Thread Question:
How would you update a vehicle not released yet in origins?
>>
>>10053787
Make the dragon walker hand powered instead of battery powered. Give it that cool ratchet sound like roton.
>>
>>10053787
Give the Battlebones a spring mechanism in the skull jaw, so it holds shut while weapons are in there so they won't fall out and for a "snapping jaws biting" action if you choose not to use it for storage.
>>
Attack Track needs a face.
Every other vehicle has an animal or monster face, and it makes them all seem "alive", like they've got character.
Attack Track doesn't and it's bland because of it.
Even Wind Raider has the dragon head on its front

will anyone else be grabbing a DnD Diana figure as a vintage-styled Andra? She has the studded belt and the furry boots and everything. Dare I say it looks like a 3p toy.

I honestly prefer if they do more POP that they'll have plastic hair. It makes them feel less dolllike, consitent and they if they wont use the same hair mold for everyone, more characteristic. Keep real hair for Grizzlor.
>>
>>10054102
NTA but you can't tell me that's a good figure. It's yellow for gold plastic, missing comb, ugly face, and shit articulation make it a far cry from a good toy. If this weren't named She-Ra you'd all call it shit.
>>

And the soft goods are absolute dogshit

Look at vintage She-Ra, and the soft goods actually look really nice.
Origins looks like the took left over scraps of felt and wrapped it around her.
Rooted hair wouldn't even come close to fixing Origins She-Ra problems.

Origins Stinkor, yay or nay?
I skipped him last year because I was going to hold out for a 2.0 that would hopefully have a gas mask and stuff, but lately I've been reconsidering since he's the only currently available Evil Warrior I don't at least 1 version of.
Is he underwhelming enough that I should stick to my original stance, or is he better in person that I should change my mind?
>>
>>10054556
He stinks, it's fun! He's pretty simple really so I'd say just wait till you find it for below MSRP if you aren't sure. I really doubt there will be another one any time soon. The masterverse figure is cool if you just want a figure of him.
>>
>>10054556
Considering he's a figure where all his parts are used elsewhere, and he has no other major variants, this is probably the only one we'll get

This doesn't count as a "major variant"? It's major enough thst both Classics and Masterverse included the gas mask and tanks as alternate heads
>>
>>10054441
>Does the clamp make the man or does the man make himself a champion?
In the newspaper comic, it's the latter. He's a self-made badass who claims "No one ever called me anything but Champ." So he's Champ who's using a clamp.
It's not clear whether his parents literally named him Champ or he moved to Eternos to reinvent himself and has a normal name back home, like Raenius or Marvin.
>>
>>10054614
Masterverse didn't have an extra head but the mask comes off showing a more vintage style face. Really nice way to handle it.

the way mattel is handling she-ra and the horde makes me think they have plans to establish their own iteration as part of MOTU either soon or sometime down the road. it already seems that way to me considering how all the female origins figures have had sculpted hair. the obvious next step would be to embrace her red sonja concept iteration whole hog, just to distance their iteration as much from dreamworks/amazon as possible. I wouldnt mind getting the "hobo zone" horde out of this either. It'd be interesting to see those five as proper monsters instead of ayylmaos

Sunpill me on Sun-Man. Do the rulers of the sun actually live on the sun?
>>
>>10057029
>Sunpill me on Sun-Man. Do the rulers of the sun actually live on the sun?
Vintage Sun Man and Pig Head were packed with a mini-comic like MotU figures, which explained that they lived on a world called Trefixia. Pig Head was a black ne'er-do-well (an evil prince?) whose experiments with magic turned him into a pig demon. Oddly similar to Ganon(dorf),
Space Sumo, Digitino and Bolt Man only had text bios, where they're a Chinese man, California Latino, and American Indian from literal Earth. The mini-comic with the newest Origins wave has simplified this to "Rulers of the Sun are from Trefixia."
>>
>>10057019
I thought I was the only one getting burned, didn't mind paying full MSRP for roton since it's so damn fun but if the ruler set gets me I'll be pissed. Waiting for Xmas sales to get castle greyskull since shipping will be stupid high.

>>
>>10057555
I swapped his gear with the Ultimate Warrior He-Man, Warrior's wearing the blue battle vest now and Clamp's wearing the red armbands, the warrior chestguard and the surprisingly based for Clamp red fur cape that gives Clamp a very 'darkest Africa' feel now
>>
>>10057573
I just realized if I put Warrior's knee-pads on Clamp as well that the kneepads and the chest piece both have a huge W on them. He's Wakanda-Man
>>
I sure wish stores would get rid of that fucking Revelations Skelegod. I'm real tired of seeing it. Mostly cause of the awkward shape and how no store seems to understand how to set pegs up around it to give it space so it's not hanging at an angle and falling off and knocking everything else over.

