Hello I noticed there wasn't a beyblade general and so here one is!

Any combos you like?
Any combos you hate?
Heading to any tournaments soon?

Looking for beys but don't want them from ebay?
beysandbricks.com and malloftoys.com are both pretty reputable!

>Looking for beys but don't want them from ebay?
beysandbricks.com and malloftoys.com are both pretty reputable!

Its been common knowledge for a whie that Beysandbricks have been selling midfakes and labeling them as takara , going to order some of the seperate parts soon to see if their authentic and the launchers for mfb
>>
>>10050693
Are Beyblade competitions still a thing? I know they use to be but my knowledge isn’t very complete?
>>
Where do I get started this?
I always ignored the cartoon and this stuff.
I thought it looked kind of gimmicky but watching some videos it seems there is a lot of customization and stuff to it.
I kinda want to introduce it to some younger kids in my family too, they are at that age where they are watching kids robot and dinosaur series on youtube kids
Youtube kids is hot trash, I'd rather they check this stuff out.
>>
I got drunk and bought the hello kitty beyblade.
>>
>>10052341
BaB have gotten slightly better about the Midfake MF era beys. They still feel like a scam site, the L/R launcher I bought from them broke after a week of mild use. I haven't used them for any Burst era beys, because I'm not the biggest fan of them, but I've heard they are legit with those.

>>10052721
There aren't as many as there used to be, but WBO still hosts tournaments.

>>10053022
I'd recommend just grabbing some cheap hasbro burst beys that come with a stadium. If they like those then go from there. The pro series is not compatible with the other hasbro releases so, pick one and stick with it.

why did they never give you a different bit beast sticker for the second bit chip?
>>
>>10053093
The forge disks and performance tips are compatible which was great to find out once I got harmony Pegasus
>>
I've been on an MFB kick, lately, and I have been using that energy to try and continue my plan of recreating the Bladebreakers' beys in MFB form. Since Garudas and Byakko were never released, I had to cancel Driger, and swap Garudas with Phoenic. Draciel's pretty much complete, though.
>>
I recently started getting back into Beyblades, can someone explain why there's such a HUGE difference in quality between Hasbro and TT beys? The Hasbro ones feel like cheap Chinese knockoffs in comparison, they're all hollowed out (to the point of being, like, half the weight of TT beys) and lacking any form of gimmicks/moving parts or completely ignoring the limit break systems. Why would anyone ever buy Hasbro beyblades over TT beys?
>>
>>10057760
It's literally Hasbro being scumbags.
>>
>>10057760
>why there's such a HUGE difference in quality between Hasbro and TT beys
To be able to sell them for significantly cheaper, Hasbro beys are half the price of TT beys
>Why would anyone ever buy Hasbro beyblades over TT beys?
The primary buyer of Hasbro beys are American parents, and they're very price sensitive
It's a difference of philosophy between Americans and Japanese
American parents would rather get 10 shitty, disposable toys for their kid instead of 1 good one
>>
Did any of you catch the CEOtaku Beyblade tournament live? I tuned in for Guilty Gear but somehow totally missed this until a commentator offhandedly mentioned it.

I'm still waiting for the burst gen to end. I'm ready for a new gimmick. Its been nearly 8 years already. This is easily the longest gen. I never liked the burst gimmick, and I never will. Also I think the art style of the burst bey blades is overly designed and ugly looking.

I don't think it was user error because I always followed instructions perfectly and the launchers always felt like they couldn't support the weight of the beywheel

My god, why are modern Beyblades ugly as sin? The overuse of transparent plastic is incredibly gaudy, and they all look like they have the texture of chewed up gum. I guess this garbage looks fucking amazing to little children, but I assume anyone with taste agrees that they look like crap. Call me a nostalgiafag I guess, because the only good looking modern Beyblades are the few that are remakes of the original generation.

It's not an issue with transparent plastic or bright colors, it's an issue of visual noise. Highly detailed sculpts with lots of different colors become visually incomprehensible unless you really look closely. The ones that work are the ones that tend to highlight a few details and use relatively limited colors. Older beyblades had simpler designs and fewer colors and as such those designs and colors stood out instead of blending together. It's kind of like comparing any final fantasy character to the ones from team fortress 2. Those TF2 characters are instantly recognizable whereas a lot of the final fantasy ones are kind of just a mess.

Its only success is being extremely cheap to produce toys.

The visual designs are objectively bad. The gimmick is objectively bad. But since most parts are made of only one or two peices, they're very cheap to mass produce. A large portion of the community is bored with this theme. But, because they're cheap and the target audience is little kids who don't care, they're just going to keep running with this theme until Takara moves on to something else. Luckily they announced the manga will end in 2023. So hopefully the gen will end a year afterthat.

