THREAD QUESTION:

When making fembot toys, is there a limit to how provocative she/they should look?

They should make a Dispensor that is like a superhero/shill for the fictional HasPop soft drink company. The head would have a mask modelled on the original's head, but a humanlike mouth underneath.
Would say things like "Strength is justice! Without justice, you Autobots will never prevail!" and "You deserve a refreshing drink. As the emissary of HasPop, I grant you this!" These drinks are should as awful tasting/poisonous to Transformers, but keeps giving them to allies. They also work as ranged weapons from a can cannon. Each appearance would expand his brand without telling where these new guys are coming from. Examples would be like Dispensor II who is so similar looking he seems to be a running change, brooding antihero Dark Cola Dispensor, fun loving musician Funky Orange Dispensor, token girl Diet Cherry Dispensor, Fizzle the Dispensor Dog, and finally his greatest enemy Nemesis Dispensor. Nemesis Dispensor is also powered by soft drinks, but this mysterious red and blue warrior fights as an Autobot and has weird things like antennae and a facemask.

Just keep checking Walmart's, I'm confident he will be everywhere this Holiday.

>>10054117
I've surprisingly found him three time without trying. The first being back at the end of July on a Sunday midday. I think the issue is if you have at least a few people in your area that wants him it puts the screws down. I mean, say you have five Walmarts and they all got one case. Was it Scalpers or more the fact five+ people wanted him on top of you? It's also why I think he will start to glut. You can't army build him so once they start catching up for the Holidays everyone is getting one.

I'm a 21-y/o zoomer who never sat down to watch all of G1 (only seen the movie and a few eps), and Cosmos is one of my favorite "original" Transformers. For most normie fans I imagine it was either just the movies or TF Prime (i found that one boring desu), maybe cyberverse if they're really young Gen Z/Alpha.

Yet the original toy transformed better & looked better than this. This looks like a shit custom made from random parts that sort of transforms.

Sadly Hasbro's current designers are a bunch of hacks who churn out mediocre trash then pat themselves on their 3" dicks for "doing such a good job" & "honoring the franchise's rich history" of which they barely know shit about(of which they even admit to knowing fuck-all). Tomy doesn't give a fuck, they only worry about the 3 or 4 unique molds they make per year now. I wish Takara hadn't been killed by the brand "merger"(buyout) in Japan. We'd still have competent designers, Japan-only exclusive decos, no Bay shit... good times.

>Yet the original toy transformed better & looked better than this
The original toy literally has his face visible on top of his dragon ass. Also super stumpy robot proportions. And a "puppet rod" gimmick that doesn't work thanks to a misassembly. And a really shitty third mode.
I like BW toys and there are things the new one could have done better but this is still a net improvement.

It really isn't. MMC's is better, new age's is better. The coomer one is cool and all but its a bit of a mess engineering wise, feels more like the MoMo figures from a few years back than a transforming toy-that part seems tacked on.

Okay, so I have the purple G2 Legends Megatron that I'm using as a more modern Archforce. What Optimus Prime would make a good stand-in for G2 Sureshot? Maybe the TR Voyager Optimus Prime/Laser Optimus? I don't think they ever reused that color scheme or truck design, so it's hard to find anything even remotely close. Suggestions?

A) he and tarn are mold mates, meaning he'll become a vaguely tankish thing

>I'm a 21-y/o zoomer who never sat down to watch all of G1 (only seen the movie and a few eps), and Cosmos is one of my favorite "original" Transformers.
Been buying a lot locally off zoomers. More than once I’ve received mainline figures stickered up to look like their G1 toy. Why and how are zoomer kids into G1? I think it’s cool, it’s just strange seems these zoomies get into shit they are not old enough to have nostalgia for.
>>
>>10055637
Star Wars for nearly 15 years was held up by young kids in the late 80s and 90s loving the movies, you were likely exposed to that in your youth. A lot of shows have this power assuming they stay relevant in the cultural, which thanks to Bay's movies Transformers got a 3rd wind of relevancy which is dying again.
>>
Man, someone at Has/tak design team really loves minibots. I just got Warpath to round out my collection of the dlx minis and hes fucking awesome. i feel like more love went into the dlx minibots than practically anything else in the past few years. Theyre all fantastic
>>
>>10055649
makes sense. i would debate that its dying again though. Transformers are selling exceptionally well.
>>
>>10055592
If only they weren't so stupidly over-priced.
>>
>>10055637
It’s weird, a lot of zoomers don’t start out liking G1 designs. Usually it’s more bayverse designs or things from pre-WFC chug lines but then an issue arises; clashing aesthetics. A lot of zoomers are anal and love completion for collections for example.