I think we're probably primed for a bunch of 200x Evil Warrior variants.
Consider:
Two Bad is the only "main" Evil Warrior that isn't released, revealed or leaked by Mexicans
If Origins continues, Mattel only has 3 ways they can go in the main line
>put out the "bottom of the barrel" Evil Warriors from 1987 (all are unpopular and require all new tooling)
>put out non-vintage Evil Warriors (either from cartoons or OCs, ie Batroses or Missile Toads)
>stick to variants of cash cows

It's Mattel, we all know what they're gonna do, so I'd say 200x Mer-Man is likely.
They'll mostly fill the retail line with variants of Beast Man, Mer-Man and Trap Jaw, drip feed those last few dregs to maybe like 1 a year, and stick all the Filmation and OC guys on Mattel Creations.
It's either that or no more Evil Warriors at retail at all

>>10057816

>Blue could be heroic Merman

Serious question, do I spend the average $25 to get the Revelation He-Man and Revelation Skeletor or the $35 or so for the Origins He-Man and Origins Skeletor? And which Skeletor is the best, the grim smile one or the onions-face skedditor one? Or do I shell out the extra $3 each and get the Battle Armor variants?
>>
>>10057856
I would go with Origins, but I don't know about the 35$ a piece for them. I didn't like the first run face, but his gaping mouth can have so many different emotions that I love it now. Did you know that Clawful had a brother named Lobstor? Lobstor was the most beloved of Clawful's friend's and family. They were inseparable.
During one fateful adventure Clawful and Lobstor got themselves into trouble when they tried entering the grounds of Castle Greyskull through the lake and moat waterway system. They got split up and Lobstor got accosted by heroes. Clawful had to stand there helplessly and watch from a distance as Warrior-Man gruesomely destroyed his most beloved brother.
Lobstor was literally and figuratively torn limb from limb, and the only part of him that exists to this day is used as the breastplate in Warrior-Man's armor set.
Imagine that, a great undersea legend like Lobstor, and now he's armor.
I think Clawful has the right to smoke a little reefer desu.

seems like 3rd party accessories would sell. world of warcraft style armor sets or whatever that you can collect piece by piece or as a complete set, different cool weapons, etc
>>
Here's where we're at so far in my universe:
Hordak, using his powers of manipulation and mind-control kidnapped Clamp Champ and mind-broke him to the point that Champ now believes he's an Original Eternian. Rebranding himself as WE-Man and creating a logo that is both reminiscent of the Horde insignia as well as the letter W, he made it his mission to exterminate those who he believes to be colonizers on his rightful soil.
Using his powers of animism, while also being given a slight boost from Hordak to amplify the spell, WE-Man was able to locate and successfully call forth Clawful from the murky depths, luring him away from his decade of self-imposed isolation after witnessing the death/murder of his brother Lobstor at the hands of Warrior-Man.
Will they convince him to join them in their plot to weaken Castle defenses and morale?
>>
>>10059249
I smoke around them when I'm playing but most everything else is in a ditch room. I use a chillum so all the extra just slowly dissapates. Well, the Sorceress obviously smartened up Warrior-Man to what they're up to with the re-emerging Clawful possibly teaming up with WE-Man and Hordak, so he's had time to prepare. Using the power of Destrucity he was able to conjure the $2.50 dollar store spirit of Dragon Energy.

According to the designers and concept art, his face is based on African witch doctor masks, which is where most of the "vampire" comes from.

>Battle Character For Storytelling Play And Display

You had me at storytelling
>>
Well shit... this was unexpected.
Hordak and Skeletor were finally able to get He-Man 2v1 and in a compromised position, while he was bathing in the Eternian Pools.
After a long and hard-fought battle He-Man was slain. Hordak was able to use invisibility tech to survive the encounter, but Skeletor was killed by He-Man, who had bested him in combat. He-Man claimed Skeletor's half of the Power Sword, and when the swords combined he used the Power Sword to mercilessly disembowel Skeletor, ending his threat once and for all.
Hordak was able to use that opportunity to fire a relatively close-range Buzz Saw, which was unavoidable and tore a hole through He-Man, killing him instantly.
Hordak, along with his Animist priest WE-Man then disintegrated the corpse of He-Man. Using WE-Man's black magic him and Hordak devised a spell that would banish He-Man to the Nightmare Realm for all eternity.
Clawful accidentally gave them a wrong ingredient during a crucial part of the spell and it backfired tremendously. Instead of sending He-Man to the Nightmare Realm, his soul instead was able to possess the body of Hordak.
Now Hordak has seen his soul become the less dominant of the two inside him and 99% of the time it's He-Man calling the shots now.
The mass explosion permanently blackened the armor, shield, and battle axe of He-Man, and after the death of He-Man the Power Sword also changed. becoming an obsidian Vengeance Sword.
Hord-Man finds himself compelled to be a paragon of goodness, despite every urge in his body,
>>
>>10060505
That looks great. The body sizes are pretty standard on the origins and other lines, I wonder if a line of different armor sets made of different materials, fantasy style weaponry, other quirky high quality accessories etc would sell?

