Ebay, ask around to see if people have an army they've lost favor for and see how attached they are to give it away to you? Also, save for a combat box and get all your supplies to build elsewhere. Rust Oleam is a good primer alternative

yeah, probably god-tier hack to buy several of those for ~$50 and then sell the marine character for $30 as he's all people are buying.

Reminder that the Emperor's vision of humanity was for everyone to be like a psychic Custodes. If you hate Custodes you hate the Emperor himself.

>"Each one of the Ten Thousand represents genetic lore acquired over many lifetimes. Each one of you is unique, a work of art never to be repeated. I am miserly with your lives, where I would spend so many others without a thought."

>"We were never soldiers... To them, it must seem as if we are wrath incarnate. To them, it must seem as if we were created for destruction and nothing else. But we were His companions, once. We were the ones in whom He confided. We were His counselors, we were His artisans. We were the first glimpse at what the species could become if shepherded aright and unshackled from its vicious weaknesses. Of course, we were taught to fight. He knew that war would come. It was a necessary part of the ascension, though it was never destined to last for eternity. We were the guardians of a new age, and had to be strong enough to keep it secure."

Emperor wanted to shepard humanity to the next phase of their natural evolution. Custodes are a labratory creation. They have nothing to do with his vision for the future. They are there to protect his shit. GW even fucked that up by sending them all across the galaxy as a playable army.
>>
>Reaching the point where me and my buddies are going to start making custom characters.

Probably going to make my fifth company captain that has one of the plasma incinerators and a powersword.
Fluff being that Hellblaster service is generally reserved as a punishment duty/trial and he (as one of the few surviving veterans of the Original Fifth company) is going to continue his penance until they can avenge themselves on the genestealer cult that ambushed them and reclaim their fallen/abandoned brothers from a mining colony where things went to shit.

Not quite = not so much = only a little bit.
Marines aren't people, but they are humans.
They aren't people because People is a human who is part of a common group, and they have experiences common to each other, such as a home, needs, wants, social responsibilities, etc. Even human soldiers have most of that, and thus they are still people.
Marines have little to none of that. And the few of those they do have, have nothing in common with people from outside their chapter.
Alas, they have a human spirit, and hence they need Chaplains to tend to those. Because marine training makes excellent warriors but it also makes for hollow men.

With steel they are stronger, but without soul they are nothing.

Huh. My guys hellblasters are a lieutenant's arsonist cult, and have been censored time and again for placing the eradication of the enemy over securing tactical objectives.
But it never sticks, because the enemy does end up dead.
The captain is fed up with them, and kinda just points them at the enemy and sets them loose

I think a heroes of the storm style MOBA would be a great opportunity for a game.
I also think a PROPER crack at what eternal crusade tried could be a smash hit. Online battlefield style combined arms objective based matches with 40k factions in a FPS or TPS would be too fucking notch.
>>
>>88981666
Ironically the reason its seen as a punishment/trial is because if the marine does not learn control and practical application of an overcharge he's going to get incinerated by his own gun.
So those that master it come out better while those who don't just get plasma'd.

hear me out... Alien Isolation, but instead of running around a spaceship trying to escape from an alien, your ship has been boarded by Night Lords space marines and you have to crawl through the ducts and sneak around the ship trying to evade them and collect the goods you'd need to survive eventually getting to a boarding pod and ejecting with enough food and a beacon to hope someone else picks you up.

Everytime you get caught you watch the Night Lords horribly torture your character to death in imaginative ways.

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: “Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
‘My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!’
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

Yeah but no. The realities weren't merged. It was the eldar what were inside, and born of, the warp.
When Asuryan created the separation, the eldar gods remained in the warp, and the mortal eldar were cast out to realspace. Where time is linear, possibilities limited, and death is certain.

Granted, it does let me do some funny shit like Dumping a D4 Plasma Redemptor into them while its overcharging or get D4 Eliminators but it hurts otherwise.
A relic of mid 8th/early 9th design just like how Dualists allows my guys to fight men on foot and men on bikes but an ork on a boar just mystifies them and turns off, although my repulsor can drift into guys just fine.