For instance, I wanted to complete the 86 movie cast out of pre-WFC figures but couldn’t because FOC grimlock and wreckgar were too short and hotrod just was bad so I decided to complete the 86 cast, I’d buy newer chug figures from WFC, and that led to a rabbit hole where if I wanted to make a new collection, I got newer figures and that pretty much made me enjoy the g1 aesthetic more than anything else
>>
>>10055616
Fair enough, seems they went one of two ways with either paint or sculpt detail. The all yellow on him is a bit plain but he's got some nice sculptwork going on in robot mode.

>>
>>10055637
Those zoomers started off with UTshit and a majority have become brain-dead retards who can't accept that it was a shitty trilogy that nearly killed the franchise until Bay came in and saved it. However there's been a recent influx of them rejecting UTshit and embracing G1. Hasbro has been doing a lot of G1 updates lately and they're all very good so it's not a big surprise to see them to and aspire to be TRUE Transformer fan than be a false one.

Outta curiosity can you define what you mean by "zoomer kids" in this case specifically? Like, we talking teens, actual kids, what; "zoomer" is a bit too wide-encompassing now.
Regardless though, I mean, easy: G1's simultaneously the first (and therefore in most cases, "definitive") versions of these characters, so already if you're not attached to any particular show/universe then you might drift to G1 as you see it as the default.

On the other hand, while I can't speak for others, I occasionally get G1 figures because I am an extremely fucking desperate TF Animated fan and it's the closest goddamn thing I can get to cartoony TF toys today that wasn't Cyberverse (I'm the 21-y/o you replied to ftr) - that being said, I can imagine younger fans who got into it through Cyberverse would find G1 toys visually appealing too, maybe same for Prime fans even if they likely lean closer to Bayformers aesthetics in preference.

But yeah. Please god give us new TF Animated figures, I'm literally starving here.
>>
>>10055765
>Please god give us new TF Animated figures
Anon, we MIGHT get Prowl since we have no idea what universe w1 Prowl is. Also that vote for Hall of Fame is vote to get new TFA figure.
>>
>>10055779
I hope it's TFA Prowl, but we'll see. Honestly I'm mostly just whining because it's been so long, I'm sure Legacy will eventually do TFA sooner or later - question is if they'll mess with the designs like they did for Prime Arcee etc, I really hope not because TFA's style is a big part of the character designs' appeal.
>the vote for Hall of Fame
The vote for what now?
>>
>>10055779
>Also that vote for Hall of Fame is vote to get new TFA figure.

It's not just to create a new figure. It's to create a list of what TFA characters are "popular" and thus viable as toys.
>>
>>10055726
I held Terrorsaur in my hand yesterday and still couldn't make myself part with $17 for him. Maybe for $10.

Your schizo post does have a root of truth; trains stopped being popular in the US because cars, especially sportscars, are associated with freedom, young adulthood, speed, and sex. Cars are aspirational in that they give kids a way to feel the freedom of adulthood
Jay Leno said it best when he said car culture in the US is largely derived by how so many men's first experience with independence and sex, is in their first car.this is perhaps a bit lost on most modern TF fans who don't really care about sportscar altmodes and just want a cool robot.

Cyberverse is on its way out isn't it? and at least they transform.
Transformers has been able to support two lines on the shelf since before the movies, thats normal. Its when you have a bunch of gimmick or non transforming line when we're truly bloated.
>>
>>10056343
Transformers from 1984 were accurate die-cast versions of cars and modern ones are vague approximations of a car that only look correct from maybe one angle.

Yes, but even general opinion is that alt-modes should be secondary to the point they'll accept lesser alt-mode quality for the sake of robot modes. Even on licensed alt-modes like MPs.

If Hasbro didn't bungle the R.E.D. so badly it wouldn't be an issue.
>>

Anon its been this way for like 21 years, is it really new? Hasbro got pressure for Sideburn back in 2002.
>>

To be fair other than the 1-steps and finger puppets Earthspark doesn't look quite as bloated as Cyberverse so far

I just want to say, I love Movie Leader Brawl, and that, in my opinion, no other figure of this character has been as good as the first one
>>
>>10056427
It is a fun as fuck toy, I love the 2007 movie line because its such a nice middle ground between complex movie accuracy and Cybertron era fun but well integrated gimmicks and chunky design.

It's funny how the toys affected my mental image of him, I always think of him as quite bulky but he has a somewhat body builder like physique in the films.
>>
>>10056315
>>10056320
Bluntly put it's sales dropping. Context is flavoring to the bigger issue that people just aren't buying them in the same volume. Cosmos is the first figure this year that was any effort for most to get. That's not the norm usually.