Many people that have vintage toys don't bother with Origins (meybe just few for test or if they're the kind of people who have a full shelf of Trap Jaw or Mer-Man toys) but toys from 6th Wave are particularly elusive as they were made in the smallest quantities. I recall guy who has everything but Laser Light Skeletor. Every dead toyline has that issue with their last lines. So some people use Origins to finally plug a hole in their collection

I should probably paint my cardboard backdrop.
>>

So what happens if Skeletor manages to collect both the corrupted Power Sword from Anti-Eternia and the completed Power Sword of Eternia?
>>
Skeletor's sitting in pretty good shape here with 1.5/2 Power Swords in his possession, and of course the boys are there to celebrate with him.
Clawful's not there, he's going through a bit of a mid-molt crisis, he ran into Warrior-Man again and was forced, through the use of the power of Destrucity, to confront his inner demons. He's a little unsure right now, and is sitting more in the neutral territory in the Battle for Eternia.

I guess a quick spell in the Nightmare Realm will do Skeletor some good, maybe he can make some contacts while he's in there before he resses again.

So this guy was one of the original members of the Council of The Wise, and he sentenced a guy to an eternity wandering aimlessly in the Phantom Zone because he gave the Discs of Knowledge to Skeletor, allowing hm to become as powerful as he is?

I dont have the pic, but from what I recall its basically this.
>Mattel owns "Masters of the Universe" outright. Any characters they conceived of in house (i.e. vintage toyline characters, 200X, etc) is entirely the property of Mattel. Media wise, everything pre-filmation and post-filmation is also theirs from the mini-comics up into the latest netflix series.
>Dreamworks, having bought out the company that bought out filmation, owns "He-man" (the filmation show), "The New Adventures of He-man", and "She-ra". Elaborating further, they expressly own all of the filmation exclusive OCs in addition to the filmation iteration of She-ra, the Horde, and the space mutants.
basically meaning that in order for Mattel to use anything which originated in those shows they have to pay dreamworks a royalty. more over, they have to make clear that their iterations of characters they "share" with dreamworks (ex. the horde) are distinct from the filmation iterations. that said, I suspect that may be what's led to alot of the new eternia concepts.
>>
>>10064143
this better be the OP image for next thread. it's too great not to be. great work anon.
>>
>>10063433
I don't have a picture but generally it seems like Dreamworks owns sole rights to use POP material in tv shows, said material being both POP toy characters (Catra, Frosta) and POP cartoon characters (Scorpia, Imp) but not MOTU Horde members like Mantenna and Grizzlor with one exception of Hordak who is owned by both.

And I suppose they also own rights to MOTU cartoon characters? I'm not 100% on that one but that would explain why Trollans are always dead or off-screen because Mattel only owns toy characters, Marlena and I guess Delora? I'm not fully sure on that one because EvilSeed and Count Marzo appeared in 200X so I'm not clear who owns them.

Also I'm not clear how it works outside of TV show because Mattel is right not making POP toys in Masterverse so I'm not clear what right they have to to general Pop usage, to Filmation designs of Pop, to Pop characters...Could it be that they have right to everything but usage of those in TV shows?
>>
>>10064151
thanks. I wish I had more time to dig out a bike and shades for him to ride all cool in lol.
>>
>>10064152
>And I suppose they also own rights to MOTU cartoon characters? I'm not 100% on that one but that would explain why Trollans are always dead or off-screen because Mattel only owns toy characters
Trollans count as filmation OCs, hence Mattel cant use them. Those offhanded references are the best you'll get. Marlena and Delora likely fall into dreamworks territory too since neither had a vintage toy. Orko's prescence in the vintage line is the only thing that kept him in Mattel's hands outright. As for Marzo and Evilseed, I would hazard to guess their 200X appearances make them into two more characters that Mattel has to share with Dreamworks.
With She-ra it seems like the vintage toyline rule is still kind of present too. Clearly Mattel can still merchandise She-ra, Hordak, and Catra. It's characters like ra'azz and the rest exclusive to the cartoon they cant do squat with it seems.
>>

I live in an area with zero MOTU distribution and BBTS is one of the places I go if not available on Walmart, Target, or Amazon. It is a little more expensive, but they're reliable at least.