This model seems amazing for its price point, it costs the same as the box of 5 scouts, but it's six scouts on a vehicle!
A lot of near custom options, bags, crates weapons and stuff you can add on, it'll probably take me a while to paint
>>
With no distinctions between primaris and firstborn in 10th, why take the newer vehicles like the impulsor over the rhino or the repulsor over the the land raider?

it's really odd how utterly irrelevant any rules that have to do with "Buildings" are in 40k. In real total war (between space marine level threats), bunkers and emplacements would be incredibly vital. In-game, terrain is nothing more than +1 armor save and never a single actual building.

GW really fucked up with hammerfall bunker. "multiply its attacks by every single unit it can see" is such a 0/10 retard game design decision that it guaranteed they had to point cost it out of existence. It's impossible to balance that ability properly as in one game it easily sees 5 units in another 10-15.

Impulsor gets an invuln, repulsor I got no clue.

>>
>>88982312
The issue with buildings is its a unit you pay for, that you have to somehow fit on a prebuilt board, that can't move and needs other units in it to function.

Its a terrible design decision.
And yeah, I laugh whenever I mention the building part to my opponent.

Because it sucks ass and ruin game feel. Melee units suddenly have way too much difficulty getting to the emplacement physically and the defender models are haphazardly dumped into a clown car. Miniature games do not handle irregular shaped terrain very well and warhammer is no exception.

the terrain rules are shit because they don't promote movement. melee units can just walk through 90% of terrain like it's not there, and ranged units gain nothing by flanking cover because it doesn't care about what angle you're getting hit from. it's too easy for a match to just end up as my dudes sitting in a ruin shooting your dudes parked in a crater and there's no reason for either of us to move.

That's all that was needed. Skitarii, Cultmech, Harlequins, Deathwatch and GSC all got very positive receptions upon their release during the 7th ed "mini-dex" phase, and all of them apparently did well on sales despite their varying levels of gameplay effectiveness.
Ynnari are literally an extension of the Eldar endgame. If they had released the "Corsairs" kit as a basic troop back in 2017 alongside a couple of elites and maybe one vehicle, no one would have been unhappy with a gimmick rule of souping a small percentage of units from other eldar books.
Instead we got three characters and were essentially told that GW didn't care about the faction beyond selling surplus xenos stock. Being absolutely broken on the rule side and becoming a WAACfag faction killed whatever little narrative interest was left.

I think I got cup like $10 and the clamp like $10, and they're two of my most used and useful tools. They don't require any powerful machinery or metal-on-metal action so they're pretty flawless.

Just don't buy a knife or scraper or pliars or sprue-cutter from GW, those actually suck balls compared to spending much less elsewhere.

A stupid internet meme. In the lore they just repaint their armour.

That's stupid too. They would logically just have extra/stolen sets of armour painted properly, instead of having some slapdash dollar-store paintjob that's rubbing off.
>>
>>88984026
The groove along the wall are meant to run a non-pointy tipped brush through to shape it together. I don't terribly use that too much but there are ridges on the bottom of the cup that you rub your brush along back and forth at the bottom of the water to get paint off easier. That's pretty nice. The spot to put a brush that's still wet along the top is handy but I usually have too many to make use of it fully.

Also fuck cleaning lmao
I mean maybe if it's bad I'll take a paper towel with IPA on it and fix the rim or something but otherwise I just run it under sink water when I'm done

>>88984068
You do not understand Alpha Legion. They are the one "free market" legion out of all 18. White Scars sigh wistfully at the idea of independance from the imperium, but they don't actually practice individuality. Alpha Legion uses full-on splinter cells, temporary democracy and subdivisions so every group can do things the way they think will work best whenever some big primarch or warmaster isnt over-riding command.

They're basically the exact opposite of the codex astartes. Instead of trying to all standardize everything, each group is basically their own take on the legion. One group sculpt themselves to all have faces identical to alpharius and do the dumb catchphrase. One group paints their armor this color green and uses poisons. One warband uses snake-scale armor that reflects lasers. One group uses stolen power armor to sneak into the enemy compounds. Another group repaints their armor to sneak in. Another group could use help from a sorcerer or Tzeentch forces for illusion (Changeling loves those kind of pranks #1) Another group focuses on sneaking in without ever being seen by turning all the cameras off and wearing stealthy armor. Another group doesn't even go in themselves, but uses brainwashed traitor guardsmen to go in and sabotage things.