>>10056326
>A good deal of it was irrelevant to people who collect here.
exactly, it had wide market appeal to the point you got completely different toys and decos depending on the country you were in. Now sales are so weak they are all just the same thing. No Takara only figures, Just Hasbro figures they slap a Takara sticker on.

>Plus there's the ripple effect of the pandemic economically still affecting us.
This defense is unnecessary. The claim was they are selling well, when the reality is they are selling on par with most other toys right now but they are making far less in a years time.

>>10056338
Nothing will likely beat the bloat of 2006. You could find on stores shelves the following: Masterpiece, Alternators, Universe, Cybertron, Commemorative Series/Reissue, Go-bots, Attacktix, Beast Wars 10th Anniversary, Classics, Star Wars Transformers Crossover, and Titanium series. And that was all before the films made demand explode into nuclear fire.
What do we have now? Studio Series, Legacy, Cyberverse which will get phased out by Earthspark and Buzzworthy if you want to split hairs. And again, what we have gotten all year was like a quarter of a year for 2006
>>
>>10056496
Attacktix wasn't a Transformers line, just had Transformers characters in it.
>>
>>10056499
Fair point, that tosses out R.E.D and even a quarter of Cyberverse figures as well.
>>
>>10056504
It was literally a Star Wars only game at launch.
>>
>>10056496

>Classics
>Throw away line to keep extra pegs filled for the movie coming next year
>19 figures in 3 waves in just 2006

>Legacy
>going on for two years now
>we are just starting into wave 3
>not even 12 figures coming out new for this year reaching a current total of 22
5 of those figures are re-packs from earlier lines

Quite the stark contrast
>>
>>10056496
Cybertron ended before Classics, Playskool Go-bots died in 2005. Universe by 2006 was just repacked figures in closeout/budget stores and not new decoes.

Right now there's also the BW reissues and Buzzworthy has been running for years. And you have to factor in just how many big ticket items we get per year. Like most toylines would have three Leader molds tops, 1 new Supreme, and thats it.
>>
>>10056518
hey it's not a hill I care that much about it just makes 10 lines go to 9 lines compared to the mewling 4 we have now
>>
>>10056526
Laser Prime, Mortormaster, Megaloflex are three new big tickets. Every one else is recolors.
>>
>>10056530

>>
>>10056526
Sounds like you just read a wiki and forgot stores order a good amount in a year, figures released at the end of 2005 would still be on shelves several months in 2006. I get that's hard to imagine now for how small the brand is gotten, back in 2010 them and Star Wars were overtaking shelves but now they losing shelf spade more and more each year.
>>
>>10056526
>most toylines would have three Leader molds tops,
And that was commander class size now. These thing have drastic shrunk over the years
>>
>>10056549
Anon if you're gonna count old product just sitting on the shelves, you can count places that had Earthrise and Siege product well into Kingdom. Or the Kingdom stuff thats still out during Legacy
I was there too, you weren't finding Universe in stores in 06 except maybe dingy KB toys. And if you're counting go-bots, which wasn't on the same shelves as the rest, you should count the Rescue Bots Academy stuff.

>>10056556
And yet we were getting nothing close to the Titan Class stuff we get now. And no, Commander Class can be much larger than the old Leader Class.
>>
>someone that works at Hasbro is posting here

Well I’m shocked
>>
>>10056496
We are never getting back to those days where you get waves of figures to such a level you’d be overwhelmed to try and get them all. I feel we are one bad year away from a Super7 like online system.
>>
>>10056582
Really, I find it much more overwhelming to be a completion on these lines as an adult than I did Cybertron as a kid. I had a $20-30 allowance I used to buymost of the entire Cybertron line across 2 years. I skipped some repaints but mostly had 1 mold from the entire line. Now exclusives alone make this damn near impossible.

The reprolabels definitely helps this guy reach his potential. I don't usually like their shit because it's so overpriced for what it is, but the cheap-ass stickers actually jive pretty well with Leadfoot's early '90s aura.
>>
>>10056638
Im convinced any burgers and we bitching about these figures being hard to get are 30yo ~ 40yo people that just roam stores. Even missing the initial preorders they always get relisted/restocked. Now the rest of the world Hasbro just hates any country that isn’t Asian.

so wait, looking at that the legs would have partsformed to form the trailer wheels? huh
>>
>>10056625
Nta but things seem highly based on location now. My example are blaster and perceptor, if you didn't buy them the day the hit then you didn't get them at retail atleast. This is just my experience so take it for what you will. Then again my store has two ss86 slags left so whatever
>>
>>10057440
Online is a different story, Kingdom Blaster was never hard to get there and even now the Kingdom version commands a price under $30, Preceptor has been up and in stock many times for full weekends without hassle. The only figure so far that has been hard to get was Amazon Terrorsar, he got stocked a lot but cleared out within minutes everytime, Cosmos might be joining him but it's too early to tell. Today's market is nothing like 2010 where several figures were very hard to find (Strafe, Grappel, G2 Prime, Deep Dive, Chopsaw, Lugnut, etc) because so much inventory was being made in that time frame, hell whole waves were being canceled because they were making so many Transformers. As someone who grew up in that hellscape of collecting I'll happily take this system of having everything preorder and relaxing with causal store shopping.