I recommend doing larger orders to balance out the shipping costs. It's not much of a difference in shipping cost whether you're ordering one fig or 4, at least in my experience.

What side of the country are you on?
My advice is to use bbts as a back up. I preorder everything Origins from them and if I find the figure in stores before bbts has it in stock you can cancel at no charge. Sometimes you get lucky and find what you need in stores, but if you don't its good to know it'll eventually come in from bbts.

here we have nothing but a bunch of Sun-Man, the least desirable george jefferson-looking guy they could make a figure of. He's not even a He-Man ffs
>>
>>10064222
For what its worth, I have kids who play with these Motu toys, and my 2 year old loves him. I think its the bright primary colors.
It's also kind of a cute story how the Mom created the line so her kid would see more representation back in the 80s. I respect that instead of whining she did something about it.

But I do not believe that it was necessary to have 4 different versions of Sun Man and to go deep on the line. Does anyone other than a left leaning adult look at say Diginto and say "ahhh finally. An Asian He-Man like me?" Kids just want the guy who looks like a giant bee or the Elephant who squirts water from his trunk.
>>
>>10064228
Yeah, When I was a little kid I wanted classic good vs evil heroes. I mean sun-man's cool and all, but he's not part of the 'real' group, or even part of the periphery. I feel the same was about him as I do about someone like ninjor or jitsu

well, he'll be on clearance soon enough likely. They're supposed to get a new shipment near the end of October so maybe I can grab something before they're gone. I think the guy who stocks the shelf may be a reseller. Last time I saw the merchandiser guy taking them from the box, scanning them into the sytem, and them putting them into a shopping cart instead of hanging them on the shelf.
>>
Speaking as an adult obviously, but I'd be much more interested in a black princess who fits the MotU aesthetic to go with Sun Man and Pig Head than Sun Man's boring friends.
>>
>>10064192
It sucked cause I ordered Horde Trooper when it was waiting on a restock, and the Teela 2 pack thinkin I could keep both in my box of loot til Teela came out, but they force shipped the Horde Trooper a month before Teela released, so I ended up payin 16 bucks shipping on him. Meanwhile I added Leech and Mantenna to my loot and got Teela, Zoar, and the two of them shipped for 13 bucks. Bad times.

>>10064241
>I'd be much more interested in a black princess
Imagine the gave her the proportions of Ellie the Empress and Battleground Teela's outfit.
>>10064232
I think its a matter of perspective. I got into the line later on as a kid. I had all the 87 figures new and all my main characters like Man-At-Arms and Teela came second hand and incomplete from garage sales. The weirdos no one likes like Rotar, Extendar and Clamp Champ were a natural part of Motu for me.
Anyways I am off to work now. Try to enjoy the hunt for toys rather than let it stress you out.
>>
>>10064228
I always find it kinda interesting how representation is such a big deal to some people. As a child, I was always more into the villians in MOTU because they weren't ordinary humans. I think Teela was the only actual human I personally wanted because having a female character was more important to me than having someone who "was like me". My mom was the one who would get me characters like Man At Arms and Prince Adam because she personally did not like the idea of me having "evil" toys. I wasn't even allowed to own a skeletor until a relative gave me the Battle Armor one as a birthday present.

TL;DR cool designs are better than muh representation
>>
>>10064259
>I always find it kinda interesting how representation is such a big deal to some people.
and by people I assume you mean "people" as in middle-aged old women who want their voices to be heard
>>
>>10064264
Not even just that, I guess a good example is the kid who buys a G.I. Joe and picks Roadblock over Duke because the color of his skin matches, where I would pick Stormshadow or Snake Eyes because I think they look cool.
>>
>>10064148
>Mattel owns "Masters of the Universe" outright. Any characters they conceived of in house (i.e. vintage toyline characters, 200X, etc) is entirely the property of Mattel.

I always wonder about the characters that seem like gray areas.
Lizard Man, Fang Man and *I think* Strong Arm were all from the Halperin Bible and allegedly originated as Mattel concepts...but no concept art or proto toys, so does Mattel own them? (Even if only the names and Mattel could fully redesign them for use)
And Octavia, Dylamug and Acrobad were designed by a toy designer, but toys were cancelled after they were already in the show, so does Mattel own them as long as the stick to the concept art?

Or does the fact that all of the above only appeared in cartoons basically mean Mattel "forfeited" them?
>>
for C$35 on amazon this looks like a great deal. I like that you can customize it for the eternians or the horde depending on who's in the scene
>>
>>10064201
Marlena and Delora also appeared in minicomics.
If Mattel owns and has the right to use anything from minicomics, those two and green Granamyr are also owned by Mattel.