Every Alpha Legion force is unique. That is the only thing that makes them effective. If all Alpha Legion stole power armor in order to do shennanigans, they'd be predictable and ineffective. It's only flexibility that makes espionage have any chance of success.

I'm reminded of that time they boarded a fellow chapter's battle-barge during an ork invasion, assaulted, disabled and kidnapped a venerable dreadnought, flushed the marine out of the sarcophagus like he was an aborted fetus, tried to inter one of their own sergeants in there, and when the interment operation failed they instead employed tech-heresy to turn the sergeant into an undead suit of armor. While he was conscious and against his will, I might add.

Most chapters won't even treat their enemies as harshly, let alone their own battle-brothers.

After looking at the primarch models in the HH section of gw's site, all I can do is seeth in envy. They NEED to bring back ALL the primarchs. It's not fair that some legions get their primarch and others don't. Particularly dull flavorless legions like iron hands and imperial fists, they need the boost. Not to mention the countless iron warriors and night lord fans waiting for literally anything for their legion. It's not fair damnit.

Fellow fa/tg/uys, what are your stories of 40k players having weird habits, superstitions and so one? Do you have any?
I personally have a different set of dice for every army I use and I do not like rolling other people dice (I have no problem with them using mine).

Also, on a bigger scale, in my usual shop there is an anon that will ALWAYS roll dice for heroes one at a time, no matter how many dice there where in the roll.

The new DP and the Diaz Prince are the only ones I like. There are some cool weird demons that could be used as DPs but not that many generic Daemon Princes with Power Armour. Anyways, I own both the classic one (metal) and the new one and the new one is cool too.

>A model that had been out of production for several MONTHS by the time those articles rolled out

I don't know if it counts but I think I am pretty chill as a gamer, I have no problem with people taking back moves, doing strats that they have forgotten and so on but I do get upset and it ruins my games a little when the opponent army is not WYSIWYG to a decent level.

Having to remember all kind of shit, mix and match, wondering if you are actually telling me the right thing or cheating is bullshit.
>>
>>88985084
I mean, GW can do better than that. Dante, Sanguinor, Sanguinius can be their own thing.
>>
>>88985083
Something weird was going on with Prince Yriel. He got mentioned in several articles during arks of Omen as a name drop, and it seems really weird considering that it was a model they just stopped selling. Maybe they originally intended to have a new model for him by this point but the project got pushed back to 10e. There was a lot of shuffling of projects for the last 6 months of 90, like all of the Marine Battle Force boxes that probably were originally meant to launch with a Marine Codex 2 supplement of some kind.

Speaking of Sanguinius, what's the deal with the lore thing about him being a red angel that pre-dates the Imperium? Like, is that supposed to imply that all of the primarchs are ancient warp beings reshaped into what they are now by the emperor? Or is this him somehow stretching backwards into time after whatever he has become like a Chaos God?

My local is having a "everyone versus 20000 pts of Nids" event next week.
We are only allowed to bring a normal 2k army per person and right now it looks like we are going to end up being down about 6k points.
What do you think is the better strategy to skew towards for punching above my weight class against enormous unit sizes and tons of big monsters? Tons of anti armor or lots of gaunt shredding blast weapons?

If you kill all the big monsters the remaining gaunts aren't a threat, not to mention even if it's overkill you can still demolish infantry with anti-armor guns. Honestly a ton of anti armor stuff is made for killing infantry to begin with in this game since MEQ are so common.

They were going to, but then we collectively decided that it's probably more fun this way. Especially since the defenders side is going to have some many more Command Points and strategems at their disposal and the Nids list is going to be intentionally unoptimized to run as many models as possible with Leviathan rules.
I know we have Dark Angels (Deathwing) Sisters (bloody rose), Chaos Knights, World eaters (Angron), Space Wolves, and Death Guard.
We seem skewed pretty melee heavy and I'm debating between my AdMech and Dark Eldar.
>>
>>88985544
Fire support seems solid then. Especially if the CK is more melee.

I love how his armour almost seamlessly runs into his flesh at points. None of the newer models really give you that same feeling of crazy Chaos powers reshaping a dude's entire everything like he's made of wax, and the last time they tried something like that they somehow ended up with the embarrassing mistake that is the new Obliterator kit.
