
I agree, but like most things there is a learning curve. I think there is something wrong with me because I’ll fiddle with the whatever figure, take a picture, and notice a mistake, feel bad about it, but I keep doing it.
>the only thing I think Playmobil could maybe be better with is Imaginext style ball jointed shoulders.
Not sure how I feel about this.

oof, that ramen shop could be perfect for 1:18, but can its height be increased on the ground floor?
>>
I'm trying to recreate my office.

I already got the desk, shelf and some other stuff. Ordered some j.dream capsule toy for the copier and other stuff, it will probably be wrong scale but oh well.

I'm missing only the water cooler. Is there something that I could use for it? I think playmobil doesn't have one.

I found one in amazon shortly after I made the post.

That’s good. I couldn’t find on by googling. What set was it in?
>>
I went to the toy store looking for the Novelmore mammooth skeleton, but they didn't have those desert sets yet. I bought the recent Playmofriends shieldmaiden and one of those dwarves from the Knights line from some years ago.
>>
>>10245347
It's off-brand, some chinese mass produced miniature "mascot" or whatever they call these things. Search for "water dispenser miniature" in either amazon or ebay. There's another one with a shorter height.

Some sellers claim the scale is 1/12 but looking at actual pictures in hand of some reviews they look more like calico critters scale.
>>
I bought myself the Naruto figure today and I'm a little disappointed. His headband and leg holster are made of rubber. The headband is grey instead of black like in the promo pictures or the anime, and you can't attach anything to the holster. Mine also has chipped plastic in the knee, and the paint on the kunai looks damaged. I know it's a children's toy and not a collector's item, but it's more than double the price of an unlicensed playmobil figure.
>>
No more London Toy Fair reveals? Youtube has been a major disappointment.

I've also read a comment about a Chinook-ish copter and a Novelmore mech, apparently from a new catalogue, not from the fair.

The only thing I can say is enjoy yourself. Life is short and can end randomly, if you find something you enjoy and it isn’t hurting anyone, you might as well do it. Also there is nothing wrong with a hobby.

I like lots of the little things they come with, they are a pretty cheap alternative to fill your 1:18 world of trinkets and everyday objects.

I absolutely dislike the figures though and toss them away.

Anyone got experience with the current series of blind bags?

The build quality was hit or miss last time I got them on series 18 or so, I think as many as 1/3 figs had defects like the head not popping in right

>>
>>10304719
This is a pretty tough choice. The top is simple and sweet, but the bottom dragon looks WAY cooler. It also has the advantage of more figures, my problem id they’re named characters; IMO Playmobil is at its best when it’s mostly nameless nobodies doing stuff. I could do anything with the top, while only use the bottom for specifically Novelmore. I’ll go with the top.
>>
>>10304719
Top one if you want Fafnir from the Ring of the Niebelungs. Bottom if you want Smaug from The little Hobbit!

I'm glad they're releasing single figs for novelmore and ayuma now, it's way more cost efficient than having to get a set attached to a single character ie josie from ayuma who I think only came with 2 sets until now.