I also wonder where Golden Books fall.
Do Mattel own Goat Man and Skelcons?
>>
>>10064274

When I was kid I usually was most interested in the weirdest characters. Beast and Nightcrawler from X-Men, Thing from Fantastic Four, Beast Boy from Teen Titans...
>>
>>10064286
I'd just look online, the sky sled is like two years old now so I doubt it's on many shelves. Getting prince Adam was my main reason for buying it.
>>
>>10064295
>They appeared in Revelation so most likely

I hope you're right, but Revelation also had Filmation Hoverbots and Pigboy from the live action movie, both of which people say Mattel doesn't own, so being in that show might not mean much
>>
>>10064299
yeah, sky sled + adam, battle cat, panthor, land shark are all cheaper and easier to buy online, but I may get lucky and find a Mer-Man, or Stinkor, or one of those other characters
>>
>>10064295
That's kinda amusing to me because one of my highschool friends who wore glasses would gravitate toward characters who wear glasses, like Mousse from Ranma 1/2, for example.

>>10064385

>>
>>10064429
it wouldn't be done well, it would be 3 seconds of torso action
>>
>>10064432
They could get around safety issues by subbing in led lights or something to light up his mouth with no actual sparks.
But again, that would require more effort than just slapping an effect piece in the box, so Mattel will go for the path of least resistance. The days of being clever and putting in effort to recreate features in a new way peaked with Mantenna and Snout Spout. It's downhill from here
>>
>>10064402

Not the best, but acceptable, he's modular vertically instead of horizontally so you can at least pop him apart and pose him like his boxart, but no springs, you do it manually
Worst case, torso is an armor piece over standard buck like Classics because "fuck you, no one likes Blast-Attak anyway, who cares?"

all of these are firmly in mattel's camp for different reasons. in the case of goat man it's because they drew concept art for him in house. as for green granamyr, skelcons, and the rest of the golden book exclusive characters they all fall under mattel's umbrella because matty always retained the rights to the comics and related literature.

they probably fall into shared territory if I had to guess. Im unsure honestly
>Octavia, Dylamug and Acrobad were designed by a toy designer, but toys were cancelled after they were already in the show, so does Mattel own them as long as the stick to the concept art?
yes, just by presenting the concepts Mattel can pretty much affirm ownership over them aslong as they stick to their concept designs. Part of the reason this topic entertains me so much is pondering the weird shit it could lead to considering everything filmation dreamworks now owns. I cant help but daydream about a new She-ra series in the vein of "Spiderman Unlimited", where in so many characters were prevented from being used in the show you ended up with alot of odd and specific choices being made for legal reasons. Imagine for a moment a series along the lines of "She-ra and the Galactic Guardians", where in She-ra defends Etheria from the Horde's "Evil Mutants".

And? Snake Eyes was super popular exactly because he looked cool, and I'm sure he was the favourite of many a black kid who also thought it was pretty cool that there was a black guy on the team even if Roadblock wasn't their favourite. You're maybe being a little, er, black and white in your outlook when the subject's more nuanced than that.

The thing about representation is if it doesnt matter to you thats totally fine but it does to some ppl

For me I think it makes the cast way more interesting having a bunch of different genders/races/etc rather than a copy paste of the same straight buff white guy over and over. It just makes the line up of characters feel more varied and distinct for me. I know MotU is pretty good about representation, so is Transformers, but a lot of other stuff hasnt been great about it. Still its totally ok if its something you dont really care about but it might matter to other ppl.

Hell I know someone who didnt care at all about Transformers until I told them it had a nonbinary character (Acid Storm) and they decided to check it out and theyre a huge fan now. They dont care about Acid Storm much now but it was what got them to look into it.

I think representation is never a bad thing in any way (other than when its harmful or bad in some way then yeah ofc it sucks) and I think most ppl dont mind or care much. If anything I think the biggest manbaby weirdos are the ones who get mad about any non white, non cis, no straight, etc character being added as if its the apocalypse or something. Like He-Man is still there who cares lol
>>
>>10066139
>rather than a copy paste of the same straight buff white guy over and over.
that's why there's supposed to be nuance with the characters, it's not just a visual thing there has to be a character that you care about.
I know I'm beating a dead horse with the Sun-Man thing, there's no character or nothing to make him stand out or make you care about him, other than the fact that his "magical melanin skin gave him unequaled, unlimited, and special super strength."
His entire gimmick is what? that some militant mom made him to represent her son? I love that he fights against the thinly veiled honky pig-head who is introducing drugs to his neighborhood, his highlights are pink, to remind you what he represents.
>>
>>10066171
I think sunman just needs some lore or comic or anything really. I dont really know anything about him. I think his design is cool with the giant wings and stuff but I wish i liked him more so Im hoping they give some kind of lore or story for him eventually cause I dont know what his lore even is really if there is any

