Not that i want to burst your bubble or anything, but chessdotcum "brilliant" moves are a fucking joke. Take a look at this shit for instance. I simply grabbed a free pawn there and the computer goes OMG!!!!!1111!11!11!!!! because somehow it's so le fucking "hard to see" that his knight will be hanging when i capture the outpost pawn and it will be a piece for a piece. But apparently just because the rook can take the bishop without a direct recapture this is a Tal-tier "sacrifice", kek.

And even more funny is that this move doesn't even win the pawn. He can throw in an inbetween move by grabing my f-pawn with tempo on the queen and material will be equal (although my opponent didn't find that move).

Saw my crush that plays chess today beautiful as always (actually, she looked even better than normal) came home and got inspired thinking about her played 8 games and won seven and all of them were very good wins (defeated some rivals that were like 50 points higher rated than me, and I won in less than 40 moves in all of them).

I managed to cross 1700 chesscum blitz again after tilting really hard and losing 200 elo points due to me making the mistake of playing on lichess again
>>
I need to remember this move in accelerated panov. It leads to several tactics and material wins regardless of black's best replies. Black putting queen on that square is common so it'll probably come up again at some point.
>>
>>88992118

It fights for the control of d4 so white can’t get two pawns in the centre
>>
>>88993188
The kosher openings which weren’t touched by gentiles.
>>
>>88993274
This makes sense, so if white declines the trade he is left with a more cramped position and his d4 pawn is going to suffer?
>>
>>88993289
Essentially. White claims the centre with e4, black stakes his claim with c4. White has to fight to get the centre back in some way by playing nf3, d4, or c3, d4, or f4 Grand Prix.
You should read logical chess by Chernenko if you want a book he goes into this stuff
>>
>>88993289
If white doesn't play d4 the game goes in to the closed variations of Sicilian. This isn't better or worse for white, necessarily, just different. The most fighting chances for white involve pushing d4 and entering the open Sicilian.

>>
>>88994122
There's no need to go deeper than you're getting in games. I do an audit of my openings every couple months to see what the most common replies are, gear study towards that. Slowly build the flow chart over time as rating improves and opponent knowledge increases. For Sicilian I'm usually out of specific prep by move 10-ish. This is deeper than my other openings as open Sicilian proper doesn't start until move 6 anyway. From there just understanding plans. Some new move starts giving me trouble I look it up and add.

Just lichess player database to show my own games. Works pretty well. I find fairly important information in there sometimes. >This has happened before after serious chess study sessions, and when it did, I came back stronger than ever.
I'm getting a really bad case of this right now (although I'm about 700 rating points lower than you), I've been trying out tactics puzzles for the first time and whenever I jump into an actual game I feel like I'm not only forgetting everything I'm supposed to be learning, but I'm also losing all of my intuition. I'm not really sure how to overcome this hump of me being a total tard when it comes to forcing unsound and miscalculated tactics in my games but jesus fuck I pray I'll be past it soon because it's costing me so many wins against clearly shit players

Yeah I don’t know why but having a tournament rn which I paid actual money to be in and stockfish is asking me what the shit I’m doing when I plug the games in for review.

Playing terribly, 3/3 on suck so far, the one and only redeeming feature is I didn’t enter to take top spot but to improve.

And while sucking so bad in classic format, rapid online games between I’m playing better, improving.

Forgotten everything I worked on, playing like absolute shit, but the time spent focusing I don’t think it’s cope I think I will be stronger for this.

As per the result of the poll, next week's team battle will be the shitters vs the megashitters or the 2000+ vs the u2000. The time control is 5+1 but the 2000+ players must berserk.

I usually meme about indians cheating, but aborting out of principle against indians is a very healthy choice. Maybe this general psyoped me into it, but a lot of games against them seem suspicious to me. For example, if I play 2200 rated indians and 2200 rated americans, a lot of the games against indians have moments that feel very sus while the american games always feel natural start to end. I dunno, maybe indians just emulate engines more or something. Same thing with fillipinos.

I'm going to learn the broad strokes of the grunfeld this week and give it a try. Nimzo is a little too positional for my style. What usually happens is I get everything I want out of the Nimzo and then I like at my pretty pawn structure and center control and get confused how to proceed. Positional squeeze isn't something I do with any other opening so Nimzo doesn't really suit me.
>>
So I think I see what I’ve been doing wrong in classic chess, I’ve been trying to win it in the mid game.
Which works fine for rapid, but people (other than me) aren’t going to blunder and give the game away when have an hour on the clock.
New plan, aim for position in the end game, maybe will cease with the sucking… For now.

I'm usually playing a range from 550s to 800s in blitz and what I find with the Indians is that it seems like they've learned every hyper aggressive and highly risky opening. If you know how to parlay like 5 or so aggressive openings then they fall apart.
>>
>>89004074
General tip that worked well for me down at that rating range:
Have a basic default development plan in case the other side plays weird. Meaning if not prevented, I want pawns here, knights here, bishops here. This is much more effective than trying to react to what they are specifically doing (obviously keep control of f7/f2). It will serve you well against most very aggressive early attacks and against the push all the pawns approach.

The fourth game of the 8th Eiou tournament is being played between Sota Fujii (sente, the Eiou title holder) and Tatsuya Sugai. The time control is normally four hours per player, but since this game had to be replayed due to initially ending in a repetition draw (http://live.shogi.or.jp/eiou/kifu/8/eiou202305280101.html), both players started with a little over three hours. The match is a best of five, and Fujii currently leads 2 wins to 1.
The opening of this game was, like every other game in the match, static rook vs third file rook.

They are primarily butchers with little patience. There is rarely any nuance to their strategy: relentless attack and mate OR relentless defense and try to get you in to a losing endgame. An Indian player who does anything else is a rarity below 2000. It's like they are oblivious to the Russian school of chess entirely.

http://live.shogi.or.jp/eiou/kifu/8/eiou202305280103.html
the third game started. Sugai has 1 hr 6 minutes, Fujii has 1 hour (normally, both players have whatever time they finished the last game with, but if one player has less than an hour, both players start the time with however many minutes needed for that player to start with an hour added to their time. In this case, Fujii had two minutes at the end of the last game, so both players gained 58 minutes)