Can't disagree here, it's just store exclusives you gotta chase. I don't mind some toy hunting but yeah having options is nice. Couldn't say what I was doing in 2010, think that's when life went pear shaped for me, but I do recall Hasbro ruling the shelves.

Should have included that in the OP, anon. I guess we're migrating to the other thread since you forgot the rule.
>>
>>10058047
Why? It's common knowledge, we don't need a goddamn handbook in the OP. Link to previous thread and the pastebins will do.
>Actual legit thread gets nuked whilst gofag thread stays up

>>
>>10058052
>Link to previous thread and the pastebins will do.
Nope. This was preventable, you only needed to include the page limit in the OP. No concessions, Goanon.
>>
>>10058054
First off, I'm not goanon.
Secondly, adding new requirements to the new threads every five minutes is genuinely retarded and honestly I'm beginning to see why goanon has sympathizers. If you're going to scream about new threads being "not proper" but support a thread made FAR too early then you can go to hell along with him you raging faggot.

It doesn't fucking matter you retard. Another thread was in the catalog so that's the thread we're supposed to use. You're just throwing a tantrum because you want to be the one who makes the OP every time. It's fucking obnoxious and makes you worse than your boogieman ever was.
>>
>>10058232
OK, so next time goanon makes an early thread we all go to his?
>>
>>10058236
Well we certainly don't spam the catalog with 15 more fucking threads so that we can have one super speshul one. Are you genuinely retarded?
>>
>>10058236
If OP includes the paste bins and page 10 bump limit, then sure!
>>
>>10058248
don't even say that because then he'll start saying "they're not the right pastebins!" and make even more spam threads
>>
>>10058248
>If OP includes the paste bins and page 10 bump limit, then sure!
Why do we keep adding new shit to the OP? The pastebins and link to previous thread, sure. But the rest of this shit? Jesus, /3pg/ manages without them.
>>
>>10058254
3PG isn't as plagued by a exceptional individual like we are.
>>
>>10058236
Anyone that makes a 3rd TFG thread regardless of reasons is Goanon.

Every other gen handles this fine, you either just let him be nuts and talk to himself until the thread reaches the last page or you up the quality to where he can't get your attention.
>>
>>10058311
>Anyone that makes a 3rd TFG thread regardless of reasons is Goanon.
That's not how it works you dumb shit.
>>
>>10058317
>That's not how it works
Why not? All the others do this no issue.
>>
>>10058318
>Why not?
because the other generals have well adjusted guys that have either accepted their doomed fate or got a person to love them and maybe had kids too.

a lot of /tfg/ is broken in a bad way. Just enjoy the ride.
>>
>>10058318
Goanon is an individual. Calling anyone who makes you cry goanon dilutes the meaning of why we hate him.
>>
>>10058322
Adopting Goanon's behaviors makes you also someone to be hated, even if you were not originally the same person.
>>
>>10058331
Sounds like an excuse to chastise and chase away anyone who dislikes you as "a goanon".
Maybe the guy had a point about control freaks taking over generals.
>>
>>10058322
>Goanon is an individual.
Nah, he is nothing, just a behavior.
>>
>>10058335
What is it that Goanon does that is bad?
If it is the behaviors, then those should not be tolerated.
If it is simply being Goanon, then the name is useless as that person does more actions than just make new threads like do innane posts and falseflag to make threads active.
>>
>>10058343
Then why do we call him "he" or refer to him by the individual name of goanon?
>>10058346
My understanding is makes threads at bump limit, which is way too early and also is what the OP of the "Autumn Equinox" thread did. So...
>>
>>10058348
Because this board doesn't have IDs, it can't be proven that more than one person does it.
>>
>>10058346
>What is it that Goanon does that is bad?
Spams threads, gets banned, ban evades, spams more threads, then acts like he's not Goanon. Like this and this >>10057974 and this >>10058062 and this >>10058335. I'm honestly getting a kick out of it at this point, someone out there is really so angry over generals that they're devoting a shitload of time to it, and none of it stops the Transformers discussion so nothing is being accomplished.
>>
>>10058358
>spams threads
>then acts like he's not goanon