Still think hes cool and Im glad to have him
>>
>>10066181
he flies and he's the king of the sun and his black skin gives him endless unlimited power, but his big battle is against the local drug pusher Pig-Man who's trying to beat him by 'smoking him out' and turning him into an addict? I get it, crack is wack and I'm sure there was a lot of temptation for her son at the time.
>>
>>10066016
I saw a post where someone got two 200x He-Mans
>>
>>10066226

>>
>>10066139
I think it becomes a bad thing when you ONLY care about something for "muh representation" and disparage things that don't like you're some kinda narcissist who can't relate to a character if it doesn't share your identifiers.

For example if one was the type who hated "forced romance" plots because they are "unnecessary" but then the minute it happens to be a homosexual relationship then it's suddenly "yes! This is important!"

So, tonight marked the start of a new Arena season. The first match of the season was unironically what will be seen as one of the biggest match-ups of the 2v2 bracket for the entire season:
Team 1 - "The Power of Chaos" (He-Man and Warrior-Man) VS Team 2 - "Dark Venom" (Skeletor and Anti-He-Man) [The lame pvp team names are a deliberate choice based on most video game pvp teams giving themselves dumb names]
It was an interesting match.
- Out of the gate Skeletor CC'd He-Man locking him into a Spectral Force Cage while Anti-He-Man focused on Warrior-Man.
- Skeletor attempted to banish He-Man to the Negative Zone at the end of the Spectral Force Cage, but He-Man used his Power Sword to interrupt. Meanwhile Anti-He-Man kept wearing down Warrior-Man who was clearly outclassed.
- Skeletor unexpectedly switched to attacking Warrior-Man and a combination of Skeletor's magic and Anti-He-Man's attacks was able to finish him off while He-Man was basically just helplessly watching.
- The second 2v1 phase is where it got interesting. Skeletor was overconfident and ordered Anti-He-Man to stay back and watch while he destroyed He-Man. He-Man was of course able to capitalize on it and he easily disarmed Skeletor, claiming Skeletor's half of the Power Sword for himself. For context, never before has the Power Sword been united this early, let alone in the very first match of the season, so this could be a serious game changer.
- At the sight of He-Man wielding the completed Power Sword Skeletor used a pyramid teleportation spell to take himself out of bounds, removing himself from competition this round.
>>
>>10066289
Phase 3
- The third phase starts out with a relatively fresh Anti-He-Man who used his downtime wisely to heal and buff himself in preparation vs a fired-up He-Man wielding a completed Power Sword.
- Anti-He-Man, emboldened, uses an Intimidation shout without knowing that He-Man is immune, During that time He-Man invokes the Spirit of Grayskull, charging the Power Sword with divine energy.
- One blast later and Anti-He-Man is sent to the Phantom Realm to wait out his ress timer.
The winners of the very first match of the new 2v2 PvP season is the team of "The Power of Chaos"! Congrats go out them.

>Complaining about lack of characterization
>In a toyline that was all about SHOVE NEW THING in front of kids and praying they'd buy if you attached a little bit of flavor to them.

Most of the MotU brand is built off cardboard cutouts of personality of 'Good' or 'Bad' when it comes to the initial toy offering. It's up to writers after that fact that's given any kind of 'nuance' to "Neck grows 3 sizes that day" man or "Mosquitor in reverse". Just face it, you feel like this design doesn't hit you for
>whatever reason
and are threatened that it might take slots away from other figures you want more. Pig-Head's a fairly unique design for a non-gimmick character, and the 80s-90s were chock full of "Winners Don't Do Drugs" messaging, D.A.R.E. and Scruff McGruff coming to mind. Suck it up and enjoy the rest of the line and quit pretending that there's some great majesty that's ruined when you're dealing with a toyline that used the 'Long Lost Sister' gag along with a bunch of others to pull in more buyers.

Winners don't do /pol/ logic.

