Problem is, I'm not very experienced at paper Magic in general and wouldn't really know where to start since my card collection is very small. First, buy a pre-con of the colors you like to play. do a little bit of research on how the deck plays and see if its your style . Play a couple games with it and learn its strength and weaknesses then search online for upgrade cards to switch in. Also you will lose a lot and learning is part of the experience. I'd recommend to play with other new commander players if you can otherwise you'll be losing a lot which might sour your experience but understand its part of the game and you'll get better with time. Its always good to ask questions and get as much information as possible learning to keep track of card triggers and what your opponents field has will come in time

If you want to avoid going the infinite combo route, you can always recur a strong etb like an avenger of zendikar multiple times a turn with any 3 CMC or less reanimation enchantment and a sac outlet. Rule of law effects are very strong yeah. I'd recommend running slightly less ramp than usual, around 8-10 prices, as Tayam only costs 4 mana and can ramp you in an emergency by getting back lands from the graveyard. For removal, I'd recommend slotting in mostly nonland permanent removal for your instants and sorceries, and using stuff like oubliette and Kenrith's transformation for removal once Tayam is out.

My opinion of white has completely changed recently. I was watching a YouTube video and the guy said something along the lines of "White isn't bad, people just don't let you play its strengths in commander without complaining". It's like something clicked when he said that, so I started putting some of the more brutal stuff like Armageddon, Humility, Smothering Tithe, Drannith Magistrate, Cataclysm, Rule of Law, and so on in my decks, and it's been so good. I'm a total white respector now. I would honestly say red is probably the weakest color right now, unless you have some wild and fast proactive strategy like Slicer to win the game before anyone else gets off the ground. I'm constantly drawing cards and keeping my hand full in the mono white deck I built and I can remove any permanent that's an issue for me, I even have a few counterspells. It's wild. Don't be afraid to run good white cards, if people bitch that means it's working.
Has anyone tried running Isochron Scepter but not as a combo piece? Simply just sticking some removal or counterspell on it and having that extra interaction every rotation. Did it feel worth the slot?

This seems obvious, but it gets confusing when you get to…5. Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth are both colorless color identity despite what their frames suggest. This is because they don’t actually have any land types. Their abilities give themselves land types while on the battlefield, but this does not count towards color identity for deck construction. This lets you utilize Karma in decks like Darien, King of Kjeldor, or it lets you be cheeky with Kormus Bell in Avacyn, Angel of Hope.