Just get one of these, its the og stadium, and is designed to not favor any one type, but a good player can use this stadium to their advantage by leaning their blade's build to an extreme, rather than a blend, super stamina, super defence, or super attack, are all strong on this stadium, but blades that try to balance two or more types won't be as strong.

They need to fully release the dub OST, not just the songs.
MFB and Burst's soundtrack too.

The og soundtrack has no right to be such a banger. It really sets g1 apart from the others, it makes it give it the save vibe as like a skateboard anime would, with the punk rock and atmosphere. Sure they cut some of the story stuff for the dub version, but the soundtrack is easily better than anything that came out after. Its clear that the first season was a passion project, not just a toy commecial like the later seasons and generations after it.

You coukd reverse the spin of literally any beyblade you wanted, opening up literally double the possible combinations of your build a d game strategy, which is straight up missing in MF and Burst.

>>10089106
A thing later Gens do better is naming-conventions for Beyblade parts/combinations.
Storm Pegasis 105RF: (10.5mm, Rubber Flat).
I remember most of the part names for MFB. It's a crapshoot for Gen 1
The left is Dragoon Storm:
Storm Attacker (AR) 8 Heavy (WD), Neo Left Spin Gear(SG), Storm Grip Base( BB).
>>
>>10089113

>Did anything other then Dragoon have a Left spin-gear?

There were actually a lot, but its hard to name which without just looking up a list somewhere.

>its funny how every gen after makes a big deal of left rotation.

This is because in competitive plastic gen, people were building something called a zombie build. They would use as many circular and free spinning parts to reduce their friction as much as possible, and would intentionally weak launch, so with contact, they would steal spin from their opponant and even reverse their spin on some occasions. Also many attack rings were much more devistating, even down right dangerous, if spun in one direction over another. And you can see how this influanced the later generations.

You'll notice that none of MF and none of Burst have any prominant leading edges on their attack rings. They have some texture and have designs that imply agression, but its all very smoothed over, this is to make the contact as uneventful as possible, so the beyblades don't go flying out of the arena. Even moreso now since all modern burst arenas are now fully enclosed to catch any stray parts. If you look at plastic gen beyblades, they were out for blood. Attack types had radically jagged designs with tips intended to strike as hard as they could, to catch something on the opponant, and kick them out of the arena with force. Mut modern attack types all have this swooped design that doesn't hit as much as it tries to get under and scoop the opponant up and into the air, but with a minimized leading edge, as to not cause the violent imacts that send beyblades across the room.

At least this one has the Mode-Change gimmick and RSF. Blitz has a great design.

>>10095279
It was apart of a side gimmick called "Spar FX", which basically amounted to "ugly neon colors". My guess is that Hasbro thought they could extort bladers by forcing them to buy the Hyperblades along with their PTS versions in order to have the original version; and even then, they fucked that up.
>>
>>10095395
That probably is the reason. Like how they release inferior Beyblade Burst products. Then they "listen to the fans", with the pro-series. "Authentic Japanese Tops " = Takara Tomy molds, with cheaper materials. They need to lose the brand license.

Hasbro would bring back the hyperblades for Legends, with their correct colors, but Fang Leone and Death Quetzalcoatl were the only missing ones to make into this series.
>>
>>10095405
That's weird I wonder why. Death Quetzalcoatl would've been nice, for more RDF's.
>>
It's too late for me boys. On my tenth DB beyblade purchase and I'm already thinking about the next. Going to round things out with Vanish Fafnir, the upcoming Burst/Ultimate Spriggan and Valkyrie set, then maybe I'll consider Zest Achilles for A gear but honestly it doesn't look all that good to me compared to previous Achilles beys.
>>
>>10095695
That's a lot of damage to your wallet. Why did they have to give Ultimate Valkyrie, Accel and not ULTIMATE Reboot'.
>>
You know what I think is funny? OG Spin Dragoon could probably beat a majority of burst blades pretty easily.

>Maybe I should check out this new beyblade general
>People unironically call them beys now

Guess I'm old because I hate that. "Beyblade" doesn't take enough effort to say to warrant shortening to just "bey", and it sounds pretty dumb. Also I don't think I like the way the current beyblades look so I guess I won't be getting back into the hobby sadly. Have fun, and stop calling them "beys".