Match two of the new 2v2 Arena season is:
Team 3 - "Clawful Evil" (Clawful and Evil-Lyn) vs Team 4 - "2ThaHorde" (Hordak and WE-Man)
- This was basically nothing but Evil-Lyn and Hordak using different methods of CC to control both Clawful and WE-Man, while they also tried repeatedly using their magic against each other, which they both were also able to easily dispel and interrupt.
- Hordak, using a surprise Buzz Saw attack was able to tear through Clawful and leave him a gooey mess. Evil-Lyn, in retaliation, straight-out banished WE-Man to the Phantom Zone, removing him from combat and forcing him to join Clawful is sitting out the long ress timer.
- Hordak vs Evil-Lyn 1v1 is a pretty close match-up when it comes to magical ability and spell power, but Hordak's merging of technology with sorcery gives him the upper hand this match and he eventually is able to wear down Evil-Lyn. Hordak, having spent most of his magical energy as well was then able to rely on his technology to prop him up and secure the win, finishing Evil-Lyn with a Heart-Seeking Arrow fired from his Horde Crossbow.
Winner of the second round is the team of "2ThaHorde"! Congrats to them!
Current Standings
1.) "The Power of Chaos" - He-Man/Warrior-Man (1-0-0)
2.) "2ThaHorde" - Hordak/We-Man (1-0-0)
3.) "Dark Venom" - Skeletor/Anti-He-Man (0-1-0)
4.) "Clawful Evil" - Evil-Lyn/Clawful (0-1-0)
5.) "The Sting of Spring" - Buzz Off/Ram-Man (0-0-0)

Bruh, you're the one harping on about Sun Man like he's pissed in your Wheaties. He's a harmless addition that does nothing to ruin the line for his 'lack of character'. I generally agree but...and I have multiple "buts"

For example I don't want every diverse character to role model with even villains being "empowering". Make their roles "diverse" as well. Make them assholes, losers, idiots, conmen. For every white straight men that is a badass hero is cast is full of white straight men that get less diginified jobs. Some exist to be punchline. Some to be hated. Some die in first 2 minutes. Some are smart and powerful but their hubris and ego will ruin them as they fuck up something fierce.

I don't like how everything diverse, show, ship or character becomes critic-proof because clearly you're just a bigot.

IMO personally I don't like when people talk something like "watch this show, it's incredibly gay" because in the end, representation isn't the same thing as quality. I suppose it's a good viewing factor to some in the same way dragons or robots are but it's not the same as good humor or memorable characters or beautiful animation.

Also, I have a mindset "I'd let my grandma play Batman if she was a really convincing Batman" so Im fine with diverse casting but only as long as I believe they were picked because they were best for the job not to fill diversity quota.

I agree. Once He-Man has the completed Power Sword in his inventory the season's basically over. It's never happened in the first match of the season before so this could be nuts.
With a completed Power Sword the team tactics change entirely. Controlling and stopping He-Man becomes the immediate #1 priority because if he's allowed to invoke the Spirit of Grayskull and empower the Power Sword this it's essentially match over. One Power Blast can wipe out an entire opposing team.

As a toy, he's awful. But as a character, I find him a lot more enjoyable. I rank him above Orko and I use him as my default scientist over MAA, who I use as solely a weaponsmith.
In my worldview, Gwildor would have to be the guy who designed Roboto, MAA just outfitted him with his attachable weapons.
Same with vehicles...I kinda go with Mekaneck/mechanic so he built Bashasaurus, but MAA designed the big smashing mace mechanism for it.

We've got 4 mc exclusive figures this year, 2 are deep cuts but 2 are major members of factions. I could see the last wave or so going direct to consumer as the line winds down. Mc is the only way I can see my origin despara happening at all.
>>
>>10066313
Are you saying black people cant sell drugs?
>>
You know, I'd be kind of down for entire MC exclusive waves, just to ensure we get all the guys I want before line cancellation

Not as a replacement for retail waves, but running parallel to it with figures less likely to be retail or that might not have as much appeal for most of the fandom
Like, 1st quarter retail wave could be the first wave of Snake Men, and 1st quarter MC wave could be a wave of 4 Filmation OC guys, just for an example.
>>
>>10066373
Im still glad Double Trouble in the she-ra reboot was fucked up and a snake even if they were nonbinary rather than having some kind of episode to redeem them

on that note double trouble works way better as a villain and i didnt even realize they were a good character in the original toyline till recently
>>
It will be funny if some characters get variant but never a proper version, like White Sorceress from Grayskull or Grizzlor and Troopers from Horde 4-pack. Say if Fright Fighter was packed with color reversed Two-Bad and line got cancelled before we got a proper one.
>>
Ive checked math. In year we get about 12 vintages (2 Deluxes with 2 guys each and 4 waves with 2 guys each) That's 24 guys in 2 years. Not counting Preternian giants there are exactly 24 vintages left after first Rise of Snake Men wave (including Deluxe Hiss and Thunder)

That leaves 5 Sun People and whole 11 more free spots for more characters and variants in all those Waves. And then there are of course all other exclusives or multi-packs and other releases that would likely include Giants and Modulok and Multi-Bot.

In short, 2 years easily wrap vintage unless Mattel comes up with new idiotic decision of reducing us to one vintage per Wave. And we could easily keep going from there with Filmation OCs, POP, NA, brand new characters, etc, but let's face it, Mattel will probably sabotage this line too heavily to keep it going by then.

