So, what do you think of the trailer?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJQb5BP1nTU

Wow it looks like ass.
Studio trigger is supposed to be making this right? The hell happened with it?

Also the pacing of the humor has not been carried across if going by the trailer.

Is this their first non-original work?

I like it, Laios' voice is a bit deeper than what I imagined but I'm happy with it, they need to show him going full autist though.
I didn't expect Marcille's to be this bratty, not really a complain as her screams are going to be ear piercing, but still something sounds off about her.
>>
>>88973665
Im really not. I love DM and I think ST can make things good in motion.

This looks very stiff and the colors look too vivid. The manga was much more earthtones.
>>
>>88973781
The manga was black and white
>>
>>88973781
The cover illustrations are very colorful. The idea that fantasy must be associated with earthtones has been a disaster for Hollywood productions.
>>
>>88973846
And when it used color (such as for covers) the blending was much better.
>>
>>88973965
I didn’t say pure earthtones (I said more), I meant the blending was better.

Im not asking for mudcore, Im saying the digital coloration they used looks bad.

I personally despise 99.9% of anime/manga.

Dungeon Meshi is one of the few exceptions. Go read it.

Well Im very Jaded. I can give some advide but depends on what your jaded about. I myself find myself in a middle ground for content.

I want some hot girls, but I also want some good plot and character development.
On one side I get hollywood yelling in my ear while not being able to manage even the most basic of plots.
On the other hand current day manga/anime is like 99.9% embarassing garbage where it feels dirtier then actual porn, where your lucky the plot isn't "Im in a magical land where all my sisters want to have sex with me".

If your like me in that sense, then I can give advice.

Nta but I would wholeheartedly recommend Made in Abyss to basically anyone who is into adventure stories. Both the manga and the anime. It is one of the few series where both mediums are fucking fantastic and one doesn't wholly outshine another.

The Anime is especially elevated due to the outstanding ost it has whereas the scenery drawings in the manga are absolutely beautiful.

But even if you actually feel embarasshment and shame over the rancid fetish shit and are not actually watching MIA for said fetish shit (and are just embarassed for being called out on it), its still generally pretty shallow. It looks pretty, but thats about it.

Honestly this has me thinking that >>88976398

Instead of sexually dissatisfied women? Bulk of fantasy novels are self-insert smut aimed at female consumers. I'm sure a lot of consumers would be happy to buy the bath water of various HP, Twilight, or LotR actors.

Like stepping aside from the name calling or insults....Why.
If its not your fetish, you spend 50% of the time just uncomfortable with the stories. And the fetish ALWAYS compromises the story. What if I just want to indulge in with my fetish in private and then watch some good storytelling that doesn't have me feeling embarassed?
Why is it when furries demand you validate their fetish, its mock worthy, but if you want your anime fetishes validated anybody who doesn't support it is a plebian?
>>
>>88979554
Sadly most people at this point cannot fathom finding entertainment in anything but base stimuli e.g gore or sex. If you have a story, it's better with porn and fetishes. If you have a character, it will always be better if you make it a cute girl with big booba. That's how they think and there's nothing you can do about it. If you call them out on it they will just say low test or some other retarded cope when any good man from an era where men needed to be men would've despised this sort of thinking.
>>
>>88978756
>I'm sure a lot of consumers would be happy to buy the bath water of various HP, Twilight, or LotR actors.
people who do this are called "whales" and no, there are few of them, but they pay a lot because they're obsessive
since everything you consume today is free or virtually free, the only way companies have to make money is to cater harder and harder to the "whales" who are in most cases damaged people. They're the people who'll pay $2000 for drawings of their fursona getting fucked, buy some whore's bathwater, give large donations to e-hookers, gamble thousands on loot crates, and so on. They're basically the broken alcoholics within a healthy public that still exists but does not really dictate what gets created anymore (because in the end, people create what they get paid for).

>Why is it when furries demand you validate their fetish, its mock worthy, but if you want your anime fetishes validated anybody who doesn't support it is a plebian?

Because 1 is a perversion that was always shoved in your face across all mediums back in the day by the and the other is something I expect from the medium of anime. I would similarly tell weebs to fuck off if I wasn't looking for that type of entertainment in a role-playing game. If I didn't, I would just consume some other form of entertainment medium/other website, instead of being a cultural imperalist, much like the wannabe jannie here >>88980144.
If you're talking about 4chan in general, it was founded as a weeb website modeled after 2ch because the SA forms banned weebs. Go to Reddit or anywhere else if you don't like it.
>>
>>88976844
Dorohedoro. The anime is also good, faithful for the most part - upgraded in certain aspects like the beautiful backgrounds, worse in others like the janky 3D CGI, equal in others like the OST being extremely faithful but putting its own spin on it. Pretty consistently good throughout the whole series, there's a dip in energy near the 3/4 mark but it jumps right the fuck back up at the end.
>>
How faithful are anime to their source material generally speaking? I know that they'll add stuff while they're waiting for the manga to catch up, but do they make significant changes just 'cause?
>>
>>88980485
>If you're talking about 4chan in general, it was founded as a weeb website modeled after 2ch because the SA forms banned weebs. Go to Reddit or anywhere else if you don't like it.