I have not played with Beyblades since a decade ago.
Went looking at the local scene and shit was REALLY complex.
Everyone needed to have 4 or 5 beys with non repeating parts to enter the local tournaments.
Anyone has reccomendations what I should grab off the shelves to get started?
>>
>>10096419
Weight isn't the only factor. I have a spin dragoon, and a fair few burst blades, and when I can launch into a good flower pattern, it fairly often wins via bursting the burst blades. Otherwise, it still tends to out spin them, since its so light, it can spin for several minutes on when you get a really good launch.
>>
>>10096421
>and stop calling them "beys".

The anime calls them "beys".
>>
>>10096622
>it still tends to out spin them, since its so light,
that's not how moment of inertia works, Lighter Beyblade have less mass. So it would conserve less angular momentum.
>>
>>10096606
the "official" rules are so far up their own ass its stupid, also, if you decide to have any kind of cash prize, or pay to play (like 1$ to enter the tournament kind of thing), so the winner can have a cash prize, WBO have decided that you need to give them some money too.

Organize your own tournaments with your own rules.

These are the rules I use when hosting events.

1. Each player must bring at least 1 complete beyblade.

2. Games are best of 3 rounds.

3. Anything goes as long as all parts are official takara or hasbro.

Thats it.
>>
>>10096747
I retract my statement. Bistool is even better. It stands undefeated in my collection.
>>
Why didn't Bdaman, catch on like Beyblade.
>>
>>10097518
because literally anyone can catch onto the rules of beyblade jsut by watching someone play it, but bdaman was kinda complicated, and they advertized it to an audience a little too young for it. If it was aimed for a more teen group, I think it would have done better, but they were aiming for the same young age group as beyblade, but also, beyblade is just spinning tops, and literally everyone loves a good spinning top toy.
>>
>>10097565
>bdaman was kinda complicated
I remember it being various marble games, testing accuracy, power, control, and rapid. The history of Bdaman is weird with it starting as licensed Bomberman tie-in. I remember watching The Battle Bdaman anime where they attempted to make it more like Beyblade with "Direct Hit Battle".

No. Hasbro did use the Crossfire branding when they adapted "Cross Fight B-daman". The two series are unrelated, Bdaman is more like Beyblade. Customizable figures, with multiple parts and stats. Crossfire was just a board game, like "Battling Tops".
>>
>>10097565
The rules were complicated because the idea was that you could make up your own games with them.

Looking to replace the fucked up stickers on my Dragoon F (not picrel), hypothetically speaking, would the stickers from the burst remake fit the plastic gen? Screengrabs from a YouTube video I found seem to suggest the answer is a resounding maybe. The eyes are probably a bit too small, and the blue blade stickers seem a bit shorter and longer than the original. If anyone here owns both, I'd love your input.

Alternatively if anyone knows where I can buy repros of the original sticker sheet, that'd be great too. Best I've been able to fine is a someone on insta/reddit who offers to do it, but it doesn't seem like the quality is all that good.

This giant stadium is really cool, Beyblades can build lots of momentum so attacks are strong.
But you have less contact and will quickly lose power/stamina to climb the slope and knock out
I wonder how an RC Beyblade would perform in this stadium, you could "steer" it and spin longer.

Takara teased an announcement for March 21 2023 (321 Go Shoot). People are speculating it's Gen 4.
What do you think they'll do, some think it'll be an amalgam of old Gens because everything is multiversal.
Takara says Beyblade has gone evergreen in Europe, so they might want mass and/or generational appeal.

>>10063372
>What do you think Beyblade Gen 4 will look like? I think it starts fall 2023. I liked Burst
If I had my way
beys would be a lot smaller again and a bit heavier
copy the same basic silhouette as the early plastic gen (triangle/cones over T shaped tops)
keep the metal attack ring from MF since they tend to last longer
Gimmick would reuse the engine gear system since yeah I know it was kind of shit in competitions but that was almost 20 years ago so spring and gear contraptions are a bit more complex and reliable now
>>
>>10134821
>beys would be a lot smaller again and a bit heavier
They generally are in the beginning
>>10134821
>(triangle/cones over T shaped tops)
The T shape is what makes them spin longer, because Flywheel/Outward weight distribution.
The problem is if you graph their stamina, it mostly extends the boring part at the end.
>>10134821
>use the engine gear system since yeah I know it was kind of shit in competitions
Engine gear was cool, I think the reason they were bad wasn't the mechanism, it was the engine gear/clutch base's height.
So shorter Beyblades just pummeled them.
>>
>>10135879
I know the T shape is more efficient while spinning, but I think the old giant biases on the plastic gens not only looked cooler while spinning/battling but correct me if I'm wrong but the blade base/spin gear system had a surprising amount of customization options
>>
>>10136333

> The WBO really ruined their wiki switching to Wikia/Fandom, that site sucks

Hindsight is 20/20, the Fandom mobile experience in 2022 is terrible. I guess the main concern was the people going to Fandom was far greater than people going to the WBO hosted Wiki - so why not just have the "good info" on the site that people use anyway, and save on server costs too?