I remember floating that idea earlier, about the Zone of Neutrality, but I don't think that would be the case in the Meverse line.
The Spirit of Grayskull is always in sight of the Great Eye of the Galaxy, so it is always imbued with Light and Power. The Spirit of Hellskull meanwhile is cut off from the source so it only has the Power that it can generate/leech from Anti-Eternia and its inhabitants, as well as the power it has from consuming the life-forces of vanquished foes and lands.
>>
>>10067223
I've autistically done that too.
>New for 2020 = 6 Heroes, 5 villains, 11 vintage total
>New for 2021 = 7 Heroes, 10 villains, 17 vintage total
>New for 2022 = 5 Heroes, 8 villains, 13 vintage total

It's not consistent, and we can't assume all deluxes will always be vintage or that every wave will have more than 1 vintage
So far for "New for 2023" they've revealed or leaked only 2 Heroes and 6 villains (that'll likely go to 7 because we haven't heard about Snake Face yet or maybe even 8 if we get a vintage Skeletor variant). Possibly 10 vintage guys total, that's almost at "quota". Maybe 1 or 2 additional Heroes besides TP He-Man and Mekaneck.
Mattel won't finish vintage in 2024 by my guessing, and since I don't expect Origins to last more than another year, year and a half tops, we aren't finishing vintage at all.
We'll probably still get some cool shit along the way like 200x variants and some more filmation guys to go with Kol Darr, but I'd prime myself for disappointment if you require thrm to recreate vintage like Classics did. Someone's gonna end up left out. Most likely the Energy Zoids and movie guys and probably Multi-Bot just because we don't even have Modulok yet and I can't see those two released in close proximity

I feel bad for Energy Zoids. So much work was put into them, so many accessories, they even planned vehicle around them and they're easily the most forgotten vintage characters.

it says it's a toys r us exclusive and with shipping and tax it comes out to almost $90. Cheaper to spend $20 on an unflocked Panthor and another $10-$15 on the supplies needed to flock it yourself.

Nothing about that cat is $90 worth of anything, I'd be patient and wait for an Xmas sale if that's an option. I'm finally starting to see the masterverse battle cat get the yellow clearance stickers, still gonna hold tight and wait skme more. Idk what you guys think, but for me roton is the best vehicle yet. Looks cool like landshark but is more fun to actually push around and mow figures over with. Plus it's just funny to scare the cats with.

I think they just had the bad luck of poor timing. Coming in at the end of the line when fans were tuning out, production was getting cut back making them figures with lower numbers produced. I think they were literally the last two new figures that actually hit shelves? Even latecomers like Blast Attak, Mosquitor and Saurod still managed to be out in time to squeeze in a couple magazine and comic appearances. The Zoids were too late even for that.
They'd probably be more fondly remembered if they had come out a year or two earlier in the lines life, when production numbers were higher and they could have gotten some tie in media

>When I was kid I usually was most interested in the weirdest characters. Beast and Nightcrawler from X-Men, Thing from Fantastic Four, Beast Boy from Teen Titans...
Good taste, the least human looking member of the team was always my favourites as well.

I just started with all this so all I've seen are the same handful of characters at my local Wal-Mart, no vehicles or playsets.

Every movie released in that last 21 years.

I hate it when this happens, its already annoying that most companies make the pound and dollar prices 1:1 without converting it but sometimes they make it more expensive over here.

Well I hope you enjoy the toys, pretty fun stuff. I started back collecting toys around the strat of origins due to the WWE cross over stuff and it's been a fairly fun trip. What do have? What are you looking for?

The newspaper comic ran from 1986 until the New Adventures cartoon wrapped up in December of 1990 and never used the Energy Zoids.
Writer Chris Webber did a Snake Men arc (w/ Rio Blast cameo), then a Ninjor/Scare Glow/Blast Attak one (with a cameo by Extendar, lamely not using his powers), then Mosquitor and PoG dinosaurs, one for the movie characters, then one for Clamp Champ. He proceeded to stop adding new characters until the NA cartoon started.

I've only got a few, My local Wal-Mart had a bunch on deep clearance so I lucked out that way.
This is what I have so far >>10066303. I'm looking for a bunch still, most I may never get because of rarity or high price, but I'd like King Randor, Prince Adam, Fisto, Man At Arms, Man-E-Faces, Merman, Beast Man, Orko, pretty much everybody I don't have. Plus the vehicles and mounts, etc. I think I know where to get an original Snake Mountain and original Castle Grayskull, though they'd essentially be shells (which is fine, I can build interior set myself), and the Grayskull is probably missing the door.