This. 4chan has anime at it's core, whining about it just fucking retarded. The whole fucking nature of this site and the culture both it's userbase, and first moot, and later hiroshimoot have cultivated is rooted in discussion of "weebshit".

Of course other interests are also welcome here, but trying to "shame" people who like anime for posting anime shit on 4chan is fucking assinine. Especially when coming from some "muh degeneracy bad" angle. This fucking site has never been some bastion of moral puritanism or moralfaggotry in general. Even back when times were less politically polarised than they are now, the stance most users here in my experience at least had, was that of "fuck off moralfag", as in, there was no desire to hear some retards try to preach about what is acceptable or not to like here.

I get that the fucking culture war bs going on in murrica and leaking to the rest of the west as well has influenced the discourse here as well, but especially newfaggots would be wise to remember that this site's nature has always been more or less apolitical, barring of course /pol/, but even that board is only so heavily right leaning because leftists refuse to post there themselves.
>>
>>88980539
filler is generally only added for long running series that are being made in parallel to the respective manga/novel they're basing it off. So it doesn't really apply for anything around 12 or 24 episodes.
The only real "filler" episode they would add is maybe a recap episode? like a episode 8.5sorta thing to buy time for the animators/studio if needed, but that's been falling out of fashion too so it shouldn't really happen.
It really depends on each studio and director how much they're willing to change/add and censor, I've only seen trigger's original works so I'm not sure what they do for adaptations.
Though I think it's probably safe to say that they'll stay pretty faithful to the source and that the real concern should be how much material they'll cut out rather than add in due to limitation of time.

>Heterogeneous Linguistics
The author is about as much of a language autist as Tolkein was. I've read it all the way through to the flashback sequences about the expedition that turns into the fucked up mutant town

The author's fetishes are on full display, and the concept of the setting serves largely to fulfill them. Behind the faux-fairy tale art style and heavily leaning on classics like Lodoss/Swordworld it's just another piece of anti-fantasy obsessed with video game stats, subversion and the through demystification of fantasy. All authors inject their fetishes. What separates a good from a bad one is how aware of their own fetish they are and how naturally they try to have it.
Context is king.
And MIA author could not give less of a fuck about context. Anything can and will be used to have naked kids, make dick jokes, smelling assholes or drinking pee.
And even if I can separate one from the other they're in the same package, so it will affect the perception of it as a whole.

You could add a single tarantino tier feet fetish scene in the entire LotR trilogy it would be the moat depsised thing by most fans due how much it atands out and the kind of people it brings in.
>>
>>88986206
>And MIA author could not give less of a fuck about context. Anything can and will be used to have naked kids, make dick jokes, smelling assholes or drinking pee.

You have not read or watched MIA. You base your opinions on it on fucking secondary meme sources if you genuinely beleive what you wrote.
>>
>>88986231
>Everyone punishes kids by getting them naked and tied to a place. Totally normal!
>Ozen also makes Marulk crossdress because it's funny and likes to slap his ass naked
>it's okay for Riko to make so many comments regarding Reg's dick because she wants to be a diver/scientist and is very curious about stuff
>People constantly needs to pee or go to the bathroom
>Everything has to be smelled up close, even going as far as asking to specifically smell the ass
>All to gore and torture porn focused on kids

I get the concept, I get the idea, I enjoy both of them
The execution, however, shows a clear lack of awareness by the author. I would almost believe you if it wasn't for all the covers who double down on getting them naked and smell jokes. Also, the whole merchandising.
Thinking the author isn't using this as a vehicle to draw his fetishes is as naive as thinking Blizzard believed in the LGBTQ stuff they put out.
Among other reasons, because that's literally what the author was doing before MIA.

Marcilles voice is a bit higher than I would have chosen, but otherwise its not bad. I'm surprised (in a good way) that Laios and Chilchucks VA's are (relatively) new as well, was worried they'd just pick some generic popular VA's.

Curious as to whose going to voice Falin as well, even if she's not gonna have that much dialogue.
>>

its unconfirmed as of right now, but I would assume we'll just get 12/13 and (hopefully) more later.