But it seems like not everything has been properly moved yet, and site is dead. Occasionally there's some dumbass kid that writes their own opinions and it stays up for 10 years.

>>10113661
Solo spin time isn't really a good measure of Stamina or performance. In actual battle there are factors (mostly the opponent's Bey) that make a Driver good in a certain matchup.

>>
>>10158019
Bearing Drift has better LAD, only use Bearing' to make up for poor burst résistance.
>>10158019
It's just Hasbro underperforming. Beyblade are popular in Europe but they're failing to meet demand.
>>
Aight. So let me get this straight.

Beyblades of the current iteration of the current generation (Dynamite Battle and Burst Ultimate) all weigh nearly 2.5 times more than the original iteration (OG Burst)?

Doesn't that wreck the "Attack Defense Stamina" RPS mechanism?

How healthy is the meta? I can't imagine there's much variety.
>>
>>10160240
There's different formats for older parts. Most OG layers/drivers(tips) were already long obsolete, weight or not. The RPS "mechanism" is fine. LAD/opposite spin, is what people really complain about. All the previous Gens has power creep, it's just that Burst ran longest. I think MFB's "Standard Format" is considered worst meta. It's dominated by "Synchrome" where you can double a Beyblade's weight and RDF(Best LAD/Defense Tip).
>>
>>10160558
If the RPS design is fine, how come all I saw were stamina and attack beys online? Idk, Maybe my desire for a balanced game is too unrealistic for something like Beyblade.

Just ordered a ton from Japan - the yen is shit right now, so the tops are cheaper than the Hasbro stuff.

Just wish I could buy the MFB and plastics stuff easier - I completely missed the MF generation. My little cousin's going to like playing this at least.
>>
>>10160659
>how come all I saw were stamina and attack beys online
The reason is defense parts make good stamina combos, because both are very similar. They tried to depict a stamina type as lighter. But a heavy round Beyblade with OWD (outward weight distribution), is both harder to knockout and spins longer.
>>
>>10074981
>>10075032
Personally I'd say it's for the better since it ensures every Beyblade has an identity of it's own. Part of the reason I never collected any Metal Fight was how visually boring they all looked. Nothing but round shapes and smooth edges with muted color schemes because of all the metal, even when compared to Gen 1's sharp edges and bright colors.
>>
File: StormPegasis.png (462 KB, 500x500)
462 KB

>>10161235
I don't think they're muted at all. The clear wheel adds enough color, and the Facebolt graffiti motifs look great. Static or in motion the way it fastens the Beyblade feels solid, physically and aesthetically. It feels industrial in it's simplicity. They tried to add more color on the metal wheel, but the paint chipped. Overall I like how MFB looked.
>>
>>10161441
I'm coming around to trying them after all these years.

The Burst meta seems really stale and samey - so maybe trying out the MFB line could be fun.
>>
>>10161441
Yeah I still can't get over how dry Pegasus looks for an attack type; it's too damn circular which is a problem I have with a lot of they beys in Metal Fight. Somebody posted a Ray Unicorno with metal protrusions that at least gives it more of a visual identity, but that's only one layer out of sea of many. Easily my biggest complaint about Metal as a whole is the clear bias against left spins (being left handed myself). Outside of L Drago and maybe Perseus, there aren't that many around (I think Twisted Tempo can dual spin as well? can't remember). It's one of the bigger reasons Burst quickly became my favorite line. They introduced a number of left spins and dual spin beys after the first generation, and while not all of them are winners, at least Takara Tomy tried to give them gimmicks and abilities that amounted to more than it spins left and can therefore steal spin from a right.

Plus the fact L Drago is "evil" and "one of a kind" just because it spun left didn't sit well with me then and it still doesn't now. At least Perseus can dual spin and it's probably the only Metal Fight bey I'd ever be interested in buying.

>how dry Pegasus looks for an attack type; it's too damn circular
The Storm wheel is notoriously bad for Attack. If you want to see jagged and better attack wheels. Try Vulcan, Flash (an Oval) VariesAries (also Dual spin) Etc. And
in ZeroG using Ronin/Dragoon on top, allows any Beyblade to become left spin.

They actually revealed in the lore that it wasn't evil because it spun left, but because it was corrupted by dark power from its use from malevolent men throughout history. When Pegasis defeated it, it wasn't evil anymore.