As things are, the anime will most likely end soon after the red dragon fight/resurrection. maybe ending on pic relate page.
>>
>>88992420
how is it a good analogy, the 80s and 90s was filled with mass produced tie-in slop and yearly entries in big franchises. the only difference now is that half of it seems to be tie-ins with some literally who chinaman web novels instead of LNs

This.
Fantasy always being fucking drab nowadays blows. Fantasy means it can be fantastical. Not everywhere needs to be a depressing shithole covered in filth and illiterate peasants.
All the most passionate arguments I've been in on /tg/ boil down to some tard basically making the argument that "Fantasy is usually coded off of medieval Europe, so if things don't conform to my incredibly cynical impression of medieval Europe the setting is broken."
Which is an ignorant as fuck statement.
Just because a setting's culture is coded off of a recognizable real-world culture for recognizability's sake does not mean it needs to be a direct 1 to 1 copy of that culture. It's on a different planet with a different history with different physical laws inherent to the universe. Shit shouldn't even be close to Earth culture.

>How is the gambling den different than the pub. Both have gambling!

Because the slop wasn't touted as "The good stuff". Where extreme magical realm garbage isn't some niche OVA, its the mainstream show with multiple seasons.

Only a UTTER RETARD would not understand how the economic implosion of the 90s catastrophically damaged the industry.

Yeah if you are a coomer and only came for anime for the garbage slop, your in heaven right now, and probably can't tell the difference for what was lost because you never cared.

It never was boomer. The "trash" that people call "good" was really touted as the fun stuff that has thought and care put into it, like Mad Bull 34 and Angel Cop or pic related for a more recent example.

I'm the other anon. You had anime like Iria where you'd get fanservice bits and they were clearly shoved in and out of place. Now you have fanservice with a plot that's shoved in and out of place. Then of course there was hentai and waifushittery even back then but it wasn't what would get touted as the good anime. Most likely you could enjoy anime without even touching the hentai and fanservice oriented shit. Now it's impossible.

But you still can. It's about 2-3 shows per season, but it's there. Now if you're looking for specifically sci-fi, you're out of luck. Actual sci-fi is more or less dead with maybe 2 shows in a year. Last three memorable shows were if you mixed inception with minority report, style over substance cyberpunk, and the cyberpunk anime proper that would fit your criteria.

funny thing is that real medieval Europe didn't look like that either. People love colors, black was an expensive dye and the idea of making everything in a subdued way is a very modern invention, see how the landsknechts looked like or how the country cottages in the Witcher game look like (the developers did their reaserch)
>>
>>88995530
People end up with very weird preconceptions based on whats 'believable' when reality is sometimes stranger than fiction.
>>
>>88995530

I am not sure if dyeing things black is any more difficult than finding black pigment, but black pigment is made by burning things like bone or other materials, even today. It's probably the easiest pigment to make. Maybe you're mixing it up with blue or purple?

I'm not sure if the technology existed at the time to extract black (real black, many not-black colors were called the same in that period, for example black and dark blue were the same for medieval Scandinavians) from these ingredients. Black pigment was hard to get so clothes in that color were extremely expensive,
Only the rich could afford such colors as black, red or blue. The poor used yellow, brown or green

>Black pigment was hard to get so clothes in that color were extremely expensive,
Dude if you burn some twigs you get charcoal which is black pigment
>>
>>89004456
isn't charcoal a pretty bad dye that fades pretty quickly?
>>
>>88999334
I have no idea how people can engage with food they don't eat. It's some of the most braindead form of entertainment, just ooh and ahh at a process you don't want to learn and presentation shots that you can't taste and then watching people eat the stuff like a cuck while you microwave hot pockets. This comic is just this and waifubait, all the way through. But I still wanna fuck fat ears
>>
>>89004456
nta but I imagine he was referring to dye rather than just pigment. you can get black pigment from charcoal but if you're trying to dye clothes black you can't just slap the charcoal on it since it'll just wash out. You gotta mix it with other shit and even then it'd generally wash out a fair bit anyway to become grey rather than actual black.

Also those strong black dyes can damage fabric a fair bit more than other dyes (because it often uses iron to make the shade darker), so if you were a poor person who couldn't afford to replace clothing that often then you wouldn't bother dyeing something black to begin with.
>>
>>89004470
There is a difference between a dye and a pigment AFAIK (a pigment is particles which you suspend in a medium, a dye is chemically bound to the medium), which is why I asked in the earlier post. Blacks are rather stable pigments as are most organic earth pigments. Dyeing things black by all means shouldn't be hard, but I know little about coloring textiles.
>>
>>89004438
Pretty reasonable take desu
>>
>>88973346
Not a fan of the art style, I hate this new semi 3dish effect that characters in a lot of newer shows are starting to have, I'm sure it's tracing over cgi or something because it's so smooth but it's also off putting
>>
>>89004540
a dye changes the colour through a chemical reaction while a paint is like a glue binding the pigment to whatever surface. you can paint stuff black easily but dying it is another thing entirely
>>
>>88973346

This is what I was told by someone who knows his shit (so I trust him, is the point).
